Tishe' is very much aware that this town setup is suspiciously like the house in the woods. The group wasn't expecting the building to be there, didn't want to be there, and even tried like anything to NOT be there. And then upon investigation, all chaos broke loose as they were ambushed by crazy monsters! And here they are again in a place that TIshe' actively tried to stay clear of, now investigating a place that looks perfectly abandoned and waiting for all chaos to break loose. "Why do I feel like I'm being herded to some pre-determined destiny", she wonders aloud as the others scout the town out. "Is this part of the magic that brought everyone to Cinnamon Valley?"

Thar continues moving South, ending just North of A10/11... he'll keep his senses sharp, watching/listening for anything dangerous, while keeping quiet and hidden near the N wall of the building...

(I'll give Perc and Stealth if you need them... vs. rolling it every round not knowing if needed or not... )

Lia merely raises an eyebrow to Revi's question. She and Rinn continue walking towards the main road of the village (around A13/14) keeping pace with the rest of the group.

She keeps a watchful eye for any lingering magical aurus, and any she can detect through the walls of nearby buildings

(Arcane Sight: Range 120ft. Can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it)

Entering the town, it remains empty, checking the small hut like homes they appear to have been cleared out of anything useful and it wasn't completely nailed down, and even then, some nailed down stuff was taken anyways.
The place looks like it was cleared out not more than 48 to 72 hours ago. Checking the remaining ferry it looks serviceable, so there was no real reason to have left it behind if the town went down stream.

"Thar, are there any tracks leading away from the village?", wonders Tishe'. "If there are not, they must have gone by barge. There are not enough broken things to have been a round-up. Everything is cleared out as if this was an evacuation." It is complete speculation on the witch's part, but Tishe' feels that she has reasoned it correctly.

Tishe' jumps on her broom and does an aerial recon of the immediate river and a circle around the outside of the village. Is there any army or large 'thing' moving this way? Is there a sunken barge that can be seen under the water?

Failing to locate any clue, Tishe' will be forced to shrug her shoulders and continue with re-crossing the river and having Thar lead them to the location of the trail at the foot of Mount Bone as depicted on the map.

While Tishe' scouts from above, Thar will look again for any recent tracks around town and it's perimeter, especially ones from the last few days. He'll also look for any signs of battles, non-village entities (i.e. things/creatures that obviously didn't come from the town...)... Finally, he'll check out the ferry and see if he can find any other evidence...

"Where the feshra is everyone?" Lia asks rather loudly, and then even more loudly "Hello? Anybody here?"

She recalls similar occurences in her past. When pirates would raid villages, the townsfolk would often flee to a safer location. Lia tries to get a view of the nearby countryside looking for a potential rally point the citizens may have used, as well as looking for any manure trails left behind by herded animals.

After a full search of the hovels, the stalls and the tavern, the village truly looks completely vacated, with no reason to be found.

Tishe` while she is flying overhead across the river, finds the missing ferry. The Ferry is at the bottom of the river and barely visible due to it's depth. More than making out the general shape of the ferry still at the dock, she can tell nothing more about.

Revi attempts to do some tracking to determine by what route everyone left, how old the tracks are, or if possibly raiders on horseback or other races like orcs, etc... have been through this area.

Having left the river and the empty village behind, you now have another problem. You have a map, but you've only deciphered a few of the words and letters. Without knowing just what is written near the bottom of the mountain, you will probably not find the marked path, although you can spend time searching the side of the absolutely ginormous mountain for an entrance. It may even be the right entrance....

Tishe' pulls out the map and her earlier annotations that she made using a simple substitution code and looks at the three arrows around the mountain.

"If we go west and follow on the South side of the river, we should come to a trail where the eastern slopes of the mountain reach the river. From there, the trail should run six miles and ends near a hidden entrance into the mountain. From there, two miles of caves to find Skalipy's hideout."

She looks up and nods. "Let's get to the south bank and travel west until we are at the foot of the mountain due south. If we've gone that far and not found the trail, then we need to think of another plan."

Taking your time, the group covers maybe 5 miles before it once again becomes time to camp for the night. Having searched carefully all along the base area of the mountain no paths have been found of any sort that lead up towards the peak where you assume that the entrance is you are looking for.

Caedmon catches Rinn drooling over him and guesses his intentions. "Lia, I get the feeling your friend there is... "chomping at the bit" to take a bite from my backside. Sort of makes me feel like a big hunk of meat."

The evening as the group settles down for the night, Tishe' brings out Wart and asks him to grow. The cauldron chortles as he grows in size, and then the witch goes to work to find out some information.

The first spell cast is a Scrying, looking for the dwarf Skalipy and, if found, what she can find out by observing him for a while. If she can't get Skalipy, she recasts the spell to Scry on Kahlan, the paladin.

The second spell later in the night is a Divination. The witch calls for an answer from the Sargrass; "What are the best actions we can take to discover the hidden entrance we seek in the mountain?"

Finally, Tishe' carefully removes the small pouch that she has collected bits of hair and nail from her packmates, and selects the packet carefully labelled: Kahlan. Rolling a single hair in her hand, she casts it into the cauldron called Wart. "Kahlan? Kahlan! Come and speak with me. This is Tishe', your packmate. I promise your soul will be safe while you visit my cauldron!"

Casting her special Witch Spell Call Spirit. Tishe' calls for Kahlan. It fizzles at first, but a recasting ensures the ley lines do not jump away. If Kahlan is willing and either sleeping or dead, her spirit can come to Tishe's cauldron and the group can ask questions on how to follow the map!

As Tishe` attempts her first spell, the Scrying, She tries to focus on Skalipy, but the spell fails. Either he's dead or something blocked the attempt.
She then communes with the grass' of the Sargrass and she receives a picture of them following a path up the mountain that leads directly to the entrance which is in the shadows of some large rocks, but then all of the rocks around there are rather large. Tishe` feels she might be able to recognize the general area, if she should see it again.
She later tries to contact Kahlan, and after a time, she receives no reply to her summons, meaning that Kahlan appears to be still alive, but not asleep or her spirit is other wise detained.

Late in the night, almost morning actually, everyone is awoken when they feel repeated quakes coming to them through the ground.

"Pay him no mind, Caedmon" Lia responds to the taur's concerns of Rinn with a smile "We have not encountered many centaurs before, and I believe Rinn thinks you might taste something like a succulent wildebeest" Rinn lips his lips, though does seem somewhat dejected. "Cheer up, my friend, I'm sure we will find you something meaty to eat today" the halfelf tries to improve Rinn's spirits.

The ground tremor takes Lia by surprise "I really hope that's not a purple worm"

"Uh, anyone know why is the ground shaking?" she asks the group (Perception: 41)

Thar is rudely awakened from pleasant dreams about his beloved girl back home, by the shaking in the ground. Knowing that it doesn't usually portend anything good, he moves to a nearby tree and quickly climbs it in order to get a good vantage and cover for him to sit and snipe with his arrow... Taking out his bow and arrow, he looks for whatever's making that noise...

He calls out, "Tishe', can you fly at all and see what's coming this way? Is it friend or foe? Also, if you're in the air, you may be able to look for anything that looks familiar, and maybe give us a better idea of where we need to go to find this trail or hidden entrance."

In the dim, but brightening, early morning, five very big humanoids can be seen working their way around the base of the mountain. The boulders that you could see as house size to you, seem not so large compared to them....

Thar's not in the mood to get into a fight if he doesn't have to and says to the others, "If they're not coming for us, then let's stay out of their way... They probably live around here and could be merely hunting or scouting... Shall we move laterally out of their path and maybe they'll pass us by?"

He asks Tishe' about positions and speeds of the giants, trying to figure out how close they are...

When they're about 2 rounds away and if it appears there's no way to avoid an encounter, he'll remain in the tree and cast two spells - McVEvil 30' AND Blessing of Fervor on all those within 30' of him...

Lia mounts Rinn. Her muscles still feel weary from being out of action for so many months. Combat now - though invigorating - may not be the best idea.

Rinn lets out a deep gutteral growl and bears his teeth.

"Easy now" Lia tries to soothe Rinn with a firm pat to his neck.

Tishe' reviews her knowledge to determine what kind of giants they are and if they may be friendly or at least neutral. (Know: Local 16)

"Nobody here hates giants on general principle, do they?", she asks, "These guys may actually be able to help us find the hideout we're looking for."

Tishe' goes back to the group and describes the giants to see if her packmates can help identify the giants.

The five giants get close enough that they are semi lit by the camp fire.
The one with a giant sized battle axe, it's made of stone, but it looks like it's well made, speaks in gruff common.
"Dey small folk, dey muss no."
Then one of the ones carrying a warhammer, the head of it is actually an anvil, roars at the group, "Where you take Rolf, he taken by small folk like you. You give him back, we no kill you. Answer now or we kill you."
The other three, one is also wielding a warhammer of sorts, a large rock bound to a tree trunk. The other two are actually carrying metal weapons, both are carrying very large swords and they look quite sharp.
The five giants are spreading out and semi surrounding the camp fire and the group....
