DM RobC Monday August 18th, 2014 12:03:12 AM
The Lionfish makes a steady course away from the doomed town that was Gullport and onwards towards Bonetown.
On a good day, the 'Fish can sail around 95 miles straight. With Bonetown about 800 miles south east it will take at least 9 good days of sailing to reach the destination. (See attached Map to give you some idea of where you are)
The crew aren't talking much. The events on Gullport may have rattled the inexperienced members of them, especially those who succumbed to the Call o' the Sea and had to be saved by others. The Lionfish looks to be one of the lucky ones with no casualties. That's not to say they are unscathed, of course.
Disease: Your DM makes the assumption that someone takes 20 on a Heal check, and determines that the skin affliction is a Disease! It will take a Remove Disease spell or similar to treat affected members of the party (Aexana, Coerator and Jozhur), otherwise they will need to be washed every 10mins - day and night - lest they take 1d12 damage and something 'bad' happens.
Ability Damage: It may take a few casting of Lesser Restoration to treat Terser's Wisdom damage. If only there was a druid who could prepare such a spell! :)
All hit points are assumed returned.
Any who enquire will hear from the crew that Kane' chose to depart Gullport with the Shipping Guild on the clipper "Wayfarer". "He mentioned something about checking into treatment of elves, Cap'n" Tula reports.
Terser and Magana discuss how the mind can be focused and trained - much like a weapon.
Sam spends time pouring over maps, and reading through the tomes he scavenged from underneath the Gullport chapel.
Aexana for her part ... paces. The skin affliction just will not heal of its own accord. It may take magic greater than she is currently capable of.
Coer remains quiet in thought.
Three uneventful days pass.
The weather is threatening. The skies are overcast, and though there is no rain any who have spent some time outdoors just feel like it wouldn't take much for the skies to open up with a downpour.
A bell from the crows nest breaks any tension "Ship ho! 5 degrees off the port bow!" comes the call.
Tula looks to Coer for his orders.
Perception checks please! DC20 : Highlight to display spoiler: {Looks like a type of frigate, and is sailing almost straight towards the Lionfish} DC25 : Highlight to display spoiler: {It is flying a Green and Purple Flag} DC30 : Highlight to display spoiler: {The crew look to be waving at you; signalling for you to come closer}
If you make the DC25 check or higher, you may then make a Knowl Local or Profession (Sailor) check: DC10 : Highlight to display spoiler: {Isn't that the same flag that hangs outside the Catacombs in Plateau City?}
Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC17 - HP 12 of 38) d6=6 ; Monday August 18th, 2014 12:24:11 AM
Zeoll senses that his connections to the spirit world are deepening. It is a sensation that is familiar to him. He has seen much of the Wold, and he knows how spirits reveal truths of the Wold in dreams. Once again, he finds that his power as a seer is growing.
That evening, the first on the open sea, he spends time talking with the crew and his friends about the Fae King, and he focuses on the story of the King's dream, when he was just a lad, living in the lands of the elementals. He dreamed about a place he could call home. A place that would blend all elements to make a wonderland. Later, he would make his dream come true, and later, mortals called his Faerie Wonderland "The Wold's Cradle."
As he falls asleep under Queen Maab's stars, he thinks about what home means for himself and his friends, and what the future holds. Will they go home? Will they find homes? Or does the future foretell a life of wandering?
[OOC: Zeoll has advanced a level of Seer and has gained the Read Dream ability. He has had it before in other incarnations / lives. He is using two of his class abilities here. He is using his Cradled Spread The Word ability. And his hit point roll for level 7 is a 6! Sweet!]

Jozhur looks to the skies worriedly, rough seas still remind him of his unpleasant arrival in Bonetown.
He is startled when his staring at the clouds is suddenly interrupted by the lookout. He stares at the ship intently but is unable to make anything out yet.

When the announcement of a ship is made, Sam stops staring at maps and rushes to the deck. The transition of light from below deck to above throws his attention for detail off. It takes him moments to even find the ship. (perception=18)
Being inexperienced in the ways of ship etiquette, Sam remains silent and allows for the captain and others to decide the group's course of action. He retreats to the top of the stairs to allow for a hasty retreat below deck.

When the bell sounds Coer springs from his room. He looks surprisingly healthy given the illness that has swept the team, all trace apparently cured.
"Frigate incoming!" He bellows as he grabs the wheel. He is wary of unknown ships as the Lionfish has a growing reputation and many enemies "Tula. Get the crew on deck and be prepared to defend."

DM RobC Monday August 18th, 2014 9:01:54 AM OOC: Thought this bit of text might be of interest to Terser:
"Unless otherwise noted, damage to your ability scores is healed at the rate of 1 per day to each ability score that has been damaged. Ability damage can be healed through the use of spells, such as lesser restoration."
So given 3 days have passed already, you can assume that 3 of your 4 pts damage are healed. That, and you could ask a certain druid nicely to cast Lesser Restoration on you to put you back in perfect health :)
Terser (Warren G) [22/13/19 -- CMD 23 -- HP 78/78] d20+8=17 ; Monday August 18th, 2014 11:39:09 AM days ago - Terser examines the patients with his newly expanded knowledge of the body and the things that ail it. Under much study, he identifies the disease that is plaguing his new friends and recommends a course of action to treat it (a spell, if available). While ministering to Aexana, he kindly asks her for a spell to fix his mind, which has been afflicted with a different kind of damage. (thanks!)
Today! perception 17 Terser stands in the bow with Sam, but is similarly inexperienced with nautical pursuits. He files away the word "frigate" as applying to the ship he sees coming towards them and waits for orders from his captain.

During the 3 days journey Aexana makes sure to prepare some spells to remove the disease she, Coer and Jozhur suffer from. (3 lvl 3 spells Remove Disease). Aex also prepares a couple of Lesser Restoration spells to cast on Terser. Terser is restored 6 ability points. Everyone healed, patched up and cured from any nasty diseases.
Steadily the Druid starts to take on the role of the surgeon on board of the Lionfish. Aexana collects some sea weeds and finds ways to convert them to tasteless teas and such... "Ah it will take some practice I think to make these work... anyone want to try?"
--------------------------
The next few days Aex spends a lot of time meditating untill suddenly the bell from the Crow's Nest rings... Aes runs outside and checking for the ship... Aex inspects the ship and it's flag but it doesn't ring a bell for her. So she just says what she saw...

(ooc: sheet updated for lvl 7) (ooc2: Magana is planning to buy and donate a wand of Cure Mod to the party. If I understood correctly, this counts towards the wealth of the person that carries the wand, not the person that purchased it, right? Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 45 of 45) Monday August 18th, 2014 10:08:30 PM
Zeoll suspects that Magana needs help with juggling gear, and offers to give some advice. "I've seen a grreat many adventurrerrs in my day," he says, "and I've seen how they equip themselves. Let me advise, you, my frriend."
OOC: Something you buy can be a party item (wealth cost spread among all players) or it can belong to you, the buyer (so it counts against your wealth), or you can give it to a friend (so it counts against their wealth). I suggest the party item path, since it helps everybody.
Also, OOC, Magana, do you need help with shopping? Instead of a wand, why not a +2 weapon, or a cloak of resistance +2 or +3?

DM RobC - "The Bursting Backpack" Tuesday August 19th, 2014 6:29:13 AM
Terser feels his wits return to him, with thanks to a combination of some good old rest and relaxation, and Aexana's magic.
Jozhur and Aexana too start to feel better thanks to the druid's spells.
Zeoll spends one night of the voyage seeking advice from the visions his deity chooses to send to him in his sleep. The vision though may not be quite what he was expecting, as all he can see when he focuses on the topic of 'home' is the crew sailing on the Lionfish. Notably, neither Bonetown nor the Taur Isles make an appearance in his dream (Read dreams functions as a Divination, which is limited to events "to occur within 1 week"). With the vision complete, Zeoll allows his mind to relax and dream. But rest is hard to come by.
His dreams are more like nightmares. Images of pain, suffering, sorrow and torture. Images of death. As if many fey voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
When Zeoll wakens, he can't shake the feeling that something is 'off' in the Wold. A feeling that there is someplace he needs to be.
------
The party are alert at the sign of the approaching vessel. It is Zeoll's keen eyes that can bring a sense of relief to the crew. A Catacombs vessel! Why, that would mean access to resupply!
Coer steers the Lionfish alongside, and the two ships slow. Now closer, everyone else can see what it was that Zeoll saw. A purple and green flag flies from the top of the mast of the frigate. Any who have been to the catacombs in Plateau City recognise it as being the same as the sign that flies outside the well-known shop.
Ropes are thrown between the two ships and they are lashed together by the hard working crews. The crew of the Catacombs vessel ("The Bursting Backpack") extend a gang-plank for the Lionfish crew to come aboard. The crew are all smiling and waving, gesturing for you all to come aboard.
A fairly young human male in a dashing purple outfit stands by the wheel - arguably he is the Captain. He cups his hand to his mouth to call out "Ahoy there! The Bursting Backpack cordially invites you to come aboard and trade with us!" and finishes with a bow
The party are free to explore the "Bursting Backpack".
At the southern end of the main deck is a mottled green door - an entrance to the Catacombs.
The captain stands leaning by the wheel on the southern quarterdeck, and gives an informal salute and smile to whoever looks his way.
At the northern end of the main deck can be seen some stairs that descend to the lower decks. You catch a quick glimpse of a minotaur as he pokes his head up to see the party, then he ducks back below.
Atop the northern quarterdeck can be seen a well-to-do half-elven man wearing a gold robe. He looks to be talking to himself and gesticulating wildly as he does so. Sitting atop a barrel next to him, a quill (controlled by some unseen hand) writes in a book.
------ OOC:

Sam shows little, immediate interest in shopping. He is instead drawn to the half-elf in the gold robe. Doing his very best to be inconspicuous, Sam wanders closer and attempts to identify markings on the man's robe. (Knowledge:local= 21 after "auto 10")
Sam thinks as he watches the half-elf,"Could he be a member of the sage guild? I know they wear colored robes to signify which chamber to which they belong."
Sam tries to recall as much information as possible about the man and his attire, to allow for a smooth introduction.
Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 45 of 45) Tuesday August 19th, 2014 9:36:24 AM
Shrugging off his intuitive sense of dismay for the moment, Zeoll asks Magana to help him carry all the gear to be sold to the Catacombs. He confirms that the ONLY gear the party is keeping are three pearls of power and the shades of Renik.
Zeoll swishes his tail thoughtfully when he says that. He tells Jozhur, "I knew Rrenik D'Acourr, of courrse. Wonderrful fellow. Come chat with me some evening if you want to hearr some of his wild tales. I was drinking with him in the old Red Wyrm Inn when we heard that Domi died."
With a shake of his grey mane, Zeoll (and hopefully Magana or someone who is strong) sets off for the Catacombs.
"I'll be rright back with the loot division," he declares.
[OOC: DO any NPCs or PCs want to chat with Zeoll about Eberyon ... see last post? There's a sweet save bonus in it for those who are interested!]

There is a rustling near the door to the crew's quarters where the more perceptive of the group see a tall figure disappear rather quickly behind the door. Horace the Goblin skips over with a bag of gold and a small slip of parchment, crying out, "The elf-man wants to buy these things! Says to give someone the gold! Says I get to keep three for delivery!" Horace waves the slip of paper over his head, waiting for someone to take it.

With a cheerful smile Aexana boards the Catacombs ship. Before going to the counter and the Staffers Aex browses the vast library of books available. One specific tome catches her attention... Animals of the Wold, from Diminutive to Huge! . This tome she could use to carefully study many of the animals that dwell the Wold. She might be able to change into some of this forms!
Then, the Gnome lass walks up to the counter. Her own gold in a pouch along with the extra 205 she has on loan from good Sam...

After assisting with the dragging and selling of gear and having no shopping of his own to do with the limited amount of gold at his disposal, Terser sticks with Sam and hopes to learn something, especially relating to geography and the existence of other tribes of people who may follow the same path that he has recently embarked upon.
Coerator (Mark) AC17/16/14 -- CMD 23 -- HP 80/80 (Ki 7/7) Tuesday August 19th, 2014 6:19:07 PM
Coer hands over control to Tula and calls for Justier the cabin boy. "Justier, can you do spire's shopping? he appears adverse to exiting his room today"
He crosses the gangplank to the Bursting Backpack and heads to the Helm.
"Ahoy! The catacombs are a sight for sore eyes for we were unable to resupply at our last port. I hope you are not heading for Gullport... the sea has swallowed that evil husk of a town. Scratch it from your maps if you have any sense. Sam and Zeoll will talk your ears off about it i'm sure"
We have been travelling for some time. Is there any news that may affect us Honest men of the middle seas?"
Coer waits for a reply before heading through the familiar mottled green door
DM RobC - "The Bursting Backpack" Wednesday August 20th, 2014 12:23:59 AM
Coer hands command of the Lionfish over to Tula. "Cap'n" she says "Since there's a chance for resupply, If you have no objections I'll organise the crew into shifts to give them a chance to spend some of their silver as well. I'll make sure that a skeleton crew is aboard the 'Fish at all times though"
Justier puffs out his chest at being given an order from the captain himself. He nods and makes for Spire's room, only to see Horace quickly skip past. Justier looks at the goblin and then takes chase. Though Horace may have been asked by Spire to do the shopping, there is no way that Justier is going to disobey the order from Coer. Both Horace AND Justier head for the entrance to the catacombs to do Spire's shopping for him.
Aex is extremely grateful for Sam's generosity. Why, the bard hardly knows her yet may be responsible for her being able to pursue her dreams.
Magana and Zeoll make straight for the catacombs. Leave it to the taurs to do the heavy lifting!
Coer goes to make pleasantries with the Captain of the "Bursting Backpack", a jovial fellow by the name of Francois DeMeneval. "Gullport, you say? Interesting. We had been heading in that direction, but perhaps we should reconsider that now". The man freely shares some of the news that he has heard: - Animals and monsters were on the loose in the streets of Plateau City. There were some casualties but the creatures were eventually captured. Regrettably some animals were killed. - Treants have been massing near the Trading Post in Cthonia. Traders have been advised not to panic. - The Mailed Fist have been recruiting heavily across the northwest areas of the Elennian Peninsula. Sources say they may soon send forces into the Scab - Adventuring party accused of murdering high priestess in Humble's Ford have been acquitted. Actual murderers were identified and brought to justice. - Halfling scholars have managed to turn back time, and discovered the word 'emit'
Terser and Sam make their way towards the man at the bow of the ship. Sam has heard tell that members of the Sage's Guild are known for wearing robes of different colors to signify their standing. A gold robe - such as that worn by this man - would mean he was from the Chamber of Culture. Then again, a gold robe could also signify a high ranking member of a clergy or some such.
As they approach they can see the half-elf talking aloud, and waving his hands in the air in grandios fashion. He enunciates his words very clearly, and is quite tall for a half-elf. " ... and thus one can only come to the conclusion that the male of the species developed the ability to walk on its hindquarters ... " The man pauses mid sentence and turns to face the two newcomers. The quill also stops writing.
"Sam is it? Well, I suppose you want an autograph or some such. The things I must do for my public" he sighs in dramatic fashion. The blank expression on Sam and Terser's faces cause the man to look momentarily confused. "What? You do not know who I am? Why, I am Marfire Strongsteel!" the half-elf says with a broad smile and a flourish of his hand. Seeing the blank expression on Sam's face, the man continues "Marfire the Loremaster? Marfire of Good's Light? Marfire Tyrantfeller? My word man, where have you been living?!"
Clearly the man thinks quite highly of himself, but even with Sam's knowledge of a great many things, not once does he recall hearing of this man before.
---------------------- OOC: Please note that any shopping needs to take place on the Catacombs Board.
Whilst your PC may be on that board, you are still free to act and post as though you were walking about the ship and going about your business here.

"My apologies Marfire Strongsteel. My greatest friend and protector, Terser and I have wandered the wastelands of the Scab for the majority of our lives. It has only been a short while that we have been with the crew of the Lionfish. Although most likely well-deserved, word of your deeds have yet to reach the Scab."
"You said that you are a loremaster. Can I also assume that you are a member of the Chamber of Culture?... Excuse my probing curiosity, but I'm very interested in joining the guild. I've learned many languages and studied cultures, geography, and religions in hopes of earning a place in a chamber."

Magana (Craig) [HP 81+ of 81] Wednesday August 20th, 2014 4:20:10 PM
Magana sings a little ditty when all that gold hits the deck at her feet:
Come and listen to a story about a Taur from the Isle, A poor dungeoneer; would never crack a smile, Then one day she was worked over by Biloopl, And ended the day with a massive pile o' loot.
Gold that is, sweet gold. Best when free!
Well the first thing you know the ol' Taur's a thousandaire, Thought to 'erself "Well, that's quite a pile there" Said "The Catacombs is the place you ought to be" So she loaded up the loot and found the 'Combs at sea.
Catacombs, that is. +5 Avengers, magic armour!
Well she spent all her gold and went lookin' for more, Stayed with comrades, in good times and war. They traveled the Wold by land and by sea, To have a heapin' helpin' of its' hospitality
Magana's her name, battle maiden, minotaur.

ooc: Jozhur's character sheet should be ready. I'll try to look over my 2 assigned sheets tomorrow night.
DM RobC - "The Bursting Backpack" Thursday August 21st, 2014 6:53:25 AM "My dear boy" the half elf says to Terser "you are speaking with one of the foremost experts on the peoples of the Wold! But you would need to be more precise with your question. Is there any group in particular you wish to learn about? The savages of the Ice Vein? The wild men of the Red Hills? Perhaps the raiders of the Sargrass?"
Whereas his attitude to Terser was one of pride (and perhaps a chance to inflate his own ego), Marfire's attitude to Sam comes across as more of a challenge.
"Hmm.. yes, well, I have ventured to many many places, however the Scab is one that is yet to have the pleasure of hosting me. And yes, I am a member of the Chamber of Culture. Becoming a member of the Sages Guild is relatively easy, though few make it any further than that. Tell me, what languages do you speak? What cultures have you studied? What benefit could you provide the Guild? Do you know things that we do not?"
Meanwhile Aexana finally gets just the right amount of gold to purchase that scroll she was after. She vows to repay Sam in the future. Perhaps when she is a greenmage she might craft something from lifewood for the bard?
Magana brings quite a bit of cheer to the group. Her ditty has several sailors clapping along, and Zeoll does try to help. Hero Point to Magana for a great tune!
Once more, a minotaur head pops up from the hatch at the northern end of the ship. He looks about a little confused, and then heads back downstairs.
Justier and Horace return back to Spire's room with his shopping in tow. Horace holds a small bag that looks to have something alive and wriggling in it (for now). He's obviously spent those few gold coins Spire gave him on 'lunch'.
Spire though remains unseen, tucked away in his cabin.
Coer returns to take the helm of the Lionfish to graciously allow Tula time to shop as well. She doesn't seem as excited as the rest of the crew, but does make her way to the Catacombs. Most of the crew look to have stocked up on various types of alcohol. The experience at Gullport probably warrants a drink.
Jozhur helps out with the crew, taking a shift in the crows nest to allow Pinny a chance to shop. He too then visits the catacombs.

"I speak Common, obviously, Gnome, Sylvan, Elven, Dwarven, Goblin, Abyssal, Undercommon, Orc, Draconic, Infernal, Giant, and Aquan. I served as a scribe and translator for the dwarven people of the mighty DrakesMeade. Theirs is the primary culture that I have studied, as I had joined a group of them once-named the "Grim Guard". As for what I might know that the guild doesn't...I guess I'll have to meet up with them and learn where our ignorances meet."
After a polite grin, Sam shows the half-elf his medal and uniform from DrakesMeade. He then shows him his round medallion that has a few links of chain connecting it to a large silver metal ring. Inscribed on the medallion is "I WENT TO THE GIGGLING GHOST FOR YULETIDE AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS KEY-CHAIN...".
Sam thinks of the probable location of the nearest sage guild. (Geography=36)
"Did you just come from (names location that he comes up with) branch of the guild? Do you have any pointers for admission for a novice like myself".
Magana (Craig) [HP 81+ of 81] Thursday August 21st, 2014 1:13:56 PM

Terser (Warren G) [22/13/19 -- CMD 23 -- HP 78/78] Thursday August 21st, 2014 1:25:15 PM
Terser is a bit overwhelmed with the man's question, and is not quite sure where to start.
Well, sir, I don't know exactly where would be best. It's easy to find the hunters and warriors of any tribe. But my travels now direct me to find the leadership, and the advisers behind them. There is apparently a rich tradition of shamanic guidance, but I haven't found any direct evidence, only what the Powers have seen fit to show me in a vision. I suppose my search would be begin here in the isles, if this can be confirmed of the tauric tribes.

"Ha! Nice siege weapon, Coer. Maybe we could just load Terser into that thing and launch him at our enemies."
Jozhur glances around and finally notices Spire's continued absence.
"What's that Spire up to? Haven't seen him much since Gullport."
DM RobC - "The Bursting Backpack" Friday August 22nd, 2014 8:02:52 AM
Coer shows off his new weapon to the party. Not quite the ballista he had his heart set on, but hey, a large heavy crossbow still packs quite a punch! Especially if they take Jozhur's suggestion and load Terser into it.
Magana is suitably impressed. For her though, a ranged weapon would only detract from the feeling of joy you get from punching someone in the face.
Aexana considers where she could safely transform into a tree. It's true, she could transform into a tree right on the deck of the ship. It would probably be ok for a few minutes - perhaps even an hour - but after that the roots of the tree would no doubt need nourishment, and could cause havoc with the deck.
Spire remains elusive - something that Jozhur keenly notes. Why has he not shown himself to do his own shopping? Is it that he has taken a liking to being served by others? One can only hope he hasn't fallen ill...
Zeoll seeks out Captain DeMeneval and enquires about news from the Taur Isles. The Captain extends his hand to shake Zeolls "Well this is a surprise! I don't often see many linotaurs out at sea. As for the taur races and truce, well, thank goodness for Bridge Island! They needed some common ground, but who knows how long that will last before one race tries to push the others out"
Marfire nods along with what Terser is telling him. "Hmmm... well, if it was part of your heritage, I would likely suspect one of the feral clans of dwarves in the Scab, or perhaps one of the darker groups of dwarves from Zarthmoor. They have duergar traits you know. Of course this is just an educated deduction. Divination spells may be more likely to direct you further, but who has time for such things when you can experience the Wold for yourself!"
He then returns his attention to Sam. The challenge as to what languages he speaks serves only to give Marfire another reason to puff up his chest "And as for what languages I speak, well, I am yet to find a language that I cannot easily grasp. Are you familiar with High Woldian? One of our sages, Master Al'Garik, has conducted some wonderful research on it."
The Sages Guild is predominantly based in Plateau City, however, it does have libraries in various major cities. The closest most likely being in Fagunia (where information is regularly traded openly).
Sam takes a guess that that would be a likely place of departure for Marfire. The half-elf just raises an eyebrow and smiles "An educated deduction master Sam, but incorrect I'm afraid. Still, you intrigue me. Come, let us adjourn below deck and discuss the guild further. I'm afraid this will be a private conversation master dwarf. I mean you no offence" Marfire gives a polite nod and bow to Terser, and then gestures for Sam to follow him below deck, taking his quill and parchment from the barrel as he goes. He will not proceed if Terser insists on going.
Marfire escorts Sam to his private quarters. A tapestry hangs from one wall, a rug on the floor, an elegantly carved wooden bed, a chair and desk with a high organised pile of parchment. This is very different to any of the cabins on the Lionfish. This is a man who enjoys the finer things.
Marfire pulls the chair from the desk and gestures for Sam to take a seat.
Sam (David W): 14/12/13 -- CMD 14 -- HP 48/48 Friday August 22nd, 2014 10:33:22 AM "I have heard of High Woldian, but never heard it uttered. It is on my list of languages to learn."
Before Sam joins Marfire below deck, he casually unstraps his backpack and hands it to Terser.
"This thing is weighing me down. Take care of it for me brother."
It is rare for the frail gnome to leave Terser. The possibility of getting information on the Sage's Guild causes him to stray from safety. Once seated, Sam smiles and allows Marfire to start with the pleasantries or unpleasantries. Neither would surprise the gnome.

Coer notices Magana watching his movements. He explains his work as he goes, demonstrating knots and what rope to pull and when.
"The Lionfish is strong and she is fast, but does not hold too much cargo. Perfect for our line of work."
DM RobC - "The Bursting Backpack" Monday August 25th, 2014 6:53:09 AM
The two minotaurs of the Lionfish - Coer and Magana - do some work about the ship. Magana tries to take in everything the experienced Coer is teaching her.
Zeoll and Aexana go to check on Spire. He refuses to open the door, and tries to reassure them that he is fine.
Something occurs to Aexana though. The treeshape spell does allow you to take the form of a tree with a dead trunk. In fact, she can take the shape and form of any tree she desires. What's more, since the roots are a part of the tree, she may even be able to ensure that none grow. If that was the case, perhaps she could cast the spell while on the ship? She'd just need to make sure that her large tree form did not interfere with any of the Lionfishs' functions.
Terser tries to get a read on Marfire, but the half-elf is unusual. Terser doesn't get any 'bad' feeling about the man, but his motives are very well hidden.
Sam follows Marfire to his quarters and sits down, glancing about the room. Sam finds that his legs dangle down from the chair, not quite touching the floor. There are all sorts of tomes here, mostly on Wold geography and covering both the northern and southern continents.
Marfire clasps his hands behind his back as he paces in front of Sam "So you want to join the Sages Guild do you master Sam? Then let us conduct an interview. But first, if you will indulge me..."
Marfire places his quill and parchment atop his desk. The quill magically stands upright, apparently ready to start scribing at its master's command. Marfire then stands in front of Sam and casts a number of spells.

"Satisfactory. We can speak here privately. I expect you to answer all of my questions openly and honestly. There is to be no deceit. Understood? Then let us begin"
The first round of questions are very standard - What is your full name? Where were you born? Tell me of your parents? Have you ever bene convicted of a crime? And so on.
The quill writes down all of Marfire's questions as well as Sam's answers.
The next round are a bit obscure - if you could be a square or a circle, which would you choose and why? Do you prefer orange or purple and why? If you were given a puppy, what would you call it?
The round after that is also slightly odd. "Tell me if any of these words mean anything to you..." Marfire lists a very ecclectic bunch of words, none of which Sam has ever heard before. One though rings a bell: Billoopl.
Without his travel companion about, Terser decides to poke about the Bursting Backpack a little more and starts with that curious minotaur.
Terser descends the steps at the northern end of the ship to find a peculiar sight. The minotaur and a dwarf look to be engaging in combat! Not your usual battle though - these two look to be engaged in a drinking competition of some sort. The minotaur is slurping noisily from a small barrel (and a number of empty ones lay scattered behind him). The dwarf is drinking from a sizable tankard.
"Pull up a shtool, the wine is flowing free" says the minotaur drunkenly gesturing about. It's true, there are wine barrels galore. This could truly be a taurish paradise. "Leoendithas-sh Shieldhart. But call me Leo" The taur is swaying where he sits "Dunno what his name is, we just call him dwarf"
The dwarf belches loudly. Most races might be insulted by this, but Terser knows this is just dwarven etiquette to show the drink is good.

A look of surprise comes across Sam's face as the loremaster begins casting spells. He prepares to dispel any that displease him. None of the three concern the gnome. He casts detect magic also before answering any questions. His reason is purely one of magical "posturing".
"I call myself Sam Snapdragon McFisticuff. As for my place of birth and who my parents are...those are questions I'm unable to answer. That is the truth. I've never been convicted of a crime." He continues answering questions honestly for round one.
As round two begins, Sam's face begins to twist and his forehead crinkles. The gnome obviously thinks the questions have no real relevance. He decides to over-answer them for both his own amusement and to make his opinion known.
"Although squares are lovely with their straight edges that are abruptly ended by sharp corners, I'd be a circle for sure. Circles aren't bound by corners. They just keep going in one line. I like purple, but love orange. Although purple kind of a color of royalty, I've always thought of it as a girl's color. Now orange really reminds me of the morning light. It's majestic and bright. Quite a great color, that orange is. A puppy you say? I'm more of a cat-gnome myself. I do like puppies though. I'd give the puppy to Terser, my giant dwarven friend. He'd name it something like 'Splat' or 'Gore' I'd assume. Then I'd guess he might accidentally crush the poor thing. Maybe I wouldn't give him the puppy after all."
As the next round of questions hit, Sam feels like the real reason for this interview is approaching. The foreign words feel as they are meant to put him back on his heels. When the final word is spoken, Sam smiles, but does his best to "blank" his mind of information other than the following:
"So we've come to the reason for this interview. I'm not a simple gnome you know? I've been waiting for a question like this since we began. We fought an incarnation of Billoopl and his followers on Gullport. Then the island sunk. Why do you ask?". (Sense motive=30)

You may get lucky and just have birds in you branches, or you encounter something that eats trees - though admitedly nothing like that comes to mind! The choice is yours :)})
Sam casts a Detect Magic spell of his own and looks about. There are strong magical auras all throughout the room - except on Marfire. Though you clearly witnessed him cast spells just moments earlier, he himself does not show any discernable magical aura. Marfire chuckles loudly "My dear boy, when one travels as much as I do, one learns to take precautions to 'blend in to the crowd'. However if it would ease your mind" The half-elf utters a word of dismissal and Sam is now able to see the strong magical aura radiating from the man (Note that 'strong' indicates a CL of between 12 and 20).
Sam answers the questions honestly, as requested. But the only one that draws any reaction at all from Marfire is the one regarding Billoopl. The half-elf who has been so flamboyant and cocky changes his attitude. Sam senses true concern and worry on him. Marfire stops pacing and closes his eyes in contemplation for an uncomfortably long silence. He waves his hand towards his quill and it drops flat on the parchment, no longer scribing "This is ... unfortunate. But not unexpected. I cannot tell you my motives just yet - however it is vitally important that you tell me all you know of Billoopl and Gullport. The number of casualties, enemies and creatures faced, tactics, weapons, powers, anything that you can remember no matter how insignificant. Do this for me, and I will see to it that you become an apprentice of the Sages Guild this day"
Magana seeks out Tommy Teeth to get a feel for how the crew and ship are handling. "Bah! Half of 'em will be dead within a year." Tommy scoffs about the crew "None of 'em can handle themselves in a fight. Hmpf, well maybe Tula". Despite what his feeligs may be about the rest of the crew, it is obvious that even Tommy will show Tula due respect.
Spire keeps to himself, madly scribing scrolls into his spellbook. Every now and then he hears some crunching and slurping from outside his door. An educated guess would be that it is Horace enjoying his lunch.
Terser joins Leo and 'dwarf' for a drink. Though there are no spare tankards at hand, the smaller wine barrels are easily uncorked, and can be drunk from directly. There's a small burn as the wine goes down Terser's throat "Not 'taur quality granted, but it hitssh the shpot" Leo smiles.
'Dwarf' just smiles and keeps drinking. Every so often he stops and leans forward to stare at Terser intently.
On Terser's enquiry about Minotaur Island "Ahh, the land is blesshed by Imod himself" he closes his eyes in remembrance, then opens them suddenly as if something has just occured to him "So is that heifer you're with shpoken for?" The taur is clearly asking about Magana. (OOC: Your DM doesn't know the correct term for a female minotaur, so has gone with heifer for now. Please don't take it as Leo being insulting!)
It is when Terser introduces himself by name that 'dwarf' stops drinking. He hastily places his mug on the floor and leans in close to Terser and ... smells him? 'Dwarf' then sets about trying to look through Terser's belongings, checking the inside of his shirt, etc. It's like he is trying to find something. He finally stops badgering Terser and leans in to closely look him in the eyes.
"Haven't sheen him do that before!" Leo laughs
Terser (Warren G) [22/13/19 -- CMD 23 -- HP 78/78] d20+4=24 ; Tuesday August 26th, 2014 11:25:14 AM
Considering the friendly reception and free wine, Terser lets 'dwarf' perform his inspection. Is there something you're looking for, friend? I don't have anything hidden on me. My glaive is only dangerous to my enemies, as are the gods I channel through that trinket on the end. He points out his new holy symbol rather proudly. He pulls a souvenir shell out of his pocket from a recent battle on the beach and offers it to the dwarf. A memento from our recent stay in Gullport - you can have it if you like.
As for Magana, the only thing she's married to as far as I know is the sea, and good look prying her from the Lionfish. Though you could try to hire on with the captain if you'd like to get to know her better. I am still getting to know her myself, being a rather recent addition to the crew. (Brock) Jozhur AC20/15/15--CMD 20--HP 55/55 Tuesday August 26th, 2014 11:31:26 AM
Overhearing Magana's conversation with Tommy Teeth, Jozhur slaps Tommy on the back and chimes in, Well, hopefully they don't have to do much brawling with us around then, eh?"
Jozhur explains to Magana that the crew are very competent sailors, but the adventurers try to keep them out of harms way during fights. He smiles and says, "More blood for us to spill that way."
Sam (David W): 14/12/13 -- CMD 14 -- HP 48/48 Tuesday August 26th, 2014 12:38:09 PM
After reading Marfire's body language to the best of his abilities, Sam decides that either the half-elf is telling the truth, or is the greatest liar he has ever faced. This brings about two separate concerns in the bard's mind. One concern (if he's being deceived) is that giving him the information could result in assisting evil. The other is purely selfish. Sam wants to be the one who passes the book to the guild. As painful as it is, the gnome decides to follow his gut and trust Marfire.
"I'm going to give you all the information that I have. I believe that you are being truthful. I know it might seem trivial, but if at all possible, please put in a good word to get me into the Chamber of Tongues. Language is a true passion for a bard such as myself."
Sam tells the entire story from the time he and Terser landed on the island to the time he first met Marfire. He estimates the island's population and tells the names of the leaders of the cult, how they deceived the group, what creatures they ran into, and how a horrible sound caused villagers to drown themselves. No detail is glossed over.
"That is all I know. I hope this information helps the cause of good. Please at least hint to me of your motives. If you give me a good answer, I'd be willing to help you a bit more. I...grabbed a tome from the library under the church. It describes, in great detail the practices of the followers of Billioopl."

Aex studies the map. She's no cartographer but with some help perhaps from Sam she can pinoint the bearings for one of the islands and then back to where the lionfish is heading. "Wish me luck friends..."
And with that Aex transforms in a dolphin and dives in the water. First she swims in front of the Lionfish and then she changes heading to an island...

OoC :: Sick today, sorry for the short post
DM RobC - "The Bursting Backpack" Wednesday August 27th, 2014 7:32:37 AM Terser, Leo & Dwarf
'Dwarf' is smiling now though. In fact, he seems excited. He starts poking Terser and grunting, and every now and then looks to Leo as if to check that Leo sees what he sees. 'Dwarf' takes the shell from Terser and sniffs it, before tossing it back. He is grinning widely and his grunts seem to indicate he is happy.
It has taken a while, but Terser finally realises that the reason 'dwarf' has not spoken is because he has no tongue. Given his state, it is likely 'dwarf' lost his tongue either in battle, or perhaps just bit it off in some psychotic (or drunken?) state or another. 'Dwarf' certainly hasn't acted like any other dwarf Terser knows.
'Dwarf' rushes from the room leaving Terser alone with Leo. Even though he is no scholar like his friend Sam, Terser knows well enough that the deity that minotaurs refer to as Imod is the one and the same as he who is worshipped throughout the wold as Domi (OOC: The Wold designers were very original in this one 'Imod' = 'Domi'. Spot the pattern? :))
Leo nods along at the talk of Magana the tauress. She may not be the most charismatic taur he has ever seen, but who knows how long Leo has been at sea! "Shhure we have shamans. They're the ones who fix up the taurs who lose a kayleb"
'Dwarf' comes rushing back into the room with a red, bundled cloth that he thrusts at Terser. Unwrapping the cloth terser finds a black gauntlet, covered in dozens of small spikes. There is much to take in. The tattered red cloth is recognisable to Terser - it is a flag from the Stone Festival, representing Mountain Burrow. 'Dwarf' must have spent some time in the Scab, and perhaps called Mountain Burrow his home at some point! The black gauntlet (which Terser recognises as a Cestus) is fashioned from adamantine. Not only that, but based on its colouring and the markings on the palms, it was made by the duergar. Could it be that the duergar are STILL fashioning adamantine weapons in the Scab?
Should Terser try and return the items to 'dwarf', 'dwarf' will keep pushing them back to Terser and start to get gruff about it. He clearly recognises Terser and wants him to have this gift.
--------------------- Sam & Marfire
Marfire listens intently to Sam's tale. Though nothing is being scribed, the attention to detail that the half-elf puts in his clarifying questions leaves no doubt that he is committing it all to memory.
Marfire sighs, and then resumes his pacing of the room "We are aware of many changes that occur in the Wold. In fact in most cases, we know of them before they occur. However, these rumours of a returning power to the Wold - Billoopl, as you know him - have us concerned. We have little information on him you see. My mission was to head to Gullport and ascertain a threat level. Your news that Gullport has been completely destroyed is worrying. We were not aware that Billoopl had ammassed that level of power. Indeed he is growing rapidly."
"I cannot put in a good word for you to the Chamber of Tongues, I'm afraid. To interfere with the progression of a sage from a different chamber would be frowned upon. That doesn't stop it from happening every now and then mind you. Why, the number of backroom deals and secrets that .. but I digress. True to my word I will appoint you as an Apprentice for the Chamber of Culture, if that is agreeable to you. When it comes time to the exams you may take your chances as you wish."
"If you agree to this, then the first task I set to you is to continue gathering as much information as you can about Billoopl. Determine how far his power reaches. What can he do? What has he done? We need as much information about him as we can get. However, you need to be careful. We do not want to cause a panic, nor show our hand. Do not let it be public knowledge that you are gathering this information. Immortal Powers do not rise often, and layfolk could easily be alarmed by such news. Furthermore, if his followers knew that we were collecting information on them, it could provoke them into going to war. No, discretion is required. What say you?"
--------------------- Jozhur & Magana
Magana and Jozhur maintain their casual conversation with Tommy Teeth. Magana enquires about training the crew in some basic combat moves, to which Tommy chuckles "You'd have more luck teachin' a dog to dance". Magana doesn't get the impression that he is being dishonest, nor that he is trying to make her go away. He just genuinely doesn't seem to think the crew are going to be capable fighters. From his point of view, he's the half-orc muscle. Then there the old man, the goblin, the boy, and a handful of scrawny men. And Tula.
--------------------- Aexana
Aexana decides she can no longer wait. She picks the nearest island and lets Zeoll and the rest of the crew know that will be her destination. Should they finish with the Bursting Backpack sooner, they can meet her there.
And with that, she takes to the water in the form of a dolphin.
It takes many, many hours of swimming, and Aexana finds she reaches the shore of the island just before her wildshape would have expired.
By all regards she has landed on a tropical island. Vast sandy beaches, palm trees with lots of scrub. There are no sounds or signs of civilization.
--------------------- Coer, Spire & Zeoll
Coer stands by the helm of the Lionfish, ready to push off. The rest of the crew have returned to their quarters with their new possessions, and some have started to return to their duties.
Spire stays hidden in his cabin.
Zeoll is ready to shove off, and bids Captain DeMeneval farewell. "Your gold in our coffers pays your debts, friend! Just another service the Catacombs offers" the Captain says with a smile.

Sam thinks for only a short moment. He realizes that this chamber could offer much more adventure and many more opportunities to do good for the Wold.
"I happily accept your offer. I'll get the tome for you."
Sam finds Terser and gets his backpack. He brings it to Marfire and carefully removes it from the bag.
"Thank you for giving me this assignment. I will not fail the guild"
The bard hands over the tome and watches for the half-elf's reaction.

If 'dwarf' will not take the shell, he will offer one of the claws from his glaive as a token of thanks, accepting the offered gift and assuming it is because he managed to protect some of this one's kin during the Stone Festival. He fits the gloves on and flexes his fingers, eager to give them a try in the future. He salutes 'dwarf', offers one last toast, and heads back to his ship.

Aex digs up the scroll read's it...
"The mountains, I become part of it... The herbs, the fir tree, I become part of it... The morning mists, the clouds, the gathering waters, I become part of it. The wilderness, the dew drops, the pollen... I become part of it."

DM RobC - Just relaxing on a tropical island Thursday August 28th, 2014 6:16:04 AM
The group finally depart from the Bursting Backpack. The Captain and crew all wave as you head off, with 'dwarf' looking a little teary. From the stern of the ship you could swear you could see a minotaur head adding a little 'technicolour' to the ocean.
Despite the reports from Sam and others, the Bursting Backpack looks to be headed to where Gullport was last seen.
Sam is quite happy. He is now a full fledged apprentice of the Sages Guild, and has even been given a task to undertake.
Terser never did work out how 'dwarf' seemed to know him. Perhaps their paths had crossed in the past? And who knows, perhaps their paths will cross again in the future.
Magana and Jozhur seem about ready to start a boot camp and get the crew up to a fighting standard. Tommy is ready to tell them what he thinks "Security? Don' we only have to worry 'bout that when in port? As for gear for the ship, well, we do have room for a ballista" He has the same twinkle in his eye that you've seen in Coer.
Zeoll plays around with his pearls (and no, that isn't a euphamism) before regailing the party and crew with tales of Maab and Eberyon.
----------
Aexana pokes around the outskirts of the palm trees, not wanting to venture too far from the shore so she can keep an eye out for the Lionfish, should the group come for her.
When she believes she has found the perfect spot, she takes the scroll from her gear and begins the incantation. Instantly she feels herself become one with the earth. The roots of the tree twisting deeper, seeking fresh water. The palm fronds wide and open for the sun rays. It is a pity she can't do this everyday. It is absolute tranquility.
At sunset, Aexana watches with an unwavering gaze, as a fiery red orb of light slowly sinks beneath the horizon, and threads of light linger in the sky, mingling with the rolling clouds, dyeing the heavens first orange, then red, then dark blue, until all that is left of the sunset is a chalky mauve.
Sequin-silver stars like the glowing embers of a dying fire wink down at her, illuminating the ink-like curtain of sky, and then suddenly the clouds part, and she finds herself looking at a lustrous, argent disc casting brilliant rays of moonlight onto the dark grounds.
She has seen a number of natural creatures go about their day - the sea turtle that crept from the sands to the sea, the birds that peck around the ground for a piece of fruit that may have fallen. By far, the most remarkable of all though is the appearance of a pure white horse with a single long ivory horn on its brow. Of all the creatures Aexana could have encountered, a Unicorn would probably not have been what she was expecting. The magestic beast walks slowly along the smooth, sandy beach with the reflection of the moon glistening on the waves behind it. The unicorn even goes so far as to approach and eat some of the grass that surrounds the base of Aexana's tree-form. And as calmy as it arrived, it then departs. Continuing its journey along the shore of the beach until it can no longer be seen.
(OOC: I kid you not, I rolled for random encounters and actually rolled 'Unicorn'. That has to be a good omen for a druid!)
----------
It is nightfall when the Lionfish makes it to the island where Aexana is undergoing her rite of passage. The ship is safely anchored, and the crew are in good spirits since the chance to restock. It is possible for someone to go ashore, but with Aexana in tree form there is no telling where she would be!
There is not much for the crew (or party) to do now but wait for morning.
Spire feels great pain in his hand from scribing all day. The rocking of the ship made it that much more difficult, but at least the task is done.
He settles down for the night, but no sooner is he asleep than his dream is interupted. Spire can clearly see the image of a young human cleric. Brother Engev from Bonetown. "Spirysn'rar, my friend, I hope this dream finds you well. I apologise for this intrusion but I needed to urgently speak with you of something that concerns my order. We have tried to contact Yel'kno, but to no avail. Something is greatly amiss in the Wold. We are receiving reports of many disasters occurring in the Middle Seas. Our divinations are leading us to reach only one conclusion - a new immortal power is rising in the Wold. Unfortunately it's acts lead us to believe it is hostile. If you are still in the area then I urge you to take great caution in your journeys. Having said that we have a favor to ask. We have lost contact with one of our Brothers in Sanctuary Cove on Totem Island. We are fearing the worst, but do not wish to give up hope. If you and your crew are nearby, I humbly beseech you, please check in on him. You are the only ones we know of that can aid us."

The night is quiet for the most part.
Coer plays dressup - tryin on his new cloak and amulet.
Terser and Sam discuss 'dwarf', but neither can place him. Though they know many people from the Scab, being home to so many dwarves and gnomes it would be impossible to know them all.
Spire finally emerges from his cabin, looking rather ill. Is it just seasickness or is he suffering from something more serious? Whatever it may be, he seeks Coer out to let him know of the dream he was sent.
Sam too takes the time to pay the Captain a visit to let him in on the bards mission.
A busy night is in store for Coer!
Magana and Jozhur continue discussions on the potential for mounting a ballista on the deck of the Lionfish. As Jozhur correctly points out, though there is room for such a weapon it would make movement on the ship difficult for the taurs.
The sun rises in the morning and it looks like it will be a beautiful day.
Aexana feels at one with the Wold. The rest of her time as a tree is peaceful but uneventful. She watches as the Lionfish anchors nearby - so close in fact that she can make out the figures on deck. Just when she feels she can take it no longer, the spell finally expires. Aexana has the fatigued condition due to remaining awake for 36+hrs
Magana (Craig) [HP 81 of 81] Friday August 29th, 2014 1:21:46 PM
Ballista: A ballista is essentially a Huge heavy crossbow fixed in place. Its size makes it hard for most creatures to aim it. Thus, a Medium creature takes a --4 penalty on attack rolls when using a ballista, and a Small creature takes a --6 penalty. It takes a creature smaller than Large two full-round actions to reload the ballista after firing.
A ballista takes up a space 5 feet across.
(not trying to be argumentative, i just don't see why it would be a problem to mount one on the Foc's'le Deck where there is already a mount for one. That doesn't seem to be a high traffic area... just thought it would be fun to have one!)

Coer stops looking in his mirror when Sam knocks on his door and confides his mission from the sage's guild. "Congratulations. You clearly impressed them. How will you report your findings - if any? We caused some serious damage to old Bill, he may not be rising again soon. We will keep an eye out to assist you."
Coer bids Sam good night and returns to the mirror, only to have a new knock at the door. He opens it, expecting Sam again, and is suprised to see Spire. Well sort of... "Spire! You're out of your room. Why is your face covered? Come in, come in." he ushers Spire in and listens to the the details of the dream.
"Immortal power. Hmmm... old Bill might be more trouble than we thought. And we probably made him mad. Get some rest, we will tell the crew once Aex returns in the morning."
He shows Spire out and looks him over, assessing his odd attire.

(Aex takes -2 DEX and -2 STR due ti fatigue)
Aexana falls to her knees... she understands! ... The Lionfish isn't far from the shore... but still it's far when you haven't slept in 36 hours.
All she can do is transform to a Dolphin again and swim for the Lionfish. Once next to the Lionfish she transforms back to her own Gnome self and shouts for her friends...
"Someone help me up please!"
When on board, Aex seeks out her hamock and crashes for a good long sleep...

Sam leaves Coer's quarters and hears Aexana's cries (much later, I'd assume). Being a gnome himself, he has little hope of saving her. He yells for deckhands to lower a rope to Aexana.

Magana "ums" and "ahs" about a ballista. The Lionfish is 20 feet across, but then there are the rails, the rigging, the masts, and so on. It may be a tight squeeze for the taurs to move around it (assuming it is mounted centred so as to balance properly), but other similar vessels have managed to mount a ballista on deck.
Coer has company - in the form of Sam and Spire. He has nothing but kind words to say for Sam's appointment. Spire's appearance though concerns Coer and he tries to look him over to make sure he is ok. Coer notes that he will brief the crew when Aexana returns.
Aexana is extremely tired. So tired that she can't even pull herself on deck. Sam tries to lower a rope but does not have the upper body strength to pull a soaking wet Aexana from the water. Jozhur takes the lead and dives in to give the druid (or is it greenmage now?) a hand.
Jozhur is able to keep Aex's head above water, and is able to keep them both by the rope. It should be an easy task you'd think for one of the taurs to pull a gnome out of the sea.
With no sign of the captain, Sammy and Tommy do the hard yards and pull Aexana aboard. Jozhur is able to climb aboard by himself very close behind.
Tula meanwhile goes to report in to Coer. "All crew accounted for now, Cap'n. Your orders?"
Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 45 of 45) Monday September 1st, 2014 10:14:48 AM
Zeoll lends a hand to help Aexana aboard.
He does not see the need for the ballista. "Who will be in charrge of it?" he asks. "Who will be firring it? Surrely a minotaurr firring a larrge crrossbow once a rround, or firring a larrge bow twice orr morre a rround, is betterr than firring a huge crrosbow everry otherr round."
"Plus, I like to sleep therre."

Before talking to anyone Aex goes to sleep. She needs a long sleep... Right now, she doesn't care where the Lionfish is heading. The plants were talking to her and she understood... she has been offered the powers of the Greenmages... (Aex is now Druid 6 / Greenmage 1)
Magana (Craig) [HP 81 of 81] Monday September 1st, 2014 11:39:53 PM
Magana throws up her hands in surrender when her inquiries into a ballista meets with stiff resistance.
After helping pull Aexana aboard, she paces the deck. A dark mood settles on her with the extended lack of action. She keeps peering at the crows nest, making sure it is manned and hoping for an Ahoy! preceding a call to arms.
Sam (David W): 14/12/13 -- CMD 14 -- HP 48/48 Tuesday September 2nd, 2014 2:47:59 AM
Sam awaits the captain's orders. With no obvious destination in his mind, he doesnt question any possibility nearby. Once the destination is named, Sam starts studying maps. He familiarizes himself with every detail he finds.
DM RobC - Just relaxing on a tropical island Tuesday September 2nd, 2014 6:51:22 AM
Zeoll has many questions about a ballista, and even goes to question its effectiveness vs a taur with a bow. One could also make some arguments for the ever popular spell: fireball!
Magana does her best not to sulk, but emotions are always clear on a taurs face.
Aex makes it to her bunk, and there she plans to stay for the foreseeable future. The past two days have taken their toll on her.
Sam and Terser look to each other, and then to Coer for direction.
In the interest of pushing ahead... (and per Mark/Coer's post on Friday)
Coer makes an announcement to the crew. Spire has received a message from a friend in Bonetown.
Sam is well aware of the geography in these parts. If the Lionfish was to continue its journey to Bonetown, Sanctuary Cove would be but a few days out of the way. What's more, it is quite close to Bonetown (Sanctuary Cove is on Totem Island, which is adjacent to Pearl Island, home of Bonetown!). If Billoopl is involved at Sanctuary Cove, then Bonetown itself may be in danger if nothing is done.
Coerator (Mark) AC17/16/14 -- CMD 23 -- HP 80/80 (Ki 7/7) Tuesday September 2nd, 2014 8:57:42 AM
Coer makes his announcement to the crew and explains that Brother Engev is an ally and friend based in Bonetown.
"Raise anchor. We sail for Sanctuary Cove. I want eyes on the water at all times. If Billoopl has influence from Gullport to Bonetown, we are sailing in his territory."
Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 45 of 45) Tuesday September 2nd, 2014 2:15:24 PM
Zeoll nods. "That's a fine courrse, Captain Coerr. How long will it take to get to Sanctuarry Cove?"
If it is more than a day, Zeoll will sleep on the destination, hoping for some clue from the spirits as to what we can expect there, or what challenge we are facing.
