Inside the Pyramid

The Pyramid! (Co-DM JonathanT)
Wednesday March 11th, 2015 12:28:43 AM

The army moves out. With a cloud of dust advertising the advance, surprise is impossible. But that was not the intent anyway. Flying Camel scout units come and go with news of the other elements of the army coming from the different oasis. It is a well organized advance even if this is the largest mustering since they had to fight some Sand Giants.

Most of the army moves on foot. Camel Calvary units stay downwind to prevent as much dust as possible
from hampering the foot soldiers.

And of course, it is HOT!

Behind the army trails the caravan of supplies with lots of water and food.

The units march in formation of Archers behind soldiers, who's large tower shields, at the moment being carried in wagons, next to the units. Light infantry lead the advance.

Restlin feels about as ready as he'll get, satisfied that the Pasha has told them all they know about what the Mountain-City.

Beri pictures a stone version of Hook City hidden away inside a mountain. He tries to get a mental map of the layout inside and asks a few more questions to help him visualize it better.

Trellus gets four torches ready with Continual Flame on the tips and ticks off the things he expects to meet inside, "...undead...traps...undead...more traps...more undead...."

Bosk confers with his friends to coordinate their spells and asks about getting some scrolls and potions first.

Sesha points out that, since the army is already on the move, there's little time to acquire any such stuff Bosk asks about. The Yngvardians don't have access to the Catacombs and Plane Shift would most likely be a one-way trip. She also points out that, the city being of and in stone, Beri's meld into stone would be handy and perhaps the ghost-girls. Who knows? She doens't fell she has much in the Spell category to help much.

Katinka casts a rarely used spell called Tishe's Weave Elements. She produces four garments with some simple powers and offers them to the group.

Garret can't get enough of the flying camels and asks the Pasha if they'll be riding on one of those, expressing his delight he had the first time.

Kyan follows happily along, glad to be doing something that is leading them somewhere.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The Pasha laughs at Beri's notion of the Mountain-City.
"We call it the Mountain-City because they Gaeli tried to build a city replicating their capital. It is made of stone and the city is inside, that's for sure. In reality it is a pyramid of gigantic proportions. It tappers to a point, of course. I imagine that the city inside has streets and such like any other. We do know that the city is divided into four quadrants as I described, but how they lie our stories don't describe. Other than that, it is all speculation."

To Garret the Pasha laughs again and says that he certainly enjoyed ridding a flying camel too, but unfortunately they are all busy at the moment.

Various IA members accept Tink's magical garments and the trip ambles along at a good clip. They spend a night among the stark white sand dunes that seem to glow under the starlight and Sesha has another big feast whipped up for them.

The next day is much the same but now they see the pyramid getting closer. What looked like a small thing looms bigger and bigger to the point of looking like a small pointy mountain. Several skirmishes erupt as scouts encounter Gaeli scouts.

It will be night again before they reach the pyramid, but this night is busy as the army breaks up into the different attack units. The Pasha spends most of his time in conference studying the latest intel reports.

The IA can get a good view of the Gaeli army camped around the pyramid, which now definitely looks like a small mountain. It is clear that a small group would find it difficult to get past all the sentries and to the main doors. Not impossible, but sheer numbers would be against them. The Pasha's plan, though, counts on the element of surprise. That is, the Gaeli's will be looking for a group of Yngvardians to try to get through. The Pasha plans to put the IA in the middle of a cavalry charge. The wedge shaped charge will drill a hole through the front lines and the IA, hidden in the middle of the charge, can then make a dash to the doors. Meanwhile, magic will create confusion with sand and dust to keep the Gaeli distracted. The Pasha suggest that if the IA have other means of concealment, to use it liberally as well even though the Gaeli army has priests and shamans that might be able to see past them.

Dawn breaks with the advance of the shield wall and the archers. The Gaeli reply in return. The flying camels stay out of range for now but the land camels get ready for their charge. The shock troops first charge the Gaeli lines to put them in confusion and disarray, then the camel cavalry takes off when the shock troops pull back at the sound of the horn.

The IA ride on camels in the middle (or fly invisibly or in air elemental form, however you wish to go) and the clash of steel on steel rings and reverberates all around them. The plan works fairly well, the IA having to slice down only a few Gaeli that get caught in the middle. Then, as if only seconds had past, they IA find the camel cavalry opening up at the tip to let the IA make their dash to the steps up to the entrance. Dust and sand swirl around and smoke and clouds suddenly appear but this does not hamper the experienced IA all that much. They make it up the 40' of steps to the entrance with little resistance and then they are inside the foyer.

Going from bright sunlight to the dim interior of the foyer is a big change. The din of the battle echoes around inside playing tricks on the senses. Trellus' Continual Flame torches help get some light inside.

The foyer his huge. The torch light does not illuminate all of the vast room but straight ahead 50 feet, two similar torches to Trellus' are held in brackets in the wall, one on each side of the main entrance doors.

Restlin pulls his prized sword, Shiny, from its scabbard. He smacks the pommel with an open hand and flatly states, "glow, baby." The length of the sword begins to glow (cast spell: light). The weapon's natural sheen lends a slight prismatic variation to the light it gives off.

"That went well. If we get out of this alive, we'll have to compliment the Pasha. For now, we need to get moving. I think Trellus should take point, Kyan rear guard, and Tink should be scouting ahead & making sure we're not wandering into any traps. We know the Gaeli are already in here and searching for stuff that will make this whole business a lot more messy.

"So cast spells if you've got'em. We've got an ancient power to save..."

Restlin grabs a blur garment from Tink & casts mage armor.

Garret rides along with the others, at times appearing as little more than an extra-large hump on the camel. He doesn't really get involved with the fighting much, as he has little reach from the camel, though he is tempted to jump off more than once. Instead he rides along and stays with the group all the way into the foyer.

Once there, he quickly takes up a defensive position at the entrance to help block any attackers. He calls back, "Just let me know when you open the doors, and I'll be in there in a flash!"

Beri waits to transform until they are out of site a the door. As a human he is fairly inconspicuous, but somebody might notices the disappearance of a big air elemental that was their earlier.

I'll keep an eye out from above once we are inside and let out a screech if I see something. I'm about to transform, so if anyone needs anything let me know now.

Trellus wakes in the morning of the battle, and prepares/casts his usual spells, while also adding quite a few specific to undead.
"We end up fighting a bunch of giant rats, I'm sunbaked," he jokes.

The cleric casts status on Katinka, Garret, Bosk and Beriothain.

Soon, the blond man is riding a camel through the din and confusion, and quite suddenly finds himself in the huge, empty foyer. He pulls out one of his torches and wedges it upright in a pocket of his pack (with the light above his head, but his hands free).

His eyes go wide at the suggestion he lead, but Restlin's followup about Katinka scouting ahead, and Beriothian's stated intention to scout from the air calms him considerably.

Nodding toward the main doors, Trellus waits for Katinka and Beriothian, and then moves forward.

A new day means a new casting of Tishe's Weave Elements, and this one Tink is able to fashion just a little nicer (Craft weaving check: 32=2 powers! That's more like it). She don's the Water one herself, and then offers the rest to the group.

Beri and Restlin get earth ones: Barkskin +3 and Tremorsense 40 ft
Bosk gets an air one: Blur (20% miss chance) and Fly 60ft (Good)
And the final one air one Tink offers to Kyan.

"I know you didn't say you wanted one, but this one will give you some protection, as well as give you the ability to fly. Could come in handy"

And then the journey. The usually perceptive halfling chooses not to look down at the battle unfolding below them. Her instinct is to go and help the people below, not to fly past and do nothing.

Fortunately, she has this foyer and door to now occupy her thoughts.

First - spell time. Tink casts Telepathic Bond, encompassing herself, Sesha, Beri, Trellus and Restlin.

Next - Renew invisibility. Tink utters the all-too familiar command word on her ring of invisibility.

Finally, she is ready. "I'm going to check out the door" she advises over the telepathic link.

Bosk AC: 33/16/29 CMD:28 103 of 103 Spells
Wednesday March 11th, 2015 11:12:20 PM

Bosk's eyes grow wide as he puts on Tink's magical garments. That spell is truly amazing. I wish I knew such grand magic. Do you always prepare this spell? As his outline blurs the true extent of the items powers reveals itself. He realizes that his magic is not only weaker than Tinks, but once again admires the spells available to her and their long duration. With this magical concealment I can add sneak damage to every attack I make!!! This is...gods be good. This is AMAZING!!! The horned cleric's mind begins to drift, and he wonders if there might be some way to live like this always... Perhaps I could put spell storing on my secondary weapon and use it to cast blur...

Seeing the two torches in the wall Bosk focus back on the task at hand and walks over and helps himself to them. Anyone want to carry one of these? I do not want to leave them behind for whoever might be dumb enough to follow us. Taking them off the wall, if possible, he then begins casting spells, checking the area for poison and magic as well as seeing if there he can detect those that already entered the city. Lastly, he casts dark vision on himself to ensure he can see should the light go out.

I have a few spells prepared for undead and for fighting evil creatures, but their duration is not as long as Tink's and I will have to wait to cast them.

The Pyramid! (Co-DM JonathanT)
Thursday March 12th, 2015 12:22:41 AM

Inside the huge foyer and away from the horrors of battle, the IA take stock of their situation. With various sources of light, the way to the main doors is illuminated, but most of the foyer remains dark and ominous.

The floor of the foyer is heavily scarred by all manner of hoofed and wheeled traffic but very old and worn.

Restlin draws Shiny and commands it to shed light. He admires the Pasha's plan to get them inside and makes a verbal note to mention that when they get back out. He sets up their marching order and advises it is time to cast their prep spells. He himself activate Tinks' blur garment and casts Mage Armor on himself.

Garret hangs on more that actually 'rides' the camel through the writhing mass of bodies in mortal combat. His own combat is against his instincts to jump down and join the fray. His turn comes soon enough, though, when he stands guard at the foyer entrance. A 3 foot speck of flesh in the middle of a 20 foot wide and 30 foot tall entryway.

Beri rides the camel as well, figuring that if they are trying to be inconspicuous, an Air Elemental would stick out just a wee too much. Inside, though, he prepares to transform, but waits to see if anyone needs anything from him first.

Trellus has his spell selection geared more towards undead, joking that if they only come across some giant rats, he's sunbaked. Just before they charge into combat, he casts Status on Katinka, Garret, Bosk and Beri. Inside, he is surprised that he's asked to take point, but understands that with katinka scouting ahead and Beri looking on from above, he'll be just fine. He sets one of his torches in a backpack pocket so it sticks up over his head.

Looking ahead, he notices the old worn floor with its many scars and marks. The dust in the place is disturbed in a wide swath towards the main doors 50' ahead.

Katinka casts her weaving spell again when she wakes up, just before they army musters into their combat positions. She hands out the resulting garments to her friends, and then they are off into combat, bouncing on the camels. She focues her attention ahead and holds back her instincts to help the Yngvardian soldiers.

Inside the foyer, she casts Telepathic Bond on herself, Sesha, Beri, Trellus, and Restlin. She renews her Invisibility, then goes to check out the big entry doors.

Sesha watches Tink and is glad for the millionth time for the small Justicar. She prepares herself by casting Barkskinn and Pot-Pot improves her armor.

Bosk is at a loss of words in such admiration of Tink's weaving spell, wishing he had a way to cast Blur on himself on a more regular basis. He sees the two Continual Flame torches flanking the entry doors 50' ahead and purposes to take them, not wanting any Gaeli to manage to make use of them.

He fist things about searching the room for traps but realises that its immensity would make that task last about as long as the battle. However, while the others study the runes, he makes a quick walk around. The foyer is a rectangular room 100 feet long, 50 feet wide, and 30 feet tall. He finds nothing unusual. While he does this, he tries to recall what they know of Grendel the Cruel.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Karinka scouts ahead with her multifaceted skills of detection. She reaches the big double doors without incident. The doors, of course, radiate magic, the doors themselves and the runes.

In front of the PCs are the massive doors that presumably lead into the Pyramid City. The double doors are each 10' wide and 30' high. The doors are peppered with runes matching the style of the Teucri writings from Hook City. From studying the cypher scroll, you know you need to pick out certain runes and line them up. At first glance it would seem that the battle would be long over by the time you've tested all the combinations of runes but the scroll points out which ones and what order. Someone else has spent their live/lives doing all that hard work for you.

The runes can't be removed from the door but can be slid around. Those runes towards the top will need someone really tall or levitating/flying to reach.

Bosk recalls that Grendel the Cruel was a Gaeli warchief that came into power, some say by the workings of a divine being, and sought to conquer and enslave the Yngvardians, the only large group of humans in the area. The Pyramid was build from stone from their mountainous homeland by the slave labor of the Yngvardians. They pyramid is big enough to house an entire city inside. No one has been able to breach a hold in the stone walls and the Rund Doors are have proven just as impassible to anyone who does not know the code.

Of Grendel the Cruel himself, very little is known. After he was mortally wounded, he was taken inside his city where he died. The survivors said they entombed him there. It is believed that destroying any remains of Grendel the Cruel will free the area of the curse.

Tink tries not to blush - and fails. To receive praise from such veterans is very humbling. Fortunately with her stealth and invisibility, noone saw her.

"We each have our talents, and I'd like to think we complement each other. Why, Sesha's ways with outsiders and her assortment of spells are far beyond me. And Bosk, if only I could treat the wounded as you do - or make others wounded like you do! I'm content to be seen as an equal member of this team" comes the voice of the invisible tink as she tries to downplay the praise she received. "As you've seen, when combat occurs, as it inevitably does, you guys more than outshine me"

"Now then. I think this rune first, then this one, and then ... this one" she reaches out to touch/move the runes, but chances are, only those that can see invisibility know what she is doing

"Maybe no one's come back because there's an entirely different set of runes on the inside. It would take one person a lifetime to figure out how to open this door, and that's assuming they didn't need to eat or drink. Maybe there's a pile of dead warriors on the opposite side who had no trouble finishing off Grendel the Cruel, but just couldn't leave.

"Ah well, guess we'll find out, right?" He elbows Sesha and grins. "Nothing a little teleport won't fix even if that's the case."

I would never disrespect my lineage by undervaluing myself, but neither will I forget that lesson.

Bosk continues to scan the area for magic, wanting to determine if there might be some property in the walls preventing the use of magic to move through them in case of the need for an alternate exit. In addition to checking for hindrance or blockage he checks the walls themselves to see their composition, particularly looking for lead.

Sesha sees the others examining the runes and realizes that yet again, she is in a situation that requires formal learning or vast experience, which is something she had very little of. Still, perhaps she could find a way around the doors for now, at least where scouting was concerned.

Using her Rod of Extend, she channels summoning magic, calling again the servants of Serenbeth. She been surprised last time, by the sudden appearance and disappearance of a strange phantom, but having prayed to Serenbeth on the matter she felt she could be confident in the abilities of the ghastly maiden.

She extends the spell with her rod, and is extra pleased that she finds a powerful ley line of woldsblood to fuel her spell without much effort.

(Assuming i have the time necessary to finish the spell)

With a burst of wind and a swirl of light, a whole quartet of young Drow appear. Similarly dressed in the same holy vestments of Serenbeth, they each grin mischievously and wave at Sesha. The whisper amongst themselves for a moment, then three of them quickly wink out of view, leaving just one.

"Hello Sesha, how can we help you?"

Sesha swallows, then asks her favor.

"For right now, could you please scout through the walls and make sure we aren't walking into an ambush?"

The ghost nods, then tries to pass through the walls to the other side.

The Pyramid opens! (Co-DM JonathanT)
Friday March 13th, 2015 1:27:00 AM

DM OOC: Short post tonight. :}

The IA get down to business once inside the foyer of the great pyramid. The darkness inside is easily taken care of and the IA take to different tasks. Bosk starts searching around the immense room. A few tracks in the dust outside the central path indicate that others did what he is doing. For the tracks that lead form the entryway to the doors, it is impossible to tell the numbers. The detects no magic in the walls and no lead. The walls are made of granite.

Katinka picks out the first rune depicted in the scroll after a quick search on the double doors and scoots it over to a middle spot and looks for the next. This goes on for several minutes. It is soon evident that the runes needed are one of a kind whereas all the extra runes have duplicates.

Meanwhile Sesha casts an interesting spell that brings forth a ghostly figure of a drow. She asks it to pass through the walls and scout the other side looking for ambushes and what not. The The Immortal Summons nods and heads for the wall but collides with it instead of slipping through. If a ghost could be dazed, this one would fit the description. Although the walls don't radiate magic, something prevents the Immortal Summons from passing through. It turns to Sesha and shrugs.

Garret keeps watch at the main entrance and the sounds of battle echoe through the passageway. It appears to be going as strong and vicious as ever.

Beri switches into Air Elemental form in the shape of a bat. No, not the wooden club kind.

Trellus makes a fitting joke and Restlin proposes the idea that a jumble of runes on the opposite side of the doors have prevented anyone from getting out, as it would take them too long to discover the proper combination of runes before food and water run out. A pile of desiccated skeletons may be awaiting on the other side.

The minutes tick by and katinka gets better at finding the proper runes. Five minutes pass and she slides the last rune into position. What the so called 'phrase' could possibly mean is anyone's guess. It could be 'Open Sesame' as far as anyone knows.

When the last rune slides into place the double doors shimmer and glow golden. A bright light flashes from the door edges and a solid POP is heard, then a crack appears between the two doors as the doors start to swing inwards. For their age, they swings silently and smoothly.

The Continual Flame torches reveal a dark corridor 40 feet wide, 30 feet tall, and longer than the light source reveals. Longer than 60 feet. No pile of dead warriors lie on the other side.

DM JT: time for the marching order and all that other good stuff.

The wizard grips his holy symbol and asks Wardd very nicely if he can help him check out the magic on the door (detect magic orison).

Spellcraft 25 - What's blocking these ghosts?

Restlin checks the back of the doors for some kind of unlock mechanism. Just because there isn't a pile of dead bodies behind the door doesn't mean that they'll be able to open it.

Once all that is out of the way, he settles in near the front of the marching order, but behind someone who wears some decent armor & can take a hit.

"Any chance you detect spirits OTHER than the one I summoned? I don't want one jumping out at me. Even if you don't sense one now, keep checking just to be on the safe side."

Task accomplished, she pokes Restlin and points.

"Keep your eyes forward Mage-Priest. I need you focused and not pincushioned. I don't think there's much danger here, but if anyone sets off the mage-seeking-doom-dart trap, it's going to be you."

Sense Spirit (SU): The grim can sense the direction and distance to any disembodied spirit or soul in long range (400 ft. + 40 ft./level), even through material objects. This could let the grim target the spirit's square, but not see it (unless it is within 60 feet). Sense spirit is a supernatural ability that takes a full round action to initiate and lasts for so long as the grim concentrates.

The corridor runs 100' into the 'mountain'. The stone floor is heavily marked by the heavy wagons that had passed through umpteen times in the past. No magic radiates from the walls. No Runes are on the inside of the doors either.

The IA discuss ways to prop the doors open but do they actually try a method?

Bosk activates his Sense Spirit and immediately senses spirits at the far range of his ability.

But the most important thing is the (nearly) overwhelming sense of evil that is as oppressive on the psyche as the heat outside was on the body.

The IA travel the 100' of passageway without incident. Complete darkness envelopes all space outside the limits of any light source. The air is dusty and heavy and the silence is deafening. The only noise is the IA's and their echoes.

At the end of 100 foot 'street', the IA reach a platform that overlooks darkness beyond comprehension. However, looking up, the IA notice countless 'stars' twinkling. To the left of this Scenic Overlook platform is a the ramp that leads down to the city's ground level.

Humanoid booted tracks led down the street and now lead down the ramp.

Tink isn't sure if the others have seen the tracks, so lets the group know of them via the telepathic bond. Her tracking skills are certainly not up to par for a justicar of her standard.

She has a closer look at the tracks hoping to try and determine the size of the bootprints (hopefully no large creatures) and possibly determine their numbers (Perception: 32 + Arcane Sight + Dark Vision + See Invisibility + Detect Scrying)

"What do you suppose those stars really are?" she asks "Gemstones? Magical light? Big glow worms?"

"We could always fly up and get a closer look, but we may be fighting the clock if the Gaeli are already down here." He looks at his sword and frowns. "Shiny's not gonna cut it as far as lighting this place up, and I don't have anything brighter. There's some irony here, as Gloomy would have been really handy right now."

The wizard telepathically ensures Shiny that he still prefers this new incarnation over Gloomy.

"Tink says there are footprints leading down, btw," he adds for those who aren't telepathically linked to the Justicar. "We should probably follow them."

Unable to speak, Beri hopes the others just let the doors close. He trusts in their ability to get out again, perhaps they will get lucky and the door locks dispel with the rest of the magic once the evil inside is destroyed.

DM JT OOC: leaving Kyan out as apparently he bend down to tie his boots and the door closed leaving him outside. The Runes reset themselves immediately upon the door closing and he doesn't have the scroll. It will be a while before he figures it out, if ever.

Katinka points out the tracks in the dust. They are booted and fit a medium sized biped. She's curious about the 'twinkling stars' visible high up in the darkness and wonders what they are.

Resltin admits that the 'twinkling stars' would be gorgeous if not for all the depressing evil about. Time is not on their side, otherwise they could fly up there and investigate them, but instead he suggests following the footprints in the dust.

Trellus agrees that any method to prop the doors open would have been tried by now and that obviously didn't work. On the other hand, he doesn't want a fleeing Gaeli army at his heels either. He telepathically asks Katinka how far ahead she plans to stay and points out they aren't going to surprise anything due to their lights.

Beri Flies on, hoping that the magic that keeps it shut will go away once the evil inside is destroyed. He is glad they have one that can sense spirits of the ghoslty kind, not just the liquid kind but keeps a keen eye out for other 'things'.

Bosk stops his singing when Tink moves forward and puts his concentration on detecting spirits. At the far end of his range, he senses too many to count.

Garret walks in silence, literally, and watches their backs. He sees the doors silently close and click to lock. Then, with a wave of shock he realizes Kyan was tying his boots but not on the INSIDE of the 'street', but still OUTSIDE!
How should he tell the folks?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Countless souls of the dead, trapped in the Gaeli city for all this time, flood Bosk's Sense Spirit ability, but since the whole area radiates evil, it is impossible to tell if any individual is evil or not. No aura of evil overpowers the aura of evil that permeates the entire area.

Other than flying of jumping off (into the darkness below) the overlook, the only way down into the dark city is the ramp. Good thing the tracks in the dust go that way too. The IA decide (presumably) to follow them down.

Survival (Track) DC15: Highlight to display spoiler: {There are about 20 sets of boot prints.}

The musty, stale air is worse at the bottom of the ramp. At the bottom, the ramp opens up into a wide area, or plaza. At the edge of the light, there appears to be an odd depression in the stone floor. All the buildings the IA can see so far are made of stone and most are two stories high.

A door banks shut somewhere in the dark.

The IA enter a square plaza with a depression in the middle. When they aren't moving and or making any noise, they hear what might be mistaken to be a light breeze through the buildings but there's no breeze. The sound of a door closing startles some. It's echoes reverberate across the plaza but it where exactly did it originate? Somewhere to the left.

Bosk cautions his friends that he senses dead spirits everywhere, too many to count. He hopes they leave the IA alone.

Katinka scouts around 40' from the party, curious about the door bang, using her darkvision.

Restlin gets a feel for the whole area and expresses his sentiments on the plight of the trapped spirits. Urging the group forward, he investigates the depression in the center of the plaza.

[g]Garret[/b]catches up with the group and gives them the bad news that Kyan somehow didn't make it though the doors before they closed and asks who has the scroll.

Beri adopts a circular pattern around the IA as they move. A main concern is whether those spirits Bosk sense can fly or not.

Sesha sends her Summoned Spirit forward. The spirit informs the witch that there is something powerful in the rocks that keeps it from being able to meld into it. That would make sense, otherwise the spirits inside the pyramid would have left eons ago? Sesha's Summoned Spirit will have to travel above ground like everyone else.

DM JT: tell me how far ahead the spirit goes from the group.

Trellus grumbles about Bosks casual quip about Not to worry but... and points in the direction Katinka went.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The plaza is square. As the IA move forward and some scout around, they determine that they've come upon some meeting square. The depression dips down to about 5' deep and in the middle there is a hole a couple of inches in diameter. The rock looks in the depression has a greenish tint to it. The buildings surrounding the square have a business look to them, with covered patios and large windows facing the square.

Streets converge to the plaza much like those in Hook City converge on the Iron Tower square.

The tracks lead onward down a street from the plaza and into the middle of the dark, spooky, creepy, chills-up-your-spine city.

Into the Darkness. (Co-DM JonathanT)

Myrth - Immortal Summons
Has Light Blindness, Darkvision 120ft, incorporeal, and a few other things. All spells memorized are unchanged from the basic drow mm entry, with the exception of evil spells swapped for good ones.

The IA inspect the depression and greenish tint to the stone floor. It would appear that the depression was a pool of water at some point in time, the hole in the middle was either a drain or a water spout. But all is now dry. From the design of the buildings and the location of the large square with a pool of water right in front of the ramp leading into the city, a good guess is that this is a business quarter.

Sesha's Immortal Summons ventures into the darkness, scouting out the dead city. There does not appear to be any magical emanations about, but Bosk still senses multitudes of spirits. Nothing in this area appears to be trapped as the IA move to the street the tracks in the dust lead to.

The street is a little wider than the others but just as dark and ominous. In the darkness, attentive ones catch glimpses of vague shapes flitting past an open building window. Hollow sounds as in a door or window shutter being slammed closed echo into the darkness but it is impossible to tell the direction of the source.

And above all this the twinkling lights way, way , way up in the 'sky' continue their twinkling.

Several blocks down the street Myrth comes running back to the group.

Into the Darkness. (Co-DM JonathanT)
Monday March 23rd, 2015 11:28:10 AM

Restlin deduces that the greenish tint to the stone floor of the depressed area is the moss stains general assossiated with pools of water. Maybe the hole in the center is a drain? A fountain?

He wonders if Bosk has a plan, considering the spirits everywhere.

Garret feels that snacking while watching their back trail will keep him alert. Maybe it works. Although nothing he can see or sense seems to follow them, he definitely gets the feeling they are being watched by 'eyes in the darkness'. If ghost's eyes could glow in the dark, he might choke on his snack.

Bosk's plan is to not go asking for trouble with the spirits if they keep at keeping their distance and stick to the boot prints in the dust. After checking out the hole in the center of the depression, he ascertains that it is deep, it's size is that of a pipe much like that of a drain or pump water in, barely wide enough to stick his fist in. There's no grate over it so there is the danger of breaking a foot or ankle if stepping wrong over it.
There's no indication that anything 'living' resides down the hole and no Teucri signs that might indicate a Memory Stone hidey-hole.

Beri keeps to his circling patter of the group and does not stray from that, hopping that the spirits don't hunger for the corporeal.

Katinka alerts everyone in her link that she does not thing they are alone, having the impression things quickly flitting in and out of her peripheral view. The warning is probably unnecessary as just about everyone has gotten the same impression.

She continues her forward scouting, observing the 40' distance very carefully, taking heed to Sesha's warning (see below).

Sesha appologises to her Summons. Myrth replies that, although mostly tolerated, some spirits are so full of hate they attacked on sight. Alone or not, she didn't think it would matter. That they have not been attacked here is probably a miracle.

Trellus keeps silent and watchful and following the tracks as they lead deeper into the city.

Garret's chewing slows down a bit as his attention focus on his environement, what he can see and sense of it.

Restlin finally starts getting the idea that this place may actually be dangerous rather than just 'another place for the Iron Adventurers to kick some bad-guy behind'.

Trellus makes a note of the Time, Date, and Place when Resltin stopped talking.

Beriothian in bat form takes note of Katinka's attention being drawn to something.

Katinka halts and send a message back to the group. She's going to check out some up ahead.

Bosk prepares to charge in if Katinka needs help.

DM JT: Katinka has Darkvision and can see 60' in the dark. She states she waits until the group gets a little closer before going in to investigate. Keeping with the 40' scouting distance, I'd say the IA hold at the 40' mark from the bodies.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The IA come to a halt 40' from the bodies while Katinka checks out the what lies ahead. The dead quiet of the place is even worse now that no one moves. There is a soft munch-munch-munch sound coming from very close behind.

Katinka stealthily approaches in the dark and invisibly while flying, the two bodies lying propped up against
a building's outside wall.

The buildings in this area look like residences, all made of stone and two stories high. Some have balconies, all have windows on both floors.

The shutters from a window across the street from the bodies slams shut!

The two bodies are dressed and armored in similar fashion as the Gaelis they met at the war monument. They appear dead, gashes on their bodies but no blood, like it has been sapped clean out. There are signs of a fight in the dust. The fight looks like it took place in the middle of the street.

He hopes that Tink is calm enough or perceptive enough that she doesn't let out a yell that will alert the enemies to their presence...

"Pantheon's pyjamas!" Tink screams aloud. Well, not those words exactly. This is a PG environment after all.

Her shock is short lived, as she spies Sesha and Myrth.

"Trellus, do me a favour? Raise Myrth from the dead so I can kill her again" With Tink invisible it's hard to gauge her true feelings on this.

Into the Darkness. (Co-DM JonathanT)
Thursday March 26th, 2015 12:26:59 AM

What looked like the moment of combat all have been anticipating turned out to be a simple practical joke. Once the ruse is seen through, the two bodies gracefully sit back down where they were.

The reactions to the prank vary, but no serious harm done. Katinka will have to work hard to get her revenge prank to equal or exceed Sesha's.

katinka finds nothing of real value on the bodies. Other than the chain armor, all valuables had been stripped. Their wounds, although enough to be serious, don't seem enough to kill. There must have been other things at play that hastened their death, not yet 24 hours ago.

The tracks are easy enough to follow and lead to a corner of a 10' wall, then take a left turn up one side.
Restlin jumps up and takes a peek over the top and briefly glimpses the tops of dead trees.

The corner of the wall is at a right angle and going to the left would follow the tracks. The wall looks easily enough to jump or scale or fly over if anyone so wished but the tracks didn't.

Curious as to what lies beyond? Curious as to where the tracks finally lead? Curious as to why or how trees grew here? curious as to how Tink will get back at Sesha?

So am I, so I hold my breath and watch and wait to see what the IA do... :)

Once it is determined the corpses were a practical joke Bosk finds himself wishing he had prepared a speak with dead spell in order to find out what killed the corpses. With that not an option he ponders taking the armor and tying the corpses up to prevent future zombies. After a moment he decides against it. If these human shells were going to be brought back as undead weapons they likely woud still have their weapons on them. He then continues following the others to the wall. As the group stop to decide where to go the horned cleric once again scans for spirits, making sure to include the area behind the wall.

Sesha arches a brow at Restlin, not quite sure if he's serious about that whole boost thing. She wasn't above it, but she had other things on her mind. Bosk had never met a corpse he didn't want to talk to in her experience, and him not talking to one of these was a hint he didn't have the spell to do it ready.

"Myrth, would you please? I've got to talk to someone."

The Ghostly cleric nods, then offers Restlin telekinetic aid to get to the top of the wall.

Sesha joins Bosk by the bodies.

Fun with the Dead. (Co-DM JonathanT)
Friday March 27th, 2015 1:21:00 AM

The IA pause at the corner where two long walls meet. At this point the IA ponder: Go over the wall or follow the tracks. The tracks follow next to the wall to the left. North, South, etc. in such dark is meaningless. The tracks moved with purpose. That is, there was no pause at the corner as the IA have done.

The streets separating the two sections of walls here are at least twice as wide as the other streets. The buildings opposite the left running wall have a more austere look, more 'functional', whereas the buildings opposite the right running wall have the more 'lived' in look.

Bosk wishes he'd prepared a Speak With Dead spell. He might learn how they died. He Briefly ponders if they'll come back, for real, but gives up the idea, all they'd be able to do is pummel.

Once again, detection of spirits reveals multitudes all about. Even on the other side of the wall.

Sesha questions Restlin's curiosity for what is on the other side of the wall.

DM Note: the bodies are several blocks away from the corner where the wall is.

Sesha starts her Speak with Dead spell anyway, gambling that the information she gains will be worth it. Oddly enough, the corps of one of the Gaeli soldiers appears to start to answer but then is choked off.

Sesha: Highlight to display spoiler: {You feel an immense wave of evil wash over you through your link with the dead soldier. Such that that you need to make a Will save DC25 or suffer emotions of hopelessness and depression for number of minutes under 25 from your roll. The spell took 10 minutes and Myrth says good by, along with any other spells who's length is less than 10 minutes.

Beri circles over group, passing over the wall to get a good look. Unfortunately, bats have Blindsense, not Darkvision, and ghosts don't reflect sounds. But trees and other material objects do and he 'sees' a lot of trees and some benches.

Restlin hops up onto the wall with the aid his friends. Skeletal trees cover the grounds of what looks like a compound of sorts. Walking along the wall is easy enough when his concentration is not disturbed.

Trellus prefers to keep following the tracks. It does seem the group who made them know where they are going and waste no time at the corner.

Katinka does an ever increasing circular scouting pattern as Sesha cast her spell. Flying above the buildings, the notices that they appear to be residences, with couryards and patios as 'backyards'. Some have dead trees. Although nothing flies up to nab her, she knows from Myrth's experience that straying far is not wise.

She says a short prayer to Gargul hoping that will help. No way to truely tell, but hey, worth a try.

Garret keeps a nervous watch at the rear of the group. Their way back is not going to be hard to find, just follow their tracks in the dust, but he carefully memorizes all the twists and turns they made anyway.

Sesha barely manages to shake off the evil influence that gained access to her mind through her Speak with Dead spell and warns the others not to try it either.

Restlin, now close to Sesha, makes sure she's in control of herself, then suggests following the tracks when he sees she is fine.

Or is she fine?

Bosk grasps his holy symbol to cast a spell but before he needs to, Sesha breaks the control attempted by an unknown evil force. He agrees that they should leave the dead to their own devices for the moment. He sees nothing, but surely they are being watched?

Trellus seconds Restlin's motion to continue following the tracks.

DM JT OOC: if we are done with the bodies, we'll move forward according the general consensus...

DM JT IC:
The IA decide to continue following the tracks in the dust, leaving the corner behind. Although the tracks follow close to the wall, the street is 20' wide and they have a choice to stay close to wall, close to the buildings across from the wall, or the middle of the street.

The darkness gives way to their light, but gloomy shadows dance with the cadence of their walk. Where signs and symbols on the buildings where they first came in seemed to indicate a merchant quarter, the signs and symbols on these buildings are different, although not immediately evident of their purpose.

The IA travel a further 100' yards when they reach a large wrought iron gate in the wall. The gate is in two halves and both are wide open. The tracks lead through the gates and along a stone 'path' 10' wide. On each side of the 'path' are the skeletal remains of what used to be a row of bushes. dead trees are scattered out on each side as far as your light shines. The shadows cast by the dead trees create tricks of movement. Or are they really moving?

Edit - re-looking at the description, it says it gains telepathy with them, not that it detects them. I'm unsure how to interpret that. Does a telepathic creature detect acceptable targets in range? And aren't undead immune to telepathy because it's a mind-affect? To the rules board!)

DM JT OOC: to gain a telepathic link, you have to see your target first. Just sensing that a spirit is out there does not enable a link. I could be wrong. For Bosk's ability, after expending a round to get the ability going, you have to spend a Move Action to keep the concentration up. I could be wrong, but I'll need to see the text on what is expended when Concentrating.

Marching order:

The IA momentarily pause as they all hear babbling sounds from both sides of the stone street coming from the woods. They all notice that babbling sounds have an effect on their minds but all shake off whatever effects it would have been. While the IA discuss the situation and what kind of place they are in, Bosk senses the imminent approach of 'spirits', punctuated by arrows that strike at Beri.

From the right side of the path, those in the air, Beri, that is: Highlight to display spoiler: {You see a emaciated corps rise from the treetops 60' away and let loose 4 arrows from a longbow.}

Those on the ground see four arrows targeting Beri:

Att1 vs DC23 = 31, damage = 7 + 4 negative energy + Fort save DC19 vs Paralysis 3 rounds
Att2 vs DC23 = 17
Att3 vs DC23 = 10
Att4 vs DC23 = 15

Meanwhile, four boiling, cloudy, shadowy creatures rush from the trees at the back of the column and attack Sesha and Garret, their constant babbling is a nuisance now but that's all.

Two attack Sesha:
Touch Attack1 vs DC18 = 18, dmg = 2 wisdom damage
Touch Attack2 vs DC18 = 9

Two attack Garret:
Touch Attack1 vs DC34 = 15
Touch Attack2 vs DC34 = 18

Two translucent, ghostly figures speed into view from the trees to the right and slash at Bosk:
Touch Attack1 vs DC16 = 22, dmg = 2 + energy drain 2 levels DC16
Touch Attack2 vs DC16 = 14

Another shadowy figure, gracefully emerges into view with speed of weightlessness and engages Trellus:
Touch Attack1 vs DC13 = 31 (N20), crit roll = 14, confirmed, dmg = 14 Strength

And lastly, three ghostly figures with red pinpoints of light for eyes converge on Katinka. They somehow know where she is despite her invisibility!

Touch Attack1 vs DC16 = 15
Touch Attack2 vs DC16 = 22, dmg = 2 negative energy + 2 Constitution Drain
Touch Attack3 vs DC16 = 12

Finally, all the tension from the time they stepped into the dark, cursed, pyramid-city can be released, as the foes savagely attack the IA.

DM JT weekend update, not the official post:
Some Notes:
1) For those IA members familiar with undead 'spririts', the common knowledge is that they are incorporeal and very hard to see, especially in the dark, behind trees, trying to hide. They fly very well. They can pass through things or stay inside of things (walls, trees, floors, etc.). Bosk knew of their advance but could not 'see' them.

2) For those IA members who are well versed in undead 'spirits', you can look up the Incorporeal detail in the Appendix. Also Energy Drain and Ability Drain. Ability Drain is fairly simple. Energy drain is typically the loss of 1 level of your highest class and 5 hit points and all things related to that class level loss. Sometimes it is more than 1 level. The level loss is temporary within 24 hours. Recovery of levels by magical means recovers all things related to that level loss. If recovery of levels does not occur within 24 hours, the afflicted makes a Fortitude save for each level trying to be recovered. A failed save means the loss of that level is permanent, a successful save means recovery of that level with no ill effects.

3) Details of specific creatures are as Katinka did, roll Knowledge Religion checks.

Katinka:
I missed something. Where it reads +2 Constitution Drain, substitute +2 Constitution Drain if failed
Fort save vs DC17
. SO the Constitution drain is not automatic.

Her Knowledge Religion reveals, Roll order from nearest to farthest from her:
Highlight to display spoiler: {
1) Those attacking her (Knowledge Religion 23): Wraiths

2) The one attacking Bosk (Knowledge Religion 26): Specters

3) Those attacking Trellus (Knowledge Religion 26): Shadow

4) Those attacking Sesha and Garret (Knowledge Religion 31): Allips, their distincive
babbling gave them away.
}

Any questions/concerns, lets take care of them quickly. :)

Monday April 6th, 2015 9:23:42 PM

DM JT Updates:
1) Katinka's Mage Armor noted and I'll review the attacks with the updated AC.

2) Ghost Touch Armor and Weapons: I was aware of the ghost touch weapons affecting incorporeal at full value. I interpret a Touch Attack as the rule states, ignoring armor, even Ghost Touch armor from an incorporeal Touch Attack. However, for now I'll count the full AC of Ghost Touch armor. See Below:

2.1) If the Ghost Touch armor is named as such because it DOES protect against incorporeal Touch Attacks (thus the namesake), great. But does it? DM Board didn't give me any examples on how this was treated in the past, yet.

2.2) Incorporeal attacks ignore Natural Armor, armor, shields, but deflection bonuses and force effects work normally.

So, if you remember, please post your AC vs Incorporeal in your first line of post. No point changing your header.

Recap:
Sesha finds herself trying to fend off two gibbering cloudy, shadowy creatures. She is hit by one suffering 2 points of wisdom damage.

She brandishes her staff, using it to cast Halt Undead on the two on her and one on Garret.
Will Save DC20. The two around her freeze.

DM JT: I forgot it was only three and rolled for all four. No biggy.

Digging deep within herself, the witch searches for aid from Serenbeth and casts Heal on Trellus. This opens her up for possible AoO (Concentration 27).

Garret easily fends off the two gibbering cloudy, shadowy creatures on him and whirls into attack mode. His Ki Strike enables his strikes to hit (I think), but he feels that his power is less than usual. He feels the first one dissipate after four hits, and the second one is still up after his last three hits. It shrugged off Sesha's spell.

Trellus is assaulted by a powerful Shadow. One swipe from that creatures saps 14 points of Strength
from a guy who is not all that bulky. Trellus collapses at -1 Strength, unconscious and dead. His Soul, though, is trapped by the curse of the place and before it can leave the body and explore the insanity of the city, Sesha Heals him, restoring his Strength back to it's 13.

DM JT: Thank the Power of the DM on this one. :)

Restlin watches his new friend flop like a boneless chicken at the mere touch of a Shadow.
"Guess we'll need a new new guy..." he mumbles, then starts summoning a Hound Archon to take Trellus's place.

He seaches the archives in his brain trying to figure out what are their foes:
Religion +15 = 20
DM JT: see Katinka's spoiler posted on Sat, April 4.

Bosk finds himself lucky and well prepared to the attack. His special affiliation with Gargul has given him some advantage the others don't have, his Ghost Touch armor and weapons. This helps a lot even though his Natural Armor is of no use.
New AC to beat = 30.
The two specters on him do not hit after all.

He takes full advantage of the Haste and this Ghost Touch special abilities for being a Grim and, although several of his attacks miss, manages to destory the two Specters attacking him.

Beri: (DM JT: I'm going to presume the d20+13 = 21 is the Paralysis save)

Beri takes Katinka's suggestion to use Sunlight and tries to think how to bring Sunlight into this place. Failing that, he start conjuring up a wall of wind to protect himself and his group from arrows.

But Oh-oh! He starts casting and another of those archer undead, hiding in the treetops 30' away, rises 5' up and fires off a volley of arrows of his own! Will it spoil the Wind Wall?

Att1 vs DC23 = 21
Att2 vs DC23 = 26 dmg = 3 + 1 negative energy + Paralysis (Fort DC19 or paralyzed for 3 rounds)
Att3 vs DC23 = 15

Concentration Check DC= 10 + dmg 8 (3 + 5 loss of level) + 4 (special) + 3 (Spell level) = 25

Katinka:
Updated AC: Touch 16 + Mage Armor = 20, it helps but the results remain the same as the hit was a 22.

Katinka suffers 2 levels drained and feels a little sickly but is still in the fight. She easily maneuvers past the Wraiths and manages to get a Haste spell of to help her friends. That still leaves her in a pretty tight spot!
---------------------------------------------
Will Save DC20:
Allip1 save = 15
Allip2 save = 19
Allip3 save = 20
Allip4 save = 19

DM JT: This concludes Round 1. If I've made all the correct adjustments, then we'll proceed to Round 2.

Beri can go ahead and roll his Concentration Check and Paralysis Save.

Gated Compound Round 2:

DM JT Note: we'll get synced up on Round 3.

The Iron adventurers have suffered some from negative energy and ability attacks but have meted out some damage of their own. The Undead, those that can, continue to seek the life force of the Living with unequaled hatred!

Katinka, having scooted up 20' to get away from the wraiths so she can cast her Haste spell finds herself surrounded by them again. They seem to have an uncanny way to know where she is. Two Wraiths flank her and one is below her.

Incorporeal Touch:
Wraith1 DC20 = 23 dmg = 6 negative energy + 5 Con drain (Fort DC17)
Wraith2 DC20 = 12
Wraith3 DC20 = 14

Beri:
The Mighty Beriothian feels the gods against him as he is caught by surprise from behind with another nasty, evil bone arrow that spoils his Wind Wall and paralyses him for 3 rounds.

Bosk was free of foes for a moment but the emaciated archer sees the minotaur free and lets loose a volley of bony arrows.

Att1 vs DC34 = 34 dmg = 7 + 5 negative energy + Paralysis (Fort DC19 or paralyzed for 1 rounds)
Att2 vs DC34 = 27
Att3 vs DC34 = 19

Trellus still faces the Shadow that knocked him down a moment ago and it swipes again.

DM JT Note: Trellus is prone. Just an FYI.

Sesha: the two foes on Sesha have been held.

Garret; One foe on Garret made its save from being held and tries to hit Garret:

Restlin continues to summon in some help, which will arrive at the beginning of his turn.

DM JT Note: Ok, on Negative Energy and Energy Drain.

Negative Energy is not level drain. It is the effects such as with Inflict spells. It is simply damage, like when hit by a Cause Light Wounds type of spell.

Energy Drain is level loss. See the description under Universal Monster Rules.

In our combat, the Flying Archers and Wraiths cause Negative Energy. The Specters cause Energy Drain.

I believe Bosk was the Specter target and they are destroyed now.

Bosk quickly surveys the area and watches as Tink encloses herself in a resilient sphere. That will keep her safe for the moment. The blond taur then looks to the south and feels Restlin embuing him with unnatural luck. Between that and Tink's gift of haste the cleric feels like an undead hunting machine.

Suddenly he calls out, "Every life hangs by a thread, I am that thread!"

Immediately he lays into the shadow south of him, his ghost touch enhanced sword, horn and armor spike tearing into it. He then moves on to the Allips south of that. (I can only reach the first Allip, not the second. If I still have part of the full attack left once they are dead, can I hold them in case the wraiths attacking Tinks move towards Beri and come in my reach?).

Gated Compound Second Half of Round 2, The IA's turn:

The IA continue to strugle against their Undead foes. It is a toss up as to who is winning, several Undead are dead again but Beri is paralyzed.

Passing through immobile Allips, Garret gets behind them and lets loose. Although attacking them breaks Sesha's Halt Undead spell, will any survive his flurry of furry feet?

His attacks finish off the one he hurt earlier and one other one, but one is still left, slightly hurt and now free to attack.

Sesha channels a dark pulse of magic which leaves the living unaffected, expending 500gp worth of diamond dust (please subtract this from your PC sheet).

The spell affects the Undead in a 40' radius circle. Two Wraiths are snuffed out. The Shadow and the Undead Archer at the edge of the spell effect are unaffected.

Will DC23:
Allip = 23
Wraith 1 = 25
Wraith 2 = 9
Wraith 3 = 7

Trellus, seeing that the Shadow is still hovering over him tries to stand up and go into Total Defense. However, standing up in itself provokes an AoO, but he barely manages to avoid the deadly swipe.

DM JT Note: Stand up from prone is Move action, Total Defense is a Standard Action and the bonus to AC does not apply until fully standing, after the AoO.

Shadow AoO = 17

Beri remains floating in the air, no wind here to push him to or fro.
Paralysis 2 rounds left.

Restlin's Hound Archon pops in and is directed to attack Tink's foes if still there or next closest one.

He then confers a 'bit o luck' on Bosk (D20s rolled twice and best result used, for 1 round).

The Hound Archon goes to Tink's aid. Reaching it, the archon swings it's mighty sword:
MW Greatsword +9 = 12 miss

However, the Archon's Aura tries to affect the Wraith:
Aura of Menace Will DC16 = 19

The Wraith is unaffected by the Aura, but the Magic Circle Against Evil 10' rad. is bound to help (+2 deflection Bonus to AC and +2 resistance bonus on saves).

BOsk calls out "Every life hangs by a thread, I am that thread!" and sets his aim on the Shadow attacking Trellus. His first strike misses and his 2nd off hand misses, the others hit. This is enough to finish it off.

katinka sees her plight very grim with a Wraith still attacking her and decides to encase herself in a Resilient Sphere.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start of Round 3, the enemies' turn:

The Allip on Sesha tries to so suck more Wisdom out of her:
Incorporeal Touch DC18 = 18 dmg = 2 Wis drain, Will DC15 to negate.

DM JT: I may have missed the Will save last time. Go check and roll if needed.

The Wraith on Tink knows no fear of the Archon and now unable to affect Katinka, sets his aim on it.

Incorporeal Touch DC12 (bonus included) = 24, dmg = 6 negative energy + 4 Con drain (Fort DC17)

Fort save DC17 = 15 +2 bonus = 17, barely!

The two Undead Archers, bony, emaciated corps not too unlike zombies but that fly and use bows with deadly accuracy, continue their attacks.

Seeing a hated outsider, the one to the left sends his volley of arrows at the Archon:

Arrow 1 DC19 = 27
Arrow 2 DC19 = 28
Arrow 3 DC19 = 20
Arrow 4 DC19 = 23
Damage = 33 + 12 negative energy + Paralysis Fort DC19 = 15 + 2 bonus = 17 failed.

The Archon is at 0hp and 12 negative energy and is paralyzed.

The farther one, on the right, targets Bosk again:

Arrow 1 DC34 = 25
Arrow 2 DC34 = 23
Arrow 3 DC34 = 18

It pays to have good AC.

Things start looking up for the IA, but alas...

Beri hovers, still helpless to do anything to assist his friends. Bosk seems to be tearing up a storm below him, hopefully they can deal with him being out for a little longer.

Tink allows herself to breathe freely, now she is safely encased in the Resilient Sphere.

Fortunately she still has a good view of the surrounds Perception: 46

DM JT: some quick notes:

Thanks for the Ghost Weapon info for the Sneak Attack question.

While my brain was getting numbed at work, I had an epiphany. I had wondered if Negative Energy needed some special healing and search all over for all things related to Negative Energy when it suddenly hit me.

The most common Energy forms we deal with is Fire, Ice, Electricity, and Acid. However Sonic energy is somewhat common and then, of course, Negative Energy.

Whereas a Flaming Sword will do cutting damage, it will also do fire damage. So a Shadow Sword would do cutting damage and negative energy damage.

If you cast Resist Energy, you can choose Negative instead of the common Fire or Ice.

I can finally sleep well tonight. :)

ooc: Sorry for the short post. I am busy due to graduation tomorrow.

Looking around Bosk sees no foes in range, so he casts fly on himself and then flies directly over Beri so that he may defend him and Tink.

Sorry to wake you, but the spell is really specific.

"This abjuration grants a creature limited protection from damage of whichever one of five energy types you select: acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. "

Negative energy harms living creatures and heals undead, just the opposite of positive energy.

It's like each wraith punch does a tiny little channel negative energy on impact.

DM JT: LOL. Correct. I didn't look up the Resist Energy spell. But the resulting conclusion is the same - it heals just like any other damage. :)
