The Trade Winds Blow Fair

DM Rob - Trust the Halfling
Monday January 6th, 2014 4:55:12 AM

The party sit around a table deciding how best to split their earnings.

The guards that had been talking with the barmaid have finished their work. The lead guard gives a lingering glare through the open doors of the tavern, snorts, and then leaves with the other guards in tow. Any future encounter with him will likely not go well.

"It's quiet in here today" Linos smiles as he strides in through the open doors. This is the happiest you've seen him. His head held high, his shoulders straight - yes, he is definitely in a good mood.

He extends his hand to Jozhur "I owe you many thanks. I went to pay some more off my bow only to discover it had already been paid for in full. I truly am grateful for this gift"

Jozhur receives 1 hero point for generosity - a trait valued in all the Wold's heroes

"I'm afraid I have no news from Stallion Pholus yet, however. The restriction on leaving the Fort and exploring our island remains in place for the foreseeable future." Linos explains to the rest of the group.

The tension that remained in the bar following the fight eases. The centaur barmaid has returned to her position behind the counter. She occupies herself with some mundane tasks, but seldom takes her eyes away from Magana.

When she looks away it is to watch as a halfling enters the tavern. The fellow could be mistaken as a cabin boy - certainly appearing as one who regularly sails aboard a ship. He carries a wad of papers under one arm and a pack in the other. He casually approaches the barmaid and has a few words with her. She smiles and nods to him, to which he nods back.

The halfling walks to the entrance and, taking a hammer and nail from his pack, nails a handbill next to the door. (OOC: If the image is unclear please check your zoom is at 100%)

With his task done, he leaves in search of another tavern.

Zeoll stands and watches the halfling as he puts up his notice.

"Good thing I know how to read now," he mutters in taurric, looking at the handbill over the shoulder of the small fellow.

As the halfling turns to go, Zeoll asks him, "Excuse me! Excuse me? Wherre do folks go to prresent their prroposals? And wherre is Gullporrt?"

"We still cannot leave?" Spire sighs, closing his spellbook. "It may sound odd, but I am beginning to miss Bonetown."

Kane' Ma'Kai (SteveK) AC13/ T13/ F10/ CMD 17) HP 47/47
Monday January 6th, 2014 7:01:32 PM

Kane' looks at the treasure and with the assistance of some local centaurs, divides the loot. He takes the 1,500 gp in various coins and divides them in six shares, giving one share each to Kane', Zeoll, Spire, Jozhur, Magana, and Rozan.

The magical equipment is left in its own pile as Kane' speaks up. "OK, everyone knows there is a Catacombs here in Fort Stag and since we have the walk of the town, anyone can go there to sell loot for 50% cost. Or you can claim magic items and sell some of the loot. Let's get this done."

Kane' claims the Necklace of Fireballs and the Dust of Dryness. He converts the rest of his share to cash at the Catacombs, getting 1,109gp. (Pending DM approval.)

...............

OOC: OK, I've thought hard about how to equitably divide loot with the Catacombs buying back at 50% cost, so here goes.

1) All coins are divided straight up. 1,500gp /6 = 250gp (Each hero gets 250gp)

2) All goods are separate. 28,309gp /6 = 4718gp (Each Hero can take up to 4,718gp of magic items.) Any portion left over, the Player halves and turns into coin. Confirm with DM on your decision.

This was the best I could do to promote fairness between Players and within DMs intent. Next time, if someone else wants to sort the loot, I'd be happy to turn over the responsibility! :-)

Zeoll says to Kane, "Hold on therre a second, parrtnerr, Spirre therre got a head starrt on the loot claims with a worrd forr the same two items. You two will want to settle this peaceful like."

OOC: Spire put in dibs on the same items Jan 4.

OOC: I took the liberty of already opening a ticket in the Catacombs to sell the magical stuff we are not keeping for cash, so we can split the cash afterwards. Dividing by six, I'm planning on us each picking up about 3,400 gp each. Also, I'm just taking the Speak with Animals philter.

"Well, truthfully, I can cast the spell that this item recreates. I would like the Dust, however. I think it would complement the amulet well." He picks up the Fate Item that makes his skim mildly slimy and looks it over, grimacing slightly. "I had better get some use out of this..."

OOC :: I have Fireball now, so Kane can have the necklace. I'll grab the Dust of Dryness, since Spire can breathe underwater and whatnot, so he might get better use from the Dust.

"You saved our skins, Linos. It's the least I could do."

Jozhur looks over the poster trying to recall where Gullport is and whether he knows anything about this annual trade fair. (knowledge local: 13)

---------
I'm fine with that loot arrangement, think that's how we've been doing it.

DM Rob - Trust the Halfling
Tuesday January 7th, 2014 8:09:18 AM

"You are free to set sail and leave the Fort" Linos explains to Spire "It's just forbidden for you to set foot on Centaur Island past these walls"

Jozhur racks his brain but comes up empty. The name 'Gullport' does not ring any bells.

Zeoll manages to catch the halflings attention before he skips out the door. "Sorry, I'm pretty new to the crew. From what they tell me, Gullport is some settlement northwest of Pearl Island. I hear it's off the usual trade route so they hold this trade thing-a-majig every year to get people to come by. Word is they're paying a hefty coin to try and get some regular trade" the halfling explains with a smile, as he wipes the sweat from his brow on his forearm "If you ask me they should have included co-ordinates on the flyer. Would've made things a lot easier"
Sense Motive DC20 Highlight to display spoiler: {He seems to be sweating from his work, not due to any unease about being questioned}

The remainder of discussions centre around the sharing of the loot

Zeoll fails to notice anything about the halfling's affect (Sense Motive 14 alas), but he does look him over with a keen eye (Perception 26).

The liontaur tries to recall what he may have heard about this "Gullport" and "Pearl Island" ... (Know Geography 6, Know Local 16).

"Well, if we wanted to go to these places," Zeoll asks the halfling, "Places unfamiliarr to me, and I've been arround this silly old Wold a time orr two, how would I even get therre?"

"But wherre are my mannerrs?" the old liontaur says to the short fellow, bowing. "My name is Zeoll, and these arre my frriends. Please, sit, join us, and tell us about yourrself -- and how you came to this island. The food and drrink is on me."

Diplomacy 28 -- is there a bonus for offering a meal to a halfling? :-)

==========
==========

OOC: I was confused too -- I thought we were waiting for a ruling from the Stallion, and we could not leave town until he said so? In fact, we can leave town if we want, if we leave the island? The stallion said ...

"You are all forbidden from leaving the walls of this port to our island" he says in a shocking order. His tone softens as he continues. "Understand that I am very grateful for what you have done, and whilst you are in the port you will be treated as my honoured guests. As a Stallion it is my responsibility to protect my people, our culture and our island. It was my decision though to permit access to the island to Annoir and his cohorts. The damage he has caused may just as well have been done by me. I need some time to reevaluate my decisions. I hope you understand"

I had the idea we were supposed to be waiting around while he re-evaluates? Now I guess not? Sorry, confused.

Spire looks at the halfling, not really taking note of anything special about him. Sweat is so unbecoming, the elf has little interest in staring at the messenger for very long. Kane' has no problem giving up his claim to the Dust, Spire after all did speak first and he also is the longer member of the Lionfish.

As to Linos' explanation, a lantern lights up over his head in understanding. "Ah, we misunderstood. I too thought that we were not to leave the city of Fort Stag, but the Stallion was meaning that we couldn't go inland! We can sail away any time we wanted!" With THAT news, the attraction of the halfling's poster is much clearer.

"Crewmates!" Kane' beams, "It will take probably many months for the Stallion to reach a decision here, and we are still a ship that needs provisions and a crew that desires opportunity for ourselves and those good people of the Wold who only desire peace. Let's find maps to this Gullport and see where our fortunes lay?" (Diplomacy: 9)

After rousing the heroes to a positively luke warm enthusiasm ( ;-) Kan'e will inquire to where a Cartographer may be found to get navigational maps to this Gullport and Pearl Island.

DM Rob - Drinks on Zeoll!
Wednesday January 8th, 2014 7:38:22 AM

Zeoll's knowledge of the Wold doesn't include any detail on Gullport. Pearl Island, though, he knows quite well. It's the island Bonetown is on!

The halfling eyes the group cautiously, but licks his lips with thirst. Zeoll's offer of a free drink looks to seal the deal "I suppose one drink wouldn't hurt" The taur sized furniture makes things even more difficult for the little man, but he does his best to keep his head above the table.

The little fellow takes off his worn grey cap and plops it on the table beside him. His head is bald and is just as sweaty as his brow. His thinning brown hair is matted though his face does not show the trademark wrinkles that come with age.

He gives a little wave to the barmaid, signalling for a drink which she readily delivers.

The halfling raises the massive cup "May Alemi ease you and Flower please you" he toasts before blowing the froth off his ale and taking a few huge gulps.

"Mmmm. Not bad ale if you ask me. I know, I know, taurs prefer their wines but if you ask me the dwarves have it right with ale. Oh yes, Baris. Baris Wildhand. That's me. Sailed in to port this morning on the Gold Saber"

The halfling sighs - or perhaps just exhales - before taking another huge gulp of ale.

"Ahh. Thankyou friend. That hits the spot." he raises the mug again to Zeoll "Now then... sailing to Pearl Island is dead easy. Pretty much directly north west of here. Just past Rum. There's a small harbor there called Bonetown. You're looking at around 1600 nautical miles or so. I hear Gullport is northwest of there. If you're thinking of going to Bonetown I'd keep careful eye on your purse though"

Baris scratches his chin "Come to think of it, do you know Totem Island? It's just northwest of Pearl Island? I'm pretty sure Gullport is on one of the islands off the west coast of Totem Island"

Spire's studies must have included detailed studies of the Middle Seas. Though the precise location of Gullport is unknown to him, Totem Island is one that he knows of. (OOC: You can see the bottom of Totem island in the top left corner on this map of the Middle Seas)

Kane has had enough of the Centaur hospitality and is ready to get back on his sea legs. Spire heartily agrees and makes a valid point that the crew will also likely welcome a high paying opportunity.

Magana is silent. As long as there is food and ale to be had, she will likely follow.

-----------------------------------------------------
OOC: Sorry for any confusion about whether or not you could leave the Fort. You CAN set sail. You just cannot legally set foot on the rest of Centaur Island

Kane' Ma'Kai (SteveK) AC13/ T13/ F10/ CMD 17) HP 47/47
Wednesday January 8th, 2014 9:01:00 PM

Kane' smiles at the older liontaur. Gargul smiled on the Lionfish when they brought Zeoll to them and told Kane' to befriend him. "Truer words never spoken, Zeoll Sir, and if Baris Sir and others like him have been posting these bills all over the Middle Seas, where do you think the thickest bands of scurvy pirates will be headed? All the merchies will attract predators."

"As to being merchants ourselves, I see no reason to ignore opportunity if it shows up. There is the late Captain Annoir's ship full of tubers that should be just off shore by the forest that we can confiscate, yes? And we can cash in on Stallion Pholus' hospitality to provision the Lionfish, I think."

Kane' waits to see if anyone else has any ideas before making a final decision. The meek Witch is growing into a warrior his ancestors would be most proud to call a 'man'!

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP33)  d20+12=32 ;
Wednesday January 8th, 2014 9:07:41 PM

"Oh, good idea, Kane!"

Zeoll asks Linos about Captain Annoir's cargo of heartburn plants and also asks if he has some other ship registered in port, since he sold his old one, didn't he? Also, has Linos heard about any of Annoir's crew and what may have happened to them?

Zeoll also asks Baris if he has been to Gullport himself. The way the halfling says, " I hear Gullport is northwest of there" ... and "I'm pretty sure Gullport is on one of the islands ..." makes Zeoll think the fellow has never been.

He engages the halfling in conversation, subtling pumping him for more, like where Baris got these fliers, and who is paying him to put them around, and what ship is he off, with what captain, and where he's from.

Diplomacy to Gather Info: 32.

"We resupply here, go to Gullport, and make our way back to Bonetown? Does that sound like a plan?"

DM Rob - Drinks on Zeoll!
Thursday January 9th, 2014 7:03:59 AM

Magana has well and truly had enough of Centaur hospitality. That she would put food aside in order to leave sooner is testament to that!

Kane and Zeoll wonder about Captain Annoir's ship and crew. They put it to Linos who shrugs "The prisoners we recovered were executed and the contraband destroyed. Too early to have any leads on the rest of his crew. Unless there is fresh evidence they are guilty of a crime then I doubt they will be punished. It would be difficult to prosecute a crewman for the offences of his captain"

Jozhur recalls a conversation he had a few days ago at the Happy Hippocampus. The gambler there did mention swapping ships with Annoir. What was the name of his new ship? The Albatross? And didn't the gambler mention it had already set sail? (OOC: Refer DM post from Wednesday September 25th)

The halfling is in a much better mood now, and the ale seems to have contributed to that. He talks openly to Zeoll about sailing on the Gold Saber and how happy he is with the crew and Captain. "It's rare to find a ship where every member of the crew takes pride in himself, the boat and the captain, wouldn't you agree?"

He goes on to explain that the ship originally set sail from Totem Island, and has been paid by the Alderman of Gullport to distribute the flyers in whatever ports they happen to venture to. As Baris previously mentioned, he joined only recently so wasn't present for the meeting.

Jozhur enjoys the ale served, but notes it lacks the 'oompf' of that brewed by dwarves. Maybe one day the Lionfish will venture to a dwarven port...

Spire sets out a plan for the group - resupply, visit Gullport, return to Bonetown. Simple. Direct. Easy?

----------------
@Jozhur/Brock: Sorry, Agile weapons are not part of Core to my knowledge.

The door to the "Mothering Mare" inn opens while the party is discussing their next headings. You casually look over your shoulder to see who comes in but as your vision to the door is partially blocked by other tables you see no one... the door closes. Odd...

But then you notice purple pink hair just reaching over one of the tables... the patch of hair moves towards the bar. Once it comes better in sight you perceive a little Gnome lass...

Standing just over 3ft tall, the purple pink haired lass eyeballs everything with curious big purple eyes. Her vibrant green cloak is embroidered with elaborate plant motifs. Beneath it her clothes are fairly simple yet a mishmash of several vivid colors going from lush green over deep reds towards ocean blue... if there's anything she does it's standing out in a crowd despite her tiny posture.
On her belt hangs a nice sickle she probably uses for cutting herbs... or other things.

Just as she about reaches the bar she spots the Liontaur...

Her eyes grow even wider as she cautiously comes closer... putting her right thumb on her left index finger and her left thumb on the right index finger, one palm towards her and the oher away from her, she makes sort of a picture frame with her hands. She positions her hands in such way that she only sees the great catlike part of the liontaur... then she positions them so she only sees the upper half human body...

Narrowing her eyes you see she's clearly pondering some weird puzzle.

"Greetings... euhm... grrreetings... my name is Aexana. I hearrrd storrries back in the city of Islands with crrreaturrrerre... aarghh... with creatures that are half horse half human and well... half lions too...

Aex walks towards your table and nods at everyone. Her eyes do linger a little longer when they pass on the Minotaur. Then she understands she's interfering something and appologises but as the Liontaur insists she joins at your table. Sitting next to the large taurs the Gnome looks insignificantly small.

"I'm Aexana and have a little shop back in Plateau City. I heard stories of these Islands and now that my daughter Aexiri is ready to take care of our shop, Aex's Herbs 'n Spices, I wanted to visit the Islands and see for myself if these... euhm... beings are to be considered animals or human... it will be an interesting study to observe such wonderful beings of nature. Kane' can't help but flash a shy smile; he travels with a minotaur and wemic and is surrounded by a city of centaurs, but there is nothing stranger in his experience than this wildly coloured, very forward and self-confident little gnome lass. The BloodWitch is impressed.

"And I am Kane' Ma'Kai, a warrior of a sea-faring people and part of the Lionfish as well. If you wish to see many islands and are willing to work for your passage, you can be part of the crew, I think. That is, if the others here agree." Kane' is embarrassed over the overflow of support, and gratefully hangs onto Zeoll's comment. " Right, Coer is still Captain and we last saw him going back to the Lionfish. We need to see how he and Shemseka and Rozan are before making other plans."

Since the Lionfish crew are free to go about the town and sail out of the Harbor, Kane' suggests everyone can make shopping trips who wants to while he gets to the Lionfish and finds out what is what. Based on the chance that Coer the minotaur is NOT there, Kane' will also secure provisions through the Harbor Master based on Stallion Pholus' hospitality, and also see if there is a Cartographer to gain a map of the Middle Seas to help in navigation.

K everyone, get your stuff done and lets let the DM move us to the water! :-)

Magana (Craig) [AC19] [HP 71 of 71] condition: fatigued, still hungry!
Friday January 10th, 2014 10:29:59 PM

Magana nods in agreement with the plan and heads out. After perusing a few shops, she drops the bulk of her coin on a new flail, deciding her current one has earned retirement and a place of honor (to be determined later).

She then makes her way to the harbor and the Lionfish, locating it through inquiries among the dock hands, and plants herself at the foot of the gangplank to stand guard until it is time to leave this stinking island of swaybacked nags.

"I would be most honored to be part of your crew... and will help to the best of my abilities though it would be most unwise to have me raise the sails..."

Zeoll says to Aexana, "So you arre a spice merrchant and herrbalist? That is fascinating. I once knew a grreenmage, and I love garrdening myself. I mean, I, myself, love to garrden."

"But if you do not mind me saying so, we tend to get into kind of dangerrous situations. Is a herrbalist going to be okay in a fight? You arre most welcome, but just so you know what you arre getting yourrself into."

DM Rob - Open seas at last!
Monday January 13th, 2014 5:14:14 AM

With the party now set and rested and a destination in mind, all head for the docks to depart.

The word is given to Tula, who quickly starts barking orders at various crew members. Pull in this, move that there, untie that, and so on. The crew are moving a little slower than normal. There are a few grumblings about, but certainly no sign of a mutiny. Well, for now at least!

Coer is found standing on the deck with his back towards Centaur Island. Perhaps a silent message to his hosts?

Before long the ship is ready to depart. Linos stands at the docks to wave off the party, but there is no sign of Stallion Pholus or Hollyhocks.

The open waters soon surround the Lionfish. The sails are full of wind and there is not a cloud in the sky. The rocking of the ship on the waves may be new to those yet to develop their sea legs. For some, the fresh smell of sea water is a welcome change from the stale port air. For others the feel of solid land underfoot cannot come soon enough.

Chores are shared amongst the group; everyone pulls their weight on the Lionfish.

Everyone is to undertake one of the following tasks...

Hauling: Strength check vs DC10 (anyone with Profession (sailor) may add that skill bonus as well): you're hauling on lines and/or moving barrels and such about the ship. DC10 and over means you've successfully accomplished the task. Fail the roll by 4 or more and you must roll a d6 for blunt damage because you bonked yourself when you dropped the barrel you'd been moving...

Rigging: Dexterity check vs DC10 (anyone with Profession (sailor) may add that skill bonus as well): you're climbing the rigging, checking for any damage to the sails. DC10 and over means you've been able to clamber about successfully. Fail the roll by 4 or more and you must roll a d6 for damage from falling off the rigging...

Navigation: Intelligence check vs DC10 (anyone with Profession (sailor) may add that skill bonus as well): You can't get anywhere unless you know how to steer the ship in the right direction! Fail the roll by 4 or more and you'll need to roll a d4 to see how many days you've added to the journey due to steering off course...

Zeoll says a fond farewell to Linos, and says that he hopes they will meet again.

He leaves the gruntwork to the kids and the brainwork to Spire and Kane. He welcomes the gnome herbalist aboard and introduces her.

"Captain Coerr, Bosun Tula, this is Aexana, a gnome who will be joining us."

Zeoll sees that there is some grumbling among the crew. He says a quick prayer to Queen Maab (Guidance) and tries to figure out why.

The liontaur thinks that maybe morale would be improved with the word that they are headed back toward Bonetown, and that there will be a pay boost for the crew. He puts this news into a cheerful song he hopes will raise spirits. Another prayer before he raises his old voice ... Perform Song 19.

Yo ho, my hearrties, we'rre headed forr home!

Coer gets a brief rundown then stops Zeoll - "Give me all the details once we have left the wretched island."

Welcome aboard Aexana, make yourself at home and help us prepare for launch.

Is there anyone else joining us"
calls Coer as he jumps ashore and hefts a crate of supplies on each shoulder and carries them aboard.

Monday January 13th, 2014 12:05:53 PM

Magana, fatigued, hungry, and having never served aboard ship, manages to drop a barrel on her hoof for 2 points of damage. The rims of her eyes get a little more red as she struggles to control the anger and frustration at her clumsiness.

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP33)
Monday January 13th, 2014 2:24:42 PM

Zeoll introduces Magana as well.

"Captain Coerr, herre is a worrthy and brrave taurr who was most helpful to us in capturring Annoirr. Who was then executed by the local Stallion, we werre told."

The old liontaur grins. "But you know what they say -- if you see the body, he might stay dead. If you don't, count him as alive and kicking!"

Magana approaches when Zeoll calls to her, and gives a carefully respectful nod to Captain Coerr. "At your service captain, though I expect I'll be more useful as an anchor for your ship than as a crew member! I've not traveled the seas but for a few times as a paying passenger."

Thankful that Zeoll introduces him to the captain, Aexana returns courtesy by offering her services also. Not knowing the crew yet Aexana doesn't sense any anger with the crew (sense motive 9).

Once the ship sets sails Aex wonders what she would be best at... a gnome hauling barrels just sounds crazy... having her navigate will get the ship lost without a doubt... but climbing... ah now that's something she can do!

"... euhm... did I tell you I can change shape?! ... "

And with that being said, Aexana's already small body convulses and shrinks even more! In just a split second a tiny monkey stands where Aex stood.

With a climb speed of 30ft Aexana (monkey) has no trouble at all climbing the ropes. Unable to speak in animal form, the tiny monkey cries for Jozhur whenever she sees something wrong...

Once the sails are checked Aexana enjoies the wind and view from the top of the mast.

Kane' is TRULY thankful to see the large form of Coer, the minotaur captain of the Lionfish! "Captain Coer, we succeeded and Captain Annoir is dead; executed by the centaurs of Fort Stag for traffiking in blue wine. We have also found two more able crew in Magana Ma'am and Aexana Ma'am" (indicating the powerful white female minotaur and the exotically coloured diminuitive lady gnome respecitvely).

In navigating the Lionfish the BloodWitch can hardly go wrong. The blood of his ancestors sing though the half-elf as he confidently strides about the deck. Whatever has happened in the last months, the Lionfish and adventure have been changing the formerly incredibly meek ex-slave.

Kane' lends a task to all the sailors' skills, his long-dead family grounded him well in the profession. The only thing the half-elf avoids is cooking, the small dancing flame in the metal cook-box reminding him too much of the great fires on Centaur Isle that had nearly engulfed them all.

Spire had just returned from vomiting off of the edge of the Lionfish when Aexana posed her question. "Bonetown is... an interesting place," he says cautiously. "We have a house there, a rather large one, looked over by our friends, Brothers Engev and Lansel, clerics of Pantheon. I landed there some time ago on the Lionfish and since then, well..." He looks around the table, smiling sadly. "Many have come and gone. But I am glad to be sitting here with the lot of you!" He raises a glass and takes a large swig before running back on deck to once again vomit over the edge.

DM Rob - What dreams may come
Tuesday January 14th, 2014 11:18:10 PM

Zeoll - though still relatively new to the crew - gets a sense that the mood is low amongst the crew. He gently pokes and prods around, but can find no one instigator of trouble. He sings a song noting the ship is headed for gold. Will it be hoarded by the captains again, or shared with the crew? Time will tell.

Zeoll does notice that he draws a number of sideward glances from crew members that are working hard to keep the ship running. That they should break their backs yet he walks around with a pocket full of gold. At least the other 'captains' are pitching in.

Coer is a welcome sight for the gang, and introductions are quickly made for the newer members of the group.

Kane' sets a true course for the ship, yet that night he has a restless sleep. His dreams are particularly vivid. One moreso than the rest.

The witch sees himself standing upon the surface of a lake surrounded by tall fir trees. Though he can feel the wind blow and gently brush his hair not a ripple forms on the water's surface. It is completely flat - as if made of glass - and perfectly mirrors the trees surrounding it. Looking downwards Kane' can see a perfect reflection of himself.

Kane's attention is drawn to a bird flying directly towards him. A dove of purest white with eyes the color of the sky on a clear summer's day approaches with wings astretch. It glides in slowly and gently touches its feet to the water to stand before Kane'.

The bird's feet cause ripples on the water, and Kane' can see images begin to form. He sees Jozhur and Magana sparring on the deck of the Lionfish. Magana penetrates Jozhur's defences and lands what appears to be a soft blow to the rogue. Jozhur laughs and holds his side, but then grimaces. Something is wrong. He collapses to his knees and then falls forward, unmoving. The image disappears. The water is still once more.

The dove cocks its head as it judges Kane's reaction, then dips it's beak to the water causing more ripples. This time Kane' can see the entire party in combat. He cannot see who or what the enemy may be but he can see the group fight as a whole - and fight well. His focus is drawn to Jozhur. The rogue ducks and weaves with his dagger, apparently hitting his foes. Suddenly Jozhur spasms and clutches at his back as he is struck from behind by an invisible foe. The rogue fights on but another unseen blow is too much. Kane' sees Jozhur drop his knife and again fall. The image fades.

The dove looks directly at Kane' and he feels as if its gaze is piercing to his very heart. Somehow he finds he knows its unspoken message - he MUST protect Jozhur.

Understanding that its message has been understood, the dove takes flight - directly towards Kane'! Before it can touch him, however, he awakens in his bunk.

For everyone else, the night is uneventful.

----------------------------

Kane: You have been called upon to perform a service for your allied power. For the duration of this entire module you must heal Jozhur within 10seconds (ie: 2rounds) of him taking any damage - lethal or non-lethal. Per the witch writeup, failure to do a service for your allied power can see you lose your granted powers until atonement is made.

----------------------------

OOC: Sorry for my absence yesterday folks. As Cayzle and Mark have mentioned, we're having a heatwave here in south east Australia, and bushfires knocked out the local power for 8hrs yesterday. Not fun trying to keep two kids (under the age of 6) cool and comfortable on a 40'C (104'F) day without aircon or fans!

Jozhur kicks himself when he realizes the crew are grumbling about not being paid.

"My goodness, we do intend to keep you paid. We just forget about the business end of things around here. Here's your pay then, likely with a large bonus as we haven't sat down to figure it out, 50 gold pieces each."

"And Tula, feel free to speak up if we are neglecting the crew in any way."

Jozhur pulls a pouch out of his backpack and counts out 50 coinns for each sailor.

Kane' wakens in the morning, his dreams still vivid in his mind. "La kaua ko'u Akua Lono!", he breathes. After ensuring that Jozhur is Okay, he rushes to the deck of the ship as if expecting to see the dove. A dream from the Shadowlands, but the half-elf's duty is clear!

As the multi-colored gnome asks about Bonetown, Kane' feels a little sheepish. "Aexana Ma'am, it would be Coer, Spire, and Jozhur who would give you the best knowledge of Bonetown. I have only spent a single night in the town, and that was in the House that Spire tells. Zeoll less than a day and Magana has never been to the nest of pirates before."
