[Everybody take 1400 XP for the previous scene, and an additional 100 XP for the scene before that which I forgot to give out. Bad DM!]
After a short discussion, you send the messenger back with word to Boggs that he should set up the meeting. Before too long, you get his reply; you'll meet Nightblade tomorrow at the Blue Eel, which is the same place you met the first time. So, at least you know the escape routes.
Your combat was first thing in the morning, and your meeting is not until tomorrow, so you have the bulk of the day to do any errands you need to do, including scouting the Blue Eel. Or sleeping, if you're so inclined.
Alizar HP:19/19 AC: 15(T:12/FF:13) CMD:14 Wednesday February 10th, 2016 10:48:39 PM
Alizar chooses to take this time to rest and prepare new spells for he coming battle. He nods as the rest of the group decides what they will do, "Let me know if you need anything".

Var sets up a barrel as a simple sparring target in the yard and practices with his new masterwork handaxes for a bit. After a quick nap, Var believes he's ready for nearly anything.
He takes a quick stroll through Dockside with anyone else who's interested, to see how the Blue Eel looks after the riot (Perception: 20).
Toston Lotor(Hugh Crosmun) [HP:23/23; AC:18; Touch 18; FF 14] d20+13=18 ; d20+12=17 ; Thursday February 11th, 2016 1:41:12 PM
(OOC: Updated with new character sheet and rolls)
Toston accompanies Var to scope out the Eel.
"Maybe we can figure out a way to make someone invisible and then have that invisible person threaten their ranged fighters? I also think we should have Wil prepare his mist spell as it does spoil an archer's aimed if we are taking heavy fire" Toston says to Var along the way.
(Stealth:18; Perception: 17)

Lornak joins Var and Toston on their excursion to The Eel to offer diplomacy if needed. He joins the conversation without drawing any attention to himself. (Stealth d20=17)
"I recall the groups insistence that we abandon that tactic. Too few of us can see while inside them. If we could grant Darkvision to everyone that may be viable."
As he gets closer to the bar's location he goes into reconnoiter mode. (Perception d20=11)

He glances at Asteria. No. Even worse idea.
In the end, the lad approaches Wil. "Think we can go see what the odds are on our fight?" he asks.

Asteria Amarante (Genevieve) [HP: 22/35; AC: 20; Touch: 12; FF: 20; CMD: 18] Thursday February 11th, 2016 8:41:55 PM
Asteria grins and hops to her feet. Everyone was doing something, so she better be productive as well. She dusts herself off a bit and prepares to head out.
"Anyone want anything? I'm planning on getting a new axe. I can grab you something while I'm there."

"I am able to see in the dark or the fog but how much can one dark cleric do? I would be interested in this invisible idea. How can we make this happen? I still have a lot of speed and a bit of a sneak. Also, I believe we need to have some structure when we fight. I would be fighting from the rear as support for the rest. An archer... we have a healer but what else do you need of me." "What spell of Gargel should I prepare for you. I am willing to set up the mist but we have to come up with a strategy to use it."
DM Kathy Thursday February 11th, 2016 11:00:40 PM
You continue to plan and discuss strategy. Asteria takes a trip to the Full Moon Market to acquire a new weapon.
Var, Toston, and Lornak scout the Blue Eel. It looks much the same as it did the last time you were there; the damage from the riot appears to have been repaired and cleaned up. There's no sign of another riot starting anytime soon. Well, no more sign than usual. It is the docks.
The next morning, then, you meet with Nightblade. This time he has come without his escort.
[OOC: I realize many of you are still sorting out logistics, but this is just a conversation, I promise. :) You'll have time to get everything squared away before the Arena.]
You exchange greetings, and order drinks. "I'll get right to it, so to speak," Nightblade says. "I hear you're fighting the House of Silver in the Arena. We owe the House of Silver some payback, so to speak. They were the ones who tried to pin that murder on us, caused us all kinds of trouble. We'd like to see them go down. I'm assuming you'd like the same. Our interests align, so to speak."
"So I've got a proposal for you. See, the thing is, you're just down as a mercenary company. And they're just down as House of Silver. No members listed. Nobody to say how big or how small each organization is, or who belongs. We've done a bit of research, so to speak, and we think there's more of them than there are of you. So we'd like to even the odds, so to speak. We'd like to lend you some people."
"Strictly speaking, we're not supposed to do this. It's supposed to be the people who were members of your mercenary company at the time of the incident, which these won't be. But who's to say, really? What the adjudicators don't know won't hurt them. And I doubt the House of Silver will be following the rules anyway."
"So, what do you say? Could you use some extra hands, so to speak?"
Toston Lotor(Hugh Crosmun) [HP:23/23; AC:18; Touch 18; FF 14] d20+7=23 ; Friday February 12th, 2016 12:31:22 PM
Toston is a little dubious of Nightblade's offer. Nightblade is an emissary from the Darts and they are assassins. It could be possible that this offer to provide bodies may be to tie up loose ends and these bodies may turn on the party once the House of Silver is defeated. He does not voice these suspicions out loud though. Rather he sizes up Nighblade. (Sense Motive: 23)
When Toston does speak he says, "Mr. Nightblade, we have certain sensibilities that must be respected. If we choose to accept your offer what guarantee do we have that your people will follow our instructions, not get in our ways and agree to certain conditions, such as not targeting an enemy combatant once they are incapacitated? I personally do not like cheating and would rather not do this if it violates the rules of combat for this battle, but is there any precedent in the rules of the arena that would allow us to temporarily induct your people into our mercenary company, legally if we do decide to accept your offer?"
Lornak ( Frank S.) HP:32/32 AC: 16(T:13/FF:10) CMD:17 d20+6=8 ; Friday February 12th, 2016 12:54:49 PM
Lornak sits across from the Dart group and listens to Nightblade's proposal. He tries to see if Nightblade's intentions are genuine. (Sense Motive d20=8).
"Your offer is appealing and I foresee one of our compliment being fervently against an alliance with the House of Darts,... He eyes NIghtblade. ...even if its only temporary." Lornak takes a drought of his ale. "But Lem's Lung if I am not tired at constantly being at a disadvantage. Lornak says. "Our enemy fights dirty, the constituency fights dirty and "the law" is anything but fair. Lornak turns to look at Var and Toston in turn and continues. "Perhaps it is time we fought dirty?"

Alizar HP:19/19 AC: 15(T:12/FF:13) CMD:14 Friday February 12th, 2016 6:52:29 PM
As the rest of the group went about their business, Alizar took some time to contemplate the recent events, and how much things had changed in a short amount of time. It seemed like only yesterday, Alizar was in his small clinic, trying to help the few he could. Things had gotten much more complicated since then, and he was unsure what the future would hold, but he was certain that he was doing more now to help than he ever could in that back alley hole in the wall.

Alizar awoke from his rest, having spent the previous night preparing new spells for the next challenge that awaited them, he felt more refreshed now than he had in a long time. He entered what passed for a kitchen in Marsh House and prepared himself a meager morning meal. He knew the others would not be back yet from the meeting and took to busying himself preparing his gear for the arena. It was going to be an interesting day...

After contemplating a Tanglefoot Bag, Dušan decides it is too complicated to finish in time for the fight. Instead he decides to focus on Potions of Bull's Strength as they seemed very effective in the mock combat. And maybe a Potion of Shield of faith if there's time.
After six hours hunched over the flames and vials, Dušan stands up and wobbles, a little light headed from the fumes. Giggling, he announces, "Done! And I think I'm off to bed."
Dušan stumbles to his bed and sleeps off any lingering miasma's. The next morning he looks at the mess he left. Feeling slight ashamed, he straightens Lornak's station and gathers his new potions with the Barkskin potion he still had.

DM Kathy Sunday February 14th, 2016 10:09:57 PM
You consider Nightblade's offer. Some of you have questions.
Toston asks whether the Darts will follow instructions. "You'll be the ones in charge, of course," Nightblade replies. "As for guarantees--well, I'll toss that one back to you. What guarantee would you accept?"
Toston also asks if there's a way to do this within the rules. "Nope," Nightblade answers with a grin. "We'd be going rogue, so to speak. We wouldn't be the first, and I doubt we'll be the last. But this is outside the rules, make no mistake."
Toston gets the sense that Nightblade is being straight with you.
Lornak signals that he is on board, and Var asks what Nightblade has in mind. "Well, we lend you a few people," Nightblade replies. "Low-level types; just starting out. Nobody who's been visibly affiliated with the Darts, so to speak. They won't be a strong as you lot, I'm sure, but they'll pitch in and help. And maybe turn the tide."
Meanwhile, Dušan prepares some potions [OOC: that all looks okay to me], and Alizar prepares some new spells. [OOC: As long as your spells are on your character sheet, and your character sheet is linked in your header, I don't need your spell list included in your post.]
Wilford returns to the house to get some rest.
Alizar HP:19/19 AC: 15(T:12/FF:13) CMD:14 d20+8=15 ; Monday February 15th, 2016 3:30:12 AM
Alizar greets Wil with a nod as he returns to the house. Alizar could see the weariness in his eyes. "Wil, you seem troubled by something, well, more than usual anyhow. Are you alright, is there something you need?" Though he did not have much time to really get to know his companions in these last weeks, he has started to pick up a thing or two about them. He could almost feel the weight on Wil's shoulders. "You know, sometimes I feel as though the weight of this city is sort of crashing down upon me, like there is great burden, something I didn't necessarily ask for, and yet I carry all the same. Have you ever felt that way?" (Diplomacy: 15)
The words did not quite have the ring to them that Alizar intended them to, but he hoped the sincerity glimmered through anyhow.
Var (Tom I.) HP:37/37 AC:16/T:13/13 CMD:20 Monday February 15th, 2016 8:41:29 AM
Var grimaces and says "I don't much like the idea of a guild of assassins helping us, but I suppose I'd rather that then end up dead. I vote 'Yae'."
Var waits for his colleagues to decide, While he's waiting, he asks Nightblade "What have you heard about the Silver's Team that we're to fight?"
Wilford Grimly (HP:16/21; AC: 18; Touch: 12; Flat: 16; CMD: 14) Monday February 15th, 2016 11:08:14 AM
Wil smiles slightly when Alizar asked about his welfare. "To be honest, my friend, my tortured history with the Darts and my performance at the test round has me a bit paranoid. The voices in my head don't help." "I need to get some spells prepared... this is all new to me. My parents passed years ago before passing on instructions so... there's that too." "It doesn't help, a good looking rogue like me is destined to be an ugly Grim. This was recently told me my by my mother. That's just not welcome news..." Wil smiled a bit and removed his hood. "We have any food?"
Toston Lotor(Hugh Crosmun) [HP:23/23; AC:18; Touch 18; FF 14] Monday February 15th, 2016 11:23:49 AM
Toston answers Nightblade's qustion about the gaurantee, "I would ask for a guarantee that if we accept your offer the combatants we receive will not harm an incapacitated opponent, not endanger our party and follow any reasonable order that we may give, for example, if we order them to back off, they back off and not press the attack even if they think we have an advantage. We probably have a reason for asking them to back off."
Rather than giving his vote directly to Nightblade he says, "Mr. Nightblade, would it be okay if we discuss it amongst ourselves before we give you our answer? We are a democratic party and everyone should have a say in this decision, but not everyone is here. How should we contact you once we have all had a say?"
After receiving instructions on how to contact Nightblade with their answer, the gnome monk sorcerer waits until he is alone with the rest of party before making his vote known, "I want to say first, that I will go along with the majority vote, regardless of what it is. However, my individual vote is no. First off the combatants that Nightblade will provide are just starting out, so we could be leading them to their deaths. Even if they are assassins, I don't want to be responsible for an ally's death. Second, accepting their help is against the rules. Last I checked, just because everyone else is doing something isn't a reason to do something. Doing the right thing isn't always easy and doing the easy thing isn't always right, so I vote no on the offer. In closing, we all want to improve the lot of the common folk of Dirt City, so shouldn't we hold ourselves to a higher standard and set an example? If we do not cheat and win the arena we show that there is another way, a better way. Thank you."
After the voting Toston goes down to the catacombs to buy some scrolls ahead of the arena bout.
Lornak ( Frank S.) HP:32/32 AC: 16(T:13/FF:10) CMD:17 d20+9=12 ; Monday February 15th, 2016 3:44:58 PM
Lornak finds himself deeply conflicted. Toston's comments made to them in confidence raised many emotions in him. He very much wants to gain an advantage against the house of Silver in the upcoming arena fight but at what cost? He considers himself a good person. Noble, loyal, honorable. There is nothing wrong in wanting to see justice done. However, he suddenly realizes that allying himself with the Darts would compromise his morality. He becomes very, very angry. He didn't even see that he was lowering himself to the level of his enemies. He speaks to no one in particular. "...if it wasn't for Toston..."
Lornak is visibly agitated when he speaks to his companions outside The Blue Eel. "My vote is no." He says with venom. Lornak paces back and forth. "I can't believe the drove me to consider allying with Assassins!" He then rams his fist into the nearest wall and then swiftly gets up very near to his companions and says angrily; "When we meet them on the field I'm not holding anything back." With that yanks his hood down over his face and swiftly turns, disappearing into the crowd. (Stealth d20=12)
Wilford Grimly (HP:16/21; AC: 18; Touch: 12; Flat: 16; CMD: 14) Monday February 15th, 2016 5:40:42 PM
"Who are we showing if we are dead?" Wil asked. "If we lose the battle we may lose several members of the team. I'm not willing to risk friends over the desire to do the right thing. As far as losing the new combatants we will have to do our best to keep them alive. That would be the good thing to do. If we die we cannot help the common folk anyways." Wil chews on some chicken he found in the kitchen. Large sacks have swollen under his eyes and he wobbles slightly more than normal.
Dušan (Erik) [HP:26/26; AC:12(14); Touch: 12; FF:10; CMD:13 Monday February 15th, 2016 7:03:17 PM
As the group gets back together, Dušan gives Hmerrin and Asteria a Potion of Bull's Strength and Lornak a Potion of Barksin. "I finished these last night, Had some extra time so I made a Potion of Shield of Faith if anyone would like it." Smiling he says to himself, "Sometimes I even impress myself."
Raising his voice back to be heard by everyone, he announces, "I have enough materials and time tonight to make two or three more potions. If anyone wants something, let me know now or forever hold your peace. Or hold it till I have more time after our 'trial'."
Listening to Toston he's nearly convinced, but his survival instincts kick in. In the back of his head he hears a voice. One he hadn't heard in so long he hoped it had pass. His childhood friend Johnathan. "Dušan, you shouldn't do this."
Dušan suddenly outbursts "Blast it, Johnathan! I can't always be a saint!"
Somewhat surprised at his own outburst, he turns to Wilford with a little more compassion for what the new Cleric is going through. He sighs, and weighs in with his own vote, "I say we take them up on their offer. We're no good to anyone dead."
Hmerrin(HP 31/31 AC20/14t/16ff, CMD 19) Monday February 15th, 2016 8:31:18 PM
"Could SOMEBODY please go with me down below and find out where those oddsmakers have us on the fight?" Hmerrin asks.
"If we severely outmatched, and the odds will show it, then its time to grab all the help we can get."
Hmerrin considers, "Warrd's Own, even if the odds are even, we should get help. Silver will. And I don't much like being dead."
Asteria Amarante (Genevieve) [HP: 22/35; AC: 20; Touch: 12; FF: 20; CMD: 18] Monday February 15th, 2016 9:49:10 PM
"Oh yeah. Being dead isn't good. Yeah, we should probably take their advice. Even if, you know, we have morals and stuff. What morals do we have if we're dead? I'll tell you what, nothing. We'll be dead. And I kinda don't want to die. So, like, if you don't want to work with these people, cool. Stay away from them, but don't rebel against them. They wanna take these baddies down just as much as we do."
When Asteria finishes saying what she wants about the whole incident, she turns to Dusan and accepts the Potion with a friendly smile.
"Ah, cool! Now I can bust some faces in without needing one of you magicy people to step in! Thanks for this drink thing."
DM Kathy Monday February 15th, 2016 10:51:06 PM
At Marsh House, Alizar takes some time to help Wilford with his misgivings, while Dušan distributes his freshly-made potions.
At the Blue Eel, Var is all in favor of accepting Nightblade's offer, but Toston asks for time to consider.
"Of course," Nightblade replies. "Stop by Chuffer's Fish in Dartville, and give a message to the girl behind the counter. She'll know how to get it to me."
Toston is inclined to refuse the offer, and persuades Lornak to his point of view. Wilford, Dušan, and Asteria, on the other hand, express a disinclination for being dead, and want to accept the offer.
Hmerrin wants to find out the odds on the fight before deciding, but also does not want to be dead.
Incidentally, you can probably get a good feel for the odds without having to go Below. There are a couple of decent betting shops in Wardd's Ward, and there are sure to be a few bookies in the Full Moon Market.

Alizar returned Wil's smile, happy to have been some help, at the very least. He followed Wil into the kitchen and shared a meal with him, not saying much more on the subject, knowing the message got across. If he required any more assistance, he need only ask.
Var (Tom I.) HP:37/37 AC:16/T:13/13 CMD:20 Tuesday February 16th, 2016 8:38:25 AM
To Toston's argument Var replies "I get it. Like I said, I ain't happy about getting help from the Darts, either, but we're no help to anyone dead. It's a slippery slope and all that, we take their help now it's harder to say 'no' later. But look, Boggs seems to trusts this Nightblade enough, and that's enough for me, too. If Nightblade is willing to help, that's as good as Boggs helping in my mind.
Hmerrin suggests checking on their odds, Var agrees. "If they're close enough odds, I'll consider changing my vote, but if the odds are stacked against us I keep my stance."

I would be interested in anything that would help me distract any other archer opponents. Toston, mentioned an invisibility potion. Not even sure how easy that would be. I believe I should look into some special bolts to fire off. I need to run to the Catacomb to grab a couple. Any suggestions?" "Oh... I was supposed to get some rest.. so much going on.. "Oh. Well, alright then," he concludes lamely.

When the group discusses the Nightblade offer he listens but the talk only bolsters his resolve. "This is wrong." He says, shaking his head and then promptly leaves the Great Room.
Upon entering his room he prepares for the battle that he knows will cost him dearly.

Asteria waits for the meeting with Nightblade to conclude, then heads out to the marketplace to buy herself that awesome new axe she had been wanting for so long, as well as stopping to get a buckler for Lornak. After paying up the 20 gold for her new Greataxe and grabbing the buckler, Asteria returns home to the Marsh House and hands off the buckler. After a mostly uneventful day, the barbarian goes to take a nap in a unclaimed room. If anyone should need her, all they would need to do is knock. Or come charging in, yelling loudly. The second action might anger the sleeping barbarian, however, and no one likes an angry barbarian.

The last of the potions and gear are distributed, and you decide to take a little stroll to determine the odds on the Arena fight.
You visit a couple of betting parlors in Wardds' Ward, and find that you are definitely underdogs in the coming fight. The odds aren't hugely against you, but they are against you.
Toston tries to overhear conversations about the upcoming fight, but is disappointed. Nobody seems to be talking about it.
Var (Tom I.) HP:37/37 AC:16/T:13/13 CMD:20 Wednesday February 17th, 2016 9:05:43 AM
Var had hoped that the odds would be against them enough that his argument would carry more weight, but that can't be helped.
He tries one more argument: "Regardless of our own lives, this is our chance t' cut off the head of the House of Silver. They've already done so much damage, if'n we lose to them they'll get free reign of the streets. Now, I ain't gonna run from this fight, no matter what the odds, but we'd be savin' this city and ourselves from a mess of trouble if we accepted a little help. I still say we take the offer, but I think everyone should weigh in 'fore we decide."

Asteria is getting a new larger, more damaging axe, Lornak has a new buckler, Wil is thinking more tactically with his spells, I purchased some scrolls that I did not have for the previous battle and can stun things from both range and close range with the scroll or my stunning fists. We can win this without cheating or putting some green horns in danger as long as we keep our heads out there."
Wilford Grimly (HP:16/21; AC: 18; Touch: 12; Flat: 16; CMD: 14) Wednesday February 17th, 2016 12:50:48 PM
Wil wakes from his rest with an idea. "We need to drum up this idea that we are incompetent and then someone needs to bet on us winning. We need to have the worse odds. I think we should go out to the city and start a fight, only to lose. Show the city that we can't win a thing." I need to find some interesting bolts.. He also prepares: Summon Monster I Guidance - 0 level Bless and Command

Hmerrin sighs. "I vote yes. A card up your sleeve is cheating. Staying alive in a fight you're being forced into is a whole 'nother bucket o' slop."
Lornak ( Frank S.) HP:32/32 AC: 16(T:13/FF:10) CMD:17 d20+9=24 ; Wednesday February 17th, 2016 6:46:52 PM
Lornak hears the chatter in the Great Room and ignores it. He has had his say and deep down knows what the consensus will be. As he slides his wetstone along his dagger's blade he listens to the chime it makes. He moves on to is Rapier. As the day progresses he finishes his preparations on his gear and takes an inventory of what he will have when he enters the Arena;
Silk tunic and leather pants. Studded Leather Armor and buckler, oiled and polished. Cloak, cleaned and pressed. Hand Crossbow with 10 regular bolts and 16 made of silver, all containing rather sharp points and all in their appropriate pouches. In a scabbard his Rapier, also sharpened. Swordbreaker dagger, tines clean. Dagger made of Silver, sharpened. 1 vial of Cure Light Wounds and 1 vial of Barkskin in his belt pouch.
When his preparations are finished he straps his rapier to his waist and throws on his leather and cloak. He walks over to the window and opens it. He closes his eyes and takes in the night's air. He pulls down the hood of his cloak and crawls outside. If there is a possibility that he may die tomorrow he wants to enjoy one last good meal. He goes out into the night in search of a quiet Inn. (Stealth d20=24)
(OOC, if others want to join they can follow. Also, if if breaks group continuity, he will just stay in Marsh House)
Dušan (Erik) [HP:26/26; AC:12(14); Touch: 12; FF:10; CMD:13 d20+7=19 ; Wednesday February 17th, 2016 9:32:05 PM
"Yep, I still like the idea of having help."
Dušan looks around to see where one can place a bet and considers some Divine Guidance to see if he can bet on himself (Knowledge Local D20+6+1 Guidance = 19)
DM Kathy Wednesday February 17th, 2016 11:02:56 PM
You continue to discuss the relative merits of getting help from the darts. Var and Dušan are still in favor. Toston and Lornak are still opposed.
Hmerrin adds his name to the "yes" column.
Wilford doesn't give his opinion, but instead begins working on a scheme to get the odds even more against you so you can make a killing by betting on yourselves. Of course, to collect, you'll have to survive the actual killing in the Arena.
However the decision comes out, Lornak decides he needs some alone time. He gathers his things and leaves to find an inn.
The rest of you can continue to discuss, but if Wilford, Asteria, and Alizar haven't weighed in by tomorrow, we'll assume the vote stands.
Asteria Amarante (Genevieve) [HP: 35/35; AC: 20; Touch: 12; FF: 20; CMD: 18] Wednesday February 17th, 2016 11:34:25 PM
Asteria still says 'yes', regardless of whatever the other's are saying. Barbarians can be stubborn. Eventually, she wakes from her nap and decides to get something done. A hungry barbarian is just as bad as an angry one, so she goes to prepare a meal. Can't be too hard, right? Asteria takes whatever food she can and makes a small meal for herself and whoever wants to join her.
"Well, it's not much for a last meal, but if I'm gonna die tomorrow, this is good enough for me."
Over her meal, the barbarian discusses her battle plan for the next day. If no one joins her, she would just mutter to herself.
"So, I got this cool axe, and I'm thinking of calling it Fluffy. You know, just for the laughs. I'll probably call it something else, though. It's not too fluffy. I think in the battle I'll stick with my main axe unless things get dicey, then I'll drop my shield and axe and take out Fluffy."
Toston Lotor(Hugh Crosmun) [HP:23/23; AC:18; Touch 18; FF 14] Thursday February 18th, 2016 2:21:59 PM
"Are we allowed to bet on ourselves to win?" Toston asks his friends, "Is it legal, I mean I get that there could be ramifications if we threw the fight and bet against ourselves, but if we bet on ourselves and win is there any conflict of interest there?"
"I still have a decent amount of gold, so if that is allowed maybe we should place some bets?" He asks
Alizar HP:19/19 AC: 15(T:12/FF:13) CMD:14 Thursday February 18th, 2016 6:23:28 PM
(O.O.C. My posts might be a bit short today and tomorrow, I'm out of town for a few days and will be posting on my phone)
Alizar listened intently to everyone's plan. The weight of the coming fight had set him into an introspective mood. If they needed his insight, they would ask for it.
Dušan (Erik) [HP:26/26; AC:12(14); Touch: 12; FF:10; CMD:13 Thursday February 18th, 2016 7:27:01 PM
Dušan nods to Toston, "I was just thinking the same thing. Betting on ourselves hardly seems like an issue in our quaint city."
Dušan continues to look for a place to place bets, eager to get back to marsh house and finish up the last few potion requests.
Wilford Grimly (HP:16/21; AC: 18; Touch: 12; Flat: 16; CMD: 14) Thursday February 18th, 2016 9:15:32 PM
"I'm always up for a fight and if I manage to find those bolts I want I will be better then some green arrow guy. I saw this guy once, had a bunch of arrows and knew how to shoot them. He had this obsession with green. Never really understood that."
Hmerrin(HP 31/31 AC20/14t/16ff, CMD 19) Thursday February 18th, 2016 9:41:12 PM
Hmerrin breaks out a long stick, and begins whittling on it to give his hands something to do.
"Never sat around waiting to start a fight before," he notes. "Don't much like the feeling."
At Toston's comment, the lad chuckles. "What're they gonna do? Throw you in the Arena?"
Var (Tom I.) HP:37/37 AC:16/T:13/13 CMD:20 Thursday February 18th, 2016 10:06:22 PM
Having said his peace, Var waits for everyone to weigh in. Once a solid majority forms, he does one of the following:
If the majority is against, Var spends the rest of the time before the trial resting, having made all his other preparations.
If the majority is for, he goes to meet Nightblade at the selected place. He lets Nightblade know that they want to take him up on his offer.
DM Kathy Thursday February 18th, 2016 10:45:16 PM
Although Toston and Lornak remain opposed to the idea of accepting help from the Darts, the rest of the group is either for it, or indifferent.
The motion carries. Var (and anyone who cares to accompany him) ventures to Dartville and finds Chuffer's Fish. The shop is set up like a fish-shop--you've been in enough of them to know--but there are no fish on the counter or on the back tables. There is no trace of fish. The place doesn't even smell of fish. You doubt there has been a single fish in here for the last year at least.
The shop-girl smiles brightly and asks if she can be of service. You give her the message for Nightblade, and she nods. "Come back in an hour," she says.
An hour later, you return to find Nightblade in the fish-shop. "It's all arranged," he says. "My extras will meet you outside the Arena tomorrow."
Those of you who want to place bets on yourself may do so. [OOC: Your "winnings" are coming out of your treasure total for the module, just so you know. :) ]
Those of you who visit the Catacombs have your purchases in hand well before day's end.
Now it's just a matter of making final preparations and agreeing on a strategy.

Toston suggests I make some spell changes.. Wil follows the others into Chuffer's Fish. He watches the transaction from a distance. When they return Wil states he will play the part of the archer in the party. The new bolts he will receive should be helpful plus the spells. Prepares: Divine Favor Guidance - 0 level Bless and Magic Weapon
Lornak ( Frank S.) HP:32/32 AC: 16(T:13/FF:10) CMD:17 d20+9=17 ; Friday February 19th, 2016 1:01:23 PM
Lornak does his best to enjoy his meal but the food and ale go down bitter. He enjoyed the night air as he traveled here but now the air is stale. The events of the last few weeks have left Lornak bitter. He has become hardened. He chews his boar roast and ruminates on his previous life before Dirt City. How those days tasted so sweet.
"Why did you send me here... what good has come of it...?" He thinks to himself. He drinks a swig from his ale. His eyes scan the room. He listens to the comings and goings of the patrons for any talk about the arena, their opponents and the betting. (Perception d20=17)
"I don't think we've made the slightest impact for these good people. If we die tomorrow, no one will even notice... Is that what i'm left with? Revenge? I guess if I go, I can at least take some of them with me..." Lornak continues to eat his meal.
Toston Lotor(Hugh Crosmun) [HP:23/23; AC:18; Touch 18; FF 14] Friday February 19th, 2016 2:40:57 PM
Toston does not go to Chuffer's Fish with the rest of the group. He had made his opinion on the subject known. He hopes that none of their allies get slain in the upcoming battle and that they can follow orders and don't get in the way.
He does however buy a quiver full of silvered arrows for the upcoming match and plans to carry the silvered arrows with him into battle in case he needed a ranged option to deal with the lycanthropes.
Toston grabs a light meal then retires to his room where he takes out the Gold Dragonette outfit.
He readies his masterwork kama, his silver nunchaku, his cold iron siangham, his long bow and its silver arrows. He also takes the scrolls that he bought, the wand of magic missiles, the potion of cure light wounds, the potion of cat's grace, the fortune cookie and the tinsel.
He is as prepared as he can be. His plan is to buff himself with a number of the scrolls immediately before entering the arena to get maximum effect. He plans to be really hard to hit thanks to mage armor, protection from evil, cat's grace and shield. He will also be really fast because of expeditious retreat and will hold the charge of shocking grasp to pack an extra punch on the first enemy he attacks.
Dušan (Erik) [HP:26/26; AC:12(14); Touch: 12; FF:10; CMD:13 Sunday February 21st, 2016 4:25:29 PM
Dušan approches the bookie. "I'd like to place 200 Gold on the underdogs for the arena fight tomorrow. There's something about a plucky underdog I can't help but support."
Dušan then catches up with those who go for lunch. He does his best to lighten the mood of his friends, but as usual his jokes fall a little flat. With the between hard decisions and looming fights, he finds it hard to put forth the enthusiasm that normally carries his odd sense of humor.
After the meal he hurries home to finish the last couple of potions that were requested. Barksin potion are a but cost prohibitive at this time, so he focuses on Shield of Faith. He makes two more Shield of Faith (lvl 2, 2 min) Potions, and gives one to Toston, one, to Wilford and the remaining one from the last batch to Asteria.
(OOC: Should I take 200 GP off my sheet now for the bet, or just assume the bookies will remove it from Dušan's corpse if he dies.
Dušan's Alchemy Potions from his personal wealth, as I understand it, even if he gives them to other characters. Don't subtract their cost from your character's wealth. I'll try to keep track, but please let me know when you are using one of Dušan's potions.
The Shield of Faith potion is a level 1 spell with a caster of level 2. 1*2*50=100*75% = 75 * 2 = 150, DC 7.
Dušan rolls Achemy 8 + 4 from Spirit Cauldren +1 Guidance +2 Alchemst's Lab = +15.
Taking 10 for 25's on the tests.
2 hours a piece for a total of 4 hours
Do you want me to continue to put the Alchemy math in the post?)

Upon returning from the fishery, Var avoids Toston's gaze as much as possible. He's not proud of the decision, but the group voted.
He goes out to a nearby pub and grabs a few pints with whoever is interested, but makes a point not get too tipsy, and retires early.

Finally, he goes back to bed.
And, gets back up.
The young man steps out into the back, and goes through his axe drills. Nothing too strenuous, but a nice and easy walkthrough.
