A Meeting of Old Friends

Hello Again - DM Donna
Thursday September 12th, 2013 10:13:17 AM

Once most of the party decides that Zeoll's idea is a good one to be enacted, Linos courteously escorts you to the huge whishtal tree that houses the Temple of Domi in Fort Stag. The spear-bearing guards in front call out their challenge and the young centaur with you replies that you are all here to seek the wisdom of the temple. The entire party is allowed to pass into the grand reception room.

A young filly with white flanks and silver-blonde hair greets you politely, although it is clear that she is very curious about the presence of Coer. (Not rude...but you can tell that she is definitely not used to the presence of a minotaur within the Clearspring Temple.)

"How may I help you today...?" she asks, looking from face to face with languid blue eyes.

Kane', not used to seeing anything taller than the mast of a ship, stands in awe of the immense Whistal Trees. The trees, the serious decorum of the centaurs, and the very real feeling that they are NOT welcome all make the half-elf very quiet. He keeps close to Zeoll and tries to blend into the liontaur's shadow.

Zeoll (Cayzle)  d20+10=18 ;
Thursday September 12th, 2013 10:48:38 AM

Zeoll puts his silver tongue to use at the temple -- but also fighting back his feelings of nostalgia and guilt at seeing again the temple of Domi. He does his best not to let those feelings show -- but his tail swishes revealingly nonetheless.

"My dearr," he says, "My frriends and I arre adventurerrs seeking wisdom and guidance. I would especially like to rrequest a meeting with the rreverred Hollyhocks, who may rrememberr meeting me in years gone by."

"I am Zeoll, who was once Chosen of Domi, and with the grrace of the gods, that name will be familiarr to the holy centaurr."

Diplomacy 18

Zee-who? - DM Donna
Thursday September 12th, 2013 6:12:08 PM

DM OOC: just putting in some transitional dialog for you players here...

"I'll be at the Mothering Mare when you're done here," Linos tells the Lionfish crew, then is away like a flash with a clatter of hooves. The young adept's eyes widen--she'd been so curious about Coer that she hadn't even noticed the presence of the Wemic until he spoke!

"The...Chosen of Domi...?" she echoes, looking positively stunned. She stares for a moment then shakes her head to jolt herself out of her extremely surprised stupor.

"Please...follow me..." the filly bids you all, then turns and leads the way further into the huge spaces within the ancient tree. It is a path that Zeoll knows well (for all that he had passed this way years ago)--it leads into a chamber whose size and shape instantly remind all who enter of how a little carver-beetle must feel after boring into the interior of a large pumpkin!

The chamber is a good 75 feet around--laterally as well as vertically! The vast room has bas-relief scenes of Domi's greatest battles and those struggles of the various heroes who've been recorded in legend as being Domi's chosen. The three-dimensional tableaus almost pulse with a life of their own, the shadings of the wood are just SO realistic.

Opposite the archway through which you've entered is a dais topped by a thick, curved bower of ivy and trailing flowers.

"Father Hollyhocks," the filly calls out, "Please pardon this interruption of your meditation--but there are some people here to see you...among them a Minotaur, as well as a Liontaur who says his name is--"

"Zeoll..."

The voice rumbles forth from shadowed area on the far side of the bower. A large centaur with a gray hide and black hair and tail moves into sight under the bedecked trellis. The beard on his broad face is black with telltale threads of silver that are also sprinkled throughout the shoulder-length raven mane on his head. There are crow's-feet wrinkles at the corner of dark eyes that assess each of the members of the Lionfish crew who are present, and there is a gnarled ironwood staff clasped in his right hand, but he is otherwise exactly as Zeoll remembers him: Hollyhocks, druid dedicated to spreading the word of Domi.

"What brings you back to the Clearspring Temple, my friend?" he asks.

Zeoll (Cayzle)
Thursday September 12th, 2013 7:28:37 PM

Zeoll struggles hard not to blush at this reception. He wishes his old captain, Brahmah, were here to see this.

When he sees Hollyhocks, all that fades away in honest gladness to see the old druid, after all this time.

"The yearrs arre kinderr to centaurrs than to liontaurrs, I think," he says with a grin, "But it is so good to see you again, Fatherr."

"My frriends and I arre herre looking forr advice rregarrding a villain we have trracked to your shorre. But please, wherre arre my mannerrs?"

Zeoll grabs each of his friends in turn and leads them forward. "Intrroduce yourrselves to this noble drruid and prriest of Domi, please."

OOC: No need for me to have the loudest mouth! Please, friends, say hi and tell the good druid why we are here.

Coer, feeling emboldened by Zeolls advice the druid is friendly, and his lack of speech all day pipes up.

"I am Coerator, Captain of the Lionfish. My crew and I are seeking a Villain it is true. any advice you have would aid us greatly."

He rises to hiss full height and extends his hand in friendship.

Kiril bows low to the old centaur with a flourish of his hat, "I am Kiril Chantel, Father Hollyhocks. It's an honor to meet you."

Once his hat his replaced he gives a nod towards Coer and Zeoll, "As they said, we come seeking advice and wisdom in our hunt for a villain. He has fled justice at Bonetown to come here and last was seen heading into the wilderness in search of herbs called (whatevertheywerecalled)... do you know what use a pirate captain and slaver might have of those?"

Shemeska stays toward the rear of the group, keeping a wary eye for any signs of danger. He does, however, raise a hand in greeting. "I am Shemeska. A sort of libertine scoundrel, if you will. I joined this crew after accidentally killing one of them. True story."

Kane' sputters in admiring the hubris of Shemseka, but it seems he and Spire have come to some sort of understanding. To the elder and noble centaur, the half-elf ducks out form around Zeoll.

"Kah-nay Ma'Kai", he mumbles while ducking his head. On Coer's words, Kane' again produces the wanted poster of Captain Annoir and presents it to Father Hollyhock.

Public Relations - DM Donna
Friday September 13th, 2013 2:00:14 PM

The centaur druid's lips twitch at Zeoll's words.

"You are still possessed of the silver tongue, I see," Hollyhocks replies, a bit of a twinkle in his eyes. He then turns to face Coer squarely, visually assessing the minotaur for a few moments before reaching out and answering Coer's outstretched hand with a very firm grasp of his own.

"B'Imod annar, Coerator," the gray-flanked equinoid greets the minotaur in his own language. For those who understand the Minotaur language (and Zeoll, as he's heard this greeting between minotaurs before and has--by now--had its meaning explained to him, I'm sure), Highlight to display spoiler: { the druid has just said "by the honor of Imod", which is a formal greeting denoting respect towards whomever the phrase is spoken.}

"Kiril Chantel," Hollyhocks says, nodding to the human, "You speak of the alamine root, a native weed that can be pernicious to the whishtal trees and yet beneficial to most humanoid digestive systems." Shemeska's introduction halts anything else the druid would have added, and Spire adds his own bit of information. Once again, a slightly amused smile crosses the centaur's broad face.

"And welcome to you, too, Kane'," Hollyhocks acknowledges the shyest member of the group before expanding his address to include everyone. "Welcome, all of you, to Centaur Isle as well as the Clearspring Temple. Now...you speak of hunting Annoir, who is, indeed, fairly well-known in Fort Stag." He strokes his beard thoughtfully.

"Captain Annoir comes to the isle at least twice a year," the druid tells you, "He has done so for almost a decade or so now. He is very well-regarded because his harvesting of the alamine root has helped large swathes of the wild whishtal that is farther away from Fort Stag. Such areas of the forest are not as frequently tended by our people, so any help in curbing that weed is quite welcome, indeed." Once more the centaur pauses.

"Stallion Pholus has come to admire and trust Annoir completely," Hollyhocks reports, "Although I, myself, have reservations about the man. Oh, it's nothing I can put my hoof on, precisely--it's just I get a feeling that Annoir isn't being completely honest when I speak to him, so your news that he has skirted the laws of your land don't come as a true surprise to me. However, he has never done anything unlawful whilst he was on Centaur Isle." The male shrugs.

"Not that anyone here knows about, that is..."

Kane' listens carefully and tugs on Zeoll's flank. "Maybe all is not as it seems as he harvests the alamine root. As Father Hollyhocks has said, there are few centaurs in the area he goes. And we have often seen his apparent benevolence masks his more illegal activities."

He also frowns, knowing that if Stallion Pholus is a 'good friend' of Captain Annoir, getting any permission to do anything in Fort Stag will be... unusual. "Shemeka Sir, knowing the situation, I feel it is highly dangerous to try anything in Fort Stag or the harbor."

ooc: Many apologies for my tardiness. I had a 24-hour bug and my stomach has finally decided to calm down and give me a break.

Shemeska shrugs. "I don't see how it has changed that much. A good plan always accommodates change. If Annoir is aboard when we sever his anchor and tow his ship, then all is well and done. If he is not, then we must act with great haste. The Iron Hull must be towed around the island and beached on a sandbar or coral reef. Subdue the crew, put out all lights. Then we sail back into the harbor and dock our ship as before. We go ashore and start spreading rumors that his crew was mutinous and decided to take the ship while their captain was away. When Annoir comes to the docks to investigate, that is when we strike."

He rubs his chin in thought. "We simply need a way to make certain that Pholus does not accompany Annoir when he comes to the docks to investigate. What could keep him occupied long enough to make certain Annoir comes without him in tow?"

"It is not for me to usurp the duty of justice from Stallion Pholus, Jozhur Derile," the centaur replies to Johzur's hinting. "He is a very proud centaur, and is quite serious in performing what he perceives to be his duties as Stallion." Hollyhock's dark gaze pins Kane' for a moment.

"You show much wisdom for one so young," he addresses the Blood Witch, "But the facts are that Annoir has shown us here on Centaur Isle nothing but good will, so there are few who would heed your opinion about his motives." Then the druid looks at Kiril.

"The best to my knowledge, Koril," Hollyhock's words obliquely point out the faux-pas of mispronouncing the Head of the Temple's name to Kiril, "Annoir goes to the same general area of the whistal forest outside the boundaries of Fort Stag...but there are none here that have actually gone seeking Annoir while he harvests, so I cannot say for sure where he'd be. Your best bet would be to utilize the services of a ranger or a tracker to continue your hunt--again...assuming that Stallion Pholus has come to his senses enough to at least allow you to go look for Annoir..."

Kane' is glad the holy centaur only addresses him for a short time before looking at Kiril, the half-elf does NOT like being the center of attention! His mind is a-whirl trying to think of a way to find evidence against Annoir that the Centaurs would abhor without getting into so much trouble that the entire group is imprisoned by Fort Stag.

He can't think of anything.

DM Donna OOC: was Kane' injured, or is the heading in this post from a past battle?

SteveK OOC: Kane' is at 47 hit points with a maximum possible of 40 HP. This is because he has 7 temporary hit points from participating in the Blackbird Lake Hero Retirement Party in the Giggling Ghost (awarded by Jerry until the next battle.)

Father Hollyhocks - DM Donna
Monday September 16th, 2013 1:56:19 PM

"Perhaps I have given you the wrong impression," the centaur druid says thoughtfully. "Stallion Pholus is friendly with Annoir and admires the man for his help in keeping the sacred whishtal trees free from a parasitic weed that plagues their growth...however, the Stallion would never knowingly turn a blind eye to the pursuit of valid justice. If you have already informed Pholus that you have a legitimate grievance against Annoir, then he will wish to consult with the other members of the Corral in order to agree upon the parameters of your search for the captain. He is not the type to allow his personal feelings to stand in the way of justice. I strongly urge that you await the outcome of the Corral's decision before trying to...ahem...tour our sacred forest, so to speak..." Hollyhock's left forehoof paws the ground.

"You may also benefit from asking after Captain Annoir--questioning non-centaurs about him," the druid advises. "I have no doubt that at least some of your fellow mariners at the docks may have more up-to-date information about him."

"Are there any other... non-centaurs on the island? Natives, that is to say." Spire thinks that someone who lives on the island (without the prejudice towards their minotaur ally) might be their best bet for information on Annoir.

DM Donna: most of the non-centaurs of the island favor the Happy Hippocampus tavern by the docks...

As soon as the party is out of ear-shot, Shemeska speaks up. "I say we cut the anchor and summon a few aquatic animals to push the Iron Hull laterally across the harbor. A good amount of movement, but neither closer nor further from the docks and harbor mouth. Someone goes ashore and starts talking it up in taverns, especially if we spot any Iron Hull crew. Laugh about how it looks like their anchor is loose and they are drifting aimlessly. Someone goes and tells Annoir that his ship is drifting in the harbor. He comes to investigate. We intercept him as he is traveling from the docks to the ship in the longboat. Additional summoned creatures keep the Iron Hull from coming to the rescue, and the Lionfish swoops in to pick him up. From a distance, it will look like his longboat floundered in the water and we are picking him up to save him."

He sniffs in frustration. "But if you want to investigate first, then please hurry. I do not wish our preparation to be in vain."

Taverns and Planning - DM RobC

The centaur druid says his goodbyes to the group, smiling to Zeoll as he departs.

The party seem to have two taverns to choose between at least.

The Happy Hippocampus sounds as if it may be a good place to look for non-centaur sailors. A strong possibility of finding something about Annoir or the Iron Hull, though potentially either giving away the presence of the party or their investigations.

The Mothering Mare on the other hand may be a place to lay low and await Stallion Pholus. Perhaps he will give the party permission to investigate Annoir. Then again, perhaps he won't. What then?

The palamino bartender seems to have his hands full now that it has started to get dark outside. The other centaurs have finished their days labours and have come to unwind - and to unwind, they drink.

Several large tables are occupied purely by centaurs who are already quite boisterous. A centaur at one particular table makes 'moo-ing' noises on seeing Coer walk in, much to the delight of his friends. They appear to chug wine the way a dwarf would ale.

At other tables sit the other intermingled races of the Wold. Humanoids of various forms, though most are human or elf. By appearances they look like merchants and sailors - though it is difficult to think any non-centaur in this port being anything else.

Though less rowdy than the taurs, a few are certainly adding to the noise level. One table has some sort of dice game going, with stacks of copper pieces rapidly changing hands. Another table has broken into a lively song - from what you can gather, the gist being something about a man with three wives.

Jozhur and Kiril make their way to the table of gamblers. Kiril brings a pitcher of wine with him, which is quickly shared between the patrons. The sailors look to each other with blank faces and shoulder shrugs. When the topic turns to the Stallion however, one sailor leans in and offers his perspective "If you ask me, the centaurs here don't really fear the guards. They all grew up together and know each other by name. The ones they're afraid of ticking off are the Stallions. They're the ones who keeps things in line and really keeps the peace here. Stallion Pholus, well, never heard a bad word said about him. He has the same dislike of the other taur races that any centaur has, but he doesn't let that cloud his judgement I'm told."

Shemeska finds a wall to lean against and watch the goings-on. Best guess is that Pholus should be getting back to the party in eight hours in the earliest.

Jozhur tries explaining that Annoir had hired the party to do some work and they were trying to collect. "Don't give me that! I know hired muscle when I sees it. He sent you to try and bully me. Shemeska looks about for a lass to woo. Unlike many of the taverns he has visited in the past, this one seems void of women altogether. Only males are present here. Today just isn't his day. So far he has been denied his chance to claim a ship, and now his chance to claim a woman.

Spire stands by the bar keeping an eye on the place. The centaurs continue their drinking but keep to themselves. The occaisionally glance at Zeoll and Coer, but so far have made no attempt to further provoke them.

Coer happily engages in a game of dice. He has his turn and then watches as the old gambler plays. The dice just do not go Coer's way though, and the gambler manages to beat him quite easily requiring only half as many rolls. The man smiles politely as he scoops away his winnings. "Oh, that was a close one. Wanna go again?"

Kane and Zeoll stand together by the bar keeping a watch on things. Zeoll ONLYHighlight to display spoiler: {Kane gives you a nudge and you take notice of the gambling that Coer is engaging in with the old man. Jozhur tries to pry some more information from the man. "I like you kid, but seems I have something you want, and that'll cost you" The man edges his tin cup closer to Jozhur, motioning for some coin to help 'refresh' his memory. (OOC: In the interests of moving things along, I'll assume that either Jozhur or Coer are happy to put a silver or two into the cup - maybe even a gold piece if you are feeling generous)

The man smiles and helps himself to more of the whiskey that Coer has provided "Was only a few days ago now. The fellow, Annoir you called him, comes into the bar here. He sits down and we play a few games of dice. I was having a particularly good run of luck that day too" He chuckles to himself as he recalls it "We was playing for silvers, then out of the blue he smiles and says he wants to wager ships. His for mine. Says he has a frigate in the harbor and was looking for something faster. I happened to have a sailing ship, and I knows a bargain when I hears one so I agreed. Wouldn't you know it, I won and found meself captain of a nice big ship. Now, most folks would be angry or upset at losing such a wager, but that Annoir was the perfect gent. Perhaps I got a better deal out of this than I thought. I was thinking of changing the name of it, but if its famous and all perhaps it'd be worth more to leave it untouched"

The man seems uncomfortable with all the attention he is receiving as he starts to restlessly move in his chair. Jozhur is only able to pry a few more tidbits of information from him. He has no idea where Annoir is now, but his smaller and now faster ship (the Albatross) left port the same day Annoir won it

OOC: My apologies, me hearties--DM Rob has had extremely pressing Real Life matters draw him away and I wasn't able to log into my computer until recently. Let us now proceed with the adventure...

The Stallion of Fort Stag looks at Zeoll for a long moment. The centaur leader's face and body language are impossible for Zeoll to be absolutely sure, but it appears as though he is most likely neutral. His barrel chest rises and falls as he huffs once and then gives the party a brief nod.

"The Corral has deliberated," Pholus says without preamble, "And we have agreed that justice is a cause that we do not feel we can block, no matter how high the personal regard I and my colleagues have for Captain Annoir. While I still find it exceedingly hard to believe that Annoir has perpetrated any such crimes as you and your poster claim...the auguries from the might of Domi indicate that your mission be allowed to come to its lawful conclusion." The Stallion fixes a stern eye upon you all.

"You are henceforth given express permission to track down and apprehend Captain Annoir and any partners in...accused...crime that he may have. Once you apprehend these individuals, you will escort them back to Fort Stag so that our clerics at the Clearspring Temple may make an unbiased determination as to whether or not Captain Annoir is deserving of justice...or of mercy. Should the clerics' ceremony reveal that there is truth in what you say, you may take your fugitive...or fugitives...and take them to face the justice of your courts." His right forehoof paws at the ground, a gesture that Zeoll's experience tells him that Pholus is hard-put to believe that Annoir is less than honest--but the Stallion clearly holds his duty sacred.

"As I've been able to tell you so far," Pholus continues, "Annoir makes regular visits to the surrounding whishtal forest in order to harvest the weeds that threaten them. While I have never been told of any specific sites within that forest where you may find him, we do have a ranger of no small talent who can guide you and aid in tracking him down." He beckons to Linos, who trots forward.

"Linos is young," Pholus concedes, "But he knows the forest quite well...and he says that he believes that you are not the type who would knowingly lie for money. Now...do you have any last questions before you start on your mission..?"

Monday September 30th, 2013 10:12:42 AM

Kane' shakes his head, he has no questions for someone as important as Stallion Pholus. The witch wisely thinks that keeping the information about the Albatross a secret for a while would be a good thing, and they are being allowed to look for the area where Annoir has been cutting away the weeds of the Whistal Trees.

A suspicion starts to form in Kane' that Linos is more than he seems, and that may not be a good thing. Very convenient that the young centaur has been shadowing their every move. The half-elf stays close to Zeoll, keeping in the large wemic's shadow.

Zeoll (Cayzle)
Monday September 30th, 2013 11:23:22 AM

Zeoll cannot help but wince when Pholus mentions "the justice of your courts." The old liontaur expects that if the party brings Annoir back to Bonetown, a long walk off a short plank, so to speak, is all the trial he'll get.

But Zeoll bows low and simply offers his thanks to the Stallion for the consideration the party has been shown. "We arre grrateful forr the wisdom and indulgence of the Corral. Yourr decision is morre than fairr, and we stand in yourr debt. We will not betrray yourr trrust."

Like Kane, privately, he doubts that the party needs a tracker as much as the Corral needs the young centaur to chaperone the group. But that is fine, since we have nothing to hide.

When the party has left the Stallion, Zeoll comments, "If we arre to take Annoirr and his crrew alive, we need manacles and chains, I would say. I'll be helpful at making foes stop fighting forr a moment, and forr disarrming them. But we need weapons like saps and blunt arrows and things to capturre rratherr than to kill. Come, my frriends, let us go shopping."

[OOC: Kindly DM Donna, would you rather that we pool our pocket change and visit the Catacombs Board, assuming the entrance here to the Catacombs is open? Or should we visit local shops and vendors? Well, we need one good set of manacles and leg irons for Annoir, and rope for the rest, Zeoll suggests. He does not see any need to split the group to go shopping, though.

OOC ... we need ...

Masterwork manacles for wrists and ankles costs 50+50=100 gp
Each manacle needs a lock, and a good lock costs 80 gp, so 160 gp for two
A five ft length of chain costs 15 gp
Total bindings for Annoir = 275 gp!

(prices per the cor rules ... locally, who knows?)

Silk rope for the rest, 100 ft

And I think Coer has the cash on hand and has volunteered to buy it.

And Zeoll would like to buy one more tanglefoot bag, please.

Zeoll helps to bargain with shopkeepers: Diplomacy 29 woot!

Kane' winces at the price his friends are bandying about. A hand steals to his very, very empty pouch that contains only a few bits of silver and copper; not even a single gold piece!

The half-elf keeps quiet, nothing for him to contribute here. His life's possessions are all within arms reach of the Bloodwitch from the vanished tribe.

"Any henchman or cronies Annoir may have can be bound with rope. I would feel most comfortable if the good Captain himself were shackled. There's no telling what tricks that man may have up his sleeve." Spire refrains from going shopping, as he still has the slimy skin granted to him by the mysterious amulet.

Just One Thing Before You Go... - DM Donna
Tuesday October 1st, 2013 4:41:15 PM

"You must keep Centaur Law to heart when you go out into the sacred whistal forest," Pholus tells you. "This is another reason why Linos is going to be your guide--he is not only the best there is, but he will instruct you in the finer points of the Centaur Way, for you will be held accountable should you knowingly break our laws. This means you are to respect the Island - both its flora and fauna. Rampant destruction of either will not be tolerated. Go forth and capture your fugitives, but you cannot wantonly damage anything in the forest, or you will suffer the justice of Domi yourselves. You are dismissed."

The last part is said with implacable finality. Linos bows low and backs away, beckoning for your group to follow. Once you are in a place that is relatively private, the young centaur asks you if there is anything he can help you with. (Here is where the PCs may finalize their intentions in regards to what they want to make sure they have on hand to use when they catch up to Captain Annoir. You can also ask for more information about things from Linos, too.)

"Excuse me, ah, Linos, was it? What Centaur laws should we know of? Obviously, the flora and fauna must go untouched, but is there anything else we should know that we may come across? Manners of arresting a fugitive? Perhaps customs we must follow when entering the woods?"

Shemeska furrows his eyebrows as the word "dismissed" rolls off the centaur's tongue. When they have an opportunity to speak with Linos alone, he clears his throat. "I do happen to have a question, if you don't mind. How often will you need to check-in with your superiors? I'm guessing such an important area as this forest would necessitate periodic contact with their agent."

Linos - DM Donna
Wednesday October 2nd, 2013 1:12:21 PM

"The Stallion has already told you about the most important law that you needed to know about," the young centaur replied. "The surrounding whishtal forest is considered sacred ground. We revere the life that abounds within it...but it is still a forest filled with wildlife. We are forbidden to go hacking and slashing through the forest, but we are not forbidden to defend ourselves should the creatures of the forest attack us. I'm going with you because, as the Stallion says--I'm a very good scout and the most likely to be able to get you all from Fort Stag to wherever it is that Captain Annoir has set up as his camp without stirring up the local wildlife too much." Linos pondered a moment before going on:

"I haven't been given anything to 'check in' with the Stallion or any other authorities while we are out and about," he answers, "So I imagine that I am supposed to 'check in' after we get back from capturing your fugitive from justice."

As for the "other laws", Linos goes on to explain that there are three things that are held sacred on Centaur Isle: Domi, Blue Wine, and the whistal forests. One is never to mock or blaspheme the Woldian god; one is never allowed to drink or even own Blue Wine unless you've been given express permission by the clerics of Domi to do so; and one is never suppose to willfully destroy the whishtal forests and any creatures who naturally inhabit that environment.

Kane' listens and mentally stashes away the information from the Stallion and Linos. "The best way to black list Captain Annoir, then, is to see if he is doing any of the three blasphemous things. And with Linos with us, we have a centaur witness as well. Both for our protection and perhaps against Captain Annoir." He turns aside and begins speaking to his cauldron in a low whisper.

With the party purchases of manacles, locks, and rope, Kane' is ready to travel.

Spire racks his mind to remember what this Blue Wine might be. (Local: 22) If the elf cannot remember, he will ask Linos.

Zeoll no doubt can add to it, but Spire's recollection about the subject is that both Centaur Isle and Minotaur Isle are famous for making and exporting a top-notch product dubbed Purple Wine--it's considered the best in the Wold. Even more rare and precious is Blue Wine, which both Centaur and Minotaur culture hold Sacred as a gift from Domi (or Imod, as the Minotaurs of the older tradition refer to him) that they only use during their most important festivals, rituals and holidays. It is a crime to both peoples for anyone to drink or possess Blue Wine unless a cleric of Domi has given you permission to do so.

"I assure you, we have no intention to harm anything sacred to Centars. We will also do what we can to capture Annoir unharmed, hopefully he cooperates."

Jozhur remembers the Whistalwood bow Linos mentioned. He tries to think of what would be special about a bow made from that material and what the price would be. (Knowledge local: 20)

-----------------
Jozhur will be purchasing 20 blunted arrows for 2 gp, if allowed. They can be shared with other bow wielding members of the party. Looks like blunted arrows are an APG item though.

"Well...some of the more wild flora and fauna can be a bit...territorial..." Linos admits after thinking about it for a moment. "But that's why I'm going to be your guide--to help you stay out of their way."

Jozhur very easily purchases the blunted arrows. Speaking to the centaur bowyer/fletcher who crafted the practice missiles, he finds out that whishtal bows are considered very lucky for centaur archers, as the entire race reveres the whishtal tree as being sacred.
