Brom asks a few more questions about the girl's companion, uncomprehending that she is in fact Cinnaminsen.
Edson's keen eyes and questionable training catch the CN on the girls wrist. Perhaps a marking, or guild mark. He also catches her hand movements and can do nothing but smirk. He goes for a long shot, speaking in the cant of thieves to see if she acknowledges.
Barratore stands firm in his spot, idly glancing about for something interesting, like a building on fire or some thugs attacking someone... The thoughts pick his spirits up instantly

Relax. We're staunch. You looking for pigeons right? Edson says, falling easily into the thieves' cant.
"I, uh, have to go." Cinnaminsen says as she looks nervously at Edson and then back to Peza. She blushes slightly as she puts her arms around Peza in a shy hug. "Thanks for saving me, really." As the girl leaves Barratore's wandering eyes spot two well equipped guards that seem a step or two beyond what you are used to seeing around the city approach. One is a large half elf with a scar from bridge of nose up into his hairline, the other an overweight muscled minotaur with dreads and braided beard. As they near the first calls out, Well fought battle. I liked the way you tried to push some of them back into the sewer rather than destroying them all.

Seeing the approaching pair, he raises a hand in acknowledgement. Otherwise he does say much nor does he cease his leisurely leaning upon the wall. For Barratore's coin, they were talking to Brom, he was the one that tried that move. The thought brings his head pivoting over to Brom, "Admirers, you do collect 'em brother."

No doubt they well soon have nick names for us just as the people call their groups The Watch, Hired Eyes and The Walking Law. We all want what is best for Rum, isn't that right? After the men leave you double check the security of the newly reenforced gate and return to the WLA to give Ceri a full report of all that had happened. She is seated at her usual spot reading messages from the main land, the shipping guild, and various citizens who have put in requests to the league for assistance. She makes a few quick notes of the details and hands the letter to a page for delivery to the Minister of Water and Sanitation.
Afterward Brom and Barratore decide to try a new drinking establishment. Down by the docks is a lively dive called Bloodbath and Beyond and on the far side of town is the cities nicest bar, The Virtuous Maiden, a fine establishment known for overpriced drinks and a strict dress code that bans all weapons, catering specifically to politicians. Directly in between them lies The Gilded Goblet. A fine establishment, but not so fine as to ban weapons for members of The Watch or prohibit patrons from drinking their fill (and getting drunk).
Although unremarkable from the outside, inside the red wood floors shine and a small band plays in the back, quiet enough that you can talk over them and loud enough that others cannot easily overhear. Cragg, a thin and muscular half orc half elf with dark olive skin, pointed ears and two prominent lower teeth greets you. The drinks are similar to those of The Squid's Ink with several additional fine wines and spirit and the food is less greasy and more heavily seasoned. What'll it be gents?

"Dead don't stir up much trouble," Barratore responds to Zachamiah's comment of peacekeeping. Those two leave and Barratore looks to Brom, 'The Watch', fancy talk to desk mounter if you ask me. Anything dangerous happens they'll come yelling our direction if we get into this." he wants to say more, but holds his tongue until he can get himself to a good bar and get some drink into him.
Barratore wants to avoid The Virtuous Maiden, and with Brom's vote for somewhere a bit higher up, The Gilded Goblet it is. The minotaur finds a good large seat adn setles in for a good time. Edson's buying the first and he's got the second.

Gerox also decides to let the fighters do their drinking alone and stays at the WLA for some training and rest. He also decides to take a hot bath since the sewer stink seems to be in his clothes. He hears about the new fancy inn with the upper crust clientele and decides to take a visit.
He will do some shopping first to help out his wardrobe wandering the clothing district (if there is one) and makes some purchases of the more stylish items current with the style of the day. He will get some nice shoes and a hat as well

Brom doesn't feel the need to add to Barratore's statement. He only gives Zachamiah a good glare as the two leave.
Brom is in agreement with Barratore as far as drinking establishments for the evening. "I got the one after that." He says indicating he has the third round of drinks. When drinks are brought, Brom orders some food. "Bring us two large mutton roast with roasted vegetables, some bread, and some cheese." He says to the waitress.
"So what ya think this trainin' the Watch is gonna be all about?" He says having a drink.

The night goes fast with Edson, Brom and Barratore each buying a round of drinks at the pub, while Peza and Gerox train at the WLA. Excitement, curiosity and dread run through your minds as you contemplate your up coming meeting with the Elite Guard, but eventually sleep finds you.
Morning comes all to soon, waking you from a deep sleep earned by a night of heavy drinking or hard work brushing up on some valued skill. Fortunately the savory smell of frying sausage and fresh baked biscuits is enough to coax you up for breakfast. The meal is quick and delicious.
After eating your fill you finish up any last minute preparations and make your way up the road to the Steel Bank, which looks just as you would expect a bank to look. A single guard meets you outside. You must be the the League Adventurers. The others are already inside. Please follow me, lunch should be ready soon.

"Training The Watch, please. It's going to be dumb, that's what it is going to be like. They are going to have chips on their shoulders, not want us around and we are going to get in a fight. Probably a bunch of them" Barratore puts away round 7 and orders up another for the group. "We're supposed to be the League of Ad-ven-ture-ers." Barratore snorts loudly and shakes his head. "Not the League of teachers, or trainers or city guard." Barratore leans back, "Not turning me into a centaur, They got another thing coming if they think that."
Barratore wakes without much problem. Benefits of a powerful constitution and youth. Breakfast is always a treat, well any meal is he supposed as he pulled over a second plate. Barratore puts on his Full plate armor and stows his banded mail and extra sword with the rest of his things.
As they get to the meeting, Barratore just takes a deep breath and tries to convince himself that he is not about endure hours of pure torturous hell.

Barratore speaks his mind. "We're supposed to be the League of Ad-ven-ture-ers, not the League of teachers. Barratore takes a deep breath and tries to convince himself that he is not about endure hours of pure torturous hell.
The guard escorts you through a large prison kitchen, which is currently empty, to the dining hall. As you walk you note how the jailhouse is a bank that has just recently been converted to serve as a jailhouse. The dining hall itself is sparsely furnished, but the tables have been set with cloth table cloths, silver ware and a variety of weapons. It appears The Elite Guard have chosen to lay their weapons on the table in front of them, though you are unsure if it is a sign of equality and respect or if they are simply showing off their steel.
As you look around you recognize Delsaran and Zackamiah sitting on the left side of a table in the front of the room along with someone who is clearly a politician seated in the center. The guard sits you to their right and food is served. It is passable. As you eat the guard introduces to the council members, Hellsha, a female dwarf with a light fine-haired blonde beard and high soprano voice. Sense motive 16 Highlight to display spoiler: {You find it odd that a guard you don't know if introducing you to the council woman and his words appear scripted, as if he was instructed to make the introduction.}
As soon as she is introduced she thanks the guard. Thank you all so much for coming. The city if Rum appreciates your support. If you will excuse me, it is time to start the meeting. We can talk more afterwords.
As you all know, a "possibly temporary" city guard, you, has been formed by the City Council. They are to solve a few of Rums small problems. These problems include, but are not limited too: 1)Not all neighborhoods have not hired protection groups. This elite guard is to help neighborhoods find trustworthy mercenaries to hire. 2) Some of the Protection Groups have turned out to be criminals looking to form a mafia type setup. These are to be weeded out and arrested. The Council wants an example to be made of them. 3) The city has needed a jail to hold criminals before they go before Judge Logano. The Elite Guard will manage this to prevent protection groups from dispensing their own justice. 4) At the moment, the neighborhood mercenaries are not capable of handling the larger crimes. So the Elite Guard will be available to jump in and help when this happens.
Hellsha then introduces the League Adventurer's, a group whose name has become synonymous with justice and upholding the law. They have proven their courage in battle and their dedication to the well being of Rum when the Fixers were under attack. They have been here since the cities beginning.
The purpose of this his meeting is to help set in place the operating procedures for the Elite Guard, and we are looking for guidance in how to carry out their tasks. I am pleased to announce that the League Adventurer's have graciously agreed to help us in this manner. Now if you would please give them your full attention, I am sure we can learn a great deal from their vast experiences. Please give them all a warm welcome.
There is small bit of applause, but most men continue eating. Hellsha then turns towards the group and waits for you each to speak, giving your opinions and recommendations.

Gerox turns and looks at the guard strangely for a second and then turns his attention back to the politician listening to his words but knowing a stage being set when he sees it.
When they are introduced, he will look at the others and then step up and say, "Hello, my name Gerox Shale and I am proud to be a member of the WLA and a friend and comrade to these fine people behind me. You might wonder why we are successful? Is it because we are the best toughest fighters? Is it because our archers could hit the eye of a flying wasp? Our spellcasters the smartest? Our scouts the most silent? These are all important skills and to some extent they are true but this isn't why we are the most successful...."
Gerox takes a dramatic pause and then continues, "We are successful for two reasons and two reasons only. Teamwork and Trust. Whether we are working a case, figuring out a maze, or fighting a lich, the group works together. We know each others skills and know how to apply them best to any situation. This is important but with out the second component it is nothing.
Most importantly, we trust each other. If I get myself into a situation I can't handle, I know my comrades will move heaven and earth to help me. I would do the same for them. They are my friends and my family. When we are in a fight, I work best for the team. It is much more fun burning my enemies to a cinder but I know we work better if I use my spells to help my comrades.
This will apply to you and your groups as well. I am frankly better at talking in front of a crowd than my two big burly friends here." Gerox points to Brom and Barratore. "It falls to me to speak to you. They are much better at pinning a suspect to the ground and making pee run down their legs when the try to lie to us. This is another very useful skill. If you want to have success, you must determine the individuals best skills and trust them to use them. Otherwise, you will be eaten alive."
Gerox steps back and motions to Peza, "While I am the mouth of the group, Peza is our leader. Listen to her and pay attention. She has kept us alive through so crazy times."

Barratore listens to the dwarf, well mostly he listens to the dwarf. He had the basic idea of what she was saying and like many many times before, the details got sort of lost in the mix. He snaps back in on her speech, though when she asks each of them to say something. Thank Imod for the that gnome. Knowing he might still have to say something other than a grunt of agreement, He tries his best to focus on what Gerox is saying and fully intends to repeat it as his own part. As each of you speaks Hellsha stares intently, nodding thoughtfully and somehow finding a way to restate everything you said and including the phrase "we will" despite it being unlikely that she will have any active role in the organization. Gerox only Highlight to display spoiler: {sorting through the woman's double speak, you realize that everything she says is redirection to use any future success of the Elite Guard to further her power base in politics within the city. She likely doesn't care which direction it goes. If the Elite Guard are caring and helpful, she will claim the credit. If they get too rough, she will likely end the organization and set herself up as the savior of the town's freedom.}
After you all have spoken your piece and Hellsha repeats everything you notice a mix of responses from the Elite Guard. Delsarian smiles. That is very insightful. We will be sure to implement that. You are very wise council woman. The way he is fawning over her you are unsure if he is brown nosing to ensure a favorable rank within the guard or or if he might might have a thing for her.
Zachamiah, on the other hand, is not as captivated by the talks. Work hard. Work together. Build a reputation. How do we do that? It seems to me that making an example of those that cross us is the best way to make a strong reputation. Cross us we crush you. As he says this there is a murmur of agreement from many other guards men. It seems the majority of the guards are more interest in combat and tactics than politics.

Gerox frown at Hellsha, but keeps his thoughts to himself at the moment. He looks over at Zachamiah and say, "You have to be strong and firm but fair. I agree, people have to be a little afraid of your combat prowess. That helps keep you safe. They have to know you will protect your own and each other or they will just pick you off when you are alone or vulnerable. No one likes getting their throat cut when they are sleeping right?
If someone thinks they are going to come to you with a problem and your just going to kick the crap out of that problem, they will hesitate to come to you. Some things need to be stomped but most need a more gentle touch. It is a knife's edge you have to walk.
You also need to be careful of those who are going to try and buy you. It could be the housewife baking you a pie, or the merchant buying you an ale or the thief who lines your pocket with sliver. Once you re bought, you are bought and word will spread. When that happens, we come back and stomp you. (intimidate 18) While I personally can't stomp you, I can always turn you into a toad."

Barratore is a bit put off by Zachamiah as well, "It's more than making an example out of those who cross you." Barratore starts. "That's how assassins and honorless mercenaries do it and that is not the reputation the elite guard of Rum needs. If that begins, the elite guard will be dismantled. Through Honor, courage and brotherhood is how you will earn the correct reputation."
"Combat and tactics come from training and sweat. First, determine individual capabilities, second form comprehensive teams and lastly start sweating through drills. If you are not eating or sleeping, you should be sweating."
Barratore leaves it at that, the last piece of advise and training he got from his uncle.

This is ridiculous!!! Zachamiah shouts as Peza gets ready to leave. Trust each other and build a reputation, that is their big advice. Nothing on what sort of assistance to we should be offering, delivering people to be tried or on sharing of information on information on criminal groups. What about deadly force? If someone has a hostage do we stop the guy or let him walk. Should we beat the information out of someone if it could save lives or condemn the innocent to death, or does that make us "bullies"? All they did was try to say how much better they could do things.
You are out of line. Apologize to them. Delsarian orders.
No! All you do is smile and speak nice to the council and their pets. Nothing they said was useful. They didn't help us come up with any operating procedures. They just wasted our time.
Delsarian stands up and points towards the door. Walk away. You disobeyed orders and disrespected our guests. That is exactly the reputation we are trying to avoid. We will not allow such behavior in The Guard.
Zachamiah stands up, nostrils flaring, and flips the table in front of him. Delsarian does not so much as blink. His eyes turn cold and he stares down the minotaur. It might have only been a few seconds, but time seems to stand still till the minotaur finally spits and walks out the door. I am sorry about that. Truly, we do want your help in developing simple procedures and rules on conduct. Some people have an easier time keeping to a code than using their own judgment.
The room is now silent as everyone waits to see what you will do. Help shape the city of Rum and develop policies for the Elite Guard or leave.

Brom stands right up with the minotaur his fist clenched, face red, veins pulsing, and ready to rumble. "I ain't no one's pet!" He says looking at Hellsha then back to the minotaur. "Not the counsel, the League, no one!" He shouts. "What do you want? Ta write yur handbook for ya? Hold yur hand while ya figure things out? Ain't happenin'." His eyes never leave the minotaur. He would be more than happy to beat everyone to a bloody pulp and anyone with a pair of eyes can see it. For many moments, Brom debates fighting, but decides not, for the moment. Baaratore is standing with Brom when Zachamiah goes off. He does not offer any further explanation and Brom had already shouted out his immediate thoughts on the matter. He had no intention of sitting down and writing our the rule book for the elite guard of Rum to follow. He knew that scope of work was well beyond his skills and abilities. Zachamiah was partially right, in Barratore's eyes. This was a big waste of time as none of them, especially himself and Brom, would play wet nurse to the council or the newly forming elite guard. However, Barratore did not think that the WLA was those responsible for that waste of time.
Barratore is not at all surprised that Zachamiah did not apologize. His opinion of the other minotaur would have decreased rapidly if he had. But now that he was thinking about it, Barratore had a question, "What orders did he just disobey?"

We are the folks you call when things get to ugly for normal procedures. Our morals and intentions are good. We will protect the innocent but we know no more of how to police a city than anyone else in this room."
He paces up and looks at Delsarian and says, "What you are trying to do is more noble than what we do. We kick the bad guys butt and move on. You are trying to establish a long term organization that will protect and help this city long after we are gone. Keep searching for answers and in the meantime, know that if things get ugly, you can call on us to back you up."

With the meeting being over, Barratore leaves and goes looking for Brom. His first stop is the nearest tavern. Finding him, he buys a pair of drinks, "That went quite well I think". He hands Brom an ale. "I don't get the point in asking us to have been there still. What I want to know is who's bright idea that all was. Think we should go track down Zachamiah? He'll give direct answers at least."
Barratore finishes off the ale and orders a stout. Light to dark, that's how you drink 'em. "Did the others sort of seem moody to you?"

As he followed, "What are they upset about and if you tell me to wait and see for myself I may have to brain you one."

A short while later you arrive at Rogral's Tenement Building. Quickly you move up the stairs to the third floor (the location of Hogral's Watch) and are greeted by several crying families that appear to be failing miserably at consoling each other about something.
Moments later you are in Hogral's office. He looks exhausted, frustrated and a wee bit overwhelmed. Zachamiah is there as well, and he's in a particularly sour mood.
"Utter incompetence" Zachamiah said, the accusation obviously directed at Hogral. "We have information that the girl Cinnaminsen is part of Cabal Nocturn, who is wanted in three different neighbourhoods for stealing, vandalism and attempted murder. If she isn't turned over to us with her friend in 48 hours I will strip you of your license and have you arrested for negligence. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?"
"This city is a huge CESSPOOL OF CRIME, and the Elite Guard is going to whip it into shape or else. We will start by making an example of these two. That will send a message to every criminal in this city. Break the law and you'll swing."

Gerox moves toward the desk and leans his hands on to it, his short stature keeping him from looming. "Making examples is a good thing but if you hang the wrong person or for a lesser charge, then you will lose your own credibility. The people will only look at you with distrust and will not work with you."

Barratore though is far more interested in Zachamiah being all over Hogral, "You ain't a magistrate and don't get to sentence nobody! You want specifics on what you can and cannot do, that is one of them. The guard, no matter what they want to call themselves arrest and detain. They don't sentence! Barratore steps right into Zachamiah as he speaks, standing in the mans space and staring him eye to eye.
Pointing to Hogral and bringing his voice to a slightly less aggitated tone, Barratore adds, "You arrest people for not being good at their job and Rum is going to need alot more and bigger prisons."

The barbarian merely places a hand on the handle of his BAS and glares at Zachamiah with death in his eyes.

Barratore takes a small step back and looks down towards Peza, what she was saying didn't make him feel warm and fuzzy either. Zachamiah was part of the newly forming elite guard, didn't that put all of this in his jurisdiction? Wasn't that the point? Peza seemed to not think so and basically said the WLA was in charge. That was not what he signed up for. Last thing Barratore wanted was to be in charge.

Gerox finds himself in the amusing position of agreeing with Barratore. It doesn't happen often and it makes him feel a bit uncomfortable. He steps forward and says, "Why don't we all just calm down a bit. Everyone is a bit right here. We are the WLA and we have been ordered by our superiors to help advise these folks into setting up the beginnings of an efficient guard unit to help the citizens of Rum.
Zachariah has been ordered to set up and run this same guard unit. We haven't been hired by the city to run the guard or stand in its way but to help and advise it. Unfortunately this might not be our strength. We are adventurers and people of action, not administrators and planners. That doesn't mean we don't do our best. I think we might want to do some investigation here. Lets dig into this mystery and find out if this group..... this Cabal Nocturn is really the beginnings of a thieves guild, a group plotting against the rightful government or maybe something else. Then we can decide if they should be opposed or supported as our conscience decides."

Brom probably would have helped out if he didn't complete dislike the minotaur so much, but now, he didn't care and he wasn't helping him. He turns and heads out of the Watch headquarters.

Barratore answers Zachamiah, "Not looking for coin, I'm no sell sword." Barratore looks down at Peza, "I'll be a the compound, Brom is probably down by the docks." Just before he exits he pats Hogral on the shoulder, "Good luck."
Barratore heads back to the compound a little annoyed, but not so much. There was a bunch of conflicting information floating about in his head. The girl was part of some underground guild that was a threat to the city. Edson apparently knew she was at least a guild member and we let her go merrily on her way after she was right there where the sewer grate was destroyed. Probably should have followed her at the very least. Z gets practically thrown out of the council and Elite guard meeting and then ends up here threatening Hogral and claiming he knows wwhere the girl and or group in general is. Throwing out how they are a known threat to all and here we were just hearing about it and from him. Barratore spits to the ground, thinking about it soured his mood and he did not like being in a sour mood and so he stops thinking about it.

Barratore was wrong on Brom's location. He wasn't feeling particularly helpful and that meant working at the docks as well. Brom was getting bored in Rum. Other than yelling at Z, his adrenaline never got going in recent weeks. To Brom his was like retirement, and the barbarian was not good with that. Brom wandered and found himself at the WLA compound. He was trying to think of something that would get the lead back in his pencil and get him excited. He was considering a trip north.

Peza adds " i would like your help in contact and organizing the various local watch groups .. i would like to meet as many as i can ... to help organize and support them .... i don't think we will get a good support from the elite guard ... they're acting more like this is a powergrab .. only doing things to benefit themselves ,,, i on the other hand want to see all the local groups prosper and help their various local neighborhoods ... i will support as many groups as i can with training / equipment / and of course our vocal support .... pass the word if you would "

Gerox listens and leaves with the others and sidles up to Peza. "You need to get things in hand and decide which direction we are going. Are we going to go after this guild? Is it best for us to do this? I have always heard pissing off the thieves guild could be bad for your health. Having my throat slit in the middle of the night doesn't sound appealing to me. Maybe you should have a conversation with the Captain on what we should do. What the WLA wants us to do and how they are getting paid. Contrary to Barratore's thoughts, we are sell swords. We are just sell swords with a conscience."

"She had it on her wrist... what does that tell you" Zachamiah responded to Edson. "Well, if that's not enough to convince you please continue to investigate. You'll learn the truth for yourself. She is a member of a thieves guild that is like a plague on our city."

"Don't do it for coin then" Zachimiah responded to Barratore before he left. "Do it for the people of this city. They are the true victims of this guild."

For the next few minutes Zachimiah continued to try to convince you. In the end, he just suggested that you look into it for yourselves. "In the end, it's up to you. But what harm can it do to look into it? Do it for coin, or for the people of this city, or whatever reason you think best."
And then he left.

Afterwards Horgral added his own two cents. "Listen, Zachimiah was way out of line, but he's right that we should look into it. I've got a bunch of families outside my office that deserve to know what's going on. If we stand back and let Zachimiah handle the investigation... well... who knows how this will turn out?"

Barratore is not a fan of thieves guilds, and his answer to Peza and Edson on the matter is quite straight forward. "There is no reason to tolerate a guild such as that. They serve no purpose other than their own. We find them, we put them out of business. You two," looking at Peza and Edson, "Need to put this on top of your list. I have every intention of pissing off and pissing on the thieves guild. They have no place here and I see to make it clear to them." Barratore, feeling his point of view on the matter is clear continues to the WLA compound
Barratore puts in a good work out, going through his weapons. First, is always his sword, followed by work with his bow, then unarmed strikes and grapple holds and lastly his natural weapons. Brom enters the area and Barratore throws a challenge his direction. "Just finished my circuit so I should be tired enough to not kick your butt to quickly. If you prefer, I'll dual you left handed." Barratore gives him a grin, at least the afternoon would not be a total waste.
During the sparring match, Barratore brings up the thieves guild and his opinion and intention that it needs to be crushed

Brom takes Barratore up on his suggestion to spar. "Ha, ya couldn't beat me even if I was stone drunk."
His minotaur friend tries to convince the barbarian that their aid is needed. Brom is not convinced. "What about after that." He says. "Another gang'll takes its place. Is that our job to take that one out? What 'bout the one after that, and after that one? We're the Woldian League of Adventurers not Woldian League of Local Watch. If it was a group of assassin, then the watch'll need our help. That's more than the watch could handle, but pick-pockets and burglars. Seems like overkill, or somethin' more. Make the watches look bad? Bring the League under the Council's heel? It all smells bad, an' I don't want any part of it."

I wish I could give you a solid number, but the rewards vary depending on the result. Bring the girl in and you get so much. Bring down the guild and you get a whole lot more. Anyhow, I can tell you this much... It will be worth your while, and you would be really helping a lot of people."

"What Zachamiah failed to mention is the family outside my office is The Senir family. You may know them. They are well off and own an art studio in this district. Anyhow, they are also Cinnaminsen's parents. Anyhow, they claim that she ran away from home because of a fight about a boy that her parents did not approve of. Not longer after, there son... His name is Horton... also ran away. He left a note. Here it is."

Barratore steps in on Brom, but the man shrugs off his first grapple, "By my count, they all just did ask for our help and I really don't care about making any of them look bad." Barratore shifts back and throws a small jab to keep the barbarian honest, "If it's a bunch of pick pockets, Edson will smell it out and then we look for other fun. If not, like connected to the missing kids and such, we put them down hard. Someone and possibly this guild is still the ones that broke that grate and those fire spell things out"
Barratore also lets Brom know he he no intention of being under the council's heel, but he signed on with the WLA to not only find adventure and fame, but to help those who can't help themselves and to him, this might be one of those times

Edson had to laugh at Gerox's comment. Growing upnin the guild, he knew it all too well. He was a bit conflicted. One part of him knew the guild was bad like Barratore said, but the other part of him knew there were probably members who where like him and not evil.
"Listen, no one knows the inside of a guild like me. Our best bet is for Peza and myself, perhaps even Gerox getting into their good graces. Get us inside, amd see how extensive it runs. "

"That sounds like a plan" Hogral agreed. "Well, if it helps, I've heard that Cabal Nocturn tend to dress very dark. They color their hair and use lots of tattoos and piercings. They tend to wear black leather, sometimes dark purple."
"The location of their HQ is still unconfirmed, but our best leads place it in the underground, quite likely not very far from here. If you want to find them, that might be the place to look."
"Or you could start with the girl. She's missing but she did like to hang out at the Flying Pariah Tavern. You might learn more about her there."

Barratore rinses off after sparring with Brom and decides an afternoon lying in a hammock in the sun sounds like a good time. While Edson and Peza investigate , he lies dow. "You'll know right where to find me friends."
There was something deeply relaxing and life affirming to Barratore about falling asleep in the sunshine with a good ale nearby. He drifts off and soon a dream of open oceans and crashing waves fill his mind with memories of the Sea Sprite and the voyage to Rum

Edson and Brom decide to visit the Flying Pariah. Unlike many taverns, this one has hardly any wood. The building is stone, the floors tile, and the chairs steel. There is something cold and dark about it, but it is clean. Everything seems to be black, or purple or blue. There isn't anything the least bit earthy about the place.
Nothing seems amiss in the place. No sign of the girl, but there are other people in the tavern. Some are probably close to her in age.

Gerox uses his message spell and points at both Brom and Edson. "I just heard something about Cinnaminsen from those two teenagers. Going to check it out. Watch my back"
Gerox will then duck around the corner, cast an invisibility spell and move closer to the two talking about Cinnaminsen to hear what they are talking about without disturbing them.

Brom perks up at Gerox's message. "You should let me make'em soil their pants. That would make this more fun." He returns. "I bet a bunch of these people have some connection to the guild." Continuing to speak using the spell.
He calls over the waitress and orders some more drink and some finger food. He continues to watch the tavern. He looks over to Edson. "Ya want somethin'?"

Baratore, feeling refreshed, decides to head into the Captains office. The mess with the council and the elite guard was annoying him once again. Knocking and entering, Barratore moves to the front of Captain Circe's desk. "The meeting with the council and the elite guard went horrible..." he begins. From there he relates the meeting as he remembers. The WLA was asked for advise and the group provided some one at a time. What makes for good team work, that practice and knowing your own and the teams skills was crucial, that the elite guard cannot simply go around stomping on everyone they deem trouble. Barratore then relates Zachamiah's ejection and how he broke some orders. A question never answered when Barratore asked about it. The meeting adjourned and within the hour the group was in a shouting match with the minotaur and there is a miscommunication at best on our role here in the city. That gap is widening.
Barratore then continues on his position with the WLA. Here to clear the way for Rum to prosper and here for adventure. Barratore makes it clear he is not here to patrol the city streets, be at the councils beck and call and certainly not to be made into some sort of liason among the various factions growing in the city.
The Elite guard is under the impression we live in a crime ridden cesspool and that a reckoning is fast approaching.

Broken from his serious tone, he laughs to Brom. " Are you kidding? My nerves are going. Order me something, but you'll probably end up eating it."

The bartender looks at Edson with confusion. "Sorry mate, I only sling drinks." His response seems genuine.
Gerox finds a spot to cast invisibility and manages to sneak up closer. With the noises inside the tavern he has little difficulty. The two young men continue their conversation.
"But I kinda miss having her around" the first one said.
"That's cause you fancy her" the second one responded.
"I do not. I just like her company."
"Yeah, right. Men don't like women's company unless they fancy them."
The two go back and forth, jibing at each other, until they finish their drink. They stand up to pay their tab, apparently ready to leave.
...
Captain Circe listens to Barratore's account of the situation.
"That's a frustrating situation, to be sure. You are an adventurer, not a glorified city guard. Let me see what I can do. Give me a few days. I'll see what I can do."
