Eral wonders if they should dispose of the Goblin Dogs and questions Hazel about it. Also, he makes sure whatever valuables are to be found in the cave are quickly retrieved.

Shel kills another Dog... a brutal spell rips through the animals body making it collapse to the ground shuddering in pain...

With Adomorn and Hazel now both on top of him the Goblin whines in fear and in goblin he curses the day that he joined Khadzh's group... he releases his sword...

Murphy checks if the one threatening Eldon is actually dead or just unconscious but as no condensation forms on the mirror he holds in front of the Goblin's nose he realises the poor thing is thouroughly dead...

Edric helps out Eral as he gathers all the interesting things around the cave.

Then Murphy supports Eldon trying to get out of the cave slowly. Eldon is pretty weak at the moment. He clearly didn't get much to eat or drink and whatever food he got was rotten meat and stinking bread loaded with fungi...

"We'll talk while we head to town lad... but... hurry... I'll explain as we travel home. I just fear I won't be able to walk all the way back... please help me... "

Here's a list of what you can assemble :
Khadzh : tanglefoot bags (2), MW scale mail, longspear, shortbow with 20 arrows, short sword, sack of dead rats, long stick, length of string, Short Sword (looks very good), pouch with 1000Gp worth of gems (clearly some kind of paiement)
8 Goblin Warriors total inside and outside : 8 leather armor, 4 light wooden shield, 8 short sword, 6 short bow with 20 arrows

Everyone also is awarded with 2300Xp (all including Adomorn)

Shel will cast Detect Magic once all the threats have been neutralized, scanning the gear assembled.

"What's that you say, Eldon? Why do we need to rush home? ". Once Eldon fills her in, Shel begins to panic as well, trying her best to get the group to hustle up for the trip back.

Eral will go ahead and Channel positive Energy once everyone is collected in one place. He will channel it twice if there is time before we head out.

"Get what we can strapped onto one pony as quick as possible and lets get on our way. Someone search the dead ones outside when we pass them. Eldon can ride on the other pony and I will try to keep him stable."

Hazel uses his 50' of silk rope carefully to bind the goblin which Adomorn tackled, and asks for someone else to provide rope for tieing up the other goblin who is just now recovering from Shel's effective actions.

Each one he hobbles, so they can walk - but cannot move their feet wide enough effectively to run. Hands are tied behind the back, and separated vertically from each other by a short stick so their hands cannot work in tandem. Once they begin to travel, he will check their bonds closely during a short break typically taken every hour. Each has a lead line, so that one of the halflings will keep the goblin at hand.

As the group prepares to leave, he takes one of the goblins (#4) off out of hearing distance of the other goblin (#1). If someone wants to join him to observe the interaction, that will be fine with him (add a few sense motive rolls if you do). To #4, he asks questions along the following lines:
What is your name?
The other one we tied up - what is his name?
What plans did you [plural] have for your prisoner?
How many of your people come to this cave, and how often?
What plans were made for Sarabella?
What plans were made about halfling dwellings?
Who is another leader besides Khadzh?
What other goblin groups work with him?
Who is Khadzh working for? Who paid him?
What allies do you have besides your own kind? Besides goblins?
How many giants are helping you?
How are they helping you?
Why did you capture the trader?
What did you plan to do with him?
How many spies are in Crescent Valley?
Who are they?
If you help us, treatment will be better
If you do not help us, treatment will not be better.
After he questions the one, he will isolate and question the other in a similar fashion. If he notes a discrepancy, he may (or may not) point it out. He might do a bit of playing one off the other, if doing so seems appropriate. If either one is cooperative, he gives him something small to eat, and a few ounces of water. If one does not cooperate, he gives him nothing. In either case, he places gags in each goblin's mouth, and blindfolds them for now.

As an afterthought, just before they leave the cave area, and out of earshot of the goblins Hazel consults with Alouryn, Shel, Murphy and the others. "Let's tell them what we found in gems. Then tell them, 'If there is other treasure or things of importance hidden in this area, and you tell us, and cooperate, we will set aside a part of its value for you.'

"If they do, we might find something important we otherwise would have overlooked. If not, well, then on we go."

If no one objects, he asks this of each goblin - again, separately. He has one or two others to watch the goblins and listen as they respond. He does so inside the cave, removing their blindfolds and gags before he asks - just in case a quick glance from one might indicate where something of value may be found - whether high, low, in or near the fire, around the dog cages or Eldon's cage, or elsewhere.

He also asks Eldon if he might be aware of any such thing. "I know we need to leave, but it took over 3 days to get here, and a handful of minutes here may help a good deal."

"Thank you, Eral. That helped." (Murphy goes from 6/18 to 13/18 hit points, then adds 8 from level boost, to 21/26).

He makes certain that Eldon gets a little bit of food and water - not too much all at once, lest he get sick.

"Pippa here has a pack saddle, but, give us a few minutes, and I think I can rig up something to allow you to ride up there, too." He works at it, moving cargo, canvas and ropes around to give him a secure seat. He gives Pippa some feed, and water.

Is there water here in the lair? He is not too interested in the food they might have.

For the dogs, he suggests that, just before we leave, their bodies be stacked over the fire, making sure there is space for air between the corpses for efficient burning, using whatever random furniture, sticks, rocks are handy to do so. Last thing before exiting the cave, ensure they are burning well.

He talks quietly with goblin #4. "You have shown yourselves to be our enemies by kidnapping our friend, the trader. We do not wish to dishonor your dead, though. Among some goblins it is customary to leave their bodies in a large bush or tree, their face toward the sky, for the Raven. Do you want us to do that for them?"

If goblin #4 answers affirmatively, he enlists the aid of his friends. "Goblin bodies in bushes, face up, so birds can pluck their eyes, fly upward, and add to the wings of black Raven to make stars in the sky above."

He directs that their bodies be placed in the brush from A36 to about J36 on the map.

In goblin, he chants one of their burial chants,
"All of us now scream - ayi!
All of us now growl - gurdurr!
Our bowels churn within us,
They twist for you now gone."
"Say something short about them if you want."(OOC: If this does not confuse the goblins, I don't know what will)

He tells the goblins. "I expect you to try to escape. If you try, though, we'll probably kill you. Come without balking, do what we say, perhaps you will live." If they had earlier told of additional treasure, he adds, "You may want to eventually get your portion of the treasure you told us about to use while you are alive. Your choice."

He notes that #4 is wounded. He attempts to use his healing skills on him, but fails miserably (d20+6=7 - natural 1). Obviously there must be some aspect of goblin anatomy unfamiliar to him. "Quick! someone help heal this fellow before he dies!" he asks of Eral and Alouryn. He is most chagrined.

Once that is dealt with, the druid asks if anyone has anything else to say or do before they depart.

If not, away we go. Marching order needed.

Murphy leads Pippa in the middle of the group - at least one pair of people behind for rear defense, at least one pair in front for advance defense/recon.

Goblins - one in 2nd row, one near Pippa's left flank, as Hazel arranged - hobbled, lightly gagged, blindfolded at the beginning of the trip. Who will hold on to a rope for each? One on goblin #4, one on goblin #1.

Does someone want to try on the goblin leader's armor - masterwork scale mail? There is a very good looking short sword. Who wants to use it? Let's splits the gems between the two clerics just for the moment - 500 gp w/ Alouryn, 500 gp w/ Eral. We can break down distribution more later.

On leaving the camp, Perception: 15; Survival: 16.

ADM Kim - Housekeeping, Hero points
Thursday December 19th, 2013 5:54:45 AM

The end of a scene is a good time to make nominations for hero points. You can nominate others, you can nominate yourself. The DM will rule in each case. I can think of several recommendations, but will ask you all to do so, except for this one: Alomorn Millstone deserves a hero point for daring to tackle a guy running toward him with a sword, and preventing his escape.

Feel free to discuss via email, as well as any treasure distribution ideas. I will send a starter email right now.

Shel observes the loot hoping to find any magic items. She notices Khadzh sword that pops out of the loot... Eral too takes intrest in the loot and suggest they take whatever they can carry with them.

Hazel ties up the Goblins. One has been captured by Adomorn and the other one gradually gains back his wit after Shel's disruptive spells. Also Hazel prepares a huge number of questions he plans on asking the Goblins as they walk home. Also a cunning scheme to hopefully find more valuable comes to his devious mind.

Murphy takes care of the fallen Goblins and dogs and much to the Goblin's amasement he chants over their dead bodies. They are not used to Halflings paying respect to their fallen comerades. Neither G1 nor G4 say much as Murphy goes about... they are clearly uneasy with the whole situation. To make al things even more complex Eral, per Murphy's request, heals G4... his wounds magically close making G4 eyeball you all with large bulging eyes. But you do sense suspicion in them also...

Adomorn feels pleased he was able to help in the capturing of the Goblin. Now at least the Goblin might inform them of things yet untold.

Loot has been gathered - only the sword shows a magical aura. Gems too have been stored away.
The dead bodies have been taken care of and none of the surviving Goblins informed you of any more valuables. As for water... not in the cave but in the swamp it seems... Goblins and Halflings don't share the same liking for clear water...

And then, spurred by Eldon to move fast, the group starts it long journey home. During the trip the Goblins are questionned. Sometimes together, sometimes a one on one...

What is your name?

Murphy (Kim)  d20+9=23 ; d20+11=31 ;

As they travel back, Murphy checks frequently with Eldon to ensure his comfort. To help him regain his strength, he insists the elderly halfling eat a little and drink a little every so often. Every few hours he has him get off the pony to walk at least a short distance, even if only a few dozen or a few hundred yards, again - to help him build up his strength. He know he has been a man of vitality, and hopes by the time he meets up with Cora that he will be in better shape than he was in the cage.

He finds a leather bag among his possessions with his name embroidered on the outside. Curious, he looks inside. He pulls forth a few knarled strips of jerked venison. "Huh," he comments. He sniffs a piece - and it smells fine. He touches his tongue to it. It tastes good. He ventures a bite. It takes an effort to bite off a small piece as he holds the end between his molars and twists the stick about. He gets the small piece. He chews. And chews. It takes nearly five minutes fully to masticate the morsel, but it tastes good. He continues to work on the stick until consumed. Murphy feels full, satisfied. He explores the bag, and finds 24 more pieces of jerked venison. "Hey, would anyone like a piece of jerked venison? It's good." [Note: won in Giggling Ghost. One piece fully satisfies daily nutritional requirements.]

Also, as they travel, Murphy asks if anyone knows any traveling or marching songs that will help them to pass the time. "I rather miss Flimsipold," he mentions.

As they choose a way back on generally firmer footing, Murphy's survival skills he offers to augment Hazel's pathfinding skills.

As night approaches, he works with others to find a suitable spot to camp.

Generally pleased with the information he was able to obtain from the goblins, he tells them, "We all die one day or another. Maybe your lives be longer, you help us." He splits half his rations with them - so they each get a quarter rations, plus all the swamp water they may want to drink. As stated earlier, he checks their bonds on a regular basis, making certain that loosened knots are firmed up or retied. On the other hand, if blisters begin to form, he makes adjustments to minimize further irritation or damage, so long as security is not effectively compromised.

"Edric - why don't you take the short sword for now? You're a fighter, right? I could try it, too, but want you to have first choice."

He chooses what he trusts will be a faster path back on firmer ground, though they chose the more direct path through the squishier parts of the swamp on their way to the goblins' lair. He travels with due haste, but tries to avoid becoming careless in his desire to move quickly.

During short rest breaks, he passes on to the others what he learned from the goblins. He asks Eldon Tosscobble if what they said matches up to whatever he might have been able to pick up during his stay as their 'guest.'

Shel points out the sword that clearly seems to hold magic of some sort and suggests one of the warriors should take it. On the return trip the sorcerer feels nervous... a strange sensation for the little sorcerer... but then she digs up a Lady's Parasol and her faces turns much happier.

On the return trip Murphy makes sure to occasionally check on Eldon. The poor old man hasn't had any food to eat and very little water to drink... not to say that the water wasn't exactly the kind you're used to drink back home... fresh... cool... crystal clear... yeah right...

The druid grabs some jerked venison and offers some to his friends.

Kmorn and Dxurs continue to eyeball Hazel with more and more amasement... the Ranger is actually making sure they are feeling comfortable while in captivity... you get the feeling they wouldn't exactly do the same on you nor do you get any sensation of trust at all from them. They would rather slit your throat during the night than follow you home...

Hazel doesn't feel like using Khadzh's Sword and offers it to Edric. He also learns from Eldon that what Kmorn and Dxurs have said does match more or less what Eldon heard... Sarabella sure is in grave danger or so it seems.

The rest of the trip home Hazel hopes to spend at least with Alouryn at his side... didn't he call her sweetheart during the raid on the Goblin Lair? Perhaps she didn't hear? While walking he questions her about Flower and how one can best serve her. Alouryn of course gladly walks with her brave Ranger and it is with pure love that she speaks about Flower.

As you walk home you come to the edge of the swamp again. Eldon suddenly raises a rasping voice saying : "We must hurry but don't venture into the swamp... when the Goblin's took me to their lair they didn't dare to... they even lost some things because Khadzh forced one of them to try the Swamp...

Also friends, these swamps are dangerous! Rumour goes that you can find Giant Toads in there! Those can swallow us halflings whole! Let's go round the swamp... "

"Shel - that is a sweet parasol, indeed! You look positively fetching with it, girl!"

Before they leave the swampy area, Murphy has everyone gather together their waterskins and whatever else they hold water in, including the skins he keeps for Pippa, gathers swamp water, and twice casts purify food and drink to ensure the group has up to 30 gallons of fresh water (1 cu ft of water = 7.5 gallons, each casting by Murphy cleans up 2 cu ft).

Murphy comments, "Once we get back to where your wagon was left, Mister Tosscobble, I can have it hitched to Pippa in a jiffy. I used one mending spell on it already, and can do a couple more if needed. If no one has bothered it since we left it."

Then he adds, "We came across three giant toads, indeed, Mister Tosscobble, but we only killed two of 'em. The other one we left slumbering - decided we didn't need to kill it. The swamp is its home, after all, and we were just intruders. Before that, one of them almost swallowed our bard friend, Flimsipold - Hin Billy he calls himself, too. Fortunately, we all killed that one before it fully gulped him down. He and Odo headed back to town the next morning. It wasn't for fear, though. Flim and Odo are both brave sorts. We sent a message back with them to town."

Murphy also talks with Hazel out of earshot of the goblins. "If you loosen the hobble by about two inches, I think the goblins can move a little faster. It will still make it hard for them to run very fast. Probably about time to change that part of the rope anyhow, what with them dragging over the ground for some time now." He offers him some of his own rope to do the job.

"You are right about that, Alouryn. We all want to help Sarabella Lovesong, So let's hurry, indeed."

Each hour the group takes a five minute rest, and each four hours a twenty minute break for food and rest. Murphy asks Eral if he will start taking over to make sure that Eldon Tosscobble gets bits of food and drink, while he himself tends to the needs of his pony, and makes sure that straps and gear are snug and in order, and Pippa gets sustenance. He also is mindful to ensure there is no chafing. At one point, he stares at the large orange swath of horsehair.

He wonders if Edric will take up the sword, or pass it back to Hazel. He'd be pleased if either one of them put it to use. "Best decide that right soon, and not dither back and forth."

And as they travel, he spends some time asking Eldon Tosscobble about the formulation of the orange salve. He makes very specific inquiries as to exactly what plants and other substances are used, where they are found, what they look like, how they are harvested, what parts are used, how prepared, and how it is all mixed together. He wants to understand well enough that he could make it himself. He repeats back to Eldon all the specifics, and asks if he is leaving anything out.

DM Steven

For a while the group keeps pondering who would be best suited for the use of Khadzh's blade an eventually Edric is chosen. Though he himself favours axes he's willing to wield the blade for a change...

When Eldon tries to warn you not going through the swamp, Shel tells him you vanquished not one but three Giant Toads on your way to the lair! Feeling still rather weak, the old man does find some stamina to merrily laugh about that... he's clearly not believing you!

Hazel remains undecided and waits to go through or around the swamp... he reckons going around would probably be equally fast and... potentially less dangerous! All this talk takes too long for Shel and Alouryng... Sarabella Lovesong is possibly in danger so there's no time to waste here!

Murphy takes time to purify some water and also tries to convince Eldon about the Giant Toads... as you all seem to tell the same story Eldon's eyes grow large. "Don't you all know how dangerous those beast are?!? Your friend Flim, whoom I recall well, could have been swallowed!! Never... never again venture into such dangerous swamps my friends... Though brave souls you are it could be your last journey. Leaving a Giant Toad sleeping out of mercy is all too crazy but prooves your hearts are true... stupid perhaps... but true. There are worse things out here lads 'n lasses and you don't want to see them all. Now giddy up. We'll go just as fast around as through the swamp and it will be a lot safer. I see most of you have a nice orange color... Does that mean you found some of the jars? Have you kept some?? We will probably need it soon...

(DM Steven - you have none left as all but Hazel have used it)

Shel doesn't like the swamp too much as it makes her hair all hinky... she for one wouldn't mind going around. Eral isn't too keen on going through either but would if the group decides to go through after all.

Ultimately you go around the swamp and like Eldon predicted, you have the feeling that you were even a bit faster than when you went through the swamp.

It's about time for making another camp my friends...

Edric ONLY Highlight to display spoiler: { the sword is a +1 Short Sword. However there seems to be a minor curse on the Sword... from now on you can only speak with a stutter... "And I'll take last watch," offers Murphy. "Need some sleep in between."

Murphy checks to see whether any more orange cream remains... nope. "Maybe a spoonful or two, that's it, of the cream," he says, the tips of his ears showing red beneath the orange.

Now: Did Eldon talk Murphy through all the aspects of making the ant-goblin dog cream, as he requested? If not, he will repeat the inquiry, and be certain he understands it well enough to explain correctly back to Eldon. There are hours and hours of travel, and no want of time to learn such things. If others want to listen in, too, then all the better. "Does Madam LaRue maybe have enough ingredients to put some together, do you suppose?" Murphy asks of Eldon.

He listens respectfully to Eldon's dual-pronged rebuke for dealing with two and letting live one of the toads. "It would be interesting to listen to you and my Aunt Nilli discuss that issue, Mister Tosscobble. She is of a mind that, if you find critters out in the wild that wouldn't bother you if you didn't swing by their neighborhood, that perhaps you might not want to willy-nilly wipe them out. Um, no pun intended. But she might agree with you that avoiding dangerous critters if you can is a prudent course. It's just that, in this case, we were trying to get to you before the goblins did something awful to you or worse, and the big ol' toads were right in our way."

"Good, Edric, glad you'll be trying out that sword."

At the camp, Murphy sets up a circumference of trip lines with his ropes, and conceals them as well as he is able. He digs a privy hole a ways from the camp, and will quickly cover it over as they break camp in the morning. He takes care of Pippa's needs, relieves him of his burdens, brushes him down, feeds him, and figures a place to tie him down.

Hazel tries to give Alouryn a decent answer to her question. "How? I lived a long time in the Culverwood, Alouryn, learning about life in the forest and such. It's not all trees there - the woods have some open meadows, and swamps here and there. But Eldon knows a lot more about this area near the Red Hills than I do.

"There are different groups of druids in the Culverwood, too. Some don't take to kindly to halflings being there - we did not get on so well with them. Some others were all right with halflings there, so long as they weren't ruining the place. So, we learned out to get by, how to track a bit, and trap for food or the occasional fur to help keep warm.

"So, they don't have you check out things away from home once in a while in your training for devotion to Flower? When you take over the training - maybe you can arrange some field trips once in a while," he says with a lopsided grin.

He helps set up camp as well - and makes certain that the goblins are well secured, and separated from each other. And fed. He blindfolds them, and then spends some time whittling some wood into pointed spikes. He digs some around each goblin, and tells them he has set a trap for if they try to escape. Basically he digs several little pits, just six to ten inches deep, and puts dry crunching things within the holes, so that if they step in them, plenty of snapping branches will be audible. He points these out to everyone so they will be mindful.

"I will take second watch. Who will take third watch?" he asks the others. "Those on watch take a look at the goblins' situation at least once an hour," he urges.

Faoil's survival instincts are high at the moment. He nudges Hazel to mind something he may otherwise have overlooked.

Murphy offers to take last watch. The druid feels mortified for having used all the orange paste... "Not even I know all details lad... That is a recipee from the Flower's Priestess Sarabella Lovesong. Let's hurry home and perhaps we will convince her to learn you or perhaps that follower of Flower there how to make that paste...

Later Murphy and the others respectfully to Eldon's dual-pronged rebuke for dealing with two and letting live one of the toads...

Hazel and Alouryn talk about many things as they walk home with the group. During the night Hazel goes for second watch...

Khadzh's sword finds home in Edric's hands... he takes a few swings realising the blade is a pretty good one... there is something funny about his speach...

Third watch goes to Eral, who took notice of Edric's stutter...

ADM Kim - Update recommendation when going to 3rd level
Friday December 27th, 2013 1:16:57 AM

My recommendation: Make a copy of your 2nd level character sheet, then reflect the upgrade to 3rd level in the name.
For example:
My old one is: Murphy Bumblebee Leafwin Pipewood Druid 2a Wold HF.doc
My new one is: Murphy Bumblebee Leafwin Pipewood Druid 3 Wold HF.doc
As you make the copy, check the box that says keep the same shares. In the new one, click the Share button, then copy the share link into your new character header spot.
I can give more detailed info later - but I wanted everyone to see this quickly, before they write over the 2nd character info.
Also - don't delete the old character sheet. As we (and other people) read through our game's archives from now and down through the years, it is good to be able to click on the character sheets in use at the time of posting. That way readers will have a decent idea of what spells, items, etc. the characters possessed at the time of posting.
Cheers! - ADM Kim

Through the night everything remains calm. On every watch though you have to calm the Goblin prisoners for they constantly keep trying to break the ropes...

The morning they head out from the first campsite, Murphy casts Zone of Truth and reviews several of the questions Hazel asked to discern just how truthful they may have been - or not been - in their previous answers.

Within the zone of truth he asks them whether they would promise to avoid trying to escape if he eases some of their bonds as they travel. He marks their responses, and acts in accord with what he discerns.

At the wagon, having cast a mending spell to help repair damage done when they first came upon the wagon, he enlists the aid of all to set the wagon back upon its wheels, and casts an additional mending spell or two as needed. He then transfers those items in the pack saddle & side saddles into the cart, has Eldon ride up front (or makes a comfortable spot for him behind if he prefers that), harnesses Pippa to pull the cart, and asks his companions if there is anything else they may need to do on the way back.

"One thing I can think of: Who is able to run fast? If one or two can run ahead to warn Angel Springs, and ask for quick help - and a few horses - you can catch back up to us as we head to Humble's Ford. I can write a note - and, Eldon - perhaps you and I can sign it - and please tell me if more information needs to be included."

Gist of the note: Report of what we learned from Eldon and from interrogation of goblins; request for immediate loan of two fast ponies to bearers of the note, as well as perhaps a small contingent of militia to head toward Humble's Ford to lend a hand - and alert sentries to watch for any incursions, and to prepare for same.

The towhead druid writes this on the wagon, and within 15 minutes should be able to hand it off to whoever is willing to make the (hopefully) quick detour.

"I wonder, Hazel, whether it might be fastest for you to ride ahead on Faoil to contact Angel Springs? Perhaps you'll find an official or responsible person before you get there, and ask that individual to rush it to the appropriate authorities. I think we'll need you back with us as soon as possible."

TOTALLY OOC--A Special Message from DM Donna
Sunday January 5th, 2014 1:58:02 AM

Greetings, Folks of the Ford!

I am pleased to inform you that your game qualifies to receive a Yuletide Magic Gift because 5 out of 7 of you players posted in the Giggling Ghost during the recent Yuletide Festival!

Because of your participation in the Festivities, EACH of you may add the following to your PC's Character Sheet:

One cut-crystal bottle containing a fruity blue potion: it's a Cure Light Wounds potion. Drinking it will cure d8+3

This potion was won at the Yuletide Festival in the Giggling Ghost and its magic will expire on January 5, 2015.

Congratulations to everyone in the Humble's Ford Game! Please DO note that, as a special Magic Gift won through either the Lotto or the Yuletide Festival, the following rules will apply to this particular item:

1) A PC may have no more than 5 magical "Gifts" at a time. This includes, among other things, Lotto items and Yuletide gifts.

2) All magical "Gifts" have a 12 month expiration date and must be labeled on the PC sheet with the date they were received. When magical gifts expire, they do not disappear, but turn into mundane non-magical items. PCs can still keep them as non-magical items for sentimental/RP value.

3) Non-magical gifts do not expire and you may keep as many as you want.

Congratulations, Humble's Ford--and thank you for helping to make this year's Yuletide Festival so very special!

Murphy begins to write his letters and Hazel waits for them so he can leave, the others make sure everythng is loaded on to the cart and is ready to go.

Almost as soon as he starts writing you all hear the sounds of a fair number of things/people moving along the road at a very rapid pace. You all just manage to get out of the way and off the road as a pony and cart, three mounted war dogs, three other warrior mounted ponies and a mounted house come moving by you at a pace that seems faster than natural, especially for the pony and cart. You are able to discern a few things very easily.

* They are all heading the same way you were, which means they are likely headed to Humbles Ford.
* The cart was one that is used for transporting prisoners in.
* All the riders are halflings.
* They all appear to be dressed in the same way (a uniform perhaps?)

"So the Baron's men know that something is happening in Humble's Ford. Looks like we already are past the junction for the branch that leads to Angel Springs, so, Hazel, let's stick together, and see if we can pick up the pace."

As Eral, the cleric of Domi, has Dxurs walking in front of him, and he knows Hazel has been checking the goblins every hour, Murphy is very surprised to hear that the goblins have fallen. He trusts that Eral, slightly behind the cart, will be able to give the goblin in his charge some sort of healing hand. Kmorn would have been walking next to the cart, so Murphy jumps down - he will cast cure light wounds (4 hp) if that goblin is still alive, and shout back to Eral to help the other.

In the back of his mind, as they have been attentive to the general health of the goblins, the druid wonders whether some magic or poison is in play here.

[the d20+3 was supposed to be d8+3... so I then rolled the proper die].

"Guess that changes me going to Angel Springs, eh, Murphy? Let's stick together..."

As he had been doing all along during their travel, Hazel has been checking on the security and well-being of the goblins regularly. So he is well surprised by both of them falling at the same time, once others tell him. "Fix 'em, then put 'em on the wagon," he suggests once those capable of such take care of them. "We've got to keep moving." He urges haste. "Someone see if Murphy's pony needs some healing, too."

Edric is worried by the haste of the other travellers. "W-we should hurry back, somet-thing may be wrong."

Seeing the goblins keel over, Edric inspects them carefully. "And h-here I thought we h-had to worry about the g-goblins betraying us."

Perception: 18+2=20

Alouryn will stand close to Pipa and channel the energies of Flower to the group. Anyone who is down including Pipa and the goblin can take 7 more HP.

Heal check of 16 to determine the dead Goblin's reason for dying.

OOC: Still no Internet, but I will try to post and game again. Please, take it as a good wish. I am not sure I will be able to do it. I'll try to update the Character ASAP. Won't be easy. Maybe I'll need to email it.
Hazel gets near Alouryn.
"Please forgive me if I was distant recently. I am not used to these... Feelings... For another person. You must know I am... You and me... I feel..."
Hazel turns very red and looks down, unsure how to continue.

"This is interesting because I thought I had him stable." Eral will perform a heal check on both goblins to see if there is any chance of saving them or figure out what might have caused them to collapse so suddenly. If he can save one he will cast CLW to try and get him back on his feet.

"Maybe something was in them before we got to them? We should be moving as quick as possible. We do not have much time to deal with a few dead goblins when the whole town is in danger."

"I wonder whether there is some sort of effect from the giant towers. Or a spell that someone devised which makes goblins sick. Or," and now Murphy's eyes go darker, "Did we somehow neglect something they need for their health?"

Shel Breezelee Kromnite (Gerald) HP21/21; AC 14/14/11

"I don't know anything about goblins, but I'm pretty sure they don't start dying for no reason. Is it possible they've been poisoned somehow and we didn't notice? Should we let the other goblin go, if it might be something we are doing? I know its evil and all, but I don't want to be responsible for killing it while it's helpless."

Shel turns to the others, "But we have to hurry home whatever we decide. I didn't like the looks of that group of guards flying by us. There's something really bad happening. Let's go!"
