The night passes quietly and those standing guard hear little to cause alarm. As the sun rises you pack you bags and return to the city. Along the way you notice the trail is well worn now, trampled by the passage of the fleeing servants, and it remains that way all the way up to the city wall.
Rum is already awake with peddlers selling their goods and merchants offering a simple breakfast of rolls or muffins for a copper or two. Every week it seems like the streets are more crowded with citizens and merchants as the incoming ships dock and some aboard seek to find a new home. As you enter the WLA you see Ceri in her usual spot, reading the days mail. On either side of the table are several new faces, though you recognize Cameron and a few of the others as having been among those that fled the mansion the night before.
Please, have a seat. The large minotaur says as she lays down a letter sealed with red wax and motions to the empty spots at the table. These guests were inspired by your bravery last night and are seeking initiation into the WLA.
That's right! Cameron says. Most of the others are pooling their resources to open an inn, I have had enough of that type of work to last me a life time.
Ceri gives him a quick look and Cameron returns to his breakfast of eggs and sausage. As you can see, we were made aware of your success last night. There are no pressing matters at this time, just a few missing persons we have been asked to look into. She says as she points to a few of the parchment before her. Once you have filled me in on the details of last night you may have the rest of the day off.
ooc: Sorry for the missed post on Friday. Sprint no longer has coverage at my in laws, and I had planned to post from my tablet. I am back in town and on break, so there should be no more missed posts. I should have your XP calculated tomorrow.

Barratore grabs himself a platter full of food and sits a few spaces down from Cameron away from Ceri. He nods in agreement to Edson's very short summation. Gerox and Peza could fill in the details, but between mouthfuls he blurts, "Tell her about the poem." He then lifts a large tankard to wash down the egg soaked bread in his mouth.
Missing persons he could nothing about and so that bit of information quickly leaves his mind. He needed to hit the Catacombs and purchase some more potions and then get lunch. He wanted to have a good belly of food before the celebration later that night. Maybe some cards or other such distractions could be found

Gerox starts examining the loot they got from the vampire raid. "I guess we need to go to the Catacombs to get this stuff identified. I should change my spells around to get that spell. I would only charge the group half price." he says with a grin.
Gerox starts lugging stuff outside and summons a mount and starts loading it up. "Anyone want to come along?"
(ooc Do you want us to go to the Catacombs to get it identified or just give us a list? Then we can split it and then go to the catacombs."
DM James Typically I want players to at least attempt to identify the items. Assuming you have a decent number of points in Spellcraft (as Gerox does) I will usually give it to you unless it is an unusual item due to the fact that you could keep trying every day until you figure it out.
DM James Tuesday August 12th, 2014 4:38:07 PM "Again I'll say it Ceri. We came, we saw and we destroyed. Vampires? " Edson brags as Barratore grabs himself a platter full of food and sits a few spaces down from Cameron. As he eats Peza fills Ceri in on the events of the night before and introduces the newest member to join your group and Brom tells her about the letter that makes him believe there might be a price on your heads.
Ceri considers this a moment. I will ask around and see if I can learn anything of this letter or why someone might be after you. In the meantime, the city has a favor to ask of you, one they claim you already agreed to help with. The town council has put together an official guard that local protection groups can bring criminals to so that they can be tried accordingly, as opposed to the protection groups carrying out such justice as they see fit. The guard will also intervene when they witness crimes taking place and handle those problems too large for protection groups to handle. Do to your reputation, they would like your advice in how best to carry out these tasks, particularly when it come to the issue of deadly force when a criminal is resisting arrest or putting others in danger. Please, take your time on this matter. Such a decision could greatly effect the development of the city.
As you all eat and consider Ceri's words, Gerox starts examining the magical items you found in the mansion, picking them up one at a time and carefully examining the intricate detail for any clue as to their hidden powers. One by one he notes an odd reflection of the light or intertwining of metal lattice that bind some magic to the treasure...

As Gerox spends hours enamored with the loot from the vampire haul he makes a list for the group explaining what does and encourages the group to try and use as much of the stuff yourselves as possible rather than selling it at the Catacombs for a reduced price. As he eyes one of the headbands Barratore examines the black cloak with jade colored trim and the silver ring in the shape of a serpent biting its own tail with a ruby eye. Edson waits his turn and lets the others choose from the treasure first as Peza encourages Anthe to take a share.

"Don't" is Barratore's reply, worried that giving the guards too much freedom could result in everyone running about thinking they got the right to put someone down.
As you discuss how to approach the issue Ceri watches, approving of much of the logic behind your arguments and reasoning. Keep in mind that these guidelines are for the city guard. The local protection groups have been instructed to use "no more force than is necessary" and to avoid the taking of life except under the most extreme of circumstances. Violation of these rules can get their status as a protection group revoked or even result in charges of murder or manslaughter against those involved.
I told the guards that you would be needing some down time after your last adventure. I expect you will have some shopping to do, and I believe some still need to get some training in.
(Remember that WLA members need to spend 2 days per level training in order to gain the additional skill points each level. If you have anything else you wish to do, make sure to let me know, otherwise we will move on once everyone is ready and any Catacombs purchases are complete. Also, please update your character sheets, some a a few levels behind and with a new Co-DM coming on I would like everything current and easy for him to follow.)
Ooc: While note necessarily "heroic", I agree that "Lord Kazil" deserves an additional Hero Point for his role playing in this module. Please add the Hero Point and additional XP to your character sheet.

After ordering a few drinks Brom and Barratore ask Old Salty if he has heard anything out of the ordinary lately. Ahh, the winds be blowing out of the East. There be adventure to be had. Something about it stirs the blood. It was the Eastern Wind that caused the stirring in me so many years ago. I got the itch for adventure and and stowed away on the Asterion. I just acted like I was supposed to be there and joined in scrubbing the deck and hiding in the life boats to sleep at night. By the time someone realized I wasn't actually crew they had already accepted me and let me stay on board. Mark my word, with the shipping guild making a killing on the Leviathan Shrimp and transporting them across the Wold there will be many a boy looking to do as I did.
Seeing the look on Broms face Old Salty gets the impression Brom is more interested in local news and recent happenings. There has been a slight increase in crime lately. Seems the more boats come the more unscrupulous folk come with it. At first I feared what the protection groups might do to them they catch, but it seems the city guard be keepin an eye on the protection. Make sure a man get a proper trial just like on the main lad.
Did you hear of those bodies they discovered? Puncture wounds in the neck, like something was drinking their blood. For a while I though someone must have caught a thief and taken justice by their own hand, but now some people are opening an inn, claiming to have been dominated by vampires and just set free. Haven't talked to them myself yet. Not sure if it's true. May be it is, maybe it aint. Be curious to know.
As they discuss current events the rest of the League Adventurer's continue examining the items brought back from the mansion, the items considerably more valuable than what the city would have paid.
