[DM Hugh] - Rocks on Rocks on Rocks d4=2 ; Wednesday March 1st, 2017 2:36:03 AM
(OOC: Bosk moved the other prisoners so the last map wasn't really that accurate; also I fell asleep again :( )
Restlin is secretly glad the half-elf killed himself and his companions figuring he could let other members of the party debate morality. He then channels some positive energy before asking if anyone wants to listen to the dragon-kin tell them he's not going to tell them anything except that the Iron Dragons are going to die.
Garret chuckles at Restlin's comment after dodging the cone of cold and then lands and starts to look for a path or signs of habitations or structures.
Beri keeps hovering as an elemental.
Sesha feels Restlin's pleasure through the link and relays her own confusion through the coven bond. The sisters start fussing over Tink and Restlin. One of the sister's asks Restlin how he got beat up so bad and if he's the weakest link. Another one asks Tink about her smooth skin and if it is to keep her tiny wrinkles from showing up. Sesha has a brief moment of melancholy thinking about what it would be like to know the girls when they were alive and wonders if they are happy at least. She then goes to Beri and puts the fleshbound ragdoll in front of Beri asking him to point out where the half-elf touched him before healing the druid.
Restlin ponders Sesha's confusion before clarifying that he was glad everyone was ok. He then mistakes the skin comment to be directed at him and answers it is because he uses Lavender bath oil and is just 20 years old.
Bosk comments that he doesn't expect to learn anything from the dragon-kin but if they are going to interrogate it they should make it quick.
Tink avoids the icy blast and then finds herself neck deep in ghostly clerics. Opining that they either wake up the prisoner or finish him off because they can't take a prisoner with them.
Zane keeps an eye out for anything and says, "It's better to put him out of his misery if you don't wake him up. Questioning him then killing him, would only prolong it. But as has been said, the last bunch refused to speak, and the longer we wait, the readier they'll be for us."
Sesha then makes a decision for the others and uses save/slay on the remaining dragon-kin gaining 20 temporary hp.
Zane finds the following on their dead assailants: 7 large masterwork glaives, a gold chain with 1 large gold sphere, 2 slightly smaller gold spheres, 2 more slightly smaller gold spheres and 4 more gold spheres smaller than all the others (Spellcraft DC 25 Highlight to display spoiler: {necklace of fireballs type VI }) a rusty and pitted looking gauntlet (Spellcraft DC 22 Highlight to display spoiler: { gauntlet of rust } ) 24 scrolls (Spellcraft DC 31 Highlight to display spoiler: {greater dispel magic, arcane CL 11 } ) 4 strange bubbling elixirs (Spellcraft: 26 Highlight to display spoiler: { elixir of fire breath } ) 600 platinum pieces, 400 gold pieces and 50 silver pieces
Garret scans the horizon and notices a large rock that literally sticks out to him and looks as if it once belonged to the mainland, but sheared off and now stands like a large dagger a couple hundred feet off shore.

Bosk AC: Hasted (34/17/29) CMD: 34 145 hp /132 (27+18 are temp) Spells Wednesday March 1st, 2017 10:34:20 PM
Bosk's mind spins as he ponders the enemies strange assortment of items and what it could mean tactically before he looks them over pondering if anything would be of use to him. Turning to Sesha he points out, Be careful with that necklace. You probably already know this, but it can be nasty if they hit you with a fireball first.
I have room in my bag of holding to store anything not being used immediately. I would like a few of those scrolls (4), but other than that I think others can make better use of them.
The outer edge of the taurs lips rise slightly as Sesha puts and end to the captive. Turning to the others his voice turns cold and icy, Just so there is no misunderstanding, this mission is personal to me. I have sworn vengeance upon the lich responsible for my parent's demise. She is an undead abomination and I will not suffer her to live, and I would see her destroyed even if all the souls of the Wold were not at stake.
Furthermore, we have given her followers ample chance to repent. I can count on one hand with fingers to spare the number of times I have declared someone a target of wrath. Here and now I declare Vivian Taurbane and all who follow or serve her or the Death Dragon Cult marked for Jancassis Justice. In the names of Jancassis and Gargul I swear, from now until my vengeance is satisfied, I see a Death Dragon and I will kill it. As he says this he cuts the head off one of the slain and holds it in the air, using it as the focus for his nemesis insight spell.
[DM Hugh] - Rocks on Rocks on Rocks Wednesday March 1st, 2017 11:54:09 PM Garret points out the rock and asks his companions what it is.
Beri returns to human form accepting the healing from Sesha and her sisters and then adds some of his own healing.
Restlin identifies all the magic items and then takes 6 of the greater dispel magic scrolls and 1 of the elixirs of fire breathe. He then directs Tink to fly by the rock formation offshore.
Sesha notes the stack of dispel scrolls and notes the oddness of them carrying that much. She takes charge of the necklace of fireballs and the rest of the elixirs in case she has to blow something up.
Zane takes the gauntlet and 3 of the scrolls.
Bosk's mind reels as he tries to fathom what the odd assortment of gear means. He warns Sesha of the necklace of fire balls, takes 4 scrolls and then swears that any member of the Death Dragon Cult and follower of Vivian Taurbane is subject to the vengeance of Gargul and Jancassis decapitating a one of the dragon-kin's head and using it as a focus for nemesis insight
Tink suggests that they may have been expected. She has a gut feeling that something is off and then takes 4 of the dispel magic scrolls before flying to scout out the off shore rock.
Bosk and Zane stow the rest of the gear.
As Tink closes distance to the offshore rock the first thing she notices is that there doesn't appear to be any good spot to land. Upon further examination she begins to notice a few odd things. The first thing she notices is Tink Highlight to display spoiler: { that there are moderate auras of divination and illusion emanating from a spot near the bottom of the outcropping almost near water level. } The next thing she notices is Tink Highlight to display spoiler: {that there is a scrying sensor tied to the the same area of the outcropping.}

Sesha watches Bosks grim statement of vengeance and intent to kill. She wasn't really opposed to the idea, but something bothered her about the macabre declaration.
"Jancassis."
The statement alone bothered her. She had never realized it before, but the closer she got to Serenbeth the more malice she bared towards the only surviving sister among the godly siblings. She tries to keep her doubts off the covens emotional link, but realizing how unlikely it is, she just blurts her concerns.
"Bosk. I support your vengeance, and will give the final rest without hesitation to any enemy we encounter moving forwards. However, sometimes it's worrisome to me how diametrically opposed we are. You serve Jancassis, Gargul, and uphold the belief in the sanctity of Woldsblood. I serve a dead goddess betrayed by the former, and use Woldsblood as a tool to the ire of the latter."
Her gaze is cool and neutral as she looks up at Bosk, nearly four feet shorter than he is. She sdjusts her black eyepatch, then looks away.
"I just hope the day doesn't come where we find ourselves unable to serve as allies. Our bonds through the coven and the consortium will make us unable to hide those feelings. Everything will be exposed and raw. I pray it can be avoided through understanding, somehow."

Bosk puts the severed head down. An Avenger has perfect control over his emotions, and when I have my revenge I will be the pinnacle of Avengers. My last obstacle is the grievance over my parent's murder which gnaws at me like a cancer. This is a vengeance I swore long ago, not some hastily sworn oath in the heat of the moment...well, not in this moment. When this is settled all of my emotions will be fully and perfectly under my control.
My life is one of balance. My agreement with Jancassis is that my role as an Avenger is limited to those involving the quais-dead. The Demon Grendel, an Umbral Dragon, and a lich...and those that serve and follow them. In each case the fate of the Wold hung in the balance. But I do not just judge them, I am a servant and paladin of the undead, helping them to find peace and justice when all others have forgotten them or are beyond their reach. Ironically, Serenbeth falls squarely in the realm of those I serve.
As for us, Gargul did not smite you at our last meeting and neither shall I. So long as the gods are not condemning you, I will not interfere. Actually, I think this bond will make things easier between us. We might philosophically disagree, but with such control over my emotions you cannot hurt me...and being able to sense my feelings you will know there is no hate, anger or malice on my end. I simply did not want to see you angering a god, and I am no longer as worried about that after our past meetings.

Sesha watches Bosk's statement and then says she supports his vengeance quest and then says she hopes the day never happens where the two find each other at odds.
Restlin walks between Bosk and Sesha, gives Sesha a hug and then suggests seeing what Tink found.
Tink points out the scrying sensor lays out some option and then suggests to just proceed.
Bosk explains the fact that taking his revenge on his parent's killer he will be a perfect avenger fully in control of his emotions, he explains how the scope of his vengeance is limited and how he actually serves the dead like Serenbeth. Lastly he points out how he now longer has concern that Gargul will smite Sesha after their last meeting. Garret flies over to the landing zone after Bosk, squinting to find it.

Bosk gets a clue as to the entrance in question once Faith is dispatched.
Tink explains about the strong aura of conjuration and the key hole. She suggests it could be trapped in case someone tries to pick it and suggests plugging the key hole and then bashing the door unless Restlin is feeling particularly lucky.
After a brief interval Faith pops back out from behind the rock door, "Matron, I'm ready to report what I saw. The door is locked and that strong aura of conjuration is coming from one of the tumblers. As for what is behind the door well it is very strange. It appears to be a labyrinth of passageways. [DM Hugh] - The Mystic Portal Awaits Monday March 6th, 2017 11:57:00 PM Tink says she can use acid dart on the hinges or pick the lock from a distance. She then suggests everyone spread out.
Garret thinks about a ghost getting lost in the labyrinth.
Beri joins the other and says that picking the lock from 30 feet is a useful skill.
Sesha smiles at Faith, thanking her for the great job. She suggests letting Tink deal with the door and gets back with her ghost.
Restlin agrees with having Tink pick the lock and then sets up shop away from everyone else 30 feet back.
Tink asks Restlin for his touch of luck blessing and the mage-priest obliges by flying over to her at eye level and tapping her on the nose saying "boop." Tink then uses her ranged legermain ability to pick the lock from a distance.
Zane remains near, ready to intercept if needed.
Bosk listens to the plan agreeing with it. He suggests everyone should take a step back and that Beri should keep his spell ready just in case.
Tink starts her work grabbing her thieves tools and poking around at the air. Her magical energies travel down her fingers and into the tools. Warrd smiles on the Justicar and after a brief moment she is rewarded with a satisfying schlik as the tumblers slide into place unlocking the door. This is shortly followed by the scraping sounds of stone dragging on stone as the door slowly swings outward. It would appear that Tink has managed to successfully open the door without damaging the trapped tumbler and triggering the spell placed on it.
The open door beckons the Iron Dragons to enter. Who will be first through the entrance to the maze and how will they confront the puzzle it presents?

Beri waits for an explosion of fire to come roaring out of the entrance, or perhaps a volley of arrows. At the very least to hear a deafening siren and for an armed guard unit to come running out... but nothing happens. And nothing continues to happen. Nothing happens for so long that he starts to think that this is what is expected to happen, that they did something right and Wardd has rewarded their luck with the comforting safety of nothing. I'm not sure if it's Tink's skills, Restlin's luck, or a combination of the two, but it appears you have done it! I assume it's best if the girls scout ahead first, but we may be able to get a better idea of which direction to scout once we get inside.

"Scouting ahead in a maze seems like a real bad idea," he says to Tink. "I think we should stick together, keeping the tougher among us at the front and rear."
"You two start exploring. See what you can find taking direct routes east and west through the walls. Stay in touch with Pot-pot if you get out of earshot." (Friendly reminder to DM that Spirit Familiars have telepathy with other spirits.)
Then she nods to Myrth.
"You stick with Tink upfront, your at her disposal while we still have you. Go ahead and channel before you go."
"Sure thing!". With a wink at the gathered group, Myrth channels twice, pulsing her healing powers into the group. When done, she floats up near Tink and grins. "I've got Resist Energy and Lesser Restoration on hand, if you need them. I can still heal a little too. Ready when you are."
She points at her last two ghosts.
"You two stay with us, moving mostly in the floor."

Tink decides it may be wise to heed Restlin's advice. She stays up the front of the group, but within 5 or 10 feet of the person behind her. She most certainly doesn't want to get lost.
She's still a little unsure about the ghostly helpers of Sesha's, and flashes a polite yet uncomfortable smile to Myrth "Witches are just spooky" she decides.
"Unless anyone has a better plan, I'm going to place an invisible arcane mark to the left hand side of any passage we go down. That should help us from getting lost, or finding a way back out if necessary"
Tink will be hovering 5ft off the ground and running her hand along the wall to her left, just to ensure it is real "Keep in mind this area was protected with an illusion" she reminds the group.

Bosk grips his sword. My preference is second from the front. With my height and reach I can attack over one of your heads and we can take down an opponent in half the time.
As for how to proceed, I have find the path prepared, but I am not sure how I can use that.
[DM Hugh] - A Labyrinthine Puzzle Wednesday March 8th, 2017 1:37:31 AM Tink says she wasn't worried and then asks if she should be the one to scout or if they should use the ghosts.
Garret claps for Tink as the door opens and then takes 1 last look around before heading inside.
Beri waits for some sort of reaction from the trapped door but after nothing happens he realizes that nothing was supposed to happen and congratulates Tink and Restlin. He opines over the link that it is best to have the girls scout but they might get a better idea as to the layout once they are inside.
Restlin says scouting ahead is probably a bad idea and advocates keeping the group together with the tougher members at the front and rear.
Sesha has Hope and Faith go east and west, Myrth scout ahead with Tink instructing her to channel before she goes. She directs her remaining ghosts to stay with the group moving mostly in the floor.
Zane asks the other "meat shields" if he should be in the front or back.
Tink decides to head Restlin's advice she leads the way but stays close-ish to the rest of the group. She flashes a friendly yet uncomfortable smile and figures that witches are spooky. She says she is going to use an invisible arcane mark to keep track of any passages they go down on the left hand side. She hovers above the ground with her hand on the wall while reminding the others how the landing zone was protected with an illusion.
Bosk grips his sword and says he will be second from the front. He also volunteers he has find the path prepared.
The group starts making their way through the maze. Tink and Myrth take the lead with Bosk behind them. Garret, Sesha, Restlin, Beri, Joy and Celeste follow with Zane taking up the rear. Hope and Faith are sent east and west respectively through the walls. Potpot is used as a communications relay between the 2 scouts so they don't lose communications.
The construction of the underground looks like something out of Escher with passages going in a myriad of directions some of which seemingly defies the laws of physics with its non-euclidean geometry. Those whose sight is enhanced with magic notice that Highlight to display spoiler: { The maze radiates a variety of magical auras some of which are exotic and hard to place.}
Ability to detect magical auras + DC 30 Knowledge [engineering] : Highlight to display spoiler: { , the strength and complexity of the auras make you realize the only explanation for the maze is that it was created through the use of Teucri technology. }
You start to make your way down the left hand passageway at the beginning of the maze with Tink's strategy of placing an arcane mark on the wall and start to notice that something is off. Faith's thoughts enter the group channel via Sesha thanks to the Potpot relay, "Mistress, the passageways seem a little different than when I popped in to check what this place was. It's almost as if the outpost itself is subject to a continual random creation"
You double check Faith's observation by trying to retrace your steps but you lose track of the arcane marks and you find that even the makeup of the passageway has changed. You started down a stone work passage but when you retrace your steps you find a bricked floor and walls with a timbered ceiling.
With this revelation a thought crosses Tink's mind that there is a glaring flaw in her arcane marking plan. The problem is the maze is changing as they move down the passageways. How would she account for that problem?

Garret pipes up, "Well, if it is changing, there's no point in going backwards, so maybe we should just continue forwards until we get where it apparently wants us to go."
Beriothian -- AC:32/17/30 HP: 170/190 CMD = 22 Wednesday March 8th, 2017 11:06:04 AM Glad we have these rings to communicate. The first question is do we see eachothers marks? If our paths are overlapping on this moving maze our first goal should be to regroup if possible, separate paths won't make a difference.
I do have one idea, I can change forms into something with scent ability. The walls may change, but I can guide us closer and closer, and as the walls move the scent will get stronger or weaker based on how far you are from us. It's possible scent could also lead us out, perhaps the air doesn't smell so foul down there.

The Status effect of the DC rings will let us know where each other is at all times. Well, with the exception of Sesha and myself. Mindblank is a powerful spell"
Tink observes the area closely. Is there any chance of the party getting squashed between two walls?

Bosk looks to see if there are regular branched in the path or if it is mainly a straight forward path. If need be I can cast word of recall to return us home, but moving forward is the key here.
