The salad days

DM RobC - "... that, or a shepherd with no flock may go off in search of one."
Monday April 4th, 2016 7:15:43 AM

The discussion about construction is ongoing.

The Counsellor nods along to the groups discussion, only interjecting occasionally.

"You are correct, sir" he says to Armand "In keeping with the neutrality that the Tree represents, we would prefer that the building be either in an adjacent tree, or, at ground level a suitable distance away. We don't want it to appear that the Emerald Kingdom is asserting any claim to the Tree"

"As for timeframes, well, that will all depend on your desired plans. Eryn will take detailed notes for me, and I will see that construction begins as soon as possible"

The Counsellor stays for a little while longer to listen to the groups tales, but eventually the time comes that he must excuse himself. "Until tomorrow, my friends. It should be a memorable feast. In the mean time, should you require anything please feel free to talk to Eryn or Joane. Eryn, be sure to keep a record of the food and drink ordered tonight. I want everything accounted for when we get back" and with that, he retires for the evening.

The party are free to continue the discussions amongst themselves, or, retire for the evening in anticipation of tomorrow's celebration

OOC:
Leskni asked if there would be some downtime between modules. The short answer is - absolutely! The long answer is that your DMs haven't exactly finalised how much time that will be. That also goes for finding additional witches. If none come via the Tree, Leskni would be free to travel to the Emerald Kingdom, find some witches, perform her rituals, and be back in time for ... something :)

Completed PC sheets: Leskni, Armand, Owen

I wander about, and just enjoy the down-time.

OOC: Almost done with my level 5 updates. Just need to make the final touches on Page 1 for my attack info.

Armand (Robert D) AC 16/touch11/flat15 HP 41/41 CMD 16 Character Sheet  d20+5=19 ;

Armand will eventually excuse himself and go to bed. The next day he will pray and prepare Remove Cursex2.

Finding Atlas in the morning Armand will cast remove curse. Attempt to overcome 19 (d20+5). "How do you feel now Atlas?"

OOC is anyone else still cursed?

Armand will work with Eryn and the rest of the group to coordinate some building ideas. He tries to stay low key and out of the way as the big feast is tonight.

Atlas enjoys the evening and retires after telling their story to those that stuck around.

In the morning he finds Armand and thanks him profusely for removing his curse. He feels wonderful and he isn't shy about saying so.

Atlas heads to the Catacombs. He walks slow, knowing that it will take him a while to count his money and figure out what he wants.

ooc: Didn't get to my character or the catacombs this weekend...will be trying some night this week. Such a pain not having access at work :-/

Leskni (Paul Jackson) AC: 15/14/11; HP 35/35; CMD: 16 Character Sheet

Leskni just relaxes for the day, waiting that evenings celebrations. As noted a few days ago, she practices flying with Pella and her broom away from any onlookers.

'Osul - Level 5 (Graham) AC:11 (T:11, FF:10), CMD:15, HP:32/32
Monday April 4th, 2016 6:18:33 PM

With the new morning, 'Osul heads out on the plain for his communing.

Then he sets a target on the ground near the top of the slight valley previously determined and accepted as the site for the new trees, shifts into his eagle form, and practices making water bombing runs - 10 gallons at a time, until he thinks he has a handle on it, and then a few times more for good measure.

He leaves Leskni to her own devices, and eventually returns for breakfast.

When I get a chance, I make some attempts at Atlas's impenetrable chest.... nope, not quite there yet. ;)

I spend some time going on nice, quiet walks in the surround area. I also check in with Moana, and see if she'd like any help or company going out and getting any herbs or such that she needs for her shop.

OOC: Character sheet and Post Name header updated. I should be all set. Please let me know if you see any problems. Thanks! :)

The Tree of parting is massive on a scale that is hard to comprehend.
In deep forests the trees grow tall in a fight for the life giving sun, while trees all alone grow wide to capture as much of the suns bounty as possible.
The Tree of Parting dwarfs them all. Over 500ft tall at the branches where the uppermost dwellers make their home, another 200 ft above that, only eagle and squirrels dare to tread.
It's branches spread over a 1/4 mile diameter from tip to tip.
The trunk it'self is well over 300 ft thick. The tree is magical, and as such storms barely make the branches shake.
Mid way through spring it's boughs bloom with fragrant flowers, which look to come from many different species of plant.
In fall it drops fruit and seeds from trees far different than it.
When the question comes up of what the Tree wants, the branches rattle and a periwinkle floats down from somewhere above and lands between Carver and Counsellor Coni.
The moment is pregnant with the feeling of something.....but then its gone.
the Periwinkle is symbolic...but symbolic of what? Make a Knowledge Check vs Nature, History or Religion DC 15...or do a little research and post what you find to the board.

"Hmm, a periwinkle, from the tree. I'd say that's a good sign."

knowledge religion 23 (d20+5), knowledge history 27 (d20+7)

"Let's see I recall...Periwinkles used to be put close to all those things that it was desirable to have lasting as long as possible, for example, newborns and candles. Periwinkles at the side of the newborn baby would thus help ensure the baby’s long life, and periwinkles arranged around candles lit at the wedding would help keep the love of the newlyweds 'evergreen.' Armands cheeks blush as this, but he continues, "Some cultures hold the periwinkle as a symbol of sincere friendship. And lastly, like many five petaled flowers it can be linked to the pentagram and used as a talisman for protection."

Knowledge (History): 32!

The periwinkle's genus, Vinca, comes from an old word meaning "to bind"--especially in unity or friendship. Armand is right to read this sign as a good one.

The day of the feast Owen practices flying again, then studies his scroll of Major Image. He successfully understands it, and spends three hours and 90 gold adding it to his spellbook.

Carver (John C) AC 16, AC 18 with shield, CMB 6, CMD 17, HP 48/48 Speed 65 Character Sheet  d20+2=4 ; d20+2=10 ; d20+6=17 ;

Carver thinks about the flower as it lands between them. (kn:nature 4 : kn:history 10: kn:religion 17)
"I'd say this is a very good portent and we have our answer. The tree seems satisfied that we should remain in it's vicinity. A moderate sized building with a room for each of us and a communal room where we can all gather for meetings or relaxation and to eat would be perfect. Outside we can set up our own training area with a small grove of trees and shrubs for those so inclined.
I really don't think we need much more than that."

"That's beautiful! Does it come in red?"

My thoughts drift back to when we first approached the Tree, and I have the urge once again to attempt to climb to the very top.

'Osul considers the periwinkle {Know. Nature: 24}

He has little to add to the designs of the new villa - they are shaping up much as he would like.

Leskni (Paul Jackson) AC: 15/14/11; HP 35/35; CMD: 16 Character Sheet

Leskni is impressed by the blossoms and wants to see if she can perhaps communicate more closely with the tree. She casts speak with plants on the tree and then addresses it respectfully

"Greetings, great and noble one. My name is Leskni, I am of the Liontaur people and am a follower of Aleni. I was wondering if perhaps you would honour me by talking to me."

Atlas sends a mental note to the group from the Catacombs, "We need rooms for guests."
