With stomachs full of fried food and good beer everyone leaves the tavern, helping Brom bring the 400lb boar back to the WLA. After cleaning the pig up it is raised over a giant spit and slowly roasted all day and all night, the sweet scent carrying throughout the city. Artus takes it upon himself to personally stand by the fire, slowly turning the meat. By the time of Ceri's feast word has spread across the city and the hall is packed to the point that citizens are waiting in the street to congratulate Ceri and share in the feast and festivities that are sure to follow.
That evening many speeches are given and toasts raised to the minotaur's health and the prosperity of the WLA. Brom is honored for protecting the city from the hairy menace and for supplying the trophy boar for the feast, and all the League Adventurers' are applauded for their role in bringing the Captin back to Rum safely. As food is served an impromptu celebration breaks out in the streets with all number of street musicians and performers putting on a show for a few coppers in their cap.
A few of the League Adventurers' try asking questions of the citizens, but find it hard to learn much above the din of the celebration. The only thing of note that is able to be learned is that there are no gangs robbing shopkeepers, the shopkeepers we acting preemptively in hiring protection after the sudden battle a few weeks prior alerted them to how vulnerable they actually were.
The celebration goes long into the night, fortunately Ceri has no pressing work for you in the morning. The next several weeks pass by quickly and consist of dealing with and putting out minor fires and being a general help in the city. Over this time a new patter of life emerges. Every morning Ceri is waiting at the table reading letters from friends in New Elenna or requests for help from local groups with minor problems throughout the city. If there is anything important or any work to be done she shares the information with the group over breakfast.
The most notable event of the last several weeks was the recent discovery of "leviathan shrimp" not far from the coastline. These delectable 25- to 50-pound creatures are succulent and taste great either fried or sauteed in butter. Immediately after the discovery the owner of the Squid's Ink invited the League Adventurer's over for a free round of beer and all the shrimp you can eat in exchange for their feedback on his new recipes.
Today Ceri waits until you are all at the table before unrolling a piece of parchment and laying it down. I have been asked to have you look into the disappearance of three fishing boats that vanished over the course of the last week. Barnacle Jane, Captain of Calypso's Cry said she will be waiting by the docks for your response.

Enjoying the feast .... Peza makes sure to meet and greet as many as the locals as possible .... good neighbors make good friends .... not to mention a good source of infomation ....
At breakfast when Ceri doles out the infomation ... the raven haired girl asks " will we be taking the Seasprite ?? or maybe we should take a local fishing boat and be discreet ... if its pirates they would avoid the Seasprite ... or maybe something from under the water ... like the nasty's we encountered on our trip to Rum "
During the several weeks of minor work .... Peza makes good use of her time .... taking it upon herself to start a list of the protection groups ... visiting each group .... being as diplomatic as possible .... the twilight ranger tries to make agreements with them to both help them and recieve help if needed ... not to mention the benefit of a better defense of Rum from unknown powers ;-) to help defend the citizens of the growing city
Taking the owner of the Squids ink up on the free beer and shrimp .. the girl gives her opinions on the selection of receipes .... her two favorites are the shrimp with spicy pepper sauce ... the other is coconut and sweet sauce .... a good contrast depending on her taste for the day

As the week passes, Harvest Moon spends less and less time in the compound of the Woldian League of Adventurers. Most of the day is spent at the site of her new home near the ferry dock. The nights, in their entirety are spent there as well. It is the mornings that are different. Every morning, Harvest Moon comes in from the inner shore to sit with League Commander Ceri and go through the correspondence of the day. There is usually little of great consequence, but Harvest Moon takes notes in her journal, and this, in and off itself, begins to become something of a narrative, a log of the daily life of Rum.
This day, however, is different than the rest.
Missing boats mean missing crew. Several handfuls of men and women who's lives have been ... removed ... to a place unknown. Possibly dead. All of this in the space of one week. There is real danger here.
But who is this Barnacle Jane? Why is it she who takes the lead in such a dire moment as this? The obvious answer is to meet with her and find out. But, as Harvest Moon rises to leave for the docks, she considers what she knows of the personages of Rum.

Brom takes the accolades in stride. For him it was more for the challenge then anything else. It was a good fight and he had fun. He doesn't enjoy retelling the tale to those that ask. Each time the boar gets a little more ferocious and he finishes of the tale by brandishing the tusks.
"Leviathan Shrimp!?" He says. But the sound of giant shrimp didn't sound like much of a challenge to the barbarian. Perhaps if the shrimp were giants, other things they might find would be too. Brom gets a smile as he thinks about what giant sea monsters he would find.
Barnacle...Broms tries to envision what would cause a woman to get that name. He pictures all sorts of hideousness - giant warts and other facial growths run through his mind. It is enough to make the stout barbarian shudder with at the thought.

A wild boar roast and a party. Things were going well. The amount of people around the WLA compound to welcome the new captain was a bit much for the more reserved minotaur. Barratore was simply not the center of attention or life of the party type of person. Most minotaur were not. Barratore dons his armor and weapons, the last great celebration did not go off so well. Barratore, though is not playing at being a guard and any such thing. Hopefully the mere display of might will act enough the deterrent.
The boar was good, the ale better and the fighter does what he can to take it all in and enjoy the party. It was the another part of what life to him was about. Living and having a good time. When music, food and ale was combined, it was always a good time.
In the weeks that follow, Barratore falls into a pleasant enough of a routine. A brisk early morning workout, breakfast, meeting with the captain, a walk or patrol of the city, lunch, workout, nap, dinner workout and follow up with anything of interest with the others. As several others are staying more locally to the immediate neighbors, Barratore makes his movements through the city to purposefully interact with other neighborhoods.

Over breakfast you find your minds fill with the events of the past few weeks. Brom dreams of fighting the bore and wishes the Leviathan Shrimp could put up more of a fight and provide better souvenirs while Gerox cannot help but think of the young gnomish girl he met at the feast. She said she was a traveling singer named Caramip who was gathering tales for her ballads and who seemed to drawn to his stories of ambitious plans, no matter how ludicrous or fantastic they had been.
As Gerox thinks about her flaxen hair Peza makes a mental list of the protection groups she had gotten the chance to meet. Most notable among them the The Dogfish and the Blue Lobsters.. While other groups seemed to be on a state of flux as shop keeps and residents negotiated over prices and argued over what rules would be enforced, those two groups appeared better organized and wore distinctive purple or blue sashes or headbands to make themselves more recognizable. Although they were little more than ambitious teenagers looking to make some spare coin, their visible presence and reputation for fairness having become the standard by which all other groups were judged.
Just as the conversation is turning to the Squid's Ink and the shrimp with spicy pepper sauce, coconut and sweet sauce, Ceri relays the information on the job to you and the raven haired girl suggests taking a ship other than the Seasprite to investigate. It is thought about for a minute, but the consensus is that it would be better to talk to Barnacle Jane before making any plans. Harvest Moon records everything in her journal and recalls what she can about the their would be employer. Despite her rough name, Barnacle Jane is a tall and beautiful woman with flowing red hair and her ship, Calypso's Cry, was known for the unusually high number of women sailors it employed...well not so much the number of women as the captain's willingness and ability to take in young women with little or no skill and make them some of the finest sailors on the island. Harvest also recalls hearing that many of the captains of smaller vessels looked out for each other and set money aside in case of an emergency...nothing as formal as a guild, but enough to provide peace of mind.
News of the missing ships has Barratore at his full attention and looking to Peza to officially inform the Captain they would look into it. "When do we leave? What'd we need?" Brom asks as he tries to envision what would cause a woman to get that name. He pictures all sorts of hideousness - giant warts and other facial growths run through his mind.

Everyone will know everyone. It will be hard to keep it secret for long. Also most fishing vessels are pretty small. Tough to conceal some of our group easily." He glances over at Barratore and Brom.

Gerox quickly shifts his mind away from the gnomish singer to the job at hand and is quick to point out that while the SeaSprite may be recognizable it would be hard to keep their using a different vessel a secret and a smaller ship might not conceal Barratore and Brom very well.

Leviathan shrimp. What has been but a curiosity up to now is, for Harvest Moon, a thing of interest. It is possibly a thing of danger.
More than anything, however, the sudden appearance of such large creatures remembers Harvest Moon of the Beastlords. But what could be their end in this? Why create such large shrimp? Shrimp are the food of many many creatures from fish to birds. Then again, there are various kind of shrimp that are quite dangerous in and of themselves.
She considers whether such crustaceans of unusual size have been reported elsewhere in the Wold. If not, it would be fairly safe to assume that they have been created here recently, whether through natural processes or through magical creation would then be the question.
"You are Murag," blurts out Harvest Moon at the burned man, even as she considers the origins of the Shrimp. "What is your group? And what is it that you were sent to find?"

Edson and Zalmay introduce themselves to the Captain before the half-orc sorcerer asks about the leviathan shrimp, something Harvest Moon had also been thinking about. Aren't they just fantastic! Jane says, once again clapping her hands together. They were only recently discovered. A new species only found around Rum. It has been a real boom for business, but I don't think people would steal a ship for them. Honestly, they are easy enough to catch, you just drop your nets and haul them up by the boat load. It would be easier for a pirate to just to catch them themselves...If you want, I can show you on my charts where we have been fishing.
Harvest Moon nods as the Captain speaks and compares what is said to what she knows. She cannot recall the shrimp being found anywhere else in the Wold. They are too large to be eaten most fish or birds and are unlikely to have too man predators, but they are perfect for humans. Easy to harvest, tasty and nutritious. Since Rum was until recently an unexplored land, it is impossible to tell the origin of the shrimp, but given their size and numbers she suspects they are natural resource of Rum that were waiting to be discovered.
Brom heads with the others to the docks and waits to get on board once Captain Jane give the go ahead, but he has to pause when Harvest Moon blurts out "You are Murag, what is your group? "Hmm... if the shrimp aren't all that valuable... is there anything else in the area that somebody might want to protect? Smuggling routes or something like that?"
Zalmay takes another look at the other half-orc. He knows better than anyone else not to buy into the stereotypes... but Flower? There must be a very interesting story behind this...

Just as it appears weapons might weapons might be drawn and blood shed Murag identifies himself as a member of the WLA with more than a little skill in that art of healing who was sent to look after Ceri and the League Adventurer's when it became known the group lacked such skills among their own ranks. Harvest Moon tries to study the scarred half-orc and determine if he was being deliberately misleading or perhaps had issues speaking the common tongue. She is unsure, deciding it was likely a little of both, but that it would be better not to be so presumptive of another member of the league. Introductions are quickly made and Murag is invited to join the group on their investigation.
Turning the conversation back to that of the Leviathan Shrimp, Gerox asks if the ones being caught are young or adults. They are adults. Jane says with confidence. Some of the females carry eggs under their tails, which is how we know they are fully grown. The only other thing of value on the ships are the ships themselves, but I would imagine a cargo ship would be more profitable if there were pirates in the area. As for your more creative ideas, we have never seen mermaids, giant intelligent shrimp, and a giant sea monster would have left debis behind if it was destroying ships. Turning to Zalmay she adds, If there is a smuggling route we know nothing about it. Perhaps if you explore the area they were fishing in and the surrounding islands you can find some clue as to what happened.

"Murag ready to go, I ask Flower for spells to help while on ship today." The cleric looks at the group with a satisfied smile. He is finally with a group he thinks will accept him. The party has many races represented and a Half Orc already. True Zalmay could almost pass for human but it's something.
"Murag should tell you that I not, err, normal healer. Flower let me heal like all devoted do, but she also let me take your pain and make it mine. Murag see you get hurt and than Murag can take the hurt. It easier to heal that way. Me don't have to come to you." He says, again with a crooked toothed smile.

When one does not know of a thing, it is sometimes instructive to examine the things that surround it. In such an examination, of everything that is not the thing, sometimes the shape of the thing is revealed within.
"We have heard that three fishing boats disappeared within the space of one week," says Harvest Moon in preface of her questions. "Can you tell us what days they disappeared? Did they each disappear on a different day? Or did more than one boat disappear on the same day? Does each shrimp boat have its own territory? Or do they simply roam an area? How many boats are there that fish for these Leviathan Shrimp?" Harvest Moon brings out her book of maps and opens to the page that contains the map of the island of Rum. It is the same one that she drew when the League Adventurers mapped the island, and, eventually, discovered The People.
"Where is this fishing area in which the Leviathan Shrimp were found?" she asks. "And how large does it seem to be?"

Edson cringes when mentions he can take others pain and make it his own. He thinks to the beatings him and his friends have endure since he joined and believes Murag is in for a ride. He extends his skinny arm to the burnt man, "Edson Kazil" he says. "The looks of the group."

Posing a last question to Barnacle Jane ... " are there any current shrimp boats in the area now ??"
"Ok lets make our way to the Seasprite ... and set course for the shrimping area's "
" If you want to bring anything make it quick ... we sail within the hour " adds Peza as she starst to the docks

Brom nods to the new healer as he introduces himself. "Name's Brom. I fight. It's what I do. Healing's what you do? You do it good then we'll be great friends."
He raises an eyebrow at Murag's description of his healing. "Uhh..." He starts has he looks over the cleric. "You sure you can take Brom's damage. I take a lot. Not as much as I give. But I take a lot." He says with a doubtful tone in his voice. "But...if you think so...what Brom said before stands. You keep me standing and we be great friends." He shrugs at Barratore with a skeptical look.
Brom turns and heads to the Seasprite.

Barratore straightens, accepting Murag's answer and folds his arms across his chest. While the questions fire fast and furiously, he turns his gaze out to the waters and the pier with the Sea Sprite. Open adventure awaited, unknown perils, and the vast open sea. The minotaur, despite his early reservations, was finding the sea calling to him and that he was responding in kind. What grand adventures he could have as a captain, sailing without borders, without lords, but to wherever the wind and his will might take him. Perhaps to the very edge of the Wold itself and beyond. Could you sail into the very stars? Was that how Alemi, Domi and the others did it?
Perhaps some reading into those books Harvest seems to enjoy so much would be in order.

"OK, this is a reach... but I wonder if our mysterious enemies might be making trouble at sea to lure us out there. They made their last move against us on the water... OK, yeah, that is a pretty big reach..."
Zalmay heads back to gather his gear and get ready for another boat ride. He wonders if Murag will offer to be seasick for him...
Gerox Shale ac 13 TA 13 FF 11 CMD 13 hps 52/52 Tuesday March 18th, 2014 4:59:07 PM
Gerox nods to Murag, and says while smiling, "My goal is to never need healing. Hopefully I won't be bringing you to much pain. Because if I do, it means I am in pain to and have discovered that I am allergic to pain. Don't like it, no sir."
Gerox summons a horse, hops up on it and follows the others back to the Sea Sprite. "I guess we will find out what is out there in time. I am sure it is a trap but you have to wonder if they know what they are trapping!"
