Rillet remembers a question to ask, after the Jack of Diamonds has left. Don't you hate when that happens?
Magana doesn't care for the demeanor off the man, but she cannot argue with his idea to talk to the harbormaster.
Zeoll is in agreement to chat with the harbormaster.
Terser brings up the idea of using divination on the body of Terza.
Jozhur shares of his encounter with the captains and the guards in the inn.
Aexana commends Jozhur for his actions at the inn, and tells the rest of the group she doesn't recall Terza. In actuality, Aexana met Terza at the inn in Gullport.
Coerator wants to find some way to find Terza's body from the depths.

The walk down to the docks is full of what the party would expect. People pointing, and talking in hushed whispes, but no one making an open attack on them.
Once the office of the harbormaster is in view, the group can see the door is wide open letting a nice, cool sea breeze into the room.
The Harbormaster sits at his desk. Papers are neatly organised atop it, and balancing precariously on one pile is a half-empty bottle of rum.
Without even looking up he blurts out... "Let's see... the last time the Lionfish was in dock you disobeyed a curfew order from me to stay aboard your vessel, you fought on MY docks, denied us justice in regards to the capture and interrogation of Captian Annoir, and now I hear you're courting the Shipping Guild" The harbormaster folds his arms and sighs as he leans back in his chair "Are you lot trying to get on my bad side? Tell me, what is it that the Shipping Guild want with you? Are they looking for you to send Ga'al to their cause?"

Zeoll goes through the entire break down of what transpired at the guild hall to the harbormaster, who he recalls is named Linus Icahn. The harbormaster seems to be into the story, and Zeoll has his attention.
Magana stays back, keeping an eye out on the docks. No one looks to setting an ambush, and the men loyal to the harbormaster seem to have the docks cleared of any shipping guild members.

Rillet feels a bit funny, and not as wise. (-2 wis, need another fort save). He calls to Jozhur and Terser and dimension doors towards the archers. Terser takes him up on the offer, but Jozhur is busy at the moment. Once Terser and Rillet settle down they both here something break under their feet but nothing else happens.
Terser is a bit disoriented but manages to strike twice wounding the archer both times. ----------------- Those outside see it for what it is. The two archers arent alone and have friends. Other archers on both sides are stationed on docked boats. Three archers on the boat to the north and three to the south.
The two archers on the docks open fire on Rillet and Terser. As if the short distance doesn't bother them. Three arrows peg into Terser(19 dmg, need 3 DC 13 Fort Saves).
Two of the archers send flaming arrows into the walls of the harbormasters building. One on the north wall, one on the south.
The two remaining archers on the north ship split their attacks one on Rillet and one on Coerator. Two arrows hit Rillet(12 dmg, 2 x Dc 13 Fort save.)
The other three arrows miss Coer.
Similar, the two remaining archers split their attacks on Terser and Magana. All three miss Terser but Magana gets two more for good measure. (12 dmg, 2 more saves vs Dc 13 Fort).
-------------- Hashamon heard the rumors of the shipping guild putting up the blockade to prevent ships leaving, but his wonderment lead him down to the docks to see for himself.
The blockade was as he thought it would be but the sounds of battle drew his attention elsewhere. From his vantage point he sees two men behind boxes, their backs to him. Firing arrows at two other men. Bwhind them a male and female minotaur exit a building and both are pelted with arrows from the sides of ships docked. The two men in front of him are 80' away with their backs to him.

Zeoll stands from prone and hucks a tanglefoot bag at one of the archers -- the archer at T7 looks to be about 50 ft away. A tanglefoot bag has a range increment of 10 ft. At 5 or 10 ft, there is no penalty to throw it. At 20 ft, -2; at 30 ft, -4, at 40 ft, -6, and at 50 ft, -8. So Zeoll has a +20 for the true strike and a -8 for range, or a +12 overall.
His BAB is +4, his dex is +2, and he has a -1 size mod. Using his tower shield gives him an extra -2. That puts him at a total +15 to make his ranged touch attack. He rolls vs touch AC28 and entangles the archer!
An entangled creature takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls and a -4 penalty to Dexterity and must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be glued to the floor, unable to move. Even on a successful save, it can move only at half speed.
The liontaur swishes his tail in angry pleasure. He takes a five ft step south, eyeing the other archer.
Full-round attack is Flail (+11/+6 for 2d8+7) plus Horn (+5 for 1d8+4). Cleave?

"Arrgh! Aex - we need cover for Magana, not the Harbormaster's house! She won't last much longer against these archers!"
Rillett also make a spellcraft roll to identify the spell the seahawk cast - Warp Wood! However, he's not sure what's being warped. Rillett loses sight of the seahawk as the mist rises. That's probably an enemy druid, and he summoned those snakes. Terrific.
Rillett will cast Cure Critical Wounds and will run over and touch Magana, healing her for 17 points.

The spell will last for one minute per level, or six minutes.
Zeoll grins and asks politely in sylvan, "Frriend fey, each rround please shoot or enspell my enemies, then fly invisibly to another space so that you will stay safe!"
[OOC: I suggest that this round it use its permanent illusion to either make a threatening monster or a wall or cloud surrounding enemies. Other options include arrows for damage or sleep arrows. Note that the pixie has constant invisibility, so it gets a +2 to hit for being unseen in addition to its base +8 to hit, and targets lose their dex bonus to AC.]

[OOC: Am I missing my pixie friend? Is it on the map?]
Zeoll finishes his Summon Fey Friend 1 spell, spontaneously casting to replace a bane spell. When he is done, the fey that answers the call is ... [rolling a d12] ... a brownie.
The brownie is one step removed from Zeoll in alignment, so the spell duration is two rounds per level, and he should do as Zeoll suggests. Zeoll summons him into space N15 (within the 40 ft range) and asks him to attack his enemies, starting with Archer 2.
[OOC: Note that brownies get improved initiative as a default feat, but the Wold does not use that. May I suggest Lunge or Toughness?]
Zeoll himself rushes to PQ-14-15 and uses aid another to wake Jozhur. "Come on, my frriend," he says loudly as he shakes the fellow. "No time forr a snooze!"

DM Sanity:
4 Rounds of Frightened Condition Remain
Beast Shape IV: This spell functions as beast shape III except that it also allows you to assume the form of a Tiny or Large creature of the magical beast type. If the form you assume has any of the following abilities, you gain the listed ability: burrow 60 feet, climb 90 feet, fly 120 feet (good maneuverability), swim 120 feet, blindsense 60 feet, darkvision 90 feet, low-light vision, scent, tremorsense 60 feet, breath weapon, constrict, ferocity, grab, jet, poison, pounce, rake, rend, roar, spikes, trample, trip, and web. If the creature has immunity or resistance to any elements, you gain resistance 20 to those elements. If the creature has vulnerability to an element, you gain that vulnerability.
Large magical beast: If the form you take is that of a Large magical beast, you gain a +6 size bonus to your Strength, a -2 penalty on your Dexterity, a +2 size bonus to your Constitution, and a +6 natural armor bonus.
Frightened Condition: A frightened creature flees from the source of its fear as best it can. If unable to flee, it may fight. A frightened creature takes a --2 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. A frightened creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.
Frightened is like shaken, except that the creature must flee if possible. Panicked is a more extreme state of fear.
Paralyzed Condition: A paralyzed character is frozen in place and unable to move or act. A paralyzed character has effective Dexterity and Strength scores of 0 and is helpless, but can take purely mental actions. A winged creature flying in the air at the time that it becomes paralyzed cannot flap its wings and falls. A paralyzed swimmer can't swim and may drown. A creature can move through a space occupied by a paralyzed creature--ally or not. Each square occupied by a paralyzed creature, however, counts as 2 squares to move through.
Deafend Condition: A deafened character cannot hear. He takes a --4 penalty on initiative checks, automatically fails Perception checks based on sound, takes a --4 penalty on opposed Perception checks, and has a 20% chance of spell failure when casting spells with verbal components. Characters who remain deafened for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.

Rillett is impressed with Zeoll's offer of mercy, though he feels no compassion towards these archers. He certainly won't kill a sleeping or helpless person, but he offered them a chance when this began and they passed. He feels no sorrow for any of them that meet Gargul today.

Hashamon smacks the wounded man, who drops in an unconscence heap. He then flies back in front of Coer and Terser, wrangling them in like sheep. Eventually the fear wears off, and the men are ok again.
Aexana keeps her lightning spell ready incase she needs it. She motions to Magana about the burning ship.

Rillet gets a big wad of spit thrown his way to answer his question. " Ask your god who sends him souls. Not you fools, but us. Plus.. the elfbloods sent us, wanted to send a message." Rillet can tell the elfbloods didn't send them, but they probably have sent more people to talk to Gargul then the group.
As for the harbormaster, he looks thrilled the fight is over. The flames on his building are out.
Aexana beats herself up a bit about the fire.
Magana easily gets enough people to help with the fire. The boat is damged, but repairable. "Who is responsible for this" Winston asks everyone on the docks.
" those.men there, " the harbormaster says as he points to the archers. " the group defended us from them."
The brownie nods to Zeoll, casting its detect thought spell.
The pixie flutters around before answering. " I detect a presence of Law, but Evil as well."
One of the other men looks to not be as aggresive when Zeoll is talking. he looks back and forth between the others to Zeoll. " The shipping guild? You have a bounty on your head. "

This is a rough place, but it is home for me. Please do not judge us too harshly. While there are bad people here, there are many good folk here too."
"Most recently, a terrible thing has happened. Foreigners have come to this place and seek to substitute their will for legitimate self-rule. This we cannot stand. You are new here, and you may leave if you wish. However, your willingness to help us shows us your heart. Your skills in battle and magic suggest you are most capable in a fight. Will you stand with us against this invader? Will you help Bonetown in it's hour of need? Will you help us throw off the tyranny of the Shipping Guild?"
"Also, these guys cook some pretty good bacon."

Hashamon considers his fortune...then answers in Taur.
"I intervened because I saw my first Taur in 8 years, and she was stuck full of arrows. Now it seems I've made an enemy..."
His pause is a short one.
"I will travel with you, if you will accept one who is still searching to understand the why of the Wold. If I had any doubts, the sigils of the great King and Queen in the woods has put them at ease, Zeoll. It was the fey folk who teased me forth from my grove, equipped me thus with gifts, and bade me seek to understand the civilized Wold in that it would make me a better protector of that which is not."
He snorts the words "civil" with obvious derision.
"I've yet to see any animal or beast as cruel as those which live in these cities. Yet my oath to the dead and my gods has kept me in them for a short time now. It will be good to see perhaps some good come of those in my company rather than misery."
He reaches tenderly for Aexana, rubbing a spot right above the beak of the Thrush.
"I am like your Aexana, but not. My magic could not hope to achieve burning flame or striking skies, it strictly is limited to the power of change. Perhaps she can teach me more in time. My power lies in shifting, the ability to adopt a form like your Thrush here, but other, more distant beasts as well. Giants, Monsters, and some things better left for the utmost of emergency. I pledge my aid, tooth and claw, to protect your pack from the predators which hunt you."
He pauses a moment, then adds.
"Though I do not care either way about the governance of this city."

Magana merely nods and grunts a short 'Welcome' in Tauric to Hashamon. No need for words when the more loquacious members of the party have stepped up. She does, however, give a quiet 'Thanks' and a gentle fist-bump to Aex and Rillet for their timely healing.
Once the introductions are completed she says, "These attacks are coming too swiftly. If we do not find a safe place to rest for the night, I fear we will not survive to see the dawn."

Aex-Thrush is perplexed at the suicide-archers. How fanatical are these folks?! She likes the Taur Druid. After all, she did travel to the taur islands hoping to learn if Taurs are considered humanoids or animals. In times, when her companions turn to mindless killing machines she again questions herself... but when calm returns she's grown to like these creatures. Now, it turns out there are some who mastered the druidic skills also!!

The harbormaster walks over and speaks to the man Winston, before heading back to the group. "He's mad, but he understands it wasn't your fault. I gave him a couple months free docking, and he is fine with it. Now back to the issue at hand, we are still on for tommorow morning. The attack has strengthened his resolve however. He will fight. The shipping guild has always been questionable and justice would eventually been served... He just was not expecting it would be he who dealt it.
He returns to the lionfish with his friends in silence, mentally preparing himself for the upcoming raid.
DM Rob - Back on the 'Fish Monday June 1st, 2015 12:05:29 AM
One by one the group make their way back to the Lionfish. Along the way, the party pass small groups of the Harbormasters' guards. The sneers they gave the party earlier are now replaced with a slight nod of the head. It's a small gesture, but a telling one. You are allies now, and the next day will show just how much.
This is the first time Rillett and Hashamon have seen the mighty Lionfish, and she is impressive.
Per Coer's earlier orders, much of the crew are enjoying some much deserved shore leave. With Tula not to be found anywhere aboard, Tommy has been left in charge. The half-orc is perched by the ships wheel, and currently sports a black eye. A wide grin covers his face as he rubs the knuckles on his right hand, and you can just tell he has enjoyed this stay in Bonetown.
The only other crew member in sight is Pinny, though he is currently perched high in the rigging above and is just staring out at the open waters.
Aexana hands out the potions she has freshly brewed, and then tries to start thinking of what spells she should prepare for the next day. Perhaps she can burn down another ship (hopefully not one belonging to an innocent bystander this time). Though the pendulum does swing both ways. Would a vessel of the Shipping Guild - an organisation built solely for the purpose of trading and sailing the seas - be prepared for such magicks? Would they be prepared to use similar tactics in return? And would she be prepared to sink a ship with possibly hundreds of sailors aboard? Do they all deserve to die?
Coer contemplates the actions of the assassins. The Shipping Guild is like any other organisation, they employ sailors to do a job. Could any employee be so devoted as to take their own life for the organisation? No, in all likelihood it would take someone far more zealous. Perhaps hired hitmen?
Magana gives Tommy an update on what to expect tomorrow. "If their ships are as soft as their skulls, we should have no troubles" Tommy smiles looking at some blood that currently stains his knuckles "Just make sure the goblin stays out of my way". No doubt a reference to Horace.
The mood on the docks is quite tense tonight. Every ship that is docked knows there will be a battle tomorrow, and the element of surpirse will be necessary if they are to triumph. To that end, you can see people trying to go about their business as usual, but keen eyes can see weapons being sharpened and prepared.
Magana warns the crew to be on the lookout tonight, and as if on cue, there is a short, sharp whistle from Pinny above.
It appears two men have caught his eye. They are walking the docks and stopping to look at each vessel. Talking or whispering to each other, pointing at the ship, and then moving on to the next one.
They eventually come to the Lionfish. The pair look humanoid, but are quite tall and solidly built. Both are cloaked and have their hoods raised, so it is hard to make out any features. Threaded into the shirt of one of the men Terser recognises the holy symbol of Domi.

Standing 5 foot 9 inches tall, his common traveler's clothes and cloak is easily overlooked by the smile that plays around the easy-going mouth. There is something about him that is familiar, not like anyone has ever seen him, but that his description is part of many a story. "Hey, what's the word?" he calls out with a friendly grin to the ship.
He turns to his companion. "This is the one we were looking for, Ve, the Lionfish, eh?"
He turns back to the Lionfish. "Hey! Permission to come aboard and all that stuff! You ARE the heroes who have been working this area, eh? I'm Jass. Jass of Downs. You know, with the Dragon Consortium?"

He is glad to cast Detect Magic and Guidance and look at the magic bracers and any other unidentified loot.

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 51 of 51) Monday June 1st, 2015 7:30:03 AM
Zeoll blinks. He knows that man! Ve Mundr! He springs forward, about to embrace him. Then he pauses, unsure.
"Do you rrememberr me, Ve? We sharred a drream many yearrs ago. A drream, orr morre like a nightmarre, in the land of Kosh Marrr, wherre we fought werrewolves and giants to save a human. It did not end exactly well? My memorries arre not what they werre."
The old liontaur pauses and wipes his eyes. "Orr maybe I just drreamed of you, sirr? Have we met, orr was it just a vision of my own aged brrain? I know we taurrs age fast, but you do not even look any older!"
The grey-maned fellow turns to Jass, and recognition sparks in his eyes, behind his new specs. "And you, sirr, I know I met, at a Yule parrty at the Giggling Ghost, when I serrved with the Irron Adventurrerrs. We talked about ourr old common frriend, Captain Brrahmah, of tattoo fame, perrhaps the best of those of us Chosen by Domi so long long ago."
Zeoll bows. "What brrings you two fine fellows so farr frrom home, on the eve of a fight. Gods know we could use such able herroes in ourr battle."
When Zeoll hears the words "Dragon Consortium," several emotions wash over his open face. Surprise, for who knew the Consortium was interested in the affairs of such a backwater as Bonetown. Pure pleasure at meeting again these adventurers he knew in the past. And underneath, maybe a bit of melancholy -- he realizes that these heroes have reached the height of achievement, membership in the Dragon Consortium, while he, old Zeoll, has been left behind by the passage of years, for time and chance has happened to us all.
After a pause, the liontaur dressed in colorful oranges, reds, and yellows turns and welcomes these two notables to the ship. He introduces them to his friends on the crew. And he explains to those who do not understand that the Dragon Consortium is the premier order of heroes the Wold has ever seen.

( Sorry!, I posted Hash to sleep before the day was over! )
Watching the approaching strangers with interest, Hash doesn't feel the urge to leap down and defend. He had only been with these fellows for a few hours, and yet to feel like there was anything here he had a claim to than his life.
Still, the Liontaur was worked up, and old Zeoll was interesting to him. It wasn't often that both a Liontaur and a Minotaur offered worship to the same gods not named Domi or Imod.
Gliding down from the crows next, Hashamon perches a little closer to the meeting, and lets out a pointed "hoot" to Zeoll before ruffling his auburn feathers and settling in to listen as to why they have been approached.
(Hey guys, I had to undergo a bit of surgery, as I had a charisma score of seven. In this moment, it was discovered I was missing a couple skill points. What I thought would be an interesting point, Hash not speaking common, was quickly discovered to be a pain in the butt. So Hash knows it, and please pretend he always has. Thanks!)

Olive skinned, dark hair and eyes, standing at 6' and weighing about 200. Slightly large and single crooked nose, he wears a well fitted tan linen shirt, black cotton wool blended pants with brown leather boots and wide brimmed black hat. Symbol of Domi is threaded into his shirt and his holy symbol, plainly visible as a copper and gold medallion on a steel chain about his neck.
The man wears a slightly more serious countenance than the amicable grin of his companion and a slight grimace crosses his face when the other calls out what group they represent. "That is low key?" he asks casually and light hearted.
Ve holds up a hand to stop Zeoll from engulfing him in an embrace. He does confirm the dream that Zeoll mentions. "Koshe Marr and what befell there are things not easily forgotten. Yes, Zeoll, I remember you."
As Zeoll welcomes them aboard, the olive skinned man in his mid thirties perhaps, introduces himself. "I am Ve Mundr of Domi. Thank you for welcoming us aboard. We were in the area and thought a visit was warranted."

This has been a rough day for Rillett. The fact that Zeoll knows these men and is pleased at their visit is a relief.

"Friends of Zeoll are friends of mine. Welcome aboard"
Coer greets the newcomers and directs them below deck. A bottle of rum is found and mugs poured for the guests as they settle.
DM Rob - Friends of Zeoll are friends of mine. Welcome aboard Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 12:36:52 AM Jozhur is suspicious and keeps an eye on the pair from the shadows. Could it be more assassins? Could it be Shipping Guild spies, inspecting each ship for a weakness? It just feels like everyone in Bonetown has an agenda.
Tommy's hand immediately goes to his sword. His muscles tense as he prepares for a fight. Pinny remains high in the rigging.
It is Zeoll who first recognises the pair on the docks as friendly. Jass of Downs and Ve Mundr - two members of the fabled Dragon Consortium! In the flesh and asking permission to come aboard the Lionfish. Looking at the two of them, you could be forgiven for thinking they were but simple travellers. Perhaps with all their fame, they prefer to move through towns in a low key.
Hashamon - in owl form - soars down from the higher ropes of the ships mast to listen in on the proceedings. He isn't prepared to take his natural form just yet.
Rillet is visibly releived that Zeoll knows the two men. It has been a long and surprising day. Fortunately this is a pleasant surprise. Rillet is hopeful that the presence of the pair might be fortuitous. Two members of the Dragon Consortium? Why, surely they could end this blockade with very little effort on their part? Who knows, maybe more members are lurking nearby?
Terser too, is relieved that someone can vouch for the pair. Though his own path with Domi has been difficult and challenging, the dwarf has the utmost respect for one who can follow the God's teachings.
Ve gives a light-hearted smile to Jass. So much for going in-cognito! He confidently steps aboard the Lionfish and begins the formal introductions, not quite ready to embrace anyone.
Jass - who looks like an emaciated human cadaver with an easy-going smile on his face - is a little more relaxed. They are here to talk further, but the docks have ears. Whatever they want to talk about is not something they wish to discuss in the open.
Captain Coer is more than happy to escort them below deck. Like any good ship, rum is always at hand and the taur is happy to pour a few mugs.
Below deck, the ship is quiet. The Lionfish rocks and bobs ever so slightly with the sea - something the party and crew are completely used to. Having spent much time on the sea, Coer knows not to fill the mugs with so much rum that it might spill over the side.
And so around the table in the galley, with an oil lamp burning in the centre, the crew of the Lionfish sit with members of the Dragon Consortium.

With a lazy stretch, he pads into the room and curls up into a ball to listen, keeping his large eyes focused on the heroes from the consortium. Well mostly. He couldn't help but focus a small bit of his attention on defending the meeting from the intrusions of any tasty mice.
Ve Mundr (Dan K) Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 11:16:05 AM
Ve smiles and walks aboard. Looking to Rillet specifically he answers, "Happenstance brings us in Bonetown's hour of need, though with the likes of you and your gallant friends, I have every confidence that need is already met in full measure." To those on deck in general he states observantly, "It looks like it has been a long day and so hopefully we can bring some ease this evening for a time."
Ve heads below deck, led by Coerator
Ve sits, near ram rod straight in the chair offered, shoulders squared to the table. It seems even the mild rocking of the boat does not cause him to lose his posture and yet he seems completely relaxed and at ease. Looking about the table, he offers a wide smile.
Ve accepts the drink, stands and proposes a toast, "To the heroes of Bonetown." he pauses for a moment as he stands with drink held out over the table. "For make no mistake here, that is what you truly are. May your courage be ever present within battle and without. Where courage is needed most." Aexana greets the newcomers. The tale about the Dragon Consortium sounds pretty grand and it makes her wonder what tiny old lass could do to proove worthy in front of such...
The prospect of the coming battle has brought a sombre mood over Aexana. People will die... good folks... folks with family... Why wasn't there any other way to avoiding this...

Rillett (Bradley) HP 69/69 - AC 22/12/20 CMD 19 Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 4:18:23 PM
Rillett will smile at Ve, and he will raise a glass too.
"Just as I believe that the Wold is what we make of it and reject that our fate is a foregone conclusion, so too do I reject happenstance. Our lives are neither set in stone, nor a random series events. Powerful forces are at work in the lives of these Heros of Bonetown, both helping and opposing them. I hope to be worthy of them and the events that are about to unfold."
"We are men of faith, you and I. Even though I only met them this morning, it is Gargul that prepared me for this and directed my path to this place. Surely, you do not think that Domi had nothing to do with your arrival at this place and time. What we do now that we are here is up to us. The question before us is, 'are we prepared for the consequences of our actions or out inactions?' That is a weighty question.
"It is written, 'only fools and children reject the wisdom of experience.' Your skill and knowledge exceed my own. If we accept that you are here for a reason, then surely you have information or advice that can help us. Share with us what brought you here, and perhaps we can divine why."
Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 51 of 51) Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 4:20:29 PM
His old comrade in arms, Ve offers a toast: "To the heroes of Bonetown. For make no mistake here, that is what you truly are."
Zeoll is willing to drink to that, although privately he has some reservations ...
OOC: Here are Zeoll's private thoughts, which any player is most welcome to read, but which he would never share with even the best of his friends on board the ship here. Maybe he could have shared his thoughts with his old friend Ashira, who learned the hard way about failure when she was heart-seeded against her will and forced to love Ga'al. But to those present he would not open up.
Highlight to display spoiler: {Zeoll thinks of himself as a friend to heroes, maybe as a singer and student of heroes, and no hero himself. A true hero would not have abandoned Domi's quest, and turned away from the god who created the taurs. A true hero would not have fled the Year of Ascension, enjoying his soujourn in the Lands of Rest while friends became undead and gods died. A true hero would not hide behind fey trickery and tower shield, seeking to bend minds.
But Zeoll is at peace with who he truly is, and maybe that's how he can serve best, aware of his failings, not moaning about them, just keeping on keeping on.}
He raises his glass and offers his own words: "To heroes everywhere, may they always follow their hearts!"
After drinks and smalltalk, Zeoll looks at Ve and Jass. "Now, if it is happenstance that you have arrrived on the eve of battle, then please do tell us what brrings you to us this evening?"
Rillett (Bradley) HP 69/69 - AC 22/12/20 CMD 19 d20+14=22 ; Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 4:42:45 PM
Rillett senses some regret in the bespectacled liontaur's words (sense motive 22), and looks his direction misunderstanding the reason for his apprehension.
"Tomorrow will be a glorious triumph or a spectacular death!"
(Given their world view, Clerics of Gargul are often not the inspiration they think they are.)
Terser (Warren G) [22/13/19 -- CMD 24 -- HP 92/95] (25% chance no crit, uncanny dodge) Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 5:27:51 PM
Terser is impressed with the amount of Rum that everyone on board can put away. It's not often that you see it portioned in mugs. It makes it feel like home.
He toasts with the others, prepared for a battle to save the town, and waits to hear whattheir honoured guests would say.
(Brock) Jozhur AC21/16/15--CMD 24--HP46/57 1 Temp Constitution damage, +4 Temp Charisma Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 9:01:43 PM
Jozhur quietly greets Jass and Ve, he's not his usual upbeat self. The constant fighting is taking its toll on him. He sips his rum and listens to the conversations. He's happy ol' Zeoll has been reunited with some old friends.
"We will take some more lives tomorrow, just pray we all see the end of the day and maybe we will see peace for some time after."
Jass (SteveK) Tuesday June 2nd, 2015 10:49:46 PM
Jass takes a mug and raises it in salute, but takes no more than a cursory taste of the strong drink. Talk about Gargul makes him wince as if from an old wound. "The Grey Lord is something else, isn't he? Helped me get to understanding that my undead bloodline wasn't a curse as I thought. With good friends I could count on and a good cause, it became an opportunity to clean up a nasty group of liches!"
He does have a little advice for the current situation, but maybe not what the heroes are looking for. "For what's going on here with the merchants guild, I'm sure you will all find a solution to do the right thing, eh? Sometimes that means fighting and sometimes it means talking out a solution, as long as the winners are the regular people who couldn't otherwise protect themselves, right?"
The emaciated man has to shake his head. "We can't stay, not even for the night. Just finished getting a little info here that will really help with a problem over in the Blasted Lands. You see, the Dragon Consortium fixes the BIG problems that could overwhelm whole kingdoms. And we are very happy that there are heroes on the local level that can protect innocents at a more personal level. Yep. Very happy. Always good to footnote the report with the up-and-coming local talent!"
DM Rob - "Tomorrow will be a glorious triumph or a spectacular death!" Wednesday June 3rd, 2015 12:29:27 AM Magana takes a position by the doorway. She's more comfortable around a battlefield than around a table. Out of the corner of her eye though, she spots movement. Justier - the cabin boy - is hiding around the other side of the doorway, peeking around the corner. When he sees Magana he gets a fearful look on his face "I just wanted to see the heroes! Honest!" he whispers.
Hashamon shifts into a large cat form, and curls up in a ball. If he has any hopes of catching a rat or two aboard the Lionfish, he is going to have to contend with Horace, the ships goblin and carpenter's aide. Horace has made sure that any rats (not to mention the few cats he has found over the years) end up in a pot.
Ve is the first to stand and offers a toast to the heroes of Bonetown. The rum may not be the finest he has ever tasted, but in the pirate haven that is Bonetown, they sure know how to give it that little extra kick.
Aex is distracted by the prospects of the battle to come. Yes, people will die. Good people most likely. All she can do is hope that she has the wisdom to tell the good from the bad.
Jozhur finds it better to focus on the destination rather than the journey. He expects there will be lives lost tomorrow, but if they live to see the end of the day perhaps peace will follow?
Rillet gives a mighty toast in response to Ve's gesture. And though Ve believes the heroes of Bonetown are up to any challenge, Rillet hopes that the guests will be able to give them insight or perhaps assistance that can help the group.
Zeoll too, is curious why the Dragon Consortium should be here. Of all nights, the eve of what might be Bonetown's greatest battle.
For the first time in a long time, Terser starts to feel at home. The Scab is far away from here and its cold, stony mountains are quickly becoming but a memory. Were dwarves meant to sail the sea? Well, as long as the drinks are as good as this he could accomodate it.
Jass seeks to lighten the mood, as is his way. The advice he offers may not be the advice the party were seeking, but to be noted as a hero by a Dragon Consortium member can only be a good thing.
But how will the party be known in Jass' footnotes? "The Bonetown Heroes"? "The Crew of the Lionfish"? Perhaps sitting around the table, right now, the group could determine how they will be known. A name that evil will fear. A name that will inspire hope to those who have none. (OOC: In laymans terms: any ideas on a party name guys?)
=========================== OOC: In terms of IDing items, I'm going to assume some Aid Another checks, some Guidance & Detect Magic castings, and some Take 10s. So...

The rest is non-magical and "normal".
Since you know there is going to be a battle soon, perhaps you want to divide up the loot and do some Catacombs shopping?
Magana (Craig) [HP 81 of 92] [DR 1/-] Wednesday June 3rd, 2015 2:01:19 AM
Magana is a bit puzzled as to why Justier would be afraid of her. "Why don't you fetch them another bottle of rum, lad? I'm sure they would welcome *you* as a hero for your actions!" She gives him a broad wink in encouragement.

Hashamon watches the men for awhile longer, considering the words of the heroes. They seemed to ring true, and a part of him hoped that more of the races he encountered in the Wold would have that mentality, that the kill was not the only thing.
Then of course, that did little for tomorrow. If his new pack sought the hunt, hunt he would. If they sought peace, peace is what he would protect.
He wasn't sure what Rillet meant by Catacombs, but he didn't need anything. The Fey had given him all he needed before he left his grove. After the two guests leave, Hash will prowl the ship a little bit, at least until the others start bunking down. He also sniffs at the wind, trying to get an idea of the weather for tomorrow.

During dinner Aex doesn't drink too much rum. She's not up to the quantities some quaff... She ponders Jass' remark... "I'm sure you will all find a solution to do the right thing, eh? Sometimes that means fighting and sometimes it means talking out a solution, as long as the winners are the regular people who couldn't otherwise protect themselves......
But what is the right thing in this case? Battle? Destruction? Mayhem? Death?? While we're picking over control of Bonetown the Wold seems to face a greater foe in the shape of Billoopl... why hasn't that issue become a common goal for the residents of Bonetown and the Shipping Guild?! If that false deity takes the upper hand... whoever wins tomorrow... faces dire times never the less... But she decides to hold her tongue. It seems her friends are fixed on tomorrows battle. Aex takes it upon herself to help her friends as much as possible. Healing them and fighting whoever fights her friends.

Jass (SteveK) Wednesday June 3rd, 2015 5:43:46 PM
The young but graying sorcerer enjoys talking to the heroes, and he always loved helping out the regular folk... as long as he doesn't have to work to help! In between stories of 'there-we-were' and little sips of the rum, Jass casts a Dancing Lights and has it play with Justicar. Jass is never far without an Unseen Servant, and the minor magic goes about helping Horace with the cleaning.
But after a while it is clear it is time to go. Jass is sensitive to social nuances and never out stays his welcome. "Well, Ve, time to go. It has been nice but duty calls and there are people waiting on us." Jass stands and out of his Pants O Plenty pulls out a small chest. "A small gift for you from the Dragon Consortium. I always keep a few handy for when running into good souled people. No telling what it can help with, eh?"
Jass waits for Ve to give his wise words before touching his companion. "OK everyone! Buh-bye!
(After Ve talks, Jass casts a spell, Greater Teleport, and they are gone. )
Ve Mundr (Dan K) Wednesday June 3rd, 2015 9:45:58 PM
Ve lets Jass lead with the stories and offers an occasional insight and steers his companion to parts of stories where words and not weapons won the day. The cleric of Domi smiles at Rillet's response and chuckles a bit. "I choose to use happenstance instead of more colorful phrasing We came to Bonetown with purpose and you became a part of that purpose. Tomorrow will bring what you will."
Ve enjoys a full mug of the offered rum and a smaller refilled portion over the course of the next hour. Jass wraps things up and Ve nods. It was time to go. The last leg of this journey was still needed to be made. This crew was part of that, the reason they sought them out. Ve ponders at how much he should reveal if anything at all over the future of the region these 'local' heroes have set into motion. Ve stands and thanks the crew of the Lionfish for their bravery and hospitality. His decision made, Ve leaves the crew with an assurance. "Take heart and be assured the Consortium is still very much active in the Wold as Jass has said. From the heavens to the Shadowlands, ...to that which wakens in the deep. May you always find the courage to laugh." With that last comment he nods to Jass adn in teh blink of an eye are gone

OOC: Boy was I tired last night, but I wanted to post before midnight. I hope I may be allowed a more thoughtful addendum.
========== ========== ==========
During the evening, Zeoll is mostly quiet, but he takes many mental notes, and thinks hard about ways to recognize and remember all the heroes he has known in his life, and those of whom he has heard. He wonders what will happen to those memories when he passes to the Lands of Rest. He ponders ways to keep them alive in memory.
When the two heroes of legend are about to leave, the old liontaur rises and bows, then shakes hands goodby.
"It has been a trrue pleasurre to sit and meet you both again," he says. "Ve, it inspirres me to rrememberr how we fought togetherr against some prretty evil foes. And Jass, yourr good spirits arre indefatiguable! I hope you will continue to inspirre young adventurrerrs forr yearrs and yearrs to come."
DM Rob - "That was...strange" Thursday June 4th, 2015 6:37:57 AM Magana is a bit confused as to why Justier would be afraid of her. Truth be told, he has become quite fond of her (and the whole crew) but was scared he would be told off for spying. At being invited to serve the heroes though, his smile couldn't be wider. The boy gives Magana a salute - as if he'd been given an important mission - and sets off to find the rum bottles.
Rillet feels very honoured to have the Dragon Consortium members grace him with their presence. He has done an excellent job of tallying the groups loot.
Terser sure doesn't mind visiting the catacombs again. Whatever it takes to get off this rocking ship, eh?
Hashamon watches silently, and considers the words the heroes have shared. Perhaps one day he will have the pleasure of being in the Dragon Consortium and bestowing words on up-and-coming heroes?
Aex is cautious with the rum. Last thing she needs is to make a scene, or worse, be in an unfit state tomorrow. Her head and heart mull what the right thing to do might be.
Justier returns beaming a smile and humbly pours a drink for each of the heroes, and then the party. Once done, he back away from the table.
After an hour of storytelling and reminiscing, the ever polite and friendly Jass knows when the time for visitors is at an end, and stands to gracefully exit. He knows that heroes need focus before a big battle, not distractions from celebrities. Of course, like any good guest he has brought a gift for the hosts. He pulls a small chest from his kit and places it on the table.
Ve follows Jass' lead, and stands to thank the crew for their hospitality. "To that which wakens in the deep" are his cryptic parting words as he nods and teleports away.
Zeoll and Coer sit quietly, each with thoughts they aren't yet ready to share. What will the next day bring? What should they do? Will they be heroes?
Jozhur is the first to speak, noting how odd the appearance of the pair was. Still, he is not one to look a gift horse in the mouth and sets to inspecting the chest that now lies in the middle of the table.
Inside the red velvet lined chest sit 8 identical vials. Each vial contains some sort of fluid that is constantly changing colour. Fortunately, the Dragon Consortium are quite meticulous and have attached small labels to each vial: "Anything Potion"

Magana stows a vial and ponders what it's best use might be. Maybe to make herself bigger. That is always fun.
DM Rob - "Well... not much else to do but rest and meditate..." Friday June 5th, 2015 2:23:07 AM
Each member of the party takes a vial of the wondrous potion. The possibilities for using it are practically endless. It might just be that one thing that could turn a defeat into a victory.
Terser and Zeoll discuss the various effects the potion could create. Magana is just focused on getting bigger!
Hashamon just sleeps upon his. Typical cat. They can sleep on anything.
Rillet and Jozhur try to think of a more peaceful approach to the coming day.
Unfortunately all who sail in Bonetown are united and preparing for a fight. This might be the one time diplomacy would fail. Jozhur though considers minimising the collateral damage and containing the fighting to Elstred's ship.
Rillet considers that once Elstred is defeated/overthrown, that a different Shipping Guild contact might be open to a peaceful negotiation. If only the party knew some friendly Shipping Guild members...
At various times throughout the night, the party make the trip back and forth from the Catacombs. Each buying and selling and preparing for battle.
In the early hours of the morning, close to 4am, comes a loud whisper from the docks "Psst! Captain Coer? Captain Coer?"
Standing on the docks, each holding a crossbow and wearing armor, stand Karin and Lew. "Captain Coer? It's us! We want to help!"

Hashamon, Tauren Druid HP 64/100 - AC 16 - Touch 10 - FF 14 Friday June 5th, 2015 3:49:58 PM
When Hashamon raises a sleepy eye lid to check the commotion on the docks, he realizes that his potion-pillow has multiplied! Eight vials of anti-toxin and two bottles of a magic potion are stuffed under his paws as well.
After a sniff and a paw slap (just to be on the safe side), he lets out a wide mouth yawn and then reverts back to his natural form, almost regrettably. He always sleeps better as a cat.
His voice is deep and rumbly, and as he rubs his sleepy eyes his yawn gives way to a shout.
He gathers up the vials, and pokes his head down at the newcomers. With a shrug, he turns and waits for the others. When the moment is right, he passes out his 8 anti-toxins, keeping one for himself."
"These came from friends of mine. I think they will be a big help against the poison arrows. It would be a shame if someone slept through the hunt."
He stares at Johzur, then leans against the mast and waits for what comes next.
Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC22 - HP 51 of 51) Friday June 5th, 2015 4:06:15 PM
Zeoll wakes after sleeping on deck under the stars, as he always does. He welcomes Karin and Lew warmly. He asks each of them seriously, "Are you still a member of the Shipping Guild?" If either says yes, then he will ask for a lock of hair, and prepare his Nemesis Insight spell.
And he accepts a vial from Hashamon.
He prays for his spells, tweaking his usual assortment.
Knowing that the battle will start soon, he casts a Mage Armor on both Hashamon and Aexana.
He adds that he can let four other people Walk on Water for almost an hour. Who wants in?

"If anyone is still injured, please let me know. We cannot afford to go into this tomorrow with anyone injured." Rillett will heal anyone that asks.
"Now, Magana, if you will allow me..." Rillett will cast an Extended Magic Vestment on Magana - 16 hours of +2 AC enhancement bonus to her Chain Mail.
"I plan to cast Air Walk on Magana and Terser as we approach." Should last 80 min. "Looks like our two Druids have their transportation covered. Zeoll, if you will kindly include the remaining 4 of us with your Water Walk tomorrow, that would be most helpful."
"Captain Coer, what are your plans to prepare the Lionfish to defend against fireballs? Do you have a way to wet down the decks and rigging? Do you have cloths or furs you can wet and place about the ship?"
Rillett will then rest.
When Karin and Lew show up, he will say, "Karin and Lew, I do not know your skills and relative ability. Would you be most effective staying aboard our vessel and shooting with your crossbows? Bear in mind that we will likely be subject to fire from the other ship, from both projectiles and fireballs or lightning bolts. We may need to use Obscuring Mist at some point, which would hamper your ability to shoot."

Coerator (Mark) -- Mage Armor AC 23(19/18/16) -- CMD 23 -- HP 87/87 (Ki 8/8) Sunday June 7th, 2015 10:32:55 PM "Yarrrr, ill be honest Rillett - The 'fish has not seen a great deal of battle that to warrant defenses for attacks such as magical fire. The crew are fearless however and will defend her- she is their home after all."
Coer Looks at the mighty Lionfish - it has been patched up a few times now. Will it last another day? Only time and the gods will tell.
"Zeoll old friend...to water walk would serve me well, my skills lie in close combat.
When the time for battle approaches he will drink a mage armor potion.

(Brock) Jozhur AC21/16/15--CMD 24--HP65/65 Monday June 8th, 2015 2:21:14 AM
Jozhur graciously accepts the vial from Hashamon. "You're right, I wouldn't want to miss this battle."
"I can swim okay, but I'll fall behind. Maybe let me get a head start swimming, I should be able to get fairly close unnoticed."
