Correction from Previous round: I mentioned there were two off the starboard side shooting crossbows. It should read two off the port side shooting heavy crossbows and one off the starboard.
End Round 7: (so far) Peza certainly has her target pegged. Another shot like her previous one puts a bolt right next to the first one. With a girgle, the fishman toples bakwards and crumples at the base of the stern railing.
Harvest takes a peek over the railing to see if she can spot the fate of the sailor that went overboard but she cannot see the water near the hull.
OOC: post your change when you can.
Gerox plugs Sh7 again for 2 more points of damage. He still seems very capable of sticking it out.
Brom gets his first chance to make them eat steel and misses.
Crag tries to finish Sh7 off but misses with his axe again. Sh7 is still alive and well, or somewhat well.
Barratore DM OOC: I hadn't looked at your previous AC to realize you hadn't deducted the Enlarged penalty from your header.
The minotaur chooses to scare the fishmen by flopping a javelin towards Sh8.
DM OOC: I get errors when I try to view Lemick's CS and I see no spells listed so I can't help you there. On the other hand, there are two Cure Light Wounds potions from the flying head thingies. I can help you a little there.
Lemick recovers his senses, somewhat, but enough to toss Barratore one of the potions of Cure Light Wounds gotten from the Vargouille encounter. A Move Action this round to grab it, then drink it next round if you choose.

The sailor is nowhere in sight. And the ship is moving!!!
Harvest Moon looks about for a rope. But the only one is at the front of the ship with Barratore. Her own rope is down below with her pack. If only there had been a way to care all of her things with her at all times! Going into the water now, without being secured by a rope would be suicide, and Harvest Moon's instinct for survival will not allow her to do so.
Instead, she aims a quick flurry of punches at the nearest shark man before scuttling back five feet. In her throat is a growl, but in her eyes are tears of frustration.

Closing out End Round 7: Harvest Moon worries about the sailor that went overboard but can't see him and has no way at the moment to try a rescue. So she attacks a fishman next to her but misses, then moves a step.
Barratore grabs a healing potion to drink.
Artus steps back 5' feet but stays engaged with Sh4 and jabs at him. Hit AC10 but misses. The pilot, sorely wounded, makes his retreat towards the mast. Sailor 3 and 1 watch as the fishmen in the water vanish as they close towards the ship. They expect them to be boarding next. Sailor 2 joins Sailor 1. The other sailors are finishing tying down the sails and the Sea Sprite is starting to feel 'alive' now.
Start Round 8: Their numbers decreasing, the enemy still holds out hope for the tide to turn.
Sh4 continues racking and biting Artus. Hit AC18, 21, 20. The fishman seems bent on tearing the hafling appart, getting a claw and bite in for 8 more pts damage.
Sh3 takes on Brom with tooth and claw, Hit AC6, 20, 7, getting a claw between the barbarian's armor doing 4pts damage.
Sh7 continues trying to disembowel Crag slicing at him again, Hit AC5, 19, 24 (possible crit: Hit AC20, crit confirmed) Sh7 mighty claws and bite tear into Crag ripping him for 14 more hpts damage. OOC: that's a total of 21 dmg so far!
Sh5 takes a pot-shot at Peza to keep her busy, Hit AC15 (-4) = 11, the bolt embedding into the underside of the crow's nest.
Sh8 goes underwater but towards the ship, so does ShL1.
DM OOC: after so many rounds of crappy rolls, I cringed at the ones that came up this round. :( sorry.
End Round 8: (so far) Peza's first glance around the battle field shows Crag doing ok and targets Sh4. DM OOC: BTW, does Peza have Precise Shot feat? If not, then the Crit was not confirmed. Her bolt pierces the scales of Sh4, who, after being pummeled by Harvest so many times, crumbles, to Artus's relief!
Looking around, the sniper in the crow's nest sees a fin slicing through the water near the ship's hull then dives where the sailor went overboard. A red color quickly spreads from that spot.
Barratore goes prone with a healing potion in hand and cheers his friends on.
DM OOC: Barratore still has actions left, going prone is a Free Action.

OoC: Crag is now unconscious, correct?
DM OOC: Yes, sadly. Here's the rules for unconscious characters: If your hit point total is negative, but not equal to or greater than your Constitution score, you're dying.
A dying character immediately falls unconscious and can take no actions.
A dying character loses 1 hit point every round. This continues until the character dies or becomes stable.
So, starting next round Crag needs to start rolling to become stable or loose hit points, unless someone else stablizes him first.

On the character's next turn, after being reduced to negative hit points (but not dead), and on all subsequent turns, the character must make a DC 10 Constitution check to become stable. The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total.
Kinda tough but you have friends to help too with a Heal Check. And a N20 is automatic success.
Crag Hammerfist AC: 18, HP: -10/11, CMD: 13 Saturday December 31st, 2011 9:08:58 PM
(OOC: thought -10 was dead. Did that change with pathfinder?)
Peza Saturday December 31st, 2011 10:10:17 PM
Dead: The character's hit points are reduced to a negative amount equal to his Constitution score, his Constitution drops to 0, or he is killed outright by a spell or effect. The character's soul leaves his body. Dead characters cannot benefit from normal or magical healing, but they can be restored to life via magic. A dead body decays normally unless magically preserved, but magic that restores a dead character to life also restores the body either to full health or to its condition at the time of death (depending on the spell or device). Either way, resurrected characters need not worry about rigor mortis, decomposition, and other conditions that affect dead bodies.
ooc: i think it did change , here is what i found
Co-DM Jonathan - ok, so you are fighting...and maybe winning... Saturday December 31st, 2011 10:44:29 PM
OOC: What she said.
Yes, it did change. In 3.5 it was -10, in Pathfinder, it is your Con score as a negative number. Ex: Crag has Con 16, so he dies when his hit points reach -16. Or, as said above, a Disintegrate spell could do it outright.
You loose 1 hp each round until you stabilize. For Crag, it would be DC20 Con check, DC10+(10)=20.
Go to the Combat page in Pathfinder and scroll down to Injury and Deah section, about half way down.
A DC15 Heal Check will stabilize a dying character. Any sort of healing, even of 1hp, stabilizes a PC (good way to use that 0-level healing spell).

Sailor 3 and Sailor 2, remaining crouched, decide to move to the railing and ward off boarders again. The Pilot crouches behind an equipment locker waiting for the boarder too.
Round 9: Sh7 is in a pickle. An attempt to jump overboard would mean his two foes would get free swipes at him. Better to die fighting than running away, he chooses to attack Brom his biggest threat. His two claws and his bite hit AC:8, 14, 10. His many wounds impeded his attacks and they all miss.

End Round 9:
Harvest locates the spot on either side fo the ship the two fishmen tried to climb. They'll probably try again, although the ship is moving now, so they may not be in the same spot where they fell.
Sh7 ducks Brom's swing, despite being distracted by the sailor, his life spared for 6 more seconds.
Peza, not willing to shoot into melee and possibly hit a friend, and knowing that two more are poised to climb aboard, holds her crossbow steady waiting for a head to pop over the railing.
Crag sinks a little further down the long dark tunnel towards Gargul's domain.
Gerox 'slips' over to the port side when he hears a splash but sees nothing.
Lemick bounces into action and heads towards Crag to try to pull him back from Gargul's domain. DM OOC: putting Lemick at L13, a Double Move. You are now close enough to heal him without expending a Move Action. BTW: Welcome back!
Barratore repositions himself to deal out death from midship if any of the fishmen get so unlucky as to manage to climb aboard.
DM OOC: Since you take up a 3x3, T13 would be your center and Harvest would be in your way. I'll put your center at T12, standing upon one of the closed deck hatches.
Artus manages to drag Crag a little more further away from combat.
Sailor 1 attempt to distract the fishman again to give Brom an advantage. Combat Aid Another (Sailor's Standard Action for Round 10): DC10 = 8. This time the fishman has smartened up to the sailor's tactics and the sailor's diversion does not work.
The pilot and the other two sailors continue to wait for a boarder.
The Sea Sprite begins to pick up a few knots of speed, albeit in a circle.
Round 10: Sh5 keeps up with the ship's pace and sees a huge target lumber towards midship. He fires his heavy crossbow at Barratore, Hit AC4 (a N1). His Crossbow string snaps sending spray in his eyes, the bolt sinks towards Davy Jone's Locker. Disgusted, he dives under water.
Sh7 believes its god is pulling strings with Fate for him as he still is alive. His sharp claws and teeth try to draw blood. Hit AC7, 12, 7, all three mising again!
Sh8 tries to climb aboard again, Climb 15, this time managing to get over the railing. Note: due to the movement of the ship, his positioned changed (as he did not move in order to try to climb).
Peza is quick to notice the fishman coming up and fires her bolt (Readied Action) hurting him severely.
If that was not bad enough, the pilot jumps up to stab the fishman (AoO) with his dagger, Hit AC14, which, due to the fishman not being able to dodge the dagger (ie., loss of his Dex due to climbing) the dagger imbeds itself in scales, dmg 4, next to a bolt.
This fishman is vewy, vewy angwy, and bloody.
ShL1 also makes another attempt to board, Climb 8, but fails again. Gerox easily sees the larger than normal fishman angrily grasp at the slippery hull and splash back into the water.
Note: Harvest and Barratore were too far away for their AoO. sorry

End Round 10: DM OOC: on the assumption Lemick will take his Standard Action to heal Crag, I'm going to go ahead and post the round as that won't change any of the combat stuff, I don't think.
With about as much blood and gore as can be blasted from a fishman, Brom finally connects his sword to scales and puts an end to Sh7's miserable ballance between life and death. DM Note: you do realize this was Max Damage to one who was already near death, right? :p
Brom and Sailor 1 are now covered in guts 'n brains 'n stuff. There isn't gonna be a sailor sleeping well for many nights.
Crag hears the celestial train toot it's whistle and sees a distant bright light in the vacuous darkness of unconsciousness begin to approach.
Somewhere here Lemick will do some healing, my guess. Either the other CLW potion, spell, or Heal Check.
Harvest moves to engage Sh8 and tries unsuccessfully to distract it some.
On the other hand, that didn't turn out to be necessary as Peza, shooting from above, finds it easier to shoot into melee when looking down and manages to send her bolt into the fishman's chest, imbedding itself just above the chestbone and going down through the heart and stomach. The Sniper watches for more 'Incoming'.
Gerox moves to L9 (L8 is technically in the water) and Readies a small fireball for a Boarder's Surprise.
DM Note: you think playing 1st level sorcerer in Pathfinder frustrating? Try playing 1st level Anything in AD&D 1st Edition. :)
Barratore 'gently' shoves Sailor 3 aside and positions himself to clobber anyone trying to climb up. DM Note: you cover area P8-R10, O9-P9 being an equipment chest.
Artus looks about him and signs of relief are barely visible as the wrinkles around his strained face slacken a little.
Sailor 1 spits something gross out of his mouth and tries to keep himself steady.
Sailor 2 quickly checks the water on the starboard side but sees nothing.
Sailor 3 gives Barratore a wide berth and stays crouched, watching the minotaur's blade more than the water.
The pilot stabs Sh8 just for good measure. The ship creates waves as it moves in a lazy circle. (Thats what those squigly lines are, btw)
Round 11: Peza sees a fishman emerge from the water right in front ot Gerox and try to climb up the hull (at M8). Gerox hits him with his pebble of fire. Seriously hurt he still tries to climb up. Bluff Climb 22!
However it was a ruse! DM Note: the N20 was pure happenstance. OOC: Gerox, you may try a Sense Motive DC27 to see the ruse. I can explain the high DC later if you wish. If you make it, you notice the larger fishman coming up from behind and attack it instead.
To make matters worse, Peza, Barratore, and Gerox, of course see the other, larger fishman pop up and toss a net at Gerox! Range Touch Attack Hit AC25. Gerox finds himself Entangled.
Note: ShL1 is still in the water some 5-6' down, as well as Sh5. Sh5 looks pretty badly scarred, ShL1 is undamaged.
Note2: This is when I would say Danger! Danger, Will Robinson! but that's probably very obvious: The next round and Entangled victim can be pulled over the side with a successfull Grapple Check.
OOC: If I missed anything let me know.

"Yip!" The deck is cleared! Harvest Moon jumps and throws her fist into the air. But there are still shark men off the port side. Gerox Shale is caught in a net!
Harvest Moon rushes to the opposite rail to repel the shark man boarders. "Hoy!" she cries as Brom cuts down upon the rope holding Gerox Shale. This last Shark man is big. He is likely the leader. He is likely the one who challenged the SeaSprite from the false raft. At the moment, while in the water, Barratore Steelwind is the only one aboard with the reach of arms to attack this shark man. But the rope holding Gerox Shale now cut, the shark man will surely try to board.
Harvest Moon scuttles down the rail towards the aft. She will hide here, crouching behind the rail, and surprise him when he tries to climb up.

End Round 11:
Brom barely makes it to Gerox's side and in a desperate swing severs the lead rope of the net entangling the gnome.
Peza's aim at the leader fishman is hampered by numerous friends at the railing and she misses.
Lemick provides some healing to Crag, his wounds close up and he no longer hears that celestial train.
If my memory is correct, and sometimes it is, we re-roll 1's when healing. I've posted the question on the LnB. Good RoT (Rule of Thumb) is when rolling for healing, roll each die seperately so if one is a 1, you know it. ie: CMW is 2d8+2 or (1d8) + (1d8) +2; thus you know if one is a 1.
It would also help to say which spell/potion you are casting/using. :)
Harvest lets her joy resound but still worries about the fishman leader.
Gerox holds his breath, either waiting to scream in terror or go in the water. :) Answ: the net is as described in the Equipment. I'm picturing the webbing to be too narrow to get your hands through for anyone larger than Tiny.
However his friend comes to his aid and cuts the lead rope, so the danger of being pulled over into the water has past, for now. But the gnome is still tightly wrapped in the net.
Options: Escape Artist check DC20; Strength check DC25; or, if you already have a small blade in hand you can try to cut it at -2 Att rolls. It has 5hps.
Barratore scrambles over a toolbox and loose rigging rope to take a swipe at the leader but his unsure footing hampers his swing and the fishman leader ducks under water.
Round 12:
The leader and his last pirate push away from the ship in anger, the leader sneering "You no go anywhere. We come back! We take ship, eat you!", then the two dive out of sight.
The Seap Sprite continues it's circular journey, Artus issueing orders to the sailors in the the rigging to trim as needed. Even though moving in a circle, the ship has enough speed to make any more boarding difficult, not to mention the heroes waiting for any foolish enough to try.
Artus finally gives the order to slow the ship down to a crawl to see what can be done about the rudder.

"I do not swim well. But I have practiced a little while in Chessford. I think that it would be best to enter the water with a rope tied about us. This, in the same way we did during the storm. DM OOC: Q&A: Channeling energy causes a burst that affects all creatures of one type (either undead or living) in a 30-foot radius centered on the cleric. The amount of damage dealt or healed is equal to 1d6 points of damage plus 1d6 points of damage for every two cleric levels beyond 1st
Looks like pretty much everyone but Sailor 3 and Peza get's healed 3pts, but they didn't get hurt either.
Also, the LnB verified that you get to re-roll 1's when healing. So, the 2d8=2 means that both d8's were 1's. Now I'm not sure what potion of healing it was but it could be two CLW or one CMW. Either way, they should be re-rolled.
And, a CLW is 1d8+1, a CMW is 2d8+2, per spell description.
So, Lemick re-roll for the healing potion.

Round X:
As the Sea Sprite circles, the WLAers discuss who's gonna go for a swim.
Peza volunteers to remain in the crow's nest watching out for danger.
Harvest volunteers to go under the boat and so does Barratore and Brom. The monk comes back with her rope. Barratore ties himself to the rail. The knot looks good around himself but pathetic on the railing. That is quickly fixed by a sailor.
DM OOC: There's no limit as to how many can go. From what I gather, Harvest, Barratore, and Brom are going. With everyone healed 3pts by Lemick, I highly suggest at least one more of that Channel Pos Energy before you go into the water. If we don't hear from Lemick by Sunday, I'll go ahead and roll the d6. He fingers the net he was wrapped up in and an idea comes to him. He turns to the others and asks, "Is it possible to somehow screen the rudder off with nets or something else to at least give the divers some form of protection? If nothing else it would at least slightly slow down the fishmen or channel the way they can attack. Maybe we can sew some of these nets together and put them under the rudder to keep things from attacking from below. Then our spotters from above can hopefully see them coming, shoot arrows and warn the divers?"
Gerox using his mending spells will start putting the captured nets (don't know how many?) together to form a larger net.

DM OOC: just a quick Q&A for now: I counted 6 nets thrown. However one went down with the sailor that got eaten by the sharks, and one that missed Harvest was pulled back into the water. So that leaves 4 nets on deck.
For the net to encompass a medium creature, i'd say it would cover close to a 10x10 area laying flat.
The problem of 'sewing' the nets together is more Time than skill. Any of the sailors can do that and together they can probably do so to a satisfactorily degree for the purpose suggested.
How practicall it will work will be a good test. Tell me how you want the shape, 20x20 or 10x40, etc.
As far as the Underwater Combat, let's use Pathfinder for now. I'll post the question on the LnB in the meantime.

Gerox helps tie the nets together (does mending cantrip help?) and then adds weights to the bottom so they don't just float. (ooc We have 6 nets but I am not sure how big they are. Not finding the description in Pathfinder) He then ties the two ends onto poles which can be dipped into the water to act as a screen for the workers.
Gerox asks the brave swimmers, "Which part of the rudder do you want screened? Also you seem to be gearing for war to fight the fishmen but do you have a plan on fixing the rudder? Make sure you bring some tools with you. We can lower them in a bag from the side of the boat so they don't weigh you down. I suggest some sharp knifes to cut with, a hatchet, a hammer, some rope, and some grease.
I would suggest having a couple chosen for guard duty and others whose job it is to fix the rudder. That way you don't waste time. Finally I can cast a light spell on something of one of the workers to help you see but it might also attract attention. Your choice."
DM Note: I had counted 4 nets, but not all threw nets, and those were not counted. So 6 sounds right enough. Mending will help the torn nets. Previous post I calculated the nets to cover a 10x10 area laying flat. The rudder is not far below the surface, see picture, at max depth of 10', so light is not a problem.

Co-DM Jonathan - to the rudder!.... 4d8=13 ; Tuesday January 10th, 2012 4:26:32 PM
Preparations to fix the rudder are made by piecing the nets together to form a netting wall 30' long and 20' deep. Two sailors climb into the yawl boat and are lowered to just above the surface and the net is dropped into the water. The two tridents strapped to the bottom of the length of net insure the net will sink and not just float around. The sailors also take with them some carpentry tools that they can hand over to the Rudder-fixer-uppers if they need them.
Peza keeps an eye out from the crow's nest for the tell-tale sign of sharks or sharkmen. He keen eyes do not spie anything, yet.
Lemick watches the waters from the deck. The angle is not good to spie out underwater critters but he's there just in case.
Crag comes to with a lot of devine healing and checks himself for all his parts. He then casts more healing on all the wounded that gather around him.
Gerox lines the railing with Lemick and Crag, ready to pull up on the ropes of their friends at their signal of panic.
Lastly, when things look about as prepared as can be, sailors lining the railing and standing by to pull on ropes, Artus orders the last tiny bit of sail wrapped up, the anchor dropped, and the Sea Sprite comes to a stop once again.
Harvest, Brom, and Barratore climb over the rail, tied to ropes, with trident or javelin in hand. They take several big breaths then in unison, jump in.
Their momentum takes them 10' deep before they straighten out and start swimming toward the rudder. The water is comfortable enough and the visibility is good at that depth, 130'. (OOC: this is the 4d8x10 Woldian underwater visibility rules).
DM Note: I calculate the ideal spot for jumping in the water as being the G, H, I squares, that is, G is 5' from the stern rail proper, H is the next square over, and I the next. The ropes would be tied to the rail further forward where the distance from rail-to-water level is less, so less distance to climb back aboard.
Swiming: a character without a Swim Speed can move 10' on a successful Swim check DC10. You are already at the right depth, so all you need is two (20' of move) successful Swim checks to make it to the rudder.
Oh, and check your hit points in your header. Crag healed you guys some more. AND, don't forget any Armor Check penalties for armor worn, weapons carried in hand. Treat any weapon carried in hand as the same Armor Check penalty for shield, ie -1.
In the movies swimers tended to hold their daggers in between their teeth to keep their arms free. Not something you can do with a javelin or trident though. :{

Underwater Round 1: The three Rudder-fixers spot the rudder readily and swim towards it. The net wall comes into view as they approach the rudder. The net wall blocks off one side, the ship itself blocks off another, the surface is another side, but three sides remain open, to the left, right, and from below.
The problem with the rudder is quickly seen. A net has been wrapped and tied around it in such a way to pin it, forcing the ship to go in a circle. A few moments with a sharp edge should do the trick to free the rudder.
A few moments, though, is a looooong time underwater with danger lurking about.
The leader of the Sahuagin pirates has his honor at stake and will never be able to recover his position in his tribe unless he takes something back, like a hero's head.
Through a signal only known or heard by sharks and Sahuagin, the command to attack is given. The shark strikes upward from the depths at such speed as to make the jaw drop! For only a brief second a blur is seen and then it hits.
DM OOC: it occured to me that the 'visibility' would not apply depth-wise the same as 'visibility' at same level. That is, the deeper one goes, the less visibilty, so looking down, one would not see as far as if looking straight ahead. My wild guess would be that visibility looking down would be only half as much.
Target d3 = 3, in order this would be Brom.

The crewmates gasp in horror as blood spreads, staining the pistine waters. Only those directly in the water and the two on the yawl boat know what's going on.
Those holding the lines wait tense seconds hoping the signal to pull one up won't be too late.
Brom, knowing danger lurked, tried to fight back, but bubbles and blood obscure his vision and the impact jar him so his trident misses his attakcer.
OOC: BTW, the shark's AC is 2 worse this round but an 8 is still a miss. Sorry.
DM Note: Brom, if that was a N1, make a Dex Check DC10 to keep hold of the trident, use reg bonuses for Dex, no penalties.
Lemick tries to think how he could be of help in using his Channel Energy ability. At first he thinks of running down into the bowls of the ship but realises that the ship itself would imped his positive energy from reaching the swimmers. However, he could jump into the yawl boat, or slither down the ropes to the yawl boat and do it from there.
DM Note: Jump would be DC10, but staying in the rocking boat after the jump would be a Dex DC15 to all in the boat. A Slither down Rope would be a simple climb DC10 but but would take 1 whole round, whereas the Jump is a Move, leaving you with a Standard still to use. :)
If you choose one of these options, or another daring action, post it first to cover this round, then post your actions for the current round. Note: if you fall in the water, that'll be another Move.
Barratore continues to poke the shark with his javelin. Two nasty holes are now spewing shark blood. But you know sharks, they take a licking and keep on ticking.
Harvest Doesn't want to have to come back down to free the rudder and trusts the other two to feed, er, fend off the shark so she starts cutting the net with her knife.
OOC: You still haven't updated your HPs in header, right?
DM Note: don't need a To Hit, but do need damage. A dagger does 1d4, I'd say a good hunting knive would do 1d3. Would your Utility knife be smaller than a hunting knife? if so, 1d2 damage sound about right? When posting next round, roll dmg twice, once for this round, then for the current round.
Shark's turn: Sharks like to bite and rend and shake their heads back and forth ripping flesh to tiny bits, busting bones and just making a gory mess of things. Worse still, the smell of blood in the water can attrack shars from dozens of leagues away!
Shark1 continues biting down on Brom oblivious, for now, of the javelin that keeps poking it. Bite Attack Hit AC18, dmg 8

Between Brom's Last Stand and Barratore's Desperate Stand the shark ends up twitching at the end of a trident and javelin. But you know sharks, it may not be quite dead yet!
Harvest feels the net give a little at her first try then come apart with her second try. A good yank and the rudder is free!
Crag tries to scare any other sharks out there away by making a big splash when he tries to climb down Harvest's rope.
DM Note: makes sense, though, as the rope would be pressed up against the side of the ship due to Harvest having pulled it up against the hull when she went under it, so a good grip would be hard. :)
Brom's unconscious bleeding body starts to sink. Not only that, drowning is a REAL possibility, as unconscious things don't tend to be able to hold their breath.

She tags Barratore Steelwind upon the leg and makes a gesture of grabbing, she points to Brom, and then makes a motion that is the tugging of a rope. She then, herself, fastens one hand around the netting that once wrapped the rudder and tugs upon her own rope. Relief washes over crew, navigator, and many of the young heroes as the Fixer Fleet hoves into view. With the pirate shark-men fled and their 'fishing' platform destroyed, Artus Morindim shouts out commands and the SeaSprite is away! A good wind blows quarterly and the sloop picks up speed, enough that a foamy white bow wake sprays the bow. Obstacles and victory, the feeling of LIFE for those who remain surge through veins.
Many of the heroes have gathered to look over the jewelry of the Sahaugin and the strange jewel that the sailors found on the 'fishing' platform. The jewelry is of many shapes and styles and show differing amounts of wear. (Know Geography DC10: Highlight to display spoiler: { there are Elennian, Alisidurian, dwarf, elf, and Tauric styles represented in the jewelry, no aquatic style.}
One chain that holds a black obsidian stone is so obviously dwarf-made that it attracts the eye immediately. And the stone is large, fully the size of a cherry. An apricot. An child's ball... It grows larger and larger and larger until the black volcanic stone is a six foot sphere on the deck of the ship!! A humming begins, like voices, and then the sphere of rock splits open while waves of heat pour fourth. "What magic is this?" mumbles Crag, unsure of what actually lay before them. He waits to see what this 'Dwarf' has to say before deciding to shake his hand, or split his noggin.
Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP10/10; CMD 18) - Al Tuesday January 17th, 2012 2:31:28 PM
Harvest Moon backs away. The alarm on her face is clear in the widening of her exotic elf-born eyes. Her hands come up to protect her face against the wash of heat that comes from the stone. And, when the heat subsides along with the size of the growing stone, she peeks from around those hands, alarm now replaced by curiosity.
The glimpse that she had received of the dwarf had touched as with a finger of memory. Now she looks upon him to understand why.
"Who are you?" she asks of the dwarf. No questions about the incredible, barely believable, method of his coming. A simple question of identity. She lowers her warding hands and tips her head to one side, the wisp of hair that so typically hangs down from her forehead, now partially dry, falls down into her eyes. She blows it from her face with a sharp puff of air before adding, "Who are you? And how is it that I think that I know you?"
Bralin Tuesday January 17th, 2012 5:03:26 PM
The dwarf curls into a fetal position and lies motionless on the deck for several moments, except for his dark, inset eyes, which flick about erratically. He wears dull black banded mail and carries a steel shield encased in a black cover with the blue triangle of the WLA stitched upon it. A dwarven waraxe is wedged between his armor and backpack, and a light mace is tied to his side.
After a few moments, his eyes refocus, and he registers the presence of the group. His hand jerks toward the axe handle, but stops just as suddenly.
Instead of pulling his weapon, the dwarf slowly climbs to his feet. Unsteady on the rolling ship, he grabs the nearest solid object to balance himself, and looks about.
"I am Bralin Stone..." He begins, trails off, starts agains only to stop mid-breath as he spots Harvest Moon. His eyes linger over her form as confusion plays over his brow and features. He starts again, distractedly, "Bralin, The Stonesinger. I seek permission to join your quest."

His blade stands at the ready and simply waits.
Permission was not his to give. One of the clerics should speak and Barratore thinks that one should be the dwarf. The fighter remains poised and ready.

Still at her post high above in the crowsnest .... Peza is momentarily stunned at the stones transformation , She quickly raises her crossbow .... taking aim at the growing stone .... she holds her fire ... for the moment ... waiting ......
Her friends reaction keeps her from firing ...." is it a trap ?? ... the shark guys were tricky ... careful Harvest "'
"A dwarf ?? .. from the stone ?? .. was he held captive ?? " then she spots the blue insignia on the dwarfs shield .. " He's got a WLA badge on his shield ." ... as she lowers her crossbow a little

Crag puts his axe away and steps forward, still not completely sure what to make of this.
"I am Crag Hammerfist. How is it ya be jumping out of rocks like ye did? Where did ye come from?" Crag waits for an answer hoping to be able to welcome another Dwarf to the group.
Lemick 4-Leaf Sted/Anthony hp 9/9, ac 20/12/18 Tuesday January 17th, 2012 9:35:19 PM
Lemick isolates himself prepared for an aerial assualt until everyone is sure they fly the flags of the Fixer fleet. Even then he keeps an eye out for a ruse of some sort.
Just as he begins to relax, the newcomer appears from a rock. A rock! Relay? This would normally seem strange, but bat vulters, sharkmen, a mermaid versus centaur conflict -- a dwarf he can handle -- not much difference between a rock and a dwarf anyways.
Lemick lets the others do the talking and trys to keep an ear out as the captains speak of the remaining voyage.
Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP10/10; CMD 18) - Al Wednesday January 18th, 2012 8:41:08 AM
Her vision blurs. One SeaSprite separates into two SeaSprites one imposed upon the image of the other. One Bralin splits, attempting to become two. The sun above. The many persons around. A frown drops onto Harvest Moon's face and she bears down as she shakes her head, and tries to clear her sight.
Memories. Curious memories touch her as from far away. She feels a man. He is kindly and warm. She remembers his stories. The feeling is as of warm sun and green grasses. In this feeling she knows that the Wold is alive, and the aliveness is all around. She remembers his stories. But she cannot remember what they are about.
The twoness, the sense of twos, it relaxes, relenting in its struggle. The twos accept their oneness and all things in her vision come together once again. The SeaSprite is again one. The sun. The sea. The people. They are all as they were. The twoness is gone. The memories are gone. But the feeling still remains. It is a curious feeling, but it is a good feeling.
"I am Harvest Moon," she says to the dwarf, Bralin the Stonesinger. And, in saying the words, she knows them to be true with a strange certainty that she had never felt before. She is Harvest Moon.
Gerox Shale Hps 9/9 d6=4 ; Wednesday January 18th, 2012 9:03:35 AM
Gerox watches the dwarf emerge from the rock, his eyes going wide and then a grin splits across his face at the magic involved. "I gotta learn how to do that!" He scampers back down the lines and moves towards the dwarf looking for signs of injury.
He slowly reaches out and touches the dwarf, making sure he is real and then says, "Welcome to the Sea Sprite. Are you alright? Do you need some assistance? You have the mark of the WLA. Are you a member?"
ooc Rolled a 4 for hitpoints.
Bralin the Stonesinger Wednesday January 18th, 2012 9:06:18 AM
Bralin nods slightly to Harvest Moon, his eyes glinting slightly with...recognition?
The dwarf's face turns toward Crag and attempts to answer. "I have come from The Chamber, sent by the very stones. The manner of my passage in known but to The Chamber. I have been instructed to offer my services to those I would meet. I perceive this means you."
Under a dull black helm, his head swivels to take in the ship and the sea. The downward shift in his features, and his deathgrip on the raililng, make plain he is not comfortable on the ocean.
"I confess I know not where I am," he notes, doubtfully.
Bralin the Stonesinger Wednesday January 18th, 2012 9:14:56 AM
The dwarf takes Gerox's touch with a flash of irritation, which passes just as quickly.
"I require no healing. And, yea, I am a long time member of the Woldian League."
Crag Hammerfist AC: 18, HP: 11/11, CMD: 13 Wednesday January 18th, 2012 10:35:16 AM
Still somewhat unsure, Crag extends a hand to Bralin. "Welcome then. Always good to be with fellow Dwarves, even if they start by popping outta rocks. You are in the middle of the sea on The Sea Sprite. We, and the approaching fleet are on our way to a place called Rum. It's being bulit, and we are going to help out and deal with issues that may arise, on behalf of the WLA."
"As far as being unsteady on your feet, that's moving of the water underneath us. I still don't like being on the water, but you get used to it after a few days. Wouldn't eat any big meals for a few days either if i was you."
Crag steps back to allow the others to introduce themselves.

Co-DM SteveK - SeaSprite and the Fixer Fleet Wednesday January 18th, 2012 1:58:02 PM
Young the warriors may be, but in their long trip across the seas they have learned caution. It takes several minutes of careful words from the seven heroes and the dwarf stranger before a hand is extended, names exchanged. The fact of the Woldian Badge prominent on this Bralin's shield seems to put many at ease, and a collected sigh is heard when Crag offer his hand.
Bralin and the other heroes can look around and see the dozen sailors that are left on the ship heave a collective sigh of relief. There isn't going to be another fight! A weatherbeaten halfling with a barritone voice calls from near the rudder. "So, a rescue or a sending, and a WLA member already, eh? Master Bralin, you are on MY ship and owned by the Woldian League of Adventurers. The SeaSprite is sailing with a whole fleet of Fixers and other hangers-on from Elennia to establish a new trading town to open the west of the continent of Yrth. The group that is before you is the scouting team for the WLA to get on the ground floor of this new city. As you have no where else to go, why don't you set up with them and the WLA hospitality until we arrive?"
..............
By the time heroes, sailors, and the navigator, Artus Morindim get fully moving, the SeaSprite has merged once more with the Fixer Fleet. The Fixers aren't completely trusting, and a couple Fixers with 3 tough looking armsmen Teleport to the SeaSprite!
Once they verify the SeaSprite is who they say they are, the Fixers get to work, fully healing everyone, and mending ship and sails from the effects of the storm and battles. A scribe comes over later by a small boat and asks for a history. And finally, the junior Fixer stays to help.
"I'm Bertold", he begins over the evening meal, "and we should be only days from Rum. How exciting! We'll be looking for land every day now, and I'm to support this ship as the captain decrees." He looks around at Artus who only nods at the adventurers. Shrugging, Bertold continues. "So... is there anything you would like me to do to help?"

The minotaur extands a hand after Crag Hammerfist, "I am Barratore Steelwind of the Starlight clan. Well met Bralin Stonesinger. Barratore stands just over 9 feet and wears a thoroughly soaked set of studded leather armor. A hand and a half sword is on his back and a pair of javelins as well Barratore takes a position at the bow again, now that the excitement is over and fixes his eyes out to the horizon and the approaching fleet. His mind is not on the fleet but much further away. Despite the days excitement, still he daydreams of more.
Over dinner, Barratore nods to Bertold and after chasing down a large bite shark with some ale he simply poses the question back, "Is there anything that you can do to assist?"
Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP10/10; CMD 18) - Al Wednesday January 18th, 2012 4:58:19 PM
Harvest Moon hides when the armed men appear upon the deck with a startling pop of air. Such fantastical things are the stuff of unbelievable stories. And yet, she is with friends that can heal with light, that can cause men to become unconscious by producing colors, and they have encountered lion men and shark men. (One of their very own is a bull man!) Yet, one must surely become accustomed to such things. The armed men seemed little disturbed by the manner of their own coming. And, after the armed men are revealed to come from the Fixer Fleet, Harvest Moon comes out, exhibiting very great curiosity.
She fetches her book when Scribe Bertold asks for a history, and Harvest Moon points to the places upon her map as she speaks of the storm, the Island of the Batwinged Heads, and the false Raft of the Sharkmen. Of course, she explains, the locations on her map are not exact, as there was no way of knowing how far they had been blown by the storm.
"Could you speak of the history of the Fixer Fleet," asks Harvest Moon of Fixer Bertold at the evening meal, "from the time we were separated until now? Did we lose ships? Which ones?"
"And ... " Her eyes roam to Peza, who has explained so many things to her. "We have captured jewelries from the sharkmen we have encountered. We must sell them," she says. "Do you know of anyone in the fleet interested in buying such things?"
Peza Wednesday January 18th, 2012 8:48:33 PM
Climbing down from the crowsnest platform .... Peza makes her way to Bralin Stonesinger ... " welcome aboard " as she extends her hand "i'm Peza Tefani ... from Plateau City "
"I'll show you to our sleeping area ... set you up with a hammock and a place to store your stuff ... its pretty basic nothing fancy ... but the cook aboard the Seasprite is pretty good .... and looks like shark is on the menu tonight " grins the raven haired girl ..
" So when did you join the WLA ?? and where ?? " inquires the petite girl ..[5'4"] " I heard about them in Plateau city .... but met them all in South Harbor ... thats we we set sail from ..."
After Harvests question .. Peza adds " can you tell us anything about the jewerly ?? plus anything about them sharkmen ... i've never seen them before ... not that i travelled much out in the ocean "
Bralin the Stonesinger Wednesday January 18th, 2012 8:54:08 PM
Bralin takes the hand of dwarf and minotaur. "Well met Hammerfist. Well met Steelwind."
The dwarf greets all, nods assent at the suggestion of the ship's helm to reside with the group, and accepts the teleportation of the Fixers in stride. Bralin has seen more than his fair share of magical wonders in his many years, and is unmoved by a mere teleport spell.
He starts at Harvest's question of the Fixer, Bertold, and then joins the conversation. "Fixer Bertold, can ye provide a portal to The Catacombs?"
Bralin goes on to explain the wondrous store to his new found companions - a place accessible by magic from almost any city in the Wold that buys and sells gold, gems, jewelry, and magical items of every description.
"Tis by far the best place to exchange your newly won prizes for whatever ye need," he states.
Bralin the Stonesinger Wednesday January 18th, 2012 8:56:41 PM
In response to Peza, Bralin replies. "I became a member of the Woldian League in the Cinnamon Valley, some seven years ago."
"I can cast a Detect Magic on your goods, if no one has done so," Bralin offers to the group.
If they accept, he does.
Lemick 4-Leaf Sted/Anthony hp 9/9, ac 20/12/18 Wednesday January 18th, 2012 9:02:27 PM
Lemick eventually offers his hand to the new arrival, "Lemick here priest of luck and one ready to put his feet on firm ground. It's awful being attacked from the air, and sea. Still, the company couldn't be any better."
---
At the meal, Lemick inquires if any other ships have been spotted since the storm, in particular those not with the Fixer fleet?
