Gerox follows the two young men out of the tavern and into the streets. Edson and Brom discuss weather they should follow also.
The two men stumble as they walk, obviously slightly drunk. Based on their dress and manner Gerox guesses that they are commoners. Very common commoners. The pair continue on their way stumbling and talking about nothing overly important.

Gerox will follow along discreetly. He will activate the invisibility spell one more time to follow along. (That gives him 16 minutes of coverage I think) He will close the gap and listen every once in a while to see if the boys are talking about anything interesting and will note where they are going. If the journey takes more than that, he will let the invisibility fade and just try to follow normally.

Meanwhile back at the tavern Edson noticed that one man seemed to be studying him.the man was dressed in dark studded leather. At his table sat two large men. Both wore armor.
Meanwhile Brom sensed that one of the barmaids seemed to be looking at him. He sensed she liked him. Would he trust his intuition?

DM Jeff- The Flying Pariah Wednesday November 5th, 2014 12:46:57 AM
Outside the bar...
Gerox continued his investigation by looking in the window. The small first floor apartment where they lived was very modest. It appeared to have only one room, and was furnished with a table, two chairs, and two straw mattresses. That seemed to be the extent of their belongings.
Barratore was bored, so he decided to go and look for his friends. Where had they gone again? The Flying Somethingerother?
Some men relaxed with drink, food or a good woman. Others compiled lists, pondered over puzzles, and contemplated the political realities of Rum. Peza was the later sort of person. He was certain that something was going on.
Inside the bar...
Edson warned the others about the three dark men that had taken notice of him.
Brom laid a kiss on the barmaid, who tasted like salted mutton. She quickly pulled away and laid a slap on him. Perhaps he had misread her intentions? (That's for your 1 sense motive check... Call it a fumble!)
The slap got everyone's attention. Everyone except the dark man and his two companions who seemed to use the distraction to rise, slide across the room, and stand confidently only a few few from your table.
"I couldn't help but overhear your conversation with the bartender" the dark man said. "Curious. What's Edson Kazil doing flapping his gums about nightcrawlers in a place like this? Come to think of it, what's he and his sidekick friend doing here at all? Doesn't he know he isn't welcome here?"
The room went silent. The bartender's face went white as he slumped behind the bar. Several nearby patrons started making for the exit.

Edson's mind races a million miles an hour, but that is normal for the skinny elf. That was normal for the elf's brain, and didn't hinder him in the least. His eyes scan their wrists, and clothing for any marks of the guild.
While his eyes scan, his mouth opens knowing he has to speak before Brom smashes one of the men in the face "Gentleman, saw you pondering your next scheme in that corner and wondered when you would come over and show your cards. Show your cards, do you know that line gentleman? Gentleman? Can I use that word, or should I use the more appropriate title, boot scum. So boot scum, you ask why me and my friend are here since we aren't allowed. Truth be told, there is no place in this fine city where we are not allowed, and there is no man or woman who will prevent us from going where we please because there is no one tough enough to stop my friend Brom. Now gentlemen, do me a favor and tell your guild friends, if they would like to run a good guild they should have hired me and not sent some first grade initiates to make their bones, and threaten me. The slap wasn't entirely surprising. It wasn't the first time Brom misread a woman and it wouldn't be the last. "If you change yur mind..." He says to the barmaid with a smile.

Edson doesn't back down, and even managed to lay on a little intimidation. But his tone was unconvincing.
Brom laid the intimidation on thicker... much thicker. Suddenly the room felt tighter, the air heavier. The henchmen at the dark man's side took a step back. A small step, but a retreat nonetheless.
Gerox finished his business and made his way back towards the tavern. Would he miss out on all the excitement?
Barratore visited Peza and learned where the others had gone. Would he go to look for them? Would Peza join him?
...
The dark man didn't flinch. Instead he grabbed a bottle off a nearby table and poured himself a drink, all the while keeping his eyes locked on Brom.
Meanwhile Edson studied the man and tried to discern all that he could. He was clearly slightly drunk, but thats not what gave this man his confidence. There was something dangerous about him. Dangerous and proud.
"I don't make enemies" the man said to Brom. "I unmake them. Slap them on a platter and serve them up for Gargul to choke on."

Brom wouldn't let a little unnerving stop him. His attack would have been enough to land a blow on most men. His opponent was not most men.
Gerox cleared out of Barratore's way and began casting. A ray exploded and struck the dark man, which caused him to slump slightly. (Save successful, half damage).
Barratore charged, knocking over barstool over barstool before his sword tore into the nearest opponent.
Edson slid forward another 5', flanking the dark man. This advantageous position compensated for his shaken morale. Two of his attacks landed true. ...
The dark man growled and spun around with an attack that matched Edson in speed. The first attack caught Edson in the leg, almost causing him to lose mobility (OOC: shatter defenses vs. uncanny dodge. You are not flat footed). His next two attacks also landed. (19 damage to Edson. ).
Barratore's attack had done serious damage to one of the attackers (d1), but he kept his feet, stepped forward 5' and attacked. Both of his attacks could not penetrate Barratore's armor.
The remaining opponent (d2) focused his attacks on Brom. His first swing was nearly perfect, slipping between Brom's armor. However, as he stepped forward with his second swing he slipped on the wet floor... Complements of Edson kicking over the table. He fell flat onto his back (damage 13 to Brom. On second attack D2 fumbled and fell prone).

Brom ignores the secondary attacker and continues to focus on the dark man. Brom moves right to flank his opponent (F7). He had turn his attention to Edson momentarily, and Brom had hoped to change that. The barbarian unleashes a barrage of swing connecting with all. A body shot to his left-side kidney, then another to the stomach. Both followed by third shot striking the ribs just above his first punch.

Barratore parries the man's strikes, turning his much larger blade over and sweeping out it out wide to the left. Barratore then shifts to the right and presses forward, (5' Step D/E-4/5), turning his opponent with him. Barratore's blade flashes back through the man's defenses and opens another garish wound. Brom unleashed some pain in the form of three wicked punches. The sheer ferocity overwelmed the dark man's grace and nearly crumpled him to the ground, but somehow he kept his feet.
Barratore parried and countered with three vicious attacks. Two landed solidly. The wounds were considerable, but not yet lethal.
Edson lost consciousness. Would his friends get to him in time?

"How many fights you been in gnome? There's always weapons used in a bar fight. Sword, knife, or broken bottle someone always usin' something." He says before walking over to Gerox. He puts a finger in Gerox's chest. "But I'll tell ya this once, you hit me with one of yur spells an' I'll rip yur arms off."
He takes a potion and drinks it (CSW - 18 hp).

Gerox calls Brom an idiot, and casts a spell. Multitasking.
Peza continues to eat cookies.
...
Gerox detected a moderate magical auras coming from his sword, armor, shield and cloak. He also sensed it coming from 4 vials of liquid.
Not a bad haul for a bar fight, but would it be taken or left behind? A decision would need to be made soon.
And what of this Ooze Alley? It was an odd place for El Sileon to meet these men. What had he been up to?

Gerox listens to Edson and nods to Barratore, "Edson is right. I am not leaving the loot or treasure behind. Half of our gear is taken from fallen foes. This is no different. They picked the wrong folks to mess with. This one paid the price. This wasn't a bar fight. This was an assassination attempt. I am not leaving the equipment behind for them to use against us again. If you don't want any, that is up to you, but Edson is right. You don't have the right to tell us not too."

Eventually a decision is made on the fallen sellsword's equipment and you decide to leave the Flying Pariah. You walk the few blocks over to ooze alley. It takes less than two minutes.
Ooze alley is a positioned in between a hodgepodge of stone buildings. There are no windows or doors along the alley on account of the smell, which is created by the sewage that flows from the buildings and into a small stream that runs along the side of the alley.
The alley is a dead end... A bad omen.

"This is very different from killing vampires and monsters in the wild. When do assassins walk up to you and say hi? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard used as justification. This man was hired by someone we know little about and we know even less about the man himself. This was not in the deep wilds, this was a tavern fight that went out of control and he ended up dead. You are not going to strip his corpse and loot his body like common honorless street scum-like parasite feasting off of others. Killing him does not give us claim on his property. Only reason we are not having this conversation inside a prison cell is our reputation and I am not going to let you defecate all over that reputation by continuing your course of action."
Barratore folds his arms, "Standing up for what is honorable and decent is not bullying. It is simply doing what is right. His gear used against us? Good joke, 3 of them could barely take Brom and the man didn't even draw. "
Barratore is holding his ground, "You want Peza to cast a vote, feel free to get her. Not changing my position on this. You are not stripping him."

Gerox looks at Barratore and says, "Your wrong. This guy was a mercenary for sure and he took pay to fight against us. No one said he was smart. He equipment is useless to him now. It is a spoil of war. If we don't take it then it will end up being scooped up by others and sold. That is money that can go to healing potions and better equipment for each of us. It makes us more efficient in standing up to evil and doing our sworn duty.
This wasn't a bar fight. Normal people don't get into bar fights. Only big goofballs with something to prove do. This guy wasn't fighting "in an honorable bar fight" He was trying to kill Brom and Edson. Next time I will just let him. It will be more honorable."

Brom hears the gnome's argument, but Barratore was spot on. Their reputation had saved Edson and Gerox from the stockade and that was the reason Brom didn't draw - weapon fights in cities are frown upon. If Brom had draw, there was no dount in the barbarian's mind, he could have killed all three, but he would have sullied the League's reputation, the group's reputation, and Rum's citizens' faith in law. This is universal. Brom had seen this many times growing up.

As Edson checks the entrance for traps Gerox begins scanning the alley for trouble. As his eyes move along the walls he spots a dark rope pressed into the cracks of a corner that is knotted and can be used to obtain access to the rooptops.
Edson examines the entrance carefully. Although he notices no traps right away, he does detect that the area around the entrance has been been carefully brushed clear of tracks. One by one he examines the bricks, stopping at one about 10ft from the door...curious, there is not mortar around that brick.
At most of your attention so focused that you don't feel the eyes upon you until the sound of a foot accidentally kicking a a beer bottle draws your attention....
You turn around just in time to see a mangy dog running away from the rolling bottle. Although three of the league adventurer's had seen the mutt wandering, his lack of a threat raised no alarms. Perhaps not quite the deadly enemy some were expecting, he did serve as furry reminder that you should keep your guard up at all times.

Taking it quickly he rejoins the group. Only Brom remains alert, but nothing around him moves. Already Barratore is readying his weapons and the League Adventurer's are falling in line. A decision to try to keep as many alive as possible, especially the leaders. Peza shoos the dog away and signals Edson to open the entrance.
Unsurprisingly, the entrance is locked. However it only takes a second for Edson to try the key. The well oiled lock turns silently and the door slides open a few inches under its own weight. In the dim light filtering in through the crack you can just make out some mattresses on the floor along with a variety of dry footstuffs. On the far side of the room if a thick metal door.
