Trellus (AC27/13t/25f, HP 139/128, CMD 22)
Saturday March 7th, 2015 10:05:05 AM

Trellus follows the conversation, nodding along at the comments of Restlin, Sasha, and Bosk.

"I'm in," he notes. "If you dudes are shady with that."

Restlin (Carl) -- AC: +14/+6/+11 CMD: 23 HP: 96/96 (Spells) Luck Points: 9/9
Saturday March 7th, 2015 11:03:14 AM

Restlin listens to Trellus, pulls out a small book, and writes down "shady with that." He's not sure what kind of lingo this new guy uses, but he's pretty sure he likes it.

He then puts his hand over Sesha's. "Good. Wardd knows I'll need someone to patch me up after this."

Kyan (JonL) HP: 150/137 AC: 29/17/24 CMD: 32
Sunday March 8th, 2015 10:54:34 PM

"Just hope you got that fancy razor of yours handy, Restlin. I've heard it's our deadliest weapon." Kyan remarks.

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:38/34/32 HP:121/112 Ki:13/13 CMD: 33]

Garret looks around at the others as he pulls out a piece of meat from his belt sack and starts chewing on it. If he has been dismissed, he does not seem to mind -- or perhaps does not really notice. He looks over at the Pasha and awaits to hear more about their task ahead.

Tink looks at Garret and just grins. There was no ulterior motives to the man, no hidden agenda, no mixed meanings. If he had something on his mind he said it. He enjoyed life and wanted others to have the same luxury. She was pretty good at sizing people up, and in her view, he's a truly good person.

The army is on the move. (Co-DM JonathanT)
Monday March 9th, 2015 3:29:13 PM

Katinka remains quiet but does wonder why the Pasha sends them into the city of no return.

Garret issues a taunt of sorts in jest at Bosk, asking the minotaur if he thinks he could take on the huge bodyguard. The bodyguard smirks.

Garret suggest to the Pasha that the IA could help rid the Yngvardians of the Gaeli for good.

Restlin spends a little time with Wardd before the others are up. He things the god had some hand in the turn of events. It just seems too coincidental. Wardd, however, just laughs.

Restlin's take on the Pasha's battle plan is that it is sound. Why go slaughtering large numbers of possibly deluded young minds full of mush.

Sesha gives her take on the Pasha's request as well. Giving the Pasha the visible effect of dispersing the Gaeli fanatics is very important to the kingdom's morale. Ruffling the halfling's head, she
points out that Restlin is really keen on seeing anything Teucri and who knows what Teucri stuff might
be inside?

Beri asks the Pasha how many Gaeli made it inside.

Bosk gives Garret the nod that he's sure he could take on the big bodyguard. No one will ever
really know, of course, unless some friendly test of strength were proposed once all this is over.
Bosk has an entirely different reason to go into the Pyramid-City. As an agent of Gargul, he feels
it his duty to send any remnant of Grendel's soul, if still here, speeding onward to meet Gargul.

Trellus' response is short and to the point.

Kyan chimes in, mentioning Restlin's special sharp pointy weapon.

Garret takes his friends' comments easily and waits for any further from the Pasha.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Pasha Sigleif Gaulikson explains that the reports are that only a small number entered the city. It would be
foolish for a huge number to enter with no guarantee of getting out. He suspects that if the first group takes too long to return, another will go in, and another, and another, and so forth, now that they know how to get in.

The Pasha smiles at Garret's assertions of their strength against an army but assures the halfling, and the others, that defeating the Gaeli army isn't the main priority.
"Catching those that got in and making sure they don't succeed is the main priority. I have a superior force in quality and numbers and victory is certain. But what then if those inside managed to get Grendel's items of power and manage to get away to who knows where?

However, once inside, who best to figure out how to get out? Your complement of skills and magic make you far more suited than my selected group. Our desert life is very isolated in comparison to the rest of these lands and it is difficult to acquire such powerful items as your little group has. Your group alone has the best chance of succeeding in both tasks, catch the Gaeli group and getting back out. I'm quite confident my selected group can catch the Gaeli group, but I'm more confident in you returning than they."
He says the last with a grim countenance.

But still, it is only a request for volunteers. The Pasha sends out the orders to get the army moving so as not to miss the rendezvous point with the rest of his forces. The IA are invited to travel along with the Pasha's bodyguards and the Pasha will explain more about the task.

He shows the copy of the scroll that deciphers the runic cryptic message on the doors.
"There are wide steps that lead up to a 20 foot wide, 30 foot tall entry into the Mountain-city. The doors there have been removed long ago. There is then a 30 foot corridor that opens up into a foyer. This is where caravans who's turn to enter the city waited for the final go-ahead. Inside this huge foyer is where you'll find the massive doors that lead into the Mountain-city proper and the one with the runes. Long ago we tried busting down the doors with battering rams and magical means but nothing made even a scratch. But once the runes were figured out, getting by the doors was not a problem. However, after many
warriors entered and did not return, fewer warriors had a desire to try and most of us have accepted the desert life. It has been many years since anyone has tried again. Only a couple brave warriors have tried in my lifetime."

The scroll describes how certain runes match up. It appears the runes, although stuck to the doors, can be moved around to form a 'phase'. The scroll indicates which runes to move and in which order they are to be lined up.

The whole inside of the Pyramid is one big city. However, since it has been centuries since anyone was inside (and came out), the description is a bit sketchy. It is square on the inside, of course, and the city was divided into four quadrants. One for the merchants, one for housing, one for administration, and one for the royal palace. That's about all that anyone remembers from the stories. There are no maps of the inside, of course.

The army travels along and the Pasha answers any further questions the IA have.

DM JT: I don't want to throw you guys into the fray if you still have questions.

Restlin (Carl) -- AC: +14/+6/+11 CMD: 23 HP: 96/96 (Spells) Luck Points: 9/9
Monday March 9th, 2015 4:59:39 PM

"I'm guessing this phrase isn't something that's translatable? Did you just try every option until one worked?"

Restlin ponders some more. "I guess we're ready. I have questions, but you seem to have told us everything you know about what we're walking into."

Beriothian -- AC:23/16/21 HP: 130+9/130 CMD = 19
Monday March 9th, 2015 5:37:29 PM

Beri listens to the description and starts picturing a stone version of Hook City hidden away inside the mountain.

Since this is a mountain we are talking about, does the description say anything about how the levels of each quadrant are laid out? Is the inside shaped like a stone city underneath a stone triangular dome? Or more like a giant floors with grids of rooms?

Trellus (AC27/13t/25f, HP 139/128, CMD 22)
Monday March 9th, 2015 7:47:33 PM

Trellus can't think of any additional questions that the Pasha would be able to answer.

He does take the opportunity to cast Continual Light onto four unlit torches, and crams them into his handy haversack.
"Sealed off city that no one has entered or left in centuries," he muses aloud, while rubbing the back of his head. "So..... undead of course.....traps....what else is in there?"

Bosk AC: 33/16/29 CMD:28 103 of 103 Spells

Bosk looks to the others, Do we want to coordinate what spells we prepare? Anyone feel there is something we must ready, or scrolls / potions we should buy first?

Sesha looks around.

"I'm not sure we have time for a catacombs trip Bosk. I could maybe make it home with a Plane Shift, but I don't know exactly where we are to get us back. I'll make us another meal the night before we arrive. It should last us through to the next day at least."

She considers other spells.

"I don't have the formal knowledge that Restlin does, but it seems to me a mountain city is a place where Beri's abilities to meld into stone will be useful. I'll try again to summon help from Serenbeth, the girls who appeared before were quite obviously ghosts. Their ability to pass through walls will be useful."

After that she is at a loss.

"You have seen the better part of my Witch spells. I can help or hinder, but directly affect very little."

"Don't sell yourself short, dear. Perhaps you've spent too much time around orcs if you feel that being able to manipulate the battlefield rather than directly injure our enemies is something to be ashamed of.

"Anyway, I am ready when the rest of you are."

Tink casts her Tishe's Weave Elements for the day. Unfortunately her crafting skill once again let's her down and the garments only have 1 power (Craft clothing: 25=1 Power)

"I've got 4 other garments here. Sorry they're not real powerful guys. Who wants one? Blur, Waterbreathing, Resist Fire/20, or Barkskin+3? You have to wear them on your chest too"

"I'll also cast a telepathic bond just before we go in. Like I said before, the duration is pretty short so we need to make it count"

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:38/34/32 HP:121/112 Ki:13/13 CMD: 33]

When the Pasha suggests that they will travel with the army, Garret's eyes light up and he steps up to the front, "Will we be able to ride on those flying camels again? That was quite a good time!" He looks back sheepishly at the others standing tall and proper and mumbles, "You know, if there is space, of course."

Restlin eyes the garments, but feels the front line folks would make better use of them.

Still, if there's any left after they (and Sesha) have a chance, he'll grab a barkskin one.

Sesha considers the garments for a moment, then realizes they wouldn't work with her armor, which was something she wouldn't part with.

"I think I'll trust in my mithril shirt, Tink."

Thanks Tink, that bark skin would be very useful for me.

If no one else want it, I would like the blur garment. I am preparing magic circle against evil, but since it lasts about an hour and a half I will wait to cast it.

Ooc: So happy someone is using Tishe's Weave Elements spell! :-)

Took me a long time to create that spell.
