DM RobC - "I'm as ready as I'll ever be"
Wednesday January 6th, 2016 6:32:19 AM

Mack is suitably impressed by the power of the DC. Imagine, being able to teleport wherever you wanted to go in the Wold. He does look about just on the off chance they pair simply turned invisible. If that is the case, then they are exceptionally stealthy.

He also offers to be the party pack mule and carry the potions for whenever the time to use them presents itself. The others are in agreement on this proposal.

Armand runs to fetch his things from his room, savouring the last morsel of bacon as he goes.

Leskni gives the nod, and having checked over her things, is ready to set off.

Owen asks about the staff, wondering aloud as to who it might benefit most.

Carver is still looking for someone to take the crafted rhino horn off his hands. It is far too beautiful thing to simple discard.

Osul smiles and gives a nod. Time for adventure!

The party finally depart from the Tree and set their faces towards the Culverwood.

Mack breaks out his harmonica and plays a decent travelling tune.

Spring weather can be fickle. The day started out quite sunny, but after a few hours of walking thick clouds cover the sky. It doesn’t take long before a light spattering of rain falls, and starts to wet the party.

It is mid-afternoon, and the party walk along a well-travelled path. Opens fields lie either side of the trail, with the occasional tree here and there. The Culverwood is still some time off.

OOC: Please let me know your marching order, whether you are walking with weapons drawn, whether you are being stealthy, etc.

"Thanks for the gift, Osul! VERY appreciated! :) And I'm completely fine with you holding the wand if you want. I just wanted to make sure it was still with us somewhere."

I have no preference to walking order. I'm the slowest, I believe. Not that that matters, other than I might be dragging a little so towards the back. I can assist with tracking if we're doing any, but I don't think we are yet. And I'm not moving in Stealth, as I assume that will slow us down even more.

My hands, as always, are drawn and ready for action! :)

I eventually stop playing the harmonica as we move out, and I enjoy the scenery, while trying to watch out for any potential signs of danger.

Atlas is happy to be on the road again. All these breaks make him feel fat and lazy. Muscles need to be worked and there's no better way than walking a trail and fighting foul denizens of evil.

"Thanks 'Osul, love my new spoon. I'm sure I'll put it to good use."

ooc: Sorry for the missed post yesterday, trying to get back into the swing of things!

Armand will try to stay in the middle of the group. That way he can assist in which ever direction needed. He will try to stay alert to his surroundings. Perception 22, d20+4.

As his weapon is two handed he always has it out, sometimes he uses it as a walking staff and sometimes he will have it braced across his shoulders with his arms looped around it.

During the walk he will address Carver, "Carver, I would take that horn unless you want to keep it. I think it would be a fine calling card for when we must charge into battle." If Carver gives him the horn he will tie some string to it to make a carrying loop. He will then put it around his neck and arm.

"Thank you very much for that gift. It will come in extremely useful for measuring when I make potions"

Somewhat later

"Finally, some bracing weather. I was getting bored of all the nice weather we've been having the last while"

Replying to Armand:

[b]"I see well in the dark and I have a very good sense of smell but no, I cannot see in absolute darkness"

As the group travels, a hawk comes down and lands on Lesknis shoulder

OOC: I meant to create my familiar a long time ago and forgot :-(. Man, that is one incredibly crappy roll for intelligence :-(.

"Ah, Pella, you're back. Did you have a good time exploring?"

To the others:

"This is my good friend Pella. Pella, these are my friends Armand, Atlas, Mack, Own, Carver and Osul. Please do not defecate on them unless they REALLY deserve it"

OOC: Lekni would pretty automatically be stealthy, especially since she can move at 1/2 speed and still more than keep up with the group. No weapons out unless we expect trouble. Unless asked to assume a particular position she'd move around as terrain etc required.

Pella would tend to fly around getting an aerial overlook of what is happening. Will return if he spies anything that looks dangerous or interesting to him.

Leskni would continually have deathwatch and message up (message to Pella, amongst others)

If there are places where her size can help others she'd freely use it (fording a stream, for example)

Carver has new shoes on, he moves much faster now than he did before.
He watches as the hawk arrives and then tries to get a good mental picture of it, so he won't mistakenly take it as a threat in combat or as food if he ends up hunting.

"Atlas, with my speed, I want to keep on the move, scouting around. No matter how much I try, there is no way I'm ever going to be silent, unless I get magic to assist me, I may as well use my speed to be where ever I am needed, agree?"
Carver keeps his shield out, unless he spies an easy shot for food using a bow. Even though he has fresh food for the group, supplementing it would not be bad either....

Mack puts his harmonica away. It was getting a little challenging to play what with the rain coming down.

The weather doesn't bother Atlas. He's just happy to be out and travelling again. Noone became a hero from sitting around at home after all.

Armand stays near the centre of the group, gripping his glaive tightly as he walks.

Leskni lets the others know that her taurish senses allow her fairly good vision at night, and her nose is very sensitive. But seeing in absolute darkness is currently beyond her. Leskni takes the opportunity to introduce the party to Pella, her hawk.

Carver keeps his shield out and at the ready. With his fancy new shoes he moves even faster than a typical centaur. This means VERY fast. It doesn't mean he can outrun raindrops however. The party will soon be treated to that unique smell of wet linotaur.

Owen walks happily along. The cold doesn't bother him anyway.

Osul looks about to assess the current weather. He forecasts cloudy with patches of rain for the next few days. Nothing too sinister or troublesome. And with that, he wildshapes into a bird (of some type) and takes to the air (OOC: Please let me know what type of bird you shape into)

Pella (hawk) circling the party - 50ft away and 50ft high
Osul (Wildshaped) circling the party - 50ft away and 50ft high

The clouds do not relent, and the rain keeps falling. Ahead, the party can spy a covered wagon approaching. It is around 150ft away and closing. One figure can be seen driving the wagon which is being pulled by two horses.

The trail is somewhat muddy now, and open fields lie on either side of the path.

Atlas addresses Carver while walking, "I don't mind at all Carver, but don't forget that we have 'Osul and Pella spying from up high. Don't take any unnecessary chances."

He continues walking after the conversation with Carver, keeping his eyes open for trouble, but also just enjoying the open road. He sees the wagon and turns to Leskni, "What's the word from Pella on that wagon?" He then yells to Carver if he's within hearing distance, "Can you get parallel to that wagon a good distance away in the field? If they're up to anything then a lance from the side would be a deterrent."

Turning back to Leskni, "Maybe you can join him to add to the intimidation? If either of you sees me draw my sword then feel free to attack."

Atlas steps to the front of the group ready to parley with the wagon driver. He has his shield on his arm, but his sword is in its scabbard still. He keeps his hand on the hilt, more because it is comfortable than because he's trying to intimidate. The Liontaurs have that covered.

As the wagon approaches he holds up a hand to stop them while they're a good 40' away still, and says "Hold there friend. We mean you no harm, just being cautious considering the trouble we've run into on the roads recently. Are you coming from the Culverwood?"

ooc:

I think I still need to level up from the last adventure. I'll get that done this weekend.

Sorry for jumping ahead in the post. I'm assuming Leskni doesn't tell me that Pella sees orcs peaking out the back of the wagon or anything. If so, consider my conversation with the wagon driver to be a stall tactic as everyone gets into place.

Armand takes the Lyre but will store it in the bag of holding.

Noticing the wagon he was about to suggest the party getting off the muddy road. The open fields may be wet but that way they would not be walking through mud.

He's just about to speak when Atlas starts calling out commands. "Um, the wagon is only a little ways off, I'm pretty sure the driver heard all your commands. That may be enough to intimidate him. It was at least enough to put him on his guard which may make a simple conversation that much more of a diplomatic effort. Perhaps we should all think about some non-verbal signals or maybe distinctive whistles and such to put the roving parts of the party on alert?"

Armand steps up to just be slightly behind and to Atlas's left. He calls out to the wagon driver. "Hello good sir! Not a great day for travelling. Can you tell us of conditions down the road? We can tell you about a fine resting place from where we've come." Diplomacy 25, d20+9.

However, if due to the weather conditions our sight is only to the 150 ft mark then Atlas would not "yell". That has to be some pretty bad weather though, and it was my understanding that the weather was not that bad (no mention of fog and just a slight spattering of rain. We should be able to see much farther than 150 ft. No curves either, because we're talking about open fields. Maybe a hill?

Just trying to figure out the scenario. I would like to think that Atlas is smart enough to do what Armand suggested he did.

After all that, he might need another Animal Empathy check.

DM RobC - "What's going on here?"
Friday January 8th, 2016 4:49:39 AM

Atlas doesn't want to take any chances with this wagon. He prepares a battle strategy and then goes out to meet the wagon head on, stopping some 40ft away from it.

Mack isn't as alarmed just yet. He casts a spell (Toros Taur Try) on Carver, boosting the centaurs senses.

Armand is a little concerned that whoever is on the wagon may have heard the party's plans. The weather would certainly make things hard to be heard from a distance, but not impossible.

Leskni gives some directions to her familiar friend. (OOC: Correct. You can use the message spell to deliver a message to your familiar if it is in range. Since it cannot speak, you will not get a response, however, you do have the Emapthic Link). The bird flies quite high, and in the direction of the wagon. Leskni senses Palla to be feeling curious, and then ... caution?

Owen courteously moves to the side of the road, ready to give the wagon right of way.

Bendoc sits atop Shadow, scratching at the wolfs head. The rain has caused much of Shadow's fur to get soaking wet. The wolf shakes the water free every so often, causing Bendoc to have to grip tightly to stay atop.

Carver casually prepares to eat a "magic mushroom" should things look to be going badly.

Osul flies high above, still getting the hang of updrafts and banking. Noone said being an eagle would be this tricky. At least he doesn't have to learn how to build a nest.

Atlas calls for the wagon to stop where it is. His words say that the party mean no harm, but then again, he does make quite a sight as he blocks the road, shield at the ready and hand on his sword.

Armand steps up with Atlas and offers some kinder words, asking favour of the driver.

The driver of the wagon pulls on the reins and the wagon comes slowly to a stop some 120ft from the party and 20ft from Atlas and Armand.

The wagon is covered and does not allow for anyone to see what is inside. Sitting in the drivers seat is a single figure. Humanoid, and wearing what looks to be a large dark fur draped across his shoulders and back. From this distance, Atlas and Armand (and Osul) would figure it to be a black bear pelt.

The figure puts his right hand to the seat beside him as Atlas speaks, and keeps it there. His left hand still holding the reins.

"The Culverwood? Every sensible person knows to avoid that place." is all he says to Atlas.

But then Armand starts with some pleasant talk, and the man looks to ease up "Aye. I thought I'd have a few more days of clear travel, but Ffloy has apparently disagreed. But every cloud has a silver lining. I don't suppose I could interest you folks in some pelts? They're the ticket when the weather is bad. All manner and all sizes" He nods his head back towards his wagon.

Armand warns Atlas to keep a close eye on the mans hands, and then engages in further pleasantries. "Nah, I try not to venture too far into the Culverwood. Too many weird things in there. Fey things, you know? But still. A man has to eat. I managed to capture a few wolves not too far back. Say, you interested in buying? I'd give you a real good deal. For a man as refined as you, 7 gold pieces sounds a very fair deal?". The man is willing to sell some furs, that would be treated as a Cold Weather Outfit.

Armand's 'gut feel' is that the man is on the level. He doesn't sound like he is trying to be deceptive, and he isn't trying to come up with a story.

Mack stays put, but is still wary of the wagon. It's covered, so that means from his position some 120ft dead in front, he can't see inside.

Owen too, keeps his distance. No sense in spooking a harmless traveller.

Carver engages the driver from a distance. "Oil Cloth might be water-proof, but there's nothing like a good pelt to keep you warm. Not sure I have any your size, but I'm sure I could stitch something up" the man calls back.

Osul tries to circle overhead into a position from which he can see inside the covered wagon, but cannot see through the material covering.

Leskni isn't quite sure what has Pella on edge, but wants to get a closer look at the wagon. She reduces herself and then hides away in the grass to get closer.

"Hey! Where'd that girl disappear to?" the man asks, getting a little serious. He raises the object in his right hand, revealing it to be a loaded crossbow. He holds it close and keeps it pointed straight up, and not at any flying creatures.

Bendoc doesn't like the man one bit, and growls in the direction of the wagon driver.

Atlas then stands imposingly. Intimidatingly (Note that Intimidate is a mind-affecting, fear effect)

"I knew it" The man mutters as he drops the crossbow to his side and raises his empty hands in the air "Please don't kill me! I have a family to take care of. Take the pelts, just please, leave me be"

OoC: polymorph gives you ONLY what the spell says. The entry for eagle is almost irrelevant.

Getting a fly speed gives you a +8 and lets you take 10.

So your fly skill is the same as your character. No armor check penalty since you no longer have armor. +8 since you now have a fly speed.

Did that help?

DM RobC - "Well, now I feel a little bad."
Monday January 11th, 2016 6:52:42 AM

Mack feels a little bad about what has transpired. He may not have actively participated in startling the man, but feels bad nonethless.

Armand tries to calm things down a bit. He lowers his glaive to the ground, while also pointing out how unwelcome a wolf pelt might be in the current party. The man keeps his hands raised somewhat, still unsure exactly what is going on.

Leskni reappears, adding that is was not her intent - nor that of the party - to scare him. She apologises for the mixed signals.

Armand then gets the man's attention asking what pelts he may have for trade.

The man slowly - and very deliberately - climbs down off the wagon and motions for Armand to follow him to the back of the wagon. He then carefully opens the back for inspection.

Along one side of the wagon are the man's personal effects. A bed roll, a backpack, some dirty metal plates. Along the other side are piles of pelts. Wolf and Rabbit/hare are quite common, but no bear. "The only bear one I have is the one I'm wearing. Bears are difficult to snare and skin, you see. But I'd sell you this one for 12 gold" (Treat as Cold Weather Outfit, costing 12gp instead of 8gp. Weight is still 7lbs)

"Of course if you want hare, that's nice and easy. Call it 8 gold?"

Atlas follows the Armand and the man to the back of the wagon. He loosens up a little when he realizes that no one is jumping out to get him.

"'Osul, half my stuff is made of leather, so I'm assuming you're OK with the fur as long as the animal is fulfilling its destiny or something like that, right? Because I'll be honest, a wolf pelt would sure help when winter comes."

Atlas stays back a little bit watching, still a bit on edge, but not trying to put a scare into the man any more. However, he's still looking for something in the man's character to affirm his tale.

Atlas doesn't sense any deception to the man. The only thing he detects is fear. Winter has come and gone. Today is a rainy Spring day. The overcast sky matches Atlas's mood.

Bendoc looks to be the only one not happy with the thought of wolf pelts. He gives a reassuring pat to Shadow. Noone will be skinning him today (hopefully).

Leskni asks the man if he has any news from where he has come from. "Not much to say really. I've been skirting the edges of the Culverwood over winter - around the western edge and then the southern border - and now I'm trying to sell my wares. Not much news really. It was a hard season. Seemed to be fewer animals in the Culverwood"

Armand has no intention of taking the bear pelt of the man's back. "Theon. The name's Theon" he says, starting to relax a little more "Sure, roll the pelts out. Have a feel. Notice how clean they are. Why, you could buy one for a lady friend and be the most popular man for the entire year!"

Owen checks out the furs more closely. It's true, Theon has taken great care in his capture and skinning. The pelts are very good quality. A cold weather outfit normally retails for 8 gold. To get some pelts of this quality for only 7 gold is a good deal.

Osul-eagle comes to rest on the rear of the wagon. Theon spots the magnificent bird "Cheeky devil" he mutters "Quick, anyone have a bow?"

Carver just keeps his distance and looks about. Perhaps the wagon is a diversion? Perhaps someone is watching and waiting to strike? All he sees are clouds in the sky and puddles forming on the muddy trail. Great. As soon as he gets a new pair of shoes (hmm... are they called horse-shoes or centaur-shoes?) he has to wade through the mud.

Speaking of which, you know your own business, but I would recommend you find a better way to protect yourself than just that crossbow. Orcs and other foul beasts have been stretching their borders lately."

Atlas finds a few pelts that he likes, "Where are you headed next? I would hate to buy these now and have to carry them all the way to the Culverwood and back to the Tree. Oh, and leave the bird and wolf alone. I understand your profession, but different creatures have different fates. These here are destined to adventure with us, not line your wagon."

"Do you know of a local tailor that could do justice to your wares? My only skills with needle and thread are occasionally sewing up some minor wounds."

Armand will continue to make small talk to put Theon at ease. "I take it trapping is a lonely business? You mentioned times were harder this year, has there been any other unusually occurrences that you could attribute to this or do you think the area is being over hunted by others?"

Atlas enquires further about the man's destination, and cautions him to leave the party hawk and wolf alone.

Leskni does the same, before stretching her legs and venturing onwards a bit.

Theon gives a knowing nod "I never hunt pets. Bit of a professional rule of mine. Anyway, I hear there's a Trading Post nearby. Only place for miles. I'll likely try and offload the rest of my wares there, restock, then head-out again. 'The Tree' they call it."

Owen congratules Theon on his wares, and mentions giving him a letter of recomendation for the Tree. "That's be mighty kind of you. Tell you what, any pelts you buy today I'll personally sew into outfits for you and leave them there. No extra charge" Any previous misunderstandings look well and truly forgotten.

Carver just continues circling froma distance. He doesn't see, smell or hear anything untowards. Of course, the smell of wet centaur hide does tend to be on the powerful side.

Bendoc reflects on what Theon has said about fewer animals on the outskirts of the Culverwood. Maybe it means something other than a poor season? He stays alert whilst the others engage Theon. You can't be too trusting out in the wild. Shadow shakes the water from his fur once more.

Atlas has a quiet word with Osul, enquiring as to whether he thinks Theon is on the level. Osul gives a screech in reply and begins walking alon the top of the wagon.

Armand offers to mend anything Theon has that could use it. "Mighty good of you to offer. I tend to keep my tools in good condition. They're my livelihood after all. But the right rear wheel on the wagon could use a look" In no time at all, Armand's casting of Mending has the wheel looking pristine. Armand also sneaks in a casting of Detect Magic. Not a single thing in the wagon nor on Theon has any sort of magical aura to it.

Likewise, Mack declines. He does wish Theon a safe and pleasant journey.

Armand though is glad to purchase some winter wolf pelts. Theon promises to leave them with the Chapel at the tree.

Owen also purchases a cloak, and gives a handwritten letter to Theon to help "grease some gears" back at the Tree for him.

Theon smiles and gives thanks to the party. He gets back atop his wagon and begins the drive to the Tree.

Bendoc is just glad to finally be rid of this trapper. The man makes his living by defenseless animals after all.

Carver is glad to finally get moving again, daydreaming about a set of Zephyr shoes.

The rest of the journey - which spans the next 2 days - is uneventful. The rain comes and goes, and there are very brief periods where the sun emerges from the clouds.

At night you can hear the distant sound of wolf howls. Apparently Theon did not manage to capture them all. Shadow pricks up his ears but does not respond. Instead he looks to Bendoc and gives a friendly nudge.

No other travellers are encountered on the road. Perhaps the rain is keeping all the troublemakers indoors? Or perhaps they are just biding their time?

The party have made it to the southern border of the Culverwood. Ahead, some of the thicker areas of the tree canopy keep patches of the ground dry, but for the whole the ground is muddy.

The area that Liana has directed the party is off the beaten path, naturally. There will be no path or trail to follow.

OOC: Regarding watches, PCs need 8hrs rest every night to avoid gaining the 'Fatigued' condition.

I *think* the following would ensure everyone gets the required 8hrs:

20:00 - 22:00 : Atlas, Mack
22:00 - 01:00 : Carver, Armand
01:00 - 04:00 : Leskni, Owen

04:00 - 08:00 : Bendoc, Osul

DM RobC - "These Woods, have a spirit of their own"
Monday January 18th, 2016 6:21:05 AM

Armand prefers to take one of the earlier watches. His morning tributes to Gargul take priority over watching the encampment.

Leskni has finely tuned senses. Senses such as a keen sense of smell that would be quite effective in the dark. For this reason, she takes one of the late night watches.

Mack just smiles and shrugs. He's just happy and carefree to be on the journey, so will accomodate whichever watch he is assigned.

Atlas shrugs. He isn't exactly sure what the Culverwood might hold, and turns to Osul and Bendoc as the resident experts.

Bendoc suggests camping outside the Culverwood and tackling it in the morning.

Osul nods in agreement. He warns the others not to be alarmed if he is "not himself" during the evening. One only hopes this does not mean he is a lycanthrope! Standing on the threshold of the Culverwood, Osul feels at peace. The weather at least is on the improve. The sky is quite clear and should allow for a wonderful view of the moon. Osul does notice some tracks around the Culverwood. Paws and claws. Likely wolves, and perhaps even some foxes.

Owen takes a great interest in the flora and fauna around the outskirts of the Culverwood.

The *watch is set:
20:00 - 22:00 : Atlas, Mack
22:00 - 01:00 : Carver, Armand
01:00 - 04:00 : Leskni, Owen
04:00 - 07:00 : Bendoc, Osul

Both Atlas and Mack have quite keen eyes but even with the moon out, they don't see much. In the distance they can hear a solitary wolf howl. It sounds like it comes from within the Culverwood, but is quite a way off. Certainly nothing to be concerned about.

Carver and Leskni are the only ones with low-light vision. Each could *swear* they see some of the trees on the edge of the Culverwood move. Not like the branches move in the wind, but entire trees *moving* a few feet one way or another.

The rest of the night passes uneventfully, and the morning brings the promise of adventure. It is a sunny day, although there are a few clouds in the sky. At least no rain though.

-------------------------------
OOC: For watches, I'm assuming those that are sleeping do so in the middle of the group, and those on watch are on opposite sides. For instance, at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions.

Do you keep a fire lit? How do those without darkvision or low-light vision see?

I also see a few people needing time to recover spells. Perhaps you could have a dedicated time slot for that? 07:00 -> 08:00? Those that need to can prepare spells, while others cook a hearty breakfast. Just a suggestion.

My personal thoughts are that keeping a fire going by the sleepers is good, but I wasn't planning on carrying a torch around too often. I'd rather sit in the darkness (using stealth hopefully) and rely on my other senses, and limited sight (it's not pitch black after all), to spot anything before it hits the sleepers. I figure most stuff coming at us will probably target the fire and sleepers, and I'll be able to react or alert them before any enemy strike.

I'd warm up by the fire as needed, based on the temperature. And check in with my guard mate from time to time.

I hope the others don't think that sounds like I'm using them as bait. ;)

If we can find enough dry wood I would suggest a fire. Though since it has been raining a few days I'd not expect us to be able to do that. If there is not enough wood for a fire but a few pieces that could burn I suggest making some torches. Set two torches 50 feet outside of camp on opposite sides. This will help the people with little or no night vision to see something out of camp before it comes in...hopefully. Alternately if it is a full moon it is likely that there will be some light to see by at least around camp.

Armand would appreciate the 1 hour time to recover spells, break camp, and eat breakfast.

Monday January 18th, 2016 1:41:50 PM

I'd suggest that we keep a very low fire. Basically just embers. So there is a little visibility but the light doesn't carry far.

Torch light can be seen literally over a mile away on a dark night. If we can camp in a bit of a hollow we might be able to have fire around the camp that isn't visible too far.

If it is cold Leskni will just cast endure elements on everybody.

"Thank you for that vote of confidence Bendoc. I have a plan regarding that — based on what I have been told by those of you who have been here before, along with my time as a resident and walker of The Wood, and as one who understands that every gift, power and spell that I bring to the party {we REALLY need a name!}[b] is a gift from The Wood."

"The plan is simple: The Wood knows we are here, knows I am here, knows we are here at the request of and in the stead of The Emissary, knows we are seeking the stand of maples as a part of that request, and knows we are here to help - insomuch as it can. We will do what I have always done — we will accept the direction (not misdirection) of The Wood! That, and as a group, when we feel the direction, we will quickly aim to get our bearings, and then ride the current to where The Wood wills. The analogy is simple enough: swimming against the current of a river or a rip is a lot of effort for no gain except exhaustion. Understanding that you will be taken somewhere for a reason means you can enjoy the journey which may seem meandering, but that would be a better path than running into every creature who resides here."

"Now would be as good an opportunity as any to offer your considered responses and critques..."
'Osul listens as readies himself to go walking with - what is for all intents and purposes, and for want of a better comparison - his Deity.

Atlas goes through his morning routine, breakfast and checking through his equipment. Yesterday's rain should count for having a bath, shouldn't it? He asks on Osul and Bendoc to guide the group.

Owen's mind is far away. The flowers remind him of those back home. His wife loves to keep it tended just so. Perhaps just as he stares at this little blue flower his wife will be staring at a similar one, and be thinking of him?

Bendoc is ready to trust in Osul's judgement when it comes to the Culverwood. Druids and Greemages are surely prepared for journeying through the Wold's most magical forest. He does have a fleeting moment of concern that the group will get lost. If only they'd saved some breadcrumbs from breakfast to trail behind.

Osul has a plan, simple in nature but honest in execution. Trust in the forest. Trust that the forest knows the party are here to provide aid. As long as they don't do anything to offend the forest, then they should trust it will guide them where they are needed. Of course, what exactly could offend a forest is up for discussion.

Carver is in agreement. Go in with good intentions and trust that good things will follow.

And so, the party bravely enter the Culverwood (again, for some)

The going is much slower than yesterday. The weather is clear, but traversing a forest is tricky business.

Osul finds that he starts feeling a bit uneasy the further the party travel in the Culverwood. Hot flushes and sweating, as if he is fighting off a cold or illness. Nothing that seriously affects him, but it might be concerning.

In the afternoon, Shadow turns his head suddenly to the right, and some 50ft or so away Bendoc sees a tiny fey watching the party from behind a tree. It looks like a tiny girl with bright blue wings. The creature smiles and waves, before disappearing from sight.

The feeling of being watched however persists for the remainder of the trek.

As the day once again draws to a close, Osul suspects the party have managed to cover only about 6 miles. If Liana's directions are accurate (and the Culverwood in a good mood) it will likely take at least another day to reach your destination.

Time for camp again.

'Osul pushes on through his unwellness. He mentions his feeling out of sorts with whomever is out with him on point - but just the once. A little bit of a cold - if he had the frame of reference he would think he was getting inoculated.
"Six miles... okay, with slower travelers through trailless forest that sounds reasonable. If it seemed very wrong I would have flown back to the road, then back here again, but that doesn't seem necessary."
In a free minute or more in or around setting camp, he casts Detect Animals and Plants systematically seeking out any stands of maples nearby.
"Bendoc, can you write a short note for The Emissary while I hunt through the seeds and berries I've collected for something for our messenger?" He hopefully finds a suitable bird that likes some berries whilst he ties on the note, and directs the bird to Fort Stag on the West Coast of Centaur Isle.

After dinner (more berries and nuts for those who are interested), he settles in for a rest, and is stirred for his watch, at which point he reshapes to the Eagle for the clarity of vision in the dim night light, and takes position upon a branch. {Perception: 18+8=26, Survival(no TTT, but +4 Forrest Walking): 36}

Armand has a few things on his mind. Things that make it hard to notice his surroundings in any great detail. How does the forest know the intentions of the party? Should they 'announce' it in some way? And what about others in the woods. Would they see, hear or smell the party before the party detect them?

Bendoc thinks it a fair assumption that the creatures of this forest know their way about, and he waves back to where he saw the little fey.

Based on the description, Owen believes Bendoc saw a pixie, most likely a young one. They are quite elusive creatures and can even make themselves invisible at will.

Leskni feels quite comfortable out here. Being surrounded by a foreset that is also an immortal power just 'feels' natural. She starts singing a very pleasant tune, and even thinks to leave some small gifts by the wayside. Priests of Alemi are often known to hand out candy to children, and who knows, perhaps fey enjoy them too.

Osul helps set up camp and then casts a spell: Detect Animals and Plants. He detects maples all throughout his range of 500ft or so. All completely healthy and free of disease. Perhaps once they get closer to the coordinates provides by Liana?

Finding a bird is an easy task, and Osul fastens Bendoc's note to its leg. One assumes the note is just to provide an update on progress. That the party are in the Culverwood and on their way?

Mack partakes in the berries and nuts, and is very curious about what the creature might have been. He begins to check behind trees and under bushes in the hopes that he too might spot one of the magical little folk.

Owen then asks quite a good question: how should the group be known?

Atlas isn't too sure about giving the group a name. Have they earned such a thing? Should it be something that others bestow on the group?

Carver is in agreement with Atlas. He doesn't feel that the party have done anything of significance. Yet. He suggests the next time the party see a friednly looking fey that they should try and start a conversation. As the embers die on the fire (made from dead, fallen, piece of wood) he pulls out his violin and plays a tune dedicated to a heroic Centaur. Well, heroic in Centaur terms. Likely not to Minotaurs.

The watch is set...
20:00 - 22:00 : Atlas, Owen
22:00 - 01:00 : Carver, Armand
01:00 - 04:00 : Leskni, Mack
04:00 - 07:00 : Bendoc, Osul

Even the moon and starlight find it hard to penetrate the thick canopy of the Culverwood. It is decidely darker than the previous nights camp in the open.

Atlas and Owen are up first. Every so often the spot a tree literally move. It's as if they inch along the ground to a new place to set root. Nothing surprising in the Culverwood.

Carver and Armand are up second. Their watch is quite boring. With only a few embers to provide warmth and light, they do manage to spot small glowing lights flying through the forest. A bit like fireflies, but much faster. They do not venture near the camp however.

Leskni and Mack are up third. When Leskni wakes she finds a tiny gold bell on her kit. How it got there is anyone's guess.

Like Atlas and Owen, Leskni and Mack also notice the nearby trees slowly moving. But then Leskni catches wind of something else. A smell a bit like putrid rotted wood. Leskni can hear significant movement to the west of the camp at the same time as Mack can hear significant movement to the east of the camp. Best guess is that the source of each noise is at least 50ft away.

Assuming someone wakes up Atlas, he quickly jumps into action. As he moves to the east side of the camp he grumbles out loud, "Can someone talk to the fey that have been following us and ask them give us a little warning next time? Hey Leskni, ring that little bell and see if it does anything helpful for us right now...maybe that was their form of help."

Atlas moves in front of Mack and quietly asks, "What did you hear, and where exactly? And Mack, thanks for being on your toes during watch! No, not your literal toes, you know what I mean." Atlas shakes his head knowing better than to use sayings with the halfling.

I focus first on getting everyone awake, unless something is already upon us. If that's the case, I get myself between any enemy and the sleeping party.

If nothing is close yet, once the party is awake, I prepare to cast a Light spell on a rock and throw it over in that direction. Unless the others feel that would be a bad idea. I don't want something to think we're attacking yet, because maybe we aren't. We don't know what the commotion is yet. I don't want to start a fight where one isn't needed.

OOC: I also requested access to the Map that I can't see.

If needed, I would eventually be going stealth, and probably trying to see the enemy. If we don't take an extra day to give us all a chance to see the map:

DM RobC - "That sounds big and terrifying"
Thursday January 21st, 2016 6:02:01 AM

Leskni isn't going to take any chances. Maybe it's just the trees and maybe it's not. She calls loudly for everyone in the party to wake up! She then casts a spell to make herself a bit shorter.

Atlas gets to his feet and moves near Mack. What exactly did Mack hear? He's not sure. But he IS sure it came from both sides of the camp.

Armand wakes from what was a peaceful sleep and gets to his feet. All this commotion? Something must be going on. He quickly casts a Bless spell on the entire party.

Mack isn't quite sure what to do. Should he be stealthy? Should he cast a light spell? Noone directs him either way, so he stands confused for the moment.

Bendoc mistakenly thinks its his turn for watch, but mounts Shadow once he understands it could be an attack.

Carver gets to his feet (all four of them) and removes the fatigue he felt. Armor can be a blessing and a curse. (OOC: 1 move action to stand, 1 standard action to use your clerical ability. You'll have to pickup your shield and weapon next round)

Owen stands and moves next to Atlas. He casts a spell but just doesn't have the energy at the moment (OOC: It took 1 move action to stand, and lets call it a 5ft step to get to Atlas and then a standard action to cast your spell). Atlas feels significantly stronger for it.

It's very dark. The thick canopy blocks out the moon and starlight such that the entire area is treated as "darkness". The nearly-dead embers only allow for light in the immediate vicinity.

The Culverwood is quiet. Leskni can no longer smell anything out of the ordinary. The party can't see or hear anything out of the norm

Mack ONLY Highlight to display spoiler: {You were the only one to make a Perception check, and it's a good one. You can hear something still out there. It's like there is something moving through the bushes and definately getting closer, and still on both sides. You'd put the noises still at around 50ft away, give or take a few feet. The noises are quieter than they were a few seconds ago. It's like the source(s) is trying to be stealthy in their approach now}

Armand hastily starts putting his chain shirt on. If he was woken it must have been for a reason.

Atlas is grateful for the boosted strength, and peers out into the night. He asks Mack what the plan is.

Mack lets the party know that whatever it is, it's still out there. He casts light on a stone and tosses it out to the east. He isn't aiming for anything in particular or trying to kill something with it, just increase the light level.

Carver cautions the party about attacking first. Probably better to take a hit or two than to unnecessarily provoke the forest. He casts a spell creating a humanoid form of light to the east. A 20ft radius area is brightly lit, with another 40ft outside that. (OOC: You are correct, your lay on hands was a swift action. I mistakenly thought it was from a clerical domain you were using.

Owen prepares for battle, drawing his crossbow and loading it for action.

Osul draws a wand and readies himself. He currently stands in the middle of the pack, so quite a good supporting position for both sides of the camp.

Leskni takes a step north east and casts Enlarge Person. (OOC: Please choose a target. Based on current positions it would need to be Atlas, Mack, or Osul. The others are too close to other people to enlarge, that is, there is insufficient space for them to grow and stand at the end of the round)

Bendoc urges Shadow to calm. Things will happen as they happen. Best be ready though.

In the dim light, all the party can now make out something moving in the darkness. It looks like a walking corpse, rotting and putrid. But the bones jutting from beneath the rotting flesh are wooden in appearance. Its eye sockets glow with a soft red light and its mouth is a mess of spiked wood.

The abomination points curled fingers towards the party (Owen to make a Will Save vs DC14 or his crossbow becomes useless! Carver to make a Will Save vs DC14 or his composite longbow becomes useless! Carver to make a Will Save vs DC14 or his shield becomes useless!)

Mack casts Magic Fang on himself and steps a bit closer to the danger/excitement. He calls out a warning that there's stilla 'something' on the other side of the camp that hasn't been accounted for.

Armand - who comfortably slept in his light chain shirt - is already suited up and ready to go. The creature doesn't look like any he has seen before.

Atlas stands his ground, waiting for the enemy to come to him. He grows in size thanks to Leskni

Bendoc is the first to fire back at the enemy. His bullet hits its mark.

Leskni grabs a sunrod and tosses it to the west. It lights up the area, revealing another creature hiding just outside of the current bright light (At AA14).

Owen curses silently as his crossbow becomes useless. Fortunately he was never that attached to it, and retaliates with a Scorching Ray! Unfortunately he is still a little tired, as his shot misses its mark. He draws his dagger in an attempt to try something else.

Osul says what most are thinking - if these are undead, then they should be sent back to Gargul. He's happy to take responsibility if that isn't the case. He keeps a wand at the ready to heal whoever might inevitably get hurt. (spoilerOsul's quarterstaff didn't require a save. Perhaps the spell used against the party could only effect so much, and thus, Osul was one of the lucky ones :)[/spoiler])

Mack readily agrees. Kill kill kill!

Carver's bow suffers the same fate as Osul's crossbow, but fortunately his shield remains intact. He directs the dancing lights closer to the target and allows everyone to see it in more detail.

The party pool their collective wisdom, with many searching their minds for clues as to what this 'thing' may be. It is most certainly an undead creature of some kind. Is there such a thing as a Wood Wraith? Or a Timber Wight?

It likely has Undead traits. Having seen all those wooden bones and fangs, it's also likely it has a Vulnerabilty to fire. It's arms are quite long, practically dragging along the ground. It likely has good reach. With all those splinters of wood over its body, getting close to one might also prove hazardous.

With nowhere in the darkness left to hide, E1 shambles towards the party with arms outstretched. It stops just before Mack and attacks! (Hit AC12 = Miss!) Fortunately for Mack, he is quick on his feet and able to dodge the blow.

E2 steps forward to be within reach of Leskni and attacks her! (5ft step to AB15. Hit AC14 and AC20. Leskni takes 5 and 12 pts respectively!) Both attacks cut quite deep in the linotaur's hide. Leskni is just outside of Osul's range for healing with the wand.

You guys lay down a round of suppressive fire, and hopefully some air support, while I charge!"

I take a 5' step (to AI19), and attack (I'm trying to give Atlas room to step up as well, but also not let the creature past us to our spellcasters. I go to town with my freshly sharpened and Blessed hands of death.

(flurry of blows: d20+5+1+1 for each blow, and d4-1+1 damage

"Did I say hands of death? I meant hands of "Gardening". Just gardening here. Tending the flowers. Nothing to see. Nothing at all. Don't mind me, Mr. Twig Monster."

OOC: Thanks for the reminder on the Bless, Armand!

ADM: I took the position because updating the WIKI is kind of fun, and you guys all post well. I'm lazy. So it's a perfect job. :) And I need something to do when my character is knocked unconscious regularly.

Flanking.... I'm trying to remember.... do I actually need to be on opposite sides of the creature to give Atlas flanking when he moves up? Or just 2 of us attacking give one of us that? I'll go check out the rules.

OOC: Read up on Flanking. Atlas, if you take a 5' step towards E1, it looks like we do NOT get flanking this round. However, we could potentially both get flanking (+2 to hit) next round with some more 5' steps as we surround it. Of course, I have to "threaten" it. I'm not sure I'm very threatening yet. :)

If rays won't work, Owen tries cones. He murmurs an incantation and a flash of shimmering, springing light bursts forth from his hand. It narrowly misses Mack and Atlas as it flashes toward the undead creature.

It gets a Will save at DC 15 to avoid being stunned and possibly blinded. (I'm going to guess that it has 3 or 4 HD and roll a 1d4 for rounds of blinded-and-stunned on top of the base 1 round of Stunned. 1d4=4.)

Then Owen moves to what he hopes is a screened location, AE19. "Hopefully I've stunned that one, guys. Cover me and I'll try for the other one next. Oh, and watch out for their reach; these things will attack you from a distance if you run up on them."

Now that they've been identified as undead and not aberrations, Owen tries to recall what they might be.

Bendoc guides Shadow northwards, and releases two sling bullets at the nearby abomination.

Armand feels conflict common to many of Gargul's clerics. Does he tend to the wounded or confront the undead? He opts for the latter, and sends forth a postive wave of energy. (Highlight to display spoiler: {Will Saves vs DC19: 18 & 15. Both fail!})

Mack steps closer and sends his hands and feet into a flurry. It reminds him very much of pruning an overgrown bush.

Owen tries yet another plan. How about a cone of colorful magic? It flashes towards the undead creature, but from what Owen can tell, it didn't do a thing to stop or slow it. Owen then falls back to what might end up being a safer location.

Leskni steps back from the creature nearest her. She fires her crossbow at the nearest beastie. (Highlight to display spoiler: {Um, can you please let me know whether your bird, Pella, is a roleplaying companion or an active companion? This determines whether a DM can target them or not. Carver once again moves the dancing lights, and then heads off! (Highlight to display spoiler: {The readied action to cast a spell was too vague, so Leskni's other action of using a crossbow took effect. I've instead finished his charge at AA10/AB11. Still in the light and outside enemy reach})

Osul begins concentrating on summoning an elemental to the party!

Armand's actions are clear. He needs to heal the party! He releases a healing wave of energy and then bravely advances to face the enemy head on, and hopefully provide a different target than the battered Osul.

Mack takes a step into the darkness, no doubt hoping someone will help him with flanking. Atlas obliges!

The pair attack the creature from both sides, and with Bless and Flanking, they actually manage to connect quite well!

Leskni casts Divine Favor on herself (what does the Linotaur have planned?) and moves to a safer location. Pella flies safely above.

Osul steps back from the creature staring him in the face. He has lost his spell, but not his life. He bravely (foolishly?) resists the urge to flee into the sky. (Highlight to display spoiler: {A 5ft step is a free action. You still had a standard and move action available. If you were interested in getting further away, perhaps consider the "withdraw" action}

Carver charges through again, but his lance harmlessly misses its intended target. The undead being likely has no idea what this thing is that keeps dashing backwards and forwards. As soon as Carver's aim improves, it will no doubt ... get the point?

Owen uses one of his daily rays, and dazzles the undead creature! (E2 gets -1 on its attacks this roundHighlight to display spoiler: {Readying an action is considered a 'standard' action - even if the action you are taking is a move action})

Seeing Osul in trouble, Bendoc spurs both himself and Shadow to face the monster head on. His move provokes an AOO from the creature. It's long claws barely missing Bendoc's head (Hit AC18 = Miss!). The claws were a distraction it seems, as both Bendoc and Shadow miss their mark too.

The enemy act...

Enemy#2 has Bendoc and Shadow right in front of it. It's dazzled, so it's attacks aren't as strong as they were a moment ago. It still manages to land one blow on Bendoc! (Miss AC8. Hit AC26. Bendoc takes 10pts damage!)

OOC: Just a few little notes on houserules, as well as my style of DMing

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS to Trey on the safe arrival of his baby boy!!! If you want to take a few days off from the Wold, just say the word and I'm sure myself or one of the others here can fill in. Do not give a second thought to the Posting Sheriff :)

You've probably noticed I use quite a few spoilers when I post. If something is unclear, or I think I might be able to help point out a useful rule, I'll drop it in a spoiler.

House rules on healing are that Nat1's get rerolled. Great news for Armand! Please feel free to reroll that Nat1 you made, and let us know the results.

Now. Flanking. When I DM I try and interpret player actions in the most favourable way. It's play-by-post so there has to be a level of understanding. To that end, if two PCs end up flanking a creature during a round, I will have their attacks go off simultaneously and both benefit from the flanking bonus. If you are both flanking a creature and one of you moves away, I'll apply the flanking bonus before applying the move. I try and interpret and order your posts in the way that most benefits the party where I can.

Armand says a quick prayer to Gargul and steps forward to face the undead. He channels Gargul's strength into his hand, and reaches out to touch the creature. (E2 is staggered for 3 rounds!). The undead is unable to defend itself against this power!

Mack lays into his target yet again, this time causing a little damage. But with Atlas helping with a flank, he does manage to sneak a little more damage in.

Atlas (under DM control) swings at the same monster, causing additional damage (Hit AC21 with flanking for 7pts damage)

Carver sets his lance and charges again. As he charges, Owen flings a spell in his direction, granting the centaur additional strength. Alas, his lance just wasn't aimed well.

Leskni edges around and fires another bolt in the vicinity of E2, and barely missing Armand!

Bendoc isn't in the mood to mess around any more. He winds up and delivers a powerful blow that sends huge chunks of undead flesh and wood flying.

Osul lays down the law. The party are here on behalf of the emissary. If these undead things know what's good for them, they'll let the party pass. Perhaps the monsters don't understand sylvan, as they do not relent on their attack. Although, undead are inherently evil. It's unlikely they would listen to any emissary.

Enemy #1 tries to strike back at Mack, and misses terribly! (Miss AC14 and AC14)

Enemy #2 is staggered, and can only manage one attack in response to Bendoc. But it's a solid blow! (Hit AC28. Nat 20. Crit confirmed on AC19. Bendoc takes 17pts damage!)

It may not seem like it, but the combat has certainly swung in the party's favor.

Atlas attacks again, but his arms are tired and he misses his mark.

Mack though is feeling pretty lucky at the moment. He's doing damage to the creature and not taking much in return. How long can his luck hold out? Just a little longer hopefully! He unleashes a flurry, and follows up with a sneak attack! It's enough to drop the undead creature to the ground dead. Not undead. Dead.

Carver does an about face and charges, this time with precision. Practise certainaly makes perfect, and he tears a massive chuck of flesh and wood away from the creature.

Armand calls upon the power of Gargul and unleashes a wave of holy energy, damaging the only foul monsterr that still stands.

Leskni moves closer to Bendoc and cast a cure spell. She's never cast one THAT powerful before! Perhaps it is the power of the Culverwood at work?

Owen tries again to hit the creature. This time with a ray of frost. He widely misses his target and narrowly misses Bendoc.

4 - Potions

Just my 2 cents. I'm completely flexible though. I have 2 Cure Light Wounds spells I can currently do (I will probably change that to 1 next chance), and I have a few potions.

Monday February 1st, 2016 6:39:18 AM

The party work together and make short work of the remaining abomination.

Then comes the matter of healing. Mack has two cure spells he can offer, Armand has healing channels that can heal all within 30ft, and there's even talk of a wand. There is discussion about who should treat what wound and with what. It sounds like there is plenty of healing abilities and spells to go around though.

Carver stamps all over the creature until he is content it no longer moves.

The party can now safely examine the corpses. It looks like some twisted humanoid/undead/plant hybrid (OOC: A variant loosely based on the Timber Wight)

Armand believes the safest option would probably be to lop off their heads just to be sure.

Mack thinks their wooden bones would do well on the campfire. And fire has been a long proven way of disposing of undead rather permanently.

The topic of loot comes up, and Mack - with the highest (only?) perception roll manages to come up with a few things that might prove useful.

- A gnarled, darkwood quarterstaff, fashioned from the leg of a fallen Timber Wight
- A darkwood lance, fashioned from the unbroken spine of a fallen Timber Wight
- A twisted, darkwood staff sling, fashioned from the broken arm of a fallen Timber Wight

Leskni wants to quickly backtrack to make sure there aren't any more. Her low-light vision can only see so far in the total darkness. These creatures blended in so well with the foliage that tracks are hard to come by. She does find that there is a distinct trail of decay heading off to the northeast. It would take significantly more light to investigate it further this night.

DM RobC - "Yeah, i need to get my beauty sleep. Wake me up when it's time"
Tuesday February 2nd, 2016 6:23:50 AM

Mack determines that with the excitement over, it's probably best to get some much needed rest.

Osul nods in agreement. Or does he just nod off? The snoring suggests the latter.

Leskni returns the the safety of the group and she too gets some rest.

Carver's eyes are already shut as soon as his head hits the hay

Armand eyes the items that Mack pulls from the carcasses of the undead. All three items radiate magic, yet he is only able to positively identify the staff sling
- +1 Darkwood Staff Sling

Owen can tell that they are all at least masterwork items, but he needs to test his knowledge of the arcane (ie: Spellcraft checks) to help ID them any further.

Armand then sets to chopping the heads off the undead - just in case.

Atlas nods, and suggests spreading the remains out quite a bit. Wouldn't want something like those regenerating during the night.

Bendoc nods along at the decision not to burn the undead. In an other environment it would be considered the norm, but in the Culverwood it often pays to be cautious.

--------------------------------------

The rest of the night (and morning) prove uneventful.

With the dawn's light, those on watch can see a trail of decay that heads north-west away from the camp - the direction that one of the undead came from. And as the others rise from their sleep they can see it as well.

A path of destruction carved through the Culverwood. Dead bushes, dying trees, grey looking patchy grass on dry soil. Bare saplings unnaturally twisted and weeds growing wild. It does not look at all healthy. The area is easily some 400ft across and stretches off further than can be seen from this position.

OOC: The rules note "When an article of magic clothing or jewelry is discovered, most of the time size shouldn't be an issue. "Nope, but I'm sure after using the lance for a while I can figure out if it's better than what I've been using. So OK if I take the lance for now?"

Rousing from his prayers to Gargul, Armand seems refreshed though grim. (new spells 1st: Bless, Protection from Evil, Sanctuary, Shield of faith-domain, 2nd Lesser Restoration, Consecrate, Silence, Bless Weapon-domain).

"What, oh, I for one am fine with whomever can use those magical items to take them."

Armand looks around, "Well I guess the trail seems fairly obvious." Perception 16, d20+4 "'Osul, does that trail happen to lead in the direction we were going? The one where the maple trees are supposed to be?"

He then looks at the weapons that were ruined by the undead's spell like power. "I don't think I can repair those items...well maybe I can if they are not magical, but not today. I think there may be a spell I've used in the past with Gargul's blessing. It is called Make Whole. But I cannot use it to repair magical items. At least not yet. I can at least store them in the bag for now."

Armand will place the Owen's crossbow and Carver's longbow and shield in the bag of holding.

"I have mending which I can always cast. And Make whole if that is insufficient. What needs to be fixed? Note, it will take some time to fix everything but I don't think that we're in a hurry.

I can do the crucial things now and the other things tonight when we camp"

Leskni will then repair whatever needs to be fixed

Owen pours a cup of wine, stirring it gently with a feather. His chanted spell helps him Identify the wooden weapons. (Spellcraft: 24, 31, 27.) While the spell is still active he looks about the area for lingering auras of the magic used to bring such decay to the Culverwood. (Knowledge (Arcana): 30.)

He smiles at Armand and Leskni when they volunteer their help fixing things: "Thanks for offering to fix our warped weapons, guys, but I don't think there's much we can do for this crossbow."

"Well, my bow is really only secondary, but I really do count on my shield, especially when I am charging into combat. Doing a charge causes me to be a lot less focused on my defense and concentrate almost exclusively on directing my attack into the target. With the shield I can use it to cover the weaker points in my armor while doing the other.
If you can fix that, I'd be very grateful."

Bendoc arises the next morning and completes his ablations before he wakes up Shadow, "Time to get up lazy." he admonishes his wolf.

As the group converses about the items Mack found Bendoc remarks, "Well if no one has a use for the sling staff I'll hold onto her." He stops to scratch his head and asks, "what next, do we back track those trees or continue with our mission."

OOC I knew the crossbow was magical but I didn't know about the bow and lance. According to the spell description I would be able to fix the crossbow once I get to level 6 because I have to be double the spell level needed to create the item to fix it. I can change out one of the second level spells on the next day and fix the bow and/or shield as long as they are not magical.

'Osul awakens for his watch with Bendoc, and towards the end begins his meditations.
After which he get to looking at things in the cold light of day.
He listens to Mack's take on the way ahead, and rubs the square inch of keratin between thumb and fingers. He recalls the map from The Tree, finds north, it in his mind over the surrounding hills. {Survival+TTT+FW+1xAidAnother = 44}
"That way exactly Mack. That way exactly Armand."
"Bendoc, keep your eyes open for acorns. And I would recommend we make better ground today."
