Alphonse casts mage armor. You still have a move action left. You are at 100 ft if you do not choose to use your move action.
Spire moves 10 ft forward. He draws an arrow and shoots. It glances off a crab carapace. (Sorry, AC14 is a miss. You now know they are AC16.) His natural lore informs him that these are giant crabs, natural denizens of the coasts, now almost never seen on the Continent, where they were once hunted as a delicacy. They are basically large animals, aggressive and hungry, by the looks of them. Spire is 90 ft from the crabs.
Jozhur advances 50 feet, drawing a dagger. You are 50 ft from the crabs.
Dilantar and Yel'kno outpace their friend, moving 60 ft forward. Yel'kno draws a sword. You both are now 40 ft from the crabs.
The two clerics cast spells and move 30 ft toward the far crab. They are now 120 ft from it.
The three crabs continue to fight the dwarf and two humans at the pierside. The human takes a painful cut and falls. The human pinched by a claw also suffers.
The other crab advances 60 ft toward Engev and Lansel. It is now 60 ft from them.
Actions?

Continue to move forward, Yel'kno charges at the crab pinching the human with his rapier leading the way. With the weight of his forward movement behind it he manages to pierce the shell of the tastey treat with a sharp crack and plunge his sword into the meat beneath.

Charge!!!! (+2 hit, -2 AC until end of round)
Attack: Hit AC 17, 6 damage

While moving 30 feet towards the crab that the clerics are fighting (last round), Alphonse begins to rub his ring.
With the crab's movement this should put him within 30 feet of the crab, right?
If so, he uses his bonded object and his "Magic Dweller" trait to cast shocking grasp at 3rd level, aiming for the crab's touch AC for a roll of 19 (definitely hits, right?). 10 damage!
If not, Aplhonse goes into total defense after moving 30 feet towards the aforementioned crab. (putting his AC at 21/13/18)
(Ian) Spirysn'rar Kilarn AC 14/14/10 - CMD 14 - HP 6/6 d4+2=4 ; Wednesday April 18th, 2012 12:49:35 PM
Frustrated, Spire simply waves his hands, causing a purple streak of energy to charge towards the crab he missed, finding its target and striking the shell.
OOC :: Cast Magic Missile, dealing 4 damage
(Brock) Jozhur AC17/14/13--CMD 16--HP 19/19 Wednesday April 18th, 2012 4:32:12 PM
Jozhur rushes forward toward the crab Yel'kno struck, then attempts to put himself in a position to get at its backside.
(Double move, 40 feet forward to within 10 feet of the crab, using the remaining 20 feet to move as far to the opposite of Yel'kno as possible, then a 5 foot step to be adjacent to the crab.)
(Joel) Dilantar Krenwae'afein AC 15/13/12 - CMD 14 - HP 12/12() d20+6=16 ; d6+6=9 ; Wednesday April 18th, 2012 5:24:59 PM
Glad he can test out his new discovery so soon, Dilantar rushes a little closer to the crabs and lobs a bomb at the closest one. He made a small breakthrough regarding the area of effect that his bombs effected almost by accident. With this new discovery, Dilantar can almost control exactly where the bomb will splash in relation to the main target.
((Move 30 feet to be within 20 feet of the crab for bombs. Throw a bomb at the closest crab, 16 vs Touch armor, should it hit, causes 9 fire damage. If anyone except a crab is in the splash area, they are excluded(max of 5 people) from the splash damage. Other crab if close enough takes 7 fire damage, but can halve the damage with a ref save beating 16))
Satisfied with his discovery working as he wanted, Dilantar is almost unconcerned with dealing any damage. However, he quickly shakes himself and focuses again on the fight.

OOC: Denis, I'm assuming you hit AC25 for 17 damage. But you should post that with your turn.
[OOC to Alphonse: The two clerics have gone off at an angle to intercept the farthest away crab. Even if you had kept pace with them, you would still be 30 ft short. I'm assuming you kept with your own group of heroes, per Lansel's suggestion, and see below for my interpretation of your post.]
Last round Addendum: Alphonse cast his mage armor and moved 30 ft. At the end of last round, he was 70 ft from the crabs.
The heroes act
Yel'kno charges 40 ft forward, hitting his crab for 6 damage.
Alphonse moves 30 ft closer and is now 40 ft from the fight. You can cast the Shocking Grasp and hold the charge, you can use total defense although there is no one nearby, or you can move 30 ft closer to the fight, which would put you 10 ft from the melee. OOC: Sorry for the confusion.
Spire, 90 ft from the battle, casts a magic missile at at uninjured crab, inflicting 4 damage.
Jozhur takes a double move to swing wide around Yel'kno's Crab, flanking it.
Dilantar moves 30 ft closer. He is now 10 ft from Spire's Crab, which is the one pinching a human. He hurls a bomb that amazingly hits the crab but not the human! Spire's Crab takes another 9 fire damage. The splash does not reach another crab.
The "dwarf" -- now revealed to be a half-orc -- stands with a roar and attacks his crab, smashing it with his ax for 17 damage!
Lansel and Engev engage their crab.
The crabs attack!
Spire's Crab, the one pinching a human, crushes him to death! The human falls to the ground. The crab makes a high pitch whistle. At once seven crabs the size of cats swarm out of the water and attack the fallen humans, feasting. Spire's Crab then moves into melee range with Dilantar.
Reig's Crab lashes out with two claws! One hits AC19 and inflicts 3 damage to Reig. A free grapple attempt follows, and the animal beats CMD14 -- not enough to defeat Reig's CMD18!
Yel'kno's Crab attacks Yel'kno! Those pincers hit AC21 and 7, so one hits for 4 hp damage. The free grapple check beats a CMD13 -- not enough!

Dilantar backs up, draws a weapon, and hurls another bomb. It hits for 11 and downs Spire's Crab as a tasty baked crab scent begins to fill the air. Two of the baby crabs are burned, one badly.
Yel'kno swings and misses.
Alphonse steps up to Yel'kno's Crab and shocks it for 10 damage!
Spire wants to shoot his Crab, but Dilantar charred it. He shoots instead at (rolling randomly) Reig's Crab, hitting it for 3 damage.

Jozhur takes a swing at the last crab standing and hits hard for 14, taking it out too!
Meanwhile, the clerics have no problem killing the fourth crab, and now all of the monsters are defeated.

Dilantar, after assuring himself that the creature was dead, regrets not bringing his notepad, to record the results of the first field experiment of "precise bombs"(patent pending). As Jozhur comments on his cooking abilities, Dilantar is momentarily confused, what does cooking have to do with battle? and then he realizes what Johzur was referring too. With a grin, Dilantar quips, Dinner is ready and we now have a dish to bring to the party. Looking over at the individual who is still standing, Dilantar walks over to Reig and says, Greetings Reig, I am called Dilantar Krenwae'afein, however, if that name is too much of a mouthful, Dilantar is fine. How did you come to be accosted by the crustaceans? I don't beleive I know either of the other two people. with that, Dilantar walks over to the corpses and attempts to identify them.

Ever friendly, Jozhur greets Reig. Reig returns the favor and makes it plain that he does not know the dead. He wonders if the party does -- a natural thing to think. After all, who would come to anyone's aid here in this town of bones, unless you knew the victim.
Yel'kno checks over the crabs' victims with a thorough examination, and he does not need Brother Engev's help to see that they are not only merely dead, they're really most sincerely dead. He tends to the bodies gently, closing the eyes where eyes and eyelids yet remain.
Yel'kno, as part of his examination, notes that the backpack of one was burst open, and all manner of potentially valuable worldly goods have spilled out -- a spray of gold coins, several vials, and more. They were wearing good blades, too, though that did not save them in the end.
Dilantar also looks around, and notes by the way the blast of his bomb shadowed the wet ground that the crabs were laying in wait in the water, hidden, and rushed out to surprise their prey. Dilantar greets the half-orc and mentions that he does not recognize the two humans at all.

Alphonse digs in to the hot delicious meal, cracking open the shell with a tool he fetched as from thin air. He notes a gizzard within the beast with a large collection of stones.
Spire greets Reig, and keeps a keen eye out for members of the crowd who might want to grab some loot. He sees several, but they are keeping their distance for now.
Reig explains that he does not know the victims -- though it seems that they are followers of the god of disease. Reig wonders who the loud woman is who comes up and speaks with the group.
Ever practical, Yel'kno tallies up the loot, and finds this:
a Ring three Potions* three Scrolls* a Halberd a Dagger a Longsword a Club (inscribed with the words "Ol' Hickory") a pair of Earrings a small Chest a set of Clothing an empty Bottle Coins: 2 pp, 37 gp, 242 sp, 400 cp
Yel'kno, of course, recognizes the woman, and exchanges some lively banter with her.
Dilantar recognizes her too, but shyness keeps him from speaking up.
Jozhur asks Yel'kno for an introduction.
Alphonse searches for magic, and notes that the scrolls and potions are magical.
The simple mystery is soon cleared up -- This is Tula, bosun of the Lionfish. That's the ship that brought Dilantar, Spire, and Yel'kno to Bonetown, the former two as passengers, the latter as crew.
Meanwhile, Brother Engev heaves to in carving up the meat and sharing it with the crowd. Brother Lansel takes a closer look at the magic items, and (after a bit of magical examination) declares them to be Potions of Reduce Person, Cure Light Wounds, and Protection from Good; as well as Scrolls of Owl's Wisdom, Gust of Wind, and Shocking Grasp. All the scrolls are arcane scrolls.

I was actually on my way to the Sea Shanty to try to round up some crew. You all look like you could use a drink. Mind if I buy a round?"
Noticing the loot they have secured from the deceased, Tula waves a conciliatory hand. "Don't worry about them. Their belongings are likely to end up in the pockets of thieves and worse if you don't take it. Consider it a reward for a public service."

ooc: Did I say, "lunch break"? I meant, "when my morning meeting cancels."
Gathering what remains of the equipment and loot from your fight with the giant crabs, you are led by Tula and Brother Engev down a series of criss-crossing streets along the dockside. It is still early evening, with many a sailor and buccaneer finding their way to their favorite (or cheapest) watering hole for evening libations. The smell of salt is mingled with a dozen different scents of pungent cooking food, heady alcoholic beverages, and unwashed humanity.
You come upon a timber and white-washed plaster building. The sign hanging on a crossbar above the door features a comely elven lass - and rather modestly dressed, by local standards - playing an ocarina. The Sea Shanty is one of Bonetown's most popular drinking establishments, and is primarily populated by the local fisherman and gamblers. It is the best place in town for a pint and an excellent seafood meal. Jargie Quinn, a gregarious, one-legged man, is well-liked by the sailors and pirates who crowd his pub.
Opening the doors you find a long bar, perhaps a dozen tables with chairs, and a fireplace at the back. Lively conversation and laughter indicate that this is probably one of the more hospitable establishments you will find in Bonetown.
Jargie Quinn, Owner of the Sea Shanty Thursday April 26th, 2012 7:48:18 AM
Jargie looks up at the door as you enter, the evening sea-breeze causing the smoke inside to swirl past the front of the bar where he is standing. "Hey-Ohhh!" he calls out in a loud voice, drawing the attention of all within to your entry.
"HAAAAYY-OOOOHH!!!" The patrons respond, giving you all a rousing rendition of the proprietor's greeting.
The tavern is typical of its type, dark bar stained by countless hands and elbows, smoky haze, muffled conversations, etc. The one item that does stand out is the large aquarium behind the bar. A hand-carved sign on the tank states simply: "Norah". As you watch, a huge hagfish swims through a murky slime from one end of the tank to the other, seemingly the only living thing in the tavern not paying attention to you.
Jargie notices you watching the disgusting fish, and walks over to where a leather pouch hangs from a nail. Tapping on the pouch, he asks, "Care fer a swig from the tank? Only a silver to try, and if'n you can hold it down, you win the pouch, and you get yer name in the rafters, fer all time!" Looking up, you can see approximately two dozen names carved into the dark beams of the ceiling.
"Come on now, step up fer a chance at immortality!"
ooc: You have been issued a challenge, brave adventurers. Who will accept?

Spire gags as Jargie offers a swig from the foul water. Turning away, he pulls a handkerchief from his pocket and holds it over his mouth and nose, muttering, "Ye gods, that is disgusting. I will be at the bar when you find yourselves done with this." Shaking his head, Spire makes his way to the bar, massaging his temples in an attempt to rid his mind of the thought of the horrid water.

Surprised at the greeting, Dilantar is very thankful and wears a huge grin as they enter the establishment. Looking at the tank, admiring the engineering of it, it takes Dilantar a moment to "hear" what Jargie said. A little surprised, Dilantar considers. as an alchemist, can I really pass up the chance to experience the chemical make up of the environment for a captive hagfish? Arguing with himself for a moment, as he really is quite hesitant to try the water, curiosity wins out over common sense. I will have a go as well, may I ask where you got that aquarium? Dilantar awaits his turn for the drink.

Jozhur looks around the tavern for a moment and smiles. He plunks a silver piece down on the bar, "How bad can it be?"
A crowd begins to gather around the four who have volunteered to give Norah's tank a go. You notice that one of the challengers is Tula, who plunks down a silver bit onto the bar. Jargie takes the four silvers and puts them in the leather bag with a knowing grin. He then takes four mugs over to the tank, and lifts the lid.
The first thing that hits you is the smell. A wave of sheer nasty blows through the Hagfish, causing the crowd to start talking excitedly. That noise grows into a cheer as Jargie reaches each mug into the tank in turn, and each comes out trailing a long thread of mucus.
"Bottoms up, lads." Jargie says as he slams the four mugs down on the bar. "No money 'til it's empty and still 'down,' if you knows what I mean."
A glance into the mug tells you that the word "drink" may have to be combined with the word "chew" as the contents of your mug seem to be a clear, viscous slime. The crowd gathered round is in a frenzy of cheering, betting, and upheaval - apparently some can't even stomach the smell.
From the back of the taproom, Brother Engev appears both equal parts fascinated and horrified. He gives a weak cheer, obviously hoping for the best but fearing the worst.

The crowd roars as the four mugs go down, each swallow punctuated by a "GO! GO! GO!" from the patrons around you. The contents slosh out as a whole, causing slime to drip from the sides of each mug.
Finally it's over, and mugs slam down as one on the bar. The Sea Shanty patrons pause in their cheering for a moment, watching Jargie eagerly. After a few seconds, he begins counting down:
"Ten..."
"Nine..."
The crowd begins to take up the count...
"EIGHT!"
"SEVEN!"
Your stomach begins to churn as it battles with the self-defense mechanism of the hagfish...
"SIX!"
You can each see that the other is turning a deep shade of green about the face...
"FIVE!"
"FOUR!"
Knuckles white from gripping the bar, it's all you can do keep from heaving the lot. You do know that you have developed an extreme dislike for Jargie, and his damn tavern...
"THREE!"
It crosses your mind that there must have been a lot of failures for Jargie and the crowd to have the timing down to this degree...
"TWO!"
The crowd is in a frenzy, and they begin to back up, giving plenty of room to the four "contestants"...
"ONE!"

DILANTAR and TULA
You let rip with deep belches in perfect unison. The crowd is stunned at first, most still looking at the floor where they expected to see the results of your "contest". Then they erupt into a wild cheer, surging forward to shake your hands, slap you on the back, and buy you drinks.
ALPHONSE and YEL'KNO
In what can only be described as approximating the feeling of having your stomach touch your nose, the hagfish slime erupts from inside you. You double over, grimacing in tears, as you make gurgling, mewling noises toward your feet. The slime splashes on your legs, feet, and the floor. The crowd erupts in cheers, looks of surprise absent on the faces of the patrons. Jargie chuckles heartily and tosses a dirty bar rag your way, "Don't be feelin' bad. It happens t'everyone, young pup."
Jargie reaches up and takes down the pouch. "Here," he tosses it to Tula, "to the winners go the spoils." Tula catches it and smiles, then winks and hands it to Dilantar. "You can keep it, hon. This isn't my first time going toe-to-toe with Ol' Norah."
ooc: Dilantar finds 80 silver pieces inside the pouch.
REIG
Weathering the misty fog of the Bonetown evening, you come upon an establishment endearingly named ""The Busty Mermaid." The wooden sign above the door bears a painting, confirming exactly what you would think a busty mermaid would look like. You step in to the sound of clinking mugs, spoons scraping plates, and the susurrus of idle chatter. A warm fire burns in the hearth and the smell of the food is passable. A human serving wench catches your eye as she carries a tray of dirty dishes. "What'll it be, love? You drinking or eating?" She motions with her chin to the bar and to a nearby table, awaiting your response.

Addressing Tula again, Dilantar speaks when he gets a chance, Tula, if you don't mind me asking, do you know that individual from earlier in the evening? Our group has gained and lost people, and I am getting anxious that if we get into another situation such as Lansel's we may not have enough trustworthy help. Hearty cheers and pats on the back die down as the patrons of the Sea Shanty return to their drinks and meals. Jargie reaches behind the counter and brings out a new canvas pouch, hanging it above Norah's tank and beginning the cycle anew. He points up to the rafters above the bar and smiles at Dilantar, "Alright, time to memorialize yer name fer generations. Hop up on a bar stool and use a dagger or knife. Don't make it too big. After all, I plan on being here for a long time!" Someone at the end of the bar yells for a refill, and Jargie touches a knuckle to his head to excuse himself. "Duty calls."
After a few renditions of the festivities performed by other patrons (they can't quite seem to imitate the sound of hagfish slime being vomited), everyone quiets down and starts enjoying the relaxed ambience that is the Sea Shanty. You enjoy your drinks, and perhaps even some food if you are feeling hungry, all paid for by Tula and Brother Engev.
After an hour or so, Tula clears her throat to get your attention. "Since I have you here, and we have been suitably lubricated with drink, I have a proposition. Captain Renchild, that's the owner of the Lionfish, sent me out to do some recruiting for a coming voyage. Unlike some of the pirates here in Bonetown, we prefer our crew to be of the willing sort. Increases morale, and all that. The Lionfish will be taking on cargo here in port and transporting it to a buyer in the eastern reaches of the Yuva Sea. The cargo is "sensitive," which means it's probably not illegal but the buyer and seller don't want anyone knowing that they are doing business."
She takes a drink and continues. "The Captain noticed the three of you while you were aboard, and I saw how capable the rest of you were while fighting those giant crabs. If you are interested, base pay is five silver pieces per day, doubled for hazardous work, and a double share of the commission for each of you. And, of course, room and board is provided. In addition to normal work on-board, you would also provide security and such, considering your talents and abilities. How does this sound to you?"
REIG
The dinner prepared that evening, like most tavern fare, is seafood. You enjoy a moderately well-prepared stew, containing whatever scraps happened to be available at the market. You spy three or four different kinds of fish, as well as a few mollusks and even an octopus tentacle. It is seasoned and cooked well, so it fills your belly and keeps you warm.
The Busty Mermaid, despite what one may assume from such a suggestive name, is rather quiet. Old sailors discuss their recent voyages, and voyages to come. One complains about the weather, which quickly turns into a brief contest of who has the most sensitive body part to approaching storms. No one seems to pay you much attention, and an hour passes relatively quickly as you eat and drink.
Yel'kno (Jon) AC 17/14/13 CMD 17 HP 18/22 Thursday May 3rd, 2012 11:19:35 AM
Yel'kno eventually notices that the half-orc from the crabs didn't accompany them... he comes to realize that maybe they really are awful people for not having invited the half-orc along. (I thought we did, but looked back and realized we never did.. whoops!)
After giving his stomach half an hour to calm down he accepts the offer of food and listens to Tula's offer. "Hmm... is Piebald still swinging Father around? I'll not take kindly to his form of motivation again.... and any chance you'll be swinging by Rum on the voyage?"
Tula, Bosun of the Lionfish Thursday May 3rd, 2012 11:38:56 AM
Tula shakes her head. "Not for you. As contracts, you would be in a gray area somewhere between an officer and a regular deck hand. Discipline for you would have to come from Captain's orders. It's the same for me as bosun. 'Course, Piebald is likey to report anything he sees. In this case, though, the Captain wants you for security, so he's probably less likely to want to upset you."
She takes a drink. "As for Rum, that might be a possibility on the return trip. We have to keep schedule to meet the buyers, so you might be able to convince the Captain to port in Rum for a few days, or even drop you off there."

Spire's stomach churns at the thought of another trip on the tossing boat, but the adventurous side of his brain screams for some sort of stimulation. He had gotten rather bored sitting around Bonetown the last few weeks, and the fight with the crabs whetted his appetite for more. "Aye, I'll join the crew of the Lionfish once more. When would we need to be ready to go?] Thinking for a moment, Dilantar also says, Are you planning on asking that half orc gentleman who we assisted in this evening's... excitement? And then he looks towards Engev and Lansel, "Would you two be comfortable watching over our new home while we're gone? Maybe we should look into to hiring some guards for while we're out..."
Tula, Bosun of the Lionfish Friday May 4th, 2012 12:07:46 PM
Tula smiles. "Excellent. The deal is made. Report at dawn in three days to the third dock from the north on the eastern side of Bonetown. You'll see me sitting atop a stack of crates in front of the gangplank. I look forward to a profitable and amiable voyage. Now," She stands, plinking a few more coins on the table to cover any other drinks the party may wish. "If you will excuse me, I need to go find that half-orc." With a knuckle to her forehead, she leaves the Sea Shanty and departs into the night.
You see Brother Engev lingering on the door after Tula leaves. "What? Er, yes. What was that? Oh, of course. I would be more than happy to keep watch over your new home. Lansel and I can keep watch. I will just put a sign that says "QUARANTINE" on the door with my holy symbol stamped on the bottom. That should keep any riffraff out."
You continue to enjoy the drinks, food, and ambience of the Sea Shanty until the wee hours of the night, when Brothers Engev and Lansel call it a night and admit their need for sleep.

We're your average sea dogs - some are good, some are bad, most of them in between somewhere. The trip, judging by our foodstores, is likely to be two or three weeks one way. We will probably gather provisions prior to returning." Tula shrugs. "Just your average cargo haul. You'll have to come aboard if you want to know more. Anything else would just be my opinion." ----------------------------
Three days flow by quickly. The party has a serendipitous meeting on the streets with Reig, whom they welcome as a new acquaintance and friend due to his bravery and competence.
With the coming dawn, you all make your way down to the eastern docks. Sleeping bodies litter the streets as tavern keepers toss out drunks from the previous night. The sound of seagulls overhead forms a chorus with the swearing of fishermen putting out to water and church bells rather weakly marking sunrise. The ever-present smell of saltwater mingles with the cloying odors of cheap rum, vomit, and flopsweat. Ah, to be a sailor.
There, as promise, sits the Lionfish. A slim and swift frigate, designed for quick and efficient trips. She sits high in the water as several dozen sailors climb and dance in the rigging, preparing her for departure. Sitting on a stool before a small lectern where the gangplank meets the dock sits Tula. A line of sailors with duffle bags cues at her - new hires entering their names in the ship's log.
While most of those waiting in line are the typical mix of humans and halflings, the very last in line and standing just in front of you is a massive minotaur wearing a dark brown hooded robe.

When the party runs into Reig on the street, Yel'kno gives a big smile of white teeth and waves to the large half-orc, "Hey there.. Reig wasn't it? I'm glad we ran in to you. We lost you the other night and did not realize you hadn't come with us until we were already in the cups. I believe we have some business to discuss concerning what we found with the crabs..."
Later, at the ship, Yel'kno smiles inwardly at the thought of returning to sea. These last few days in Bonetown had been the longest span he'd ever been on land since he took to sailing as a boy and he missed the rock of the ocean waves under his feet.

The large minotaur turns to face the new additions to the queue and after after breify sizing them up states in a deep voice "You must be the additional security Tula mentioned. You certainly aren't like the rabble that has signed up so far. My name is Coerator Asterion and I will be joining you aboard the Lionfish."
"I am surprised to see so many of you. Whatever the cargo is, it must be important."

ooc: I apologize everyone, but I'm going to have to take a break from the Wold for a while. an unexpected money situation came up recently, and I have to work a lot of hours in a very short amount of time, so I'm afraid I'll have to bow out of the bonetown game, at least for the foreseeable future. I may be able to come back in the future, probably around august, but I just don't feel I can continue posting on a regular enough basis. I just want you to know that you guys are all great, and I've had a great time gaming with you!
Co-DM Tanner: Very understandable, Josh. Real-life sometimes gets in the way of having fun, doesn't it? :) Just send me or Cayzle an email when you are ready to return. We will keep Alphonse safe until then.

A thin, dark skinned elf with short, spiky, silver hair, wearing a long coat with leather armor underneath, and is festooned with various vials of...not friendly looking concoctions, approaches the large minotaur and addresses him.Greetings Coerator Asterion, I am called Dilantar Krenwae'afein. Yes indeed, we are the additional security, and as far as the cargo is concerned, Tula did not tell us anything more than you I believe. Speaking to the Coerator, Dilantar thinks that this group may be one he needs to stick with for as long as they will have him. With such a varied group, one Drow won't stand out so much.

Spire, too concerned with the imminent turbulence of the sea, simply nods at the minotaur, his eyes fixated on the Lionfish. Just keep your food down and everything will be fine. No vomiting on this trip, dammit. Gripping his bow tightly, he takes a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself down.

Reig greets the others and agrees to join the crew of the Lionfish. He has reservations regarding Tula's lack of concrete details regarding the purpose of the voyage, but his desire to assit the group that gave him aid agaist the crabs leads him to sign on. When they arrive at the ship Reig hangs back as the other sign on and speak with the minotaur. Reig spends several minutes studying the ship from the docks and looking over her crew before heading over to join the others. He too greets the minotaur as well as the rest of the crew but with few words. His mind focused on the ship.
Tula, Bosun of the Lionfish Wednesday May 9th, 2012 11:35:12 PM
Walking up the dock, slowly shuffling as the cue dwindles in front of you, eventually you come to Tula perched at her lectern. "Welcome! It's good to see you have some sense in yer heads. Sign yer name and hop on deck. Captain'll be on-deck in an hour to sound bells for departure. Feel free to introduce yourself to yer new mates. Oh, and watch out for the First Mate, Piebald. He's in a foul mood this morning."
After boarding, you see a flurry of activity as rigging and ropes are secured, barrels and boxes are loaded into the hold, new sailors jostle for introductions and bragging, and a sweaty, scruffy-looking man with a parrot tattoo on his neck strides up and down the deck. He has a cat-o-nine-tails in his belt (apparently not being used, but still being displayed) and yells at anyone within eyesight. You surmise that this is Piebald, First Mate of the Lionfish. He is currently attempting to 'motivate' a group of new sailors who are fastening rigging. You can immediately see that his nickname comes from the numerous melanoma spots on his skin due to years spent under the sun.
"Git yer gods-cursed feet movin', you useless sister-ruttin' squabs! If'n I wanted someone t'waste my time I'd've hired a blind whore t'... you! Shut yer trap afore I grab ye by the danglers and hang ye by them over the side! If Cap'n finds out ye be..." His tirade continues unabated as your attention is drawn elsewhere.
Overseeing the loading of several barrels filled with spears and arrows is a tall and rather dashing figure wearing a brown three-quarter coat and bicorne. He has rust-red hair and green eyes. He wears a finely-made rapier and matching dagger at his waist.
The sound of snorting, following quickly by expectoration, draws your eye to the platform near the front of the ship. You see an older man with graying hair directing several crewmen on repairs to the railing. His skin looks like gnarled driftwood from a lifetime in the sun and wind. "It ain't gonna be finished if you don't hurry it up! The Captain is not goin' to be happy if his fo'c'sle has more holes than a Zarthmoor cheese in it, now will he?" He quietly takes a pull of a small flask as he eyes the woodwork of the younger sailors.
"MOVE IT!" screeches a voice behind you. You see a small gray and green blur snake its way between your party. Catching yourself, you see a goblin chasing after a black-and-white cat across the deck. The goblin holds a rather large salad fork in its hand and has a predatory gleam in its eyes. A voice bellows out from the older man on the forecastle. "Damn it, Horace! I told ya to stop chasing after the bilge cat! He's not fer eatin'!" The goblin stops chasing the terrified feline and looks chagrined, putting the fork into his boot like a dagger. Turned toward you, you can see that one side of its face is badly burned. One eye is red and bright, but the other is milky white and surrounded by scars.
Tula follows up behind you. "Home, sweet home. I can't tell if that's reassuring or depressing. Either way, welcome aboard!"
(Joel) Dilantar Krenwae'afein AC 15/13/12 - CMD 14 - HP 12/12() Thursday May 10th, 2012 8:34:33 AM
Dilantar greets Tula, signs his name and steps on board. Hmm, it will be interesting to see how this trip goes from a crewman's point of view Turning to Tula as she comes up behind the group, after being startled by Horace the goblin, Dilantar says in a quiet voice, Well Tula, we are here as we agreed to be, is there any chance we might learn anything about this mysterious cargo? Additionally, what will be our..working schedule? Will we have free time, or will we be on guard pretty much all the time? Lastly, are there any of the crew you think we should keep an eye on in particular? Or is the crew trustworthy and not needing observation? I do not mean to imply anything about the crew, I just don't recognize most of the faces from the last time I was aboard the Lionfish and don't want to make a mistake out of ignorance on my virgin voyage as a crew member. Dilantar patiently awaits an answer, and makes plans to introduce himself to the most of the crew, if not all, to at least be able to match names to faces.
Yel'kno (Jon) AC 17/14/13 CMD 17 HP 18/22 Thursday May 10th, 2012 4:32:31 PM
Yel'kno steps up to the ship with a smile on his face... but it's one that disappears when he spots Piebald berating the new crew with Father hanging at his belt. At least he wasn't "motivating" the crew with that yet. Still, the former sailor has to stop himself from moving to help the crew with their preparations and remind himself that he's here as a guard not as a sailor this time around.
Instead, he moves up to Tula with Dilantar and the others to listen to her response to his questions and nods towards the fancy man with the barrels of spears and arrows, "That's a bit of weaponry as well... Is that part of the cargo or meant for the crew?"
(Mark) Coerator Asterion AC15/14/11 -- CMD 19 -- HP19/19 d20=11 ; Thursday May 10th, 2012 11:43:43 PM
"She's a bit small" mutters Coerator as he boards the Lionfish "But she looks fast. I like her".
Coerator rests himself on a nearby crate, listening to the exchange with Tula. "I also would like to know what it is we are guarding, and potentially who, or what it is we are guarding it from".
Tula, Bosun of the Lionfish Thursday May 10th, 2012 11:59:02 PM
Tula shakes her head. "Cap'n has sealed off a section of the cargo hold. Unless you feel like tackling one of the guards he has posted and picking the lock, I'd say it's going to stay a secret. That and anyone who does is still going to be on the ship for a few weeks. Cap'n has ways of finding out things on board. Just mind yer hands."
She ducks to avoid an armload of lengthy timbers being loaded by a sailor. "Yer work schedule starts tomorrow morning. We only need the squabs working to set sail. Everyone rises at dawn, we eat breakfast, then we work. You get yer grog at noon, work some some, then it's dinner time. After dinner you can do whatever yer heart desires."
Looking around, she rubs her chin. "Most of these squabs are new faces, but I doubt they'll cause trouble. I hired them fer brawn, not fer brains. Most trouble I expect is a drunken brawl everyone now and again. Some of the officers are right greedy, but then again, I doubt they would be in Bonetown if they weren't."
She turns to Yel'kno. "The weapons are fer any who need them if we find trouble. Pirates, sea creatures, various nose continental navies, you name it. Squabs get spears and clubs. Anyone working the rigging gets a bow. Officers are expected to outfit themselves. If you want one, just ask our sergeant over there, Gaston." She points to the red-haired man in the three-quarter coat.
(btw, is it pronounced Yel-k-no, or Yel-no?)
"Anything else? We won't be past the shallows fer a while, and Cap'n likes to take it slow in case any pirates are hanging near the docks to pick off ships. I doubt we'll be out of sight of Bonetown until sunset. Go ahead and introduce yourselves. We're gonna be on a small ship for several weeks and I don't want trouble."
(Brock) Jozhur AC17/14/13--CMD 16--HP 19/19 Friday May 11th, 2012 2:43:33 AM
On shaky legs, Jozhur boards the ship with the others. He listens intently to what little detail Tula provides but says nothing. He then begins to mingle with some of the crew, lending a hand here and there and trying not to catch Piebald's attention.
ooc: If you happen to look at this, best of luck Josh! Hope everything works out.
Jozhur wouldn't mind having that masterwork dagger from the crab loot, if no one objects.

OOC: I think of it as Yel - No
Yel'kno nods along to Tula's speech, though he does raise a question about their shift times, "No night watch for us then?"
And once answered, he'll move over to Gaston, "Good morning.. Gaston is it? I'm Yel'kno, hired on as guard for this voyage. I must say, I was a sailor on this ship when it came in to port and the Captain didn't see fit to provide us with spears. It's good to see you've managed to convince him to better arm the crew for such a dangerous voyage."

The dashing figure raises an eyebrow. "You were a mate on this ship? I think I would remember someone as... delightful as yourself." He licks his teeth and sniffs. "But there are a lot of people on board. I am Gaston, sergeant-at-arms. It's good to see Renchild have enough sense to hire some extra security. You came as a group? Tula likes to hire in bundles. Helps morale. You uh... you have any of the fairer sex in your group?" He looks over Yel'kno's shoulder to peer at the party.

Dilantar spends a few minutes with each of the major crew members, and Horace, and introduces himself as one of the new security unit. He will stay and chat with any that are willing to before finally introducing himself to Piebald. Greetings Piebald, I am one of the new guards, Dilantar Krenwae'afein, or Dilantar if you prefer. Are there any things I should take note of while aboard, and do we have a cabin assigned as of yet? Dilantar will wait for Piebald's response before heading to the two newer members speaking with them. It is Reig, correct? I am called Dilantar, we met before with the incident involving those crabs being confused about who eats whom. I am glad you are a part of our group, and be sure to see Yel'kno about your share of the loot gained from that encounter. We had thought you would be joining us for a drink when we walked off and did not realize we were not honored with your presence until later. If Reig responds, then Dilantar will stay and answer him to the best of his ability before going off to speak with Coerator Asterion. Walking up to the large Minotaur, Dilantar adresses him, Greetings Coerator Asterion, I am Dilantar Krenwae'afein, and am glad to have you with us. What kind of specialist are you? I follow the, somewhat dangerous, path of Alchemy. Are you a magic user or a frontline fighter? If the latter, then have no fear that I will singe your hide, for my latest discovery will allow me to exclude a certain area from any blast radius I produce with my bombs Dilantar speaks the last part with a grin, that only looks slightly maniacal.
Yel'kno (Jon) AC 17/14/13 CMD 17 HP 18/22 Monday May 14th, 2012 12:18:45 PM
Yel'kno gives Gaston a lopsided smile with a shrug, "I was only a sailor on the voyage to Bonetown. " and he nods towards the Sergeants rapier and taps his own, "Perhaps on this trip you'll do me the honor of sparing with me? I'm always happy to learn something new from an experienced swordsman."
Co-DM Tanner Monday May 14th, 2012 1:05:00 PM
Tula shakes her head at Spire. "Cap'n has the cargo hold locked down tight with a few bashers he hired 'specially for this haul. I'm betting Piebald knows what's down there, but the two of them aren't being right chatty about it. We'll have to find out eventually, since the cargo has to be unloaded for transfer. Your security duties are only for when we need security. Otherwise, you'll be doing duties like the other sailors."
Piebald looks up at Coerator and sucks in air between his teeth. "By Alemi's pus-filled hide, yer a big'un! Be careful ye don't knock anythin' over that doesn't need to be knocked down. What lies ahead of us is a long, boring trip out to some gods-fersaken island to dump a load of cargo. We could see pirates, fish-folk, fish-demons, Navy bastards, storms, or more pirates. Does that shed enough light for ye, Hamburger?" The first mate sneers and returns to berating the swabs unfolding the canvas for the sail.
Horace smiles a disturbingly-wide smile. "Welcomes!" The goblin looks down at the silver piece and his eyes go wide. "Horace thanks Jozhur. Thanks him very much." The goblin looks toward the old sea dog standing atop the forecastle. "That is Cato. Cato no approveses of Horace eating pet-animals. Says that owners of pet-animals get upsetses. Horace thinks that pet-animals taste just like food-animals. Not Horace's fault that bilge rats are okay to eat, but wizard's rat familiar is not okay to eat. Too confusing, says Horace!" The small goblin scratches at the burn scars on his face. "Cato not bad. He is very good. Saves Horace when Horace comes to Lionfish. Keeps man-sailors from killing Horace and takes him as apprentice carpenter. Horace happy working with Cato." The goblin looks up at Jozhur and holds out his hand. "Can Horace have another shiny piece?"
Piebald huffs in frustration at Dilantar's greeting. "First the cow, and now you! Does nobody around here understand the concept of work? What makes ye think I care what yer called? Now step back and let me be." It appears the first mate is in a foul mood. Or rather, he is a foul person having a mood.
Gaston shrugs to Yel'kno's suggestion. "I'm sure you have much to learn. For now I have to teach these squabs which end of a spear to hold toward the enemy. Perhaps saying, "Pointy end is bad" will be simple enough for them." You can see that Gaston is no longer paying attention to you, with his eyes drawn toward a female sailor bending over to tie down some rigging.

Spire found himself in what he thought could possibly be the worst part of the ship other than the deck. Cooped up in the cramped room with a drunk chef, reeking of fish and meat, and ordered to hack up the former. Spire was never a fan of fish, and rarely cooked his own food, let alone meat. He did an awful job of it, bits of fish flying everywhere as he cut it to pieces. Hearing he would be sent to what he heard as "The Bilges" seemed none too exciting.
"Hell and damnation. I'm not built for this life." Infuriated with his failure, Spire sneaks off during the day, determined to find out something about this mysterious cargo. (Perception 16)

We still call him Left Eye Krenwae'afein. I agree however on watching the crew. Perhaps we can report anything we find out to the rest of the security detail? Slightly stumbling from Coer's backslap, Dilantar goes off in search of his quarters before reporting for duty.
Upon learning his duties for the day, Dilantar heads over and learns what needs fixing. A few sails needed resewing, Dilantar tries his hand at that. With multiple handcramps from doing the unfamiliar task, Dilantar does a less than stellar job, but with perserverance finally performs an acceptable job repairing the sails. With a smirk at Piebald for being banished to the crow's nest for the day and gladly accepts the duty. With his bow over his shoulder and his quiver as his side he scrambles up the rigging with practiced ease and settles in the crow's nest for the day to peer out at the water and islands around them for signs of other ships or creatures in the water. He wears a grin most of the day as he enjoys the exaggerated swaying of the ship that he feels high in the crow's nest and reports anything he sees below.

Coerator makes short work of the various knots and hitches that cover the rigging and sails. He tries to keep his eyes open for suspicious activity, but finds little outside of normal ship-board activity.
Spire does a truly horrible job in the kitchen. The entire crew witnesses his sloppy food preparation at dinner, where large pieces of bone and scale are still evident in the stew. Piebald calls out, "Nice job, sod! That's half pay for ye today!" After dinner, Spire goes to investigate the mysterious cargo and finds that two brawny thugs guard the cargo hold at all times and a thick iron padlock seals the door. The guards rotate on 4-hour shifts. Unless you knock the guards unconscious or saw through the floorboards (which is definitely not a silent activity), no one is getting a peek.

Brock just barely manages to handle line work for the day, finding that it requires all of his attention. He chats with Horace, who is only too happy to accept the silver piece. "The rat belongsed to a spellslinger. He was going to Bonetown on the ship from somewhere south. Horace forgets where. This spellslinger had a rat. A tasty, tasty rat. It's name was Jenny. Jenny looked no differents from bilge rats. One day, Horace catches Jenny. Rips off her head and roasts her over fire. Deeee-licious, Horace says! Spellslinger got mad and tried to kill Horace. Not a fun day. Cato had to give him some yellow shinies to make him happy." After a somewhat-palatable dinner of fish stew and watered rum, he tries to investigate the cargo hold, but finds that there is little more than two competent guards and a locked door. Exhausted, he crashes asleep.
Dilantar does his work at a slow pace, unused to life at sea. With blistered and swollen fingers, he quickly seeks rest after dinner.

Yel'kno does a stellar job of keeping watch in the crow's nest, only to be rewarded with a terrible dinner that evening. After yet another dinner of fish stew, your reverie is broken yet again by the caterwauling voice of Piebald. "Hell's bloody bells! Are ye daft!?" After a minute or so, the door to the captain's chambers opens, and for the first time on the voyage you see Captain Renchild himself. He is a salty a sea captain as you have ever seen, wearing a weathered tricorne with a long three-quarter length leather coat. He sports a black beard well onto his chest and is missing his right eye. It seems he disdains the use of an eye-patch, as you see scarred skin where his eye once was. His skin is tight and wind-burned and his mien is grim. He points a finger toward Reig. "Lay hold of that half-orc." Several nearby crewmen grab Reig's wrists and elbows, bending them behind his back. "To the main mast." The crew clears way as Reig is manhandled to the main mast. His arms are securely tied around the thick timber mast, leaving him helpless with his back to the rest of the crew. Piebald walks up and stops several paces from Reig, then reaches for his belt and removes 'Father,' his cruel-looking cat-o-nine-tails. He looks to Captain Renchild.
The captain studies the half-orc for a moment, then nods. "Six."
Rearing back his hand, Piebald lets the leather thongs of 'Father' fly through the air. They make contact with Reig's back in a snap, sending a sharp retort across the deck of the Lionfish. The first mate calls out. "One!" Again his arm reaches back, then flies forward in a flash and wicked snap. "Two!" His call continues as he whips Reig's back. "Three! Four! Five! Six!" Each strike lays open Reig's clothing and draws blood, slashing several vertical stripes across his back with each blow.
(Total 11 damage)
Piebald looks to the Captain, who nods affirmatively. The first mate signals to two crewmen standing nearby, who reach up and undo Reig's bonds from around the main mast. The crew is silent as Captain Renchild surveys the ship. He speaks in a gravelly tone. "We work on the Lionfish. There is no shirking. From squab to captain, those who do not work will be punished." Without another word, Renchild turns and walks back into his bed chamber.
Suddenly a cry from the crow's nest breaks the silence. "Dark clouds to the northeast! Storm's a'comin'!" Looking northeast, you see a massive thunderhead of dark clouds racing toward the ship. You estimate that you have perhaps two or three hours before the ship is assailed.

A great black cloud swoops over the sky above the Lionfish, pummeling you with a downpour. The waves begin to tremble and heave, rocking the slim frigate and sending men scattering over the decks and masts.
Lightning flashes in the sky and you hear a strangled yelp of terror overheard. A sailor has lost his grip in the heaving and buckling of the roiling waves. He falls, desperately flailing his arms, before landing with a dull thud on the deck. Sailors rush to help him, but he lies still on the wooden floor.
Piebald roars out orders. "Brace ye'selves! Secure those ropes! Batten down the hatches! Tighten the cargo and kitchen! Put out any fires! You! Make sure the rum barrels don't come loose!" He continues calling out orders above the squall as the crewmen scurry into a mad dash of panicked activity.
===========================
The storm will last four hours. You must make two checks every hour to assess your competence in helping the crew.
Every player must make 8 Reflex saves, and 8 other checks. Please number your saves from 1 to 8 to keep things organized. You may select from the following list of possible ways to help:
Jozhur is very rattled by the storm, but does his best to overcome his fear of the rough seas. Someone as agile as he is should have no trouble staying on his feet aboard the swaying ship, but he makes a rather clumsy show of it, especially as the storm goes on.
Jozhur takes the time to look for any rigging in the masts that needs repairing, leaping and swinging through the masts attempting to work as quickly as possible. (Climb: 15, Dexterity: 12, Perception: 21, Acrobatics: 14).
He then makes his way back down to the deck and helps the crew communicate, acting as a runner and handling the ropes on the deck(Acrobatics: 18, Dexterity: 9). Realizing he would be more useful up in the masts, he nimbly climbs back up and sets to work making any repairs needed (Climb: 21, Dexterity: 16)
The intensity of the storm throws Coer initialy but his experience at sea shows through and he rides it out without too much incident.
With the ship unprepared for the inclement weather, Coer begins assisting the crew be securing the loose items on deck and taking stock of the damage being inflicted by the downpour.(Sailor=18, perception=25)
Having competed his assessment of the impact to the ship, Coer fleetly relays information between the various teams struggling to keep the Lionfish afloat, assisting where possible while dodging carrgo that seems to continuously free itself from its bonds. (Sailor=18, acrobatics=15)
Seeing Jozur on deck Coer takes his turn on high, swinging from mast to mast, keeping the ropes in check, and trying to avoid the fate of his fellow sailor who fell foul of gravity this evening.(Acrobatics=17, climb=10)
Swinging down to the deck, the ship sways violently sending barrels of rum in Coers direction. Coer cartwheels out of the way before scooping up the barrels, one in each hand, and quickly stows them in a earby cabin.(Acrobatics=15, strength=18)
Yel'kno rushes over to the fallen sailor as well and if there is still a spark of life in him he'll pull out his wand of CLW and apply a charge (Heal 7 HP) in an effort to save the sailor.
Perhaps shaken by the fallen sailor, Yel'kno first attempts at climbing the rigging fall short (climb 7) and he gives up and takes a moment to pull himself together by lashing down some loose objects on deck (Sailor 10) before making his way back to the rigging. With steadier hands climbs back into the rigging (Climb 21) to see to a flapping sail (Sailor 12).
He watches the storm progress, warning the captain and crew about a large swell he sees coming (Perception 27, Know(Nature) 26) and does his best to predict the end of the storm when he sees it near (Preception 13, Know(Nature) 19). Also, despite the dangerous situation as the storm blows and the seas toss the ship about, he grows to have a grin on his face and marvels at the chaotic beauty of the storm
Spire begins running around the deck, giving instructions to sailors to better combat the storm. He quickly studies the wind patterns and waves, and can easily provide the crew with some information regarding the storm. (Kn: Nature 28, Perception 21). He looks up in the rigging and sees more than a few people having problems up there. He climbs the ropes with little problem (Acrobatics 18) and uses that vantage point to order around the sailors in the rigging so that they won't fall by telling them where the winds will be coming from. (Kn Nature 19).
He helps tying whatever ropes need tying (Dexterity Check 18) and manages to keep himself balanced, and soon sees ha few men losing their balance. Hanging on for dear life with his legs, he frees his hands, one reaching behind to grip his bow. He manages to get the spell off just in time, slowing their descent descent until they bump gently onto the deck. (Cast Feather Fall). As he continues to work in the rigging, he keeps a constant eye out for the edge, or even the eye of the storm, hoping to get some respite from this madness (Kn: Nature 25). Spire has some difficulty climbing back down (Dexterity Check 11), and quickly runs to the edge of the ship, again keeping an eye for for a less windy area, or the end of the storm. (Perception 17).
Dilantar, noticing how Coer and Jozhur navigate the ropes so seemingly easily, attempts to as well. Grabbing a rope, Dilantar launches off of a a nearby stable object and heads up to the helmsman as quick as possible. Leting go of the rope at the apex of his arc, Dilantar tucks and rolls to ensure minimal damage to himself. (Acrobatics 18 and 14, swinging and landing respectively).
Upon reaching the helmsman, Dilantar then tries to keep his group members'(which does include Coer and Reig) positions in mind, to better direct him should someone fall overboard.(Perception 23) Should anyone fall overboard, Dilantar will then drink his Touch of the Sea extract, and dive in after them. Dilantar will grab the fallen member and attempt to catch up to the ship with his new swimming capability and look for a handhold for the two of them.(Take 10 on swim check, total 18 if needed)
Looking around while keeping his eyes open, Dilantar will be on the lookout for any unfriendly creatures using the storm as cover to attack(Perception 22) and identify them should they be approaching, with considerable accuracy.(Knowledge(Nature) 26)
Dilantar will periodically check his sextant to assist the helmsman in staying the course.(Survival 20) It takes most of his dexterity to keep an accurate calculation while on the rocking boat, but Dilantar manages a decent approximation before slipping and falling to the deck due to his intense focus.(Dexterity 9)I'm going to feel that tomorrow

The storm lashes the Lionfish for most of the day and the rest of the night. Your party strives valiantly to fight against the lashing wind and pummeling rain. Over the roar of the gale you hear ropes snap and canvas tear as the ship resists the incredible force of the storm. Several waves rush dangerously over the edge of the ship, knocking crewmen to their backs and scattering boxes of cargo. During the height of the storm, one monstrous wave washes over the deck and carries several swabs overboard, their terrified screams cutting through the air.
At last, the waves begin to cede and the wind dies to a breeze. The morning sun cuts through the storm clouds on the horizon to reveal the devastation on board. Sailors steady themselves and rise to their feet, exhausted from the battle against nature. Looking around, you can see that most of the damage is superficial in nature - boxes lost overboard, ropes and canvas ruined, windows broken. Piebald begins a headcount and discovers that four crewmen are missing. The crew of the Lionfish hang their heads in sorrow.
Suddenly, Cato the old carpenter cries out. "Zora, my baby!" He dashes across the deck and places a hand on the main mast. Drawing your eyes to him, you can now see that a deep and jagged crack snakes its way in a spiral around the thick tree trunk that stands in the center of the ship. He turns and addresses Captain Renchild, who stands on the aft castle. "She won't hold, Cap'n."
Captain Renchild frowns. "Will a repair hold?"
Cato eyes the mast again and shakes his head. "Nay, Cap'n. We need a new mast. I could band it in iron, but it will likely snap if we try to sail."
Captain Renchild nods and spits on the deck. "I will consult the charts for a landing spot. We will need to affect repairs before continuing."
Several of the sailors near you begin to murmur and Tula sighs in relief. "Thank the gods. At least we'll stop at an island and re-provision." She looks at the party and nods. "Ye will most likely be asked to go on the island and find supplies. The natives of the island chains can be none too friendly, and Cap'n will likely want someone who will survive the attempt." She shrugs, then turns to help swabs with the clean-up.
Yel'kno (Jon) AC 17/14/13 CMD 17 HP 18/22 Wednesday May 23rd, 2012 4:43:49 PM
Yel'kno frowns at the news of the four missing sailors, no doubt swallowed by the sea during the storm, but that was the risk each sailor took when they boarded a ship and they knew it.
With the news that they'll be going ashore to search for supplies and possibly see some less than friendly natives he sees to his gear to make sure that the storm didn't damage anything.
(Ian) Spirysn'rar Kilarn AC 14/14/10 - CMD 14 - HP 6/6 Wednesday May 23rd, 2012 7:06:05 PM
Spire spends no time mourning for the lost sailors as he is too busy clutching the railing and heaving up everything he had eaten in the past day. He stops for long enough to hear that they'll be going ashore soon, and thanks whatever deity is listening before resuming his post on the edge of the ship.
(Mark) Coerator Asterion AC15/14/11 -- CMD 19 -- HP19/19 Wednesday May 23rd, 2012 9:35:46 PM
Coerator says a prayer for the souls lost to the storm and pours a mug of grog into the ocean in their memory.
Pouring a fresh mug for himself, Coer addresses Tula "After the last few hours, a few grumpy natives sounds inviting." He then heads to his cabin the gather his belongings in preparation for landfall.
