Zeph sees the large Draakh hound dodge the sphere of holding, and then gasps as Garret is struck!
Then, he thinks to Keela"Could you possibly encircle the Hound in a wall of ice?"
Jumping into the cockpit off Avis, Zeph activates the propellers and flies to Garret's position, flying low to reach out his hand and grab the halfling, scooping him into the cockpit before the hound can eat his friend (Sleight of hand = 12, reflex = 15. Fly = 37, nat 20).
Dm Jim: you won't be able to pick him up this round unless he jumps into the Avis.
Addison: Oh! I thought enough damage was done to make him go unconscious. Can I use a Hero point for an additional action to grab him as I fly by?
DM Jim: Yup! :)

Garret watches as the bead falls the ground harmlessly and doesn't have time to yell as the creature's giant metal paws slap him down. He smiles as the world fades to black.
OOC: OUCH. Current Con: 8. He's dead, Jim.
Dm Jim: Not so. Under House Rules: Death occurs at -10 hps. If a PC is down and losing a point a round, he dies during the round he hits -10. A PC will survive an extra round for each hero point that he has unspent.
So currently you have 2 rounds unless you stabilize sooner.
Also under Hero Points: Cheat Death: A character can spend all of their Hero Points but one to cheat death. How this plays out is up to the DM, but generally the character is left alive, with negative hit points but stable. Cheating death is the only way for a character to spend more than 1 hero point in a turn. The character can spend hero points in this way to prevent the death of a familiar, animal companion, eidolon, or special mount, but not another character or NPC.

As Garrett falls, perhaps for the last time, Keela unleashes a large web spell that ensnares the Iron Draakh and stops it from finishing the job on Garrett.
With the rush of wind on her wings, Avis flies in and Zeph heroically swoops down and scoops up Garrett before any further harm can come to him.
Atop the wall, another attacker has breached it's defenses and howls in victory, but it is short lived as Koko--in tiger form, slashes the kothruls abdomen sends it's guts splashing against the inner wall. The rest of the wall continues to fight against the three attackers who made it to the top--shortly to be joined by more friends.
With a fierce growl, the Iron Draahk breaks free of his webbing, but just as soon as it does, a pair of large earthen hands reach up under it and grasp one of it's hind legs and begins to pull it down into the collapsed tunnel.
Zeph, roll for the potion healing

His thoughts are interrupted when Zeph's stressed and combat-driven face appears to block his view of the sky. He blinks again as the craft sways in the wind. And then he points to the battle being waged beneath him. He says, "Keela and Koko fight on the wall while Nagegy's elemental wrestles the hound. We must find their Karkassan or Al Mathir leaders and target them."
Zeph looks to see if the Wall needs any more help, if so, he will swoop down and flick his Fireball wand at one of the ladders (10fire damage, bleh), probably swooping low enough for Garret to jump out and whip some scaly butt.
If the Wall is holding well against the onslaught, Zeph will search around for the leaders of the Mathirian races (Fly = 22, perception = 36)

With Keela and Koko's concerted efforts on the wall, all but one of the attackers fall to spells, blades and claws--but they keep on coming, another four ladders get propped up against the walls and the climbers are steadily making their way up.
On the training grounds, the battle between the Iron Draakh and the Nagegy's elemental are at a stalemate.
Outside the wall, as witnessed by Zeph and Garrett overhead, the hermit's Air elementals continue to rip down the line of attackers, but they seem to be losing some of their wind. Zeph unleashes a mild fireball, akin to a young dragon's fart and seriously chafes one of the kothruls loincloth.

Nagegy -- DM Jim Friday November 18th, 2011 4:58:19 PM "I think it would be suicide," Nagegy says as he places his clawed hands on the shoulders of Zeph and Garrett. His sudden appearance in Avis came as a surprise as he was just on the temple roof contemplating another spell, "but I think it would be fun to kill a few Karkasan's face to face. But of course, we should include Keela and Koko--if they want to come."
Musings -- DM Jim Friday November 18th, 2011 5:04:43 PM "This isn't exactly what I was thinking it would be, Tolly."
The man's friend gave him a wry look as he fended off a kothrul attacker, "What did you expect, tea and biscuits?"
"No, don't be silly, but there's a lot of them out there, Tolly. And look, the wizardess over there, she looks concerned, looks like we're going to lose the fight."
"Bah, she's just doesn't want to get any blood on her dress, or her shoes. You remember Lady Arvendahl? How we caught her that one time after she killed her suitor?"
Edward thought a moment, "Oh yeah, you rolled around on the floor screaming like a stuck pig and surrounded her in a circle of your own blood--and yeah, she didn't want to muss up her shoes stepping in it."
"I was not screaming, I was tactically diverting her attention while you hid in the corner."

Below them the battle wages on, few notice the Heroes of Bryn flying off, those who did, didn't have long to contemplate their flight as the fight was bloody and fierce. Luckily, seven of the ten ladders that had successfully grappled the top of the walls had been pushed back and their attackers defeated--yet three more ladders remained and more were sure to replace those that had fallen.
The wind whipped at their hair, brushed their scales harshly, as they raced forward. "Keep moving forward," Nagegy quipped, "funny how my father's words come to me now, at this moment."
-------------
As you may know by now, I'll be leaving Uncharted as your DM, but your replacement will be every bit as good as I, and perhaps even better.
If you didn't know, I started Hook City, with Donna's help, as their first DM--the games, and my first time DMing here. I made a poor decision last year and lost Hook City and I've always wanted it back. This does not mean I didn't want Uncharted, but when the opportunity came up this weekend, I made my desires known to Jerry. I didn't think he would want a sudden changeover, but when Jerry says jump, you jump and use jazz-hands :)
I will miss you all, you've been good roleplayers and I'm sure we will meet up again in another game either as DM's or players. I will try to help out as much as I can with Zach, please give him a warm welcome.
Good-bye and the best of luck to you all :)
DM Zach Wednesday November 23rd, 2011 8:46:21 AM
Hello all!
I'm excited to be taking over for Jim and working with you guys.
I have good news and bad news.
The good news, I get to pay Addison back for everything he has done to my group over the past 18 months in the Forged.
The bad news. You guys (and gal) have to put up with me pretty much FOUR-EV-ER (sorry that was my best Sandlot impersonation).
I'm going to try and make this as painless and seamless as possible. It will take me a few days to get into the swing of things as I am reading archives, DM notes, character sheets, wiki pages, etc. in an all out effort to acquaint myself with the going-ons of the game and your characters.
A few things about my DM style. As a rule of thumb I am... woefully inadequate when it comes to maps. This is a two part problem. I like nice pretty, detailed maps (much like the ones Addison uses as the DM of the Forged) and they are extremely time consuming. This means that when I do use them I am spending quite a bit of time to do so, which means I do so sparingly. But all is not lost. I tend to give PC's the benefit of the doubt when a map is not used.
Also, I make mistakes. I try to avoid them but it happens. Some times they happen frequently and can often be rather annoying. I apologize in advance and promise that if you point them out I will correct it as soon as possible. I don't get mad, and have plenty of experience with criticism. You won't hurt my feelings =).
My only redeeming quality I have I guess you can say is that... I am a rather consistent poster. Even if the post is just checking in, letting you know that I am waiting on someone else to post or the like.
All that being said, I am looking forward to having fun with you guys. If you need anything, my email is zsramage at yahoo dot com. Don't hesitate to ask. I will try and get enough info processed to make an IC post later today. It is however my daughters 3rd birthday so if I don't, I will get one up tomorrow on Thanksgiving.
Thanks for letting me be your new DM.
-Zach
P.S. I make no promise that I will be better, as good as, or even remotely comparable to Jim C in the DMing department. Feel free to hate me for it!

"I don't see why we should wait two days." Koko said after his question was answered. "I say we get this over with a few hours after dawn. That will give every one ample time to cast preparation spells."
"As for terms, I think the battle should commence in a large open area. I also think everyone should enter the battle with no prepatory magic already cast on them... that way you win by your skills and abilities alone, rather than the skills and abilities of your allies that aren't in the battle."

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:32/32/22 HP:32/42 Ki:6/10] d20+5=6 ; d20+5=8 ; Thursday December 1st, 2011 12:11:07 PM

He gestures across the battlefield and continues, "Should all these good creatures die for money? Perhaps there is another way."
He continues, "Is there no way that we can live in peace and share these bounties of the land?"

Keela [AC 19; HP 61/61] [Haste] Thursday December 1st, 2011 1:46:29 PM
Keela concentrates on writing down the terms.
Teams of champions to face each other all at once. Battle to begin tomorrow after dawn. No magicks are to be in place when the teams enter the arena. Once combat has begun, magic is allowed. Unconscious champions will be deemed "defeated." Opponents may not attack them.
