The battle has been short but the water is tiring Coer. For someone who relies on their physical prowess he is less than agile in this setting.
As his fists have failed he now pumps his legs instead, His hooves crushing the barnacles that cover the behemoth as he stomps down, feeling the shell give at least twice.

Despite his general lack of fear in any situation, even he knows when a beast is just more than he can handle. His blows are getting a bit desperate now as he stubbornly beats away at the claw that continues to crush him. Unfortunately, none of them seem to get through. (unless somehow i'm flanking this crazy claw? haha)
Magana tastes the crab's blood in the water and it tastes delicious. It spurs her to another frenzied attack on the crabs underbelly.

Jozhur gets a brilliant strike in and slashes a huge chunk of the shell off.
Magana twice pokes the crab with here trident.

The Crab looks weak, real weak. It closes its claws on the two men, but is too weak to put any pressure behind it. The claws open, and release the men as the crab disengages, and begins to back away. Nothing on its face shows anything other then an animalistic intelligence.

With the crab backing away Coer swims to the surface and towards the Lionfish. Without the rider the crab is merely trying to survive, and knows there in no meal to be found here.

Realizing the giant crustacean is fleeing from the fight, Jozhur surfaces to get some fresh air in his lungs, then pulls himself back onto the Lionfish.
The enraged Magana will not allow an enemy (or dinner) to escape if at all possible.

Snafu's elementals continue to attack the crab, as does Magana, and Zeoll's fey friends. Not much is needed to kill the crab, as it was hovering on deaths door already. The final blow falls, and the crab's claws go limp and fall to the soft ocean floor.
Coerator, Jozhur, and Yel'kno swim up to the surface, and take in a nice fresh breath of air. The members of the ships crew are on the railings looking over.... "everyone alright down there.....?"
Zeoll manages to give some healing to Terser.
Aexana tries to cast Talk to Animals, but it isn't quick enough as the group destroys the crab. (Save the spell)

He's a bit winded to try swimming up and climbing back onto the ship, so he just walks his way back to shore, wringing the salt water out of his beard when he gets back on dry land.
Does anyone know if these things travel in groups? Can't imagine there would be enough food for several in one area. Let's just hope the spawn only managed to snare one of these things.

If we are to have any chance of preventing Billoopl's rise, we must prevent him from regaining such powerful weapons, even if they are living creatures. It won't go to waste - just consider it as fishing up dinner for the crew.

Magana tries to drag the crab to shore, but even with the water it is difficult. (The crab is over 50' across, and weights tons).
Aexana checks around and heals those who still need it.
Terser is to tired to climb aboard the ship and instead walks to the beach,
Jozhur goes back into the water to make sure everyone is ok, and they are.
Coerator lets the group know he didn't like how they killed a retreating animal. They were heroes, and they where better then that. -----------------
The repairs are almost done, and no enemies in sight. Are you going to try to figure out a way to get some crab meat, or continue repairing the ship to leave tommorow.

As the crab settles, Magana realizes that it is too heavy, and that she is to be robbed of a fine crab dinner. Her anger mounts, and she tries to at least rip off a leg as compensation for her wounds.

Figuring it may be easier to break through the shell now that the crab isn't moving, Terser returns to the deeps and uses his cestus to help remove parts of the crab so they can be dragged to shore, focusing primarily on the two large claws. He also takes a minute to ponder whether or not it will be safe to eat.

OOC: Sorry for the late post, ice storm hit NJ and phone lines and power lines were down basically all day.
Aexana swims to the bottom and sees the corpse of the rider. Much like on the island of Gullport, he looks like the bloated white/grayish body of the Seaspawn. On him he has a shield, and a masterwork rapier.
Magana goes to town on the crab, and after pulling and yelling under the water finally tears off one of the gigantic claws.
Terser works on the other claw, cracking it open and exposing the delicate meat. As far as he knows, the meat is edible just in bigger portions. He wonders if there is butter on board, or perhaps in the town.
Jozhur will wait for the feast, and heads back to work on the ship.
Zeoll bids farewell to his fey friends. When the time comes he helps in the preparation and cooking of the crab. At the same time, he wonders if this is enough to the gods. Aexana doesn't think it is.
Coerator knows from his time on the ship how to prepare crab meat, a little wine, some spices, and the meat takes on a delicious flavor.
Yel'kno is displeased with the group killing the fleeing creature, but doesn't mind the feast. --------------------
The claws, and some of the legs are brought onto the beach where the fire still rages. Coerator knows how to prepare the meat, and wastes no time digging into it. Some wine is brought from the ship, and one of the scavengers finds some butter in the burnt down village that luckily hasn't expired yet. The last night on the island is spent in as much relaxation as possible. The food and wine flow, and the night flies by with all the watches being uneventful. The next morning, the dawn comes over the horizon on the water, and the first site everyone sees is the Lionfish ready to sail.

Magana recovers the body that had been previously discovered. She wraps it in sailcloth to be delivered back to Brother Engev that he might identify it as the missing Brother.
She places the tightly wrapped bundle on the fo'c'sle so the prevailing wind will carry any odor away from the ship.
Then, still content from the massive crab feast the previous evening, she relaxes on the quarterdeck, glad to put this isle behind her.

As the boat is prepared, and stocked the group does their own thing in preparation to sail... once ready with everyone onboard and With the ship repaired and no enemies remaining, the Lionfish and its crew can finally leave this town once and for all. How soon they will encounter Billoopl or his seaspawn again is yet to be seen.
"A clossse one" comes an unexpected voice from the bow of the ship.
There in gold robes is a sahuagin, smiling away with his sharp, pointy teeth. He raises his open, scaly hands to his shoulders to show he in unarmed. "I come peacefully. My massster wishesss me to relay a messssage to you"

But today, he is clearly set on a specific task. Even the intimidating forms of many of the party and the crew do not seem to deter him. His eyes are steady, he isn't sweating or anxiously moving from one foot to the other. For all intents and purposes he looks very calm. }
The sahuagin bows his head to his chest as if in silent prayer. Several uneasy moments pass as the ship gently sways from side to side. Then very suddenly his head springs back to its normal position. His eyes now glow a deep red.
"You have done well" The voice is clearly no longer that of the sahuagin. It is a very recognisable voice though - that of Ga'al. "You have dealt a blow to Billoopl that will make him reconsider stepping into my domain. Yes, you have done me a service today. He will need to take some time to regroup. You may rest easy. Billoopl will see you as my champions and being 'my champions' he will see you as being under my protection. Attacking you again will be unlikely. You see, being one of my followers has many benefits"
The sahuagin looks about the party and you can almost feel Ga'als gaze reaching into your mind.
"Whether you willingly follow me or not makes no difference. Word of my new champions will spread across the lands and draw more to worship me. I can already feel my power begin to grow. You are already aiding me far more than you know." The sahuagin smiles a confident smile. "I will be sure to keep a close watch on all of you. I have a feeling you will be aiding me again very soon".
With that final premonition complete, the sahuagins head drops back down to his chest. When he slowly raises his head, his eyes are back to their normal green and black. "Do you have any messssage you wish for me to relay back to Lord Ga'al?"

Having changed back to her own Gnome self Aexana stands in awe and disbelief at the way her friends speak to this messenger... after all it's Ga'al himself who speaks to the crew! A deity that finds this pack worthy enough to speak to... sure she's also concerned about having too much of an affiliation with this God of Domination but then again can you speak like that to a god??
The Gnome druid makes a few steps left right left again. She's clearly nervous about the meeting and decides to hold her tongue. Whatever the crew decides she's with them no matter what. Going to Rum indeed was the request Lord Gargul made and she will definetely go there...

The sahugain nods it's fishy head at Magana, and her not reserved statement.
"As you wish." it says, in it's raspy voice, it then flashes a wicked smile and leaps overboard into the water. As soon as it hits the water, it is gone and just the gentle noise of the waves lapping on the side of the ship.
"Where to Captains" the call comes... " the ship is under your command."

DM Rob - Now where? Friday February 6th, 2015 2:16:27 AM Magana is quite happy to see the back of the sahuagin. There is only one God she will follow, and it isn't Ga'al.
Zeoll can but admire the bravery Magana shows. Although the saying "Fools step where wise men fear to tread" does come to mind. That done, he reminds the Captain of the promise the group made to Gargul, lord of life and death.
Coer and Yel'kno look over the maps. Both are convinced their current position will mean they will have to head northerly. (Sorry Yel'kno, have to take your Roll of a Nat1!). The two captains seem utterly confused, and honestly, not too sure about where they currently are. And being men, it is likely neither will stop to ask for directions. Fortunately for them Tula is close at hand. She has a puzzled look on her face as she speaks up "Beggin' your pardon sirs, but perhaps the map Spire prepared earlier might assist?" (from DM post Aug 18th 2014). Based on that map, the party are just off the south western tip of Totem Island. Bonetown lies but a few days to the south east, with Rum just past that.
So where to from here? Will the group act as a democracy, or will the Captain take charge?

Having some spare time Aexana practices some of her Greenmage abilities and begins to brew her first concoction... First time she spends almost 4 hours on making a kind off ointment...
"Hey friends... is anyone having a sore back or slight injuries still? I've got a great salve here I just made... oh c'mon guys... I just need someone to test this on!! "

Magana eagerly accepts some of Aexana's salve without reservation . She still has a nasty gash most of the way around her torso where the crab gripped her tightly.
To the captains, she echoes Terser's sentiment. "I agree we should proceed with all haste to the temple in Rum. A quick stop in Bonetown on the way is a necessity, however. We should not leave Brother Engev in the dark, and should allow him to inter the body as soon as possible."

Magana sighs in relief as Aexana's salve soothes the burning wound. "Good stuff!" she says. "Thank you."
Now that the burning has subsided, Magana ponders why Gargul might want them to visit the temple in Rum. Her thoughts drift back to Aexana's resurrection and the effect His presence had on her.
Without even realizing it, her eyes go blank and she drops slowly to her knees, her mind suddenly filled with Gargul's presence, or maybe just the memory of Him. Eyes open, but unseeing, she begins murmuring prayers.
This continues unabated for almost two hours, then she regains her senses. Her eyes focus and a peaceful expression (something only seen prior when she was drunk!) settles on her face.
"Ah." she says.

Pleased to see the ointment has some good effects on Magana Aexana goes back below deck to make some more herbal infusions... She spends the rest of the day preparing some CMW and CSW salves and potions. She'll continue to try all of them untill all her friends are back at full health. When the evening falls the Greenmage goes to bed with a happy smile on her face.

A deep rumble starts in Magana's chest as she overhears Yel'kno's disparaging comment about Gargul. Rather than ask what his problem is with the God of Death, she immediately goes on the offensive.
"I won't hear any criticism of Gargul!" she growls in warning. "He gave us back Aexana, and isn't trying to take credit for our actions like Ga'al is!"
She is clearly a staunch supporter of Gargul, maybe even approaching fanaticism.
