Peza watches as the sea monsters life bleeds into the sea . " Whoa that was close ... I thought the Seasprite was in trouble ... " with a look at the fiery gnome " I hope it doesn't have any friends lurking about." The young girls concern goes unheeded as Brom feels his rage subsiding and stands victorious on the battlefield. As the ale comes up top Brom turns and smiles as he grabs three mugs, one for Barratore, one for himself, and one for Edson. "The first drink." He says raising his mug.
Barratore turns to face the rest of the group from the bow of the Seasprite, adrenaline still rushing through his veins. He plants a firm big hand on Edsons shoulder as he take a mug and raises it. "The first drink and Gargul has to wait another day!" He thunders and then tips the mug back and drains the entire thing.
Edson downs the ale provided to him. "The only thing Gargul is getting from us are the souls we send him." The elf pats both men on the back, knowing they did most of the work. "And a big thanks to our new ally for helping us stay healthy."
Murag raises it in the air and smiles "Good fight and good fighters. Murag glad he can help." He states before downing the mug in one gulp. "Squid make mess when it fights. If others take ship s maybe others make squid attack us to...." The half orc thinks hard for a few more moments. "To cover steps." He says finally.
Harvest Moon turns her head from where she squats next to the great four-foot section of severed tentacle lying on the deck. The others are happy. They revel. It is good to find satisfaction in one's chosen vocation. In this case, as protectors. There was a time in which she would have ignored them, finding their joys and delights not things that were to her taste and therefore irrelevant. But now, after nearly two years in social company, Harvest Moon knows that it would be ungracious of her not to join in. She reaches out once more to touch the smooth yielding flesh, the last traces of The Old One. Then she rises to join the others. There are earthen mugs, and Harvest Moon takes one. Of the rum she partakes, but mixes it with water - more water flavored with rum than the other way around. "First drink," echoes Harvest Moon, raising the clay mug.
She then relays what she has managed to put together about the creature. "The Old One was likely the only one of its kind," she says. "I think that there will be no more. She then speculates that the creature could possibly have attacked the other boats and expresses a desire to dissect the animal...something she might be able to accomplish if she hurries. DC 18 Heal or Knowledge Nature to dissect it before it sinks Highlight to display spoiler: { There is nothing other than shrimp in its stomach. From Harvest Moon's previous knowledge check you suspect it normally would hide from ships, but that it got caught off guard and you spooked it as it was feeding by dropping your net.}
As she examines the creature Murag scans the rest of the group to make sure he did not missed any injuries before turning his gaxe to the rubbery appendage and notices for the first time the perfect symmetry of the suction cups and the varied hue of the flesh. "Flower's beauty in all the creatures" he says to Harvest. "Sad to hear you say no more of creature around." He makes it to the barrel in time to get a mug of the rum.
As the others celebrate Zalmay looks around at the ship, wondering just how badly it's been damaged. He's no sailor... but those more knowledgeable than him don't seem too concerned, if they're breaking into the rum ration. "So I take it we won't have to walk home after all?"
Harvest Moon decides to go in for a closer look, and with a leisurely hop, she goes over the railing and runs along beside the SeaSprite. She has swum in the ocean many times since finding her way to the miraculous sea. Never, however, has she experienced walking upon it. While on the water, Harvest Moon runs around the ship, examining the damage. There are many things that she has read about the building of things, and she applies this knowledge to her assessment of the damage. The good news is that the ship is easily repaired, but it will take numerous hours of hard work and even with all hands set to the task and available magic directed to rapairing the damage it may not be complete before midnight.
As the repairs are done you find yourselves adrift and free. Artus does his best to maintain control of the the ship, but the strong current pulls the ship further out to sea to the point where you have little idea of your surroundings. Fortunately your ever skilled navigator is able to track the ships course through the sun and later the stars as you drift aimlessly beneath the scorching sun, and just as it begins to set you can make out in the distance the dim shore line of a small crescent shaped island.

What he had was a strong back and a very long reach. The day drifting was dull for the most part and hot under the sun on the open sea, but the ship was well supplied and crew able, so Barratore was never concerned about much. Peza's sharp eye spies land and Barratore nods with Brom. "Shore time." He gets his gear ready for an excursion.

The SeaSprite drifts slowly towards the cove as Artus shouts directions to the crew, both overseeing the ships repairs and maneuvering the crippled boat closer to the island. There is a loud splash as the remains of the splintered mast are thrown over board and a new one is brought up from below deck. It is smaller than the original, but will easily navigate the ship back to the Rum once it has been properly secured. Although the repairs are numerous, the progress is swift thanks to a skilled crew aided by the strength of the League Adventures.
Zalmay an Brom are excited about going ashore, and Barratore thinks out loud, "No closer to the missing ships though. Close by Peza points toward the shoreline and asks if the lifeboats to help tow the ship in or lead it to a safe spot to anchor.
As the others make plans Harvest Moon climbs the rigging once again to the crows nest to keep a vigilant watch for danger. She cautiously scans the distant shore line and notices several dark shapes, and as the SeaSprite drifts closer the shapes begin to take on form. Within a couple minutes she can clearly make out the shape of three fishing boats that have washed up on shore. As she announces her findings Artus decides it would be safest to take the life boats to the island, just in case there are rocks or a reef present below the surface.

Barratore strains to make out anything on shore as it is reported from the Crows Nest, but there is nothing new. Marching, or rowing rather, to shore as the sunsets is certainly not a sound tactic, but that is not his call. All three missing ships are here, but what of her crews? Did they abandon ship and the vessels drifted here? Taken and beached? A closer look would tell them more, but without light, it would need to be a very close look. The spell casters could easily arrange for light though. That type of thing was their job.
Barratore looks to Peza and then the others on deck. "I'm up for it if you are. Quick in and look about."

Harvest Moon tugs at Peza's sleeve. "I would like to see the ground at the beach around the stranded fishing boats," she says. "Knowing the tracks and the condition of the boats may help us prepare for what comes tomorrow. Do you not think it strange that all three of the missing boats are here? Upon this island? Upon this very beach? If the current is so strong that it brought both we and those ships to this beach, then there should also be many other things upon the beach, captured by the current and brought here. We will wish to know this. If there are no marks of violence upon the boats, then we must question whether the crew brought their boats here deliberately and ran them upon the beach. If so, we must ask why they would do this."
"I can run to the shore faster than a boat, I think." Harvest Moon gazes from the railing of the SeaSprite, estimating the distance. "I can also escape best in that way, as well. If ... " The half-elven girl looks then to Murag of Flower. "If you can give me the blessing of walking upon the water once again."
"If not ... " She nods to herself as the plan forms. "Can you shoot an arrow to the shore?" she asks of Barratore Steelwind. She has seen his bow. It is big and will likely shoot the furthest. "I will place a blessing of light upon your arrows. In this way, we might light places upon the beach upon which we might spy from here."
Even the darkness proves little match for the elf-born eyes of Harvest Moon. To her, the faint moonlight is as the day.

The group quickly looks the ship over for additional damage before finishing their drinks and heading to the life boats, all the while keeping an eye out for any signs of a struggle or an attack. Harvest Moon arrives on the shore about ten minutes before the life boats and she spends the time quickly scouting the shoreline and looking over the beached ships. In the dim light color becomes hard to differentiate, but she can easily make out the white crystals covering half the ship as the salt water dried and crystallized. She can tell the ships had capsized or taken on water, but not why. At least there is no indication of a giant squid attack or any sort of battle.
What bothers her are the countless foot prints in the wet sand, enough to belong to a small army...but as she studies them her keep eyes start to pick out patterns and repeating pathways, and soon she is able to deduce that they belong to a relatively small number of people. Most, if not all of the crew was still alive, and apparently they had disembarked and searched the other vessels before heading towards a curious cave-mouth, near which the odd stone formations of stalactite and stalagmite are abundant.

"Do you not find that strange? If you were wrecked within one day of great fishing grounds, what would you do? Were it me, I would camp upon the beach. Or find high ground and build a signal fire. Even were there a cave, I would not enter with the entire crew. I would leave at least one or two persons on the beach as watchers. If a boat should come near, they would not know to rescue us."
"This is queer and curious, and I would like much more to see the island in daylight before entering this cave. I think Brom is right. We should camp and await the dawn. We will be more powerful then. The crews of the fishing boats did not seem in danger when they entered the cave. I do not think there is urgency in this. Perhaps if we camp here, the crews will come out."

The League Adventurer's spend a few minutes discussing whether to spend the night ashore or explore the cave. Both sides provide good arguments, but in the end Peza agrees with Harvest Moon and Brom about spending the night in one of the beached boats and the everyone set to work setting up camp for the night.

I can make myself invisible, take a quick look around and then come out, none the wiser. Zalmay is quick to support the sorcerer's endeavor, but in the end Edson is able to convince the group that he can move about the cave more quietly and soon finds himself shrouded in invisibility and melding into the shadows.

Wood. For a fire. Near the mouth of the cave, Harvest Moon gathers wood for a fire as she simultaneously keeps eyes and ears open for Edson Kazil. Even with the magic of Gerox Shale she had noted the presence of Edson Kazil in the traces that he left. Even with the invisibility, he could not hide from her eyes.
And yet, after he had gone, the half-elfish girl could not keep her mind from wandering to the subject of maps. Where was this island? They were within a day's distance from Rum. That was certain. And if currents were so strong as to have swept four boats here, she could not have but imagined that this island must have been placed upon some map. She pondered the things that she knew of the geography of the area.
Even distracted as she was by her musings, the eyes and ears of Harvest Moon are indeed keen.

Brom is glad the others decided not to head back in the dark, but he is not happy with the location of the camp being at the mouth of the cave. Others may feel the same way, but if they do no one voices their concern. Close by Harvest Moon can be seen collecting wood for a fire. The beach forms a crescent and leads up to a rock ledge, perhaps a plateau or small mountain, but it is hard to tell in the dark night. There is plenty of wood to be found, and the druid girl notes that none of it originated on the island. Most of it is drift wood washed up on the island and bleached in the sun after its long journey at sea. She is sure it will burn hot and smokeless.
Her mind then turns to the geography of the island. She knows it is within a day's distance from Rum. At first she think that is the currents were so strong as to have swept four boats here the island must have been placed upon some map, but she knows the ships that explored the coast would not have traveled this this far from the main land and that the fishing boats were staying along the drop off. It was very likely these ships were the first of the settlers of Rum to find it. As for the island itself, she notes the island forms a 3/4 circle, perfect for trapping debris and possibly making transportation through the water hazardous at low tide. Picking up some more wood she notices notices several porous rocks on the beach around it and around the cave indicating it is likely that the inside of the cave will be honeycombed with passages.
By the cave Peza compliments Gerox work and warns Edson not to linger while Brom instructs him to call out if he needs help. As Edson leaves Gerox wait and listens by the cave entrance in plain sight of anything lurking within while Zalmay picks up a pebble and makes it glow before stowing it in his pocket, just in case. Brom then offers some friendly advice. "Don't get yurself spotted. I'm tired and not in the mood." He says to Edson before he heads off. "But if it happens, yell loud and run fast."
Murag then taps Edison and casts guidance on him and Gerox shrouds him in a blanket of invisibility. The rogue feels a tingle as the magic runs down his spine. He quickly steps to the side and watches the eyes of the group to see who follows. When none do he knows the spell is off. "I'll call out if I need help." He says to the group as he heads for the cave. He moves to the cave and scans inside, allowing his elven vision to take over. Every thing looks safe, and he enters cautiously.
Edson moves slowly in the darkness, mentally mapping his path through the cave. On either side he can see small tunnels and side chambers branching off the main passage, and every so often he can make out the footprints of people that passed this way before him...all moving forward and none returning. He follows the path for three minutes when he notices four statues in the center of the passage way. Three of them appear to be in the shape of women, surrounding the fourth statue, and with their hands over their eyes. His view of fourth statue is somewhat blocked by the other three, the one thing he can see is her hair. A mass of stone serpents frozen and poised as if ready to strike.

Barratore stares into the darkness, mostly towards the trees and the cave, but occasionally checking the direction of the sea as well. Plenty of things had tried to kill him from that direction, why not here as well. At some point, one of the others takes watch.
Barratore finds a spot in the sand on the surfside of the ship, so that it rests between him and the all but the open sea, and sits down. He puts his shield next to him, digs a small hole and puts an ever burning torch into it upside down and then fills in the hole so that only the handle sticks up. As you eat your cold rations and and the sea food Harvest managed to collect you try to make sense of what Edson had seen. Perhaps the women had once been living people, or perhaps they were well carved statues. No one is really sure, but the lack of foot prints heading out of the cave provide some feeling of safety for the group and soon Peza is directing everyone to set up camp for the night on one of the beached ships (there are no trees to climb up). Although there are some that would prefer to sleep in the Seasprite, the night passes uneventfully as Peza had expected. All too soon the sun can be seen rising over the distant horizon illuminating the mouth of the cave, but providing no new insight into what lays ahead.
ooc: If Harvest Moon wants to try to gleam new knowledge of the geography based on something she has learned or to answer new question she will need to make another roll. The first roll told you the cave was naturally formed, likely honeycombed with passages, and that the currents were likely responsible for bringing the beached ship into the cove. It als told you that the island is about a days journey from Rum and far enough from the coast that is is likely not on any map as of yet and out of view of the typical fishing lanes.

An uncharted island. Mysterious statues within a naturally formed cave. Sailors who have gone into the cave without having ever come out again.
It is best to face the mysteries of the Wold with preparation. With such in mind, Harvest Moon once again considers what she might glean from what she knows of the lands in this area. She considers also what she knows of all things and how it might have a bearing on this situation.
"You said that the statues were of women did you not, Edson Kazil?" asks Harvest Moon of the elf. "Did you note the clothing of the statues? Or the things that they held? What were their positions? What were their expressions?"
"Remember that Barnacle Jane is known for bringing to herself women, and making of them sailors. It is possible that the crews of these three fishing boats were students of Barnacle Jane. It would explain why she is so interested in these three missing boats."
The implication that the students of Barnacle Jane may in some way have been turned to statues is left unsaid. How that might be done is mysterious and unexplained.
Before entering the cave, however, Harvest Moon holds the rest of the League Adventurers back. Along with Murag of Flower, she performs a careful examination of the ground about the mouth of the cave. The tracks of the crew of the three fishing boats went inside. They did not come out. That, she learned the night before. But here, in the clear light of the sun, perhaps she could learn whether any other things or people have come or gone from this cave.
After that, along with Edson Kazil, the half-elfish girl leads the way into the cave. On quiet cat feet, she pads along one side of the tunnel, her sense trained ahead, more ears than eyes.

Barratore stirs and gets up with a great yawn and splashes some water on his face while Brom gathers his gear and takes his position to head into the darkness of the cave. As you form your marching order Zalmay suggests searching the boats more upon your return while Murag helps those who might be fatigues to fully recover.
Lastly, just before you enter, Harvest Moon once again puts her penetrating mind to the puzzle at hand. The statues of the women had their eyes and face covered, perhaps in sadness, but more than likey in fear of the stone monster before them. The were positioned in a ¾ circle around the mudusa like statue with one in front of it and one on either side, all facing the serpent haired figure.... "Remember that Barnacle Jane is known for bringing to herself women, and making of them sailors. It is possible that the crews of these three fishing boats were students of Barnacle Jane. It would explain why she is so interested in these three missing boats." The brown haired girl says. The implication that the students of Barnacle Jane may in some way have been turned to statues is left unsaid. How that might be done is mysterious and unexplained.
Harvest Moon is unable to learn anything more about the land, but suspects the lack of foot prints leaving the cave suggest that the land is either uninhabited or if something is in the cave, then it has not left in the cave in some time (perhaps months or years given the dirt / dust on the cave floor). She also suspects, based on her dungeoneering skills, that there is a good chance the tunnels of this cave become flooded from time to time after large storms. Fortunately there have been no such storms in a long time and the cavern is completely dry.
The half elf's mind is teaming with knowledge, but the rogue's description of the scene within the cave is not enough for her to draw any conclusions. She had heard of the Medusa in her travels, a human-like creatures with snakes instead of hair, whose stare could turn a man to stone at 30ft. They were said to be solitary creatures, fond of the bow and ranged attacks...then again they could be regular statues. Perhaps placed as a memorial, a warning, decoration, or to scare off intruders. Although the island appears deserted, her knowledge and experience of this part of the Wold have lead her to believe that many old things and people. Especially those related to the sea, had once lived in the area and long since died out. For some reason this is the type of place she could see the mythological Sea Hags hanging about, the type old sailors like to talk about.

"Only seeing them can cause you harm," warns Harvest Moon after informing the League Adventurers of Medusas and Sea Hags.
Will it work? It is such a simple thing. But one never knows until one tries. Harvest Moon pauses to take from her magic haversack a mirror. For a moment, she practices with the mirror, walking forward while looking only in the small field of view from the mirror to guide her way. It is difficult, seeing things backwards. But it will suffice.
"It is likely that there is something within these caves that also lives in water," adds Harvest Moon, also explaining about the occasional flooding. "Perhaps there are also other exits from these caves than this one. I think that is likely."
"What I do not understand," she says with a small perplexed frown, "is why the crews of the ships might all enter this cave. It is not a wise thing for them to have done."
Before entering the cave, Harvest Moon turns an eye to the sky. Is a storm coming? The weather is a simple thing for her to know. Then, moving forward with the way forward only visible in her mirror, Harvest Moon leads the way into the cave in search of the missing crews.

Brom listens to the morning conversation. It made sense, the interest Barnacle Jane had, but other than some kind of explanation, it was unimportant to the task at hand. But what was of interest was two things surmised by the mornings investigation of the cave - it filled with water during a large storm and something called a Sea Hag could live in there. The first, Brom was not fond of, but if Murag could help with that if the need arose the problem solve itself. The second was of less concern to the barbarian so long as the creature could be cut it could be killed.

As you prepare to enter the dark cavern Harvest Moon gives a word of caution, "Only seeing them can cause you harm," warns the half elf as she recalls the tales of Medusas and Sea Hags. As she speaks a plan begins to form. But it will suffice...
She then makes a quick glance up to the sky, reassuring herself the weather will remain as it is and the odds of the cave flooding behind you are next to nothing. It still bothers her that the sailors all left together. Perhaps they were not as brave as she was, fishermen who preferred the safety of numbers are were likely not skilled in combat or tactics.
Gerox takes Harvest Moon's advice to heart. "If we are fighting a medusa, then we need to be prepared to attack from a distance and not look directly at her...Maybe we can summon a creature to scout? However the group has put off exploring the cave long enough, and when she feels everyone is ready Peza gives the orders, "So Harvest and Edson take the lead .... "i'll be in the middle where i can support with my crossbow ... we'll walk in single file ... the rest of you step in where you each think is best "
Soon the group is falling in line, Murag fortifying the group, Brom preparing for battle and Zerox casting detect magic, but despite the groups amazing vigilance nothing if not is found as you push deeper into the cave. The passage is dry, and the occasional cobweb leads Harvest Moon to believe the that the last flooding was some time ago. On either side of you several paths branch off, some the size of a rabbit hole and others wide enough for two men to walk abreast, yet the foot prints all keep to the widest path. Suddenly the path opens into a large chamber and before you stand the four statues, each the size of a medium humanoid. The footprints around them indicate that the sailors spent some time examining the carvings before heading to the south.
Zalmay notes that the statues radiate no magic, but that doesn't make them appear any less sinister. It is hard to tell what is worse, the women with faces covered in terror or the sculpture of Medusa with the green streaked marble giving the sakes in her hair an eerily lifelike appearance.

While he knows that a statue of a Medusa is harmless he is still cautious not to meet the object's eyes. Perhaps it is that they are carved too perfectly. Clearly the fishers did not have her tactical sense. Beside her Barratore hold his tongue against the urge to call out into the cave complex, when you round the corner and the panicked voice of a young sailor calls out to you.
Don't blink!!! Your life could depend on this. Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and don't blink!
The sailor beside him calls out. Why didn't you call out to us before entering!!! For the gods' sake, watch behind you. I can't explain it. Those stone women are alive. They are stone when you look at them, but so much as blink and they can suck the life out of you.
Last to speak is the oldest of the sailors. Don't touch them either...not with your hands. I tried punching the cursed thing's head off. Pounded on it like there was no tomorrow. Not only did it not damage the statue, but every time I hit it the thing drained years off my life. Not that I realized it to after the fact.
Fortunately Zalmay has been keeping an eye on the path behind you, but the scene before you is one you will never forget. In the chamber ahead are numerous fishermen all looking straight ahead at a statue. Their eyes are red and blood shot as some try not to blink and others stare straight ahead, trying to only close one eye at a time. "I know!" cries out Harvest Moon. "They are of the Earth Peoples of the outer places. Distant relations to the Gargoyle Statues."
"They are protectors of an altar. They feed upon those who enter this place!"
"If you look upon them, their time slows such that they become as a statue. They are likely very hard and cannot be easily harmed. But they cannot move. We must hold them while the sailors escape. First is to hold them. We must pair one to one. One person to watch each statue and hold it in place. We have seen four so far. Maybe there are five."
"Go!" shouts Harvest Moon to the trapped sailors. "We will hold this one here by watching it. Go, slip around it while it is as a statue."
"We must proceed the sailors and carefully watch the other statues while the sailors escape. I will watch this one while the rest of you guide the sailors out."
"Gerox Shale, can you make us invisible so that we might watch it but it cannot see us? That is how we will finally escape. Once we are invisible, we can turn our backs to them and flee, but they will not be able to attack us."
"Go! I will hold this one." In preparation, Harvest Moon calls down a blessing. WHO could have conceived of such creatures as these, thinks Harvest Moon as the blessing of longer stride makes her even faster.

1) Statues are Helpless when watched. (Assumption.) 2) It takes one character to watch one statue. (Assumption. Maybe one character can watch more than one statue.) 3) If the statues are helpless, the sailors should be able to pass through this one's space while Harvest Moon watches. 4) As you encounter the other Statues on your way out, you will have to assign a character to watch each and immobilize it. 5) The remaining PC's escort the sailors out. 6) The PC's who stay to watch the Statues are turned invisible. One invisible, they can turn their backs on the statues and escape.

He keeps his sword at the ready knowing that these creatures stone flesh is no match for the adamantine edge of his blade. Barratore practically drops his sword. "What?" Barratore stares at Harvest and then at Peza. "We should what?" Barratore understood the words, but the the point behind them eluded him completely. Was it being suggested that by looking at statues they would be protected from attack from the statues. The stone, not moving, never moved, statues. Statues that can't be destroyed by, oh say, hitting them with an enormous piece of magically enchanted steel. Everything was simply well and far beyond his knowledge and experience.
Barratore still looks over to the others. This was stupid. Stare at statues. "They're statues. Of stone." Mid sentence though, the fighter decides. A leap of faith and trust was in order here.
"I have this one then." Barratore will stare at the statue by itself allowing the others to move past

Harvest immediately identifies the nature of the creatures and ponders WHO might be credited with their creation. Immediately she begins to stare down the statue before and calls to the sailors to move. Quickly a plan is hatched, although there is no way of knowing if the stone women can hear what is being said in their hardened state. Peza immediately seconds the plan and makes sure someone faces behind them at all times, even if it requires walking backward...but it is Edson who decides look up look up. He has no way of knowing if it is due to the creatures sheer strength or if it is an ability granted by its connection with the earth, but before him one of them stands hanging down from the ceiling about to drop on the group.
Suddenly one of the sailors calls back to the League Adventurers', What about the treasure here, in front of the alter? If you can get us out of here alive, its yours. I think I speak for everyone when I say its fair trade for our lives.

A dark line of blood stains the Clerics arm while Edson's own injury heals closed. Unsure if any of the other sailors have been injured the Half-Orc says a quick prayer to flower. Edson yells in pain, but Murag keeps him moving towards the mouth of the cave. Peza gasps, " you ok ?? ... don't stop"...yet despite Edson's injuries blood drops from the half-orc's arm pitter pattering on the cave floor. Feeling the Edson tense as the statue attacked Murag instinctively drew the injury to him. A dark line of blood stains the Clerics arm while Edson's own injury heals closed. He then says a quick prayer to the Flower and unleashes a healing wave of energy upon the group.
Ahead of him, in the distance, he hears Harvest Moon call out "There is one here," warns Harvest Moon. She looks about for another League Adventurer to which to provide Guidance, but finding no one in range provides it for herself. It is a fortunate thing that she does, for at that moment her eyes nearly blink. "Come! Hurry! Follow me," she calls and then speeds out into the greater chamber beyond with her eyes fixed upon the statue that she noticed until she is well past. Behind her the sailors follow her lead, staring at the frozen women in turn and in many cases gasping when she comes into focus and they realize how well concealed her stone body was...Even Zalmay whispers thanks to Harvest Moon as he retreats with the group, maintaining an unblinking gaze at his assigned statue.
Further back Barratore moves forward, keeping his attention and gaze where he was directed while Gerox too almost finds himself blinking but is able to stave off the urge and he widens his eyes a bit more."We need to hurry. These things are going to chew us up if we don't"

They must move more quickly. She heard the cry of pain from Edson Kazil. What had happened to him she can only guess. She herself, though hardened by a life of adversity, can feel the strain.
The Statues cannot attack what they cannot see. She had said that before. Equally, perhaps, they cannot attack what they cannot touch.
Harvest Moon spares a moment to place another blessing upon herself. This one draws a Shield of Domi to herself. It forms before her eyes, translucent, embossed with a delicate tracery in the shape of the Fist of the Laughing God. Then it fades to invisibility, though she knows it to be there, protecting her from harm.
"Follow me!" calls out Harvest Moon as she makes her way swiftly over the cave floor toward the exit. And then it happens. It is, perhaps, the breeze of her passage that dries her eyes. Who knows. But it is here that Harvest Moon blinks.

The entrance is near. It was here that they saw the first of the Statues. Beyond this point, perhaps, the sailors would be safe.
"Come! Follow me!" cries Harvest Moon. "The safe way out is here!"
Harvest Moon calls a blessing of Light and places it upon her single lock of hair that falls down over her forehead. It lights the darkness and presses back against fear. Then she moves past the Statue, toward the tunnel that opens into this Chamber of the Statues. Her eyes remain on the Statue that blocks the way until the sailors have moved past. Then she rushes to the entrance of the tunnel and looks within to see whether there are any Statues there.
Harvest Moon changes the direction of her gaze, holding watch now to the south where her fellow League Adventurers follow.
"You must watch too," she exhorts the sailors - all brave women to have made it this far. "You watch there. And you there. And you there." With points of her finger she directs each sailor so that they might hold the exit to the tunnel, awaiting the League Adventurers.

Everyone in the Wold is so focused on the numbers.
DM James I had assumed it was for RP reasons. I never even thought about age modifiers until it was mentioned in the LNB. Personally, I am drawn to story, RP and unique flavor in my characters and items. A quick glance shows The Rager missing. Edson Kazil as well. And Murag of Flower. But it is her job to lead the sailors to safety and it is a task that she will complete.

Barratore looks to Brom and then to the cave. It was a challenge, these strange creatures that shifted from unliving stone to vicious creature. The sailors for now were safe, but if 3 ships came here by the sinds and current, it stood to reason to Barratore that any other ship in trouble in these waters would arrive at these shores. "We need to end this threat, or else others will encounter these creatures and surely die."
Barratore looks at the rest of the WLA, "Send the sailors back to the Sea Sprite and the we go back in." The last part is said with perhaps more enthusiasm than some might appreciate
Zalmay Tufan (Andrew D.) AC: 18 (T 13, F 16), CMD: 17, HP: 61/61 Saturday April 26th, 2014 12:23:58 AM
Zalmay stares doubtfully back into the cave entrance...
"Can we just seal them inside? Collapse the cave somehow? Of course we have no idea how these things work... if they can dig or burrow their way out. And that treasure... how important is it? Maybe one of those sailors knows more..."

A sailor, hearing Zalmay's comments, speaks up. That depends, how important is gold is to ya. That there is more gold than I would likely see in a lifetime...

She has been snappish and irritable since the conundrum of why the crews of the fishing boats would have all entered the cave. Now, Harvest Moon rounds upon the sailor who suggests that the League Adventurers go back in to face the Statues in order to retrieve the gold.
"You are foolish!" chides Harvest Moon. With one hand upon a hip she wags an admonishing finger at the man. "We entered that cave for one reason. That reason was to save your lives. What use is gold if you have no life to spend it? And now you wish us to enter again? For what? Gold?" Harvest Moon spits.
"You, go to the SeaSprite. It is anchored off shore." With a tightlipped look of disapproval she turns from the foolish man, dismissing him with her demeanor. Then she turns to her fellow League Adventurer.
"Barratore Steelwind is right, I think. I know these Statues, Zalmay Tufan," she says. "They are of the demesnes of Earth. The Earth favors them. I think that, even were we to collapse the cave, they would find their way out. They are a danger, and we must slay them to keep Rum safe. I think also," she says with a frown, "that we must discover why it is that they are protecting this gold. All creatures are free to roam as they might. Why do these remain here? Is there a power that holds them to this cave? And if there is such a power, might it someday threaten Rum?"
"Yes. I think we must re-enter." Harvest Moon nods and then walks up the slope of the beach toward the cave. From her haversack she takes a pearl and wills it to recall her magic. "This time, though. We will go in prepared."
