Bosk waits, unsure what will happen...

==========

Bosk is ready to joint the coven.

Garret inquires as to the availability of various meats.

Zane is ready to joint the coven.

Restlin is ready to joint the coven.

Sesha considers the questions posed to her.

Beriothian is ready to joint the coven.

Tink stands and waits for an answer.

=====

The footman outside the door is rather startled to be addressed personally by a member of the Dragon Consortium. "My, my name is Breck, noble lord." He bows hastily. "You may go wherever you desire, but we have strict orders to accompany you and see to your needs. The manor staff have been... acting as quickly as possible to prepare for a reception befitting your presence." He licks his lips nervously. "If you desire, noble lord, I can have a charcuterie platter brought up immediately. The smokemaster just finished a great lizard that was brought from the Thunder Valley. I believe it is called a die-now-sour?"

ooc: Sesha, do your thing!

With the blood ceremony done, Tink smiles and looks about the room. She finds a place to privately write a note on a piece of parchment. She folds it up quickly and then goes to speak to the footman.

"Can you please see that this note is delivered to Thessan Hushfoot? He works as a law clerk here" She holds the parchment out until the footman takes it.

The note....

Dear Father,
I hope this letter finds you well. It has been a while since our last correspondence. As luck would have it I am in Plateau City at the moment. If you aren't too busy, I would like to see you. Perhaps over a game of chess? Mother would be cross with me if I didn't check in from time to time.
All my love, Katinka

"Oh, a smoked lizard? That does sound quite nice. I can go down and get it." Then he looks back at the others playing with a knife and continues, "Oh, but I probably shouldn't leave the group just yet. Things happen when we get too separated from one another. I would like to try the smoked lizard if it is not too much trouble."

As the ceremony finishes up a flood of strange emotions flood Beri's soul. It takes him a while to sort out the sudden excitement and fear that has come over him. There is something about these emotions that aren't right however... slowly it comes to him, these aren't his emotions! This must be the emotional empathy Sesha mentioned. Once he understands what is going on, he is quickly able to process these new feelings and regains his composure.

Wow... I'm not quite sure what I was expecting with that emotional empathy stuff, but that's crazy! And telepathy, definitely looking forward to knowing I can communicate when I unexpectedly need to switch forms!

Zane waits to see if any of the others has suggestions on how to spend the time between now and their meeting.

Bosk looks at his palm as several tattoos of scorpions crawl up his arm and align themselves along the edge of the incision where a small pool of blood wells up. He blows across his palm as he channels energy to heal the entire group of their wounds, even if their life force will not be restored.

He finds it strange to have such an emotional connection to the rest of the group and wonders how the others will respond to experiencing his. In many cases they are overwhelming, and it is only his training as an Avenger that taught him to maintain control of of them.

==========

Bosk heals the group of their wounds after joining together in blood.

Garret orders some charcuterie.

Zane is feeling out of sorts with all of this celebrity attention.

Restlin is eager to head to the temple of Wardd.

Sesha drains everyone of their essence, a tiny bit, to power the coven.

Beriothian feels funny after joining the coven, and wonders what it will be like for the party when he takes animal form!

Tink prepares a letter.

=====

The footmen return within minutes, bearing a silver platter the size of a wagon wheel. It is loaded with meats, cheeses, and crackers of every variety. In the center is a smaller platter with several thick slabs of smoked meat, with a placard advertising the various cuts available.

Before they leave, Tink gives them a note to deliver. Breck promises to deliver the letter at once.

Just as the group is discussing their next move, the door flies open in a burst. "Greetings, Iron Dragons!" Into the room waltzes a gnome. Perhaps the most extravagant personage you have ever laid eyes upon. He is middle-aged and of average height for his race, and he wears a cloak that extends to the floor. His hair and clothes are a riot of color. The fabric is obviously enchanted, and the hues wriggle and writhe like electric rainbow snakes. His face is almost manic in exuberance and joy. A trio of footmen stand behind him holding bolts of cloth in a dozen colors. "I am Zilius Shockspinner! The finest tailor in the Elennian Peninsula, and personal fashion consultant to the Lord High Mayor. I heard that the Iron Dragons of the Dragon Consortium were in town and I had to come and see you." He takes in the party in one sweeping glance. "And I am none too late. Some more than others. You are all stars in this city, but I will have you glowing like the celestial fires of heaven before I am through. We cannot have anything less for your premiere at the court."

He holds up his hand and snaps his fingers. The trio of footmen come to attention. "Measurements! All of them. I will be attending to my sketchpad." The gnome sits in a heap of color onto the nearest divan and begins scratching furiously at a pad of paper. He appears to be drawing with his finger, and a minor illusion effect draws and colors at his command. The footmen set down the bolts of cloth and withdraw measuring tape. They smile and look to see who will be first.

"Oh let's just get this over with."
He stands up and pulls off his upper clothing, reveling the tattoo on his back. Those who've seen it before, now see the bronze dragon covering his shoulders from side to side with outstretched wings and the seas underneath are even more roiled up than before if possible.
"We might have a problem Mr Tailor, my robes are magical and thusly compensate when I do this." At that, the wings of the tattoo seem to peel from his skin and grow ever larger until he has a very large pair of Bronze colored Dragon's wings......

Tink knows a thing or two about crafting garments (+39 Craft Clothing) but doesn't mention it. She smiles politely to the gnome, although does raise an eyebrow at the gnomes comments. "Some more than others? Hmmm... I should probably make sure Sesha doesn't turn him into a toad"

"Far be it from me to try and influence your creative flair, Master Shockspinner, but perhaps I might have some 'material' you might be able to incorporate in your designs. Wouldn't it be fitting for the Iron Dragons to be adorned with dragon scales?"

Tink produces the wyvern scales & hide the party collected in an earlier battle (Sept 21st 2015)

"I had always fancied blue dragon scale shoulder guards myself"

Beri looks down at his druid vestments, they are nice but perhaps a little battle worn, and almost certainly not of the style that would be expected for a formal feast in this country.

I'm ready for my measurements whenever you are, I am sure anything you create will look fabulous. What is the current fashion here?

Beri considers Zane's request, but decides it doesn't apply as much to him. The clothing would only matter as a master of a thousand faces. Any real transformation he might want to do would transform the cloths as well. And the odds of needing such a transformation tonight is minimal, this isn't some deserted street where an ambush could be expected.

When the delightful gnome appears, Garret steps back and stares. When he mentions clothes, Garret looks down at his simple, worn, and possibly quite stained pants (that aren't quite long enough for him) and his rope belt. Bosk soaks in the scene.

Garret is momentarily distracted from his plate of meats and cheese, but returns with gusto after a few moments.

Zane cooperates begrudgingly, and stretches out his wings to impress the little gnome.

Restlin kindly stops Garret from returning to the platter and reminds him that the monk could use a wardrobe update.

Sesha soaks in the scene.

Beriothian cooperates happily, considering he can change his appearance at will.

Tink suggests making an accessory out of blue dragons scales!

=====

Zilius is thrilled that no one is actively resisting the process. He gushes over Zane's wings. "Oooooh!" He claps his hands in excitement. "They are just as I had heard! We can make you adaptive clothing to suit your fabulous physiology. Not a problem." He turns to Tink. "Those. Are. Gorgeous. I would be happy to turn them into stylish pauldrons!"

After a considerable amount of sketching, measuring, cutting, sewing, and adjusting, the Iron Dragons are dressed to the nines.

ooc: Feel free to make your outfits whatever you like, equivalent to a royal outfit in cost and craftsmanship. They are not glamered, but they will adjust to your bodies and change color at your mental command.

Zilius Shockspinner gives a bow. "You have honored me, serving as my canvas. I cannot wait to see the look on the face of the nobility. Especially Lady Hawksworth. That venomous harridan had the gall to besmirch my trade, all because I she lied about her measurements and tore her bustier!" He turns on his heels and departs the room, along with the fashion footmen.

You realize that in all the hubbub, you have perhaps an hour before your audience with the Lord High Mayor!

"Hrm."

Sesha considers the material. She considers Restlin. She thinks briefly of Mhalice, and sighs. she leaves her room and heads to where the men are.

"You."

She pokes Restlin almost immediately upon entering the room. She's wearing a dress colored deep charcoal grey, several shades heavier than her own bright gray skin. It's trim, on the wide sleeves and skirt hems, are red, a color she usually chooses to ignore. Her dress has a hood, also trimmed in crimson, which coupled with her scarf, now monogramed with the white rose of Serenbeth, hides most of her face.

Long twin-tail braids of white hair tied with red clips made of wyvern skin rest gently halfway down her chest.

"Keep in mind that in the future, when we appear together in It'lal, we are expected to share some color in our clothing when we appear together. Unless your out of favor with me, then your not supposed to, because your only supposed to color match a matron if she allows it. Unless you are in favor but we don't want to publicly announce a relationship, then you wear colors not related to mine, but I honor you with a token of the same color. But.. um.. if you aren't specifically allowed and you do it by accident .. then.. then..?"

Sesha stomps a foot and massages her brain, trying to remember the myriad of social cues Mhalice tried to brief her on in their last short, brief meeting in the Giggling Ghost. Confusion and embarrassment ripple over their emotional link.

"Just wear something handsome, mage-priest!"

Sesha pokes him again, then stomps out of the room and barges into Tinks room.

"I am going to be the worst matron ever Tink." With a groan, she flops face first onto Katinka bed.

"Boys are stupid."

Restlin wordlessly listens to Sesha try and explain what he should wear as her consort. He remains wordless as she pokes him again and stomps out.

He stands a moment, a trickle of amusement filling the coven's emotional link, along with...something else. She did look very nice. He turns to their fancy tailor.

"Well, you heard the lady. Charcoal with crimson trim."

The result is a charcoal suit. The jacket falls just above his waist. The vest is mostly charcoal as well, but embellished with a fine golden chain. A crimson silk ascot adds the color the rest of the suit lacks. Angled from his shoulder is a new baldric for Shiny that leaves the blade bare for all to see. The intelligent weapon is quite fond of it. His cloak is well contained by a platinum clasp fashioned from the holy symbol he created. The cloak covers one shoulder & hangs asymmetrically.

He takes off his detectivin' cap. "This hat is important, sir, but obviously I can't wear it with this. Any ideas?"

The result is a charcoal top hat with a crimson feather and band of crimson wyvern hide. The symbol of Wardd peeks above the band, as if winking at anyone who looks. It's just a bit ridiculous, really, but definitely in character with the magepriest. The original cap is woven into the top interior of the hat, hiding it, but still granting him use of its powers.

The whole ensemble is tailored to allow complete freedom of movement and contains hidden hardware allowing him to clip leather component pouches, also made from crimson wyvern hide.

He knocks on Tink's door to present himself to his (probably) still embarrassed paramour. "Well?" he asks with a spin. "How's this?"

After looking at the place card the young taur helps himself to some cheese, ribs and loin meat and eats with his best manners until the tailor arrives...Some of you more than others.

The Horned Cleric mentally reviews his appearance. Neatly groomed blond hair with a nice black pea-coat sewn of chimera skin for an outer layer. The material is strangely soft and warm, thick enough that it conceals any weapons or armor underneath yet light enough to be cool to wear in the sun...but more importantly he sees how the end sweeps just above the floor as he walks making him look totally bad but in a good way. Under the his Steel Grass armor is visible, the woven material of the Sargrass strangely exotic and unobtainable since the land was set magically on fire.

Bosk nods in agreement with the others. I think black with blue dragon scales would look nice, but I will leave the style up to you. What ever is designed cannot interfere with anything magical I carry, and I must easily be able to access my bag of holding. My pockets must large enough to be functional, and my sleeves left loose. (Bosk has spring loaded wrist sheaths up his wrists from a G.G. gift, used for R.P., and a lead pocket liner which he stores his poisons in to prevent scrying). As for the rest of my appearance, I can move my tattoos to accommodate your look. They will go where I tell them.

For a moment the cleric thinks about offering the use of his armor detailing kit, with unique pigments that can dye, paint and embellish his gear (lotto prize), but he assumes the man before him will have as nice if not nicer equipment and decides not to risk offending the guy.

"I don't think I can take you to It'lal after all. I'll be killing challengers for my chosen by the day."

She steps out of the way when she Tink slides out, then grabs Restlin and pulls him into the room and slams the door shut behind them. She gives him a firm hug, then holds him at arms length.

"I'm really, really glad that my chosen male is both intelligent and charming. If you were simply smart enough to classify my moods and emotions, but not charming enough to convince me that they are endearing to you rather than a hassle, I don't think this thing would work out. Garret looks over when Restlin explains about the tailor. He looks down at his single item of clothes, the pants, and says, “Stains? I don’t see any stains?” Of course, there are many, many stains. And holes.

He watches with interest as the others line up and select a myriad of different colors and styles. He is impressed by the blue dragon scales and he mentions to the tailor that he has ridden dragons, twice actually. When he is asked about the styles of clothes he says, “Well, these pants have worked fine for me, so I suppose I could just have another pair just like them? Oh, but with all the different people picking so many different styles and colors, maybe I should have an entire rainbow of colors? Then I would match everyone, right?”

Taking queues from the rest of the Iron adventurers, Beri chooses a suit the color of dark iron with a slight luster to it. Pulling in the colors of the rest of the IA, but paying extra care not to match Sesha. His jacket is embroidered with leaves and vines the color of steelgrass, intricately dancing down his jacket's lapel, and down his shoulders and sleeves. Throughout the delicate weaving are flowers with petals that appear to be of blue dragon scales... of course, the flowers are far to small to be real dragon scales, but the symbolism is clear.

Underneath his jacket is a crimson shirt, with darker grey patterns woven in. A close inspection show it to be a field of red flowers, with glimpses of the shade covered iron ground beneath. His pants are much more simple, of like shimmering iron fabric, and a comfortable pair of steelgrass colord shoes complete his outfit.

Beri takes some time to put his hair into order, using iron fasteners to hold it into place, each one in the shape of a dragon with blue eyes and a jet of blue flames coming from their mouths.

Well, I think we clean up rather well for a bunch of seasoned adventurers. What do you think?

Beri shows the others his outfit and asks them what they think.

Zane watches as the Gnome worked his magic and his MAGIC. He waited while the Gnome worked his robe into the design. It being a simple brown was causing problems.....
Eventually, Zane needed to take it off for the "Official" fancy outfit, but the cut of it allowed it to be worn underneath as well when required. The end result was highly different from what most of the rest have.
It's a basic glossy black silk with white edging, that in the right light shows it's metallic bronze underweave. The sleeves when his arms are in front of him, hang a good four feet, showing the design which is a lightning pattern. The Back is embroidered with the same dragon picture as his tattoo. The Dragon scales are worked into the picture imitating the flow of the roiling seas, looking like crashing waves under the picture of the dragon. While Zane had been able to see parts of the picture before, he hadn't seen the whole thing.
He also got a pair of pants to match and the look on a almost 9' talk Minotaur wasn't too bad. (picture the robes cut like the bad guys in Big Trouble in Little China, but colored as described)
"It'll do for formal times, but I'm more of a informal clothing type of guy I guess."

Tink is enamored with her new blue dragon scale pauldrons.

=====

The hour of preparation left to you flies by in a rush, and a soft knock at your door lets you know that it is time. You gather yourselves into something resembling a processional, and open the door. Cailean is there with two footmen, and all three are dressed in full livery -- white cassocks with a golden sunburst on the chest and brocaded sleeves in gold. They bow and motion forward. "This way, mah lairds."

Cailean takes the lead with the footmen trailing. You make your way through another bewildering array of chambers and halls until you come to an imposing set of double-doors. They are tall enough for a minotaur, and covered entirely in relief-set gold gilt. They swing open, and you find yourself in a vaulted chamber. White marble floors and columns support an arched ceiling some thirty feet above your heads. Numerous stained-glass windows allow sunlight to filter into the room and create an array of fuzzy artwork on the highly-polished floor. The room is perhaps 200 feet long, and between the columns flanking your path are dozens of well-dressed men and women of numerous races. All of them are dressed in clothes that would cost a peasant a year's wages, at least.

At the far end sits a throne. It is on a dais only one step above the gallery (he is a High Lord Mayor after all, not a king). It is likewise covered in gold gilt with a red velvet seat. On the seat is a human male, dressed in resplendent robes of white silk with gold brocade and a brilliant sunburst on his left breast. He is middle-aged, with brown shoulder-length hair and a neatly-trimmed beard. His eyes are a piercing blue. He wears thick golden chain for a necklace, likely his symbol of office. He reaches up a hand and beckons you forward.

You proceed along the length of the court, and people show respects with every step. Some bow, some curtsy, and those with especially regal outfits give polite nods. An administrator flanking the Mayor gives a small signal for you to stop about twenty feet short of the dais. Cailean bows, steps to the side, and takes a knee in respect. He whispers out the side of his mouth. "Ye dornt need tae kneel, but ye main baw an' introduce yoorselves tae th' coort."

Walking into the large chamber, Beri glances around the room taking note of the people inside and trying to judge whether they are excited to see them or if their faces hide more sinister thoughts. At this point the druid is feeling at ease, but having been ambushed in one such meeting, and jailed in another ( admittedly due to the party's own uncouth actions), he can't help but still be on alert to some degree. On the off chance that something does seem off he will notify the party telepathically.

Beri follows the rules of courtly introduction he had picked up in Hook City, takes a step forward and gives a deep bow to show his respect, then introduces himself to the court.

"Beriothian Galanodel, Druid of the Iron Dragons" .

The druid considers saying more, but notes that Cailean's instructions said only to introduce themselves. Not wanting to break protocol he steps back in line and lets the others introduce themselves.

He watches Tink and Beri do as they're told. He decides that's probably a good course of action. Taking a step forward, he bows without flourish. He stays bowed, but looks up at the High Mayor before continuing, "...who are very new to this level of celebrity status, and who are all quite sorry to have not given you proper notice of our arrival."

He stands and steps back with his friends. "Isn't that right, everybody?"

He darts back and forth trying to stay in line at times, but clearly his curiosity keeps getting the best of him. When they walk into the throne room, Garret stops and looks around, his mouth agape. He takes in the room until someone nudges him along with the group. As they walk along, he spots the people on the sides and when he catches someone’s eye, he waves to them and greets them with a “Hi there,” or “Hello, how are you?” When they stop and told to introduce themselves, Garret waves to the Lord Mayor as well and says, “Hi. Beriothian introduces himself. He does not spy any immediate dangers.

Tink introduces herself. She estimates that there is enough wealth in the room, both present and represented, to buy half the Elennian Peninsula. Merchant lords, landed nobles, mercenary captains, and powerful spellcasters are rubbing shoulders in this room.

=====

Those of you deploying any type of magical detection are almost overwhelmed by the sheer amount of magic in the room -- primarily abjurations, but a good number of transmutation and necromantic auras can be seen. Most likely spells to protect, enhance, and bolster very important people against attacks. You would guess that nearly every single occupant in the room carries some type of enchantment on their person.

But all pale in comparison to the Lord High Mayor. His magical auras blaze like a bonfire surrounded by mere torches. You would guess that he wears extremely powerful items on person, perhaps even a minor artifact.

The Lord High Mayor Sturtavent stands and clasps his hands behind his back. He clears his throat, and the court falls silent. "Greetings." His voice is obviously amplified by magic, and resounds throughout the chamber as though he were whispering in the ear of every person present (ooc: like a microphone with speakers). "By the authority of my office, I welcome you. My court welcomes you. Plateau City is graced by your presence." His voice is a deep and smooth baritone, filled with regal wisdom. "May the gods guide you to glory and victory to bless their children. What brings you to my city?"

Regardless, he clears his throat and begins.

"Very well, Lord High Mayor. We are here investigating a Death Dragon cult. One of their cells attacked us in Hook City in broad daylight. We fought them off, but they were no pushovers.

"Tink and Bosk here managed some success in their interrogation. We've learned that the head of this cult, or at least *a* head of this cult, is a lich who's been operating from around these parts. My own research suggests this lich has been doing so for years. They count the entire Dragon Consortium as their enemies and seek to discredit and destroy all of us.

"They claim to serve Gargul, and they did indeed practice divine magic. This does not jive with Gargul's current...disposition." He starts to relax as he talks.

"Anyway, we're hear to investigate the cult, find out if and how they're channeling Gargul's divinity, and put a stop to this lich."

Still, she had a play to make. She gazes intently at the man, her one good eye twinkling with arcane sight.

A susurrus of whispers rises among the court as Sturtavent nods to acknowledge your leave. Those in attendance cannot share the information they have heard, but there is nothing to stop them from talking with someone already in-the-know. Those in power are always planning.

High Priest Eorcenbald shuffles forward, his staff rapping on the marble floor with each step. He stops in front of you and smiles, puckering his already wrinkled face. "Shall we?" "You may feel a bit dizzy. It will pass." He smiles with a glint in his eye. "And please pardon my theatrics. I do not require a command word to return to the sanctuary, but the nobility does not need to know that. This way, if you would."

Holy symbols of Gargul are no less than a span apart from each other. At the center is a pedestal with a black stone bowl. Eorcenbald heads toward the bowl. "Well, now. It is not every day we need to contact Lord Gargul directly. We will first contact Gimp. Old Grim Eyes is a stickler for protocol. I'm too old to make waves any more."

I believe there are good and evil followers of every god in the wold, and I do not think any want evil followers. Perhaps the inherent struggle of good and evil in the Wold is mirrored in their divinity, the essence of the two somehow intertwined?

Father Eorcenbald takes a deep breath and huffs it out. "All right, then. I hope you are prepared."

The Grand Cleric of Gargul reaches into a pocket near his waist and retrieves a small pearl. He bends down and places it on the ground. He aims his staff carefully, and raps the butt on the pearl, smashing it to pieces. He looks up and speaks to the ceiling. "Gimp. It's Eorcenbald. I am calling in Favor 4. Personal audience."

All is still. The air becomes heavy, your skin feels too tight, and the water in the bowl trembles. Suddenly the water explodes into droplets, showering you with vapor, and a small devilish-looking creature sits in the basin of the bowl. He regards you with a slightly peeved look. "Yes, Eorcenbald? I was in the middle of a very important matter."

"Dice?"

"That is none of your concern!" Gimp the Imp eyes the party. "I remember some of you. What's up?"

Tink remains seated in the cross-legged position. "I wonder what favours 1 through 3 were?"

She opens her eyes and smiles politely to the imp.

"Our apologies for calling you away from your 'important matter'", Master Imp" Tink really isn't sure how she should address Gimp. Calling him by name would be too personal and informal. "Master" seems to convey respect, so she sticks with that. "We seek information about a cult following of your Master. They call themselves Death Dragons."

Tink rises from her seated position and clasps her hands before her.

"They seek to cause trouble in the Wold in the name of Gargul"

Beri jumps back slightly at the unexpected explosion. The theatrics are quite impressive, he wonders briefly whether these vary by region or whether Gargul uniquely designs this for each group.

Bowing slightly before Gimp, the druid makes his introduction.
It us a pleasure to see you again Gimp, especially since I have not been forced here prematurely this time... or am not asking to leave prematurely. I'm never quite sure how to phrase such things, though I'm sure Bosk will be happy to give me a detailed lecture on such things this evening.

It is as Tink said, there is a group causing trouble in the name of Gargul. They appear to be same order from ages past who are resurfacing once again.

Bosk smiles as Gimp appears before them. He remembers the creature's impish attitude, even with the Lord of Life and Death and recalls how the imp always referred to him as Bosky and Gargul as Bossy Man. Gimp, it has been too long. I hope all is well with you. Most of what you told me about my future has already come to pass. Tink is correct. The cult attacked us and it sounds like they are trying to bring forth the darker nature of Gargul's past and drawing power from it. We believe the head of the cult is the undead lich responsible for my parent's demise. If I recall correctly, her name was Vivian Taurbane. Any information we could gleam on the lich or its occult would be helpful, as would any insight into Gargul's feelings on the matter, though our first meeting did make it clear how he feels about those who would try to subvert his Grim.

Master Gimp's mouth opens ever so slightly during your explanation, and stays that way.

"Wat." The imp looks thoroughly confused. "What's a Death Dragon? There's a whole cult of them!? And they're worshiping Bad-Gargul!? And casting spells!? AND THEY'RE LED BY A LICH!?"

He snaps his gaze to the priest. "Yorkie! Talk some sense. Is this legit?"

Father Eorcenbald clears his throat. "I have not confirmed it. It happened on the Southern Continent. They are members of the Dragon Consortium, now. It is a safe bet to trust them."

Gimp rubs his temples. "Frak. Fraaaaaaak. Frak frak frak. Okay. Okay, we can handle this." He looks at the Iron Dragons. "Sorry. One of the duties I perform for Bossy Man is keeping an eye on the physical plane. You mortals get into all sorts of trouble, and I have to keep him apprised of what's what. But this... this is new. Hold on." He puts his face in his hands and gently rocks back and forth, deep in thought.

After perhaps ten seconds, he gasps for air. "I got nothin'! I've never heard of these guys. I've never heard of anyone worshiping his dark side. I've NEVER heard of Bossy Man allowing no undead to cast spells!" He sighs dejectedly. "I guess I need to ask Gargul. Just a sec."

Gimp looks at the ceiling (while other planes of existence are hardly 'up,' it apparently is a universal sign of speaking to someone not present), and speaks. "Bossy Man! I have a question. Do you know anything about Death Dragons, Vivian Taurbane, or worshiping your bad side?"

After several seconds, Gimp furrows his eyebrows. "Uhh... Bossy Man?"

Several seconds. "Um, what? Bossy Man! Question about Death Dragons!"

Nothing.

Gimp looks at the party, his face obviously perplexed. "So.... I can't reach Bossy Man. I can FEEL him. I can sense his power. But... I can feel his power being blocked every time I think of the Death Dragons. Watch. Off. On! Off. On! Off. On!" He scratches his face. "That's never happened. Something is blocking me. Something is blocking whenever I try to ask about these Death Dragons. Even my empathy link is cut off when I think about it."

He looks at the priest. "Yorkie. This is super serious."

Eorcenbald nods. "I know."

Gimp raises an eyebrow. "Any ideas?"

Eorcenbald shakes his head. "None. Whatever it is, it is powerful. Someone does not want Gargul to be involved. Allow me to try." The priest closes his eyes and mumbles a prayer. After a few moments, he also furrows his eyebrows and raises his head. "Remarkable! I contacted Lord Gargul, felt his presence in my mind, and the moment I thought of the Death Dragons the link was cut like a door slamming shut."

Gimp looks at the Iron Dragons. "What about you guys? Any ideas?"

Tink looks at Gimp, aghast.

"Anything that could interupt or sever the connection between Gimp and Gargul is way beyond any power that I know of" she says to the group.

She turns back to Gimp "This may be perhaps the oddest question you've ever been asked, but are you able to determine whether Gargul is ok? I'm just fearful that the kind of power that could affect your contact with him may be the result of another deity. Specifically... Marteus"

Beri ponders the situation for a moment.
I suppose the first step is to test the limits of the spell itself, see what we CAN ask him.

For starters, "are you there?" See if normal communication is possible, not just a connection.

"do you know what is blocking our communication". It's an easy to miss edge case, and technically does not involve thinking of the Death Dragons.

We could simply ask "where" and trust Gargul to guide us to what we need, even if he can't convey anything about the situation.

We could just ask him if he wants to meet for a pint of beer. That in no way involves the currently blocked topics. And if Garret requests it any magical scrying or such on his intent will come up as pure and that he truly just thinking about filling his belly!

You know, if you really believe you are on the right side you would think that the last thing you would want is to block out the proof.

If it is not likely that others are observing this conversation he continues. Is there an infirmary or hospice house close by where someone might be passing on to see Gargul soon? If so, perhaps we could send him a message with them. If not, we might be forced to look elsewhere for information.

Gimp, I do not suppose you could offer us a boon. Some trinket or piece of knowledge that might help us on our way. As one of Gargul's Eyes I know some of you and Garul's history and the parts of Gargul's past they might be drawn to, but none of the specifics. Can you tell us if there are any special items or or locations that might have meaning or use to the occult? "Let me try." Gimp closes his eyes and concentrates, his face screwing up from the effort.

"He's there. He says he's fine. He says I'm being impertinent." He pauses for a few moments. "I can't even ask him about the block. Even thinking about the block is activating the block." Pause. "He says he does not know about any new major threats. That's about as specific as I can get and maintain a link." Pause. "I think he's concerned now. I keep breaking off. Hold on."

Nearly a minute passes in silence.

Gimp opens his eyes. "Okay. Bossy Man is concerned, which on a scale of seriousness from 1 to 10, is an 11. He knows I keep getting cut off, and that I'm trying to talk to him, and it only happens when I try to talk about a certain thing. I was able to ask him about undead in the area. He 'looked around' and found something funny near us. Some crazy-strong emanation." Gimp holds up a finger and points. "He said its that way. He couldn't get more specific. Too many overlapping auras. I don't know, I'm not a wizard."

Father Eorcenbald raises an eyebrow. "Exactly that way?"

Gimp looks at his finger, adjusts it half an inch. "Yep! That way."

Eorcenbald huffs. "Very well. Let me see... South by southeast... There is nothing but ocean! Until you reach," he purses his mouth in in thought. "Until you reach Farpoint Island. It is a small, rocky outcropping, over 100 leagues from the city proper. It has been charted many times, and every time confirmed to be nothing but rock, inhabited only by lichen and seabirds. But over the past several weeks, there have been ships missing. The town of Red Colt on the coast keeps us apprised of merchant traffic. Not many, perhaps half a dozen. It has been chalked up to storms or pirates or such, but now that I think about it... they would have all passed within a close distance to Farpoint Island."

Gimp speaks. "I asked Bossy Man about an audience. He asked why, and I lost the connection. He told me to stop goofing around." The imp grimaces. "I think Bossy Man is worried, and is going to look into things himself. You guys should probably do the same."

Restlin - Highlight to display spoiler: {"Hm? Sure, I'm bored anyway. Hold on... Gargul just called me a scoundrel and told me he's busy. Sorry." You find his response to be both disturbing and completely expected, as befits Wardd.}

"Always, you snotty little witch."

She hadn't spoke much with the spirit companion lately, and felt slightly bad about it. She'd have to make up for it somehow. In the meantime though, there was work to be done.

"One. We should make a couple of assumptions. If Gimp is blocked from telling Gargul about this, we can assume that the blocker knows that we tried to report on the situation. So were probably going in with them waiting."

She holds up a her slender fingers and counts.

"Two. Lets assume that since they can kidnap ships in a radius around their island, they can scry it safely enough and that it's warded. A teleport in or flying over the surface might get us detected. I suggest we play sailor for awhile until they nab us."

It is ostensibly a merchant vessel, but is in actuality a ship crewed by militia commandos and used as a cover for clandestine operations. It can take you to the edge of the area where ships are disappearing. You could then use overland flight to reach the island. As before in the court of the High Lord Mayor, Eorcenbald bids you to place your hands on each other's shoulders. Just before you leave, Gimp promises to continue doing his best to find out what is happening. The sacred chamber within the Temple of Gargul pops and you are once again in the presence of Sturtavent. He still sits on his throne wearing his regalia, but the chamber is empty save a few retainers and servants.

He rises. "We are scrying every member of the court, and thus far no one has given us cause for concern." He motions toward a side door, where Cailean stands at attention. "The crowds will recognize you, and mob you, if you are seen outside. Cailean will guide you through the manor to a back door. It leads to a private courtyard. Two carriages wait to take you to Red Colt. You will be accompanied by men without livery. They can have you to the coast in a few hours, and boarded on the Shrieking Eel soon after. Please, let us know if there is anything Plateau City can do to aid your quest."

Father Eorcenbald hands the party a scroll tube. "There are eight scrolls of overland flight, enchanted with enough strength to get you to the island and then some, in case of emergency."

Cailean opens the side door and beckons to you.

[ooc: Please post anything you would like to say, request, or prepare before leaving.]

You are led through the manor house, out the back door, and into the interior of two carriages. They bear no mark or heraldry, and neither do the men who accompany you on horseback. The drivers whip their reins and you speed through the city streets and countryside.

After perhaps four hours, you arrive in Red Colt. Peeking out the slats of the windows reveals a typical port city, filled with homes, shops, warehouses, and docks. The carriages drive right up to the dockyards, and stop in front of a gangplank. The Shrieking Eel is ready to receive you. The sailors on board, like the men who escorted you, bear no mark or heraldry. The captain of the vessel looks like the captain of any other merchant vessel, but his eyes dart back and forth with the wariness of a man expecting trouble. "Please come aboard and stow yourselves below deck. Quickly! You can come above deck after we have left the harbor."

You cross the gangplank and step around sailors in trousers and bare feet hauling ropes, hoisting sails, and making ready for departure. Below deck you find several cots arranged around piles of crates and barrels. Obviously this is no passenger liner, but it will do for now.

The captain and crew are eerily silent. They prepare their ship without the barking orders typical of sailors, and you feel the Shrieking Eel leave the dock, swivel, and make for the open sea.

Zane, feeling at home on the water, finds it weird that the sailors are so silent, he's used to the shouting of both the Captain and the First Mate as ships take sail. Either this is an unusually competent crew or they have some sort of silent communications similar to the rings their own group has.
He finds the Captain, "Sir, Name's Zane Stormfront, if you need any assistance, just let me know. I haven't done much sailing up here in the North, but I've spent years at sea in the Southern Oceans."
Unless the Captain says something immediately, Zane moves away and stays out of the way as best as possible.
Over the link, "Don't try and help unless asked, but if there is an attack, well, you can figure that out for yourself. Just stay alert and ready."

Beri watches as Restlin pulls out a handful of items for this quest and can't help but notice that Wardd seems to be watching out for his follower. Hopefully it's a sign that Wardd will be watching out for them, and not that it's going to be so rough that Wardd felt the need to stack the deck to avoid the fun ending too quickly. He chooses to trust it's the former.

Greetings Captain, thank you for having us aboard your ship.
Beri keeps the niceties short and follows the others quickly out of view from prying eyes..

Bosk AC: Hasted (34/17/29) CMD: 34 159 hp /132 (27 are temp) Spells

The Horned cleric makes a quick stop by the Catacombs to finish up his preparations, as well as a trip to the Red Wyrm Inn and other major landmarks just to say he was there. He even stops by a few local spots to try and acquire a few local recipes, beer and spirits.

As they prepare to head out Bosk thanks the High Lord Mayor and Father Eorcenbald for their help. Please keep the details of our mission a secret for now, but let the people know we have preparations to make. Have food sent up to our rooms and act as if e are still here. I have not doubt that our enemy has eyes around town, and with any luck we can mislead them. Your help has been much appreciated.

Sesha watches Restlin curiously.

"Luck quest? What's that?"

It seemed a little strange, leaving perfectly good advantages behind and heading out to see what happens.
