Gathering at the Giggling Ghost (DM Cayzle) Monday August 24th, 2015 8:33:59 AM
It's a slow day in The Giggling Ghost, the most famous tavern in the Big Float. The place is reknowned for its magical fireplaces and tapestries, and for the heroes who visit from all over the Wold. Today, though, the only "heroes" present are the homegrown kind: Agrippa, Stohp, Koh, and Pesmer, sitting at a table and chatting. A bustling fellow named "Happy" is the manager, and he is definitely busier than the current traffic would require.
It seems that the place is about to host a meeting of local business people, and Happy is making sure everything looks good. He's got all three of his permanent servers on call -- Shimmer, Fern, and Starlight -- and he looks like he wishes he had some extra help.
Roland and Micah, both smiths from the Barracks level, both devoted to Domi, enter with Roland's mentor, Olenjack. Since the army was disbanded several years ago, the smiths of the Barracks level have been looking to the Fence for more business. Micah is his family's representative to this meeting, and he knows that local merchants and artisans are concerned about several troubling trends in the Float.
Norr arrives to represent the Fatted Calf, another large tavern on the Fence that has been feeling the pinch lately. Perhaps Norr feels proud to be selected by Grokk Greatbelly, the proprietor of the Calf, for this job. Or maybe he realizes that sending a bouncer to the meeting is a bit of a slap at Happy, with whom Grokk has had a bit more than somewhat of a rivalry over the years.
Lifarnin El-Torin, the reclusive conjurer who has made his home in the Manor of the Mage, has sent his apprentice, Luthon, to the gathering. But it is no insult, in this case; old Lifarnin is quite feeble, and never leaves his home these days. Luthon, however, a somewhat sheltered mage focused on his studies, is not aware of any pressing problems faced by The Floating City. However, now that Luthon comes to think of it ...
Luthon only, Please Highlight to display spoiler: {The Waystation, the great teleportal that connects the Float to Plateau City and Hook City, has been malfunctioning more often than not lately, playing havoc with magical deliveries.}
Happy greets the newcomers and says that he expects more trades people to arrive very soon.
[OOC: Welcome to Lakeview Passage, friends! Please do describe yourselves, and feel free to interact with each other or the other NPCs. More will be arriving tomorrow. Please post your PC name and your real name in parentheses. And do link your PC name to your PC sheet in your header; let me know if you need help with that.]
Stohp HP: 9 AC: 15/12/12 CMB: +4 Monday August 24th, 2015 11:21:09 AM
Stohp notes the group that seems to be gathering. "Huh, wonder what's going on." she wonders aloud.
Recognizing Norr, she decides to stands up to wave; maybe he'll be able to explain. Stohp is small for a Minotaur, with soft brown fur. Her horns are half normal size, which might cause confusion as to her age. Since it's late at night, she's only wearing a pair of brown breeches and a white shirt, like a workman would wear, instead of her usual, fancier merchants attire.
Roland Gibbs (Andrew) Monday August 24th, 2015 8:38:20 PM
Roland enters the tavern adorned in the banded mail given to him by Olenjack, his mentor and surrogate father, looking clearly uncomfortable to be dressed in such armor at the tavern. He was told by Olenjack that, as a man trying to become an adventurer, he must look the part if he ever wished to be taken seriously by these merchants. Aside from the armor encasing him, Roland has his sledge holstered over one shoulder, another symbol to the people at the meeting that he is no longer just a blacksmith, but a warrior in training. With this accents on his appearance Roland almost looks like a proper knight, a handsome young human that is tall and strong with a meticulously curled mustache upon his lip, with a mess of sandy brown hair that is kept short to the sides. Any stranger could confuse Roland's new gallant image as someone from noble stock, but with the telltale smears of soot and dirt on his face you can tell that he is a man of simple status. Upon entering the Giggling Ghost, Roland immediately notices that Happy is scurrying around in a rush trying to get everything in order for the meeting, so he sets his sledge down by the bar and says to the frantic barkeep "Happy, are you in need of an extra hand?"
Micah (John) Monday August 24th, 2015 10:55:18 PM
Micah allows Roland and Olenjack to enter ahead of him. While Roland hares off, he surveys those in the tavern. He quickly notes the four sitting together and recognizing his sometime sparring partner and her sister he gives Olenjack a courteous nod and approaches their table. As he does so, he finds himself unconsciously rubbing his shoulder once dislocated by Koh during a friendly wrestling match.
One's first inclination upon seeing Micah as he hangs behind his companions is to dismiss him as there is nothing about his clothing or actions to make him worthy of note. However, once he moves through the tavern, something about his casual self confidence and relaxed but seemingly ready air might make a less than casual observer look again. Upon such a closer look one would quickly notice that a well used war hammer hangs unobtrusively from his side and a steel medallion of a diamond bisected horizontally circumscribed by a circle dangles from its chain around his muscular neck. His humble but self-assured demeanor implies he has ample faith in both.
"Greetings, Strohp and Koh Shatterhorn", he says affably while gesturing toward a nearby empty chair, "might I join you?".
Agrippa (Jacob) Tuesday August 25th, 2015 12:16:23 AM
As the first three human soldiers walked into the door, Agrippa's hair on her arms and neck stood on end. Clean shaven, armed, muscles for days, she thought while reflexively putting a hand on the bag at her feet, closer towards her greataxe. However, when one of them greeted both the Taur sisters, she relaxed her shoulders and pretended to stretch.
The armored human spoke how busy Happy was, making Agrippa realize that she could be helping, even though it's not her shift just yet. Noticing that the calm human intended to sit amongst her party, she stood and said, "You can have my chair." Taking up her bag, she nods at Koh, Stohp and Pesmer before moving to find Starlight.
Agrippa tends to conceal much of her half-orc appearance behind her cloak, but her leather armor blends in with what olive skin makes it through. She makes little effort to hide her short sword at her side, and greataxe on her pack.
Norr (David S.) Tuesday August 25th, 2015 12:18:59 AM
Norr surveys the patrons of the tavern for several moments after entering. Noticing Stohp waving to him, he walks toward her table, " We meet in a different tavern, it seems." He remarks dryly.
Norr is large and appears physically fit. Wearing a chain shirt with an axe strapped to his belt, he seems somewhat out of place in a tavern.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) Tuesday August 25th, 2015 3:07:38 AM
Pesmer's dark blue orbs peer curiously at each and every soldier, blacksmith, mage and what have you that walks through the front door of the inn, greatly curious as to what was going on. It had been a quiet day just a few minutes beforehand, yet as newer faces step into the Giggling Ghost, at least newer to Pesmer, voices from all sorts of races and ages seem to dance about in the air to fill in the previous void of near-silence. This, of course, was the perfect moment for Pesmer to begin taking notes within his journal.
Standing up as Agrippa did, Pesmer offers a soft smile to the human male who approached their table, giving a gentle wave to his three friends as he spoke. "Please, catch up and enjoy yourselves. If you will excuse me." Taking his leave, he heads in a similar direction as his friend Agrippa, yet instead of offering a helping hand to Mr. Happy, he makes himself comfortable against a nearby wall that seemed to be absent of chatter as he takes out his journal from his backpack, scribbling notes and details of everyone in the tavern who drew his interest.
Covered in a long dark blue set of robes, the mage laid his quarterstaff against the wall beside him as he brushed his shoulder length blond hair back behind one of his half elven ears as he wrote within his book. His pale hand shifted through the pages as he updated a few bits of information on his friends as well, making small little notes of who know's who and whatnot as he happily and rather excitedly watches everyone laugh and play within the now very much alive tavern called The Giggling Ghost.
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 10 AC: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) Tuesday August 25th, 2015 5:18:12 AM
Koh is a larger minotaur, horns shaved almost all the way down to flat cylindrical nubs. She's nearly nine feet tall, with soft brown fur and chocolate-brown wavy hair which is only covered a little by a cap. She's also in a button-down shirt, sleeves rolled up, but in a long skirt instead of breeches, as her sister is. Right now, she's just observing newcomers, arms crossed. Hmmm...then Agrippa leaves, and Pesmer. Is she a greeting party right now? At the moment, she doesn't know. Either way, she tips her head to Norr in greeting.
Gathering at the Giggling Ghost (DM Cayzle) Tuesday August 25th, 2015 9:09:55 AM
Happy smiles at Roland's offer of assistance, but shakes his head in a polite no. "No, no! You are not here to work the inn. Besides, I see my part-time server, Agrippa, is volunteering, although she's not on call for today. That's what I like in an employee -- hanging around even when they're not on the clock."
"Agrippa, please set out cutlery and napkins, please!"
Meanwhile, Norr and Micah join Stohp and Koh at their table. This influx of new faces proves too much for the introverted Pesmer, who retreats to a corner to take notes.
It does seem to be a gathering of friends, or of friends of friends. But other people are entering the Giggling Ghost, some well-known in the area, others less so ...
You see two halflings enter the establishment.
The first stands at just over 3 feet tall and has blonde sun bleached hair and deeply tanned skin. She wears unusual leather armor under an tan apron. She carries a staff tipped with a bone hook. If you make an Int check or untrained Know Knowledge (Local) check vs DC10, then Highlight to display spoiler: {You recognize her as Belba Stubbletoe, a local Turtlemaster, working with the giant turtles that serve as ferries and boats around the lake.}
With her is a 2 foot tall halfling boy unruly tangles of hair in his head and on his feet. If you make a trained Know Knowledge (Local) check vs DC15, then Highlight to display spoiler: {You recognize Timmy Tanglefoot, a turtle wrangler.}
Right behind those two is a wiry human male. If you make an Int check or untrained Know Knowledge (Local) check vs DC10, then you know Highlight to display spoiler: {It is Brassy McGurk, the owner of the Brass Toad Tavern.}
Shimmer, the human serving girl, comes around to take everyone's order. There is something faintly magical about her ... the way her skin shines?
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 10 AC: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) d20=2 ; d20=4 ; Tuesday August 25th, 2015 1:34:45 PM
Nodding to Micah as well, a fellow Domnitiate, Koh is curious about the new faces, but says nothing. Hmm. Looking to Shimmer, she decides: "Something green. With low ale." Low ale? She thinks she got the wording right. Her accent is thick, as she's still not used to speaking the language in the slightest. Her ears can pick up the speaking of it well enough, though.
Agrippa (Jacob) 3d20+5=27 ; d20+5=13 ; d20+5=10 ; d20+5=25 ; Tuesday August 25th, 2015 6:57:51 PM "Gotcha'" Agrippa nods to Happy. She heads to the back, quickly sets her pack down, dons her gown and apron, and sets aside her weapons (except her concealed ones). Nowhere else would she abandon her weapons without a second thought than behind the staff doors of the Giggling Ghost. Agrippa steps out to the bar.
Finding the utensils, the door opens again and she recognizes one of the two halflings that just entered. Her curiosity grows as she also recognizes the human that follows them. Counting heads and coordinating with Starlight, she notices Pesmer has moved to a corner. Agrippa brings the utensils and napkins with her to the tables, heads to Pesmer and whispers, "Care for a meal?". Agrippa is thankful that her volunteer work will still keep her within earshot of what these merchants and ex-soldiers have to say.
(OOC: I thought the first roll would show the results of the individual rolls. My mistake :P)
Micah (John) d20+1=18 ; d20+1=13 ; d20+1=19 ; Tuesday August 25th, 2015 9:29:50 PM
Micah nods to the impressive taur joining the table saying, "I do not believe we have met. My name is Micah Smith,"
He orders an ale while giving Shimmer a polite smile. Though attentive to those at his table, he also makes note of those already present as well as those arriving. Just in case Roland gets distracted, he also keeps an eye on the sledge he set by the bar.
[OOC: Oops on the third roll; I missed that the 2nd check was trained only.]
Norr (David S.) d20=8 ; d20=13 ; Tuesday August 25th, 2015 11:03:15 PM
Norr nods to the human while saying, "Norr Stonehoof."
Finished with introductions for the moment; he turns his attention toward those just entering the tavern, seeing if he recognizes any of the newcomers...

(you had a space between the [ and href David. You also have to put a /b in [ ] at the end of your bold segment)
Stohp sits back down and chomps on some nuts she had previously ordered. As she examines the 2nd group of newcomers she distractedly waves away Shimmer, content with her snack.
"There must be something important going on. The halflings are a turtle trainer and wrangler, and that human represents another Inn. I'm not sure, but some of the other guests might be clerics and the big guy looks like a blacksmith."
Roland Gibbs (Andrew) 2d20+1=10 ; d20+1=5 ; d20+1=20 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 3:07:35 AM
Seeing that Happy politely refuses my assistance, I go over to collect my sledge and find a seat next to Olenjack. I recognize that Shimmer has an unearthly iridescence to her, but feeling it to be impolite to stare I only give her as much attention as the other people in the room. As the newcomers enter, I recognize Brassy McGurk accompanied by two unknown Halflings. I whisper over to Olenjack to say " What is Brassy doing at the Giggling Ghost? Shouldn't he be at his own tavern?"
(OOC: The first 2d20 roll was a mess up, ignore that)
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) d20+4=17 ; d20+4=9 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 4:17:16 AM
Delighted to see even more folk wander into The Giggling Ghost, Pesmer had a great deal to write about in his journal as his dark blue half elven eyes scan over the faces of each and every newcomer. He didn't recognize the two males that had entered but he definitely knew the face of the female halfling beside them; Belba Stubbletoe, a turtle master, was someone Pesmer had been wanting to speak with since he learned of her existence. The idea that Belba was able to work with the massive turtles around the lake to serve as ferries was something quiet brilliant in Pesmer's mind.
As he gaze fixated upon the halfling, his concentration was firstly broken by Shimmer, the human serving girl that crossed his visual path. Having seen her a multitude of times within The Giggling Ghost, Pesmer was always curious as to find out if the girl was gifted in the ways of magic or not. It was around this time that he noticed Agrippa, his Half Orc friend, wander her way towards his little research corner. When she asked if he cared for a meal, Pesmer would smile softly as he shook his head. "Thank you, friend, but I am not hungry. How can anyone be hungry with such excitement in the air." His hand would gesture to all the folk laughing and chatting about in the tavern, the very air of the place brilliant with stories and experience unlike anything that Pesmer got to see very often. "But... Do me a favor? If you hear any good stories while catering about, please do share? I will trade you, of course, with anything interesting that I hear." Pesmer gave her a toothy grin, hoping to add his half orc friend into his arsenal of ways to gather stories for the evening.
Gathering at the Giggling Ghost (DM Cayzle) Wednesday August 26th, 2015 8:45:08 AM
Two more stragglers enter the tavern ...
A middle aged human woman wearing a lot of jewelry. Know Local DC10: Highlight to display spoiler: { It is Pearl Glowerin, the owner of Pearl’s Pearls -- a shop that specializes in maritime jewelry and magic.}
A dwarf covered in nautical tattoos. Know Local DC10: Highlight to display spoiler: { It is Bait House owner Garn Bluefist. The Bait House supplies gear to many local fishers.} He bows to the female halfling and says something to her, too low and fast for easy eavesdropping. Perception DC15 to overhear: Highlight to display spoiler: {Belba, I came like you asked but I think this is going to be a waste of time.}
"Ah, welcome everybody!" says Happy. "We'll give it a few minutes to see if anyone else arrives."
As some of you have deduced, this is a meeting of several local business people and tradesfolk. Happy shepherds Norr (representing his employer) and Micah (representing his family business) to join the gathering. He sets Agrippa with the job of keeping the main table well-watered.
The halfling woman has a word with her apprentice, and the halfling male with the hairy feet leaves the main group and joins Koh and Stohp. "So, this is the kiddie table? I got kicked off the grown-ups table. Mind if I have a seat, ladies?"
Roland asks Olenjack about Brassy. "He was invited too, I guess," his master replies. "And it looks like it is one seat per business. Why don't you sit over there, and keep your eyes open?" It seems that Roland is being banished to the "kiddie table" too!
Olenjack nods to Micah and asks after his dad, Mattus. "So, you're a cleric and a smith? Well, good on ya, Brother of Domi, but don't think I'll go easy on ya just because you're a man of the cloth. Mattus has another think coming if that's why he sent ya in his place."
The wiry human sits next to Norr and claps him on the back, laughing. "So, Grokk Greatbelly sent his bouncer to the meeting! Well, that's a funny he's pulled on old Happy Go Lucky, ain't it?" If Norr has not recognized the fellow yet, this may jog his memory. Norr only, make a DC5 Know Local or Int check and then please Highlight to display spoiler: { You recognize Brassy McGurk, the owner of the Brass Toad Tavern. He, Happy, and Grokk are competitors, and Brassy is friends with both of the others.}
The middle age human woman asks "Can we get started? I closed my shop for this. And it is not like I can afford to lose the traffic." The dwarf nods quickly in agreement.
Stohp HP: 9 AC: 15/12/12 CMB: +4 d20+7=14 ; d20+7=11 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 11:32:49 AM
Stohp continues to watch with interest as the business owners continue to file in, but she is too polite to try to eavesdrop. Her curiosity is to strong to not grill the halfling when he comes over though.
"Kiddies? We're customers, and we got here first. Take a chair and satisfy our curiosity about what's going on Timmy."
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 10 AC: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) d20=17 ; d20=15 ; d20+7=19 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 1:31:30 PM
Koh is starting to get a clearer picture. She scootches to make room - she doesn't use a chair, merely sitting on the ground and letting her height give her a regular view over the table. Stuffing more at this table would be a much bigger hassle if one of them wasn't a halfling. But a shop owner...two. Then the larger minotaur, the bouncer at her job...younger than her, but fit and able.
Her ears flick as she hears something important. She hasn't spoken yet, but it's only because now, she doesn't have a reason to. This meeting is between a great deal of the important shop owners of the level, so possibly the residents with pull. If it's a waste of time? At the very least, this is a meeting to discuss petitioning or whatnot. There's long been dissent with the city structure and here they are, the bottom-feeders, wanting a bigger slice.
She nudges Stohp with her elbow, making a shhh sound. She'll have to ask Micah about his shoulder later, as a courtesy. She's not exactly as devout as he is, but she attends church regularly. Well...weekly. Weeeeeelll...every other week when she can manage it.
...she attends church.
Agrippa (Jacob) d20+5=19 ; d20+5=20 ; d20+5=16 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 5:48:06 PM
Agrippa's ears perk as the door opens to allow more clients. Her eyes noticeably become unfocused as she catches a few choice words from across the bar. "...Oh err-Certainly. I'll tell ya' after." she whispers to Pesmer before making her way back to the bar. Happy addresses her to the duty of keeping water glasses full. She can hardly believe her luck. Going to the cabinet, she counts heads and brings nine glasses to the main table Happy requested be prepared, and an extra glass for... did Stohp say, 'Timmy,' at the "kiddy" table.
Five business representatives, a wizard apprentice, an' three ex-soldiers, Agrippa thinks to herself. She eyes the congregation, hovering over Norr for just a moment with worry. Man... Pesmer has the righ' idea writin' everythin' down.
Micah (John) d20+1=2 ; d20+1=17 ; d20+3=6 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 10:08:22 PM
Micah laughs at Olenjack's jest. It is a soft, but good natured laugh and it lights up all of his face. "Dear dwarf, if my father wanted an unfair advantage over you, he would have sent my mother," he quips in reply. Following this exchange, he waits attentively and expectantly for these proceedings, whatever they may be, to begin while making note of those he recognizes and looking for clues as to the identity of those he doesn't.
Roland Gibbs (Andrew) d20+1=5 ; d20+1=8 ; d20+1=12 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 10:40:40 PM
As more people Roland does not recognize enter the tavern, he takes his mentors advice and sits at the table for the other apprentices. He bow's politely to the three Taurs sitting at the table, pulling up a chair to sit with them. "Hullo there, I don't believe we have met before. I am Roland, I am an apprentice of good ol' Olenjack over there" He gives a warm smile to his new table mates and calls over a server. " One cup of strong black tea if you would." he says to Fern as he sets his sledge off to the side, close by but not to obstruct his seating.
Norr (David S.) d20=16 ; d20=3 ; d20+1=11 ; Wednesday August 26th, 2015 11:46:52 PM
Norr flinches at the unexpected physical contact from the human, and replies, "He pulled one on me as well, this isn't what I expected to be doing tonight,"
He waits patiently for the meeting to officially start.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) d20+4=19 ; d20+4=14 ; d20+2=12 ; Thursday August 27th, 2015 12:00:29 AM
Pesmer was absolutely glowing with joy as Agrippa said yes, knowing full well that the half orc would probably hear and see more than Pesmer could what with her waitering at the main table. Giving Agrippa a small wave goodbye as she returned to Happy and her duties, Pesmer's eyes would return focus to the front door as he saw several more folk wander in.
Noticing the middle aged human woman first, he instantly knew her as Pearl Glowerin, shop owner of a very peculiar jewelry and magic store. Pesmer had made several visits to this shop and had spoken to Pearl about her wares, asking for advice and the like. He didn't know her very well besides the occasional hello, but it was nice seeing someone he knew in person arrive for this meeting of sorts.
Next he saw a dwarf covered in nautical tattoos, another face he recognized as Garn Bluefist. This Garn was someone he had never met before but had heard a bit about him and his supply shop for the local fishermen. As Pesmer wrote down the two newcomers into his book, he noticed the dwarf whisper something to the female halfling. Unfortunately he couldn't pick any of it up as the tavern was too loud, so he decided to make his way closer towards the main table.
Picking up his pack and staff, Pesmer moves through the mess of people as he aims to get closer to the group of well known folk, yet hears the words, "Can we get started?" from Pearl and decides to make a quick landing at his friends table. Placing his book upon the wooden structure, he pulls up a chair and wiggles his way into the large group, trying his best not to bump into anyone yet unhappily doing so. "Pardon me. Excuse me. So sorry." He whispers out as he returns to writing in his journal as his dark blues watch the main table speak, giving no real look to any of his familiar friends or the newcomers that were now sitting at the table beside him. Pesmer never tried to be rude, of course, but when a story needed to be written down, that's where his focus would be.
If any of his friends at the table would look to Pesmer, they would notice his robes seemed tighter upon his form, his muscles a tad larger than the previous days before. He had focused his physical enhancement during his morning ritual to increase his overall strength, something he did every morning before leaving for the outside word. (+1 to strength score until Pesmer studies his spell book in the following morning.)

At the "kiddie table," Timmy grins at Stohp's words. "You know my name, but I fear I do not know yours!" He pauses for introductions, grinning at Koh. "As for what's going on, well, the Mistress got the invite from Happy. The man knows everybody, and the Mistress figured she better not be left out."
"As for what's bugging her," Timmy adds, lowering his voice, "Well, usually you operate a taxi service to go from point A to point B, right? Well, what if there was only a point A and no B? That would not be great for business. That's what its been like since the Float relocated."
[OOC: No knowlege check needed to know what he's talking about. The city used to Float in a lake in New Elenna, but then it was moved almost 1,000 miles east to its current spot. In the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by a magical wood that is actively hateful toward animal life.]
Roland joins Timmy, Stohp, and Koh. He orders tea and makes introductions. Pesmer sits down too; he seems a little more chatty than earlier.
Agrippa keeps alert as she performs her duties. She overhears something ... Agrippa Only Please Highlight to display spoiler: { You hear the middle-aged woman wearing jewelry ask the tattooed dwarf, who she calls "Garn," something about rats.}
Olenjack laughs at Micah's joke and tells him, "You're all right, kid."
Micah watches for the start of the proceedings, and can tell Happy is expecting others to arrive.
Norr waits patiently.
Happy keeps a close eye on the door, but no one else enters. He shrugs, and takes a seat at the main table.
"Well, let's get started. We're here to talk about our troubles, to put it bluntly, and and to see if we can't think of a decent way to make things better for everybody."
He starts off himself, talking about how his business has been off lately. Happy says business is down 25 percent from the locals over the last 6 months. He has overheard several saying, “Fence is the new Trash.”
Pearl, the woman in jewelry, agrees. Too many businesses are looking run down. "If we want customers to shop on Fence Level, and visitors to stay here near the water rather than go up to other levels, many of our shops need a fresh coat of paint and some repairs. And we can't have vermin in the street!"
Happy looks around, hoping others at the table will chime in.
Agrippa (Jacob) d20+5=20 ; Thursday August 27th, 2015 8:23:25 PM
Upon hearing Pearl speak of vermin, Agrippa grew worried. She has some friends in the Trash level. If the rats become a problem for the higher levels, the Float might think of flooding it soon. She reminds herself to speak to her friends below of finding safety.
On the other hand, Agrippa thinks to herself, if we get rid o' these rats ourselves, word migh' not reach on high, 'n I don' have to think abou' a weekend cleanin' out bodies. She shudders to herself behind the bar. After a moment of collection, she'll continue listening into the conversation, and maintain water levels with acute senses (Perception = 20).
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 10 AC: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) Thursday August 27th, 2015 10:08:18 PM "But that is problem, isn't? Cannot afford paint because no business. No business because can't afford paint. So we stay at bottom, propping Floating City up with backs." For if there was not a bottom level, everything would be kinda...well, things are a balance.
A horrid, sucky balance.
Micah (John) d20+1=2 ; Thursday August 27th, 2015 10:22:01 PM
Micah does not recognize the woman in jewelry, but is disturbed by her comment about vermin. He wonders to himself, "Does she mean creatures or people she considers to be undesirable?" He continues to watch, listen, and wait.
OOC: the d20+1=2 is an artifact; not sure why it is there.
Roland (Andrew) d20+5=15 ; Thursday August 27th, 2015 10:25:25 PM
Roland sits patiently, listening to the grievances of the different businessmen at the main table. At the mention of vermin, Roland shoots a glance over at Olenjack [15 Sense Motive], wondering if this was the reason why Olenjack insisted on him dressing in armor for the meeting.
Stohp HP: 9 AC: 15/12/12 CMB: +4 Thursday August 27th, 2015 11:03:33 PM
Stohp introduces herself with a small bow. "My name is Stohp Shatterhorn and this is my sister Koh. I can see your problem, I doubt many people want to go ashore into a murderous sentient forest. Why on earth did the city relocate here anyway?"
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) d20+4=14 ; Friday August 28th, 2015 3:18:32 AM
Pesmer stopped writing for a few minutes as he just listened in on what the meeting table was discussing, finding each bit of information rather interesting. He hadn't paid too much attention to the problems of the Fence level as half elf folk who stuck their noses in places they shouldn't have usually got such noses removed. Yet, The Float had become his home over the several years he had stayed in it, and over time he grew a soft spot for the place. Maybe it was time he did more then just live quietly.
He, of course, wouldn't speak up towards the meeting table as he knew none of them to the point of familiarity. Assuming his words would be ignored or even shunned, he stayed quiet for a spell as he listened, taking in what new grain of knowledge he could. It was interesting that Pearl spoke of vermin in the streets. Pesmer tried his best to search his memory for any times he had heard of or seen vermin attacks or the like.
(Intelligence Check 14 to see if Pesmer had ever heard of vermin attacks or anything of the like in the Fence Level since he started living there.)
Norr (David S.) d20=11 ; Friday August 28th, 2015 5:05:32 AM
Norr keeps silent, allowing the business owners an opportunity to discuss things among themselves for the moment, while attempting to divine whether Pearl is referring to animals or, unfortunately, certain humanoids. (Sense Motive 11.)
Gathering at the Giggling Ghost (DM Cayzle) Friday August 28th, 2015 8:52:18 AM
At the kiddie table, Koh, Pesmer, and Roland strain thier ears to follow the main conversation -- Pesmer even stops writing things down in order to concentrate and think. He does seem to recall hearing someone complain about mice and rats recently. Koh is cynical, however; Roland is maybe ... cautious? He wonders why his mentor had him wear armor. Because the dwarf himself often wears armor? Because it is a good advertisement for thier armor business? Or because the "vermin" -- whatever they are -- are dangerous? Maybe all three.
Meanwhile, Timmy the apprentice turtle handler and Stohp chat a bit. Timmy tells Stohp the story of how the Float moved here, before she and her sister arrived. "Before I was born, after the Year of Ascension when all the gods died, and Marteaus destroyed the world, and the Jericho recreated everything, well, the Float somehow ended up here, next to the Crying Woods instead of back where it used to be in New Elenna. It wasn't nobody's choice!"
At the other table, Agrippa stays in the background, but she notices that several ears prick up at the mention of "vermin."
Micah finds that others share his question: Happy asks the female halfling, "What do you mean, Belba? vermin like spiders and rats, or vermin like people you don't like?"
"Why can't it be both?" she answers. "I've noticed more pickpockets and petty thieves on the Passage lately." Several others agree -- especially Pearl, who complains about her customers being harrassed, right in the middle of the day!
Norr only, please Highlight to display spoiler: {Pearl is genuinely upset, you think, and you agree with her. As a bouncer, you see the worst, and there have been more shady types in the tavern lately.}
The wiry human looks around the table. "I don't know everyone here," he says, looking at Norr and the two smiths and the wizard's apprentice. "I'm Brassy McGurk, and I own the Brass Toad Tavern. And I got a theory. I leep my ear to the ground. I think a new Thieves Guild is moving in. And maybe they got a vampire or a druid working with them, with the rats. First they let out the rats, then they come around offering "rat protection" for a "moderate fee." It explains everything."
Happy looks a bit sceptical. "Well, so what do we do about that? This is not Plateau City. We can't go to the Mayor and ask for a bunch of heroes to save us. The Overlord and the Guard don't care about the Fence." He looks around for opinions.
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 10 AC: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) Friday August 28th, 2015 11:46:27 AM
Mmmm. Well. Koh claps Stohp on the shoulder warmly. This is starting to turn out in a way she had thought. "Sounds like job in public service. Cleaning out rat den." She cracks her knuckles, and her neck. It has been a while since she had to seriously fight. Truth be told...she almost missed it a little. "I volunteer to check new Thieves Guild. This is home now - they will not poison it." She stands up now, as if to be heard.
"One cook does not make cleanup crew. Anyone else?" She looks around the room - at the priest of Imod(Domi), at the bouncer for her tavern...even a glance to Agrippa, who had told her of heroes.
Norr (David S.) Friday August 28th, 2015 3:11:07 PM
Norr turns to the other table as Koh speaks. Once she's finished, he stands and takes a step away from the main table, saying.. "I'm in but two may not be enough."
He watches those at the other table to see if anybody else feels up to the task.
Micah (John) d20+7=16 ; Friday August 28th, 2015 5:55:30 PM
Micah rises to speak, "My name is Micah Smith, son of Mattus and Esma, here on behalf of our family smithy. If there is a danger to our community, I am certainly willing to assist.". Turning to Brassy, "Mister McGurk, you raise some are serious allegations. May I ask if you have been approached by individuals demanding a fee for rat protection?" Then addressing the larger gathering, "Has anyone else? Also, I am asking this next question because I do not know, but is there an actual increase in rat attacks or thieving or our we just noticing them more because we are looking for reasons for business being down?"
Having raised his concerns, he returns to his seat. Micah keeps an eye on Brassy trying to discern how legitimate his concerns are or if he may have some other motive. (Sense Motive 16)
Roland (Andrew) Friday August 28th, 2015 9:45:31 PM
Roland stands up and politely raises his hand to gain the attention of the meeting. " If you're in need of heroes I can't rightly say that I am one, but like the others I'm willing to help out if you need me" He says to the crowd. " I may be just a blacksmith but this is my home and these matters affects my trade too, I'll be more than willing to help the others in ridding the Fence of any vermin you speak of"
Agrippa (Jacob) d20+1=9 ; d20+5=11 ; Saturday August 29th, 2015 12:27:22 AM
The reaction Agrippa perceived upon identifying the culprit of the Fence Level's crisis made her wonder if others were thinking what she was. When Koh volunteered her services, Agrippa wanted to speak up too. Her mouth opened... and then closed. She just couldn't will herself to doing so just yet (Will save failed; rolled a 9). She looked at Happy and rested a thumb on her fang, thinking if he would allow her time off to do such a thing. An' I'm wearin' an apron righ' now, she thought. Who woul' take me seriously?
She continued to keep glasses full as the main table clamored to the call of vermin destruction, but kept an eye on Pearl. Gatherin' everyone up o'er rats, n' petty thieves? Somethin' doesn' seem righ', she ponders while trying to get a hunch off of the change of Pearl's facial expressions to everyone's comments (Sense Motive; 11).
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) d20+4=19 ; d20+4=13 ; Saturday August 29th, 2015 12:47:40 AM "How curious..." Pesmer whispers to himself, his mind suddenly in overdrive as he ponders the exsistence of Vampires and Druids helping out thieves and muggers. He focuses for a moment as he searches his memory, trying to recall all information he could on both vampires as well as druids to see if either would be willing to do such mischief.
(19 untrained religion check on vampire and 13 untrained local check on druids.)
It was after he had remembered such information that he watched Koh stand up and give her speech of heroes and cleaning crew. Surely (I am serious. And don't call me Shirley) one by one he watched as Norr, Michah and Roland all stood up to pitch in their hands to help this cause of investigating thieves and vermin. It was this excitement of a journey of knowledge and adventure that stirred Pesmer himself up from his seat to stand.
"My name is Pesmer Zerase. I have lived here in this Fence level for several years, quietly watching of course, and I think its time I helped out around here as well. I am a mage of no real power, but I offer what I have to help these brave folk battle vampire, thieves and vermin alike. If indeed it is a druid.. Well.. It will break my heart, but such attacks cannot go on, even if it is a druid who causes such a ruckus."
Clearing his throat some, Pesmer slowly closes one of his books before continuing. "If you accept our help, you won't have to pay guards and the like to do this service. Plus, you are having members of the Fence level take of this. It will show the Fence level doesn't run or hide when provoked. That we stand and fight against those who.. Who wish to harm our families and businesses." Clearing his throat once more, Pesmer sits after speaking, his eyes carefully watching each of the merchants and business owners that he had just addressed.
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9 AC: 15/12/12 CMB: +4 Sunday August 30th, 2015 12:59:24 AM (I finally remembered to edit my header to add my name! Yay! XD)
Stohp looks around in amusement at all the people standing up to declare themselves to the cause. "Well aren't they eager? I was thinking about becoming an adventurer, but didn't expect to start my 'glorious' career killing rats." She comments dryly to Timmy.
Gathering at the Giggling Ghost (DM Cayzle) Monday August 31st, 2015 8:27:24 AM
Koh stands up and declares her determination to help out.
Nor makes two, ready to fight. Roland, too, stands up and volunteers."
Amused, Stohp stays seated and makes a funny comment to Timmy. The halfling chuckles and says, "Ain't it the truth, sister!"
Agrippa wants to volunteer, but would a server be taken seriously? She hesitates.
Micah declares his readiness to help, but he has questions for Brassy.
Pesmer too wants to help. He makes the excellent point that a volunteer group can help lift the Fence maybe in ways that would really accomplish something. Privately, he too wonders about Brassy's wild theories. He cannot recall any details except that it is true that some monsters can control rats.
Well, maybe Brassy's ideas are a bit wild. Is there truth to them? He seems sincere. He answers Micah, "It just makes sense, boy! It's something bad, for sure!"
Pearl looks around, smiling. "Well, it seems GOOD fortune has thrown some brave hearts our way!" she says.
Maybe she would say more, but suddenly there is a scream from the kitchens! A demonic scream!
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9 AC: 15/12/12 CMB: +4 Monday August 31st, 2015 5:43:50 PM
Stohp jumps in startlement, causing her reinforced chair to creak ominously - small for a minotaur is still 800 lbs. She starts to get up to go help, but all the strange employees she's seen working here make her hesitate, unsure if some demonic invasion was happening or if one of the stranger waitresses was just startled by something. So she ends up half standing out of her chair, frozen with indecision.
Agrippa (Jacob) d20+5=14 ; Monday August 31st, 2015 6:22:04 PM
Agrippa's heart just about stops. Some o' the maids are in there, is the first thing on her mind. It was only last week when she thought to herself, It's too much o' a habit, wearin' my leather under this servin' dress, but she's counting her blessings now. Agrippa grabs a knife from under the counter (move action) and rushes to the door of the kitchen (move action). She searches her memory for what that sound could possibly be, hoping it's not actually demonic (Knowledge Local 14).
Micah (John) Monday August 31st, 2015 9:20:07 PM
Micah realizes that he was not entirely clear. The purpose of his offer to help was to state that he was not opposed to doing something. However, so far he does not know that something needs to be done and if so what that might be.
His pondering about how to clarify this is interrupted by a demonic scream from the kitchen. He immediately rises (move action?), facing the sound of the scream, and pulls his hammer from his belt, firmly grasping it in both hands (move action).
Norr (David S.) d20+1=6 ; Monday August 31st, 2015 10:20:02 PM
Upon noticing the scream from the kitchen, Norr readies his shield (move action) and draws his axe (move action). While preparing for a potential fight, he listens for anything else suspicious. (Listen 6)
Roland (Andrew) Tuesday September 1st, 2015 1:20:23 AM
Upon hearing the scream from the kitchen, Roland grasps his sledge in hand and rushes to the kitchens (move action), following close behind the half orc serving woman who now seems to be armed as well. Seeing that the serving woman stops at the door, Roland takes it upon himself to open the door (second move action ) and enter the kitchens himself, alone if need be
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) Tuesday September 1st, 2015 7:32:26 AM
Pesmer, hearing the sudden sound of such a demonic scream from the kitchen, practically leaps up from his chair in a heart attack. Having been in such a serious discussion about thieves, vampires and cleaning up the city streets, it was a bit of a shock to hear such a well timed scream.
Seeing several others rush towards the kitchen, Pesmer knew he just had to see what it was that made such a sound. Leaving everything but his spellbook behind (Move action), Pesmer rushes (move action) towards the kitchen door that Roland just opened, his mind remembering his spells and attempting to tune them in to his mental memory in case he needed to sling magic on the fly.
Gathering at the Giggling Ghost (DM Cayzle) Tuesday September 1st, 2015 8:46:48 AM
Agrippa recognizes the source of the screaming, and likely others do too!
Please make a DC10 Int check or Know Local Check (Agrippa gets a +10 on the roll) and then Highlight to display spoiler: {You have heard that the Giggling Ghost employs a huge demon as its cook! She is Brussels, a marilith, that is, a huge woman, snake from the waist down, with six arms, and a true demon. BUT she is a reformed demon, and has vowed to never attack any creature ever again, living, dead, or otherwise. Also, she makes a famous gazpacho. It is surely her scream you hear.}
And as Micah approaches the kitchen doors, he comes face to face with the source of the demonic screams! It is a huge woman, snake from the waist down, with six arms, and surely a DEMON!
Norr, Koh, and Stohp brace themselves or draw weapons.
But why is she wearing an apron and carrying a frying pan, a ladle, a spatula, and a small pot?
Close behind Micah, Roland and Pesmer see that despite being clearly upset, the demon has managed not to spill the sauce in the pot.
Happy rises to his feet and calls out, "Brussels! What is it?!"
Seeing the woman there, Koh tips her head a bit. Fellow cooks? Fellow cooks. She's still on edge, but with the way Happy yells, and...how she excellently handles the sauce pot(Koh has an unparalleled view over everyone's heads), she's reassured. However, exactly what the scream was about is what she needs to find out. She pats Stohp on the back. It's alright, don't panic. Keep a cool head. *thump thump*
Gathering at the Giggling Ghost (DM Cayzle) Tuesday September 1st, 2015 3:09:37 PM
[OOC: If anyone heard of or saw the demon-cook while RPing on the GG Board, feel free to use knowledge gained there on this board.]
Micah (John) d20=8 ; d20+7=21 ; Tuesday September 1st, 2015 10:31:14 PM
Micah has not a clue what a demon is doing in the kitchen (knowledge 8+1), but notices an apparent lack of belligerence and tries to determine what she is up to (sense motive 21) asking, "What seems to be the problem?" He is unaware that he is firmly grasping his hammer in both hands.
Agrippa (Jacob) Tuesday September 1st, 2015 10:43:02 PM
The heavily armored and 'stached man she feared earlier cut her off. Agrippa recoiled at the sight of a Paladin taking up arms against her friend. "Wai, don' hur' her!" were the only words of explanation that she had for him. Agrippa tries to see what caused her to scream, looking through the silhouette of the armored man.
Norr (David S.) d10=6 ; d20=6 ; Wednesday September 2nd, 2015 12:08:53 AM
[OOC: Ignore the d10 roll]
While Norr doesn't recognize the demon (knowledge local 6), he does notice her non-threatening demeanor and lowers his guard, watching the scene unfold.
Roland (Andrew) d20=9 ; Wednesday September 2nd, 2015 2:38:07 AM
When seeing the monstrous woman clad in the clothes of a cook holding a sauce pot and ladle in her many hands, Roland has a look of confusion as to why a demon was making a meal in the Giggling Ghost's Kitchens. When hearing the orc beside him yell not to hurt her, he realizes that she must be an employee of some sort? Using his new found divine powers from Domi, Roland focuses on the demon (move action) to detect evil on her, making sure she isn't here to harm anyone.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) d20+4=17 ; Wednesday September 2nd, 2015 5:28:23 AM
Blinking a few times in confusion, it takes a moment or two of looking upon the huge half snake, six armed woman before it clicked as to who she could was. (Intelligence check 17)
He had never seen Brussels before but had heard from several sources as to who she was. Happy himself had promised, due to Pesmer's pestering, that Pesmer would get a chance to speak with her and document upon her curious history, but such a time hadn't happened as of yet.
Curiously looking about the kitchen room as he peeks in over Micah's shoulder, Pesmer searches for the cause of Brussel's distress.
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9 AC: 15/12/12 CMB: +4 d20+7=25 ; Wednesday September 2nd, 2015 8:12:07 AM
Stohp recognizes the cook immediately, having glimpsed her earlier in the day. This does not help her relax though, as anything scary enough to make a demoness scream was probably very bad news. Wishing she had brought a weapon, she decides to hang back and let the armed and armored guests handle the problem.

Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Top of Round 1) (DM Cayzle) d20+1=16 ; d4=1 ; d20+1=13 ; d4=1 ; d20+1=2 ; d20+1=14 ; d4=2 ; Thursday September 3rd, 2015 8:45:19 AM
Brussels opens her mouth to explain, but following close on her heels, a giant mass of rats piles out of the kitchen after her! Rats! Who woulda seen that coming!?
[OOC: In the Wold, there is no initiative. Basically one side goes, then the other. In general players go in posting order, but you can delay or ready actions normally. Also sometimes the DM will shuffle the order of player actions for better flow or logic. In this fight, the rats go first, and the party is flat-footed, so no attacks of opportunity as the rats approach and run past, for the first round. Player posts will constitute the end of Round 1, and I'll post player results for the end of round 1 and the enemy actions as the top of Round 2 tomorrow. Also, there is no map for this combat. In general, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt if you want to do mappy things like flank, etc. Just post your actions, and I'll adjudicate generously. Also! Please add your AC and Hit Points (current and max) to your header.]
Near the kitchen
Each enemy takes a move action and then makes an attack.
Micah is holding his hammer with both hands when a dire rat bites at him. It hits AC16, and Roland's AC is 15 without his shield, so that's a hit. Roland takes 1 point of damage and must make a DC11 fort save.
Pesmer, curious, peers over Micah's shoulder. he has a great view of the rat-mass that emerges! He has an even better view of the dire rat that stops to snap at him! It hits AC13, a hit, for 1 point of damage and a DC11 fort save.
Roland, having sensed no evil in Brussels, might get a different result on the approaching rodentish creatures. His weapon is ready, though, and the use of it now seems obvious. Since he is under attack. This rat misses with a nat 1.
Agrippa has a dagger in hand. She'll need it too, since a rat is in her face! It hits AC14, and without her dex bonus this round, that's a hit for 2 damage and a DC11 fort save.
Near the meeting table
Each enemy takes two move actions and ends move adjacent to a friend.
Norr has weapon and shield in hand, and he sees a number of big and little rats and two rat-men arriving at the meeting table.
The little rats all swarm towards the turtlemaster. The rat men go for Happy and Olenjack. The other big rats end move next to Norr and others at the table. They have no actions left to make attacks.
Near the kiddie table
Three big rats each take two move actions and is still 20 ft away from the kiddie table.
Both Stohp and Koh see a few really big rats headed their way. Neither has a weapon at hand, but both can use their hands as weapons. That's probably a good thing, because combat is about to happen. If you minotaurs stand still and let the enemy approach, you get an AoO as they come in range.
Player actions for the bottom of Round 1?
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 Thursday September 3rd, 2015 10:58:44 AM (I edited my header, previously I it reflected her stats armed & armored and she isn't. Clearly I should try to disarm the rats :P)
Stohp watches the approaching vermin in alarm, noting how they swarm to keep everyone busy, but too busy herself to think through the implications. Stepping forward, she towers over Timmy, ready to attack anything that approaches to attack either of them.
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 d20+3=19 ; d20+1=15 ; 2d6+3=6 ; d8+1=2 ; Thursday September 3rd, 2015 12:58:29 PM
Norr, too flat-footed to react immediately, makes up for it by quickly attacking one of the rats that moves next to him. Making a full round attack, he swings his axe (hit AC 19), and attempts a gore (hit AC 15). Dealing 6 and 2 damage respectively, if they hit.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 8/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 d20+2=12 ; d20+3=7 ; Thursday September 3rd, 2015 5:06:58 PM
(Fortitude Save: 12) Agrippa is shocked to see a rat jump at her face to take a bite of her cheek. She was incredibly impressed with the maneuver until the pain hit her. Then she was incredibly angry. "I see you like to chew, rat." She brandishes her knife. "How abou' you chew on some steel!" She attempts to skewer, but this rat is no connoisseur of cutlery (Attack Roll: 7).
Agrippa takes a cautious 5-foot step back, preparing for the rat to attack again.
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 13/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) d20+2=20 ; d8+3=5 ; Thursday September 3rd, 2015 8:25:58 PM
Stepping forward, in a solid display of movement, Koh sweeps her leg and punts at the first rat in her range (20 to hit, 5 damage). She bellows, "Rats do not belong in kitchen, and certainly not in dining room!!" She's got a better reach than them, so right now, she can afford to get in close.
(OoC: Forgot that she got Toughness back after readjusting - HP is 13/13, XD.)
Micah (John) HP: 9/10 AC: 15/10/15 d20+4=21 ; d20+2=6 ; Thursday September 3rd, 2015 8:55:21 PM
Micah's doubts about the existence of tangible vermin are evaporated when one bites his thigh! Though painful, the bite does not appear to have penetrated his flesh (Fort Save 21).
He swings mightily at the rat that just bit him. "Rusty anvils!" he exclaims when his poorly aimed hammer smashes noisily into the floor next to the hissing rat.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:12/12/10 d20+2=5 ; d20+8=24 ; Friday September 4th, 2015 5:49:38 AM
Ever so surprised was Pesmer as he was suddenly attacked by an over sized rat! Getting bit, Pesmer lets out a bit of a yell as his body aches. (Fortitude save 5 fail T.T Sad face..)
Taking a five foot step back away from the furry beast, Pesmer quickly casts a spell of protection around himself to help keep back the vermin from his heels..Or torso, as these rats seem very large indeed. (Pesmer casts shield upon himself, increasing his AC by +4 if failing the fortitude save doesn't hinder such an action.)
Pesmer tries to recall what he could about such large rats, focusing on what such a bite from a large rat could mean to his body. (Knowledge Nature: 24)
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Bottom of Round 1) (DM Cayzle) Friday September 4th, 2015 7:52:33 AM
NOTE: Dire Rats are AC14!
Near the kitchen
Brussels high-tails it (in her case, literally) away from the fighting.
Micah misses.
Pesmer takes a step back out of reach and casts a Shield spell (please update AC in header). He recalls from his study of nature that rats carry disease.
Roland seems stunned by the attack, and fails to act.
Agrippa attacks, misses, and steps back.
Near the meeting table
Covered in swarming rats, the TurtleMistress withdraws and flees! She calls out, "Timmy, come on!"
Brassy calls out, "Okay, heroes, here's your chance! Clean these up and we'll talk. After I check on my own inn!" he withdraws too. So does the wizard's apprentice.
Pearl laughs at the people retreating. She pulls a pearl off a nechlace and tosses it at the rat swarm. It changes into a small water elemental and threatens the swarm. "Come on, Happy!" she shouts. "We got this, like in the old days!" The two of them flank a rat-man. Happy picks up a heavy mug and attacks. It lands, but does less damage than you would expect.
Olenjack draws a short sword and also attacks a rat-man.
Norr attacks with horn and ax and kills a rat!
Near the kiddie table
Timmy runs off before the rats arrive.
Koh steps up and knocks a rat reeling. It is at 0 hp.
Stohp waits, ready to attack any that come up. [DM assumes you are using the Ready action.]
Please hold for Top of Round 2 post

Near the kitchen
A rat bites at Micah -- a hit for 1 damage and another DC11 fort save..
Pesmer's rat dashes up and attacks. It misses badly!
A rat nips at Roland and misses.
Agrippa has bad luck: 3 damage more from a bite on her leg.
Near the meeting table
The rat swarm, the two rat-men, and a couple other rats attack NPCs with varying success. No NPC seems in danger yet, but Happy takes a couple wounds.
Another rat lets Brassy go in order to attack Norr. It misses.
Near the kiddie table
The rat at zero creeps off.
The rat aimed at Timmy instead rushes Koh. Koh please make an AoO. If the rat survives that, it will miss (AC4).
The final rat moves 20 ft and attacks Stohp. Please make your AoO AND your readied attack. If the rat survives those punches, it will miss too (AC5).

The rat that she is engaged in followed her movement and bit at her thigh. Taking a diagonal 5-foot step, she will flank the rat with Roland, and attempt to skewer it once more, barely hitting (Attack roll + 2 for flanking: 14; Damage (1d4+1 + 1d6 = 8)). Since I hadn't even started writing my post, I figured it wasn't to late to change my action. If this is unacceptable then let me know so that I'll know better for next time.)
Stohp lashes out at the approaching rat, a pathetic blow with little strength behind it. She's actually a bit surprised when she manages to clip it. It snaps at her hand, but misses as she tries to grab it's tail.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 d20+2=7 ; d4=2 ; Saturday September 5th, 2015 5:53:53 AM
Remembering that such devious overgrown rats have disease, Pesmer lets out a yell, "Careful! These rats might have disease in their bite!".
With the dire rat lunging at Pesmer and bouncing off his near invisible magic shield, Pesmer takes a five foot step back before unleashing a hidden power of his; Summoning up his energies, he thrusts his palm towards the rat as a telekinetic wave of force erupts from his hand to hopefully smash against the vermin. (Telekinetic Fist at Dire rat, ranged touch attack. Rolled a 7 for touch attack against rat.)
Sadly, since Pesmer hadn't used this gift often and was a little rusty, the forceful wave simply missed the rat and lightly slams against the floor, doing 2 damage to some dust.
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 d20+4=10 ; d20+4=18 ; Sunday September 6th, 2015 3:11:49 AM
After the initial shock of seeing the swarm of rats charge into the tavern, Roland lets down a swing towards the giant vermin, only to miss as his hammer bangs against the floor
( Ignore the second roll, accidentally hit the button twice)
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 d20+4=21 ; d20+2=5 ; Sunday September 6th, 2015 8:33:10 PM
The rat continues to nip at Micah this time on raking the skin of his shin. The blood from the wound starts to stain his leggings, but it appears to be superficial (Fort Save 21). Micah continues to be frustrated as turmoil he cannot get a good swing with his hammer in the confines of the doorway(to hit 5). Seeing that Roland is having no better success, he steps toward him to harry the one fighting him (5 foot step to flank with Roland).
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 d20+3=4 ; d20+1=17 ; d8+1=6 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 12:34:20 AM
Seeing no cause to change tactics, Norr dodges the rat's bite and retaliates. His ax swing only grazes the floor, but his horn finds its prey. (6 damage roll)
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Bottom of Round 2) (DM Cayzle) Monday September 7th, 2015 10:16:44 AM

Micah misses his own rat again, and also thinks about flanking Roland's rat, but Agrippa has dispatched it!
Roland Roland tries to return the favor, swinging at Agrippa's rat, and misses.
Pesmer tries a teleknetic blow, but that misses too.
Near the meeting table
Norr kills his second rat in two rounds! He has a moment to breathe with no enemies at the moment.
Norr sees that Pearl and Happy are flanking one rat-man. Olenjack is holding his own against the other. The rat swarm is all over that water elemental.
Near the kiddie table
Koh tries to attack a rat as it wriggles into range, but she misses..
Stohp pokes one and hurts it. Then she tries to grab it, but fails.
Please hold for Top of Round 3 post
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Top of Round 3) (DM Cayzle) d20+1=12 ; d20+1=2 ; d20+1=20 ; d20+1=8 ; d4=3 ; d20+1=7 ; d20+1=5 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 10:23:14 AM

A rat bites at Micah -- misses.
A rat bites at Pesmer -- natural 1, a miss.
A rat bites at Agrippa A nat 20 is a crit threat! Follow up is an 8 so no crit. Agrippa takes 3 more hp damage and must make another fort save.
Near the meeting table
Norr is left alone.
The rat swarm and the water elemental are battering each other, but the elemental is almost destroyed. The two rat-men fighting Pearl, Happy, and Olenjack are giving better than they get, but they are also getting scratched up.
Near the kiddie table
A rat bites at Stohp, hitting only AC7, a miss.
A rat bites at Koh, and misses too.
Player actions for Bottom of Round 3, please.
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 d20+4=18 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 11:30:02 AM
Undeterred by it's snapping teeth, Stohp continues to chase around the rat trying to grab hold of it and squeeze the life from it. As she whirls about she bumps into some of the furniture, knocking it over.
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 d20+3=12 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 12:20:51 PM
Norr moves and tries to flank one of the rat-men attacking the others. He swings his ax, hitting (AC 14) if he succeeds in flanking.
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 13/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) d20+1=2 ; d20+1=7 ; d8+3=4 ; d8+3=5 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 12:23:40 PM
(Miss at a Nat. 1 and a 7 with Flurry of Blows.)
Punching at the boards, Koh finds she's having much more trouble than she should with one rat - glancing around, she sees that maybe this isn't the priority - the ratmen are much bigger, and seem to be doing damage. Cripes. But she can't just let this rat get at the kid, either...
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 2d6+3=13 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 12:25:19 PM
(OOC: I forgot to put a damage roll.)
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 2/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 d20+5=18 ; d6=5 ; d4+1=4 ; d20+5=15 ; d20+7=17 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 5:04:08 PM
Suffering a third bite, Agrippa is nearing the end of her ropes. She unconsciously wished her backpack was near her; a potion and an axe would have been handy. Trying once more to finish this mouse off, her blow meets! (Standard - Attack roll: 18; Damage: 9)
If the rat died from this attack, Agrippa will attempt to perceive if there is still rats in the kitchen where she put her backpack (Perception : 15). If it seems safe, she'll use her move action to move 30' to her backpack. If it's not safe, she'll observe the scene before her, going into stealth behind the bar (Stealth: 17), in wait to ambush the rat closest to Timmy (I think that's the one currently engaged with Koh).
If the rat didn't die from this attack, Agrippa will see if a chair or stool is within 5 feet of her behind the bar. If so, she'll take a 5-foot step towards it, and use a move action to place it in front of her, using it as cover. If there is no chairs near her, she'll stay put to continue flanking the rat with Roland.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 2/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 d20+2=14 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 5:17:03 PM
(Forgot to roll my Fortitude save: 14)
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 2/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 d20+2=7 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 8:09:06 PM
(ooc: I just realized I didn't make my 2nd fortitude roll from the 2nd bite. Fortitude: 7, fail)
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 d20+2=11 ; Monday September 7th, 2015 9:32:50 PM
Micah continues to swing at the rat, unable to connect (To hit 11). Seeing that Agrippa has been seriously wounded, he tries to move (5 ft step) to cover a potential withdrawal by her without letting up on the rat he is still struggling with.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 Tuesday September 8th, 2015 2:15:46 AM
With a mix of frustration and amusement that the rat he battles cannot seem to hit him much nor can he hit it, Pesmer decides to risk going for his staff to fight off this foul vermin. Taking the attack of opportunity, Pesmer moves towards the Kiddie table as he tries to dodge incoming bites. Once at the table, Pesmer picks up his quarterstaff as he arms himself.
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Bottom of Round 3) (DM Cayzle) d20+1=9 ; Tuesday September 8th, 2015 5:37:24 PM
NOTE: Dire Rats are AC14! Small ratmen are AC15!
Near the kitchen
Agrippa kills another rat, then moves to her backback. She'll be at the kiddie table next post.
Micah keeps on trying, with bad luck again.
Pesmer moves to the kiddie table, provoking an AoO as he moves. The rat attacks, but misses; it does not follow. At the kiddie table, Pesmer equips his staff.
Roland looks around for a target. Here near the kitchen, there are only two dire rats left; attacking Micah and himself.
Near the meeting table
Norr moves to flank with Olenjack, and he just misses.
Near the kiddie table
Koh continues to attack a rat, but misses twice. She notices that Timmy has made a clean get-a-way, at least.
Stohp finishes off her rat, by dropping a chair on it!
Please hold for Top of Round 4 post
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Top of Round 4) (DM Cayzle) d20+1=16 ; d4=1 ; d20+1=11 ; d20+1=20 ; d4=2 ; Tuesday September 8th, 2015 5:46:51 PM
NOTE: Dire Rats are AC14; Rat-folk are AC15.
Near the kitchen - Micah and Roland are each fighting a rat.
A rat bites at Micah -- hits AC16 for 1 hp damage and a fort save vs DC11.
A rat bites at Roland -- a miss.
Near the meeting table - Norr and Olenjack are flanking a ratman; Happy and Pearl are flanking another; and a water elemental is fighting a rat-swarm.
Norr is not attacked. Olenjack looks like he has taken several cuts, but he's a tough old blackmith. Happy is starting to look shaky. Pearl is untouched. The water elemental and the swarm keep trading blows. Does the elemental even affect the rats? At least the swarm is occupied.
Near the kiddie table - Stohp, Koh, Agrippa, and Pesmer are here, fighting one rat.
A rat bites at Koh, and hits AC20 for 2 damage and a DC11 fort save.
Player actions for Bottom of Round 4, please.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 4/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 d8+1=2 ; Tuesday September 8th, 2015 7:52:05 PM
Having arrived in the Kitchen, Agrippa kneels next to her pack and finds her potion (move action). She checks in on Brussels who should be in here too, while quaffing the contents (2 hp back). Looking at the chaos outside, it appears Happy isn't looking too good. She decides not to find her axe, and prepares to ambush the rat-man attacking him.
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 d20+4=23 ; d20+2=15 ; d8+3=10 ; Tuesday September 8th, 2015 8:22:10 PM "By Domi!" Micah shouts as he brings his hammer down with both hands mightily (Hit AC 15 for 10 points) on the head of the rat that has been biting him, not even noticing the new wound left by this persistent vermin. Fortunately, this too appears to have been a superficial bite (Save 23).
(OOC: the +3 on damage is from wielding the hammer two handed.)
Grunting from the pain, Koh wiggles her leg, trying to smack the latched blighter against the underside of a table. "Get...off! Why must be so small?! Gah!" And here she thought she was doing so well! At the very least, her focus is improved with Timmy out of harm's way. "Stohp! Tiny thing! Your specialty!" Help!
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Top of Round 4) (DM Cayzle) Tuesday September 8th, 2015 8:45:57 PM
OOC: Sorry, forgot Agrippa's pack was in the kitchen rather than at the kiddie table. Note that Brussels had escaped up stairs, not back to the kitchen, so the kitchen is now empty.
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 d20+4=6 ; Tuesday September 8th, 2015 9:43:19 PM
Having accidentally killed the rat she was fighting via chair, Stohp quickly moves to help her sister. She snatches at the rat, trying to grab hold of it (Grapple Check), but misses as it scurries further up Koh's leg.
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 d20+5=21 ; 2d6+3=8 ; d20+3=22 ; d8+1=5 ; Tuesday September 8th, 2015 10:36:06 PM
Norr continues the flanking plan and has much better luck, hitting the rat-man with both ax and horn with ease.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 d20+2=14 ; d6+2=8 ; Wednesday September 9th, 2015 5:08:41 AM
With Quarterstaff in hand, Pesmer moves to try and flank the rat that is attacking Roland, figuring ganging up on the furry beasts would be a smarter idea. If Pesmer cannot get flanking position against the rat, he will attempt to get to it as close as possible for the next round over.
Either way, Pesmer swings down the end of his staff against the furry vermin! Thanks to his physical enchantment he placed upon his muscles this morning during spell study, Pesmer hits that much harder even without the flanking bonus. (Hit with a 14, 16 with flanking.) Doing 8 points of damage against the skittering fiend, the blow connects against the rats skull with great force!
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 d20+4=6 ; Wednesday September 9th, 2015 1:30:53 PM
Roland Swings at the Dire Rat at his heels and misses wildly [6 to hit], unable to connect a blow with the beast.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 4/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 Wednesday September 9th, 2015 5:42:53 PM
During the fight, Agrippa noticed Koh accidentally banging his head when attempting a gore attack. She resisted the urge to say, "...Is that why your last name is Shatterhorn?' She makes a mental note if everyone survives the fight to make such a joke... because it wouldn't be funny if someone died.
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 11/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) Wednesday September 9th, 2015 8:28:32 PM
And Koh would be insulted at the insinuation she's a man. Either way, she's letting loose a high-pitched bellowing shriek, batting at her skirt. Not up there not up there!!!
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 Wednesday September 9th, 2015 9:00:58 PM
Micah realizes he interjected "Rusty Anvils" earlier. Despite the alarm he feels in the midst of this combat, his mind lingers on where he learned this phrase. When growing up, he and his siblings always managed to be near their father's forge, sometimes doing something constructive, often not. Inevitably, a cinder would fly out singeing exposed flesh or a hammer would strike something softer than iron. Regardless of the cause, being sensitive to the impressionable young years near by, these words, rather than something less gentle, were what erupted from his father's lips on such an occasion.
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Bottom of Round 4) (DM Cayzle) Wednesday September 9th, 2015 10:53:39 PM
NOTE: Dire Rats are AC14! Small ratmen are AC15!
Near the kitchen
Agrippa draws a potion and drinks it. NOTE WOLD HOUSE RULE: All rolls for healing reroll 1s. So please reroll that nat 1 on the cure potion.
Micah finally kills his rat.
Roland swings and misses.
But Pesmer, rushing to his aid, staff in hand, crushes the small vermin.
Near the meeting table
Norr hits twice solidly, but neither blow lands any damage! How odd! He sees that Olenjack has been hitting hard, but only small amounts of damage seem to land for each mighty blow!
Near the kiddie table
Koh swings and misses.
Stohp misses too!
Please hold for Top of Round 5 post
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Top of Round 5) (DM Cayzle) d20+1=21 ; d20+1=7 ; d4=1 ; Wednesday September 9th, 2015 11:01:38 PM
NOTE: Dire Rats are AC14; Rat-folk are AC15.
Near the kitchen - Micah, Pesmer, and Roland here with no enemies. Agrippa is in the kitchen doorway
Near the meeting table - Norr and Olenjack are flanking a ratman; Happy and Pearl are flanking another; and a water elemental is fighting a rat-swarm.
Norr is not attacked. Olenjack takes another hit. Happy and Pearl combine to finally wear their foe down, and it dies. The water elemental and the swarm are each almost dead, as it turns out - the bludgeoning elemental is having an effect.
The last ratman standing withdraws from combat. He moves away from Olenjack, giving Norr a free atack of opportunity as it heads for the door.
Near the kiddie table - Stohp, Koh, and one last rats are left.
The rat bites at Koh -- a crit threat with a nat 20, following up with a 7, no confirm. 1 damage and a fort save, please.
Player actions for Bottom of Round 5, please.
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 10/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) d20+4=16 ; d20+1=13 ; d20+1=7 ; Thursday September 10th, 2015 12:31:42 AM
(Fort. Save 16, 2 Missed Attacks)
Swatting at her skirt, Koh is just painfully-embarrassed, shocked, and it's biting her again. She falls on her bum with a resounding *WHUD* on the floorboards. "Getitoff getitoff getitoffffffff!!!" This is probably the most girly and whiney that she's ever been in front of anyone, including her sister.
Agrippa shakes her head, ridding herself of the thought that only men can fight as valiantly and as effec- and then she saw her freak out. Since Koh appears to be in fair health, Agrippa prioritizes the ratman attempting to flee.
Priority #1: If she can reach it with her 30' move to attack (or position herself between it and the door with two moves), she will. (Attack roll = 12, miss)
" #2: If neither options are available, or put her at risk from attacks of opportunity, she will move to flank the rat on Koh to attack. (If flanked, attack roll = 14, Damage: 8)
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 d20+2=22 ; d20+2=18 ; 2d4=4 ; Thursday September 10th, 2015 7:40:00 AM
With all the rats near the kitchen dead, Pesmer turns his attention to the two remaining foes. Seeing one rat attacking Koh and a ratman now running for its life, Pesmer has to make a sudden choice on who to target.
Figuring that the Minotaur will be able to handle herself, Pesmer moves closer but not all the way up to the fleeing Ratman. Summoning his magical energies once more, Pesmer is determined not to let the ratman escape. Unleashing a wave of force against the furry beast, his telekinetic blast crits against the back of the ratman, slamming against him with powerful effect. (Crit with a nat. 20 and confirmed against his touch with a 18. Damage is 4, as I did 2d4 and rolled a 4. I hope I did that right, heh..)
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 d20+4=14 ; d20+4=5 ; Thursday September 10th, 2015 8:16:14 AM (Hoping this still counts as Wednesday post!)
Stohp makes a mental note to remind her sister of this moment the next time they have the skirt vs pants argument. She wants to grab the rat and yank it out of Koh's clothing, but is more than a little uncomfortable sticking her hand up the skirt, leaving her to grab ineffectually every time she glimpses a tail or other part sticking out (14 to grapple, not sure if that hits or not.).
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 d20+3=8 ; Thursday September 10th, 2015 9:09:29 AM
Norr uses the rat-man's attempt to flee as a chance to strike once more! He misses completely, however..
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 Thursday September 10th, 2015 6:23:24 PM
Seeing the ratman is about to escape, Micah turns to face him, takes a deep breath and, filling his voice with the full force of his faith, shouts, "FALL!" (Command: Will DC14 or fall prone)
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 d20+4=5 ; Thursday September 10th, 2015 10:05:09 PM
Seeing that the Ratman fleeing has the attention of most of the patrons in the room, Roland turns to helping the two Minotaur Women. He rushes to their aid and attempts to grab the rats tail to pull it off of her, apologizing in embarrassment from having to get so close to her skirts. As he goes to grab the rat he misses terribly [Natural 1+4=5] and something even more embarrassing ensues [DMs: Do what thou wilt with that natural 1 to grab at a rat under Koh's skirts...]
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Battle Ends) (DM Cayzle) Friday September 11th, 2015 12:39:10 AM
Agrippa and Stohp work together to take out Koh's rat.
Roland tries to help too ... well, it is the thought that counts, right?
Norr swings and misses the fleeing ratman, but Pesmer's telekinetic punch tears through the monster's damage reduction and knocks it down. Micah was ready to cast a spell on it, but no matter.
Pearl, Happy, and Olenjack finish off the swarm.
And the battle is over!
==========
Happy looks around at the mess. He sees that Shimmer is already getting out the mops and buckets. "OY!" he says, "Well, friends, you've stood and fought while your betters ran. I think you've got the job!"
Koh Shatterhorn HP: 10/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16(Raine) Friday September 11th, 2015 1:58:38 AM
Quietly, Koh has a hand on Roland's head. She has a look that makes people cower - she is mortified, and he has his hand up her skirt. "Three seconds. Pull hand out or I pull head up." Also distinctly embarrassed, and she shoots Stohp a look that states that if she EVER brings this up again, this offer extends to her. T.T
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 Friday September 11th, 2015 3:21:11 AM
Panting a bit, Pesmer was ever so surprised to see his telekinetic blast actually hit its mark and take something out. He would be more proud and cheery if he wasn't ever so tired. Walking past the awkward display of Koh and Roland, Pesmer bats not even an eye as he sits down at the kiddie table, his head now resting against the wooden top.
"We..Did it." He breathed out as a soft chuckle left his lips. It was then that the rat bite upon his side reminded him that it was still there. "Ow...Oh,right.. Everyone who got bit should see a healer. Rats carry disease." He reminded everyone as he pulled up his robe a bit to inspect his wound, seeing for himself just how bad the damage was. "These are my favorite robes.." He chuckles to himself, seeing the gash upon his robes the rats teeth had made.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 6/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 Friday September 11th, 2015 11:25:05 AM
Agrippa looks at herself. Blood dripped down her gown in two places, and her pants will need a restitching too. She stows her used potion bottle, puts her bloody knife with the rest of the dirty dishes, and heads to Happy. "Did it seem odd to you tha' they seemed to go fer' Pearl 'n Olenjack?" Agrippa whispers. "And also, you don' mean me too, when you say, 'you've got the job,' do ye?"
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 d20+1=20 ; Friday September 11th, 2015 5:18:05 PM
Norr spends several moments nearly rooted in place as he looks for any rat-related rabble that may remain. (Perception 20) After this search, he joins those at the kiddie table, no worse for wear..
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 Friday September 11th, 2015 6:40:36 PM
Stohp looks about at the damage done by the groups wild flailing. Several new holes adorn the floor, she apparently stepped on and crushed a small char, and Koh either fell on another chair or splintered the floor on impact. Catching her sister's look, she decides to join Shimmer in cleaning up.
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Battle Ends) (DM Cayzle) Saturday September 12th, 2015 7:30:44 AM
[OOC: No Micah? No Roland? Alas.]
Happy grins at Agrippa. "I did not see any others of my servers jumping into the fight. I think that says something about you, kid. Maybe an adventuring life is more your speed?"
Meanwhile, Koh, Stohp, and Roland get themselves sorted out. Norr sees no sign of any other rat activity. He and Pesmer take a seat, a bit amazed at how that went.
When all is said and done, Happy and Pearl look at each other. "Just like the old days, hey Happy?" she says. Happy reaches back and puts his hands on his back. "My lumbago reminds me that those days were long ago, Pearl. What we really need is a NEW adventuring group to help with this mess -- and others like it."
"Yeah," she agrees, with a sparkle in her eye. "They would not be beholden to the level or this group of businesses, but if treated right, they would help with future problems. And that would help keep people safer too.. Like we used to."
Happy looks the group of you over. “Well what about these youngsters here? They fought well against the rats! And they have the enthusiasm.”
"Do you young heroes want to make an adventuring group of yourselves?"
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 Saturday September 12th, 2015 7:44:14 AM
Hearing over Happy and Pearls conversation, Pesmer looks to the group as they are asked such an important question. He had wished to adventure and see the world but had become a bit complacent with himself and his living situation in The Float. Maybe this was the kick he needed to continue his research in transmutation magic and make a rather decent name for himself.
Thinking a moment on this, he would raise his hand slightly as if to throw in a yes. " I am interested. There is plenty of magic and wonder to be explored and experienced with adventuring and...Well, the idea of making people safer is a noble cause. I throw my spellbook into this adventuring group. Maybe we could make a real difference in this place if we work together." Says the wizard as he looks about to see who is interested in this offer.
Koh Shatterhorn(Alex F.) HP: 10/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16 Saturday September 12th, 2015 3:52:43 PM
Finally sorted, Koh is helping to clean up now. Ah, well, hmm. "Who would lead us?" She's already thrown in her towel to this, but even if she was one of the first to interject before this mess...
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 Sunday September 13th, 2015 1:18:55 PM
Upon hearing her sisters words Stohp bends lower over her broom and continues to sweep, trying to look as un-leader-like as possible.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 6/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 d20+1=10 ; Sunday September 13th, 2015 5:58:50 PM
Hearing Happy's words made Agrippa... content. Nodding, she took off her bloodied apron, saying, "I'll get this cleaned 'fore returnin' it." Finding her pack, she put the apron in one of her extra sacks, folding the apron to conceal the blood before stowing. This wasn't exactly how she expected her adventuring lifestyle to begin, but...
When Happy asked who would lead the party, her hand started shaking. She opened her mouth... and closed it again. A half-orc? A woman? A barmaid? I... won' be taken seriously, she thought to herself. She didn't have the will to announce her intentions at this point, but someday in the future, maybe (failed Will save).
Agrippa gathered her pack and joined the bitten band; ears perked for who would step forward.
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 d20+7=27 ; d20+7=25 ; Sunday September 13th, 2015 8:17:34 PM
Seeing that all appears to be safe, Micah quietly and calmly assesses all who are injured. When talk of forming a group and questions of leadership arise, he looks up trying to discern the reactions of his unexpected comrades in arms (Sense Motive 27).
OOC: rules question: for future reference, should I anticipate success or wait for DM confirmation?
Upon hearing Pesmer's concern about disease, he starts tending to those who haven been bitten, trying to clean and dress wounds as best he can starting with Pesmer (Heal Check 25).
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 Sunday September 13th, 2015 11:50:57 PM
Norr stands and joins the cleaning effort, putting things back into place, removing debris and the like. He shows no sign of being interested in a leadership position.
Koh Shatterhorn (Alex F.) HP: 10/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16 Monday September 14th, 2015 5:04:32 AM
Looking around, Koh notes that...hmm. She sees that her question lies ignored. She straightens herself. She's not exactly good with all people. She's maybe not as astute as some. But... "Then would you follow me?" ...she's the one standing. Willing. "I would protect new home, good people, if you would all have me lead."
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 6/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 d20+1=12 ; Monday September 14th, 2015 5:32:16 PM
Agrippa thinks to herself, then shakes her head. Thumbing her canines, she states, "Yer certainly good-heart'ed an' stron'-willed. I'll follow tha'"
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 Monday September 14th, 2015 9:29:29 PM
After all of the confusion from the combat, Roland too goes about helping cleaning up the tavern, removing corpses and putting back tables. Upon hearing Happy's comment regarding becoming adventurers, Roland nods his head in agreement "If I can help the Float in any way I can, I am willing to lend a hand or hammer." He is determined to shine brighter next time the opportunity arise, feeling quite the failure in the fight against the rats. When Koh suggests that there should be a leader, Roland laughs and says " Preferably not me, I'm just glad to be on the team "
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 Monday September 14th, 2015 9:35:43 PM "I will serve where I am needed," Micah says as he continues to occupy himself with tending to the wounded. He is content to let Koh take the lead if no one else should step up and signifies so with a subtle nod and a smile to her as he moves to the next injury. His preference is to have others take the responsibility of such a mantle to free him up to do his work.
Once he has finished with tending torn flesh, he approaches Pesmer. "Might I help with that?" he asks gesturing to Pesmer's torn robe. Upon receiving consent, he softly says a prayer and moves his hand as if manipulating an invisible needle while the robe weaves itself together erasing the tooth made tear.
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 Monday September 14th, 2015 11:22:13 PM
Stohp is a little leery of the overall reaction in the group. No one really knows each other, their skills, or is at all used to working with a team as far as she can tell. Selecting a leader seems premature. Still, Koh seems intent on taking up the task, and Stohp always backs up her sister.
"Guess that makes me 2nd in command..." she mutters quietly to herself.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 Monday September 14th, 2015 11:50:08 PM
(I believe a 25 for Micah's heal check on Pesmer gives him a +4 on his fortitude save to fight off the poison. Let me know when I should roll my fortitude save. ^.^)
Pesmer hears Koh's question and begins to think upon it before noticing Micah approach. Smiling, Pesmer willingly allows Micah to treat his bite wound before speaking. "Thank you, my friend, for tending to my wound. You seem to have great skill in the art of healing." Blinking some, Pesmer watched with amazement as Micah magically fixes his torn robe, leaving now a scratch upon the fine fabric. "Many a gift you have, it seems! I must repay you for the kind service you have offered me." Pesmer spoke with a smile before turning his attention back to Koh's question.
As he watched each soul speak of their desire or lack there of for leadership, Pesmer thinks upon his own desires for a few moments before speaking out. "I do not seek leadership of this group. I do not oppose Koh stepping up and taking the title if she so deserves, but I truly believe electing a leader now is a bit hasty. We do not all know one another well. We do not know each others capabilities, personalities or motives. I say we stick together as a group without a leader until there comes a time when the moment calls for one. Again, if the group desires Koh, I will not oppose. I just don't believe a leader is very necessary right now." Pesmer tries to speak as clearly as he possibly could, not wishing to step on toes or cause upset but wishing to get his point across at the very least.
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 Tuesday September 15th, 2015 12:10:05 AM
Norr listens to everyone's comments before finally breaking his silence, saying, "I'd also say we may not need a leader for now, but if we want one, Koh should serve well." He then continues to help with the mess.
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Battle Ends) (DM Cayzle) Tuesday September 15th, 2015 12:18:06 AM [OOC: Please allow your DM to report the result of perception, knowledge, and sense motive rolls. In general, your fellow PCs are immune to such skill checks, except insofar as all involved wish to roleplay it.]
Happy and Pearl put it to you assembled here: Will you become a band of adventurers and help the Fence Level of the Big Float?
Pesmer is first: "I am interested. ... I throw my spellbook into this adventuring group."
Agrippa answers by standing forth with her peers.
Koh seems on board, but wants to know who will lead the group. Then she answers her own question: "Would you follow me? ... I would protect new home, good people, if you would all have me lead."
Roland answers the core question: "If I can help the Float in any way I can, I am willing to lend a hand or hammer." He seems content, as does Agrippa, to let Koh stand as first among equals.
Micah's answer is also humble. "I will serve where I am needed," he says. Micah is too busy working on rat bites to say much more, but he keeps his ears open. He senses that both Happy and Pearl are sincere.
Norr too busies himself and does not put himself forward.
Stohp seemingly has no desire to lead, and keeps her head down. She seems to be the most reluctant to see this group form, ironically, maybe, since her sister seems most eager.
Pesmer seems to agree. He has no problem with Koh as leader, but thinks they should get to know each other better before setting that decision in stone.
Pearl looks around, and then says, "Great! Go get whatever gear you might have, and be back here in time for breakfast tomorrow morning, those of you who want in. We'll talk about what to do next then."
Koh Shatterhorn (Alex F.) HP: 10/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16 Tuesday September 15th, 2015 2:11:02 AM "It is matter of having tactician. Like...warchief, directing. Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 Tuesday September 15th, 2015 3:45:06 PM "Forgive me if this sounds too harsh.." Pesmer began to speak as he cleared this throat a bit, trying to find the best way as to say what he wished to say. "But I think we should wait before deciding. I do not know you much, Koh, amd I really do think its too early to decide who leads and who follows. My vote is to give it time. I cannot know if you truly will be a good leader and to rush someone to that position could spell disaster. I say we just act as a group, be equals, learn about one another and use our instincts until having a leader is an absolute must. Again, if I am outvoted, I will not complain. I am thankful to be a part of this group as I think many of us are."
Listening to Pearl as she spoke, Pesmer nods as he stands, extending his hand out to shake Micah's. "Thank you for healing my wound and clothe, Micah. However I can pay you back, just let me know." Pesmer then begins to gather up his backpack, books and quarterstaff.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 6/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 Tuesday September 15th, 2015 5:47:14 PM
Snickering at Koh, and nodding at Pesmer, Agrippa will finish tidying up.
Agrippa recalled several conversations with Stohp not to long ago in this Tavern. After her final chore is done here, she'll grab her bag and intends to head back to her mother's house.
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 Tuesday September 15th, 2015 10:26:36 PM

Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 Tuesday September 15th, 2015 10:48:07 PM
Stohp finishes sweeping and picks up the furniture she knocked over during the fight. She finds herself extremely tired, but she's not sure if Koh is ready to leave yet. So she sits down on a chair backwards to wait, however long that will be.
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 Tuesday September 15th, 2015 10:48:38 PM
"I have to agree with Pesmer on this one. We have only seen one bout of combat and we have no idea how we'll fare in the next one. Electing a leader seems hasty, maybe one will reveal themselves when needed, but as of now we might do better to learn about one another first" Roland says as politely as he can. He is fine with this Koh assuming leadership if she shows the aptitude, but until he can see it in action he cannot be too sure "I swear my service to the city, not to one I hardly know"
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 d6=3 ; Tuesday September 15th, 2015 10:57:05 PM "Wait," states Micah as people start to disperse, "If we plan to take action, some of us are injured more than a night's rest might heal. I think Domi would approve of us calling upon him in such times as these.. After making sure no enemies might be inadvertently benefited by what he is about to do, Micah grasps his amulet with both hands lifting it as high as its chain will allow. A warm glow emanates from his charm touching those wounded with healing light.
To Pesmer, he asks, "You seem knowledgeable in many things. Do you know why those rat men seemed hard to injure?"
He suggests to Roland and Olenjack they return together as this area seems less safe than a short while ago.

Koh finds her bid for the leader job is opposed by Pesmer and Roland. Well, even the closest groups take more than a day to gel.
Before the group disperses, Micah offers everybody an extra 3 hp of healing as he channels energy.
Norr is first to offer polite farewells. He'll be back tomorow.
Stohp and Agrippa work on helping Happy to set the place back to rights. Then he offers his thanks, and makes arrangements for all the dead bodies.
The night passes, maybe the last night as a civilian ... and the day dawns, maybe your first day as adventurers?
Back at the Giggling Ghost, Happy, Pearl, and Brassy meet the party.
"Speaking on behalf of the group of us business folk here on the Fence, we want you to be a real adventuring group. That means no other jobs, and you have a presence in the neihborhood as well as doing your good works and heroic deeds and what have you. Your faces as much as your deeds will inform the criminal element that there is a new force in town to protect the people."
We talked among ourselves, and we agreed that you can't make the Giggling Ghost your base. Too many other heroes in here to steal your thunder. And what not. But you can pick the Fatted Calf or the Brass Toad will take you in, so you do not have to worry about room and board."
Your first job will be to figure out where those rats came from and put a stop to them."
"So, any questions?"
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 Wednesday September 16th, 2015 8:34:19 AM
Stohp got up early and is already deep in her meal by the time the rest arrive and Happy starts addressing them. As he starts talking she stops to listen, spoon halfway to her mouth.
"Wait a second, 'no other jobs'? Look, I'm happy to help solve this rat problem and anything else that comes up, but you can't honestly expect us all to drop everything to run around town every day fighting people. There won't always be some crisis to avert and we've got our own professional interests. I've worked the last two years on my carpentry, planning to open a store one day, and I'm not abandoning that just because some damned thieves guild learned how to charm rats."
She pounds her fist on the table lightly to emphasize her last statement. Unfortunately she forgot the spoon of porridge in her hand, causing it to splatter the table, herself, and Koh.

Sigh. Looking down at the porridge on her shirt, Koh picks it off carefully. Not like this shirt hasn't seen enough stains and food - she figured she'd wear her cooking attire for now and just use a new outfit for cleaning. Although, that being said, she's conspicuously wearing shorts, now, that go over her knees, and also seem to be buckled down in an improvised fashion with a couple of spare cloth ties. She isn't getting any kind of bonus for her fashion taste.
"Sister, I believe we are to clean up district in general. Make safer for carpentry shop later on. Besides, can stay in Fatted Calf, as were before." She's having a bit more trouble with language today, but it's mostly because she's excited. "Besides, who says all is fighting? May need sneaking. May need talking. Is why we have diverse group." And diverse equipment - her bag rattles as she pats it next to her.
She's finished a few bowls of the porridge, herself, starting the day with a good breakfast. Truth be told, she's been restless, and now... I can fight on my own terms, now. This is something I want to do - it has benefit, it helps these people. The people who trust me and accept me, and Stohp...even after my disgraces. Musing, though, Koh looks at the other people. Earn her spot, hmm...?

Agrippa attempted to use the rest of the day gathering information on Pearl and these rat sightings as possible before seeing them again the next day (Diplomacy - "Gather information": 18). When the night was upon her, she headed back home to fill in her mother on what happened, saying not to expect as much of her presence or coin as before.
The next morning, she woke up sneezing (Fortitude save: 5, Failed). It felt like a hang-over, but she knew it all too well from the Trash level; Filth Fever. She strung a cloth over her mouth and headed to the bar.
When Happy (she's assuming) asked, "...any questions?" she opens her mouth to respond, until Stohp splattered porridge among the table. After Koh's rebuttal, Agrippa adds, "Koh's go' i' righ' <*Sniff>. An' they're righ' to expec' us to focus on it and only it, I think." Agrippa eyes Ms. Glowerin and Mr. MgGruk. "With all this attention-grabbin' the rats are doin' is makin' the Fence level look bad to everyone above us. They migh' think, 'Flush two levels nex' time' if they catch wind o' it. We need to catch these rats 'fore people start talkin' too much upstairs, n' businesses here are de... de... de-F@#ed." Agrippa sneezed out the last word into her mouth cloth (defamed). She excuses herself to replace it with a kerchief.
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 d20=11 ; d20=14 ; Wednesday September 16th, 2015 7:20:41 PM
Roland arrived at the Giggling Ghost on time and started his day with a hearty meal. Upon hearing that they will be expected to resign all other jobs, Roland is visibly taken aback " Now I said last night that I would be glad to help out the Float in anyway I can, but I never agreed to quitting working at the forge. That's my livelihood, and I can't be expected to quit it all together"
Upon hearing that they must choose a base of operations, Roland tries to remember his best about the two establishments, (Kn:Local untrained for both)
In regards to locating the rats, Roland asks "Well it's likely they came down from the Fence, but where exactly? Does anyone know who or what can be sending them up here?" Roland shudders of the thought of vampires and evil druids, expecting the source of these rats to be nothing less than nefarious.
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 Wednesday September 16th, 2015 8:47:48 PM
Micah spent the evening explaining the situation to his parents who had already accepted the fact that his calling would take him away. He spends hours in conference with his mentor, Brother Altus, and after much prayer returns home to pack and prepare for whatever the day may bring.
He listens attentively to what the business leaders propose, confident that this is his current calling. He has no preference for a base of operations and says so, willing to let others more informed than he make the decision.
In reply to the query he asks, "Do we have any idea when these rats first started appearing? Is there any location they seem to be more common? And a final question: any idea who would benefit from these attacks?"
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 7/8 AC:16/12/14 d20+8=19 ; d20+8=19 ; Wednesday September 16th, 2015 10:20:50 PM
To Micah's question the day before, Pesmer would reply with, "Let me study my books at home and I might be able to answer your question when we all meet for breakfast tomorrow." With that said, Pesmer would return to his home for the evening and go over his books, searching for any information he had on Ratmen and their powerful dire rats. (Knowledge Nature check on Ratmen is 19 and 19 on Dire rats. Haha, rolled two 11's +8. I wasn't sure if this was nature or arcane.)
Returning to The Giggling Ghost the next day, Pesmer shares with Micah what he knew of Ratmen natural defenses as well as what he knew of Dire Rats.
Listening in on what Pearl, Happy and Brassy have to say, he nods a bit before taking in what everyone else has to put forward. When it was his turn to speak, Pesmer has his book open to his right and his eating a bit of soup with his left hand. "I do not care where we have our base of operations at but I think both the Brass Toad and the Fatted Calf for opening up their inns for us to rest at. I am curious, like everyone else, how we will get paid. You say we cannot have other jobs, curiously, but are we to be paid for being the face of justice for The Fence Level?"
Taking a moment to eat a bit of soup, Pesmer happily chows down before speaking with an empty mouth once more. "I say we take a trip down to the lower level and ask about. Gather information with the locals there and see if anyone has heard anything or witnessed gatherings of rat and rogue."
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 Wednesday September 16th, 2015 11:30:49 PM
Norr enters the Giggling Ghost and unceremoniously takes a seat at one of the tables. He orders and eats soup while listening to the others discuss possible courses of action and the stipulations the businesspeople have set.
He makes no comment; the others ask about any points he might have wanted clarification on.

Pesmer only Please Highlight to display spoiler: {You deduce that the rat-men were likely lycanthrope of some kind, seeing as they were resistant to damage except for silver damage.}
===== ===== =====
The local group of business leaders wants to sponsor these young heroes as an adventuring group. But can you be an adventurer and still keep your day job?!
Stohp is not ready to give up her carpentry.
Koh tries to reassure her sister, and mentions the range of skills a good group possesses.
Agrippa, infected with some disease inflicted by rat bite, nonetheless agrees with Koh and Happy.
Roland is also not ready to step away from the forge.
Micah agrees that a single-focus on the job of being an adventurer is key. He gets right to business and asks a few sharp questions.
Pesmer wants to know about being paid, among other things.
Norr is content to listen for the answers.
Happy grins and gets down to it.
'First off, you know lots of heroes had hobbies. Vauhwyt of Blackbird Lake was a stone carver. Captain Brahman of the Chosen was a tattoo artist. Tishe of the South was a great weaver. So of course, keep your avocations. But if you are successful, your rewards as a hero will far far outpace your earnings from some mundane occupation. Do as you like, but make sure you give no sign of favoritism or indenture to some other bsuiness or master."
"Second, speaking of rewards, each of you will get 250 gp as a reward for solving this mystery and resolving this situation. Plus what you find! I saved aside these two swords from yesterday, consider that a start."
Happy looks around and sees that some in the group are looking under the weather. "But before all that," says Happy, "first go visit the Turtlemistress, and she will look at you."
Koh Shatterhorn (Alex F.) HP: 13/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16 Thursday September 17th, 2015 2:24:16 AM
Swords, huh? Koh isn't much interested in that, but she does take note: Roland works a forge, and they already met Agrippa. Micah is a go-getter, and Pesmer is...well, in for the money. Well that's good to know. "Should we wear uniforms?" Mostly to the group as a whole - they could stand to look like they're together in some way or another.
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 Thursday September 17th, 2015 2:30:24 AM
Hearing that Roland will not have to step away from the forge for good, he lets out a sigh of relief. He is excited to start his new life as an adventurer, but the idea of leaving his old life behind so completely made him uneasy. " Good questions Brother Micah, and an even better suggestion Pesmer" he says to his new found brothers in arms " If we are to locate the base of operations of these ratmen, there's no better way than to ask around. Maybe their will be someone down on the Fence level who has seen something peculiar "
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 8/8 AC:12/12/104 d20+6=12 ; Thursday September 17th, 2015 4:34:22 PM
As Happy speaks of having Turtlemistress look at everyone, Pesmer brushes some of the sweat off his forehead. He hadn't noticed, what with all the excitement about, that he was feeling a bit under the weather himself. He knew rat carried disease but was it possible he was infected? (Fortitude Save for the morning against rat bite disease. d20+2+4 from Micah's heal check equals 12. Don't know if I beat the dc or what not so I am under the assumption Pesmer still wishes to get checked just in case.)
"Turtlemistress? That sounds like a good idea. I think I may have caught something from the rat bite." Pesmer admitted to the group as he slightly rubbed just above his wound, feeling a bit of tenderness in the area.
As to what Happy say about how much they are paid, Pesmer nods in agreement. "250g plus what we find sounds good enough for me. Thank you once more for putting faith in us." As thankful for the two swords the group was given, Pesmer has no real skill in the blade so he asks not to keep any of the blades for himself.
"Also, I have uncovered something of interest in my studies last night. Ratmen that we faced last night, I believe, are of a type of lycanthrope. If I am correct, only silver weapons and magic can be fully effective on the little blighters." Having shared what information he could, Pesmer hears Koh's question before thinking it over. "Uniform? A uniform would show we are all connected. Give people an imagine to think of when we come to mind. Should we just choose colors we all wear? Have outfits made for us all? Simply wear a medallion that shows our crest?" Pesmer knew very little about organizing outfits but he did like the idea of them all matching somehow.
Nodding towards Roland, Pesmer agrees. "We could comb both the Trash Level and Fence level. See if anyone has heard anything at all. Though, should we get some silver first or after?"
Micah (John) HP: 8/10 AC: 15/10/15 Thursday September 17th, 2015 6:19:36 PM
Micah is a bit stunned by the size of the offered reward. He tries not to think to what good use such a sum could be put.
He is pleased with Happy's suggestion to see someone he might learn more of the healing arts from.
The discussion of uniforms means little to him as he feels his actions define him, not his apparel. Nonetheless, he is willing to defer the collective will on this topic and affably listens to the discussion.
Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 Thursday September 17th, 2015 6:21:15 PM
"Silver would probably best to get first, just in case we run into more of those rat men. I'd rather have it and and not need it than being in a situation where we are caught without it. But where will we find someone to loan us such pricey weaponry? I don't think Olenjack has any silver weapons in stock. " Roland says to Pesmer as he finishes up his meal
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 Thursday September 17th, 2015 11:21:09 PM
Norr is surprised by the size of Happy's proposed reward and raises an eyebrow.
After hearing some of the others comment, he replies, "Getting silver arms earlier sounds wise. As for uniforms.. It would be impractical for all of us to wear the same outfit in combat."
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Battle Ends) (DM Cayzle) Friday September 18th, 2015 12:05:09 AM
Happy remarks, "That's not too high a sum for an adventurer, even a novice. You see why your former lines of work are likely not worth pursuit, unless for fun or art?"
Brassy says, "You want some silvered weapons? Head on over to Haights Mercantile, you know, across from my place on Cutpurse. Tell Haight I said to treat you OK."
Happy says, "As for your garb, well, you don't want to look like a mercenary company. Aside from that, your fashion is your fancy. Now, you have two 'quests,' heh, so get cracking. And decide where you want to put up."
Brassy adds, "My place is more cramped, but we got better entertainment. And more central. I dunno how the Calf even stays in business, it's so far off the beaten trail."
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 10/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 Friday September 18th, 2015 1:36:04 AM

Pesmer brought up if people have heard rumors among the Trash and Fence level. To that comment, Agrippa adds, "I asked aroun' yesterday, bu' all I heard abou' was disappearin' cats and a kid tha' was bit up alot. Should we try talkin' to the kid; see if he stumbled across 'em?"
Agrippa blinks when Brassy offers silvered weapons. She blinks again when he offers his place once again as a place of operations. She gauges Stohp's and Koh's reactions to that comment.

Roland (Andrew) HP: 15 AC: 18/11/17 CMD: 15 Friday September 18th, 2015 2:03:17 PM
Hearing Brassy's take on the two possible bases of operation, Roland makes his choice " I put my vote in for the Brass Toad then, a centralized location will serve us best. It will give us easier access through the city and people will know where to find us if they need us. "
In regards to the silver weapons, Roland is overjoyed by the generosity of the merchants at Haights. " That's wonderful! Should we all go together as a group, or go at our own leisure? " He inquires the group
Koh Shatterhorn (Alex F.) HP: 13/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16 Friday September 18th, 2015 2:44:44 PM
Hmm. "Brass Toad is good, but three of us work at Fatted Calf as well. And not central, but private, which has perks as long as not mind walking. Also, sized better." She hasn't cast a vote, but she's playing devil's advocate. Especially on the sizing - it's meant to be large enough to accomodate Taurs comfortably instead of having to watch their heads all the time.
"Would say that we split - sick ones go to turtle woman, healthy ones go to get weapons. May want to jot down what others use as well."
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 10/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 Friday September 18th, 2015 7:20:20 PM "I vote fer th- <*Cough> <*sniff> Calf." Agrippa turns away, using her kerchief. "'n I'll be at the turtle's n'til I'm better. A place we go to meet 'n talk should be comfor'ble for everyone, big 'n small... unless the Toad has tha' kinda seatin'"
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 8/8 AC:12/12/104 Friday September 18th, 2015 8:06:19 PM
Nodding to all the suggestions everyone is putting out, Pesmer gathers his stuff for leaving as he stands. "I will be going to the turtle's first with Agrippa. My friend shouldn't have to walk alone and.. Well, I might need a check up myself. I like the idea of splitting up for now. Those who need silver weapons can go to the Haight's while those who need to be examined can go to the Turtle's with us. We can all meet up at the inn we all choose to be setting up base at if that works for everyone. I honestly have no preference to which Inn we choose."
Fully packed, Pesmer turns his attention to Brassy, Happy and Pearl. "Thank you once more for giving us this chance. I hope we are able to make The Fence level proud."
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 8/8 AC:12/12/104 Friday September 18th, 2015 8:09:01 PM
(Forgot to mention the post Agrippa had made at the start.)
Nodding to Agrippa's suggestion. "I like that idea of asking the kid. Could you lead us to him after we finish our weapons gathering and healing?"
Rat-Fight at the Giggling Ghost (Aftermath) (DM Cayzle) Saturday September 19th, 2015 1:04:39 AM
The group turns from Happy and decides on actions. Where to go? Which inn to use for room and board?
Pesmer remembers his manners and thanks the groups' patrons. He thinks the group should spilt, some to the healer, some to the arms merchant. he is neutral on which inn to pick.
Agrippa shares a rumor she has heard about a boy bit by rats. She votes for the Fatted Calf.
Micah wants to see the Turtlemistress if there is healing to be done.
Roland votes for the more central inn, Brassy's place on Cutpurse Road.
Koh points out that the Fatted Calf is a better fit for the taurs.
After a bit more conversation, Agrippa, Micah, and Pesmer are headed to the Turtle Mistress, and Roland seems intent on weapons. Micah? Stohp? Koh? which group? And at which inn will you gather afterwards?
Koh Shatterhorn (Alex F.) HP: 13/13 AC/TCH/FF: 14/13/12 CMB: +4 CMD: 16 Saturday September 19th, 2015 11:10:39 AM
Koh elbows Stohp a little, murmuring that she should go get weapons with that group. In the meantime, she moves to join Agrippa's group - better to get her bites checked out than not. And besides, she doesn't need a weapon, and Stohp is better off going to see what's in Size: Minotaur. "So. Calf or Toad? Won't do to split and meet in both. I vote the Calf as well."
Stohp (Mitch) HP: 9/9 AC: 13/12/12 CMB: +4 Sunday September 20th, 2015 5:15:39 PM
"Calf." Stohp grunts, trying to finish her porridge quickly so she can leave with the rest.
Norr (David S.) HP: 18/18 AC: 18/11/16 CMB :+5 Sunday September 20th, 2015 7:44:06 PM
Norr simply nods at the other Minotaurs' vote for the Calf as he stands in order to join the group purchasing weapons.
Micah (John) HP: 10/10 AC: 17/10/17 Sunday September 20th, 2015 10:52:32 PM "There seems to be a larger preference for the Fatted Calf," states Micah, then to Roland, "Can we make it a consensus?" With that he prepares to join the group heading to see the turtle mistress.
Agrippa (Jacob) HP: 10/10 AC: 16.(t)13.(ff)13 Monday September 21st, 2015 3:32:13 AM
Before the group splits up, Agrippa gives the party clear directions on how to reach the child who was bitten, saying, "I'll go check 'im out after seein' the healers anyway, but if y'all wanna accompany me... mmm... maybe not all at once. Can ya imagine the look on his face seein' everyone askin' for 'em?" She chuckles, which turns into coughing.
"Calf it is~" Agrippa nods, slapping her calves. "See you there in a bit," she states, walking in the healers direction. She intends to interview the child after having seen the healer; unless she is contagious.
Pesmer Zerase (Ryan W.) HP: 8/8 AC:12/12/104 Monday September 21st, 2015 6:25:09 AM
Pesmer nods a bit as the consensus is for the calf. "Calf it is. We can all meet at the boys residence but we all don't have to go in. Send in one or two people to ask questions on the groups behalf."
Fully packed and ready to go, Pesmer joins Agrippa and the others who are going to the turtle mistress to look for healing as they head out. "See you all soon." He waves to the party going for weapons.

Ruffling at Stohp's hair, and leaning to give a kiss to her cheek, she murmurs, "Stay safe." Then she moves after parting from her sister, following Agrippa and Pesmer with her bag secure. She's got a few thoughts on her mind, but at the moment, just going to make sure she's not infected with something. Filth Fever sometimes has an onset.
