[The crafting rules are currently undergoing their one-billionth revision. But as far as I know, your crafting was successful, although you only had a couple of days. You didn't have enough time to finish the headband.]
Once the professors leave, it is clear that Pen is anxious about the treants. "The Trading Post can't afford to have them as enemies, so I'd like you to find them and talk to them. Find out why they are supporting D.A.R.E., and if possible, make them change their minds. At least try to get them to remain neutral. I'm not sure how many treants live in these jungles, but it's probably quite a few."
But, as Ragnarök points out, you don't know where treants can be found. "I'm not sure where to look," Pen confesses. "The trouble is, we haven't been here that long. Do you know of anyone who has been in this area longer?"

You all easily catch the DM's hint, and realize that a good first step in finding treants is to talk to Auntie's tribe of friendly kobolds. So, you make your preparations and leave the trading post.
Using the same boat you used before, you begin making your way down river. You reach the waystation closest to Auntie's village without incident, and tie up your boat on the quay. Now, of course, you need to find Auntie's village. Before, you had a guide, but now you need to find it for yourselves.

You collect some flowers for Trinawii, digging up most of them so they can be re-planted.
Kk'Ssyr meets you bright and early the next day. "Time to go," she agrees with Ragnarök. And off you go.
She sets a moderate pace, one you can easily keep up with. She leads you on slender paths through the undergrowth. Some, especially those nearer the village, seem to be paths the kobolds themselves use; you can see numerous kobold footprints on them. Later, you move onto rougher game trails, which are difficult to follow, and in some cases difficult even to discern. It is warm here in the jungle, and the insects are numerous.
About midday, Kk'Ssyr motions you to silence and leads you over a small rise. In a little dell below is a tall, beautiful cedar tree. "This Trinawii tree," Kk'Ssyr whispers.

Near the edge of a clearing sits a young 1/2-elf dressed in an odd type of armor, one made of pieces of rhino hide. He carries a shortbow, but interestingly enough he carries no other weapons. His hair is blond, but he has a beard that's made of orange and black hair... His hands look rough, and they are so toughened that his fingers look almost like claws. To his left is a young tiger, albeit almost 200 lbs of pure muscle but young nonetheless.
He too appears waiting for something, likely the dryad and as the group nears him, he stands up, nods at his companion and looks at the party. He remains near the edge of the woods while the tiger moves into the underbrush and disappears from sight...
He peers at each person in the party, appearing to gauge the potential threat or appearance of anger... Then to no one in particular, he says, "I'm Yeshua son of Thar, and what's your business in this grove? Are you here to see the dryad and if so, I mean you no harm." Obviously he's a 1/2 elf of little words...

Hearing no response from the dryad, you resign yourselves to a bit of a wait. After all, there's no telling whether dryads measure time as you do.
It isn't until he speaks that you notice the man at the edge of the clearing. He has a tiger with him, and he asks you your business.

"No, I'm sorry I didn't bring flowers to the dryad, but she seemed very nice to talk to. Truman and I have been traveling through the woods, and encountered her. She didn't have a lot to say but this seemed like a good spot to relax and spend the night. We woke up a bit ago and then saw you coming. Where are you headed and it seems you have business with her?"
He shares their story, and it can be summarized as, "Yeshua is the son of That ail Baerer, a retired elven ranger/cleric from Blackbird Lake, and his human bride, Helena. The two retired at Ust Delmah, and Yeshua spent his childhood playing in the forests and trees of the surrounding wild lands. His father had traveled to many differently planes and lands in his adventuring years, so Yeshua inherited both his love for traveling and being a ranger/scout.
In one of his travels a few years ago, he was ambushed by a group of viscous orcs. Though he managed to kill most of them, he was eventually overrun and severely injured. He continued to fight, thinking that he would fight to his last breath, but a tiger cub appeared from the nearby brush and fought to aid Yeshua. Once the orcs were slain, the cub, later named Truman, watched over Yeshua until he managed to heal himself. He eventually learned that this tiger cub's mother and father had also been slain by the band of orcs, so Truman had no where else to go. Both were apart from their parents, and this shared experience bonded them together, and since then, the two have been inseparable. In a way, they've bonded even stronger than a ranger and companion would normally be. "

A matching tunic with a yellow-gold embroidery of a "Z" set atop a triangle on the left side of his chest. His skin has a bluish tint, but various marks across any exposed remain as black as the night itself. Most of these being thin lines, or circles, are obviously scars from past injuries.

Toregan explains about D.A.R.E. and asks Trinawii where treants might be found.
Yeshua and Faust greet Trinawii in common; Yeshua is also curious about the group's history with D.A.R.E.
Trinawii replies in Common, perhaps realizing that not everyone here speaks Sylvan. "You want to find treants?" she asks hesitantly. She seems just to be making sure that she understands you correctly. "You want to find treants and make peace with them?"
When you assure her that, yes, this is indeed what you want, she looks undecided for a moment. Then:
"Yes," she says. "I know where the treants are, and I will tell you how to get there. But if I do this, you have to do something for me. You have to ask the treants what became of my little sister."
She explains, "Mywhyrr is not really my sister, of course; dryads don't have sisters. But her tree was just over that rise," she points westward, "and we used to visit each other often. Then one day I went to visit Mywhyrr and she wasn't there. She was gone, and her tree was gone. There was no trace of her tree--no stump, or roots, or anything--just churned-up ground."
"Treants are the only ones I know of who could move a tree like that. They are tree-herders, and they can cause a tree to uproot itself and move--slowly, but it moves. But why would they do that? Why move a dryad's tree from its safe place, making the dryad go along with it? This is what I wish you to ask of the treants. Promise to do this, and I will tell you where they are."

You sympathize with Trinawii's plight, and some of you have questions for her.
Yeshua asks how long ago Mywhyrr disappeared, and whether there were any signs of what had happened. Trinawii thinks about it for a moment. "I do not know how your kind measures time," she says at last. "Before winter, before summer, after winter." She shakes her leafy head at the next question. "I do not track as a hunter. I do not know."
Toregan expresses his doubts that Mywhyrr's disappearance was solely the treants' doing, and Ragnarök asks what D.A.R.E. may have done to entice the treants to their side. "I do not know," she says. "Treants' needs are simple, I believe. Water, soil, sunlight. Air. The same for the trees they tend. Balance and good health. Forgive me, but in my experience your kind cannot offer these things." She smiles. "Though I do appreciate the gift of flowers. It was well-thought. Please help me to plant them before they die."

Trinawee, but if you have any further information on what treants might enjoy, care for, hold dear or really, anything that may aid us in understanding how they think, it would be all the most precious. Otherwise, even if we speak their tongue, we might be unable to truly have a conversation as our views of life and the world are likely quite far apart."
"To say nothing of how D.A.R.E. should already have painted us as merciless woodsmen who want nothing but burn the whole jungle down to make way for a massive cobblestone-paved city, which couldn't be further away from the truth.", says Faust, as he gets ready to replant the saplings near Trinawee, should she allow and enjoy the gesture.
I'm once again assuming it'd be a Knowledge (nature) roll for that, so I'll be taking a 10 for it.
Yeshua (Ken) and Truman Tuesday March 18th, 2014 8:54:08 AM
Yeshua nods and asks her if she'd point out where her dear sister was originally rooted... This will at least help him get started on tracking where she could have went...
He nods at Faust's wise questions, wanting to know more about these treants and their potential motivations...
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 19/15/14 -- CMD 23 -- HP 51/51 Tuesday March 18th, 2014 6:05:57 PM "I'll help you with them." Toregan helps collect the flowers and helps replant them.
[b]"Faust is probably right." Toregan says as he works with the flowers. "D.A.R.E. most likely convinced the treants that we are going to end up completely destroying the forest. Our best chance is probably to convince them that we don't plan on expanding much, since it really won't be that popular a trade route with all the dangers that live along it. We've only got one small town and a trading post in the entirety of the forest, and I doubt that any other settlements will manage to start up.

Rag too agrees with Fausts idea on why the treants attacked them. Before heading out, the Monk aids to plant the flowers they brought.
DM Kathy Tuesday March 18th, 2014 10:22:42 PM Faust, Toregan and Ragnarök all assist in planting new flowers around Trinawii's tree. She sits on the ground nearby, watching you and smiling.
During the planting, Kk'Ssyr approaches you, still keeping a wary eye on Truman. "Trinawii talk to you," she says, "and now you go to treants. I go back to village; tell Auntie. Highlight to display spoiler: {May all the spirits guide you}," she adds in Draconic.
Faust asks what might motivate the treants, but Trinawii doesn't know. "They care for the trees, and the wild places. This is all that I know," she says.
Faust and Toregan float a theory that, rather than bribing the treants, D.A.R.E. probably convinced them that the Trading Post and town were a threat. Yeshua concurs, and really, it's as good a theory as any.
At Yeshua's request, Trinawii leads you over the small rise and into a lush grove of trees. She points to an empty spot in the middle of the grove. "This is where Mywhyrr's tree was," she says.
You look around, but it's been over a year. Any signs that may have been left have long since been erased by rain and wind and the passage of animals.

While the others negotiated with the dryad, Yngvar wandered about the glen, admiring the natural setting. You know, nature magic has always been studied as having a divine source. And yet arcane magic is also of the world. I can see a connection between the life in this glen, and the harmony of that life.
Pulling out a notebook, Yngvar starts making some notations this bears further consideration.
It's obvious that he has become pre-occupied and forgotten why they were there in the first place.

Yeshua and Truman look around the area, unsure of what to do next since they can't find any tracks? (OOC - Kathy, did I read that correctly, that we couldn't find any? I can roll if needed if I misread your DM post... Also, is this considered "Jungle" or "Forest" terrain?)
He ponders the idea for a moment and then considers how best to find out what direction it might have went... (Know Nature Yeshua = 15; Know Nature Truman = 6'; Survival Yeshua = 35; Perception Yeshua = 25; Perception Truman = 27)
He also asks his friends, "Could there be residues of arcane or divine magic here, and can any of you check for that? If there aren't any tracks, then it'll be hard for my brother and I to figure out where to go next... Do you all have any suggestions as I'm running out of ideas..."

Toregan give the area a cursory search, not really expecting to find any signs of the abduction. "If I was more in tune with the forces of nature surrounding this place I might've been able to coax some answers out of the plants that live here, but my power is not strong enough to do so. Meeting with the treants seems to be the only course of action to find her."
DM Kathy Wednesday March 19th, 2014 10:22:51 PM
Once in the grove, Yngvar soon becomes distracted by new theories of magical power, and tunes out for a bit.
Yeshua and Truman take a look around, but after a year, there is no forest sign that can tell what happened to Mywhyrr. He and Ragnarök are puzzled how to proceed, having apparently forgotten the start of the conversation. :)
Za'Reed soon reminds them that Trinawii offered to tell you how to find the treants, if you will ask the Treants about Mywhyrr. Toregan agrees that this is probably your best course of action at this point.
So, Trinawii explains to you how to find the treants. It takes a little time; her understanding of what the jungle looks like is different from yours, and you find that you have to clarify many of the instructions she gives you. At last, however, you think you have a pretty good idea how to find the treants. You think it will take you a couple of days to get there.
"Remember," Trinawii says. "Return and tell me what the treants said about Mywhyrr. Even if they know nothing about it--well, that is something to know, anyway."
Kk'Ssyr has already departed to return to Auntie's village, and now Trinawii is ready to return to her own tree. If nobody has any other questions, the next stage of your journey can begin.

Faust, who was taking a look at the area nods back at Za, confirming what he just said, "Indeed, it's been far too long; magic residual rarely lingers for longer than a couple hours, much less months."
"But what ms. Trinawii said is based in truth and logic. There is simply no way for a tree to vanish without visible tracks without the use of magic, likely tree-animating magic. We've seen treants being able to do this, as mentioned, but I would also speculate that experienced druids or some other sort of natural spellcaster should have the ability as well. It's not too far of a shot from warping wood, which we have witnessed them doing once.", he says, walking back to the bulk of the group.
"Question remains as to why. From the description of it, it's a kidnapping, but why would a treant or a druid who wants to save the forest kidnap a fey, one of the closest to nature itself, no less.", he finishes, rubbing his chin while he closes himself in deed thought.

(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 19/15/14 -- CMD 23 -- HP 51/51 Thursday March 20th, 2014 9:24:26 PM "If the druids can do what the treants can, then we're in a lot more trouble than I first thought. As for why, I can't think of anything. Maybe try moved her to try and manipulate her, or manipulated her and got her to let them move her tree."
Toregan listens carefully to Trinawee's direction, memorizing and clarifying her descriptions. "I think we can find out way to the treants. You have our thanks Trinawee, and we will be certain to ask the treants about your sister."

Yeshua slaps his hand and groans, as he had forgotten the earlier part of their conversation. Truman frowns at his brother and snorts loudly as an attempt to be humorous...
At least they'll be able to make some progress by going to the treants, Yeshua thinks to himself, and he repeats his promise to their friendly dryad that they'll bring back word of her sister.
He listens to the directions too and once he has a clear understanding, asks his new companions, "So what sort of marching order do you all usually use? As I mentioned earlier, Truman and I have worked as scouts in the past for various groups and that's what we do best. In a fight, we don't use missile weapons very often and tend to be skirmishers, flanking and then attacking a foe..."
