Preemptive Strike

[DM Hugh] - 2 if by Sea...
Wednesday February 24th, 2016 12:53:21 PM

(OOC: First off please everyone take 4000 xp for the previous scene)

Rillett congratulates Jozhur on his decision to take Sarl aboard. When Rillett tries to divine what they will find at the bottom of the sea he is literally floored by his prediction and tells his friends what he saw.

Zeoll welcomes the old sailor aboard and then regales him with tales of Eberyon. That night he studies the map but is unable to make heads or tales from his historic knowledge or his knowledge of linguistics. The writing is unlike anything he's ever seen. That night he seeks his dreams regarding how best to use the map and he sees a sliver compass fast approaching.

Reggie was a little concerned about Jozhur's comment, but later decides that any crewing that does not require her to work in chains is an improvement. Reggie bunks on the Lionfish and wishes her new friends luck in their divinations.

Magana provides a silent companionship for Reggie until she is safely aboard the Lionfish, then takes her own rest at Portside House. Oddly, she dreams of bacon.

Terser enjoys the night air along with Reggie and Magana, and accompanies the Tauress back to the house once Reggie is safely stowed and sleeping off the evening's celebrations. Terser stumbles a bit himself before catching his balance. It seems that Reggie can almost keep up drinking with the hardier races.

Jozhur extends a hand to Sarl, "In that case, welcome to the Lionfish." He sees that Sarl is introduced to Tula. Jozhur is not too shocked by Rillet's divination. "Yes, he should be expecting us. The next logical step for us would be too seek him out and destroy him."

Aex also is curious to learn where the journey will bring them. She hopes to prepare the right spells that will keep her and her friends safe in this underwater adventure.

=====================================
Zeoll's dream of the approaching compass is interrupted by tapping on his window. The Taur opens the window to find the pelican and albatross he charmed on the balcony.

Speaks with animals : Highlight to display spoiler: {"There is a dark ship on the water raining fire and stone from the sky." The albatross says. "It is approaching fast", The Pelican adds.}

A few short moments after the animals show up the alarm bells start ringing.

Meanwhile, Reggie is awaken from her slumbers aboard the deck of the Lionfish. She looks out to sea.

Reggie: Highlight to display spoiler: {You see two figures in a rowboat headed for the pier at breakneck speed.}

It seems like your plans for an expedition need to be put on hold at least for the immediate future...

Reggie stumbles to see the commotion, Making her way topside, she struggles to see what the heck is going on. glancing down at the water, she notices the long boat heading to shore.

She shakes off the booze for now and pulls out her spyglass and scans the horizon for trouble. she is searching for the flag of her former captors at first.

{Perception roll = 19}

Regardless, the long boat is of some concern, Reggie turns to ring the alarm. she then tries to hail the two in the Longboat.

Hail, you there, what's all the commotion?

Realizing that the alarm is not regarding burning pig flesh, Magana pulls herself awake, equips for battle, and heads downstairs.

[DM Hugh] - The Bad Guys are coming, The Bad Guys are coming...
Thursday February 25th, 2016 2:15:18 PM

Reggie stumbles up top side to see what all the commotion is about. She uses her spyglass to scan the horizon for sails, but does not see any yet. She questions the pair in the rowboat, "Hail, you there, what's all the commotion?" before adding the Lionfish's bell to that of the warning bells of Bonetown.

Magana dreams of bacon, but is interrupted by the alarm bell. She girds herself for battle and then races downstairs.

Jozhur scrambles out of bed and grabs his things. He tells his friends to rally at the Lionfish and then proceeds to check on the crystal.

Aex tells Jozhur she will check the crystal. She shifts into an eagle and takes to the skies out her window.

At the sound of the distant alarm, Rillett scrambles out of bed. He hastily gets dressed and grabs his stuff.

"Jeez, that's louder than Terser's snoring."

===================================================
(OOC: It will not take long for Aex to get an aerial view of the crystal and fly back)

After Aex relays what she saw to the others, the party heads to the Lionfish but on the way to the ship you run into Enoch, Linus and Coer standing on the docks passing a spyglass between each other.

The three men are standing near the Lionfish and everyone can clearly see two men scramble from the boat that had crashed into the pier looking disheveled and with burnt clothes. They cry out, “Our village was attacked! They are coming!” in response to Reggie's question.

Rillett: Highlight to display spoiler: {From your position on the pier you can see black sails on an eerily glowing ship on the horizon.}

At the offer of the mage Armor, Reggie does not answer immediately, she seems to be thinking about it. Will it hurt? I mean do you have to do some weird ritual or something?

If no then she does say yes and closes her eyes waiting for the magic to make her eyes pop out or her hair turn green or something like that.

Once the magic torture session is over, Reggie starts to scan the skies as well as the seas for approaching whatevers. mainly in the direction the two rowers came from.

Then he will holler towards town, "SPREAD THE WORD. TELL EVERYONE TO TAKE COVER. GET THE LEAST ABLE TO SHELTER, AND THE STRONGEST SHOULD BE READY TO DEFEND THEM. BUT THIS IS NOT YOUR FIGHT - THIS FIGHT IS FOR THE BLACK LIONS, AND WE'LL DO WHAT IS NEEDED TO PROTECT THE TOWN."

Terser rolls out of bed, breastplate already locked into place after cleaning it before bed. It is a matter of moments before he is able to run downstairs and join the rush to the docks.

When he sees the black sailed ship, he is both exciting and dreading another battle on the ocean. a water walk spell would be nice as well, if someone has one to share around.

He has had the same minor complement of magic for weeks, never having had the opportunity to cast any of it. He hopes that when he has to, he knows how. But as long as he doesn't need it, then things are probably going relatively well.

[DM Hugh] - It's coming right for us...
Friday February 26th, 2016 2:23:30 PM

Zeoll starts casting a number of spells on himself and drinks and applies some items before asking Reggie if she would care for mage armor.

Reggie asks Zeoll " Will it hurt? I mean do you have to do some weird ritual or something?"
She closes her eyes waiting for the magic to wash over her before scanning the horizon.

Rillett points out the glowing ship with black sails and then casts air walk on Magana. He then asks how best they can secure the Lionfish.

Terser wakes up and throws on his breast plate before joining those on the docks. He says water walk could be nice.

Rillett casts air walk on Terser and prepares to cast water walk.

Jozhur races towards the Lionfish.

Magana's zest for battle is dulled by her lack of bacon.

=================================================================

Enoch, Linus and the other beings they were standing with get some rum into the two oarsmen. The men explain that their village was attacked by a ship launching rocks and balls of fire. The village was quickly destroyed and set flame and the attacking ship didn’t even stop, it is headed towards Bonetown!

In the wake of the alarm and everyone running it was easy to overlook the fact that Enoch, Linus and Coer had an elf, a half-orc and a human that you don’t know standing with them. After seeing to the two men on the rowboat, Linus makes introductions. The human is dressed in a fine azure blue outfit with gold ship’s wheel buttons and a matching hat. His bearing is stern and he has a scowl on his face. Linus introduces this man as Reince Winthrope, captain of the Profitable Venture a lightly armed Caravel of the Shipping Guild. There is also a tall lithe male elf with platinum blonde hair in a single long tight braid and a scar over his left eye. This elf is wearing a sleeveless crimson vest with a long scabbard strapped to his back. He seems annoyed. Linus introduces this elf as Mornenion Aearion, a pirate captain loosely aligned with the Elfbloods who captain’s the Brig Mako. Lastly there is a half-orc wearing a red bandana and white canvas long sleeve shirt. The half-orc flashes you a toothy grin. Linus introduces him as Zarod Xug captain of the brigantine Squid’s Beak. Besides the Lionfish, Profitable Venture, the Mako, and the Squid's Beak are the only ships moored on the dock currently.

He looks out onto the waters. Perception 39.

Zeoll says to Reggie and the Lionfish crew that the oncoming ship is flying Billoopl’s symbol. And the flying toad man the party fought earlier is in command. There are at least six ballista in banks of three on the side facing us. And a few catapults. And, the catapults are crewed by skeletons aimed at Bonetown.

"I hope somebody has the sense to activate the crrystal the witches made forr us!" says Zeoll.

He watches the ship coming forward and tries to guess at its rate of approach. He wants to shoot at it, but he needs to guess at range and speed. How long before it is in bow-range, say 500 to 1,000 feet? Does Zeoll have time to cast, or must he act NOW? If the kindly DM can give us a distance and a guess at speed, then Zeoll can plan his immediate actions.

"Magana, Terser - if you can get moving I will teleport some of us out there once you're in position. Stay low. Mind those balista."

"As for the teleport, I can take Jozhur and either Reggie or Zeoll. Last time I tried this, I 'bout killed Jozhur, so I'll wait until Magana and Terser are there."

"If anyone has a better plan, speak up."

"Now, if you'll come close, I'll cast Water Walk on everyone but Aex - she may want a form that goes beneath the waves. That will give us options and be a back up of you two lose Air Walk. This will last about 15 min."

Rillett casts Water Walk.

[DM Hugh] - Negotiations While Under Fire...
Monday February 29th, 2016 10:08:11 AM

Zeoll reassures Reggie and then cast mage armor on her. He then looks out to see and relays what he sees concerning Billoopl's ship.

Rillett confirms what Zeoll saw and then instructs Linus to activate the crystal. He asks the captains to get their ships ready.

He then comes up with a plan to teleport some of the lionfishers out while Magana and Terser air walk out there after buffing everyone with water walk.

Magana starts air walking towards the enemy ship.

Reggie is wary of Zarod and tells Rillett to get her out there.

Jozhur enforces the need to defend Bonetown to the captains. He then joins Coer in preparation for getting the Lionfish out there saying he would like Rillett to get him out there after Magana and Terser are there. He then readies his bow.

Zeoll says he wants the water walk, but not the teleport and starts heading out towards the ship.

Aex informs her friends of her spell capabilities and then orders LStin to see to the children. She asks her friends for direction in where she should be in the scheme of the battle plan.

Jozhur introduces himself formally to the other captains and directs Aex to help the ships close the distance. Directing them to get to it and start softening it up.

=============================================
Coer and Zarod immediately start barking orders asking their respective crews to get things up and running. Reince and Mornenion stand pat. Reince has a mischevious glint in his eyes and Mornenion pouts.

Reince says, "I will lend you the support of my ship in exchange for claim to half those alchemical fire barrels those villagers said they had."

Mornenion adds, "The Mako is at your service for the low low price of 70% of any treasure on board. We are not a charity."

Rillett will turn to Reince and Mornenion and activates Eagle's Speldor from his circlet. "I can see that you are both shrewd businessmen, and probably good prates as well. I'm sure you are here in Bonetown and not Rum because this town better suits your, er, particular approach to trade. But, it doesn't take much insight to see that our fates have just become linked. If Bonetown falls, it seems likely your vessels will be lost along with it. And even if your ships did escape, you came to Bonetown instead of Rum for a reason. I think it is in all our interests to see Bonetown survive.

"As for your request, defense of the harbor and the docks comes under Linus here, and I do not speak for him. Town decisions are made by the Captain's Council, of which we are but a part - just as you two are. But I can tell you that we have some sway with both. I assure you that we will do our best to see that all those that fight this threat receive a share of the munitions and cargo on board those ships. It also seems likely that those that would abandon us in our hour of need would no longer be welcome here."

(Diplomacy 26, Sense Motive 32 to see how this was received.)

"Terser, with Zeoll gone I can take you directly to the ship with Reggie and Jozhur. If you have any buffs to cast, this will give you a moment to do so."

Control Winds...
Aex controls a 400ft radius cilinder for 100 mins. She has the potential to drive the windspeed up to a windstorm but that would also endanger the friendly ships so let's stick with a severe wind... She summons a simple blast blowing from the Bonetown shore out into sea, engulfing the three allied ships and the enemy. The allied ships are trying to get to the enemy as fast as possible so they'll make good use of the wind to close that distance faster. The enemy will be blown off course or perhaps even away from shore and I'm assuming he'll try to fight the wind. Hopes are that the ship now fails to target Bonetown and at the same town that the spells helps the allied ships close range as fast as possible.

Three Rounds of Actions:

1) Zeoll casts True Strike and walks another 70 ft forward.

2) Zeoll turns invisible (move action domain power) and fires an evil outsider Bane Arrow at Mister Toad. Distance is 400-70=330. Range Increment (110 ft) results in a -4 to hit. Divine Favor gives a +3 to hit. Invisible gives a +2 to hit and the Toad loses his dex bonus. Heroism +2 to hit. Size -1. True Strike = +20. BAB +4 Dex +2, Enhancement +1 / +3 vs evil outsider. NET +29 or +31 vs evil outsider.

Zeoll rolls to hit vs the Toad's AC without dex; he hits AC38 or AC40 if it is an evil outsider. Assuming it is, Zeoll inflicts 1d8+2d6 +3 +3 = 16 damage.

3) Zeoll casts True Strike and walks 70 ft closer.

(OOC2: The reason why I said 3 rounds of action is it takes 3 rounds of action to load a catapult, but now we will go round by round)

Rillett continues to try to convince the holdouts Reince and Morenion to aid in the defense of the harbor. Jozhur tries to aid Rillett in convincing them to help as well. He then casts see invisibility on himself and protection from evil on Terser

Terser asks Aex for stoneskin.

Aex obliges and then whips up a strong win to help propel their allies out to sea and hopefully blow the enemies off course or at least throw their aim off.

Jozhur jumps onto the Lionfish and downs a potion of shield.

Magana continues to approach the ship. (OOC: I am assuming 15 foot zig zags, she is 130 feet out from the enemy ship from her 3 rounds)

Zeoll casts true strike and continues walking forward. He then turns invisible and fires his outsider bane arrow at the evil toad demodand. The arrow strikes true and the demon drops to the deck taking cover behind the gunwales.

==========================
Reince and Morenion look at each other and then back at Rillett.
"Since we have your word that you will make sure we will be compensated by the harbor master and captain council we will help out." Reince says.

"What he said, plus I mean you treasure is no good if you don't have a ship, but if you welch on the debt you will regret it." Morenion adds.

Rillett Highlight to display spoiler: {Morenion means it.}

They start readying their ships to assail the glowing ship.

Linus produces 4 shot glasses and gives one to each of Coer, Zarod, Reince and Morenion, "These have been magicked to allow for communication over short distances. I would like them back when you are done with them." Linus then falls back with his men to help combat the fire at the Sea Shanty.

(OOC: You can use the shot glass Coer has to coordinate with the other captains)

Some of the skeletons start moving the catapults to adjust for the wind spoiling their aim. The demodand tries to summon some help but his ability fizzles.

A few other skeletons fire one of the ballistas at Magana but the missile misses.

The 4 allied ships leave their berths.

Zeoll starts the round with an active True Strike. If he fails to attack, his spell is wasted. He walks over the waves another 70 ft closer to the enemy ship. He is now (400-210) 190 ft from the ship.

The old liontaur looks to see if he had fire at Mister Toad at all, that is, does he have total cover or some lesser cover?

If he can get any shot in at all, Zeoll fires another evil outsider bane arrow. He is a range increment closer but not invisible, so he is still at +31 to hit. He hits AC48 for 21 damage.

If the Toad has total cover, Zeoll needs to attack something else. So he fires at a skeleton. Assuming it is NOT an evil outsider, Zeoll hits AC46 for 19 damage (less DR, he expects).

(OOC: As far as I know based on the description on the woldipedia, the Lionfish does have a ballista of its own)

Jozhur orders Coer to take them in and fires an arrow at one of the skeletons manning the ballista. The arrow bounces off the skeleton's breastplate.

Rillett hops on the Lionfish and readies his dimension door after thanking Reince and Morenion for their assistance.

Reggie on board the Lionfish asks for any buff that will help her.

Terser waits to get in range, but looks for any of the enemies casting spells, readying to use his ring.

Aex stays with the ship trying to use the wind to speed their flotilla towards the enemy and hopefully throw the aim off of the skeletons. She then buffs Reggie with stoneskin.

From his vantage walking the surface of the sea, Zeoll can't see the demodand behind the gunwhale, but he can see the skeletons. Zeoll's arrow strikes the skeleton and he surmised right that it is not an evil outsider.

The Demodand uses the magic circle against good spell-like ability centered on itself.

One of the ballista bolts launches from the ghost ship. The missile hurtles toward the Squids beak's sails and rips a gash in them for 21 damage.

The three catapult skeleton crews continue to reload their respective catapults. (2/3 rounds elapsed to reload)

The ballista crew that fired last round, starts reloading the ballista. The rest of the ballista crew adjust their aims.

The allied ships move closer to the enemies. Some of the crew on those ships start prepping their ranged siege weapons to return fire.

"Oh, yeah, About that big frog-demon thing. It's still there - it's just invisible. I'll keep you guys posted on it's location. Remember, it can swallow you whole after it grabs you with it's tongue. Be sure to keep a weapon handy in case you need to cut yourself out of it's gullet."

Zell uses a run to go 280 ft toward the ship, actually to one side, to AF28. He tries to use the bulk of the ship as cover so that those on deck cannot see him unless they go to the side and look down.

(OOC1: The ship actually tacked to the side so Magana is under the stern and Zeoll is on one side, but the flotilla is approaching the ghost ship broad side.)

(OOC2: reminder about the demodand : This creature appears as a tall, powerful gray-skinned humanoid with green eyes and a long, oval, amphibious head. Two large, dull gray batlike wings sprout from its shoulders. Its hands end in blackened claws.)

Reggie shudders as she receives guidance, then sets about helping Jozhur with the ballista.

Magana continues to circle the ship and pauses while under the stern to cast align weapon

Rillett cast guidance on Jozhur and makes sure he is near Terser, Reggie and Jozhur for when it is time to teleport.

Aex stays on the ship, although worried about Zeoll and Magana, she thinks the best course of action is to keep the wind up.

Meanwhile LStin entertains the children.

Jozhur continues to prep the ballista.

Rillett says that the toad demon is still there but invisible.

Zeoll runs to the side of the ship intending to use the sides of the ship as cover.

The 3 catapults on the ghost ship fire their payloads. 2 were armed with stone and a 3rd was loaded with alchemical fire barrels. One of the stone projectiles crashes into the pier eliminating a chunk of the docks. The alchemical fire barrel lands on the roof of a warehouse off the docks and a fire breaks out. The last stone shot slams into a boarding house that had thankfully been evacuated.

The skeletons continue to load one of the ballista that fired on the Squid's Beak and start to load the one that fired last round. The ballista that fired on the Magana is reaimed to target one of the ship's approaching.

The allied vessels continue to approach buoyed by the wind. All of the weaponry on the allied vessels are now prepped and ready to fire.

As the Squid's Beak and Profitable Venture get closer to the ghost ship new enemies emerge from under the waves. Victaaris is a grotesque creature looks like a gigantic toad with leathery wings, fangs, horns, and three bulbous eyes. He seems to be larger than you remember from last time and is just a little smaller than a ship (OOC:size gargantuan). He is joined by an equally large Giant Crab.

Victaaris lashes out with is tongue and snatches one of the sailors off the Squid's Beak's deck and swallows him whole.

The shipwrecker crab lashes out with a giant claw that smashes into the side of the Profitable Venture. The claw gains purchase on the ship and it is now grappled with the crab.

2 of the sailor skeletons look over the side and fire crossbow bolts at Zeoll, but neither hit the Liontaur.

Rillett: Highlight to display spoiler: {The terry demodand has moved to the ship's wheel.}

The 22 other sailor skeletons start readying the ghost ship to move.

Enemies:
Demodand : 16 damage; 10 foot aura of protection from good; invisible
Skeleton on Ballista crew 1 : 14 damage
26 other skeletons unharmed
Victaaris : unharmed

Rillett can see that Magana has reached the ship. That's what he was waiting for.

"Well boys and girls, it's show time! I can see that the invisible demon has moved to the ship's wheel. I'll place us near the stern of the vessel. The skeletons will be less injured by piercing and slashing weapons. Better ready a blunt weapon."

Rillett will wait until the group can ready their weapons, and then he will use Dimension Door to place us (Rillett, Terser, Jozhur, Reggie) aboard the glowing ghost ship. (Map edited to show us there)

Sunday March 6th, 2016 8:27:34 AM

Zeoll thinks that he is right in the middle of things, and that's not wise or safe. He circles the boat's hull, moving 70 ft, hopefully to AF26 or the far edge of AG26, trying his best to stay out of the reach of and as far away from Victaaris as possible. As he moves, he draws his bow.

Then he casts True Strike.

[Note that Zeoll has his shield on one arm and his bow in the other hand. True Strike is verbal only. He has to loose his shield before he can fire his bow.]

Magama airwalks around, up and over the stern of the ship to engage the catapult and ballista crews (to S27-T28) and picks a couple of skeletons standing next to each other to attack first. On getting a good look at the undead, their affront of their existence hits her fully and she goes into a rage with a battle cry on her lips. "IN GARGUL'S NAME!"

Jozhur shoots an arrow at Victaaris but the arrow fails to penetrate the giant beast's thick hide.

Rillett teleports his party onto the ship advising them to bring bludgeoning weapons.

Zeoll skirts around the enemy ship, casting true strike and avoiding Victaaris.

Reggie finds herself suddenly on the enemy ship in a flash of light slightly confused. She regains her bearings and tears into one of the skeletons crewing the ballista but her attack is stopped by its breastplate.

Magana airwalks around over the stern and engages the skeleton crews operating one of the catapults and the ballista. She cleaves into 2 of the siege engineers activating the catapult. The first skeleton is badly by the flail but not destroyed. The second skeleton is just destroyed outright as the force of the devotee of Gargul's flail knocks the skeleton apart. Fragments of bones and equipment go skittering across the deck.

Terser attacks the remaining unengaged catapult skeleton that Magana engaged with his cestus. His blow strikes true.

5 of the skeletons engage Magana they are wielding longswords. 2 of their blows are thrown of by the motion of the ship, but 3 of them find wholes in the Tauress's defenses. (hits vs AC 24, 20 and 24 for 8, 9 and 4 damage after DR)

3 of the skeletons engage Terser also drawing long swords. All 3 of the skeletons are unable to hit the nimble dwarf.

2 of the skeletons attack Reggie, drawing their long swords. 1 of them hits but Reggie's magically toughened skin absorbs 4 points of damage.

A single skeleton engages Jozhur but his sword is turned aside by Jozhur's armor.

The rest of the skeletons continue their tasks with respect to either the ship or the siege weapons.

The ghost ship moves forward and fires the 2 starboard ballista that are unmolested at the Squid's Beak sails. Both hit causing 2 more large gashes to open in the canvas. (30 damage to Squid's beak sail)

The squid's beak returns fire with their catapult aiming the middle catapult on the ghost ship. The boulder flies true dealing damage to both the middle catapult and the skeletons.

Victaaris attempts to use its crush ability on the crews manning some of the ballistas on the side. One of the sailors avoids the giant toad, but the other 3 and 2 of the ballista are damaged by its bulk, the sailors potentially killed.

Some of the sailors engage the giant beast, but no one manages to hit it.

The shipwrecker crab attempts to grapple the Profitable Venture continuing to dig into the ships hull with its massive claws.

The sailors on the Profitable venture fight back but no one can penetrate its thick carapace.

The Mako unloads it's Springal arrows on the ghost ship targetting the center of the ghost ship where the amidships catapult is and a large gathering of skeletons are. One of the springals aim is off and the arrows rain down into the ocean. The other arrows rain true and the skeletons on the middle catapult are destroyed and the sailors in the middle of the ship take damage.

The ships continue their movements...

Zeoll backs off (though he is still in square AF26) so that he is a good distance from Victaaris -- about 65-70 ft, say. As he backs off, he looses his shield and slings it on his back. From short range, he lets fly his Arrow of Evil Outsider slaying.

His attack has no range penalty. Divine Favor gives a +3 to hit. Heroism +2 to hit. Size -1 to hit. True Strike = +20. BAB +4, Dex +2, Enhancement +1. That's a net +31 to hit. Zeoll rolls a 42. If that hits, then the arrow itself inflicts (1d8+4) 11 damage AND if Victaaris is an evil outsider, he must make a DC 20 Fortitude save or take 50 points of damage.

(everyone please keep your HP's updated so Aex knows when she needs to heal someone!)

Aex is clueless how to get involved in this naval combat... she hasn't got the power to get up close and personal with those demons and her shipmates are all tangled up already... Her spells haven't been quite effective with those demons and she still doesn't know what affects them most. Fire won't do... lightning didn't do the trick either and she has no access to acid or cold... but she has! She can summon an Ice Storm over those enemy ships and the bludgeoning damage will probably do quite well against some of the skeleton crew though the cold won't hurt them much...

Anyhow it's worth a try...

Time to get to action. Aex shifts into an Air Elemental, veers up into the air (60ft fly speed) and heads towards the Ghost ship. Given the long range she'll be able to target the ship easily. Aex does try to avoid any of her friends when the storm comes... Great magical hailstones pound down upon the Ghost ship and its crew...

Zeoll lets fly with an arrow aimed at Victaaris, and it soundly connects with the brute. Victaaris is unaffected by the slaying effect but still takes damage.

Reggie strikes back at the skeleton that hit her with a vicious backhand.

Magana's flail is turned aside by her target's breast plate.

Jozhur nimbly avoids taking any attacks as he maneuvers around the skeleton to gain an advantage. His stab pieces the skeleton's defense, but it doesn't go in as far as it should. It is still enough to finish the skeleton off as it was the same one that Reggie backhanded.

Rillett points out where the demodand is. However, he isn't sure if the skeletons are being controlled or attacking from their own initiative. He then channels the righteous energy of his God against the skeletons.

Know[Religion] DC 20 : Highlight to display spoiler: { These skeletons are not your average skeletons. For one thing there is a glowing blue light in their eye sockets and for another they know how to use siege engines. If you had to guess you'd say they were skeleton champions. }

Terser follows suit with his own energy channeling.

In the wake of the channeling 3 of the skeletons are turned to dust. The remaining 7 in the vicinity are all visibly damaged by the power of light.

Aex takes to the skies as an air elemental and rains icy havok down on the ghost ship. All told 33 skeletons are affected by her hailstorm.

3 of the skeletons abandon one of the port ballista for the amidships catapult. 3 other skeletons abandon the other port ballista to attack Jozhur. 2 of the skeletons stab him with their swords. (23 vs AC, 6 dmg; 25 vs AC, 6 damage)

1 of the skeletons swings at Reggie and hits but the stone skin absorbs 4 more points of damage.

2 of the skeletons attack Terser. One of them strikes the Dwarf. (hit vs AC 26, 8 damage)

4 of the skeletons attack Magana and 2 of their blows land. The Tauress takes another 11 damage (OOC: after DR)

The starboard Ballista are reloaded and the 2 Catapults retarget the lionfish letting fly with 2 large builders. One of the stones crashes harmlessly into the sea but the other one strikes a vital part of the ship.

Victaaris attempts to crush more sailors and ballistas on the Squid's Beak. Two of the gunners avoid the creature's bulk, but 2 others aren't so fortunate, but they are still moving around.

The 4 siege gunners attack Victaaris and 2 of them manage to connect. Zarod Xug leaps to their defense and attacks but his hide cannot be penetrated by Zarod's Greataxe.

The giant crab continues to grapple the Profitable Venture.

The Lionfish returns fire at the ghost ship but Sarl's aim is thrown off by the movement of the vessel.

The Mako fires a broadside of ballista bolts at the Ghost Ship. 4 of the bolts are off target but the other 6 connect with the skeletons on deck amidships.

Working together the crew of the Profitable Venture manages to free their ship from the crab's grasp.

The ships continue to move propelled by the wind.

With a roar of anger at her last missed attack, Magana redoubles her efforts and attacks the same skeletons again.

Zeoll shrugs. He's no archer but what the heck!

The old liontaur turns invisible as a move action (domain power). That gives him a +2 to hit and the enemy loses his Dex bonus to AC. He fires an evil outsider bane arrow at Victaaris, making use of his Divine Favor while it lasts. No True Strike this time.

Divine Favor gives a +3 to hit. Heroism +2 to hit. Size -1 to hit. Invis = +2. BAB +4, Dex +2, Enhancement +3. That's a net +15 to hit. Zeoll rolls a 17 (nat 2).

That is surely a miss, even if the enemy has no dex bonus. Still, IF that hits, then the arrow itself inflicts (2d6+1d8+6) = 18 damage.

IF it does not hit, Zeoll uses a hero point to reroll the attack ... and hits AC22 ... with no dex ... maybe ...

Rillett can't quite determine what makes these skeletons so tough, but they are indeed tougher than normal created undead. (Perception 19 - fail.)

"It doesn't take much insight to see that these are not your average undead, but I'm not sure what they are. They're being very stubborn about dying. Well, about dying again. But it's that demon that's the real problem. He's still invisible, and still up near the ship's wheel."

Rillett will take a 5' step east (already moved on the map,) and will pull out a scroll of Invisibility Purge and read it.

Magana angered by her miss last round is invigorated to do better this round and succeeds, the massive damage from her disruption flail outright causing the weakened skeletons to fall apart.

Jozhur clicks the boots of his heels together before piercing 2 of the skeletons at their weak points to finish them off.

Zeoll turns invisible and puts forth a heroic effort to successfully find a gap in the giant toad creatures hide.

Reggie continues her onslaught against the skeletons amassed around her. She hits one, weakening it further, but misses the other.

Rillett takes a 5 foot step, retrieves a scroll of invisibility purge and reads it. A sphere of power with a radius of 50 feet extends from the Cleric as he finishes reciting the divine writings from the scroll.

Aex unloads a cannonade of lighting against the skeletons that still stand, hitting 6 and destroying 2 of the skeletons.

2 of the skeletons attack Reggie. One of the skeletons aim is impaired by slick conditions on the ship but the other skeleton finds a weak point in her defense. (Crit vs AC 27, confirmed with 28; 20 damage). Luckily for the monk she is still protected by stoneskin, but the spell absorbs 20 points of damage (1/5th of its capacity)

2 of the skeletons target Jozhur but he is able to avoid their stabs.

The 2 remaining skeleton manned starboard ballista return fire at the Mako, targetting it's sails. The 2 bolts rent holes in their canvas.

The skeletons manning the 2 catapults reload as the sailors continue to man the ship and the ghost ship lurches towards the Lionfish attempting to ram her. The ghost ship successfully rams the lionfish.

Victaaris continues to terrorize the Squid's Beak, catching another 3 siege gunners with his crush attack.

The giant crab swims after the Profitable Venture and lashes out with another massive claw. The claw finds a vulnerable spot in the ships hull and once again grabs onto the ship.

The 4 siege gunners and Zarrod attack back at Victaaris. Zarod is once again unable to hit the foul brute with his great axe but 2 of his men find openings.

The ships continue to move, the lionfish away from the ghost ship. The Mako and the Squid's beak are trying to surround it. Some of the sailors on the Profitable venture try to fight back against the giant crab, but their weapons fail to pierce its shell.

Seeing how well it worked, Terser takes a couple of steps forward and lets another wave of positive energy wash over the skeletons. The town and other ships will be much safer with no one manning the siege engines. He also hopes to clear the way for Rillett, so he can go expose the invisible pilot of the ship.

"The demon is at the ship's wheel." Then he looks around and sees a bunch of menacing skeletons looking at him there in the middle of everything. "Um, I may need some help up here..."

Aex lands by Rillett and buffs him with Barkskin. She then calls lighting down on a nearby skeleton turning it to dust.

The skeletons counter-attack. 3 skeletons attack Rillett but non of them manage to land a solid blow. The last skeleton comes close, but Rillett's toughened skin turns the blade.

Four of the skeletons swarm Magana and she gets an attack of opportunity on one of them. The flail lands knocking one of the skeletons down. 2 of the skeletons pierce Magana's flesh with their swords. (hit vs AC 25; 4 damage after DR; hit vs AC 22; 3 damage after DR). A lone skeleton drops its sword and takes its crossbow from its back, firing a bolt aimed at Magana that flies wide. 3 more skeletons in the bow also fire crossbow bolts that miss the Tauress. The demodand attacks Magana flying from the ship wheel at the tauress. (hit ff vs AC 37; 13 damage and 35 vs CMD of 29) He rakes her with his claw and holds tight, grappling her.

Some of the skeletons have abandoned the central catapult but the crew manning the 2 ballista reload.

Victaaris decides he is done terrorizing the Squid's Beak for the time being. He takes to the air towards the liontaur holding the bow, provoking AOOs from the sailors and Zarod. All four of the sailors miss the large beast, but Zarod's Axe finally connects. Victaaris's tongue shoots out (50 foot range) and Zeoll catches a bit of luck as it misses. (natural 1)

Both the Mako and Squid's beak turn towards the ghost ship and ram it. Both vessels strike true and

The giant crab continues tearing into the hull of the Profittable Venture but the crew of the ship are once again able to escape the crabs grasp after the damage is done.

The Lionfish turns and fires another bolt from the ballista courtesy of Sarl. This time it is aimed at Victaaris but the bolt misses the creature and flies into the drink.

Reggie charges one of the skeletons and continues her streak of being a one woman wrecking crew. The skeleton goes down courtesy of her blow to its skull face.

Jozhur points his sword at the demon wrestling with Magana encouraging his companions to attack it. He then dispatches another skeleton of his own.

Terser under the effects of his boots enhanced speed air walks forward landing on deck with with a quintessential superhero-esque landing culminating in the release of a wave of positive energy that significantly reduces the skeleton population.

Rillett moves up his path now clear by Rillett's channeling. Rillett adds his own positive energy to the mix noting that Reggie is doing well and holding her own.

Magana's one handed blows fail to strike the demodand.

Aex flies forward and casts cure serious wounds on the Tauress. She also fires a bolt of electricity at the Demodand but the outsider is completely unaffected (OOC: didn't beat SR)

Zeoll attempts to offer a suggestion to Victaaris and in Aquan convinces Victaaris to abandon the assault (OOC: at least for 9 hours). Victaaris heads beneath the waves.

The remaining skeletons manning the ballista and catapult fire off shots aimed at the deck of the Mako. Morenion and 3 of her crew are hit by the projectiles causing her crew to die outright. Morenion though picks herself up from the debris. Unfortunately for all involved this results in a collision between the Mako and the Squid's Beaks as the strong winds combine with the distraction of the Mako's captain being hit by giant projectiles leave the 2 ships unable to avoid each other as the ghost ship pops free and drifts out of their way, no longer being actively crewed by the demodand and the skeleton.

The demodand attempts to maintain the grapple and succeeds following up with a bite to the Tauress but the tarry creature ends up with a mouthful of air.

The giant crab moves forward towards the drifting ghost ship.

The profitable venture begins to turn in order to try to where the other ships are.

Jozhur puts forth a heroic effort in order to strike back at the demodand. He gets raked by its free hand as he maneuvers into position. (hit vs 32; 10 damage). Jozhur follows up with 3 strikes of his own. One hits, but the other 2 miss.

Jozhur needs to make a DC 19 reflex save or have his weapon be stuck to its tarry body.

Jozhur Perception : 25 Highlight to display spoiler: {The demodand seems unaffected by the cold}

Rillett moves towards Magana and casts Freedom of Movement on her. He then looks around the ship and realizes that 6 skeletons are still manning a catapult and a ballista. He also faintly hears invisible Zeoll shouting at the crab.

Magana newly free from the grapple responds by attacking the Demodand with her flail. Unfortunately for Magana her aim is off and both attacks miss.

Reggie too attempts to attack the Demodand but it is a cagey combatand and her blows fall short.

Zeoll attempts to ready his shield and provoke the giant crab. The crab doesn't seem to notice the invisible liontaur.

Aex pumps up Magana with bull's strength

The skeletons manning the catapult fire another shot of alchemical fire at bonetown. it hits one of the fire brigades causing some of Linus's men and civilians to catch fire.

The skeletons manning the ballista spread out and fire shots from their crossbows at Terser. One of the skeletons miss, but the other 2 skeletons have better aim. (hit vs 22 8 damage, hit vs 25 10 damage)

The demodand attacks back at Jozhur. He gets raked by another claw (hit vs 30; 8 damage; grapple CMD vs 42) and the demodand wraps its curved claws around him as Jozhur is now grappled.

The crab continues its advance towards the ghost ship.

The Mako and The Squid's Beak try to disentangle themselves.

The Lionfish and Profitable Venture start navigating closer to where the action is.

With the skeletons mostly dispatched, Terser steps in to try to hack down the Demodand with the rest of the crew. His aim is sadly lacking though, and neither blow comes even close to connecting. Luckily his stoneskin is still standing strong, flakes of rock chipping away instead of hunks of flesh.

"We need to stop those catapults from setting Bonetown on fire!"

Rillett moves through Magana, staying out of reach of the demodand. Then he reaches for Gargul's power, and just as the positive energy threatens to overwhelm him Rillett releases it, burning the remaining skeletons on the deck of the ship.

(Channel Energy for 22 damage to the skeletons, DC 17 will save for half.)

As he does so, he keeps an eye on the grappled Jozhur to make sure he's not in any serious trouble. "Jozhur, you OK?

Magana attacks twice as well but like Terser her flail misses.

Rillett attempts to do something about the pesky skeletons and their catapult, channeling Gargul's glory. 4 of the opposing skeletons are dusted. The three manning the catapult and one of the crossbow skulls.

Jozhur attacks the demodand with his sword.and manages to plunge it into the demodand once.

Zeoll finishes his summons and is delighted to see that he has called from the Wold's Cradle a ... [rolling a d10] ... [gets a 4] ... a giant gar! Perhaps the best choice possible! Zeoll summons it at a range of 45 ft away, and then it charges up to 120 ft more to attack the giant crab! It attacks at +2 on a charge ... and rolls a 28 to hit! That inflicts 2d6+15 damage, or 20 damage to the crab, and the gar's grab attack gives it a free grapple check. Its CMB is +21 to grapple, +23 with the charge, and it beats a CMD up to 39!

So if the giant crab is AC28 or less, it is bit for 20 damage, and if its CMD is 39 or less, it is also grappled.

As for Zeoll, he loves his new fey friend, and takes a full round run action to stay right up behind Senor Gar. Next round the old liontaur will be in position to cure his new friend or buff him in the unlikely event that he is unwounded.

Zeoll also takes a brief moment to look around the battlefield: Perception 44. Considering that he is personally responsible for tackling the two largest foes in the battle, he tries to get an idea of what his friends are doing. Maybe watching in amazement? Because Zeoll is sure putting on a good show!

Edit: After looking around, Zeoll realizes that the giant crab is actually attacking the Ghost Ship?! What the heck? It is attacking the enemy ship? Why would the crab (a foe) attack that ship (also a foe)? Has Aexana charmed it somehow? Why was it attacking its own ally? Zeoll is confused, but it is too late to reconsider. Senor Gar has already attacked the crab. Well, so be it. If there is blame to go around, well, oh well -- it won't be the first time the old liontaur has kicked the puck into the other side's net.

Zeoll finishes his summons and from the Wold's Cradle ends up calling a giant gar. The Gar attempts to charge the giant grab but even with the momentum from the charge the fish creature cannot penetrate the crab's thick shell. The liontaur then looks around the battlefield and is treated to the fact that The Mako and Squid's Beak are entangled with each other and the Lionfish and Profitable Venture are still a short ways away from contributing. Additionally the rest of his friends all seemed to be gathered around a sticky demodand who is grappling with Jozhur and of the complement of skeletons only 2 seem to still be up and about on the ship.

For his part Jozhur manages to stick the demodand once himself without getting his sword stuck.

Terser and Magana have less luck and their attacks fail to land on the sticky demodand.

Rillett seems to believe in the law of equivalent change or at least making up for lost time and since Zeoll has summoned numerous things from the Wold's cradle, maybe it is time that Rillett returned the favor. Rillett has no trouble touching the giant crab and the mindless creature fails to will itself to remain in place. Will the fey in the Wold's cradle appreciate having a giant crab suddenly show up at their doorstep? Who knows, hopefully your resident Cradled will be able to smooth things over with them should any of the fae court take offense to the uninvited crustacean guest.

Aex fires off some lightning in both the ball and bolt variety at it on its way out.

The 2 skeletons fire crossbow bolts at Terser. One hits. (25 vs AC; 7 damage)

The demodand continues to grapple Jozhur (34 vs CMD) and bites him once again. (13 damage).

The Mako and Squid's Beak are still tangled.

The Lionfish and Profitable Venture keep advancing.

Thursday March 17th, 2016 1:50:07 AM

Rillett climbs back aboard the ship, and then moves over near the skeletons.

He sees Jozhur, "Hang in there Jozhur, we won't let you die. Not today anyway."

To the deomodand, "Hey slimy, you've lost this fight so just let my friend there go. If you happen to see your stupid god, let him know not to mess with us or with Bonetown again."

(Rillett has Tongues going, so he should be understood by the creature.)

[DM Hugh] - Mop up..
Thursday March 17th, 2016 2:02:49 PM

Jozhur continues his assault on the sticky creature grappling him, calling to his friends for help.

Rillett climbs back on board and reassures Jozhur. He then asks the demodand to let Jozhur go and to tell Billoopl that the God shouldn't mess with Bonetown.

The demodand replies, "I will let him go unharmed if you grant me passage and give me the map."

Reggie flies into a rage, seeing Jozhur being treated thusly by the demodand. Her third hit lands true.

Terser attacks and manages to hit the demodand but unfortunately his glaive gets stuck and he starts cursing.

Zeoll and senior Gar look around for more baddies and don't see anyone. The liontaur asks his friends when they are going to be done playing with the demodand.

Magana puts an end to this question as she clobbers the outsider, crushing its skull, which outright kills the demodand.

Aex finishes off the remaining skeletons with her lightning balls and bolts. (OOC: hope you don't mind as those rolls are enough to wipe out the last 2 skeletons.)

Aside from Zeoll with his Gar friend on the seas, you are all alone on the decks of the ghost ship. There are bone fragments, bone dusts, weapons and armor scattered on deck.

Perception 22: Highlight to display spoiler: {A silver compass looking object appears to be lashed to the main mast.}

The Profitable Venture and Lionfish reach where you are and the Mako and Squid's beak finally manage to get unstuck.

On the shore the fire teams lead by Linus's men still appear to be fighting the fires that have broken out from the alchemical fire barrels. The whole of Bonetwon is not on fire and the blazes seem to be contained to a few buildings but Linus's men and the civilians seem to be having a time putting them out once and for all

The ghost ship needs at least a crew of 20 to function optimally but the 7 of you could probably limp it into port if you had to, though you might be able to convince the Lionfish, Mako, Squid's Beak and / or Profitable Ventureto loan you some sailors for a prize crew...

Rillett will reply to the now dead demodand, "No, we do not agree to your terms.

"Nice work Magana and everyone. Zeoll, thanks for taking that big frog guy out. Should we expect him back soon?"

He will then step over to Jozhur, and heal him. (CSW for 16 points.) "I would prefer to hold off on channeled energy healing until we can group it to cover the other injured crews as well.

"But first, let's secure this ship before the other crews board her. I don't trust all of those other captains and crew. Who want's to get that compass? Any volunteers to go below decks to see that things are secure as assess what's there? I advise checking for traps and detecting magic. We don't want to trigger anything that will cause her to sink."

Zeoll climbs on board and asks Aexana to use this scroll of Speak with Animal to ask Senor Gar to scout around under the waves to see if any creatures or unusual things are there.

He says the big demon could come back in nine hours but doubts he will. "We've defeated him like, what? two, thrree times? I doubt he would be so foolish as to rreturrn without his otherr demon frriend and his skellies."

Zeoll takes a fragment of the dead demon to use as a spell component when they face Biloopl.

Zeoll casts Detect Magic and looks around the ship, starting with the remains of the dead foes.

Perception 38, 39 with heroism and elf vision.

He quickly sees the silver compass. "Ah! Herre is what we seek! This will lead us to ourr foe!"

Nonetheless, Zeoll gives the ship a good going over, top to bottom.

He is in favor of sailing it back to the port, however, he suggests to his friends that they should sail this ship, not the Lionfish, to Biloopl's lair. And maybe with some disguises as skeletons. That way we can sneak right in to the heart of things. "Maybe even two of us could be disguised as the two demons!" Zeoll suggests.

Magana the Tauress (Craig) [HP 88 of 112] [DR 1/-]
Thursday March 17th, 2016 4:37:25 PM

Magana's rage continues, and she repeatedly smashes the demodand carcass, purposefully reducing it a bloody, tarry paste that will need to be scraped from the deck. Once her endurance is exhausted, the rage subsides and she spends the next few minutes lying flat on her back on the deck, recovering her breath and energy, all while with a stupid, pleased grin on her face.

"Glorious!" she whispers.

Jozhur watches in amazement as Magana smashes the demodand to a pulp, "I don't think it's getting back up now, Aex."

He volunteers to go below deck and check things out. The rogue combs through the ship slowly, carefully checking for traps, valuables, and clues.

Argh, site ate my post. Will have to reproduce it later.

Rillett (Bradley) HP 87/87 - AC 29/15/27 CMD 20
Friday March 18th, 2016 10:30:35 PM

Rillett is a bit puzzled about what a site is, why the dwarf was carrying a post, and what that all has to do with dwarven reproduction.

Rillett will accompany Jozhur below deck, and cast detect magic as they go.

[DM Hugh] - Aftermath..
Saturday March 19th, 2016 10:50:17 AM

Rillett tells the demodand that he does not agree to the terms. He then congratulates everyone, heals Jozhur, and says that the groups should start securing the ship.

Aex asks if the frog guy healed himself last time. (OOC: The giant frog thing had fast healing, but the frog demodand (medium sized thing Magana killed) did not)

Zeoll climbs on board the ship and asks Aex to speak to senior Gar and get him to scout for anything dangerous beneath the waves. He takes a piece of the dead demodand, picks up the compass and gives the ship a once over, suggesting they use the ghost ship for the mission instead of Lionfish.

Magana keeps raging repeated pounding the demodand's corpse into the floor of the deck. When her rage finally subsides, she lays down on the deck to recover, whispering "Glorious."

Jozhur watches as Magana beats the demodand into a pulp before heading below to check the rest of the ship

Reggie's rage also ends and she joins the tauress on the deck of the ship. Eventually she sits up.

Terser complains about his post being eaten by a site and how it has something to do with Dwarven reproduction and Rillett is confused by this.

In what is left of the demodand, Zeoll finds a surprisingly intact headband woven from rope adorned with various sailing knots. It radiates a moderate transmutation aura.

Spellcraft : 23 Highlight to display spoiler: {You recognize this item as a headband of nautical lore. This reskinned headband of vast intelligence +6 has skill ranks in profession[sailior], craft[ships] and swim. Everything you wold need to turn a lubber into an instant sailor, just add water}

From the remains of the skeletons you find 47 breastplates, mwk longswords and mwk crossbows and 47 cold iron daggers as well as many bolt cases full of varying amounts of crossbow bolts.

Jozhur and Zeoll do not find any traps below decks nor anything particularly dangerous. The ship is surprisingly spartan with no brick-a-brac in what would normally be the crew quarters. The captain's cabin is also relatively sparse except it does have a sticky bed and a table with some charts of Bonetown and the surrounding water spread before it.

There are a number of alchemical fire barrels, boulders and crossbow bolts organized in orderly arrangement for fast retrieval and the alchemical fire barrels look to be stored correctly so as to prevent accidental fires.

You eventually come to the cargo hold which has a large store of antique looking heavily locked chests. The locks look to be very well made and you remember finding bits of metal that could have once been a key ring in with its gooey remains but there is no way the keys would work now. Perhaps the locked chests are a boon as with how strong those locks appear to be the other pirates won't be getting into them easily either.

Jozhur Highlight to display spoiler: {You think you could probably unlock the locks but it would most likely take you several minutes work on each one }

Some of the chests have auras of there own, but exploring the ship has taken time and while you were doing that the rest of the crews have been busy on there own. Those below here several large thuds on deck and you return up top to see sailors swinging over from grapples on the other ship.

Morenion grins and says, "I believe you said something about the Captain's Council deciding the disposition of plunder. We came through for the town, spilt our blood, damaged our ships and deserve to be compensated for this. We formally ask that nothing further be disturbed until we can parley with the Captain Council and get their ruling on the disposition."

Magana the Tauress (Craig) [HP 88 of 112] [DR 1/-]
Saturday March 19th, 2016 1:58:14 PM

Having little interest in plunder, Magana stays on deck, kneeling, and spends an extended period of time in prayer to Gargul, expressing her gratitude for His guidance and protecting hand in this most recent battle with the undead abominations.

(Brock) Jozhur AC23/ Touch 16/Flat 17--CMD 24--HP63/88
Saturday March 19th, 2016 7:33:49 PM

Upon finding the chests Jozhur whispers to Zeoll, "I would like to see that this does not get into elf-blood hands. Maybe I can do something about these chests later."

Back on deck, Jozhur reassures Morenion, "Right, we will let the Captains Council decide on the disposition of the ship and its contents."[/b]

When the ghost ship is brought into port, Jozhur will see that it is guarded by some neutral party, or propose that a member of each involved party guards the ship until an agreement is reached.

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC25 HP 59 of 59)

Zeoll whispers back to Jozhur ... "Was that an Elfblood ship that helped in the fight? Then we should give them theirr fairr sharre of the loot. We have to be fairr to lead, if only by example, herre in Bonetown."

(woops forgot to post - sorry)

Aex returs to her Gnome shape and joins her friends on deck. She'll patch up anyone who needs it with some of her potions available.

"Guess this was just the ante of the big finale... we still have Billoopl to find... "

The Gnome wonders how her companion LStin's doing in the harbour. She knows he doesn't cope too well with fire. How are the kids?
