"What's the difference between spinach and boogers?" Salty asked after he downed his tenth glass of ale. "Ogres don't eat spinach!"
And he laughed.
And laughed.
And passed out.
You started to help Salty, but the waitress brushed you away. "Don't you worry about the Old Fella. He sleeps best with some ale in his belly and a bar as a pillow. He'll wake up soon and I'll see to him. Besides, you big fellas have more important things to do."
A short while later, you all reunited in front of the catacombs. You ponder what to do next when a young boy ran up to you, bowed and handed you an invitation.
"Master Cameron cordially invites you to the grand opening of his new inn, The Vampire's Tooth. He wants you to be guests of honor for all that you did for him and the other servants. The event is tomorrow evening. A tailor and hairdresser will be sent to visit you tomorrow afternoon. They will groom you, dress you, and see that you all look splendid. Master Cameron hopes that you will accept this gift, and agree to be his guests of honor."
The young boy waited patiently for an answer.

Barratore laughs at Salty's joke and grabs another drink. When he turns back, the man is face down. Barratore shrugs and commences working on the next drink.
Eventually he is at the catacombs and bristling at the notion of being groomed and dressed. He growls at Peza, "I will not be groomed."

Gerox pulls out a copper piece and hands it to the boy and says, "Tell Master Cameron that we will all be glad to accept his invitation." He turns to Barratore and says, " You could probably use a good brushing out. When was the last time you had a good hot bath?"
OOC I am throwing in my +2 headband into the loot as partial payment. I will also take the +3 cloak if no one else wants it. I can pay for it with cash if that helps.

Gerox touches his new headband feeling more handsome, confident and just plain desirable. He can't wait to try it out with the ladies later that day. He says to others, "I think we need more healing magic or need to recruit a cleric to be in our group. Not having one is going to limit our ability to sustain fights and push on into danger. I plan on buying some potions but that isn't an ideal situation by any means."
OOC the way I am confused on how to read the treasure list. Do I get money or do I owe money?

A knock is heard on your door about twenty minutes after sunrise. A sturdy older woman with a bulbous nose and hands the size of a lumberjack greets you at your door.
"We'll be needing to start with you fellas early" she explained. "You all got the smell of the road on ya, and no half days washing is going to take it off."
With that she barged in the door with several similarly sturdy servants in tow. They carried large tubs, pots of hot water, and all manner of soap, brushes and other grooming products.
"Well don't just stand there!" She scolded. "Off with your clothes! And don't you be shy about it. Once you've mothered, you've seen if all, and we've mothered plenty."
A hot bath awaited you, as did the servants who stood at the ready with scissor, scouring pad and razor. Meanwhile the old woman prodded you on - "If you don't get in, I'll have your ear."

Gerox counts out the gold he owes the group and gives it to Brom who is splitting up the loot. He then strips down and hops into a tub disappearing under the water for a few seconds as he plunges to the bottom. His head pops back up and he smiles at the old ladies ready to be scrubbed and groomed.
He says to the others, "They certainly got this Inn up and moving fast after they escaped the vampires. It is good to see oppressed people we have helped get back on their feet and moving getting ahead. I wonder if this is a thank you or more of a come see the vampire slayers to help pull in business for them."

Barratore restates his intention that he will not be groomed. A hot bath was a reasonable request and he would oblige on that level. Looking at Gerox, "You have the need to brush something, there are horses out back. I need brushing like you need hairy feet. It is not happening."
When the group assaults the compound, the minotaur snorts, but otherwise plays along. Barratore retires to his room to remove armor and store his weapons. His pack and other gear that he might take on the road was already cleaned and stored. Barratore undresses and grabs a large robe to wear through the common areas on his way to where the baths are set. He will settle into a tub large enough for his frame and issue one final comment on grooming, "Attempt to groom me and I will hang you in the rafters."

The old lady and her team instantly get to work on cleaning up Gerox. The scrub his back and arms until they are raw, cut his nails and hair.
"Now that's a good lad" the old lady said. "Sparkling clean. Not like itchy and scratchy over there." She gave a dirty look to Brom and Barratore. "Embarrassing to show up at a gathering looking and smelling like that. Downright insulting. But if they want to stink, they can stink. You can lead a couple of horses to water but you can't make them swim."
And on she went.

"What you need is a good spanking" the old woman said to Brom after he called her a hag. "Maybe then you'd learn some manners."
The lady was obviously upset. Her effort at cleaning intensified and skin started to become raw. A few hours later you were all done and ready to go.
"You look ravishing! Absolutely ravishing" The old woman said to everyone but Brom. You can't help but agree with her. You've never looked so good. (OOC- temporary increase to charisma +2, 4 hours, for everyone that let her clean you up).
"Now get yourself to the party" she said kindly.
...
A short while later you arrived at the Vampire's Tooth and are greeted at the door by Cameron. "Welcome, welcome!" he said. "So glad you could make it to celebrate our opening. Please eat and drink all that you can. Your coin is no good here. But first a blessing and a toast!"
Cameron got everyone's attention, and said a short speech about how the Vampire's Tooth was established. He talked vaguely about his experience being dominated, and described all of you as the heroes that rescued him and the other servants. When he was finished his speech a priest was summoned, who said a short prayer blessing the place.
"Now let the festivities begin!" Cameron said enthusiastically. Suddenly drinks appeared. They were blood red. "We call it the Vampire's Tooth! Now let's have a toast shall we?"
Cameron turned to all of you. "My friends and guests of honor. Would you be so kind to honor us with a toast?"

Cameron personally makes his way over to Gerox and refills his glass. "Excellent toast, my friend. To the WLA indeed! Several of us are actually planning on joining it actually. There isn't any chance that you'd put in a word for us, would you?"

Edson hung back and did not mingle with his friends. It was nothing against them, he was just late to the party. Perhaps not drinking this time paid off. His ever present ability to see the whole of the situation allowed him to spot the two men. He took his water and moved with the flow of the crowd, trying not to let the men notice him moving closer. Once at a table, close in proximity to the men, he pretends to drink and watch the party but in actuality is listening and watching the men.

Barratore downs drink 2 and gets a refill. He found he rather enjoyed the sweet flavor with the more spicy after effect. He looks to Peza and Gerox to spin a few tales for the gathered folk. "Tell the tale of the giant Squid. That's a good one Peza" Barratore has a similar mission to Brom, except that he only planned as far as get drunk. Fun always followed.
As to what others about might or might not be up to, Barratore was not paying much attention. Tonight was a party and parties were meant to last.

Gerox from his vantage point notices the two men watching and also notices Edson keeping an eye out on them. He smiles to himself and casts the message cantrip discretely pointing to Brom and murmers, "We have gathered some attention from the two sword toting gentlemen across the room. Go easy on the booze until we finger out their intentions. Edson is on it."
He turns as Cameron comes up to him and takes a glass of the house specialty but refrains from drinking it in case trouble emerges. "Of course we could sponser them. It can be a tough life but rewarding. I have enjoyed it but do they have the proper skills to join? Who are they? Are they here?"
DM Jeff -Yowza! Tuesday August 26th, 2014 12:52:30 AM Edson hung off to the side, and watched the two men closely, all the while pretending to sip on his drink. He managed to hear all of their conversation.
"What do they have that we don't have? I bet you we could take them. That's why the Big Bend neighbourhood hired us first. They don't need these guys."
Barratore drank and drank some more. He then spurned Peza and Gerox on to tell a few tales.
"Yes please tell us, one of the ladies in earshot begged. Tell us all!"
Peza ignored the lady for the time being and concentrated on Cameron, whom she complimented for his ability to make the most of a situation.
"Truly, it was a terrible experience" Cameron commented. "But it also helped me appreciate just how shortly life can be. One can not lollygag. You have to make the most of every situation."
Gerox notices the two men, and warns his friends- "We have gathered some attention from the two sword toting gentlemen across the room. Go easy on the booze until we finger out their intentions. Edson is on it." He then offers to sponsor Cameron with he WLA. Cameron is overjoyed.

Shortly thereafter a young and very attractive Halfling woman arrives at the inn with a pile of papers in hand. She walked over to Cameron, handed them to him, and congratulated him. "You are now the newest member of the Tavern Guild" she said.
"Gentleman, may I introduce you to Fruda. She is the best and brightest of the Tavern Guild, and beautiful to boot."
Fruda smiled and greeted you all. She then broke into a speech about the guild, the importance of administrative controls on alcohol, and how the guild's role should be expanded in the city. The speech became boring very quickly, though her looks made it more enjoyable.

OOC: Sorry for the missed post. Went to post and internet was out. Charter seems to always be out when I want to get on.
Brom had noticed the mercenaries eyeing up the group. He paid them no mind. He was used to people trying to get a measure of the large human.
"Yeah, I saw them." He says looking and pointing at the two. "Always someone thinking if they can take Brom or not - nothin' new. I got this." Says the burly barbarian. He grabs a couple of drinks and heads over to the mercenaries.
"Howdy." He says while he grabs a chair to sit at their table. "See ya been watchin' us fer a while. Know whatcha been thinkin'. He doesn't look tough," Brom says drinking one of the drinks in one drink, "I think we can take'em." He says drinking the other drink the say way. "So we don't end up causing all the people here lots o'problems you tell me when and where. We can do a little sparring match then everyone'll be happy. We don't trash the tavern, and you can find out if can match up with me, or us." He says pointing back over his shoulder to the others. "Maybe make a little money gamblin' on it. It'll be fun and I'm always about fun, and fightin'."
If they agree or not, Brom says "I'm out of drink, have fun." He leaves unless there is more they want to talk about.
"I got a story." Shouts Brom. "How bout the snake-vulture creature." He says while getting another drink. He proceeds to tell the tale of his fight with the snake-vulture. "I even got a fang. The dang thing is almost three feet long."

the ranger certainly likes that Cameron is getting some help from the Taveren guild .... but too much administrative controls is something she isnt high on .... freedom to conduct business is teh way it should be ... but the guild will certainly have its uses

The words fighting, fun and Brom make their way into Barratores head and he looks about for the known source, Brom. He was talking to a couple men, well it was only two and so Barratore shrugs and turns back about.
"You mean the Snake Vulture that wouldn't come near me?" Barratore bellows over to Brom with a great grin. "Or are you talking about the time I saved you from the Snake Scorpion?!" Barratore is standing and moving to Brom, another drink in his hand and one for his brother in arms

Gerox drifts away from the pretty halfling. While she was good to look at, anyone who wanted more regulations wasn't someone he cared to cultivate to strongly. He buys a pitcher and grabs a couple of mugs and decides to take matters into his own hands with the two swordslingers. He turns and sees Brom already sitting down at there table.
He will head over and place three mugs down on their table and start pouring some beers and say, "Hi, I am Gerox and It is always good to meet intelligent folks." He gestures to the mugs and says, "Help yourselves. I like to drink with new friends. You want to be our friends right? We help our friends and support them during the tough times. Of course if folks choose to be our enemies, we can help them also. We help them into the ground. That is the safest thing to do with enemies.
Now I can see why some might be people might not like us. The citizens are happy with us." Gerox gestures to the party being held in their honor. "They think we are snobby or not worthy of the attention. Or even a bit jealous but honestly while we enjoy the attention and accolades we don't have any intention of becoming a "guard or police force." We have be asked to help in their organization and training. I bet two brave and intelligent guys like yourselves might do well in that kind of organization. You can protect and police Rum while we at the WLA take on the bigger issues. Vampires and other undead, Giant crabs and crazy sea creatures. Works best for everyone. Don't you agree?

Brom boldly approached the two men. One of them is completely caught off guard and instantly backed down. The other is more self-assure. "What do you say we make it interesting" he said, gaining confidence. "We fight with saps. Last one standing gets 200 gold? But not tonight. We're on duty."
Meanwhile Peza clapped eagerly, which draws a smile from the Halfling woman.
Barratore drank, boasted and brought a drink over to Brom.
Gerox ordered a drink and approached the two men. The less brave of the pair was eager to be friends. The other continued to hold his ground. "Yes, that's exactly what you do with enemies" he agreed. He wasn't so agreeable when it came to the difference in roles. He actually became somewhat defensive- "I'm not afraid of vampires, or anyone else" he claimed.
"Of course your not" another voice chimed in. The voice belonged to a sturdy looking man that was adorned in fine armor and a grey cloak. As he walked over to the table you could tell that he too was confident, but that confidence came honestly.
"I hope you two aren't drinking" he said to the two men. "You are supposed to be on duty." Then he turned to Gerox and Brom. "It is my pleasure to meet you. My name is Hogral. My two friends here belong to my small troop, who has been hired to keep the peace in the Big Bend district. It's a small area, but it keep my team of five very busy."
"Anyhow, we best be turning in. But if you ever want to chat or if you're ever looking for work, come see me. We've rented 3rd and 4th floor of Rogral's Tenements."
Hogral and his men turned to leave. Hogral left with a bow. The fearful man left with an apologetic nod, and scurried away. The overconfident man left with an invitation to Brom. "Come see me sometime. And don't forget your sap."

"Come near you. I looked like you wouldn't go near it." He says in response to Barratore. "Good thing for us, I didn't have that problem." He counters taking his jab at the minotaur.
"Sounds fun." he says. "A sap?" says the barbarian with an inquisitive tone in his voice. "Can't say I ever used one. If I didn't want something dead, I just used my fists. If you're good with that, I'll just use my fists. You can have your sap."
"And you, Hogral." Brom says.
"I'll bring the ale. We can get drunk afterwards so make sure you'll be off duty." He says.

Barratore looks across the room and crowd at the gathering about Brom and now Gerox. Barraote goes back to more important matters, more food, drink and having a good time. "What this party needs is a bard." he says to no one in particularly. Barratore flags down a few more drinks and some food and returns to a comfortable spot somewhere in the tavern. The specific location is unimportant. A room full of friends, drink, food and stories. Barratore didn't think a night could get much better

As she keeps mingling and buying drinks for tables as she meets and greets ... she also inquires about Hogral and his troop ... [ is the taverern in the big bend district ? ][ and their reputation ?]

When the men leave, the khukri comes out of Edson's hand. He claps Brom on the shoulder.
"You my friend, would scare the beard off a dwarf." He says as he moved back over to the group.

Brom scoffs at Gerox's comment. "Now don't scare the man. It's not like he's gonna die or something." He says looking at the man. "Well...it happened once...but that was an accident." Brom says holding his hands in front as to reassure the man. "Just two men talkin' with fists. Totally harmless...fun. An' after we drink so the beatin's don't hurt as bad."
After the men leave, Brom looks at Edson and smiles in response to his comment.

Hogral smiled at Gerox and Brom on his way out the door. "Yes, bring the ale" he said. "It will make for a better meeting. And a happier mood." With that, Hogral exited with the two men.
Things picked up at the party. More food and drinks were served, and then the dancing started!
Soon after a massive cake with large candles was brought out. Cameron stood in front of the cake, blowing and blowing, but the candles continued to burn. When the candles reached the cake...
KABOOM!
It exploded and covered everyone in cake. Nobody seemed to mind much, but it did sort of kill the party. As people started to leave the inn, one of the servants approached you.
"We've made up a suite for you" she said. "Cameron was hoping you might move into them for a time. They will be very comfortable, and your beds and food will be on the house for as long as you want to stay. You would be most welcome."

Cake, Barratore loved cake. Ever since he was first given a piece by a traveling family of halflings that passed through his village when he was young. It was magic, wondrous and new. It had been a long time now and Barratore moved to view and smell the cake as the candles were lit. The candle thing, Barratore understood to signify a birthday to humans, so it struck him odd they were on it at all, no matter though. It was cake and the Minotaur was salivating at the thought of it. The explosion and loss of cake was unexpected and caused him to jolt himself back as the blast wave sent pieces of confectionary flying. Barratore's shoulders drooped and his head fell slightly. He knew a joke when he saw one, even one as cruel as destroying a cake. It was in good fun, just bad taste. That thought struck him a bit. Destruction of a cake was in bad taste. Huh. Might even be a joke in that.
Barratore shook his head free and looked for where he might start trying to clean up. Party was over that was for certain. Barratore shakes off his hands and gives the servant a queer look. "Move in? I don't think so." Only after he has answered does he look at any of the others. "I will take Cameron up on it tonight though." Barratore looks to head to the suite to further remove cake and get some sleep

She doesnt expect everyone to stay but she was sure some would .... but sleeping on a real bed ... now that was something she was looking forward too

Gerox smiles as the cake explodes and he grabs some cake out of the air and takes a bite enjoying the flavor. When asked if he would like to stay, he asks to take a look at the suite. Once he inspects it, he realizes that the bed would be more comfortable than the cot at the WLA and readily agrees to stay.
He seeks out Cameron and pulls him aside, "I appreciate your offer and understand some of your reasoning behind it (sense motive 20) but I must warn you too. We mix with dangerous people. Your vampires just being an example. While we will be helpful in keeping the riffraff at bay, we might attract the attention of more dangerous foe. I am honored to stay here but I think you need to consider that as well. Make sure you are comfortable with that before you offer extended stays to us. Right now I think it will be safe enough but who knows what the future will hold."

The cake was certainly a way to end the party. Brom found it humorous and tasty. He is not sure about staying since he likes to sleep off hos drinking until late morning or early afternoon. As he sees others accept the lodging, he agrees and makes his way up to the prepared room.
