[Everyone please take 300 XP for the first scene.]
A few days after your return, Ka and his warriors depart the Trading Post, with a basket of bread and a bottle of ale they managed to trade for, as samples for their village. At the same time, a work crew departs for station #10, to complete the clean-up. Ka and his kobolds have agreed to escort the work party to the waystation; they'll be moving on from there.
Zyk is among the work party; he looks none too happy about it.
It is quiet at the Trading Post for a few days. Then a striking-looking stranger comes to town.
He is a large, rough-looking man with unruly black hair and a thick black beard. He wears a cloak made of some kind of animal skin, leather armor, and a seemingly permanent scowl. He arrived with a group of merchants, but doesn't seem to be with them; indeed, they seem to want little to do with him.
When Haggard, behind the bar at his inn, asks the stranger what he's doing in town, the man replies, "Minding my own business. You should try it sometimes."
[OOC: Players tend to get really distracted while there are Catacombs transactions going on. So let me spell out a few things. :) It's been days since anybody went to the Catacombs. And, whether you are in the Catacombs or not, you still need to post here every day.]

As was usual at meal times, Yngvar was sitting at his table in the inn when he heard that a trading mission had arrived. Sliding the journal of his adventures into his haversack he took a sip from the flagon of ale and watched as the stranger walked into the bar.
Noting the interaction between Haggard and grumpy, Yngvar pipes up We find that a pleasant demeanor does much for one's disposition. You are here in this man's establishment, it is part of his job to ascertain the needs of his patrons. Standing in his bar, how else would he think of you than as a patron? Waving to Haggard, his ale on my tab, Haggard, and a refill for me please.

Faust looks the rude newcomer with curiosity, after all, usually people have a reason to be rude, most commonly either to hide something that is very interesting for others or dangerous; in both scenarios, it's a good idea to know what it is.
But as Yngvar is already dealing with him, he turns his attention to the merchants, but still keeps a minimum of attention in case of trouble. His intentions with the merchants mostly to get to know what they are trading for and offering assistance in directing them to whom they should speak to in order to make a sell; using his merchant background to make them feel welcomed in the trading post, hopefully convincing them to come again in the future.
[[OOC: Not sure if a roll is in order for such action.

DM Kathy Monday May 13th, 2013 10:51:00 PM Faust turns his attention to the merchants. They seem especially interested to hear about Bast the brewer, and soon depart to take a look at the brewery.
Meanwhile Ragnarök wonders what the newcomer will bring to town. Yngvar speaks to him directly.
"Something brought me here," he repeats. "Yeah, that's true enough. Something brought me here, and that's you. And your friends. Want to talk to you." He glances around. "Not here. Behind the stables. One hour."
With that, he departs.

Minotaurs may not be one of the noble races. They are called ignoble after all. But there is a racial trait that is amply known: their almost illogical (for others) concept of honor. And this... Tunks just insulted Asteron's honor.
"YOU WANT ME TO STAIN MY HONOR WITH MERE MONEY?" The minotaur bellows at the top of his lungs, not minding who is listening. "THAT IS AN INSULT I WILL NOT LET PASS, FOOLISH MAN!" His companions have never seen Asteron this angry. It is not the madness of the Rage. This is another thing entirely: this is the anger at an offense against what the Taur holds most dear: his honor.
Firmly grasping the blade of his hilt, but barely holding himself from attacking, Asteron spits out a somber word of challenge: "KAYLEB!"

DM Kathy Tuesday May 21st, 2013 11:13:15 PM Faust soon joins Ragnarök and Tunks at the inn, with assurances that the rest of the group won't be far behind.
Asteron and Toregan start with an archery contest, which doesn't quite go as they would have liked; Asteron wins. If Toregan has to face consequences for his loss in kayleb, they are not immediately obvious.
The footrace, however, yields better results. Nimble Toregan easily outruns his minotaur friend and is thus able to "order" him to accept Tunks's offer.
At the inn, Ragnarök asks about the contract and Boss Wathe. "Well," says Tunks, "Boss Wathe is the power in Town, no question. He comes from the Float, originally. Wanted to make a new start out here. As for the contract, I'm not sure, but I think it's much the same as what you do here. Keep an eye out for trouble, and deal with it as it comes up. I'm sure Boss Wathe will have more to say, though."
He grins, "Oh, and you can help me arrange for a parting gift for the Trading Post. But we'll go into that tomorrow."

I had to convice our minotaur friend to give this deal a chance. I'm willing to see what this Boss Waithe has to say, and then I'll make a decision.
DM Kathy Wednesday May 22nd, 2013 10:53:39 PM Faust wonders about the nature of the "parting gift," and Ragnarök says he won't go along with it.
"Well, that's the thing," says Tunks. "We've all got contracts. Me, I'm supposed to come extend you this offer, which I done, and on the way back I'm supposed to set off this little surprise. It's been arranged, the surprise, so it won't take me too long, then we can be on our way to Town. But I gotta do it--orders."
Asteron and Toregan join the group in the Inn. "Glad you all decided to join up," Tunks says. "Town--that's the future of this region. This trading post won't amount to nothin'."

"By the by...I've been wondering this for some time now, but does this...'Town' have a name?"
"The outpost can be just 'The Outpost', but a town's gotta have a name..."
DM Kathy Friday May 24th, 2013 12:44:08 AM Yngvar takes a moment to alert Pen. The gnome looks surprised. "Play along?" he repeats. "Why? What's he playing? What did he tell you?" You (presumably) fill him in, and he warns you to be careful. "We're short-handed as it is," he reminds you, "with the work crew gone off to station 10. Don't be away too long."
Asteron, looking sheepish, does his best bodyguard impersonation.
Ragnarök still doesn't like the sound of this parting gift. "Yeah, Boss Wathe gave me the orders," Tunks says. "And Boss Wathe has plans for Town, and they don't include losing a bunch of trade to some second-rate trading post. Town's gonna be the place to go in these parts--you'll see."
Faust is curious about whether this Town has a name, but it doesn't seem to. At least, not yet.
The remainder of the day is uneventful, and Tunks leaves, as promised, at first light. Presumably, you all join him.

Faust takes point to prepare the Message spell for the day and tries to catch the party, at the very least some members, before they're all gathered to leave with Tunks, making sure absolutely no one is hearing them.
"Ok...I don't like one bit the sound of this 'gift', and the outpost needs to know what in the name of Ffloy is it."
"So...I'll be casting Message between us so we can whisper and communicate with each other...but the spell will last us a bit over half an hour...within that time we need Tunks to spill the beans. I'll also include Mr. Pen in the casting...hopefully we won't be too far for the spell effect...", he looks worried as he scribes a few calculations over guessed distances and how much the spell should last for.
He lets out a deep sight, "Right....worst comes to worst...I'll have to stay behind and act like a messaging hub, effectively doubling our conversation range."
Faust will do as mentioned, casting it on the whole group (or whoever he could talk to).
Once they're about to leave, he'll say his last goodbyes to Pen (taking the opportunity to cast Message on him) and refresh the casting on the group in the case Tunks says something like "I'll tell you on the road"

Faust casts a Message spell so he can communicate with the rest of his companions, and perhaps, with those left behind.
Ragnarök asks whether anyone has any illusion spells that would help the group swap the real Tunks for a fake one. He then asks Tunks whether he had planted his surprise.
"Nah, it ain't that kinda surprise," Tunks says. "It won't come from inside; it'll come from outside. I just have to go set it up, is all." He grins at you, shoulders his pack, and heads toward the gate.
You have been watching him pretty closely this morning, and it doesn't look as if he's left any surprises behind. It would seem that he is telling the truth; his "parting gift" will be arranged from outside the walls of the Trading Post. How far outside? You don't know. Will you have time to find out and stop it? You don't know. Will you have time to find out and get back to the Trading Post? You don't know.

Faust does his best to not look too concerned but agrees that following Tunks is their best bet, "I believe this 'surprise' will happen regardless of us being with him or not, ergo it's best to go with him and deal with it early on rather than stay behind and merely react to it."
if possible, he will also take the time to cast Message on Pen and tell him to be ready for any sort of outside attack on the outpost but that the group will try to cut anything that might happen short. All this under the premise of saying his goobyes.
DM Kathy Monday May 27th, 2013 11:32:24 PM
Tunks leaves the trading post, and you come with him. He leads the way to the lift, chatting now and then about Town. "Boss Wathe's got plans, yes he does," he says at one point. "He's even talking to a fellow about putting in a Catacombs entrance. Town'll be the biggest, best thing in these parts."
At the bottom of the lift he heads, not toward Town, but at a northward tangent. After about twenty minutes' walking, he stops. "Be real still," he says.
He pulls out some kind of carved wooden whistle and blows into it. The resulting tone is not especially loud, but it does seem to carry. Many minutes pass. Tunks blows the whistle again.
A short time later, you hear a rustling in the bushes, and four kobolds appear. You recognize them immediately as members of the fierce Ss'Hathk tribe.
Tunks produces a medium-sized cloth bag, and hands it over. It doesn't clink or jingle, so you don't think it contains coins, but you're not sure what's in it. One of the kobolds opens it up, looks into it, sniffs briefly. He looks up at Tunks, showing teeth.
"Do it now," Tunks says. "Like Boss says, yes?"
"Yesss," says the kobold with the bag. "We go now. Kill humansss. Get more ss'kkaakkh."
"Ss'kkakkh comes from Boss," Tunks says. "You remember that. You want more ss'kkaakkh, you do what Boss says."
"Yessss," says the kobold again. They melt away into the bushes.

Then another cut trashes his alreadu mutilated body...
"RUN TO POST AND FIGHT ANOTHER DAY!!!" Rag shout a split second before the fatal blow strikes... A deep gash rips open his throat. The monk's eyes grow wide as he feels life escaping from him...
Ragnarok silently sinks to his knees and continues to bleeding... (Rag's at -4)
But then the little ring the Monk once obtained from gambling game of 'LnB Lotto' prooves to be most valuable after all... The ring automatically casts a Stabilize spell over the dying Monk. His wounds stop bleeding bringing a state of serenity over him...

With mage armor now glowing faintly (noted in first post), Yngvar focuses on the largest threat, even as Rag goes down.
Dipping his fingers into his pouch he quickly locates the adder's stomach wrapped in a rhubarb leaf. Whispering a few words to pull in energy, the small ball flares into a greenish arrow of acid that darts forth into Tunk's chest.
ranged touch for acid arrow, hit AC 21 for 6 acid damage, and more damage next round.

Asteron is hurt, and not lightly. One or two more hits, especially if they come from Tunks, and he is done. So, muttering a quick prayer to Imod, he changes target and swings at the man, this time becoming blind with rage. He draws even more rage from years of being mistreated, misunderstood, and looked down upon, and hacks at his closest enemy, lost now to the red rage. The only thing that comes out of his muzzle is a guttural yell that his companions understand, but the kobolds might not: "Healing!"

Faust grinds his teeth as he sees the spell was pretty much useless in the end...
He adjusts himself so he can see Tunks, sighs, makes some chants and draws the fire symbol with his finger, ending by pointing at Tunks, "If he doesn't fall with this one...we better make a run for it least we want to perish...", he says, before shooting a ray of fire against Tunks, in the hopes of making the man fall...
Moving to H9 or H8 if needed to have line of sight with Tunks.
Casting Scortching Ray against him, hitting a touch AC 21 for 16 fire damage; also, not sure if he'd take the 2d4 damage for flaming web as he was not entangled, but in case he does, the roll was 6.

Toregan sees Rag fall before Tunks, and quickly goes after Rags unconscious form. "Damn it! Hold on!" He goes over to him, drops his bow, and quickly goes though his pack to pull out a potion, and then pours it down his throat.
He then faces Tunks and draws his blades. "You will pay the price for your actions Tunks. And you will pay for them today!"

As he goes down, Ragnarök calls for his companions to retreat.
Yngvar fires an Acid Arrow at Tunks. It hits, and the telltale sizzle shows that it is doing damage.
With a heroic effort, Asteron manages to hit the big man not once, but twice.
Faust follows up with a Scorching Ray, which hits and does more damage. [The description for Scorching Ray doesn't say it can set things on fire--unlike, say, a Fireball. The web is not on fire.]
Toregan steps up to Ragnarök's side and withdraws a potion. It is a full-round action to administer a potion to an unconscious person, so even with the Hero Point, Toregan will not be able to switch weapons.
Also, the action of feeding the potion provokes an attack of opportunity from kobold 3. Toregan takes 5 points of damage.
The good news is that Ragnarök heals 1d8+1. DMs are not allowed to roll for players, so one of you guys will need to roll that.
Tunks is bleeding heavily, but he isn't quite unconscious. He seems content to let his allies handle this for now, and he withdraws deeper into the Web. [He uses the Withdrawal action, which does not provoke an Attack of Opportunity.]
Kobolds 1 and 2 continue attacking Asteron. Both hit, and Asteron takes a total of 16 damage.
Kobold 3 attacks Toregan and hits for 6 damage.
Kobold 4, the shaman, casts a spell. Nothing seems to happen as a result. Spellcraft DC 16 Highlight to display spoiler: {Bless}.

That's assuming you can withdraw through difficult terrain that he still needs to make a CMB or escape artist check - as my understanding of web, that having succeeded his first check, he is not caught, but moving through generates another check.
The acid Yngvar fired at Tunks continues to sizzle through his flesh, causing another 6 pts of acid damage.
Taking a step down (H8) to address the two kobolds (k3,4), Yngvar again dips his hand into his pouch and this time pulls out a small eggshell that he crushes in his hand, releasing the colored sand within. Throwing his hand up, the sand disperses into the air Taste the rainbow!. The sand flashes with energy as it flares before the kobolds.
Color Spray, 15' cone, areas E7-9, F7-9, and G8; will save DC 16, various effects based on HD.

Asteron dares to have a glimmer of hope. We may, just may, live to fight another day. Combat is still young, and none of their enemies has been brought down yet, but at least Ragnarök is up and defending himself. That makes the taur smile with relief. Imod, do not forsake us now.
A thought tugs at the back of the minotaur's mind, and he thanks his god, certain that it came from him. He calls forth the magic of the K'tthhykk Kobold Necklace first, knowing that if he goes down, his friends have little chance of survival. He then quickly surveys the battlefield, trying to locate any enemies heretofore unknown to the party. it would just not do to be stabbed in the back by a kobold thief hiding nearby.
Then he calls upon his diminishing reserves of energy, and swings his blade at the kobold he has wounded before. - - - - - OOC: Standard action - cast cure serious wounds from bead of healing [3d8+3]: 14hp healed Perception [d20+6]: 10 HERO POINT SPENT Attack [d20+10]: 16 Damage [3d6+7]: 19

Asteron is getting frustrated. This combat is not going the party's way, not by a long shot. At least, if we fall, we will fall doing our duty. No one will be able to take that from us He smiles grimly as one of the kobolds hits him.
Focusing on the combat at hand, he swings at the wounded kobold in front of him, trying to get rid of the walking lizard as quickly as possible. Then, again drawing on his almost exhausted reserve of energy, swings on the back slash, hoping to carry the fight by sheer force of will. You are bloodied but determined! You are not going down without a fight!
Asteron aims a blow at kobold 1, but misses. Once again, he digs deep for the last reserves of his energy to strike another blow. This one hits! Down goes kobold 1!
Yngvar calls for somebody to set the Web afire. He casts and Acid Arrow, which hits and does damage.
Ragnarök steps carefully around to face his opponent, only to find that Asteron had already dropped him. But a single step brings another opponent in range of Rag's fists, and he punches kobold 2 in the stomach.
Toregan takes advantage of the stunned shaman, sneak-attacking in fine rogue-y fashion.
Faust fires a Scorching Ray, but misses his target. [OOC: Dismissing a spell is a standard action. I know--total rip-off. Since you didn't get a post in on Friday, I'm going to say that you dismissed the Web at the very end of the last round, and were still able to get off your Scorching Ray this round. Go ahead and mark off your Hero Point, but the ray still misses.]
The bad news is that Tunks seems to be feeling a bit better. He moves up to flank Toregan with kobold 3, and strikes out with his rapier. Tunks seems to know just where to sink the blade to do the most damage; Toregan takes 19 damage plus 4 cold damage.
Kobold 2 continues attacking Asteron, and hits for 8 damage.
Kobold 3 turns his attention to Faust, but he misses with a natural 1.

Asteron knows that if it wasn't for the rage, he would be down. Still, he's not one to go quietly into the night, so he bellows a challenge, a death threat even, before he attacks Tunks from the side with his large two handed sword.
Not content with this, he tries to rip the kobold next to him with an attack of his horns. Even though he has not much hope, who knows? He might graze the reptilian.
Now it comes to decision time. Should he spend his remaining energy on the attack, or in defense? His gut tells him to attack, and he follows his instinct, attacking Tunks once again with his enormous blade, knowing that it might be the last thing he ever does.

"I need that wand...", he mumbles.
Walking to I7 (it's my understanding the blind Kobold can't AoO as I have total concealment from his point of view.

Asteron sees his friends fall, and smiles grimly. This dance is about over. Still, I have a few steps I can show that... Tunks
The minotaur yells at the top of his lungs, not only to appear more menacing to the kobolds, but also so the wounds that will end his life hurt less. He then gives Tunks everything he's got left. - - - - - OOC:
5-foot step to H/I-6/7 and full attack on Tunks
Attack [d20+10]: 14 Damage [3d6+7]: 17
Attack [d20+5]: 6 Damage [d8+8]: 15
Two natural one and, of course, no critical threats... to be expected, I guess :/

Unafraid of a blinded opponent, Faust strides across the battlefield, and looses a round of Magic Missiles at Tunks.
Asteron would like to re-position, but finds Faust already occupying square I-7, so he stays where he is. He unleashes a full attack on Tunks, but Wardd is not smiling on him and he misses both times.
Tunks moves to stand over Yngvar's unconscious body, and unleashes a full attack on Faust. His first attack hits for 8 damage; his second crits for a devastating 22, and Faust goes down.
Kobold 2 attacks Asteron, hitting for 7 more damage--and Asteron falls.
