testing testing...
Bliss (Cayzle) Sunday July 21st, 2013 9:13:45 AM
This post was originally made June 19, 2013 on the LnB Board. The amazing die rolls from that post were d20+7=19 ; d20+7=20 ; d20+7=26 ; d20+7=26 ; d20+7=26 ; d20+7=26 ; d20+7=22 ; d20+7=25.
My new character, Bliss, is a sharpshooter in the upcoming Agents of the Fist game.
He is making his own slingshot (a reskinned Core sling) and his own light crossbow (which he calls a "bah").
The sling has a zero cost, so per the rules, there is no cost to make it, and therefore it can be made in no time. I'm not going to roll to make a slingshot.
The crossbow costs 35 gp. Bliss has masterwork tools, a +1 Int, a single rank, and a +3 class bonus, so he can roll craft checks at +7. The cost in materials is 12 gp. The DC is 15. On a roll of 10 or less, 6 gp of materials are wasted.
Week One: Roll 19. Work accomplished = 19*15= 285/350th of the job Week Two: Roll 20. Work accomplished = 20*15= 300/350th of the job, JOB COMPLETE!
Huh! That was not so hard! Encouraged by his success, Bliss decides to try making a Masterwork Slingshot. The Material Cost is 100 gp and the DC is 20. On a roll of 15 or less, he loses 50 gp.
Week One: Roll 26! Sweet! He finishes 26*20= 520/3000th of the job Week Two: Roll 26! Wow! He finishes another 26*20= 520/3000th of the job. More than a third done! Week Three: Roll 26! Huh! Is this die roller busted? That's another 520/3000th of the job.
After three weeks, Bliss has finished 1560/3000th of the job!
Week Four: Roll 26. No, seriously? How is this possible? Week Five: Roll 22. Okay, at least it is not a 26, but it is another week of good progress! Just one more week to go! Week Six: Roll 25! Well, this has gotta be the most amazing run of luck on the die roller in a loooong time!
Bliss imagines that his work is blessed indeed! Maybe by Gargul, his god. Six straight weeks of the best crafting of his life. Bliss has no stumbles, no setbacks, no wasted material, and at the end of his six weeks, he has a Masterwork Slingshot! It costs him 100 gp.
Bliss (Cayzle) d20+7=16 ; d20+7=23 ; d20+7=13 ; d20+7=12 ; d20+7=24 ; d20+7=20 ; d20+7=26 ; d20+7=19 ; d20+7=22 ; d20+7=20 ; Sunday July 21st, 2013 9:44:56 AM
So heartened is he by his amazing success, that Bliss decides to start his masterpiece, a weapon he hopes to have with him for his entire career. It is a heavy repeating crossbow, or as he calls it, his "semi-automatic bah."
he has to make it in two stages. First, the basic underlying structure, then second, the fine tuning that will make it masterwork. he probably won't even get to the fine tuning yet, unless his luck holds out!
The basic structure costs 400 gp to buy, and materials to craft it will cost at least 133 gp. Bliss has masterwork tools, a +1 Int, a single rank, and a +3 class bonus, so he can roll craft checks at +7. The DC is 15. On a roll of 10 or less, 44 gp of materials are wasted.
Week One: Roll 16! A point above success is success! He finishes 16*15= 240/4,000th of the job Week Two: Roll 23! Going strong! He finishes another 23*15= 345/4,000th of the job. Week Three: Roll 13! No progress, but he does not waste any gold. Week Four: Roll 12! Still no progress, no gold wasted! Week Five: Roll 24! Back on track! He finishes 24*15= 360/4,000th of the job. Week Six: Roll 20! Going good! He finishes 20*15= 300/4,000th of the job.
After 6 weeks, Bliss has finished 240+345+360+300 = 1,245/4,000th of the job; more than a quarter done!
Week Seven: Roll 26! Another 26*15= 390/4,000th done. Week Eight: Roll 19! Another 19*15= 285/4,000th done. Week Nine: Roll 22! Another 22*15= 330/4,000th done. Week Ten: Roll 20! Another 20*15= 300/4,000th done. Just about halfway done!
Wowsy (an expression Bliss learned from Mookie, who learned it from Vauhwyt), this is tedious. I gotta take a break from pressing the Roll button to do some chores. I'll continue crafting later!
Bliss (Cayzle) d20+7=27 ; d20+7=11 ; d20+7=8 ; d20+7=10 ; Sunday July 21st, 2013 10:27:58 AM
More Crafting!
Week 11: Roll 27! Another 27*15= 405/4,000th done. Week 12: Roll 11! No progress, but he does not waste any gold. Week 13: Roll 8! No progress, AND 44 gp wasted! Total costs rise to 133+44=177 of 225 available. Bliss can only afford one more failure like this and he runs out of cash and has to put the rest of his crafting on hold. Week 14: Roll 10! Two bad weeks in a row! Another 44 go wasted. That's a sign, and so is Bliss' empty pockets ... so it is time to stop! Bliss has spent 221 gp on his semi-automatic bah, he has completed 2,952 / 4,000th of the non-masterwork component of his weapon.

It might be good to have a link on the games board too, though we all know where the game is from email.

I'm not taking mine. My Bliss is still dead in the Realm of Shadows right "now"!

Jay, what I am saying to do is create another google doc with all the stuff you just listed in spoiler and link that to your page like this
That cuts down on the post being an entire page of blank spoiler space and increases the readability of the page. For instance, Brahmah doesn't need to actually read all of Malgant's spells and buffs, so putting them on the page spoiler or not just makes Malgant's post look that much bigger and more complicated and therefore easier to just ignore entirely if you are rushed. See what I mean? And if you look at the link I posted above, it has the hypertext that takes you there printed right on the bottom of the page. Once you know it works it will always work as long as you don't mess with it so just add or subtract spells or conditions, copy/paste and boom an updated link that gives the DM and anyone that wants to read it a full look at what you have going on. That link is really important though. As you might have figured out by my multiple tries to get my header to work above, I am not good at this so having a static reliable copy/paste link right on the page was very important to me.

Also your skills look fine to me. Did you fix them already? If not what was the problem?
Ac 17,Touch 11,Flat 15, (CMB 6 CMD 18) HP 17/17 Atticus Leafwinder Thursday August 1st, 2013 9:00:47 AM
Atticus won't have the defensive qualities of Malgant. He is focused on making sure opponents are dead and therefore unable to cause the group harm. With that said I will probably never hit because I actually have good to hit bonuses at 1st level.

The favored class stuff I had spread out over hit points and skills like an idiot, then I reread the section. I chose hit points.
I'm a complete nimrod when it comes to linking things to the boards. I've had a huge number of broken links in the past and I just afraid that it'll happen at the wrong time and that several of you won't be able to see it.
That being said, you are right. It will cut reading in half, and if we start out this game with spell lists/item lists/etc in links, it will help to cut frustrations at later levels. Then again, we'll have players writing novels and bards and stoner clerics being long-winded or paladins being high and mighty in long speeches....
