The group slowly makes their way through the water starting to get used to the strange new environment. As you reach the “castle,” you can see the rocks are very old and very worn. Perhaps at some time long ago, this was indeed a mighty castle, but you cannot be sure if it was just created a few days from old, worn rocks and boulders. The sand gives way only slightly beneath your feet as the group walks around the rocks and walls, across the small “moat.” It almost seems more quiet as the group steps up to the cave entrance. There is even less light inside the cave as the group pauses, making sure everyone is caught up and together. A few small bubbles slurp up the side of the wall near the cave entrance, but no other signs of life or movement appear, and no one, not even the eagle-eyed Zeoll can spot anything inside the darkness of the cave. The entrance is wide at the start, but very quickly squeezes down to a more normal-sized width, wide enough for two people to walk abreast…
OOC: Everyone gets 12,000 xp for the trip, the map, the storm, and surviving the storm!

DM Jeff - Into the Depths Tuesday April 26th, 2016 9:07:48 AM
As the group moves through the water, Rillett asks about the stonework, casts a spell, and suggests a marching order for entering the underwater cavern. He peers into the dark portal. He sees nothing moving. With the light the group has shining into the darkness, he can see that there is a short hallway that appears to open up into a larger area after just a dozen steps or so.
Aexana also prepares with another spell and asks Zeoll for more protection. Zeoll casts a spell and steps towards the front of the group, ready to enter the mysterious cavern. He peeks into the cavern and sees the same things Rillett does – that the short hallway opens into a larger space in a short distance. It appears to him that the entrance hallway does slope down just a slight bit as well, leading down into the sea floor just a little.
Terser checks out the stonework and decides that the stones are not natural, but they are clearly very worn. It looks to him as if someone or something carved these and then they have been worn down over a very long period of time. Jozhur and Reggie stay together and Jozhur offers a potion to Reggie as he pulls out his glowing coin.
Magana then pushes her way to the front, blocking the vision of Rillett and Zeoll. She looks into the hallway as well and sees nothing additional to alert the others about.

DM Jeff - Into the Depths Wednesday April 27th, 2016 10:48:17 AM
The group heads into the underground castle, slowing making their way into the hallway. The castle does seem strange with almost natural cave walls and a floor of sand. The strangeness of walking through water has not worn off yet, either. The hallway opens up into a large cave-like room. It is roughly square and the dim light penetrates the murky water to reveal a room about sixty feet square. The ceiling is domed and nearly forty feet tall in the center, sloping towards the sides. At the sides of the room there is a shallow trench all the way around the room except in the doorways, similar to the “moat” outside the castle. There is another hallway; much like the one the group has entered through in the far wall, opposite where the group has entered the room.
Magana leads the way into the room. As she steps into the room, she gets a glimpse of a figure on the far side of the room. It is a figure that appears to be hovering just above the ground without swimming. It is a humanoid figure wrapped in a cloak that covers its head as well. As soon as Magana spots the figure, it makes a gesture (Spellcraft DC 16: Highlight to display spoiler: {casting fog cloud}) and suddenly the murkiness of the water gets even thicker and the figure disappears into the murk that the light sources do not appear to be able to penetrate. This thickness of the water starts spreading into the room, quickly obscuring the far half of the room. The thickness quickly dissipates as it appears, but the water still plays with your vision with lines and curves appearing, making it hard to see clearly all the way across the room.
Terser watches carefully to the rear, but sees absolutely nothing moving or any signs of life.
Reggie looks on at the event as it unfolds. "By Domi what do you think that is? " she asks of nobody in particular.
She closes her eyes for a second hoping the murkiness will somehow clear, "Ok Reginald, This is new, guide me." she whispers.
There is s light swirl of water and sand around Reggie for a moment then it is gone.
Looking to her captain, Jozhur, "should I attack it?"

Most of the group pauses, watching the strange cloaked figure. Reggie casts divine favor while checking if it is okay to attack. Jozhur calls out, trying to stay safe in the new, strange underwater environment. He cannot tell for sure with the hood up, but the creature certainly could be the one that the group faced before.
Aexana tries to make wind, and it appears there is a current pushing the water, but it is not as strong as she might have expected, because the water has to pull from somewhere and that slows it down a bit. Zeoll advances carefully and looks around the room. As he looks around, he sees there are four other dark figures rising from the pits along the side of the room. As they rise, they crackle with blue energy. They are roughly humanoid in shape, but their bodies appear to be a mass of thick, writhing eels sliding and moving around one another. They continue to rise out of the trenches to a full height of seven feet of massive, squirming eel. Each one of them shoots a blast of small eel towards the party! Eels shoot through the water at Rillett, Aexana, Jozhur, and Reggie! One of the bolts strikes Rillett where it explodes in a tiny spark while slicing into him (8 damage + 1 electrical damage). Another slices through the water to strike at Aexana, while a third slams into Jozhur (8 damage plus 4 electrical damage). A final slithering eel hits Reggie with another small spark explosion (5 damage plus 3 electrical damage). The bodies of the eels that were shot fall apart and into bones after they hit their target, but the massive slithering bodies seem to be none the worse for the loss of a single eel.
As Zeoll notices the eel creatures, Magana rushes forward to the humanoid creature, the flail swinging normally through the water, but wide of the creature. The murky water dissipates as she approaches. The creature is prepared and waiting and strikes out with an arm that is tipped with a long, dark claw. The claw slashes into Magana and blood flows into the water (11 damage).

"Careful. That creature before Magana is bad. It damaged her, both physically and diminished her bovine beauty." If she fails her save, Rillett will also let folks know that it affected her memory and caused her to be confused.
Then Rillett steps forward into the middle of the room, laments the fact the he did not take Prayer today, and casts Bless where it will affect everyone. (+1 Morale Bonus on attack rolls and saves vs. fear.) As he moves, he also pulls a wand out of his pocket.

"OUCH!" says Aexana as she takes 12 damage.
Aexana thinks that these eel things are an excellent target for herself and Leafy.
She tries a fast dismount, as a free action. That's a DC20 Ride check, and she is riding bareback, so her usual +8 is reduced to +3. She rolls a 5, so the dismount is a move action for her.
With her remaining standard action, she casts Bull's Strength on Leafy. Then she says to her plant companion, "Go get 'em, boy!" as she directs Leafy at EelBall #1.
Leafy is unaffected by Bless, because Plants are immune to mental effects. Oh well. Leafy charges, and her usual +6 to attack is boosted by +2 extra strength and +2 charging. Her slam attack, at +10, hits AC25. Since an EelBall is AC23, that's a hit! The EelBall takes 1d8+4 damage, or 8 damage, and it has to make a fort save vs DC14 for 1d2 (1) Dex damage from thorn venom. [Since there is no d2 button, I'm rolling a d12, 1-6=1; 7-12=2).
In addition, Leafy has the Grab ability, so it gets a free grapple check. The grapple is at +13 with the charge, so that's a 16. If the EelBall has a CMD less than 16, then it is grappled, takes an extra 9 damage, and has to make another DC14 save vs thorns.

The group reacts quickly and efficiently to the sudden but expected attack with everyone going into attack mode. Rillett enures Reggie can move easily through the water. He steps up to bless everyone and looks around at the assembled enemies. He can tell that none of them are actually undead, especially the eel blobs. They are eels. Definitely eels. Lots of eels.
Terser checks out the deadly, sparking, pointy eels that are attacking them and ponders how they would taste. He’s pretty sure that he won’t be getting a fire going any time soon, so he’s going to have to sample them raw if he is really interested in a snack. He ignores the eels and instead approaches the hooded figure. He stays back, out of reach of the creature, and swings his massive weapon doing an incredible amount of damage to the creature. It bends in two as the weapon slams into it, but it quickly straightens up, the weapon not doing as much damage as it should have (immune to critical hits, sorry!). It does not appear to be injured, but since it is such a strange creature, you’re not sure how you would know it was injured.
Jozhur also quickly moves up to the creature to one side. He doesn’t quite have a flanking position yet, but he can work his way around behind it next round. He slices through the air at the creature with a perfectly aimed shot, but for some reason the sword meets no resistance and simply slices through the water without striking the creature at all (there was a 20% miss chance and I rolled poorly)! The creature turns to Jozhur and the hood slips a little, revealing a dark nose-less face filled with needle-like fangs and sunken black eye sockets that glow with two wicked points of light.
Meanwhile, Aexana jumps off her plant, charges it up, and directs it to attack eel blob #1. The plant makes a successful attack on the eels, but the leaves and vines slip around and through the eels, the individual eels easily avoiding the leaves. The blob quickly slides around and through the leaves of Leafy and starts ripping branches and vines apart. There is a blast of electrical sparking and the vines and all of Leafy turns bright, even underwater, but the electricity heads to the sand (6 physical damage after DR, 0 electrical damage, add some con!).
Zeoll stands back and reads the scroll of protection from evil. It takes him a minute to see the words on the scroll with the water flowing all around, but he manages to get the spell off and can immediately feel the protection going into effect against all the creatures here. He cannot see a way that peaceball or protection from evil will have any effect against the strange creature or its confusion. He is pretty sure it will take something more like a dispel or break enchantment. When he yells out, he can perceive that the cloaked figure reacted to his words, but the eels, well, they are just eels…
Magana isn’t sure why she is here, but she knows an enemy when she sees one and she strikes at the odd creature, her horns connecting for what should be damage, but it appears they did no damage at all (DR)!
The cloaked, floating thing turns to the one who did damage to it, Terser, and notices that he appears to far away. This does not bother the creature and a very long claw reaches out from the cloak to attack Terser! The claw slices back and forth and draws blood (2 hits for 11 damage; 10 charisma damage; Will save, DC 20 or forget everything that has happened for the last 5 hours. If the save is successful, you are affected by confusion for the next 6 hours! First roll for confusion (for next round): 62: “Deal 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand.”)
The other three eel blobs decide to send additional arrow-eels and remain where they are. Eels strike Rillett (9 physical damage plus 1 electrical damage), Reggie (7 physical damage, 5 electrical damage), and Zeoll (9 physical damage, 2 electrical damage).

He sees Terser smack himself in the face for some reason.
Reggie explodes into action, eyes flashing, as she charges one of the blobs of eels. Not slowed by the water, she attacks and punches at the blob. She makes contact a few times, but the eels swarm and twist out of the way of some of the blows. She can tell that her attacks are not as effective as they should be (DR).
Rillett is rightfully worried as the group tries to battle what appears to only be the welcoming committee. He realizes that they are trying to enter the lair of a demi-god of some kind, so it would be rather strange if there were not protections in place. As he restores some energy to Magana, he wonders how it will be battling Billoopl if these are just his guardians. Meanwhile, Magana realizes the group could really be in trouble here and goes all-out to try and destroy this cloaked figure. The flail flies easily through the water and hits her target. This time the attacks appear to strike home, damaging the creature. Bits of bone and gore fly off the beast and float away into the water.
The cloaked figure appears in distress and it starts to back up, but realizes that it is surrounded. As it moves, it reaches out again towards its tormentor, Magana, the claws easily finding purchase and slicing into her (5 damage, 2 charisma damage. The eel blob continues assaulting Leafy and easily makes contact with the vines and leaves. An eel head appears and bites through a leaf (9 physical damage). Other eels swarm and slam into the plant, but mostly bounce off the strong stem (12 physical damage, after DR, just 2). Electrical energy pulses and flashes, but it only appears to make Leafy stronger. The other eel blob engaged with Reggie swarms all around her. She feels slices from the edges of the eels, bites from others, and bruises from yet more slamming into her (25 physical damage). As they move around her, there are also flashes of electrical lightning, zapping her repeatedly (16 electrical damage).
The two eel blobs not engaged continue to sit back at the edge of the trench shooting eels. Rillett is hit by yet another eel (8 physical damage, 1 electrical damage) and so is Aexana (5 physical damage, 3 electrical damage).

This Round ...
Zeoll finds that a (rolling d10 = 2) Genie has answered his call for help! Per the swim skill rules, he can hold his breath for 14 rounds. The spell lasts for 20 rounds. Since his alignment is just one step away from Zeoll's he will try to be helpful, as requested.
Zeoll says to the genie, "Help us fight these eels, please!"
The genie uses his persistent image (Will DC 17) ability to create the illusion of a shark attacking an eel horde. Hopefully the eels will be distracted and try to fight the shark instead of heroes. The genie programs the illusion to keep on attacking, so that next round he can do something else.

Leafy continues to battle the eel swarm, but find they are simply too slippery and wiggly to make contact with them. As Aexana quaffs a healing potion, the eel blob continues to swarm around and attack Leafy (Damage: 7 + 9-5 + 5-5 = 11 plus electrical).
Zeoll brings out a genie and quickly directs it to the eels. The genie creates the image of a shark, but the eel swarm ignores the image (made will save) and instead shoot an eel at the genie (hits, 9 physical damage, 3 electrical damage). Meanwhile, Zeoll tries to suggest that the humanoid surrender, but the creature completely ignores him (there’s the natural 20).
Jozhur finally makes solid contact into the back of the creature. The creature’s head flies back and its horrid mouth opens in a silent cry! Rillett is distracted by noticing that the creature is in a fragile state, but that quickly changes as Terser, though confused, continues his own assault on the creature, knocking it to the ground. Magana looks at the fallen creatures and just babbles as if speaking about dinner with it in a strange language that no one knows.
Rillett moves over to Reggie and casts resist energy just in time as the eel swarm slams into her again, slicing, biting, and sparking electricity all around her, this time, the eels appear to miss more often than they hit and the sparks are deflected thanks to the magical protection (9 physical damage, 4-20=0 electrical damage).
The remaining eel blob sees Rillett move and shoots an eel dart at him. He feels the pain slam into his back and blue sparks burn and sputter (7 physical damage, 6 electrical damage).

The old liontaur readies an action: After Magana and Terser attack, but before the eels counterattack, Zeoll casts Calm Emotions on Terser, Magana, and the two eels they are fighting.
(It is possible that others will be affected, but without a map, hard to say. Zeoll will do his best to not affect other friends.)
Hopefully Terser and Magana will choose to fail their saves, so that they will be calmed, and so that their confusion will end. If the two eels are calmed too, great. If an eel is not calmed, it will attack, breaking the Calm for all targets. But with luck the confusion will be over (not just suppressed -- the spell seems to indicate it ENDS confusion?)

All are healed for 19 hit points.

He yells out to Terser and Magana and prepares a spell. Terser runs over to one of the massive eel blobs and attempts to slice into it. He feels his blade strike, slicing and chopping through the bodies of the swarming eels. He then feels the calming flow of Zeoll’s spell and the confusion is removed from him! Magana follows suit, running through the water to the same huge pile of swirling eels and attempts to slam them. His weapon hits some of the eels, but others slide out of the way. The blast of energy, however, resonates through the entire blob! He also feels the calming power of Zeoll’s spell as the fog of confusion is lifted. The blob turns on Terser and he feels the slams of the bodies of the eels hitting him and the occasional set of teeth slashing him (20 physical damage). As they slide around him, bright blue flashes of electricity spark and burn him (23 electrical damage).
Meanwhile, Aexana and Leafy continue their fruitless assault on one of the blob. The blob continues to slam and buffet Leafy about, and the boughs of the plant buffet and move, absorbing some of the damage, but one of the eels manages to take a bite out of one of the leaves (physical damage: 5-5 + 8-5 + 4 = 7 damage plus electrical).
Reggie, on the other hand, continues her assault on her eel blob, obviously to everyone and everything else. She finds the eel swarm hard to hit as they writhe and move, but she does make contact and feels some bones crack and break here and there, but she does realize that the eels are just slippery enough to avoid some of the damage. Jozhur appears on the other side of the blob, his dagger cutting into just one of the eels. The eel swarm ignores Jozhur and continues its assault on Reggie, slamming her around and cutting into her (23 damage). The electricity flashes all around her, but cannot penetrate the magical electrical shield.
Rillett, standing in the middle of the room, with all the eel blobs engaged, can carefully plan where to place his spell to heal all his allies and easily exclude the enemies (everyone 19 healing).
The genie creates another shark and heads it towards the eel swarm. The swarm appears to see the shark and is distracted enough to move and shift to try and get away from the illusionary predator.

Zeoll sees that his spell has saved Magana and Terser from confusion. Also that no eels seems to be affected. So he stops concentrating on the Calm, so that his allies can feel free to continue attacking.
He's sorry that the spell also ended any rage powers. Well, better to be fatigued than to be raging and confused, Zeoll figures.
This round, the Genie makes another Shark illusion, sending it after whatever eel swarm is not busy. Maybe he doubles up two sharks on the one swarm. Hopefully that will keep it occupied! (Persistent Image Will DC 17).

Leafy finally makes contact with some of the swarm as they writhe and wiggle around it. The swarm buffets and beats at Leafy, but the new spell resists the damage!
The genie creates another shark and the eel swarm moves and shifts, now trying to battle two sharks at one time! The entire blob glows with electricity as it strikes out at the illusions again and again. While the genie and sharks are occupied, Zeoll calmly walks over to the floating body of the defeated creature. The creature is certainly not moving, other than in the gentle underwater currents. Based on her extensive knowledge, she really has no idea what the thing was. It is still semi-transparent, even in death. It looks like it should be undead, but it clearly is not. It does not look as if it is from this world (extraplanar aberration).
Reggie is tired, but keeps up her assault on the blob, reaching in and crushing a single eel, then tossing it aside. While she does so, Jozhur calls out for help and Rillett responds, healing her once again. While Rillett heals, Jozhur’s blade slices deeply, splitting half a dozen eels in two. The eels respond, damaging Reggie with physical attacks equal to the healing (19 physical damage, 0 electrical). The magical shield continues to absorb the strong electrical pulses. As the attack hits, Zeoll quickly moves over and applies even more healing to Reggie.
Terser manages to step “behind” the blob, but since it is a massive pile of swarming eels, it really doesn’t have a front or back (sorry, no flanking bonus). He steps back, trying to get out of the reach of the eels, and slices into the massive array, chopping chunks and pieces of eel to bits. The eels manage to swarm and continue to reach Terser, biting and slamming into him, with more sparks of electricity burning him (22 physical, 24 electrical damage). Magana responds, trying to beat the eels as well, but the eels in the blob manage to wiggle and swim out of the way.
OOC:
Final word on the calm emotions, confusion, and rage: The spell completely removed the confusion effect. It suppressed the rage effect, but only for one round, and that suppression was after the characters attacked one round and before characters attacked in the next round – so the end result is that rage continues as if the calm emotions hadn’t even been cast.

Zeoll has an idea! He asks the genie to make a net, ready for use, with a trailing rope line. Zeoll asks him to make sure the net has holes small enough to keep in eels!
Zeoll casts True Strike and doffs his shield. He'll need two hands for next round.
The Genie makes the net, using his special ability to make soft goods.
PLAN FOR NEXT ROUND, Zeoll wants to entangle the eel swarm with the bonus from the true strike. The genie will make something to tie the rope to, some kind of float. Then the float will drag the eels up, and they'll be out of our hair! We can do that because ... "When you throw a net, you make a ranged touch attack against your target ... If you hit, the target is entangled ... the entangled creature can move only within the limits that the rope allows."
[OOC to DM: Stoneskin ends after it has absorbed 90 hp, so please track that for me? I'm hoping Leafy's natural DR will stop some, then the rest gets applied to the Stoneskin?]

Leafy attacks the eels again. The plant hits AC21 for 8 slam damage, plus thorns if it is not immune to poison. Then it hits AC20 for another 8, but I think that's a miss?

This round, the Genie hands Zeoll the net and readies the use of Aid Another to distract the oncoming eels and help Zeoll net them.
Zeoll goes invisible, hoping to get a bonus on attacks and to deprive the eels of their dex bonus to AC. We'll see. That's a move action.
Then Zeoll readies his net toss to catch the eels. He is not proficient, but he is counting on the prescience of the True Strike to make up the difference, and more.
When the eels are within 10 ft, the genie Aids Another ... with a +11 to hit, he rolls a 14 to give Zeoll a +2.
Zeoll has bab +4, dex +2, size -1, non-prof -4, aid another +2, invisible +2, true strike +20 = +25. Zeoll rolls a natural 2, and hits Touch AC27. If it works, he drops the float (free action) which hopefully will help constrain the eels' movemnt.
Either way, of course Zeoll drops the invisibility when he attacks.
[OOC: Kindly DMs, are we supposed to be using the standard -2 to hit underwater if you do not have freedom of movement or the right weapon or a swim check? Leafy has not been doing that, nor making swim checks. I do not think any of us have!]

DM Jeff - The Welcoming Committee Monday May 9th, 2016 10:32:19 AM
The battle continues raging, strangely quiet with the heavy water muffling the normal sounds of combat. Terser and Magana continue their relentless assault on the massive blob of eels. Their attacks strike true and it is a few moments before they realize that they have been successful – the blob of eels in front of them has stopped moving and bits and pieces of eel are floating about, slowly sinking towards the sea floor! At the same time, Reggie and Jozhur tear and slash at a similar blob. Reggie is frustrated that she is not doing much damage, but then she realizes that is because the swarm of eels have stopped moving with one still wiggling in her hand, but the rest floating towards the ground and falling apart.
Next, in the middle of a fight for their very lives, Aexana decides to work on some experimentation. She’s not really sure what Storm Burst will do underwater, but she concentrates and brings out that effort, hoping it will help the group. Above ground, the storm burst tends to make some wind, clouds, and rain appear briefly. Underwater, however, everyone feels a sudden shock wave through the water as the area around Leafy’s eel is suddenly disturbed! The water flashes and a small whirlpool appears around the eels. The water flashes with lightning, either from the eels or the spell, Aexana cannot tell. The whirlpool slams and bounces the eels around and then suddenly disappears, sending another shockwave through the water and echoing down the hallways of the underground passages. The eels seem quite disturbed and even unorganized in their blob. Leafy moves forward and buffets the eels, trying to take advantage of their apparent sudden disorganization.
Meanwhile, Zeoll and his genie start implementing his plan. The genie creates his net and Zeoll goes invisible. The two of them work together to throw the net over the large blob of eels. The net easily slides over the top of the eel blob and Zeoll drops the float, clearly labeled “ACME underwater float device.” The net entangles the swarm of eels. When the float is released, some of the eels are caught in the net and are pulled away from the other section of eels! There are now two whirling blobs of eels, but smaller. The eels remaining on the ground spot the swimming shark and start moving away, splitting even further. The float hits the ceiling of the room and the netted eel blob is suspended in mid-air.
Rillett channels another heal to help everyone who is injured. He calls out to Zeoll, but then looks around and realizes that the party isn’t in as much trouble as he thought at first. Two of the blobs have been defeated, one has been split in two, and the final blob appears unorganized and dazed. Now that Terser, Magana, Reggie, and Jozhur have defeated their eel blobs, they can quickly and easily move to the remaining blobs, becoming swarms of their own. With the team working together on the limited targets, it takes just a short time to make short work of the remaining blobs of eels. After the battle, panting is noticeably odd while breathing underwater…

DM Jeff - The Welcoming Committee Tuesday May 10th, 2016 8:56:16 AM Reggie falls to the ground and changes in front of everyone’s eyes. Magana and Zeoll are concerned about their new friend, who wakes up and looks around in confusion. Terser and Zeoll provide healing to everyone as a few bubbles escape from some trapped air in the corner of the room.
Aexana rushes over to check on Leafy. She looks concerned and looks around. She suggests that she and Leafy stay here at the entranceway to keep an eye on the rear guard.
Zeoll takes a look around and sees no other exits from the room, and nothing of significance on the defeated humanoid thing. He suggests moving along, further into the underwater caves quickly, but the others are all exhausted at the moment.

"I agree that we should hurry, but we need to tend to some wounds first."
Rillett regards Terser and Magana. "You know, these two are just not the same without their bubbly personalities."
He pulls a couple of wands our of his pocket, seeming oddly longer than his pocket should allow. Using his Status spell to sense the extent of the damage, he sets to work restoring the charisma of the two back to full. Once that is done, he will use the other wand to cure any physical damage that remains. I think that after Zeoll's healing, that only Terser (9 points back) was still damaged, which Rillett will heal with the wand.
As he does so, he thanks Zeoll and Terser for their healing, and turns to Reggie.
His Status spell did not detect anything that would have changed Reggie's skin color or caused her unconsciousness. Concerned, he asks her, "Reggie, all I could sense is that you were in a Rage, like we see with Magana and Terser in the heat of battle, yet your eyes and skin color changed and you passed out when the fight was done. Why is this? Is this something we should be concerned about?"

There is some discussion and Reggie shows a massive scar to the group. The water continues to ebb and flow around the group as Magana heads into the hallway after Rillett ensures everyone is back up to full strength. Aexana and her plant stay behind to guard the entranceway as the group heads away.
The exit from the room is a smaller hallway. The ground remains relatively solid sand with an occasional small, black rock. The walls and ceiling are smooth in most places, showing that this place was not likely built by hand. The hallway twists and turns little and slowly heads down into the depths. The water gets slightly warmer as the depth increases. At the end of the hallway, those in the lead can see the hallway opens up into a larger space of some sort.

DM Jeff - The Welcoming Committee Thursday May 12th, 2016 9:28:21 AM
The group boldly charges ahead, following the underwater hallway into the next open space. Rillett pauses to cast a spell, but Magana, Reggie, Terser, and Zeoll all barge into the next space.
It turns out that the space is a roughly oval room, much smaller than the last room. The room is dimly lit with some phosphorescent mold on the edges of the ceiling, but the group’s light sources help light up the rest of the room. The walls and ceiling of the room are smooth, dark blue rock, again clearly not made by normal means. The room resembles a large bubble filled with water (and deep under the sea). The floor is flat and even with sand so that it almost feels like a large bubble room with sand in the bottom to make an even surface. The floor of the room is about sixty feet in diameter and the walls head up from that point to quickly close in and create the bubble effect, making the height at the top a mere twenty feet above you. There appears to be a small air bubble trapped at the top of the room, no more than a couple feet across. On the far side of the room is another opening, apparently leading to another hallway.
In the absolute center of the room is a small pedestal with a holy symbol that you quickly recognize at that of Billoopl. A very small silverfish swims past the pedestal and in circles at the edge of the room.

The group pauses cautiously considering the room. Magana thinks about transport, but nothing comes to mind related to what she can see. Terser considers the fish, but watching it doesn't think that anything is too abnormal, occasionally fish do wander into the depths and this one may have just gotten lost in the tunnels.
Reggie heads over to the other hallway, watching for an approach. Zeoll and Rillett watch around the room cautiously, looking for anything out of place... underwater in a cavern with a holy symbol... Zeoll sees nothing of note, but Rillett does detect some strong magic emanating from the pedestal. He sees nothing undead, constructed, or invisible.

Jozhur examines the pedastal closer (but from a safe distance) before following along right behind Reggie and Terser. "Heh, it would be nice to have someone to sling fireballs at end ships."
Perception: 24 (29 to detect traps)
DM Jeff - Into the Caverns Monday May 16th, 2016 8:36:32 AM
The group decides to avoid the pedestal and the statue for now. Jozhur stays away from the pedestal, but tries to see if he can see anything special about it, or if it is trapped. He thinks there might be something to see, but he would really have to get closer to examine it properly…
Meanwhile, the rest of the group stays away from the pedestal and heads into the next hallway. This hallway has long, smooth walls, almost like lava tubes. The hallway twists and turns and rises and falls like the currents of the oceans. You continue walking along a very long distance through the sand and water. You are starting to feel like this direction is going to lead nowhere when you can spot an opening of the hallway coming up ahead.
The group charges into the opening again, revealing a room similar to the last, but larger. Again it is a huge bubble-shaped room. You can just barely see a bit of trapped air at the top of the room, like the last one. Where this room is different is the contents: the exit to the room is on the far side, yet not quite opposite you. And flanking that exit are four statues that look like a cross between a lobster, octopus, and human. The area to the left of the statues is another section of strange darkness and murky water. You cannot quite see into the darkness, but then you realize it is actually moving. A voice suddenly emanates from the darkness, “You have brought the map? I am ready for it now.”
OOC: Post only what can be done in one round at the moment…

Zeoll (Cayzle) (AC25 HP 59 of 59) d20+9=29 ; d20+25=40 ; Monday May 16th, 2016 5:21:50 PM
Zeoll uses his nose and ears to try to discover the general location of the speaker. Sure, it seems to be in the murky area, but what if it is just invisible and actually 10 ft away from the murky area?! That's the kind of thing Zeoll expects, as he becomes more and more accustomed to the mindset of the fey. Perception check to get a feel for the location of the speaker: 40!
Zeoll casts Faerie Fire centered on where he thinks the speaker most likely is ... the murky water? Or wherever his nose and ears tell him. He hopes it will serve to eliminate the defensive advantage the creature in the murk now enjoys. There is no saving throw, but there is Spell Resistance. If it does have SR, then Zeoll's roll to beat SR is 29, a nat 20. Faerie Fire covers an area, not a target, so Zeoll does not have to see the creature to outline it.
With his remaining move action, Zeoll becomes Invisible. And then takes a five foot step closer.

DM Jeff - Into the Caverns d20+3=14 ; d20+3=10 ; d20+3=20 ; d20+3=4 ; 4d6=11 ; d4=4 ; Tuesday May 17th, 2016 10:31:50 AM Rillett casts detect magic and sees strong magic from the statues, the dark area, and an area beyond, near the wall. He does not notice any undead, but the statues are constructs.
Reggie moves up and prepares for battle while Zeoll examines the dark spot. From the best he can tell, the speaker is in the middle of the dark area. When he casts Faerie Fire on the dark space, the glittering dust appears and drops over the space. It illuminates an outline of the entire dark, murky water area, about eight feet tall and nearly as wide. Some of the bits of fire blink and disappear, then appear again as the dark area shifts and oozes.
Terser tenses up and prepares for battle as Magana casts see invisibility. She does not see anything extra at this time, other than what was seen before the spell was cast. Meanwhile, Jozhur slowly shifts through the water to form almost a line of Black Lions across the bubble room.
When Rillett calls out to the darkness, the darkness moves again and eyes appear in the mass. The outline of the creature is lit up, so you can now see, as it turns, the head of a crocodile with massive teeth and bright eyes. The rest of the murky water moves as well, generally forming a humanoid outline, but beyond the faerie fire, the body of the creature is a twisting and swirling black mass of nothingness. The eyes get large as it spots the group and it cries out, “You again! I would have thought that the others would have dealt with you long before now. No matter, you want trouble? You have found it. You shall not get past me. This is why those others were not in charge.” He looks over at the statues and shows a great number of sharp teeth that you can only assume means it is smiling. He continues, “Statues? Take care of these intruders.”
The strange statues come to life and quickly focus on the area in front of them. Each of them launches a trident straight ahead. Two of the tridents fly in the general direction of Reggie, but one clatters off the wall while the other simply falls short. As the tridents stop moving, they vanish from sight. Two others are launched at Magana, but those two also fail to hit their target, disappearing as well.
The oozy creature opens its massive mouth and a line of black acid spews forth, straight at Jozhur! (Jozhur, 11 acid damage, reflex save for half, DC 23).

This is Zeoll's Suggestion spell. With the +2 benefit from his Nemesis Insight spell, +3 from feats, +3 from class abilities, +3 spell level, and +5 wis, that's a Will Save DC26 to resist the spell. The DM may apply some situational mods as well.
Anticipating the demon's Spell Resistance, the old liontaur will pre-emptively use a hero point to boost his Spell Penetration roll by +8. With that bonus, he rolls a 1d20+18 to beat the demon's SR, and gets a ... ugh, error from the Wold. Try again ... a 20. Nat 2. Gee whiz! Maybe that will suffice. If not, maybe some pal(s) of Zeoll's can use a hero point to grant an ex post facto +2 boost.

The weapon has a saving throw bonus of +6 or use Magana’s, whichever you prefer. Failure means the weapon is destroyed). Terser sees the action and quickly moves as well, striking true into the depths of the acid beast. His weapon does damage, but the acid sizzles and burns (I can’t tell what weapon you’re using. It also needs a reflex save, DC 23, or the weapon is destroyed). Reggie shifts and moves, preparing for a fight. Jozhur takes action and easily flanks the creature. His weapon also strikes but only does so much damage to the oozy, disgusting beast (DR) and the cold appears to have no effect at all (Another weapon needs a reflex save vs DC 23 or the weapon is destroyed).
Rillet senses the action and moves sideways, casting dispel evil. He notes that there is not a door in this underground area, likely because the wood would never last long underwater without a great deal of magic. Instead, the rooms are separated by simple curving hallways and the next room is likely just around the curve of the hallway.
The creature bellows in apparent pain and turns to face Terser! The massive crocodile maw opens and arms of acid reach out for him! One of the arms misses him, but the other slams into his side, sizzling with acid (8 physical damage, 4 acid damage). The acid burns as the arm pulls Terser towards the oozy mess of a demon, holding him tightly (Terser has the grappled condition).

He will touch the creature, attempting to use Dispel Evil to drive it back to it's home plane. (hits Touch AC 15, rolled 25 to overcome SR, and the creature will need to make a DC 21 Will save or be gone.)

Terser manages to fling the acid off of his glaive before any real damage is done, but in doing so is grabbed up by its acidic appendage.

Zeoll completes his spell, spontaneiously replacing a Prayer spell. Roll for a Fey Friend: a 2 summons another genie!
[OOC: Last time I was focused on vegetable matter that the djinni could create. But I was reading poorly. If the djinni makes vegetable matter it is permanent. But it CAN make other substances, with more limited durations. The djinni power of Major Creation is at CL9.]
By the power of his summons, the old liontaur places the genie down the hall towards the oncoming "heavy footfall" creatures. Zeoll thanks the genie for his help, as he asks him to hold his breath and create a barrier with his major creation power -- a stone grill across the curved hallway over there, where those creatures are coming from, but placed so that there is no line of sight between us and it. He can make nine cubic feet, so Zeoll is thinking that he could make a stone grill that's nine feet high by 20 feet across that offers 50% blockage of the passage. Hopefully that's enough to keep the things at bay, at least for now.
Zeoll asks the genie to come back this way after making his stone grill, so that he will be out of line of sight of the things.
As for Zeoll himself, he casts a Command spell on the demon. His roll to beat its SR is 1d20+9 vs DC22, and he rolls an 11, so the spell fails. He steps further back with a move action to make sure he is not in melee range of the thing. Ideally, he will be towards the stone grill and the genie, but out of line of sight of the oncomers and the grill.

The hall is curved and Zeoll is hopeful. Reggie goes with the genie, ready to help if the creatures being walled off manage to overcome the barrier Magana charges in and blasts into the demon ooze with her horns. The creaure winces and the minotaur is burned for her efforts, but neither as much as one might have expected. A small bubble escapes from the body of the acid demon and floats upward towards the top of the hallway. The group tries to decide their best course of action...

"We station Reggie or Jozhur down this corridor a bit to alert us to anything coming from where we were headed."
"What do you guys think?"
For the DM - Is this a 10' corridor? Does it seem like these creatures could break through that wall?
DM Jeff - The Hallway Tuesday May 31st, 2016 7:46:18 AM
The hallway here twists and turns and rises and falls like the currents of the sea. Occasionally there is a push from the water underground as the water flows gently through the tunnel. It is about ten feet wide, but there are sections that are narrower and sections that are wider.
Back down the hallway, the summoned genie created a series of stone columns creating a jail-cell like setup. The constructs that were with the acid demon are on the other side, banging into the stone, trying to get past. Zeoll knows that the stone barriers will last for a long time before the magic wears out (9 hours). They are solid stone and appear to be holding against the tridents of the constructs.
Rillett suggests going back to deal with the constructs, but it may be a long time before the stone barriers disappear. There are gaps in the stone barriers, but poking the constructs may take even longer. The hallway going forward beacons to the group, daring them to move along and meet their next challenge…
