All, Got this email message this morning.

.....................
Hey Steve,

My personal dramas continue in that I've been readmitted to hospital. Should only be overnight. Can you please make a post on Bone apologizing for missing this post?

Thanks

Rob

My apologies again folks for missing 2 DM posts in a row!

Jozhur loses grip of his weapon but notes that it sinks rather slowly. If the battle is over soon he should have no difficulty in retrieving it (See Note1 below)

Taking things personal now that he is armed with only a knife, Jozhur uses one hand to grab the creature by the neck whilst using his other to thrust his knife deep into its chest. With a quick twist, the knife is free and the unmoving creature slowly starts to sink.

Keiki has a closer look at the beings on the raft. Their hands and feet do not appear "fishy", and for all intents and purposes they appear to be human. They are still yet to move.

Knowing that a ship doesn't stay afloat for long when it takes on water, the witch makes his way below deck to assess the situation. Tula is directing a small band of sailors as they patch a hole. You wouldn't describe the situation as perilous yet. The water is coming in at a steady rate - similar to water being poured from a jug - but the sailors seem to have things in hand for now. Perhaps when the threat outside is dealt with you could get a clearer view of the hull from the other side?

Coer takes an object from his pack and activates his, surrounding his head with fresh breathable air.

Spire then gives the taur a boost - enlarging the already large Coer to huge size (Yep - this also enlarges Coer's weapons to size huge!). The Lionfish tilts ever so slightly to port now under the taur's weight.

Yel'kno passes the wheel to a nearby crewman as he begins the ritual to summon some aid (or more fodder).

The enemy respond...

Perhaps distracted by seeing his brethren gutted, #2 flails about with tooth and claw but is unable to land a strike on Jozhur (Miss AC5, AC16, AC10)

The two surrounding Kerg try a similar tactic. Both release their tridents and try to tear the half-orc apart (Forgot to add flanking bonus to rolls. Missed AC11, AC13, AC8, AC13. Hit AC14 and AC25. Kerg takes 13pts damage!)

Seeing the battle isn't exactly going the way they had planned, the remaining two enemies give up their assault on the Lionfish to instead target the foes in the water. One of them manages to graze Kerg's thigh with a trident (Miss AC12. Hit AC16. Kerg takes 6pts damage!)

Blood in the water - Combat Map

- Assume all enemies, Jozhur & Kerg are 10ft under water. The bow is to the top of the map.
- Rules for underwater combat: Underwater Combat
- Note #1: I thought it was a bit harsh to start putting disarm attempts in, particularly in underwater combat. Imagine at higher levels losing +5 swords just because you failed one disarm check! My original plan was to get permission for everyone to be able to use weapon cords (an APG item) however Jerry had another suggestion that I like: when you are disarmed in/under water your weapon will sink at a rate of 5ft per round. If there is an opponent near you, picking your weapon up it will provoke an AoO just as if you were picking it up from land. Sinking at 5ft per round means that if combat is over quickly you should be able to safely recover any disarmed weapons, or at least be able to retrieve it before it is lost forever.

The towering Taur leaps into the air and over the rail. His bulk blocks the sun for a moment, before it glints off the curved blade of a temple sword longer than a man, that is now raised in anger.

As he submerges, Coer drags the blade through the water slicing one of the creatures attacking Kerg.

Keiki makes an assessment, and sees that the sailors have the leak in hand. So too, the tapping sound has stopped, which makes the coppery-skinned half-elf think the Lionfish heroes in the water are making an impact on the attackers. That, plus the sudden heaving of the ship makes Keiki aware there is a third hero in the water!

In a single swift charge up the ladder, Keiki makes it to the main deck and begins casting a spell to help his new friends. Soon, it is not a half-elf sitting at the rail, but a coppery-skinned Merfolk!

The mighty Coer hits the water with a large splash. He brings his sword down upon the nearest foe - the blade slicing into its shoulder.

Keiki returns back to the deck of the Lionfish, and quickly transforms himself into a Merman. His lower body now appears to be similar to that of a fish, differing from the webbed limbs of the enemies in the water.

Jozhur moves about comfortably in the water, but finds the water affects his vision as his strike misses its target

Yel'kno's dolphin swims in to flank its target, slamming the enemy from behind. The creature seems to vomit blood from some internal damage.

Spire considers sending a magic missile into the water but then thinks better of it (See Note1 below)

The enemy continue their assault. They talk in a language unfamiliar to any in the water, seemingly coordinating their moves.

E2 and E4 each take steps to surround Jozhur (See Note2 below)

E6 also positions himself to flank Kerg.

The attacks them come in thick and fast.

E2 seems to be doing more distracting than any real damage (Attack Jozhur. Miss AC12, 14 & 12)
E4 fares much better. Its claw sinks almost as deep as its teeth (Attack Jozhur. Miss AC14. Hit AC19 and AC21. Jozhur takes 11 damage! Please remember to update your header. You have taken a total of 22 damage)

E3 and E6 then commence their flanking attack on Kerg. One of E3's claws acts as a distraction, whilst the other claw makes its mark. Finally its teeth make impact on Kerg's arm (Miss AC11. Hit AC16. Hit AC27 (Nat 20) failed to confirm crit. Kerg takes 12 damage!)
E6 has similar success with a claw and tooth (Miss AC11. Hit AC17 and 18. Kerg takes another 10 damage!)

E5 eyes widen when he sees the huge taur in the water with him. Considering his options, he decides to leave the taur alone and tries his best to finish of Kerg (Miss AC9. Hit AC16 and AC19. Kerg takes 11 more damage!)

Keiki casts a spell and holds the magic in readiness before plunging into the salty waters. He looks at the embattled Kerg, bleeding profusely, and wants to get to his side. Yet to do that, Keiki has to swim around a fish-man and invite an attack of his own!

Keiki steels himself for the task. The Lionfish took him in, has treated him like a member of the crew and not a slave. Kerg has been the closest to a friend that Keiki has had since a child, smiling and teasing good-naturedly...

Jozhur lunges with full force at one of the creatures attacking him. His knife blow is swift and deep, and he watches as the creatures body goes limp. Unlike the previous kill, the body of this one starts to slowly float to the surface

In merman (mermaid?) form, Keiki dives quickly into the water to be diagonally below Kerg's. The witch's touch closes a number of the wounds the Kerg had sustained so far in this battle.

Yel'kno summons another dolphin to the scene. Though the first one makes an inneffective strike, the second pulverises one of the enemy swimmers (E2 was already killed so instead I moved you dolphin to finish off E3. Hope that's ok)

Coer's rage grows as he sees what the creatures are doing to his shipmate. With heroic precision he severs the head of the enemy nearest him. (Nice reference by the way!)

Spire growls with frustration and considers using an acid arrow attack. (Per the rules: "You can't make an attack against a target that has total cover.")

Now clearly outnumbered the enemy communicate to each other in a foreign language. They withdraw some 100ft from the Lionfish and look to be maintaining that distance.

Yel'kno takes back the wheel and gets as close to the survivors as he can, ready to sail at a moments notice

Coer helps pull the unconscious enemy creature abord the ship. Scaly skin, webbed hands and feet, and humanoid body but a fish-like head. If ever there was a fish taur, this could be it. (DC12 Knowledge Nature check to ID the creatures). Now that it has been pulled out of the water Coer notices that its gills have stopped moving, but its chest continues to rise and fall. This creature seems to be comfortable on both land and sea.

The two human survivors are also pulled aboard. A man and a woman - perhaps in their early thirties. Their skin is badly burnt and their lips are dry and cracked. They fade in and out of consciousness as the party and crew fuss over them to get them aboard. Their clothes aren't the fanciest - perhaps the kind a peasant would dress up in to go to church or temple? Not terrible, but nothing fancy.

A quick spell on the Sahaugin, as Yel'kno names the fish creature Stabilizes the creature to prevent him from dying. "Perhaps it should be tied up before I awaken it?", he suggests very mildly.

To the man and woman, he is much more gentle, seeing to their needs for a little water and a morsel of food, making a soothing salve from some dried vegetables from the galley. He then whispers a prayer, softly chanting over the still forms; "Na makani mauka ho'ala waikane waiwahine, mahalo Lono!", infusing some of his patrons Power into healing the castaways.

Yel'kno and Keiki concur on the nature of the creature: a sahuagin. Keiki stabilizes the captive to make sure it doesn't die on the deck. Well, for the time being at least.

Coer secures it securely with rope before it awakens. He gives the rope an extra tug just to make sure it is secure.

Keiki recognizes the signs of exposure on the two humans, and in a gentle fashion does what he can to treat them with small morsels of food and water. Too much too quickly could be a shock to their systems. He tries his domain gift, but finds it has no effect. These two are not dying - simply fading in and out of unconscious. Keiki's experience in this field tells him that getting these two out of the suns rays may also be helpful.

Spire looks on with interest, trying to garner what knowledge he can from the people simply by their appearance (one can only wonder if he also judges books by their covers). There are no signs of scars or tattoos on either person, so it would be unlikely they came from Bonetown. In fact, it would be unlikely they were sailors at all based on their attire. Their clothing would be considered commonplace in Aisildur or Fargunia. Had they not been found at sea, and had their clothing been in better condition that may have fitted in quite well in a marketplace somewhere. Yes, it is possible these people have come from the east.

It is at this point that the sahaugin opens its eyes. It hisses and struggles in its bonds, but Coer has tied them quite tightly. It speaks in a language foreign to many.
If you know Aquan... Highlight to display spoiler: { Release me! }. It continues to struggle.

Keiki (SteveK) AC 14/14/10 CMD 16 HP 32/32
Friday April 19th, 2013 9:48:05 AM

Keiki, his lost family having been nomadic seafarers, knows the language the Sahaugin speaks. And thanks to Yel'kno's knowledge, understands a great deal more. "He is demanding that we release him", he tells the Captain. In Aquan, repeated in Common for any of the Lionfish crew or heroes who do not, he replies to the fish-man. "Your kind know the Common tongue, so you may as well speak it, pirate."

Then the half-elf turns his attention to the couple on the deck, politely asking a couple sailors to bring them below decks and away from the sun. Keiki stays with the injured people, gently nursing them to their health.

Keiki does the translating, knowing full well that these creatures speak the common tongue. He then excuses himself to look after the injured humans.

Coer imposes himself over the captive and demands answers. The sauhaugin cowers, and its struggles become less instense "We were only hungrrry" it responds in common and in a sad, trembling voice "Frrresh meat can be harrrd to come by". It squints its eyes in the sunlight.

Yel'kno calls for a guard to be placed outside the cabin of the two humans, to which Jozhur volunteers.

Spire looks over the maps to plot a return to Bonetown.

With Keiki's aid the humans start to regain their bearings. Without provocation the male gets to his feet and assumes a fighting pose, raising his fists. He positions himself between the woman and Keiki "Any of you seeking to touch her will have to get through me!" he threatens. He appears offbalance and probably no match for much of the crew.

Keiki poses some interesting questions to the Captain, to which Yel'kno and Coer then address to the captive. The sauhaugin looks puzzled "Fisssh are hard to come by in thessse partsss now. Invadersss have come. They sssink boatsss. Not usss. I have helped? You'll releassse me now?" Its eyes are still squinted in the light, and its tone has changed to be almost pitiful.

Coer believes the creature to be speaking plainly and what it believes to be the truth. (@Coer: Intimidate checks last for at least 10mins, so we can just use your original roll of 24 for the next few posts if you like?)

Spire has heard many tales of the sahaugin. They are quite territorial and rarely ally themselves with others. If their 'turf' is being invaded they would likely be too proud to leave it or have anyone who would help them. What's more, anything that can take food from a sahaugin would be something not easily dealt with. One other thing comes to Spire's mind. He recalls hearing tales of these creatures having the ability to communicate with sharks over quite some distance. Having one aboard the ship could be trouble waiting to happen.

Meanwhile below deck, Jozhur tries to make some friends. The man has placed his arm around the woman and she leans in to him. "I am Claudien. This is my partner Adela" he answers Jozhur quietly "Those creatures were circling us for what seemed forever. If you have one aboard I would feel much safer it was killed" The woman shudders.

Yel'kno and Spire look to each other with knowing faces. It would sound as if the creature being described by the sahuagin is a hippocampus, though they have a reputation of being extremely passive and would seem unlikely to attack vessels. If it wasn't for Coer's intimidating stance, it would be easy to think the sahaugin was lying.

It responds to Yel'kno's request with a sound of hope in its voice"I ssswear! Jussst fisssh. No ssshipsss! I cannot ssswear the sssame for my brothersss, but you will not sssee me again. I ssswear!" It looks at the Captain through squinted eyes, before longingly glancing to the sea.

Coer draws his sword and raises it high in the air, much to the shock of the Captain (and DM!). Coer surprises both by cutting the ropes binding the sahaugin. The creature slowly starts backing towards the side of the ship, before hurriedly diving into the water without another word. Several moments pass and no sign of it appears on the surface.

Keiki, Coer and Spire then consult the charts. They are confident that are in the vicinity - give or take - that the ring specified. Perhaps they were too late? There is enough wreckage in the water to suggest a ship recently sunk. There are no islands within 3 days sail of the current location. The nearest being some located between the Centaur and Linotaur isles.

Jozhur finds Joansie in the ships galley - the woman having taken on the role of ships cook since Squint's demise (that and perhaps Tula saw fit to punish Joansie for siding with Renchild). She had already been preparing for the evening meal and scoops a helping of some sort of stew into a bowl alongside a sizeable piece of crusty bread. It all smells edible enough, and Claudien seems very appreciative of Jozhur's efforts.

Tula reports in to Yel'kno that Cato has Horace hard at work ensuring the hull is repaired correctly, and that Pinny is almost at the end of his shift in the crows nest. "You seem to know a fair bit about these creatures, and you speak their language. I would like to speak with you more on these matters in the morning."

Yel'kno considers alternatives, such as whether any other survivors may have made for a nearby island.

Keiki tries to piece together a puzzle but the picture they form does not make sense yet.

Coer takes first watch and makes light work climbing the rigging. Spire joins him on first watch, pacing the deck and making sure all remains quiet. The pair notice a lack of fish in the water, and at one point Coer spots what may be a sahuagin keeping an eye on the ship from quite a way away. It makes no attempt to get close to the ship - perhaps having seen how easily the party took care of its kin earlier.

Jozhur and Keiki look to take the middle watch, leaving the Captain to rise early with the rest of the crew. Keiki finds the rigging easy to climb, and the fresh air atop the ships mast is envigorating. Jozhur walks the deck of the Lionfish. The familiar rocking of the ship and the sound of the water lapping by the hull is enough to put most sailors to sleep. Jozhur catches the sound of some aruging below deck. It sounds like Tommy and Too-Elt and it certainly isn't quiet. The noise is enough to prematurely waken Yel'kno.

ooc: Keiki is only using Yel'kno's successful Knowledge check on the Sahaugin (18 April) and the Hippocampus (25 April) to say the things he is saying. Because Yel'kno shared his infomation with everyone else, we can now speak of Sahaugin and Hippocampus.

Keiki's own knowledge of such matters is very sketchy! (No ranks in Know Nature)
...................

Keiki enjoys his time up on the tall mast, the feeling of being just a little bit away from it all, the time alone, the knowledge that no one can sneak up on him and beat him... The half-elf is glad the climb was easy, for it is a skill he never had much chance to try before, and he keeps alert through his watch.

Jozhur and Yel'kno meet on the way to find out what has caused such a disagreement between the normally good-natured crew. The sounds of the argument leads to the hold. Inside the hold is a sight the pair were probably not expecting to see.

Jozhur and Yel'kno enter behind Tommy. The half-orc is facing off against Too-Elt, the human. Too-elt has his knife drawn.

"Grr.. what's gotten' into you? They are our enemy!" Tommy tries to rationalise with Too-Elt
"You shall not harm her!" Too-Elt swings his knife wildly in response.

Behind and protected by Too-Elt, stand Claudien and Adela. Claudien can be seen beside a partially pried up board on the hull (one of those recently repaired, perhaps?). Adela stands next to some bags of wheat and oats that have been sliced open. Both humans are armed with knives.

"Help us! He has gone mad!" Claudien calls to Jozhur and Yel'kno.
"Lies!" Tommy growls and tries to reach past Too-Elt. But the knife-wielding man continues swinging, and this time manages to cut Tommy's hand
"I will protect her!" Too-Elt vows

Jozhur - please check your email!

===============================================

Atop the mast, Keiki sits peacefully. The sound of the waves against the hull sounds "different" causing him to peak downwards for a moment. On either side of the Lionfish, two horse-heads emerge from the water (two on each side, four in total). Before Keiki can raise any alarm he witnesses them morph into humanoid forms that start quietly climbing the side of the ship.

Keiki's eyes bulge out of his head; horse-fish who are shapechangers! He wants to warn the crew and heroes, but is afraid that shouting will not be heard by the other shouting belowdecks. What is around that could cause a big enough noise...

The half-elf reaches into a pocket of his explorer's outfit and withdraws a fragile stone. Palming it in his hand he then drops it to the deck below. Upon striking the hard surface from a height of 30 feet or more, the Thunderstone explodes in a deafening sound!

Keiki then starts shouting as loud as he can. "BOARDERS! HIPPOCAMPUS SHAPE-CHANGERS! BOARDERS!" And he keeps shouting!

Catching the half-orc completely off guard, Jozhur draws a sap and - despite hitting the orc in the rear - drops Tommy to the ground in one shot. Too-Elt seems happy with the result as do the two humans he is protecting.

Yel'kno calls for calm and for everyone to take a breath and relax. There is a momentary pause as a very loud and sudden noise sounds from above. Claudien points at Yel'kno and yells "Lookout! He means to hurt us too!". Too-Elt takes up a defensive position. Claudien and Adela smile at their guard, and then both go to work trying to pull up / damage boards of the hull with their knives.

Keiki drops the stone, and then covers his ears before the resulting bang. He hears two squeals from below and then silence as he calls for support.

Coer makes it deckside and looks about. Jozhur is nowhere to be seen, despite having been allocated this watch. The taur goes defensive, creating a shimmering armor to protect himself. The source of the loud noise is also unknown for the time being.

Four dripping-wet humans climb onto the deck of the ship and look about. Two of them draw knives (E5 and E6). A third looks directly at Coer and smiles, whilst another looks up at the crows nest.

Keiki momentarily forgets himself but comes to his senses just in time. One more step and he'd have hit the deck of the ship very hard. He draws a wand and targets it at the nearest enemy, though it doesn't seem to have any effect (Will save vs DC11: 26 - Nat20)

Coer appears to have fallen under their spell, but is simply looking to get close enough to strike. His fists miss their mark, but his sword is drawn across the face of one of them. Between the moonlight and the toches on deck, Coer notices that his blade is now covered in some sort of bluish gel. The same substance seeps from the exposed wound on the human, and drips onto the deck.

Jozhur moves to protect Claudien fromo Yel'kno, fearing what the Captain may do. Too-Elt stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Jozhur, still waving a knife.

The enemy react.

E3 and E4 both draw their knives and step closer to Coer
E5 and E6 move to within striking range of Coer and lash out with knives, but none manage to penetrate the taur's defenses (Miss AC18, 14, 8, 11)

Keiki feels something he hasn't for some time now - concern for someone else. He targets one of the nearby creatures and though he feels the power of the ley lines, the creature does not seem to be obeying his command (The thunderstone writeup doesn't say anything about you knowing which targets were affected or not so I intentionally kept that from you. Unfortunately E4 was one the two. Being deaf it wasn't affected by Lesser Geas as it only affects creatures if they are "able to understand you")

Coer momentarily considers the origin of these creatures, but decides that is something for the intellectuals to worry about later. For the mean time it's probably best to try and collect some more samples for them. Sword and fist work nicely together as he draws more blue goop before stepping back to admire his work.

Yel'kno casts a spell that goes off like a fairy's sneeze - everything is covered in glitter! Claudien, Adela, Jozhur and Too-Elt all sparkle brightly. Claudien and Adela appear to have stopped, or at least slowed down their attack on the hull. They are certainly being much more careful with their knives. Too-Elt is turning his head left and right and swinging his knife dangerously in front of him.

Spire arrives on scene and quickly and greases the two newcomers. Adela falls prone to the ground, her knife dropping from her hand, but Claudien remains standing.

Jozhur sparkles like a twilight vampire but can see perfectly well. He stands his ground in defiance of his Captain ( Jozhur Highlight to display spoiler: {You are free to move how you like but no further away from Claudien that you are now and always to protect him from what you perceive as a danger, ie: you can move closer to him if you wish. Should he move then you will follow. Up to you who Jozhur would consider the bigger threat to Claudien - Yel'kno or Spire})

Tula and Pinny come down the stairs behind Yel'kno. Tula has her sword drawn whilst Pinny stands unarmed behind her. "Cap'n?" Tula asks as she takes a defensive position next to Yel'kno. Pinny stands behind Tula.

The enemy act...

Adela stands up, regaining her footing (Provokes an AoO from Spire!). She swings her right fist out to the side without looking to see where she is striking. Remarkably - she manages to make contact with Spire! For a small woman she has a surprising amount of force behind her punches (Roll for miss chance: 99 = Pass. Hit AC12. Spire takes 8pts damage!)

Claudien growls and turns, putting his back to Adela. He stabs his knife at the air in front of him. His once calm and welcoming face is now a picture of rage and hate.

Above deck...

E3 and E4 move to attack Coer (Provokes an AoO from Coer! Unlesss you have Combat Reflexes in which case you get more than one...) They appear to have practised this maneuver before as both manage to find gaps in the monk's defences but their knives fail to pierce the magical armor. (E3 Hit AC21 BUT forgot -2 for being deaf so MISS. E4 Hit AC21 BUT forgot -2 for being deaf so also MISS)

Now that the others have joined in the assault, E5 and E6 each step closer to the monk and unleash their attacks. E5 may be feeling the effects of blood-loss as his attacks miss, but E6 seems to have become empowered by the fight (E5 miss AC14 & AC10. E6 hit AC25 - 15 fails to confirm crit - for 5. E6 hit AC26 - 24 confirms crit - for 8. Coer takes 13pts damage!)

Behind the enemy Coer and Keiki see Cato and Horace come on deck. Each has a sword drawn, but how the old man and the goblin would fare against one of the "people" facing Coer is unknown.

Jozhur tries to defend the humans by knocking Spire around a little with a sap. The damage is non-lethal but enough to stagger the wizard. Spire backs away from the combat.

Tula moves forward having grasped the situation. She approaches Too-Elt, tilts her blade and firmly smacks it across his head. Too-Elt drops unconscious to the ground. (Hit AC24 - Nat20. Failed to confirm crit. 7pts non-lethal damage). Tula gives a satified nod.

Pinny moves to stand by the captain.

Keiki floats gracefully down to the deck with a net in his hand. He looks to Cato and Horace to back him up with his plan to flank the enemy in front of them. The three of them move in cautiously.

Coer draws a substantial amount of "blood" from the "humans" - E5 and E6 wobble on their feet. E5 looks to be struggling to breathe, whilst E6 is nursing a huge gash in his stomach.

The enemy act...

Adela is blindly feeling around at the air in front of her.

E5 and E6 can barely stand on their feet having taken so much damage from Coer. E5 scampers backwards over the railing whilst E6 does a less elegant retreat simply falling over the railing (Both E5 and E6 use the withdraw action to get over the side of the ship and swim straight down)

E3 and E4 though seem less interested in retreat and more interested in skinning this taur. Each steps a little closer to Coer, flanking him now. Though their attacks seem solid, neither is able to penetrate Coer's defenses (Hit AC21, 21, 22 and 17 HOWEVER forgot to subtract 2 for E3 and E4 being deaf, so no attacks land)

A good round for our heroes!

Jozhur moves to flank Tula, gracefully dodging any of her attempts to take a swing at him in the process.

"You'll leave that pretty woman alone, Tula!" He takes a swing at her with his sap, connecting with a solid thump.

Keiki sees his chance and tosses the net over E4 and pulls on the leading rope, entangling the creature!

"You stay put, and the Captain will have some answers!", the half-elf promises the shifter.

.....Actions
standard: Net (ranged Touch Attack) Entangled
Strength Check vs E4 str = 14 to keep him within 10 feet.

An entangled creature takes a --2 penalty on attack rolls and a --4 penalty on Dexterity, can move at only half speed, and cannot charge or run. If you control the trailing rope by succeeding on an opposed Strength check while holding it, the entangled creature can move only within the limits that the rope allows. If the entangled creature attempts to cast a spell, it must make a concentration check with a DC of 15 + the spell's level or be unable to cast the spell.

As the two 'bloodied' and beaten foes turn to the sea and move to dive overboard, Coer focuses on the two who remain and are trying to skewer him. Their attacks hit the mark with practiced skill; however fail to penetrate his defenses.

When Keiki nets one of the beasts it appears she wants a live captive. "Cato. Horace. Help Keiki disable that beast -- but keep it alive!"

Coer looks the remaining foe in the eye and roars as he tries to hit it, but all tree strikes miss

Jozhur tumbles, stopping behind Tula and delivering a blow with his sap to her head. She drops to the ground alongside Too-Elt and Tommy. Three members of the crew now lie unconscious. Tommy who was knocked out by Too-Elt, who was knocked out by Tula, who was knocked out by Jozhur.

Claudien smiles at Jozhur's handiwork.

Yel'kno tries to reason with Jozhur, even whilst tripping the rogue! Jozhur lands hard on his back.

Pinny stays well away from the fight, unarmed and not wanting to come between the captain and officer.

Spire too backs carefully away from the fight. His head still rings from Jozhur's blow.

Keiki nets one of the foes and pulls the rope tightly.

Coer's training taught him how to fight many foes at once - something he has proven more than capable of doing. He seems to have trouble focusing his might on just one target as the human ducks and weaves quickly.

Cato steps closer, taking Keiki's advice about only fighting defensively. Horace meanwhile holds his ground.

The enemy act...

Adela shakes her head and looks about (Will save vs DC17: 18 = Pass!) Snarling she moves towards Yel'kno, trying to punch the Captain. Yel'kno easily dodges the blow however (Attack hit AC10 = Miss)

Claudien follows up trying to stab Yel'kno with a knife, but the Captain's defenses beat him as well (Attack hit AC13 = Miss)

Above deck...

E3 times his attack and finally draws blood from Coer. The humans knife slices at the taur's bicep (Attacks: Hit AC15 = Miss. Hit AC24 for 6pts damage. Coer takes 6pts damage!)

E4 finds himself stuck in a net; the ropes of which seem far too strong for him to break. Deaf and ensnared, he tries to make his escape. He tries to throw himself overboard, but Keiki holds the rope tightly. Keiki feels the rope go taught and it takes all of his strength not to let go (Strength check to beat Keiki DC14: 9 = Fail. Note DM Roll should have been +3 not -3. The weight of the "human" is around 170lbs. Best I could find on this situation would be: A character can lift as much as double his maximum load off the ground, but he or she can only stagger around with it. While overloaded in this way, the character loses any Dexterity bonus to AC and can move only 5 feet per round (as a full-round action)).

Horace drops his sword and tries to help Keiki take the weight on the rope, but the strength of the goblin seems negligible.
