Evaris, at AD11, casts Water Walk on them what desires it, including Faust, . [Speak now if you have not already!]
Faust waits at AE9.
Yeshua and Truman hide under the wharf at AE-AF15. [Stealth checks please if you wish to hide!]
Emrysis at AD13 ... without checking, let's say your elixer lasts one hour.
Zero stands 20 ft north of the dead dragon turtle thing. Or rather, ROOTS in plant form.
Scales stands on the wharf at AG15.
Ariach stands at AD15.
Grell, Lowell, and Rag are ready. (where?)
==========
At this point, the butchering of the dragon corpse is started but not nearly done. Those involved in the butchering -- Yeshua, Grell, Truman, and Scales -- are soiled with blood and offal.
The human rides on his wyvern and lands in the surf east of the dead dragon-turtle thing. He is wearing dragonhide armor, with a helm shaped like dragon's head, and a shield shaped like a dragon's scale (but big).
He lays a hand on the dragon and sighs. Perception or Sense Motive 15: Highlight to display spoiler: {Tears are running down his cheeks.}

Then he sees Zero race forward and quaffs his Mage Armor potion.
"He weeps!" Had he been wrong about his treachery? He feels sorrow for this beast, but he had to know by sending him here he was putting him in harm's way!
The magic he begins to cast seems entirely strange and unique. He's both alarmed and intrigued by it. If the dragon is that target, and the spell is reminiscent of a summoning, then his eyes go wide with a realization. "Could this, could this be like a reincarnation of sorts? A summons of a new body for the dragon's soul to occupy?"
Then Ariach goes charging off and he doesn't know what to do. This could be a moment where diplomacy has a chance. "Ariach, this spell is not an attack!"

Grell was wondering the same thing.
Emrys determines that each one is likely an elemental creature of some sort!
The waterspouts race (run) closer, covering 360 ft in a single round. Now they are 140 ft from you! They are like tornadoes of water, but you can make out menacing eyes in the foam. They are continuing right for you! The crew cries out in alarm.

Yeshua ties a safety line connecting himself and Truman to the mast.

Ariach holds his mace ready.
Evaris casts water breathing on everybody.
Zero changes into a giant squid and swims out to meet the enemy, which he sees are indeed water elementals, although, unusually, their waterspout form is like a whirlpool that is walking atop the waves!
Lowell is ready to fire -- and since they are only 90 ft away, why not take a shot now? Is Lowell reluctant to attack? The creatures are clearly heading right for you!
Grell has no reluctance, and he fires at one, hitting it for 10 damage. But the thing's DR5 reduces that to just 5 damage against WaterSpout 2.
Emrys calms three of them, and they will stay calm until attacked or until Emrys stops concentrating. (marked with purple fills on the map).

New business: Enemy actions: Bottom of Round One!
Each of the five uncalmed elementals move ...
Spout One moves to the north of the ship. It is like a funnel, narrow at the base and wide at the top. As it brushes the ship's hull moving west, the top part of the spout washes over the side of the ship. Therefore, Grell, Lowell, and Evaris must make Refelx saves vs DC19 for 12 damage or 6 on a save. ALSO, Grell, Lowell, and Evaris must make another DC19 Reflex save or be lifted up into the waterspout.
Spout Two follows Spout One, but does not get all the way to Evaris. Grell and Lowell -- IF YOU WERE NOT LIFTED UP BY SPOUT ONE -- make Refelx saves vs DC19 for 12 damage or 6 on a save. ALSO, Grell and Lowell, make another DC19 Reflex save or be lifted up into WaterSpout Two.
Spout Three changes into a water elemental, moves 10 ft from Zero, and attacks with a slam. It hits AC17, which hits Zero's AC16, for 7 damage to Zero.
Spout Four moves along the south-facing hull of the ship. Ariach, Truman, and Yeshua must make Reflex saves vs DC19 for 6 damage or 3 on a save. ALSO, Ariach Only must make another DC19 Reflex save or be lifted up into the waterspout. (Yeshua and Truman are tied to the mast and cannot be lifted up.)
Finally, Spout Five follows Spout 4. Ariach and Truman -- IF YOU WERE NOT LIFTED UP BY SPOUT FOUR (and Truman was not) -- make Refelx saves vs DC19 for 7 damage or 3 on a save. ALSO, Ariach, make another DC19 Reflex save or be lifted up into WaterSpout Five (unless you were picked up by WaterSpout Four).
Emrys, staying away from the edges of the boat, is out of reach of the water spouts!
=====
IF YOU ARE IN A WATERSPOUT: You cannot move except to go where the waterspout carries you -- but you can attempt to escape the waterspout. IF you have a swim speed, you can attempt a Reflex save vs DC19 as a standard action each round to escape. You can otherwise act normally, but must succeed on a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell. You take a -4 penalty to Dexterity and a -2 penalty on attack rolls. With the water breathing spell, there is no chance of drowning.
Please make your saves as indicated and then post for Round Two. If you want to know if you or others are picked up, you can just save and then delay your action to see who is grabbed by a waterspout.

Ariach hits the Spout that is carrying him, Spout 4, for 13-5=8.
Evaris concentrates, casts a spell, and hits Spout 1 for 7 damage -- and since it is energy damage, it penetrates the thing's DR.

And the description of whirlwind, IIRC, says that the only escape is with a successful reflex save AND a fly speed. For the waterspout, I rule you need a reflex save and a swim speed. I would surely make an alowance for a Blink or Teleport spell, etc. However, your Air Walk spell will nonetheless prove an excellent use of your action this round, as you will see. Struggling, he manages to get out (Reflex d20 + 9 - 4= 23), but not before he notices his brother attacking the spout, trying to help him get out. He has two choices, swim to the boat or try to help from the water? He quickly decides to try to get to the boat. I'll be more useful from the boat.... Don't worry Grell! Emrys ac13, hp32/37 elixir of insight, see invisibility Sunday October 5th, 2014 11:07:09 PM
After the elementals move so far away with his friends in their clutches, Emrys is quickly filled with horror. His plan of two evils (mentioned in the last post) just became impossible. All he can simply do now is concentrate on his spell for as long as he can and hope for the best.
Grell gets angry, hitting Spout 2 for 25 points after DR.
Attacking Elemental 5, Zero rips into it for 8 with a bite, 16 with claws, and 13 with a tentacle! But that's not all! Sqid-Zero graps the thing and squeezes it, and that inflicts enough damage to send it back to the watery plane from whence it was summoned! It literally pops in Zero's grasp, and is GONE!
Ariach takes a swing and barely misses. [OOC: Ariach, note that with your +8 BAB, you get an extra second attack at -5 when you are making a full round attack. Feel free to roll for that if you like.]
Royston attacks Spout 4, hitting for 8 after DR.
Lowell looks for a chance to swim away!
Without a ranged attack, Yeshua casts a buff on Truman and calls for Zero to lure one within reach.
Emrys continues to concentrate on the spell that keeps three of the monsters at bay.

Bottom of Round 3!
ALL Water Spouts change into water elementals! All held characters are dropped into the water (except Evaris, who ends up Air Walking 5 ft up above the surface of the sea).
That's Lowell's chance! Using the withdraw action, he swims 15 ft closer to the boat. [Per the rules, "A DC10 Swim check allows you to swim a quarter of your speed as a move action or half your speed as a full-round action."
Elemental One slams Evaris with its 10 ft reach, but without the benefit of its water mastery power since Evaris is not touching water. It hits AC18 twice, missing lucky Evaris by one both times! [Die roller loves you, Evaris!]
Elemental Two slams Grell with water mastery against ACs 15 and 17! That's good enough to hit its raging attacker twice, inflicting 17 damage to Grell!
Elemental Three attacks Zero with water mastery, slamming ACs 28 and 18, hitting Zero twice for total 24 damage!
Elemental Four attacks [rolling odd for Ariach, even for Royston ... odd!] Ariach, slamming with water mastery against ACs 29 and 28, slamming Ariach but once for 8 damage.
Elemental Five has been sent back. Elementals Six through Eight are CALMED.

Top of Round 4!
ZeroSquid rips into Elemental 3, inflicting 14+5+5+6 after DR5 for 30 damage! Then he grabs the thing and squeezes it for another 22! That's 52 damage this round!
Yeshua grabs a rope and moves to the rear of the ship, ready to throw a lifeline to anyone who needs it. He sees Lowell swimming to the ship, but he is still about 40 ft away.
Evaris's spell whacks Elemental 1 for 3 more damage as the hero withdraws. Note that Evaris is at 5 ft altitude currently -- well within elemental reach. Does he ascend as he walks through the air?
Ariach heroically hits for 13 damage ... but that's cut in half in the water for a blunt weapon, so that's 6, and then the elemental's DR5 reduces that to a mere 1 hp damage to Elemental 4. Note that your secondary attack is at -5, so if your first attack is at +10, say, then your second should be at +5.
Royston's first claw misses, second hits with piercing damage for 9 -5DR = 4. His piercing bite hits for 17 -5DR = 12. Total 16 damage to Elemental 4.
Grell hits with two massive blows for 22 damage each! But attacking in water cuts that in half, to 11 and 11. And then DR5 reduces that to 6 and 6. Grell inflicts 12 damage to Elemental 2.

At This Point, I need Evaris's altitude (if he stays low, he will be attacked). Lowell and Emrys have not posted. It seems safe to say that Emrys will still concentrate on the Calming. Lowell will swim toward the boat. So I'll finish the bottom of Round 4 as soon as I get Evaris's altitude.

OOC Note to Zero Especially! I was under the impression that a giant squid was large in size, like the elementals, and that both squid and elementals had a 10 ft reach. But I realize now that Zero in Squid shape is HUGE, with a 15 ft reach. So I'm applying an AoO's worth of damage to Water Elemental Three in all fairness ... and that is enough to kill it! It goes POP and is gone.
Elemental 1 - Charges Evaris, reaching up for a slam! It hits AC28 for 12 damage to Evaris.

Top of Round 5!
Royston hits Elemental 4 for 3 damage, continuing to chip away at it.
Ariach also continues to struggle to inflict damage on Elemental 4. He hits for 8, rounded down to 4, then with DR5, reduced to zero. He also hits for 13, rounded down to 6, then DR5 brings that to a single point of damage. Oh, for a piercing weapon!
Zero attacks Elemental 1 and misses, but sets himself up for an AoO should an enemy advance upon him.
Yeshua and Truman both leap from the ship to attack Elemental 1! Each one hits for 6 damage, but DR5 brings that down to 1 hp inflicted by each. Note that you are both now swimming, so you have to make swim checks plus see below for limits (including half damage unless you have piercing weapons!)
Lowell keeps swimming toward the ship.
Evaris's spiritual weapon hits Elemental 1 for 4 damage. Evaris himself airwalks toward Grell and Lowell -- he calls to them to come near for a Water Walk spell -- but the brothers ignore him! As he backs away, Evaris provokes an AoO, which hits AC14, a miss!
Grell again hits for 27 -- cut in half by fighting in water to 13, and with DR5, that means 8 damage to Elemental 2! That's enough to send it back to the Elemental Plane of Water!
While still concentrating on his Calm Emotions [OOC: what's the duration on that?], Emrys also heroically casts a Fear spell on Elemental 1, carefully angling it so that it does not affect any friends. The elemental rolls a will save of 14 and fails!

Bottom of Round 6
Three Calm elementals are left. They will not be calm next round! They cannot attack, but they sense that the time is coming for them to act. They move to prepare for what comes next.
The first one, Elemental 6, moves close to Zero, provoking an AoO in doing so. Do you take the AoO, Zero, knowing that it will break the calm for the bottom of the round?

Zero felt the world around him getting a lot smaller. His first instinct was to attack with the water elementals guards down, but common sense got the better of him. The counterattack would surely cost him his life. Zero needed to retreat, and he needed to to do it carefully.
His body began to contort and shrink. When the transistion was complete he took to the skies.
Actions: -Wild shape - standard action that doesn't draw an AOO. -If he can move without drawing an AOO he will turn into a dragon horse and fly up at an angle of 45 degrees; his move is 120 degrees so it would put him out of reach. -if a movement AOO is a possibility he will turn into a small elemental, which should put him at Y19 and just out of reach of all of the elementals. OOPS! DM Post early in the AM!
Note that Evaris is walking on air, Grell and Lowell are walking on water, and Yeshua, Royston, and Ariach are swimming. Zero is swimming, but he is about to be flying. Truman and Emrys are on the ship.
Zero, aware that an attack of opportunity could doom him, changes into a small air elemental and flies 50 ft straight up.
Ariach and Royston swim south -- Royston also cures himself.
Half-wounded and certainly no great fighter, Evaris hustles south to S21, provoking an AoO and practically daring an elemental to attack him! The elemental does not take that AoO. Nonetheless, Evaris, you earn a hero point for your bravery.
Yeshua manages to swim back to the boat this time.
[OOC: Friends, we are missing 3/8 of our strength here, seeing as Grell, Lowell, and Emrys have yet to post. It's been about 36 hours since the last DM post, but it does not seem fair to those who have posted to delay the game further. Your DM chooses to advance the turn.]
Grell and Lowell are getting their sea legs. They can both walk on water now.
Emrys's spell ends at the end of his turn -- NOW freeing the elementals to attack -- and the caster pauses to consider what to do next.

Bottom of Round 7
Elemental 6, evidently holding a grudge, swims to the ship and takes a slam at Emrys with its 10 ft reach. It hits AC32, a natural 20, and follows up with a 15, which confirms agaisnt the AC13 Emrys. Emrys takes 9+7=16 damage.
Elemental 7 takes Evaris's dare and slams at the cleric, hitting AC22 against Evaris's AC19 and applying 9 damage to Evaris.
Elemental 8 swims south, and (even/odd) attacks Royston, missing with a natural 1!

Top of Round 8
Yeshua and Truman cross 10 ft of deck to get to Elemntal 6. With its superior reach, it slams at (even/odd) Truman as the duo approach in concert. The AoO hits AC27 for 12 damage to Truman. If the elemental is surprised to see that the injury affect Yeshua equally, there is no way to read its formless "face."
But then Yeshua and Truman attack! They hurt the thing badly, inflicting 25 damage after DR.
Royston stays afloat with a heroic effort, also casting a spell that has the bad luck to go astray. [OOC: Swiming 15 ft is two move actions. You can swim five feet (7.5 rounded down into a five ft step) closer to Ariach. Also, swimming more than 5 ft provokes an AoO. So your kindly DM keeps you in place to allow Ariach to swim next to you for his interpose ability. Hope that's okay.]
Ariach swims 15 feet to be next to Royston, and that provokes an AoO. The elemental hits AC21, even with water mastery, and that misses. Ariach interposes (which is not at action), and suggests that he protect Royston while Royston attacks. The DM awards Ariach 300 xp as a cleverness award for proposing this tactic and for good teamwork.
Lowell reloads (move action) and steps forward (move action).
Zero changes into an Androsphinx (large size, your DM presumes?). He remains above the fray.
Evaris's spell hurts Elemental 7. The cleric seeks to step back and cast a cure spell. However, note that the elemntal has 10 ft reach, and stepping back five feet still leaves Evaris subject to an AoO and possible disruption of the spell. Does Evaris want to cast it on the defensive? Please roll concentration if so, otherwise your DM will roll the AoO. Also, your DM assumes you remain at altitude 5 ft above the waves?
Grell charges Elemental 7, the one engaged with Evaris. Doing so provokes an AoO (unless the AoO is directed at Evaris, see above). For now, assume that it slams at Grell, hitting AC31 for 6 damage. Then Grell smashes into the summoned monster, hitting it for 26 damage, reduced to 21.
Emrys casts Glitterdust on Elemental 6. It rolls a 9 for its save and fails. It is blind!
Bottom of Round 8!
Elemental 6 lurches forward a step and lashes out blindly twice. It strikes at the empty space next to Yeshua, missing. It strikes at the space containing Truman, possibly hitting! It hits at AC15, missing!
Elemental 7 slams at (even/odd) Grell once and Evaris once. It hits Grell vs AC26 for 12 damage and it hits Evaris vs AC21 for 11 damage[/b].
Elemental 8 attacks (even/odd) Ariach twice, hitting AC25, a miss, and AC29, a hit, for 8 damage to Ariach.

Top of Round 9
Royston swims back five feet and casts his spell, inflicting 9 fire damage.
Ariach swims forward five feet to engage defensively, bringing his already remarkable AC even higher. And he manages to scratch a hole in the elemental, doing 2 damage after DR.
Androsphinx-Zero carefully flies so as to position himself for a roar, intended to affect Elementals 7 and 8 but not any allies. Normally, an androsphinx's roar requires a DC19 will save to resist, but the save is based on Chr, and they have 17 Cha, so the base save vs roar is DC16+Chr. Zero's Chr is 6, so his save is 16-2 = 14. The elementals roll a 21 and a 10; Elemental 8 is Frightened.
Evaris's spell-hammer misses, and Evaris himself withdraws toward Ariach and Royston, offering them a useful buff. (Your kindly DM did not put you in reach of Elemental 8. Correct me if otherwise).
Truman and Yeshua attack the blind elemental, inflicting 23 damage after DR.

Bottom of Round 9
Blind Elemental 6 lashes out at (even/odd) Truman. It passes its miss chance, and it hits AC30 for 6 damage to Truman. It also lashes out at (even/odd) Truman again, passing its miss chance and hitting AC 20 for 6 more damage -- no wait, that's a miss!
Elemental 7 is happy to continue to lash out at Grell. It hits AC28 and AC19 for 7+12 = 19 damage to Grell!
Elemental 8 wants to get away from Zero! It swims 10 ft underwater with a move action, at which point it can no longer see or hear Zero. Then it lashes out at Ariach with a slam ... missing with a slap at AC24. Make that a moot AC22 because it takes Shaken penalties.

Their foe destroyed, Yeshua and Truman can do little more than throw a rope to help anyone who needs help getting back to the boat.
(Re: late night post if DM posts again, teaching at seminary tonight so prob won't be able to post then.)

OOC: lol! Thanks.
Zero maintained position so only the one elemental was in range, and he roared again.
Actions: Roar, fort save or take 5 strength damage. Also, take 4 sonic damage (no save).
Ariach AC 34(29)/15 touch/19 AC, CMD23; HP 49/89 d20+11=21 ; d6+4=8 ; Thursday October 16th, 2014 5:25:14 PM
Ariach thanks Evaris for his support and jumps out of the water. Now not anymore forced to swim he feels much more comfortable. The young warrior tries to retreat to the coast but will not give up his defense.
(using fighting defensively and combat expertise -7hit/+5AC)
If the elemental shows up he attacks it. (hits AC 21 for 3 damage)
Evaris [AC 19; HP 34/64] d20+8=11 ; Thursday October 16th, 2014 10:18:05 PM
Evaris steps back [to W-28], draws his bow, and fires an arrow at the elemental, but it's not a very good shot [hit AC 11, and that's before factoring in the penalties].

Sir Royston intones a brief arcane chant, and points a finger toward Elemental 8. Three pulses of magical energy leap from his hand and strike the watery being. He continues to move back toward the ship.
ooc: Cast magic missile. 11 force damage on Elemental 8. Move to L25.

WaterSpout Fight - Round 11 and OVER (DM Cayzle) Friday October 17th, 2014 10:41:47 PM
Your combined efforts destroy Elemental 7, and with no one actually in the water anymore, Elemental 8 is too afraid to attack anything above the surface. In a few short rounds, the question is moot in any case ... at Rounds 12 and 13, the magics that summoned these mosnters end, and the sea is clear but for our bloodied heroes!
You have defeated these enemies! Congratualtions!
Royston Scalesworth IV AC 16/13/15 - CMD 22 - F+13/R+8/W+13 Friday October 17th, 2014 10:52:57 PM

Evaris [AC 19; HP 42/64] 2d6=8 ; Friday October 17th, 2014 10:58:17 PM
Evaris pauses to make sure everybody has made it back to the ship. Then, he uses his Channel Energy ability to give everyone some much needed healing.
Everybody heals 8 damage. Please update your headers.

Zero landed on the deck of the ship and immediately roared, while his body changed back to his native form. His androsphinx roar quickly became a dwarven victory yell.
"Well fought lads. We went into overtime with that one, eh?"
Zero then gave a nod of thanks to Emrys and Evaris for their healing, before he slugged back some goodberrys.
"Got a few more healing berries here. Emrys maybe you should have a few, eh?"
Yeshua (Ken) AC 26 Truman AC 26, Joint hp pool 82/106 Saturday October 18th, 2014 10:34:53 AM
YEshua is glad once everyone gets back on the boat and is safe from the summoned elementals. He also congratulates everyone on a well fought battle, and the duo appreciate the healing. They still have several wounds that require healing, but can wait if needed for those who suffered more... "Let's get the captain and crew back up here so that our journey can continue on... Truman and I aren't fond of water and I want our feet back on dry land..."
