Edenmoor
Thursday May 22nd, 2014 9:37:35 AM

The bustling town of Edenmoor is surrounded by a 20' high stone and earth reinforced wall. A second wall, 15' high and 10' thick, surrounds the original Fort Edenmoor now anchoring the north end. Edenmoor, for its size, is crowded. The last true staging area for goods headed west toward the Emerald Kingdom. Most roads still packed earth, houses are of timber and a constant din envelops you wherever you are. Those passing through always find the nights a bit restless, those who live here have either attuned themselves to the constant noise or have gone partially deaf. Livestock is the number one inhabitant of Edenmoor, outnumbering people by over 20 to one. Sheep, goats, horses, cattle, if it comes in herds and can be used by the guilds of Plateau City or the Emerald Kingdom, then you can find them in Edenmoor milling about.

Though you have not been to Edenmoor before, you sense that there is more people here than usual. Every inn and tavern is not only crowded, but they are exploding with people from all walks of the Wold. In just the 2 days since you arrived, you have seen every reputable race the Wold has to offer from all of the taurs, to gnomes and dwarfs. Unless it was a trick of the sun, a less than reputable race as well, drow. Only the swiftest of glimpses though and the dark elf was gone. The Mailed Fist is here in force as well. Recruiting, offering adventure and also just plain hiring extra hands for a wagon train. Security did not allow them to divulge when they would leave, but it was soon.

The western road calls, The Red Hills, The Culverwood, Izen, lands ripe with adventure, treasures, fame and discovery. Not to mention the chance to see first hand The Tree of Parting, The grandest of the Wolds natural wonders. It is said to be so high that clouds pass beneath its branches. So large, as to be able to contain an entire town amongst its sprawling canopy. A place of research and wonder. The offer from the Mailed Fist provides the perfect method of transportation with the caravan.

Hi there Mack. Link and sheet look good so far. I would recommend that you fill in you flat-footed AC row fully. Also, make sure you add a 'Monk bonus' column to your sheet to clarify where the bonuses come from. Reason is, when there is a condition that might effect it, it makes it faster to calculate, both for you and us DMs. It is fine to keep the 'Other' column mainly because, later, other things such as magic items can be added. You could even add a 'Magic' column to further organize.

And yes, closing links is useful. :) I still have issues with it myself.

After a couple days of adjustment, Atlas is finally regaining his composure. While filling his waterskin at one of the public wells he mumbles to himself, "It's no wonder that my life was so crazy before. All this noise and energy will drive a person insane."

After putting the stopper back in his waterskin, he takes the rest of the bucket of water and dumps it over his head. A shake of his shaggy light brown hair and the resulting water spray reminds you of a dog just after getting out of the pond. Once he's done, he pauses and takes a moment to contemplate his next move. This time he speaks more loudly, more determined, "I'll take them up on their offer. There's bound to be opportunity to make a difference if I go west. It's time to make good on my word."

And with that Atlas Sunowl heads back to where he last spoke with the Mailed Fist representative.

Atlas stops and takes a look around. Cattle, sheep, chickens, some farmers, shepherds, etc. There are a few women here and there, but none of them are looking at him. Did someone just call me fine? I know I didn't call myself fine. Sure, on a good day I might be lucky enough to snag a women, but I'm pretty sure it's just the sword they like. So strange. Another shake of the head and he starts walking again.

I meander lazily around, sipping my water... I noticed a tall lad filling up his waterskins, which reminds me to do that as well. I approach and get sprayed with water from his flinging wet hair, and mumble something under my breath about there being a "FINE" for doing that. :)

OOC: Thanks Jay. I made those updates you suggested to my sheet.

Co DM Dan K Mack BaB should be +0 not +1, this adjustment lowers all other attacking by 1. I think you should have the Feat Stunning Fist Make these corrections and you are approved

One last thing Eric.... sheet looks good, but something I missed originally is your Weapon Finesse should be specific. Simply putting (combat) won't cut it. For each weapon finesse you take you must choose a weapon. For example; unarmed combat. W.Finesse is great for a monk by the way! In the monks case any weapon it lists for use by monks COUNTS as unarmed (ranged weapons excluded)! (Perhaps I'm wrong, Dan?)

The monk weapons can be used with Flurry of blows, but they are still weapons. unarmed strikes and feats related to unarmed strikes do not translate to weapons - Dan K

Atlas finally finds his way back to the Mailed Fist recruiting table that is setup outside the tavern. The two chairs are empty, but there is a letter on the table held down by a fist sized rock.

"Off to fight some monsters and fill our purses with gold. Back before sundown."

That sounds promising. Looking up at the sky, it appears to be a little after mid-day. Well, I'm sure they won't mind if I borrow their chairs and rest a bit while I wait.

Atlas settles down comfortably in one of the chairs, puts his feet up on the table and closes his eyes to get some rest. Or so that's what it appears to those passing by.

OOC: Do we really have 5 of 8 character's focused on melee? Yikes. Dan/Jay, do you have a preference on this topic? If you would like to see more magic and less steel then I can volunteer. Let us know what you think. I'm sure I'll have fun either way!

Jay (CoDM)

I prefer balance. I can't speak for Dan. However, we can both work with whatever breakdown there is. I would PERSONALLY (this is just my suggestion), like to see a divine caster at the very least, maybe a druid since it is a mostly natural setting. But maybe a cleric devoted to one of the Woldian nature powers.

Co-DM Dan K I maintain you should play what you will find fun and challenging as a PC to develop over the 1-20 level range we want to play. It does look like i know what the most common purchased Catacombs item will be, Potions of healing lol

Your current DM's and future Dm's will craft adventures and challenges for the party. Not having the ability to instantly heal up after every battle opens the adventure World up quite a bit

I went back and cleaned up the board...

OOC: Trey, it might be more like 6 or 7 out of 8.... I don't have an exact count yet. :) I'm not complaining, though. Just pointing out that if I can't do any damage, I think we'll be ok (on that front).

I'm going to attempt to have some nature skills and knowledge and healing skills and knowledge without being either a druid or a cleric. So in other words, probably pretty worthless except for in my own little mind. I'll just be happy knowing that I have plenty of swords and shields around me while I play my ukele and we all get fireballed. :)

Atlas occupies one of the chairs at a Mailed Fist recruitment table which is currently unmanned. To his right on the ground is a marred section of dirt where a small chest once rested. He is not there long before a minotaur strides up and snorts loudly. Standing at nearly 10', his massive frame blots out the sun. He wears banded armor, cloak and thick black gauntlets. A great sword nearly twice the size of Atlas, hangs across his back. With another great snort he speaks, "You Mailed Fist? Looking to sign up on the caravan to Emerald City"

Before Atlas can answer, a shout rings out from just up the street. "Oiy, No, 'e's not!" There is some mild cursing as the man tries to move through the thick crowds to the table. He shouts again "But I am!" The minotaurs great brown orbs narrow a bit in regards to Atlas and then he turns to the incoming human man. The man arrives and is indeed wearing a tunic emblazoned with the Mailed Fist insignia and his first order of business is to shoo Atlas out of the chair

Breying sheep and goats are being herded down the street by several women, at least 40 in all. A couple collie dogs bound through the herd as well, tails wagging and tongues hanging as they pant in the close quarters to help cool themselves.

Atlas stands up at the man's insistence, stretches and cracks his knuckles above his head. "No need to be pushy, I waa..." he pauses, then he opens his mouth, closes his eyes and lets out a huge yawn. After he recovers, "I was just keeping your table and chairs safe for you while I waited."

Atlas reaches down to grab his gear and then quickly steps to the side to avoid the chair leg that was about to land on his toes! He takes care not to bump into the seemingly grumpy Minotaur as he dances around the table awkwardly.

OOC: Thanks for the feedback Jay & Dan! I'll admit that each day I'm falling more in love with my character, so I'm going to stick with my new buddy :-) However, I will keep the options open as I explore who he is and how his surroundings him impact him.

I wander the crowds, not used to being somewhere that wasn't mostly halflings. I'd love to see a wemic in person. I had heard stories about how they are a lion/halfing mix!!! I can only imagine that.... the curiousity of a feline, and the deadly ferocity of a halfling.

OOC: Did we lose some before we even started? :( When's the "official" start date?

Official Start date for the Tree of Parting Game is Thursday the 5th of June 2014....

Co DM Dan K you are good to go Hayley

Atlas moves aside and circles back around. The man chuckles abit at Atlas's comment on keeping the chair warm and then fully engages the Minotaur. The large taur signs a ledger, Metascar Steelwind and the man shakes his hand, "Half of the monies is paid at the tree and the rest in Emerald City with you running the entire route." He throws a smile at the Minotaur who growls back. The Minotaur leaves.

The man looks at Atlas. "Looking to do anything other than warming chairs?"

Mack moves through the packed streets, hoping to spy a wemic and as he passes under the symbol of Waard, god of fortune and luck, he spies one. A female, but it is not a creature with the upper torso of halfling. Rather the size of a human or perhaps an elf.

"Aye, I am looking." Atlas takes a moment to look the man over. Is he offering honest work, or is this just another man expecting us to risk our lives and then get short changed in the end?. (Sense Motive: 10)

"How much are you paying, what's the cargo, and how many people are you hiring?"

Lilith glanced around the crowded street, attempting to look inconspicuous. Mentally she grinned to herself, Edenmoor was packed with those who would notice far too late that their monies had been taken.

She noted that all races were found in Edenmoor, weighing the ease of robbing each one individually.
