Setting Up Camp

Co-DM SteveK - Artus' Speech
Saturday February 4th, 2012 8:44:20 AM

ooc: unforeseen complications at work. Terribly, terribly sorry I did not post for 2 days.

........................

The night is cool and the day's work has ceased not only in the WLA compound but all around in the nieghborhood as well. So quiet it is that anyone can occasionally hear the hollow sound as a wave strikes a ship down in the harbor even above the crackle of the fire. No one is moving about the streets at night, especially alone, and so as Brom considers it, two former Sailors urge him to stay. (ooc: Brom, Highlight to display spoiler: {your choice however, if you still want to go walking alone at night in an unfamiliar place with no company at 2nd level...)}

Despite the halfling's offer, it sure takes a while for him to gather his thoughts! Finally, finally, the little Navigator begins to speak. "Cost of land is high because the triumverate who's gonna run this place needs a box in the sand for emergencies, public works, paying government hires, and other things a government does to govern. Now, this land cost may go down after a while if there is lots of lots left open. It may go up after a while if there are so many people who want the land that they start bidding for it. I've seen the same effect over the cost of ships at a port." Artus munches on the end of a long-stemmed clay pipe before continuing. "But what do you care about the price of fish?"

"Every group of heroes I've ever seen that is worth thier salt is GIVEN land from local governments for jobs well done, saving maidens in distress, and beating off a town's certain death." Morindim turns his head and spits in the fire. "Save your money to equip yourselves. Be good. Get noticed. And they'll give you it for free. You can scrimshaw that down, cause it won't change."

It takes a minute or two of the fire popping to realize that Artus is done talking. A little more wordy than Captain Sal Theringer would have been, but salty advice just the same.

.........................

The next week is full of work for the heroes. Besides helping out with the building of the WLA compound, five of the 'sailors turn out to be rather excellent teachers. After a week of intensive training with any one of them, each WLA hero is better at climbing, handling animals, acrobatics, riding, or swimming. All five of them are also able to teach proficiency in a wide range of weapons as well.

Crag listens to the wise words of Artus. "Aye Gerox. He has the right of it. In my travels, successful adventurers are often given land as reward. No reason that won't be working with us. Let us wait and see what happens for now."

Crag works hard, helping out around camp, and takes advantage of the training offered to learn how to swim, and get a little better at climbing. Still, he begins to grow reatless around camp, and looks to the surrounding areas, wondering what might await in the great unknown.

Brom thinks that he could make some easy cash, but defers to the sailors and stays (I thought it was still early in the day).

Brom spends the week learning horsemanship (riding and handle animal) from the WLA trainers. He hadn't seen much use for it in the city but out here it may come in handy.

He likes that he can get land without spending his own coin.

Peza
Saturday February 4th, 2012 11:44:16 PM

Peza enjoys the work of building the WLA's base of operations .... doing anything that will help ...... she does take some time to walk about the surrounding area a little ... taking an intrest in the local foilage ...flowers , bushes and the trees .... and even the local wildlife ....especially birds ....[future animal companion] ....

Having grown up as a city girl from Plateau City .... she doesnt feel that comfortable out in the woods but likes the creative landscapes built in the city .... she hopes to bring some of that too the WLA compound ... and surrounding area ..

Peza reflects on the trip from South Harbor to Rum .... the dangerous encounters they were involved in ... how the members fought and worked together .... Barratore and Brom ... the mighty duo who stood tall againist the sharkmen ...and even before that in south harbor vs the thugs on the docks ...most of the group fought well in close combat ... but that wasn't her strength ... her crossbow aided the group from a distance .... and well indeed .... that would be what she brings to the battle .... [crossbow -style combat feat] .... but she needed something else when she would have to stand up close ... her little sickle just wasnt up to the task .... the sharkmen had climbed aboard the seasprite ...something tocut then down was needed... the big swords of Brom and Barratore were too unweildy for her size .. and the dwarfs axes while apealing for their chopping power didnt fit what she wanted .... so she talked and researched with the WLA staffers/trainers .... and a solution was found .... a chopping swording ...a Falcata ...[WLA weapon prof]

[Falcata: This heavy blade has a single sharp, concave edge and a hook-shaped hilt. Its shape distributes the weight to give it the momentum of an axe with the cutting edge of a sword.]

Bralin the Stonesinger
Sunday February 5th, 2012 4:46:29 PM

Bralin nods in agreement with the words of Artus.
"Wisely spoken," he murmurs.

The week passes, and Bralin spends time training with the sailors, even though he has already learned some skills with the WLA. At other times he can be found sitting in remote corner, staring intently at the orb of obsidian cupped in his gnarled hands.

During the digging of some post holes, the sailors hit stone, and Bralin helps dig it out. The rock is black and porous, of a like he's never seen before. And in mere days, the dwarf starts amassing a rather impressive collection of pumice.

Gerox agrees to wait on buying his own land but it gets him to thinking that maybe he could invest in someone else's stake. It would be a way to have more eyes in the new settlement of Rum and gain some loyalty in the populace which could come in very useful in the future. He decides to keep his eyes open for some honest folks trying to build a stake who could use some help.

Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP18/18; CMD 18) - Al
Monday February 6th, 2012 10:36:28 AM

The more that Harvest Moon thinks back on the words of Navigator Artus Morindim, the greater becomes her confusion. In the Contested Kingdoms, ownership of territories was a matter of strength. If you could defend your territory then ownership was yours until you could not. So who now owns these territories of Rum? And if they have the power of ownership, then why is there concerns over claiming lots?

But life has proven so far that there are many things that she will not understand. Some of these mysteries are revealed to her with time. Thelonious had said that some of the mysteries would never be revealed, and that this was part of the beauty of life, that life required mysteries for people to strive towards. This idea seems right, and some small part of Harvest Moon acknowledge it as such, even though, the other parts of herself cannot figure out why it is so. Another mystery.

These questions are largely pushed aside, however, in the days that follow. There is much work to do upon the Lot of the League Adventurers. There is much training in the care of animals, in climbing, in swimming, in the art of tracking and the lay of the land, in all of these things that aid them in fulfilling their duties as League Adventurers.

Magic stone of light that circles her head is very convenient in the evenings when she works upon her book of maps. Every now and again, her work brings up the thought that the League Adventurers promise to provide for their members knowledge of things. If they are to be these League Adventurers, then they must work to know many things as well as work hard in such things as fighting and exploring. How is such a thing done? It is a thing towards which more thought must be applied.

Each evening, in addition to the work upon her book of maps, finds Harvest Moon with her collection of seeds. Over the days, she investigates the names of each. Over the days, she draws them in her book. Over the days, she contemplates what to do with them. The lot of the League Adventurers is clearly too small for a garden of such as these. But they cannot be kept captive. Something must be done.

So, on the fifth day after claiming the lot of the Woldian League of Adventurers, Harvest Moon sets out on a clear afternoon, and heads to the north. At the edge of the lots allocated to the city of Rum, Harvest Moon opens each packet of seeds and lets them free.

The land was settled and Barratore dives into enhancing his martial training. Maneuvering, hand to hand, the game of inches. To slip left or right, how to keep speed and footing over debris strewn terrain and how to incapacitate an opponent.

With little coin, there is not much else to do, but Barratore is of the same thinking as Brom and when they both have a few moments, Barratore heads across the street. He leaves his weapons behind, bringing a keg instead. "if we are to be competitors and neighbors we should be more familiar with each other. I am Barratore Steelwind of the Starlight clan"

*note: the keg of ale is for Brom and Barratore

Co-DM SteveK - Meet the Neighbors
Tuesday February 7th, 2012 11:43:59 AM

The WLA Initiates put thier energy into learning new skills and building the compound. In thier spare time, there is some helping with and getting to know nieghbors, discovering the odd stone, and letting a packet of seeds dance to thier destiny in the breeze.

There are also LOTS of Fixers around, swarming over the ships to repair them after the trip. They are setting repairs for not only the Fixer Fleet (including the SeaSprite), but the Rhemoras who helped along the voyage as well. On the seventh day, the Fixers disperse, the fleet and docks complete. It looks like most of them sail to a rocky island near the entrance to the bay and start building things there. The others break off into smaller groups and begin helping the neighborhoods.

Striding up the muddy street looks to be a group who do not have a particular job to do at the moment. As soon as the lead one sees the tents on the future WLA site, they jump to it! "Blessed Day to you, Woldian League", says a bear of a human with a great smile on his shaggy face. It is Bertold, the Fixer who was on the SeaSprite before landing! Bertold and his team only need a vague affirmative, and they are about the WLA tents, magically mending, cleaning, erecting. Bertold and two accociates are repairing armor, cleaning weapons, and set up at a table to Reset the entire expeditions equipment right then!
...........

Across the way at Scully's Heroes, the adventuring team is lounging about thier entrance as Barratore and Brom walk across the street. Smoothly, Scully calls across the street "Oh, how nice and neighborly of you, sending your pet cow with a peace offering. Just put that keg over here and plod on back to your side of the street."

The other 'Heroes' are standing up, and Barratore and Brom can see each one of the other team are present.

Scully, the armored leader, a calculated sneer on his face.

A half-elven bard, radiantly confident and superior, toys with his guittern.

A quiet man stands, hiding his boyish face in the folds of a dark cloak.

Lupo, the Barbarian moves to guard Scully, the fanged necklace always about his neck.

A thin human owlishly blinks at Barratore as he sips from a mug, then hiccups.

A gnome in mystical symboled robes grins happily from the tent entrance.

A swashbuckling acrobat brilliantly garbed in reds and golds arrogantly stands a few feet away.

A hairy bear-like cleric of Domi puts aside a large mace and grins.

......................

The sound of Scully's voice is easily heard in the WLA compound and Bertold shakes his head and shrugs. "No blades, no damaging spells", he tells the heroes on the WLA side of the street. "Remember, the WLA are supposed to be the good guys."

One of the trainers on hand-to-hand scowls and adds his two coppers. "But there's nothing in the rules that says you can't stuff their head into the mud until they blow bubbles. Would be good to not hear that racket over there."

Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP18/18; CMD 18) - Al
Tuesday February 7th, 2012 3:07:41 PM

It is curious. It is as though Fixer Bertold expects them to engage in fighting with the Leaper men. The trainer who teaches many of the same things that Thelonious once taught her seems to wish it as well.

But to strike first ... in anger ... It does not seem right. Returning in kind, though ...

Harvest Moon rushes across the street, getting in front of Barratore Steelwind. Despite their near absurdly disproportionate sizes, the small half-elven girl makes to push the huge minotaur back toward the lot of the League Adventurers.

"Do not share that with them, Barratore Steelwind," she says in a haughty voice. "You can see that they will quickly become drunken and fall after stumbling about." She turns and bares her teeth fiercely at the one named Scully. "They will soil themselves."

"You have a funny name," she taunts. "Why are you called Scullery's Heroes? Is it because you wash many dishes?" Then the small girl laughs, high and clear. "We will go now. And we will leave you to wash your dishes."

Lemick watches as catcalls begin and Harvets rushes to stop the situation. He's amused with with the sight due to the size differences. Offering his own frown as her good intentions turn back to name calling. Still it's all in fun until blades are out and real danger is about.

While curious as to their potential, Lemick isn't really willing to give up his limited skill sets to them in exchange.

Looking to others, and in a lower voice so as not to alert the Scullies, "Anyone hear of something that would be more in line with our talents. I've got blisters forming on my blisters."

Bralin the Stonesinger

"When the need arises, we shall be called," Bralin replies to Lemick philosophically. The dwarf has drifted over toward the road at the sound of the jesting. Still on the WLA side, he waits to see the mercenaries' reaction to Harvest's words.

I don't have much gold to invest but still might be able to help them out and give myself a solid investment for my later years? Never to early to worry about a pension for my old age? Do you know of anyone?"

Then the fighters of the group get into their usual trouble and Gerox excuses himself and moves into a position to help out if needed hoping the brawl doesn't take effect. He notices his gnome counter-part and keeps a close eye on him if trouble does start.

Crag spent his time with the weapon trainers learning how to use a Halberd. "Never know when you are gonna end up fighting in the water or need a weapon with some reach" he thinks to himself after remembering the recent encounter with the sharkmen.

He sits back listening to the others as the attempt at "being neighborly" is met with taunts. He stands, and finishes off his mug of ale with one last long drink, and walks over to stand next to Barratore. "Seems like somebody needs a lesson in manners." he says simply.

"Gimme a heartbeat to do the usual" he says quietly towards Barratore, knowing the Minotaur likes to be large and in charge. Crag then readies an action to cast enlarge person on Barratore at the first sign that the brawl has begun.

Bertold shakes his head. "Right now, I think nearly everyone is working off thier stocks from the ships, good Gerox. But I shall keep my ears about and tell you if anyone needs any extra help. And please, I'm not suggesting to brawl in the streets at every opportunity", he says hastily, "but I've seen this type of one-ups-man-ship before." The Fixer sighs again.

Scully is suprised at Harvest's vehemence and then bursts out laughing at her rejoiners. He stands up and looks around, talking in that loud voice that is easily heard around the block. "You gonna put something on this besides your ugly little mouth, chippie?" He turns and lets his friends share in on the joke, "she's the toughest man they got!" And as if Scully isn't bad enough, pushing to the front of the crowd is a thin woman in a lime green coat with a bored faced assistant with a large pouch. Harvest Moon's laugh again rings out. "You have muddied them, Peza!" she cries. Then her face turns very grim and serious. It is always the case the one must prove one's strength when others are watching.

"You wish me to speak with more than words, Dishwasher." The small half-elfish girl bares her teeth and draws into a more compact defensive ball before reminding herself that this situation calls for boldness. She calls to the skies, the seas and the lands to lend their power. Then she presents her challenge.

"I then challenge you, Dishwasher." Harvest Moon straightens and approaches. Though she comes no higher than the human's chest, she shows no fear. "We will strike each other, Dishwasher. You will remove your armor. We will not seek to avoid the blows of each other. We will strike each other blow for blow. I will let you strike me first. I challenge you. Lemick frowns hoping this is just months of ship tension being released and no hardship feelings being formed. Knowing he can't enter the fray of hand to hand combat, Lemick moves over and grabs a rolled tarp lying against some empty crates; the poles rolled tightly inside. Slower, he moves towards the center, looking for a bug to cover.

OOC: Lemick intends on rolling the tarp over someone that falls down or is knocked down (some sort of grapple check I'd imagine?). Course if someone approaches, he is willing to swing it as an oversized log. (improvised battering tarp weapon: hit AC 6)

Ooc: Still using rounds and the limited number of actions, moves, and immediates available. Your description can be as flamboyant as you want! :-)

Ooc: The WLA heroes have NOT fought Scully or any of his team before. The group at the tavern was a different group.

....................
Peza bends down with a smile and gets a solid, squishy mud ball together then swings it at the gaudily dressed dressed fires it at the one dressed in brillant red and gold. The sudden attack catches Matte' looking in the other direction and brown mud splatters across a gold tasseled shoulder!

Immediately ready, Brom takes a swing at Scully who, prepared for the action, lets Brom's fist glance off his armored breastplate. For a big, armored man, he sure is fast!

Immediately ready, Crag touches Barratore and the large minotaur grows to huge proportions, taking up more than half of the street!

Barratore snorts, his eyes narrow, but only waits for the first move from Scully and friends, his hooves sliding slightly apart to just past shoulder width and the keg firmly held now like a ball at his chest

Harvest laughs, but quickly turns serious, knowing the group must prove their strength with an audience. The small half-elfish girl sets a challenge into the teeth of Scully, readying herself with some magic, and preparing to totally humiliate the rival gang's leader. "Will you accept my challenge? Or do you fear me?"

Crag implores the gods to Bless his friends, providing a divine surge of courage to all his friends.

Gerox snaps his fingers and scoops up a ball of mud, turning it pink! and heaves it at the cleric of Domi, yet the bear of a man is nimble, and the pink mud only platters the tent wall, slowly oozing down to the muddy street.

Bralin loudly cracks several joints and sounding like the clashing of stone as he begins speaking in a grating sound and deliberately moves towards Barratore. Perception DC 10: Highlight to display spoiler: {It is the same type of sound that was coming from the obsidian stone as Bralin first arrived on deck. }

Brom's viens pulse and a rictus grin of pleasure forms on his face. Vaulting from Barratore's thigh, the barbarian launches himself off Scully's face and end in a punishing kick to Lupo with a wild shout: "Boot to the head!"

Lemick frowns but moves over and grabs a rolled tarp with poles rolled inside that was lying against some empty crates. Carefully, he moves towards the center, looking for a bug to cover.
....................

Matte' looks at his mud-splattered shoulder and howls. "Now look what you've done! My beautiful tunic is ruined! You will pay for that, Missy!" The garishly dressed man somersaults over Vikki, the flabbergasted reporter, hand springs up to Peza and then begins to slap at the woman with the crossbow with strong strikes with the blade of his hand, mud splattering everywhere. (Acrobatics: 22, Attack: nat 1)

The other gnome looks up with purple sparkles in his eyes. "Pink? Tinsy think you would like Blue!" Laughing, he scoops up his own ball of mud, Prestidigitation it a sky blue, and hurls it at Gerox, striking him on the leg with a blue muddy smear! "Ah, Tinsy has first hit!"

The bard strikes a dramatic pose, half-turned towards the reporter. "And now, see how the magic of music soothes the savage beast! The half-elf begins strumming his gittern, sparkles drifting about his head, but forgets all about Barratorre's increased reach! The minotaur reaches out and makes the bard see stars!

Scully doesn't answer Harvest, doesn't even acknowledge she has given a challenge. His whole body language blatantly announces that the little girl is not even worth considering! Instead, the armored warrior launches himself at Barratore. This gives Harvest an opportunity to strike Scully while moving past her, denting a vambrace with fists like wood. The minotaur chest-passes the Enlarged barrel at Scully (the barrel magically returning to normal size as soon as it is out of Barratore's hands), and it smashes the camp chair that Scully was in but a moment before. A roundhouse catches the fighter a brief blow, and then Scully strikes the meaty portion of Barratore's thigh with a fist! ( Harvest AOO [used your attack], Barratore's AOO, AC 22 D: 7 Barratore takes 7 non-lethal damage)

The cloaked man moves smoothly, looking daggers at Barratore, but is blocked from getting to the minotaur by the press of bodies. Instead, he runs at Harvest, intending to push her into the mud, but Harvest is surprisingly sturdy, and does not move. (Failed Bull Rush, no AOO as already used)

The Cleric of Domi also steps up to Harvest. "Little one, you are in the middle of some street brawling. I'm sure you don't want to be there. Let me help you out a bit." Reaching in, a ham-sized fist and grabs Harvest, bringing the girl into a wrestling match with the hairy, armored, and smiling cleric! (Grapple: 23 initiated!)

Lupo howls in delight, ducking and grabbing a folding chair to smack Brom upside the head. A feral grin is plastered on his face as he strives with the raw power of another barbarian! (AC 21 D: 14 non-lethal to Brom)

The tipsy man slips into Scully's Heroes tent and out a side flap near Brom. In his hand he has what looks like a fishing net. "There's a million fish in the sea, so don't drop your pants!" he cackles, and heaves the net at Brom, who just avoids its entangling folds!

Vikki Sweerit and her assistant holding the glowing stone seem completely oblivious that they are in the middle of a brawl in the street! "Did you get that?" "Wow! This is some action, folks!" "The battle begins, a giant minotaur holding the street like a crag in a storm-tossed sea!"

Cheers and bets can be heard from all sides of the growing crowd of spectators.

The street is suddenly a chaos, and before she knows of it her arm is in the grip of a large unknown person. His words are kindly, but he is keeping her from her friends.

Harvest Moon growls, and makes to slip from his grasp. It is then that she notices that his technique is superior to her own. She is caught fast. All that she can do is to hold on with a dogged grip, lest he get a pinning hold. With bright and feral eyes, Harvest Moon now devotes her full attention to this large, seemingly kindly man.

Harvest is grabbed by a smiling, friendly bear of a man, but she knows her place and tries a counter move that is blocked! With bright and feral eyes, Harvest Moon now devotes her full attention to this large, seemingly kindly man.

Bralin roars in fury at being overlooked and throws a vicious elbow that clangs heavily on Scully's armor.

Gerox appears horrified at his stained clothing. Jumping into the street just past Vikki's assistant, he casts Color Spray at the offending gnome, bathing him in a brilliant array of colors. But Tinsy's mind seems stronger than the spell and there is no lasting effect.

Peza is impressed at the acrobatics of Matte', but taunts him anyway, noting that girls fight better than the muddy dandy. And then she proves it by landing a strong kick!

Crag compares the melee to a family reunion he remembers, (ooc: LOL!), and plants his shoulder into Scully's mid section, but only bounces off the well-armored man. Not to end it there, the dwarf fights with words as well.

Brom is in his element, grabbing Lupo by his shoulders and puts his forehead square into Lupo's nose. Blood sprays and the sound of crunching bone and cartilage can be heard by those standing nearby. Lupo eyes cross and then topples backwards into the mud! He then looks at the drunk with the net...

Barratore, any number of opponents to choose from, picks one that just rubs him the wrong way and drops a two handed tomahawk chop to the man of Domi's head.

"Tinsy bets one gold piece that Tinsy can mark more of Blue's team than Blue can mark Tinsy's!" Tinsy doesn't seem to care that Gerox hasn't accepted the wager, but immediately picks up another mud ball, turns it Blue, and flings it at Bralin, smearing the Oracle's knee. "Tinsy has 2 Points!" he laughs child-like. (Touch AC 11)

The bard steps out of Barratore's reach and begins playing, a jaunty war song that infects his team with the ability to attack harder and more accurately.
[c]Scully's Heroes off to war

Scully, surrounded by four WLA heroes, grins and calls out full of confidence. "Ah, I've found a wise one in the dwarf! Just some enthusiastic hellos before you wake up with water on your face!" He again drives his fist into Barratore; that's going to be some bruise! (AC 25, D: Barratore takes 6 non-lethal damage

The Cleric of Domi tightens his grip on Harvest. He keeps up his pleasant banter, but begins moving a hairy forearm against her throat. "Go to sleep, Little One. Vikki Sweerit keeps a running monologue and stays in the middle of the fray with her assistant. "OH! And first blood to the Woldian League as a terrific head-butt puts out the lights of Scully's barbarian!"

The bets from the spectators seem to be about even right now, though more and more are betting for the Woldian League. As one spectator loudly states; "Magic and a monstrous minotaur, of course the WLA will win. The other guys are the underdogs!"

Peza laughs at the acrobat, so far satisfied of how her part in the fight is going, even though she misses her next punch.

Lemick moves towards the singing bard, but has to dodge around a giggling gnome to get there. This gives Tinsy an opportunity, but all he does is throw a Blue mudball at Lemick, missing and striking a bystander by the tents. "Doesn't count! Doesn't count!" the gnome calls loudly. Unimpeded, Lemick swings the rolled-up tarp in his hands, completely covering his target which makes the bard let out a squawk and stop singing! Poles clatter against each other as they fall to the ground save for one that the cleric grabs like a two-handed sword!

Bralin flinches his head back and then returns the compliment: he and the cloaked man fanning the air and blocking all punches to be ineffective.

Barratore drops like a stone as expected when the sleep spell strikes.

Harvest Moon sees she can't fight the beefy arm so only concetrates on a single finger. Going limp, he takes hold of his thumb with both hands and twists, prying herself free! Violently shaking her friend breaks the spell, enabling Barratore's eyes to open once more.

Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP18/18; CMD 18) - Al

The chaos that has erupted is astounding.

"You!" shouts Harvest Moon at the gnome of the Leaper. "I will catch you the same way."

She steps away from the one named Liscomb, shielding herself behind the prone bulk of Barratore Steelwind. The sky, the earth and the sea has whispered to her that she might do this thing as well. She calls to them, moving her hands in the way that she knows is true. A second sea, then, of writhing plants rises up, this one engulfing the lot of the Leaper men.

It is an amazing thing to see. The roots and grasses writhe and clutch like a living thing. And to think, that it is she who called them to do her bidding. Harvest Moon takes a moment to admire the miracle granted to her by the Wold. It is very satisfactory.

Edit Post

Lemick exults as he covers his opponent and looks up just as Gerox' Color Spray blasts him unconscious for half a minute. (ooc: 3 rounds)

Barratore wakes bloodied, bruised, tired, embarrassed, mad, entangled, and humiliated. Not the best first week. Grinding his teeth, the minotaur tears free of the entangle and sweeps Scully into the spell effect himself!

Peza is wrapped well, but she finds that it only hampers movement and doesn't stop it altogether. Looking to disrupt any spellcasting by the Scully Gang, the girl puts together a mud ball, ready to fling it at the first person who casts a spell.

Bralin and the cloaked man uselessly flail at each other. Many fists are flying, but so far nothing has landed.

Brom sleeps soundly.

Crag rips himself out of the entangle spell and converts a memorized spell into healing for Barratore before taking a step towards Sully and out of the entangled area.

Gerox sees his new opponent coming and freezes for a second. It is a mistake, for the gnome is grabbed by the muddy Matte'. Gerox has to concentrate hard, but succeeds in casting a Prestidigitation to ignite the edge of Matte's cloak! Gerox whispers to the acrobat. "Do you smell smoke?"

(Ooc: AOOs only if you have melee weapon in hand, natural weapon, or improved unarmed feat. No AOO on Matte'. There was no spell choice, so DM chose, rolled concentration (success) and cast Prestidigitation.)

Harvest sees the chaos that has erupted and is astounded. And, thinking on it, realizes the same power is her's to command. A second sea, then, of writhing plants rises up, this one engulfing the lot of the Leaper men and more of the bystanders! , as well

(ooc: it is amazing that a low level spell has a 40' Radius area of effect, isn't it? Scully was swept backwards by Barratore, so Mac, Hooch, Tinsy, Liscomb, and the unconscious Lemick are affected.)

With two down on each side and the entire street (and quite a bit of the neighborhood) entangled in writhing grasses, roots, and the occasional bush, the slugfest has taken on epic proportions. Vikki continues her play-by-play comments as her assistant carefully records the event via his magic stone.

Scully is grinning, and looks like he notices Harvest for the first time this fight. "Pretty trick there, missy, but it won't save you or yours!" The other of Scully's Heroes looks like they are ready to continue the fight as well, but they don't get the chance.

With *pops* of displaced air, a dozen beings appear 30 feet above the street, and they are ready for a fight. Four with swords, two with bows form a wide circle around Bard Pursis, four spellcasters, and Anvil Stormrager himself. "HALT!", and the command feels like it has magic behind it. All heroes Will DC 20 or unable to move for one round. Ready to fight anything that is attacking the new settlement, it takes the Fixer Response Team a couple of seconds to take in what is happening and then the swordsmen and bowmen half-relax from their fighting stance. Stormrager, however, does NOT look happy, and the spellcasters all look like they still have spells at the ready.

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?", comes the furious demand by the Chief Fixer.

An angry retort rises to Harvest Moons lips, to be spat in the direction of the leader of the Leaper men. And then most powerful magic descends as though from the skies. Angry voices fill the air. One voice calls halt with a magic that Harvest Moon is unable to resist.

"It ... it is a melee," Harvest Moon explains in a sheepish voice. It is a fact beside which excuses become irrelevant. Fault is irrelevant. The encouragement of those within the League camp and that from the odd person narrating the event followed by a man with a stone, all irrelevant. There can be but one response.

"I am sorry," comes the apology from Harvest Moon, her voice filled with remorse. Though she cannot move, her thoughts turn to the writhing grasses, recently of her own creation. She wills them away.

Barratore is miffed and looks for an opportunity to renew the fight.

Crag tries to calm the minotaur down while comparing to other family reunions he has known.

Peza itries to pass it off as a friendly stress-relief, but privately wonders what Captain Theringer is going to say when he learns of the to-do.

Gerox gets himself disentangled and blusters about the friendliness of the brawl.

Lemick and Brom continue to snore.

..................

Scully's Heroes were all likewise frozen to immobility by Stormrager's magical Command. Once they shake it off, the group all seem to have different reactions as well.

Tinsy rolls on the muddy ground laughing. "What fun!", he exclaims exuberantly, and then teases Gerox, "I win, I win. It is 2 Blue to 1 Pink!" Tinsy dismisses his Entangle.

Matte' lets Gerox go and puts out his cape. If looks could kill, Gerox and Peza would both be undead...

The cloaked man stops fighting but doesn't say much either.

Tarnwit and Lupo are both as out as Brom and Lemick, and the net-wielding guy only blinks owlishly.

Lipscomb actually looks a little sheepish. "Not intending to disturb your eminences, none of us were, I'm sure", he says to the hovering group. "As the lady says, just a little too much cabin fever."

Scully, scuffed, bruised, but still on his feet, looks up with a blank face. The hovering attack team doesn't move for one heartbeat. For two. And then Pursis guffaws. The master bard begins to hold his knees and laughs as tears stream down his cheeks. "Anvil...(gasp)... you were convinced it was an... (haha)... an attack. That all the divinations pointed to something str- (wheeze) strange. And is a bunch of youngsters having fun!"

At the bard's comments, the attack party put away weapons and spells, but Anvil is still brooding. "These are not guttersnipes tossing stones, but spells! The cries were heard all the way to the harbor!"

"Oh relax old chum!", responds Pursis with a grin, "even you can remember what it was like to be young. And, me being the expert on sound, a low voice carries a long way in complete silence. I think we can safely say any further excitement in this quarter will either be taken care of or be because of these two well-meaning groups!"

Anvil, the storm still raging in his eyes, casts a small spell (Spellcraft DC11 Highlight to display spoiler: {Detect Evil} before giving a harrumph. "Fine!" And then he gives a small, very small smile. "I remember being young. And since this was friendly, I am sure both the Woldian League and the Scully's Heroes will open thier larders for a neighborhood luncheon for all in this area." (It doesn't take much for even Tinsy to get the hint.)

With that, the Fixer force takes a more liesurely flight back to the island in the middle of the harbor, already being known as Fixers Island.

Scully waits until they are out of earshot and then carefully extends a hand to Barratore. "Mister Minotaur, I believe I will have that drink now. And we have a small oven in the back that has been busy making new bread. Let's invite our neighbors for a lunch in the street?"

Harvest Moon still wears a frown. None of the jocularity, none of the acceptance by the Fixer leaders, none of the excuses remove the sting of shame. They had failed in their discipline. And ... it was the doing of the Leaper men.

It is gratifying, in a small way, see that the one named Scully is concerned about the repercussions of this incident. But that does nothing to excuse them their provocation. Neither does it excuse her own actions.

"Brom. Brom?" Harvest Moon shakes at the shoulder of her fellow League Adventurer, wrapped and asleep within the net. "Brom? Wake now. We are to host a feast for the neighbors along with the Leaper men," she adds.

Grudgingly, she then sets about the preparation for the feast hosting, only pausing momentarily to ponder out loud. "I wonder what the Fixer leaders thought might be waiting them here, that they would come prepared with such great force?" says Harvest Moon. Then she turns an eye to the distant mountains.

He examines Scully as well but the man seems closed off to him. There was a glimpse of something but it is gone before Gerox can determine what it was. Scully would have to be watched. (sense motive 19)

Gerox moves over to the ale and draws a small mug. He takes a sip and winces at the taste. "How do you people drink this stuff? Now mead is a drink from the Gods. Made from honey and with a kick you can remember."

Gerox will move over to Scully and ask, "So are we going to be friendly rivals now or is this a show? I think their will be enough work for both of us and something is bothering me on those Fixers reaction. It almost seems like they are expecting trouble. I suspect this settlement will need all of its fighting troops to survive. Do you think we can peacefully coexist?" Gerox holds out his small hand hoping the leader of Scully's crew will accept it.

Co-DM SteveK - Meet the Neighbors

350 xp for Everyone! I had real fun with Lemick's use of the tarp, Gerox' Blue Mud, and Brom performing acrobatics off of several folks. Great fight! :-)

......................

With the pronouncement of the Chief Fixer, the neighborhood is relieved and excited about a lunch al fresco, and one that is put on by someone else! Trestle tables are quickly set up down the center of the street (by mutual consent) so as not to have any start of Left Streeters and Right Streeters pop up. Bread, rehydrated fruits and vegetables, some fresh meat and fish all appear. Oh and drink. Not a lot, not enough for anyone to get beligerant, but enough volume and variety to satisfy.

There are about 200 inhabitants of this neighborhood that show up, which is about 10% of the whole population of RUM (right now).

Harvest isn't happy, and her internal thoughts run around the twin rocks of discipline and provocation. Then there is what Bard Pursis did NOT say... what is this expectation the Fixers are ready for? Still, mundane matters keep her busy with waking Brom up and helping with the feast.

Bralin is a bit slower than everyone else to catch on to the sudden peace breaking out, and doesn't seem to like the idea. As the trestle tables come out of tents, he retreats to a corner in the back of the WLA compound, pulls out his obsidian orb, and broods.

Brom startles awake and gets himself up and untangled. Friendly, the barbarian claps Scully on the shoulder and offers a drink to the net-wielding man now known as Sieur Hooch. Scully retrieves the keg thrown by Barratore, breeches it, and starts handing out mugs of ale. "Sieur Hooch", says the thin man and gladly grabs the mug offered by Brom. "They talk to me, you know. Gets too noisy and gotta keep em away."

Lemick awakens and, together with the covered and tarped bard, they get up. "I don't need help", the bard says haugtily. "Go and help your lesser people". Nose high and spirit undaunted, Tarnwit turns to change his clothes, coming back out and ready to play for the feast.

Barratore looks Scully in the eye, rubs his thigh and stands before taking Scully's hand. The grip between the two is more a test of strength than a handshake. "Good fight. first round is one you...Since you lost." Scully grins and retorts, "says the man who was laying in the street. Pretty smart with the Enlarge spell by your cleric. Makes you a living mountain when not in cramped spaces." Sense Motive DC 10 Highlight to display spoiler: { Scully clearly feels that he and Barratore are NOT bosom buddies, more like two alpha wolves in the same territory.}

Gerox is interested in all this about a divinitation pointing out something being strange. Oh, and that Scully definitely needs to be watched. Gerox wanders over to Scully to find out if they are going to be friendly rivals or something else. Scully at first looks like he wants to dismiss the little man, but the warrior's eyes get thoughtful the more Gerox speaks. "Yeah, the Fixers were expecting trouble..." He shakes his head and the arrogance is back in his face and voice. "Coexist I know my crew will be able to do, but peaceful is going to depend on how much you stay out of our way. But, yeah, it may be better to keep eyes up for a while." Against all expectations, and a couple of startled glances from Tarnwit, Matte', and Lipscomb, Scully reaches down and shakes Gerox' hand.

Peza is relieved that Bard Pursis so easily defused the tension, and (while noting Scully's reaction to the Fixers), makes nice with most of the Scully crew. Matte' refuses, Tarnwit turns up his nose, and Lupo (frankly) doesn't seem to understand the cultural significance of a handshake. But everyone else more or less is willing to let the test of strength in the mud stand as a fun brawl.

Crag grumbles grouchily, but goes about the work with everyone else. "Cleaning up after the get togethers was always the worst part." The Dwarf mumbles to himself, reminiscing about relatives half a continent away.

.............

WLA, Scully's, and the neighbors mingle for an hour until, in ones and small groups, the neighbors return to their preparations.

Bertold is still here with his Fixer Team, and they move around making sure that adequate sanitation is laid on for the nieghborhood.

Vikki Swearit seems to be disgruntled by the sudden and unsatisfying end. She and her assistant soon make thier excuses and move off to wherever they came from.

"Scully of the Leaper men is still wary of you, Barratore Steelwind." So says Harvest Moon at the first occasion in which the minotaur is out of the earshot of any of the group from across the road. "I have seen many of his kind in the place from which I came. They are always wishing to take the things of others. To such people, greater strength is the right by which they might possess the things that you have."

Harvest Moon decides that she will not have any of the bread made by the Leaper men, despite the tantalizing odor. In fact, she pursues a competitive, though complementary strategy. Applying the knowledge that she has gained from foraging many herbs and plants, Harvest Moon sets to task of spicing and preparing the meat in such a manner as to produce not only the most delicious taste, but also the most delicious smell.

Tomatoes, onions, fragrant cloves of garlic, various fruits as well, when mashed form the base into which are mixed other tasteful and quite spicy plants. Once this paste is spread upon the cooking meat, the odor becomes more delicious.

"Please have some of our meat," Harvest Moon offers the many neighbors from about the area. "We are the Woldian League of Adventurers, and we are here to serve the people."

Co-DM SteveK - Meet the Neighbors
Thursday February 23rd, 2012 2:50:58 PM

Harvest works on some spices for the meat and tries to compete with Scully's Heroes in the hearts and minds of the neighbors. The results are somewhat ambiguous because of the generally holiday aptmosphere of the lunch makes the neighbors disinclined to look for or appreciate any one-ups-manship on the part of either the WLA or Scully's Heroes.

Peza moves out of the way to Bralin and gets to know the newest member of the team better.

Gerox wonders about exploring the island (its a BIG island) and the possibility of hooved critters for the table. Otherwise they may get mighty tired of fish. After all, that's about all they ate for 4 months on the voyage...

After the lunch and the cleanup, the WLA heroes seem to drift back to their tents for a little note comparisons. Especially from Barratore (who got a LOT of information in talking to the haughty bard), Crag, and Lemick, the WLA gets a fair description of Scully's Heroes.

....................

Scully. the human Fighter and leader of the group. Equipped with chainmail, large steel shield, longsword. He seems arrogant and very sure of himself. Loves to intimidate, but will respect those that stand up to him as someone to reckon with.

Tarnwit, the half-elf Bard, who is hanging his future reputation on Scully's exploits. Equipped with chainmail, rapier, and hornpipe, he sings "sea shanties" for his spells. He is radiantly confident and superior to anyone besides Scully.

The cloaked man with a boyish face is Mac Allen, a quiet human Ranger. Equipped with chainmail, kukri, shortbow. He is quiet and even Scully's crew doesn't know much about him.

Lupo Caine, the human Barbarian. Wearing hide armor and carrying a battleaxe, Tarnwit hinted that Lupo owes Scully a life, but didn't go into the details.

Sieur Hooch, human witch from the far-away Southern Continent. Equipped with a net and bola, Hooch claims that voices speak to him and he can only keep them away by drinking. He has an outlandish claim that the Southern Continent had a Great Migration where the lands actually rip out of the earth and rearrange themselves like puzzle pieces. He was caught in a rip and landed on Scully's front door in Cinamon Valley. Taking it as a sign, he follows Scully around.

Tinsy Fillitagin, the gnome sorcerer owns a dagger, but of course is a spellcaster and a complete happy-go-lucky spirit.

Matte' Tor, the well-dressed rogue, owns leather armor and probably several daggers (at least 3). Matte is a swashbuckling acrobat who seems to like everyone knowing just how good he is.

Libscomb, the human cleric of Domi. He normally wields a breastplate, large steel shield, and mace. Looking like a bear to Scully's bull, he loves to wrestle and seems to enjoy life and challenges.

It is very interesting to hear about the Leaper men. In the Contested Kingdoms she had never spoken much with the many aggressive men (or women) who had tried to make inroads into the small sheltering area that she and her mother had called home. Most speech, if it could be called that, had been shouting and growling to present a fierce demeanor to discourage them from attack.

Though she had sometimes crept to quite places where she might watch them and guess at their intentions, she had never imagined speaking to them to discover their strengths and weaknesses. But ... now that the idea is implanted into her mind ...

In the wake of the festivities, Harvest Moon crosses the street careful not to be seen by any of the other Leaper men. It is not that she so much wishes to hide from them, than she would rather that they -especially the more disagreeable ones among them- would simply not look upon her. She seeks out the one named Libscomb.

"I am Harvest Moon," she says, upon finding the big man. "Your fighting is impressive. Will you teach me your style?" she asks. Very short and very to the point. It is her way with many things.

Bralin looks up with a start as Peza approaches. He accepts the plate from her with a automatic, "Many thanks."

The dwarf silently takes one or two bites.
"Harvest Moon," he murmurs quietly. "By the Stone...."

The dwarf's face turns toward Peza. "How many fights have you?" he asks - apparently rhetorically as he ploughs on. "I've hundreds. Hundreds. Not two months ago I would have easily bested them all. Now..."

Bralin looks back to the stone in his hand.
"Now, I cannot land even a single blow on a man in mere chain. A most difficult medication for my soul, I think."

He rises. "And, there is one other matter. Come with me. This is of import."
Seeing the group has met back up to compare notes, Braiin moves up to Barratore.

"I am an Oracle," he tells the taur. "And as such, I was told there would be many challenges I must overcome. Several revealed themselves this day. One centers on communication."
He looks about.
"I could not understand any words spoken from the time I began to cross the street until after the authorities intervened. All your words, and theirs, seemed like so much gibberish."

"Gerox's thoughts are likely right on, the only other one I would put forth would be less likely, but anything is possible. I wonder if perhaps your insides are switching with someone or something else's in battle." "Maybe your...soul shall we say, swaps with another when you revert to Terran speaking."

"Either way Bralin, we need to find out exactly what the problem is so that we may best decide how to correct it, or if we can't, the rest of us may need to learn to speak Terran so we can communicate with each other in battle."

Bralin's issue is well beyond his thinking, luckily Gerox is about. "I know Terran generally when i see it or hear it, but I do not know the language. You say you have been in hudreds of battles, I wonder than if you were sent by the gods to be here now, they block your access to those experiences and it takes on the appearence to you of not knowing the lanuage about you. Like Crag said, I wonder if we learned Terran, if it would still be a problem?"

"Either way can we do anything immediately about it?"

Co-DM SteveK - Another Arrival
Friday February 24th, 2012 1:41:09 PM

The group talks about the fight and the Leaper men (and they are all men), but the discussion rapidly goes into Bralin's history and battle problem. Not many people know about Oracles, in fact it is obvious that Bralin is the first one that anyone in the WLA compound has ever met. Definitely something that needs to be looked into a little more.

Harvest has her own ideas, and resolves to test one of them immediately. Yet as she stands up and opens the tent flap, the half-elf sees there is someone blocking her way. It is a tall elf in a white tunic and silver symbol of Alemi prominent on a chain around his neck. He also has a Blue WLA badge with a single tine.

"The Blessings of Alemi be on you", he says, "or maybe it is better for the hand of Domi?" He smiles at his own joke, but soon turns serious. "I am Torian Silverleaf, a Fixer of Alemi and a member of the Woldian League of Adventurers both. I have been selected by the Fixers to work with the WLA for needs of mutual assistance."

He takes a breath and then continues. "Assistance which we are in the need of asking for right now. Our strongest diviners are being continually plagued with nightmares about the local area containing some horrible danger and evil. Some call out that the ground is swallowing up the city of Rum, some talk of eyes in the dark, and one has not been out of trance since she first stepped on the land. Here, I have something to help you understand." The elf brings out a strange silver tool that looks like a set of pliers. "Touch the monkey wrench and you can see what she sees..."

Every hero that touches the silver tool Highlight to display spoiler: { sees dark billowing clouds that resolve to a waif of a girl standing in a room. Bralin shakes his head in response to Crag. "I remain myself," he states. "Know that some years ago I was saved by the powers of the Stones themselves, and vowed to serve. Over time I retreated from that vow, preferring to focus my energies on the way of the axe."

"Recently, I have been called to account for my actions. And have been transformed from a formidable warrior to what the Chamber called Stonesinger, an Oracle. I am still learning what that transformation entails."

"I remember everything that occurred in this battle, and in my previous...incarnation. The skills of that time are gone."

---

Torian enters and makes his plea. Bralin steps forward and touches the monkey wrench.

"Diggers." he states immediately. "Some creature or creatures burrow through the earth, leaving tunnels behind and causing cave-ins at the surface."

Crag Hammerfist AC: 18(16 w/o shield), HP: 22/22, CMD: 14

Crag listens to Bralin's account. "Well, at least you are you. That eliminates the unlikely scenario. Sounds like you have a debt to be paid, and until it is, this is something you have to live with. You owe the Stones, and the stones want what they are owed. As we Dwarves know better than most, not something to be taken lightly."

"Looks like until we can come up with something better, or until you can teach us all Terran, we will have to deal with combat, as you not knowing what is being said. It will be harder, and fall upon you to be aware of what cues you may be given."

Crag looks to the rest of the group. "I think one very helpful thing to establish is a standard battle plan with general responsibilities for each person. When Dwarves go to war, they work as a team. Those that do not, often do not survive. We need to establish a plan to work as a team ahead of time, so even when Bralin cannot understand what is being said, he knows what he should likely be doing."

When the Elf enters, and tells his tale, Crag touches the wrench. "Aye. Bralin has the right of it. Diggers. Likely their tunnels are already all under Rum and perhaps the whole island. We need to look into this, and if we can, convince them to dig elsewhere. If not...."

"Protection of Domi," Harvest Moon replies reflexively, and raises a hand to cross wrists with the tall elf before realizing that he is not actually of Domi. Her mind is upon the revelation of Bralin the Stonesinger.

She backs away as the elf enters and begins his plea.

"I think that I have heard of these things that are happening to you, Brailin the Stonesinger," whispers Harvest Moon at the dwarf's side. "I have heard of those who are touched with sight of the future. It is a blessing. But in return for the blessing, these people also must bear a curse. I think that you are touched in such a way, Brailin Stonemin ... Bralin the Stonesinger."

Apparently, the elf, Torian Silverleaf brings related news. Related, in as far as he also speaks of those gifted with sight of things to come. Harvest Moon approaches with curiosity as Torian Silverleaf holds for the Wrench of the Monkey. She reaches out her small hand and touches.

After blinking away the vision, she leans to one side, tipping her head so that she might see around Torian Silverleaf and out the flap of the tent to the nearby corner. "Holes?" she asks of no one in particular.

"Ugh!!!" Brom says after seeing the vision. "I'm too big for holes under ground. Holes and underground for short people. Not tall people." That's about all he says on the matter. He'll have to go anyway and it's best, he's learned, to let smarter and wiser people make plans.

Crag mentions battle plans and Brom's ears perk right up. "Battle plan's this, I use this," he says drawing his BAS (big #$% sword), "and kill'em all. Healerz keep me and the other BAS swingers standing and swinging."

Torian Silverleaf responds to some of the speculations. "The girl is Wynn, a Fixer. Her location is in the tower we are even now building on Fixer Island. Anvil Stormrager has been concerned because Wynn is our strongest Diviner, yet since she cast a spell yesterday to learn more about some rumors we have been hearing", and here the elf gestures to the wrench, "THIS is all we have been able to get from her."

The elf shakes his head. "When Stormrager came back to Fixer Island, he selected me to immediately come here. Another of my brothers is even now speaking with Scully's Heroes to see if they know any more than you."

Soon, Torian finds out that Scully doesn't know anymore than the WLA, and so he goes to report back to Fixer Island (taking the wrench with him). "We do not know what may happen or how accurate Wynn's vision is. All I can say is: be careful."

Bralin nods in echo of Brom's suggestion.

"If burrowing creatures are in the area, they surely have left sign of themselves somewhere. Let us search, and seek them out."

" what rumours ?? .. any and all infomation would be helpful .... even if you cant confirm all of it at least we'll be aware of it and able to look out for it "

" also i asked this earlier but what have or did the early explorers find ?? something had to be here before ?"

"hmm holes ...well something dug them ... or formed them .... volcano ?? underground rivers ??"

Gerox Shale Hps 16/16
Tuesday February 28th, 2012 8:35:49 AM

Gerox didn't touch the fork, so he didn't see the vision. He asks, "In this vision of our street collapsing, how did it look. Did the street look as it does now, with tents and no solid structures, or were their buildings? I am trying to get some kind of time line here. Is the danger now or farther off into the future?"

Gerox ponders a bit and then says, "I still think we need to do some exploring of this area and the areas surrounding Rum. I suggest we get a good night's rest and start doing that in the morning. (ooc I think it is night correct?) We can look for this threat but also get a lay of the land, see the local creatures and plants. This can only help us in the future."

Gerox falls silent once again obviously still thinking, "It could be that some local creature or creatures might not be happy that Rum suddenly sprung up here. This could be some kind of ancient holy burial ground for mole people."

Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP18/18; CMD 18) - Al  d20+11=20 ;
Tuesday February 28th, 2012 8:44:32 AM

There is great unease in this. Great unease. Harvest Moon's half-elven eyes dart this way and that, as though dangerous creatures might be very nearby. Leaving the other League Adventurers behind in a cloud of chattering voices she slips through the tent flap and out onto the League Adventurers' lot.

It was one of these corners. She had seen it when touching the Wrench of the Monkey. She maneuvers about the lot, matching the views to the one she had seen in the Monkey Wrench vision. It is such a plain and unassuming spot once found. It is difficult to believe that it holds such danger as to draw the alarm of the powerful Fixers. Harvest Moon gets down upon her hands and knees at the spot she had seen in the Monkey Wrench vision. She turns her head to the side and places an ear upon the ground. At first, there is little to hear. The ground is the ground, after all. But there is time, and Harvest Moon is patient. She closes her eyes, listens with her hear, listens too with the feeling in the palms of her hands. If there is to be a hole here upon this corner, perhaps this hole will reveal itself to her.

Lemick 4-Leaf Sted/Anthony hp 16/16, ac 20/12/18
Tuesday February 28th, 2012 10:55:51 AM

Lemick offers what he can in terms of details and projected timeline from the vision he saw to those that did not. (OOC: Don't really know myself, aside from the building the girl was in.)

He watches Harvest moon listen to the ground intrigued by her idea, but unconvinced knowledge being gained. "I suppose, while we are searching the land, someone else could begin digging here. Perhaps with the idea of a well. Should they find a tunnel, then when we return, we can explore it."

As he hears the answer to what the previous explorers had found, Lemick inquires about a map of the land (or the best map that is available).

The Gnome is a clever and thoughtful one to be sure. Barratore thought similar to Brom. Find it, destroy it, Celebrate the glory that is victory. Barratore heads to a cask and taps it, filling his tankard. "Brom. We drink and prepare while they talk and prepare." With that he twirls a wooden tankard at the man to catch.

"Never been underground. Sounds dark and crowded." He says to Brom when the man comes over. "You?"

Barratore rolls with the assumption little will be done tonight except for talking and more talking and perhaps a bit more talking. His plans involve drinking, a bit more drinking and then some sleep

Co-DM SteveK - The Rest of the Day
Tuesday February 28th, 2012 6:39:29 PM

Torian answers Peza's questions as best he may. "The island was chosen from a number of plausible areas because of its location and great natural harbor. The first explorers and the first survey team have found areas of ancient ruins, speculated to be before the Great Cataclysm. There is some wild animals in the mountains and upper reaches of forest, but nothing that was determined to cause a problem for a settlement of a thousand or a city of tens of thousands."

"But it has happened that any Divination spell since we have landed last week has gone awry. The small ones just don't seem to work and the more powerful spells have come up against a wall of uncertainty. Wynn tried to push beyond this wall and has put herself into a comotose state."

He notes Harvest's investigation and, holding the wrench, looks at the spot the elf-girl has chosen. "Yes, I can see where this street is very, very similar to the vision. Yet that could be the same as a dozen other street corners covered by tents. But you are astute, for the hole does appear while there are still tents and not buildings, at least according to the vision. You may want to stay close to home and watch for any activity."

And then Torian has to be off, leaving the neighborhood for the day. Harvest tries but can't come up with any sense of an 'underground' nor an exact area in the streets where this hole would appear.

"Ancient ruins ?? we'll have to do some exploring ....i had great fun exploring Plateau City ... they had ruins there too ... but we must figure out what this mystery is first ... and help that girl Wynn "

Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP18/18; CMD 18) - Al

Harvest Moon tips her head to one side and eyes with curiosity the excitement with which Peza speaks of the exploration of Ancient ruins. To see such delight on her friends face brings a smile to her own lips. But how is it to feel such an excitement one's self? For her, the trek from the Contested Kingdoms to Plateau City had been no more than a trial to pass through on the way to finding the Woldian League. So too was the sea voyage from South Port to this place of Rum.

To go forth to find new things is a curious idea. For herself, there are so many curious things that exist right where one is. Home is enough for her. Protecting it is the most important thing.

Brom catches the ale. "I like the way ya think." He grabs a couple of tankards and pours one for each of them.

"Not me." He says. "Never been underground. Too tall. You got the same problem.."

Brom agrees with Gerox. "I'm thinking ruins. If they're close, sounds like a good spot ta start. Might find the thing messin' with Fixer's oracles and tunnels."

Lemick, "I'm in favor is scoping out the area. I'd propose we hire someone to dig a well, whereever the plans are to dig one anyways. Then, later, a few days from now, we climb down it if no water is found."

Lemick was eager to set to a real task -- all this sitting on the boat has left him idle and out of shape. So slow he got put down by magic, and then entangled.

With the fewest amount of details to go one, Lemick is ready to set out (assuming it's morning now?). If it's only midday (lunch), he'll scope out the highest point to get an advantage of which way the group should trek out to explore -- possibly even see the ruins.
