Scene 5 - Hairshirt

The party locates a hiding place that will be perhaps a 15 min walk to where they believe Hairshirt resides. Plans are discussed.

Murphy offers the goblins more gold if they will keep watch outside the party’s hiding place, and gather information in the giant’s camp. Then he discretely gives Knucklehead a pre-written love letter for him to use later. Predictably, Knucklehead opens it. “Love letter, eh? Lemme see. What ’undying’ mean - izzat undead? Why goblin love be like a rose? You gots NO mention of smootches or babies or dirt baths or nuthin? Thanks for tryin, but you gots lots to learn about lovin. An I don’t haves time to teach you now.” He gives Murphy his letter back.

Bliss and Mookie have fun with the Silver Raven, and have it do a trick. Then Bliss summons his sleeping cauldron.

Kezem thinks Knucklehead would be a good dad. Knucklehead agrees because he’d make strong goblin babies. As for rearing, you learn that goblin babies are raised together in pens. Food is tossed in, and the strongest have to fight to survive. Knucklehead was told he was a very strong baby.

Alleah, Shel and Pressi discuss the watch schedule. Shel is worried the giants will be on alert now. Pressi shows great sensitivity to Alleah’s feelings, concerned that crushing Knucklehead heart may have been hard for her.

The goblins agree that for some gold they will sleep outside this cave, and see what info they can gather.

The goblins become a bit of a problem, walking in and out of the illusion of a wall, delivering each bit of information through the night, seemingly as it is learned. They report the following:

- There have been demons spotted in camp.
- Different giants have been to visit Hairshirt. No details were available.
- No one has seen any invisible flying goblins.
- Dolp’s mutilated body has been seen by some.
- Dolp was made into a zombie.
- Someone saw a flying ogre.
- Hairshirt is now in charge, and stone giants have had to enforce his rule.
- Dolp was eaten by Hairshirt and some stone giants.
- The giants there seem to be willing to follow Hairshirt.
- The orcs and goblins still hate the giants.

Morning has broken. Once Murphy sees to a nice breakfast, all are ready to go.

Posted yesterday but apparently it was eaten.

Sky watches bliss an mookie play with the raven, he casually picks the enlarging mushroom if no one disapproves. Sky and Meko then lay down and get much needed rest together, after dinner of course.

Goblin babies...... Ewwww Sky's dreams are plauged with puke yellow and green monsters with sharp teeth and snot running down their faces. 5 of them scampering about the town, gnawing on halflings legs and pants.

With dawn breaking and breakfast on its way. Sky is ready to go giant hunting.

Maybe the zombie Dolp will be a better challenge this time around, stupid giants in life, maybe at least half wits in death ey?

Pressi smirked as Knuckle handed Murphy his love letter back. "Don't worry. We the brain trust are working on him, and are at least somewhat pleased at his progress thus far."

Her humor kind of fled as she shared with Murphy her thoughts on the rolls of human skin she was still inexplicably carrying, and on her thoughts of the drawings. "It may just be coincidence, but a drawing of a wolf next to a naked lady? After a vision of two wolves fighting to destroy the forest from a no longer dead priestess. Near rolls of human skin that were clearly meant to be delivered to a necromancer. You'll forgive me if I take some of these undead rumors more seriously than others. Killing one giant first may have been a mistake, but I don't even know how."

She also shuddered at Skye's cocky statements. Putting on a show of confidence for the goblins that might join them in revolt was one thing. Forgetting the difficulties they had killing Dolp without anyone falling themselves - that was quite another. She regretted downing that last Cure Serious potion - but if she hadn't, the giant mistresses would surely have attacked her.

Come the morning, Bliss is ready to try the same thing again with a new set of giants.

The two bits of news that definitely do make his ears prick up, though, are these: “Uthvas” and Zombie Dolp.

"It's that jerky caster fellow who killed Murphy!" he says. "Anybody have a See Invisibility? Or can your Wolfie smell out an invisible fellow, Mister Sky? Or can we Faerie Fire him!"

Shel also felt better in the morning. Much stronger, and her magic reservoir felt full. Good thing as he group would no doubt need it today. She waited to see if Bliss or Murphy decided to do any scouting. When the group was prepared, she fell in line and headed with them toward Hairshirt.

As the most recent news report has been given, Murphy opines, "Ah, rumors. A tossed salad of mixed truth, lies, fears, speculation, fancy. There may be an element of Uthvas there, or just echoes of him. No invisible flying goblins sighted? Surprise! No, not really." He thanks all their local friends for their diligence in reporting.

He enjoys Bliss's enjoyment of his new messenger bird. He thanks Kezzem for payroll distribution assistance. He laughs at Knucklehead's takedown of Murphy's own lack of luster in the loveletter writing business - though to be fair, someone else wrote it - and laughs at Pressi's response to the goblin. In the end, he feels rather sheepish that he would even attempt to encourage the goblin at the expense of his friend Alleah. Later he apologizes to her - in particular after Pressi handles things properly on her account.

He is happy that Sky takes the mushroom, and lets Pressi have both the stage dagger and the hammer. "I thought to use the hammer to really shut the ladies' door back there, but couldn't pull it out of my stoney body," he tells her. "You need some spikes to hammer with it? Because I'm fresh out. Unless you'd like a bag of caltrops to go with it."

He offers also to whomever so desires to take any of the following items they think they might be able to use as we face the giants, and he can't use them shapechanged:
Alchemical
Acid - Alchemist's Fire - Antitoxin vial - Smokestick - Sunrod - Thunderstone
Other - Chalk - Fishing net

Murphy is most sad to learn that the skins were such as he thought - though he was not certain what race they might be until Pressi told him. "I'm not sure just what to think about the vision you speak of. There is a certain necromancer who deserves to be sent to Marteaus, however. I doubt that Gargul will have his carcass."

To help his friends put the demons issue to rest, the druid tells the goblins, "Do not think that it was demons who killed Dolp. It was halflings, and our friends - none of them demonic. Just people, who have decided that those who eat halflings and other intelligent creatures themselves have earned death."

Regarding scouting, Murphy says, in halfling (then in Sylvan for Bliss), "First, we need to get closer to Dolp's cave. There are a whole series of caves between here and his cave. Let's find one that is unoccupied closer, and most of you can wait there. Second, once that far along, if someone can cast a message spell upon me and Bliss, and if Shel can render me invisible, then he and I can scout on ahead by a few minutes, and see what we can see, then report back. I will shape change to an air elemental, I think, unless someone has a better suggestion. I do not think it wise for us to try to penetrate too deeply, but if we can at least determine the outer defenses, then that might be enough to get started."

For the goblins, with the party's consent, he offers each ten silver pieces and five gold pieces for their diligent work at bringing information back to the party over the whole night. "I know it's morning time, and many of you will be feeling sleepy. If you can help get us closer to the cave, and do the excellent job you have done so far, then, after we get done with our business, we will make sure that additional coinage is given to you later. Sound good to you? There is a condition, however. From what we give you, each will take a similar amount, and not fight among yourselves about that. Do you agree? IF you agree, then we will do that for you."

Many rumors from the night are given to the group, with them having the hard work of sorting through and figuring what is true and what is not.

Sky had nightmares of goblin babies.. maybe more so then even Alleah. He is the first one to speak up about a potential zombie Dolp. Perhaps in undeath he picked up a few more braincells.

Kezzem asks about the flying ogre. Wanting to see the behemoth flap his arms and try to fly.

Pressi is grossed out at the thoughts of the rolls of human skin. The thought that it has something to do with the necromancer also nags at her. She isn't as optimistic of taking on Dolp again, especially as an undead, without the worry she will lose an ally.

Bliss is ready to go in the morning but does being up the fact of seeing invisibility being needed. There was that pesky nuisance last time.

To which Alleah assures she can, and also has a wand of faerie fire to help. She though, doesn't take any heed into the runors from the goblins.

Shel took stock of her spells and felt comfortable about being fully stocked with healing. She knew they would need it. She also assumed Murphy and Bliss would want to scout.

The goblins take the money from Murphy but their hands stay out... " More.. " Knucklehead says. " If I aint get my love, I want my money."

Murphy also lays out a plan of scouting.. for Dolps cave. ( Does he want to go back and check the rumors of Zombie Dolp or was that a typo for Hairshirt?)

Shel agrees to make Murphy invisible when the group got close enough for maximum effectiveness. She noticed the rest of the group was being even quieter than normal...but she understood,as the nerves were getting the best of her too. She trudged along quietly, hoping the group could continue through the terrain without getting spotted.

Murphy, in talking with his friends in halfling/sylvan, corrects himself. "Did I say Dolp's cave? I meant the Shirt's cave."

He comments to Kezzem that he hopes they will not be facing another of the taxinecromancer's critters.

"You are expensive allies," Murphy tells the goblins. "But here is 30 more silver each - you did a good job overnight. Also, there is a thing called waiting for the big payoff," he explains. "Help us get to a cave much closer to Hairshirt's, and there's 3 more gold each. Wait for us, and help us get out of the valley afterwards, and there's another 15 more gold each. But, instead of 15 more gold - if ALL of you help us escape, instead of 15, we will pay you 20 gp each. So, all seven of you help, then all seven get, not 15 - but 20. If that is not fair, I do not know what is."

He counts the 35 gold and puts it in one pouch, holds it up and says, "For when you get us closer." He counts the 175 gold, and puts it in a bag. "For when you help us leave here. This is promised payment, so long as you do your part. Thank you for the good work you have done so far. I know you left the Bottoms to find prosperity, but have not done so until now. And we hope the payment we have given and will give you help you prosper. Let us remain allies." He is hopeful to discourage desertions, or being sold out - though he reckons such is not impossible. "Remember - we are trying to help free you from the oppression of the giants."

Coin count for goblins: (earlier stuff paid by Murphy & others not listed here - this is just from giants' lair, passed on - will add prior payments later) 250 sp(get info); 42gp(cross valley)+35gp(get info)+21gp(at next cave)=98gp. 175gp held in abeyance. Will have to get additional 35gp if the goblins help them get all the way out.

He also adds in halfling, "If any of my companions feel I am being to free with undivided treasure, let me know, and I will take from my own funds instead."

Dolp's belt of giant strength +2 - if Murphy understands correctly, that was placed in Pressi's bag. If no one is using it at present, he asks if he might wear it for the next assault. Yet, if someone makes a case it would be better used by someone else, he is fine with that.

As there are rumors of demons about, Murphy offers, in addition to the alchemical items he offered (in prior post), he adds one vial of holy water to... Shel, if she wants it. He thanks her for being willing to cast invisibility upon him - and asks her to wait until he lets her know he is ready.

"How about the rest of you, friends? Any counsel, ideas?"

He is ready to move more closely to Hairshirt's cave, if all seems well with friends and goblin allies.

Bliss is a little bit worried that without the Stealth Elixers, the party will be less sneaky this time. Well, nothing much to be done about that.

He is ready to head for a closer cave, then to the enemy HQ.

"I'm just going to throw this out there once more, but do you think this time we could stick together? The more we spread ourselves out the weaker we are. Let's work together, find choke points, and focus on one giant at a time. Spreading ourselves thin just leaves it open for one of us to get squashed" Alleah is hopeful that Bliss and Murphy can see some logic to her thinking.

Kezzem cracks a joke about he not so smart Dolp and if he is now a zombie would be even less smart.

She is in agreement of casting invisibility on murphy when closer to the cave.

Murphy splits some coinage for the goblins. The little creatures yellow eyes take on a shiny gleam as they all reach for the bag. "Wait... the we are close enough to the cave. How much closer do you want us to get. Should we just kill Hairshit for you too..."

"Woh.. if they want us to bring them to the cave we will. That's a lot of gold. I don't have that many toes to count."

"Fine.. where do you want us to get you to. The opening of the cave?"

Bliss is worried about being less stealthy. Well for everyrone else since he is almost impossible to see sometimes.

Alleah again pleads the group stays together. The splitting up was bad.

The goblins lead the group out into the camp and the changes are obvious. The stone giants walk around with their chests puffed out, and with a sense of suppiriority. Some of the hill giants have thrown in with the stone giants, while some are more stand offish. The ogres and orcs all see which side to head too. An occasional stone giant will smash a goblin, or beat on an orc and nothing is done.

The goblin guides have a bit of uneasiness to them. Some looking over their shoulders, and peeking out at the camp. The group hears an occasional whisper of it being a bad idea for them to guide the group, but as of now they don't break rank. When they get around 100 yards from the cave they stop and turn to the halflings...

"this is far enough... we'll be at the cave you slept in and wait for you. The stone giants are being big bosses now. "

Just before the group heads out of the home cave, Bliss has a little prep to do. He uses his wand of Mage Armor on himself, Mookie, Pressi, Shel, Murphy, and Sky's Tiger. "Anyone else?"

He casts Message several times to connect himself and everyone in the group. He casts Reduce Person on Mookie.

He looks around at the group.
- Bliss can cast Alter Self, and is good at hiding anyway.
- Alleah can cast Disguise Self
- Pressi has a hat of disguise
- Shel can cast Invisibility on herself
- Murphy can be wildshaped
- Sky has no way to be disguised
- Kezzem has no way to be disguised

Bliss gives Sky his Hat of Disguise! - so he can be a goblin.

He asks SA to be ready to cast Invisibility on herself and on Kezzem.

Mookie turns on his silver raven and asks Bliss to tap her with the wand too.

Then the party sets out.

Bliss giggles when Kezzem asks what the plan is ... 300 feet from the cave!

"It's easy!" he says. "Alleah will be disguised with Disguise Self (goblin) or Alter Self (goblin or orc). I will be disguised with Alter Self (orc). Sky will be disguised as a goblin with my hat. Pressi will be disguised as a goblin or orc with her own hat. Murphy will be wildshaped as a wolf or something. Shel and Kezzem will be invisible. Then we walk right in and demand to see Hairshirt. We say we have secret info about who killed Dolp and he'll want to know and we're only telling him. Somebody who's a good fast talker can be the spokesperson. If we are lucky, we get to meet the fellow, kill him, and escape."

"It's the escape part that's got me worried," says Mookie.

Bliss, meanwhile, is busy casting.

He renews Mookie's Reduce Person.
He casts Alter Self to become an orc. Ley check 14 = A-OK.
He casts See Invisibility. Ley Check 18 = A-OK.
He casts Cat's Grace. Ley Check 75 = A-OK.

"Come on everybody, let's go!"

[Welcome back, Dm Shawn!]

Murphy STOPS Bliss from going through the whole prep procedure in their overnight cave. "There's a closer cave we can do that." [I wrote the following apparently as Bliss was posting, but before I saw his post]

"The camp is about 500 yards from side to side, there are smaller caves on the sides but each side has one main cave." -Dm Shawn, Monday December 12th, 2016

Murphy had gone yesterday into the first two caves in Hairshirt's complex, explored and popped into other cave openings nearby Hairshirt's cave - in the direction the party is coming from, as he was moving generally back toward the party. That is why, based upon prior information given, Murphy is aware of smaller caves closer to Hairshirt's cave, and he recommends popping into one - smallish relative to Hairshirt's as it may be. He also went into the first two rooms of Hairshirt's complex - the entrance, and a kitchen-like area beyond, with a door behind which were barking dogs. Murphy had sketched a map of this for the party [See Murphy's post, Tuesday December 13th, 2016 1:46:52 AM]. Were it possible for our kindly DM to post a map of the first two rooms (without occupants, perhaps for the moment, until we get there?), that would be helpful.


Perhaps [x number of yards - 50? 100? 125?] from Hairshirt's, Murphy counsels the party as follows: "Look, all, behind that rock is a small cave. Let's go inside, I will pay what we promised to get us this far, and then, yes, my goblin friends, waiting for us at the cave we stayed in overnight would be a good place to meet up again." Inside, he hands to Bizig - the goblin whom they first met, the pouch of 21 gold. "That's three gold pieces each for you for getting us this far. You are very brave, and honorable. Bizig, Gutplug, Knockhead, Scabby, Socket, Bungleak, and [whatever is the name of the seventh goblin] - We'll see you all in a little while, I trust. Wish us well."

After the goblins depart, Murphy quickly lays out a few things with his friends.

"Kezzem - that flying ogre is likely an ogre mage. I know a half ogre mage, and our group took out two others - Idafeatu and Noyudint. Anyhow - ogre mages can fly, and use magic - they can be tough foes. And they regenerate. And go into gaseous form. Hope we don't see one inside. If so, though - fire and acid are good to use against them. And faerie fire - they go invisible sometimes, but, if they're faerie fired - you can still see them, invisible or gaseous."

"Ah, Bliss, I had forgotten you were benefiting from the elixers. I thought you were just naturally super sneaky all on your own. Yes, well, that does change things somewhat. If I go take a peek as a quiet, invisible air elemental, with a message spell from someone - Alleah? - I can let you know what I see - maybe come out and whisper, and the rest of you can come along with a bit of a plan at that point. Either that, or we walk up boldly and say, 'We have this letter for Mister Hairshirt from Gurthax, and we're supposed to deliver it to him,' and we walk in with the letter from, well, Gurthax. Hairshirt receives us, and thanks us, and invites us to tea. Then, after tea, we all fight."

"Alleah - you have a wand of faerie fire? Nice! I prayed for a faerie fire spell this morning. Would have been handy against Castor the spell-casting goblin." Concerning Alleah's desire that we stick together, Murphy says, "That's sometimes - likely more often than not - a good plan, 'Leah. I was able to take out several wolves and orcs, and between Bliss and me, we managed to keep a few giants pretty busy, and ... well, no promise, but I'll try. But sometimes it helps to have someone doing some scouting ahead."

"So, 'Leah, can you offer me a message spell in a moment, after we've agreed to a plan? Bliss - can I have mage armor? Then, Shel, you can cast invisibility on me - but wait until I say so. Then I'll change to an air elemental, scout ahead for a minute or two, then we can all come in with a plan. Pressi - how about I give you this letter," and he hands her the letter from Gurthax to Hairshirt. "You can do your orc thing, and tell whoever is at the entrance that you have a letter you are to deliver directly to Hairshirt. That should buy us at least a moment - we either take out those at the entrance, or continue past them in to where Hairshirt is - maybe walk through the door in the kitchen, and close it behind us, and Shel casts silence on the door area, so that the kitchen can't hear the sound of all the fighting inside. How does that sound?"

Murphy adds, "This is potentially a much harder task we have ahead of us than we faced yesterday. Stone giants are smarter than hill giants - and now they know that someone took out the head of their allies, so may be better prepared."

After he gets done talking, Murphy casts longstrider on himself, then casts know direction, so he knows which way is north. (I think that Hairshirt's cave is on the north side of the valley, but please correct me if I'm mistaken.)

"Actually, I was rather concerned that we might need a bit smarter plan," Pressi fretted. "These guys seem pretty stupid and egotistical, but surely even they are capable of learning from... Oh Domi, I can't even say it with a straight face."

"So anyone else wanting to try their luck in lying their way through? Kezzem, want to show us what that maxxed bluff can do?"

Pressi hands Murphy the belt of strength (I think anyone else who normally uses it has something), and helps herself to an alchemists fire, the fishing net, and a thunderstone. Without any cure potions left, her bandolier begins to look a bit vial heavy. She shifts back to orc form, taking some steps to make herself look closer to the orc concubine. "I figure having a relative of a survivor might give us a leg up," she explained as she placed around her neck and in her ears some of the more recognizable jewels from the Dolp cave.

She of course accepts any buffs that come her way.

Shel proposes casting Protection from Evil on Kezzem and Pressi. "It'll help make you harder to hit, and it might help against any mind control one of those ogre mages might try to use against you. It should last for about 8 minutes." She agrees to cast ainvisibility on Murphy.

Finally she plans on casting Fly, Mirror Image and Shield on herself.

Sky accepts the hat of disguise, and shifts form to a goblin, resembling knucklehead,

how bout them babies Alleah he chuckles, and casts long strider on himself as well.

I think the letter, and saying we have info for hairshirt on who killed Dolp is a grand idea to get us through to an audience with him.

Alleah furrows her brow as she listens to Murphy "Scouting is one thing, but once the fight starts we should work as a group. Going off scouting in the middle of combat leaves you open to being surrounded and killed. That was a pretty nasty cut you took in the last fight. The druid casts bear's endurance on Pressi just before going invisible and wild shaping into an air elemental before heading off to do a quick scout of the cave entrance, and possibly kitchen area beyond.

To Murphy, "Look, I am the last person to advise against rushing in against the bad guy. Course, I don't have a lot of options if I just stand in the back. Bliss runs through the guantlet of buffs and makes sure everyone has something. He is ready to go, and has to be calmed down before heading in.

Murphy talks over the plan and also does his best to add some more buffs that he doesn't have already.

Pressi hands over the belt to Murphy, all the time wanting a better plan even if the giants are stupid.

Air Elemental Murphy make his way to the cave entrance, and it appears that much hasn't changed from yesterday. Two Ogre guards are sitting in chairs with their feet up on rocks. Snores come from their noses and mouths, as he dream of something else... Between them the pig is still on the spit roasting... its skin crackling and dripping juices on the open fire that end in a sizzle. the door to the kitchen is closed this time.

After slipping out the cave, getting ~25 feet above the top of the cave entrance, looking quickly to ensure no one else is up there, Murphy whispers to Bliss via the message spell, "Let the four quietest ones come, coup de grâce two slumbering ogres in their chairs. The others come in right after. Door to kitchen is closed. Pig on the spit roasting. Come now." His vision scans left to right, looking out from his heightened vantage point, seeing if any others appear to be approaching the cave from near or far at the moment.

Pressi, outside the cave, considers and talks out her options. (Protect doesn't stack with rings or cloaks. Pressi thinks that the summoned demons are fake, since they supposedly did what we did. So it's a +1 to AC and a second will save at +14). Ultimately, she leaves it up to Shel but tells her to save the slot, thank you.

"Also, nice to hear that you are speaking with me again," Pressi quips before heading into the cave. "Look, when you are friends with me, it gets loud. I'm a big girl, I can handle it, though I guess sometimes I forget others can't. What I can't handle whatever this refusal to talk back is. If we aren't friends, can't say I blame you. But if you do, understand that when I push doesn't mean that I don't."

Kezzem moves as quietly as if he were Bliss, and ends his quietly walk and weapons extraction on the far side of the ogre nearest the door. He waves to Pressi, over by the other snoring bigun. He signals to her, indicating he is about to attack. Of course, she can't see him signal. If she does not object, he executes a coup de grâce.

[Am not certain whether we are in strict rounds, until combat begins... so his attack may be for next round. Coup de grâce damage is, I think, 10+5+3+17=35, though it may be more. If more than one strike can be used in the attack, then he also does an additional 19 from adamantine short sword (AC 28), and another 4 from the dagger (AC 22), so 35+23=58 - and I may have some of this wrong, as I have not played a Pathfinder rogue before. In any event, the ogre needs to at least make a Fortitude save vs DC35, or he dies. If he does not die from that, then the 58 hp damage may at least slow him down. -Kim]

Murphy didnt see anyone enter the cave. Also the cave is on the North side of the valley.

Kezzem drives his dagger into the neck of the ogre easily dispatching it. For some reason Bliss doesn't have the same luck as the bah wounds the creature but doesn't kill.

The ogre sits up and screams... We're under attack... goblins and orks..... " His eyes go wide as he sees the now visible Kezzem. " Halflings... halflings... halflings" the creature bellows.

Bliss fires a bolt at the ogre, hitting AC 22 for 10 more damage.

Mookie watches to see if the ogre takes an AoO this round. If it does use its AoO, then expecting it has no more left, Mookie and Silvie fly into the Ogre's space and peck at it! [They do not want to suffer the usual AoO for moving through threatened spaces and into enemy squares.] Diminutive Mookie attacks at +13, hitting AC24 for 1 hp nonlethal damage PLUS 7 hp viscious tear damage. Mookie himself takes 3 hp vicious damage. Silvie, just a normal raven, hits at +4 to hit AC15, inflicting another point of nonlethal damage if she hits.

Murphy casts call lightning, and watches for anyone to see if they take notice. If they have they are doing a good job of hiding it.

Sky exits(?) the cave. (OOC: Did you mean enter, or is Sky walking out of the cave in plain site of an entire giant army?)

The ogre looks at Kezzem and just mouths "What". His face scrunches up, too dumb to get the connection.

Bliss fires his bow and connects again. Mookie and Silvie head in thinking the ogre has no more attacks.. Mookie also connects but Silvie doesn't wound the ogre. The ogre sings his aoo at Mookie. (No one else triggered,) but he misses. His actuall attack also misses.

Shel casts Haste catching Kezzem, Bliss and herself.

Kezzem replies to the ogre with two daggers and Pressi adds some shuriken. The ogre does not drop.

Alleah gets her faerie fire wand ready.

Diminutive Mookie, reduced to the size of a hummingbird, wonders why he and Silvie are the only ones fighting toe-to-toe, and he wishes he coulda got some of that sweet sweet haste spell, but he's too busy giving Silvie orders to take the time to grouch out loud. He tells his ladybirdbot to help distract the ogre (Aid Another to hit).

Though I could change into gaseous form and get through the door, I'm a bit reluctant to do so, as I would be pretty much stuck in that form for over an hour.

"When we open the door, two likely things. One - we may be facing a huge assault against us. Or, two, people may have retreated farther in. The longer it takes us to get through, the more likely the first option is.

"That said, when we get the door opened - we need to be ready with arrows, daggers, fireballs, perhaps a slow spell against the enemy, or haste for us. Now, who can get that door opened? Oh, and there are dogs, or wolves, further in."

I will try to lever the bar up. You take this other thin piece, and poke the top - it should be at about that height, when I say, 'Go.' The bar should fall on the other side and make a loud clatter. At Mookie's comment, Murphy responds, "How about, if we can't finesse it from this side, I get us in there within 30 seconds?"

He explains, "I change to earth elemental. I've been in the next room, so I know the shape of the walls. I drop through the floor, or move through the walls, come out next to the door, open the latch, and in we all go." He does not say, but plans, should Kezzem and Pressi not be able to get the door open, he also would take a quick look before committing to fully enter the room - perhaps glancing down from the ceiling. He will wait for a moment, though, to observe success, or hear other ideas. For now, he flies off to one side. Knowing which side the door is within the kitchen to whatever lies beyond, he goes to the side opposite that, so that he does not inadvertently enter yet another room. If the door to the room after the kitchen, however, is more or less straight through across the kitchen, he moves to whichever side appears to give him more room to maneuver. Another reason he moves out of the way is, in case the door opens, he does not want to be directly in the line of fire, if there is such.

Pressi rubbed her eyes. It had been a long weekend.

"Ok, one step at a time. Sky, I think it's clear that we aren't talking our way in, though I could certainly try again, or at least get someone to come out here with questions. I mean, I could try appealing to their manhood or "admit" that we are mercenaries trying to destroy humble's ford too, or I could go back out there and try to convince someone that the demons have Hairshirt, but I'm not truly confident that we can talk our way in.

"Bliss, I am not sure if we will get another better chance at this. They are clearly waiting for us now, and they will be waiting for us later. So if we leave - and someone should be making sure our path doesn't get cut off - we are going to have to do something more subtle than trying to talk or sneak our way in again.

Pressi takes out her masterwork lockpicking tools and makes the lockpicking attempts as Kezzem requested. (Disable Assist 13 (Nat 1), Disable 20). But she explains what she saw of the bar that normal lockpicking might not be sufficient. "And Murphy, the last time you changed into a gaseous form, it was not great. I do have some other tools. Crowbar, rope and other climbers equipment (if someone has animate rope or mage hand, we could build a pulley), smokesticks...

"And this hammer to drive in my climbers kit pitons. Maybe instead of trying to break in, we should try sealing them in further or smoking them out?"

Bliss cured Mookie using his wand.

Murphy listens at the door, and hears some lite whispering on the other side. He hears growling, which he can assume is from the dogs but that is a little further than the whispering.

Kezzem tries the lock but is unable to get the bar off of the latch. Both times he is close but fails.

Bliss suggests leaving and coming back at a later time.

Murphy suggests him going through the walls to open the door( because splitting the grouo always works out.). (Ooc: Holding you there because we are jumping rounds and others arent on the same time frame.)

Sky asks for a breakdown of the plan, ready eithed way.

Pressi suggest some alternates while also answering some of the questions. Her attempt at the lock also doesn't work.

The metal door is still locked.. and every except Murphy hears nothing on the other side.

"Pressi - any tanglefoot bags? Maybe have one on hand for when the door opens."

"Good idea, Sky, mount Meko."

"Bliss, let's not leave until the party's over."

"Maybe hold until we see what's on the other side, Shel."

He transforms into an earth elemental. His voice, no longer airy, becomes rough, raspy, deep - but relatively quiet nonetheless. "Alleah, please cast enlarge upon me." He gets up right next to her. "My invisible rocky arm is about three feet in front of your face." As he waits, he says, "There are at least two on the other side, whispering. Some dogs are farther back."

He does not respond to the nervous Bliss. The kid'll get into it once the door is opened, he figures. He really likes Bliss, but often he wants to leave before the party is over.

[DM Shawn: 1. Was Murphy able to discern what the whispered language was, and any of the words spoken? He knows what orcish sounds like (has learned a few words - in the process of learning, but competence will be next level), speaks goblin and giant.

Bliss has the deep intuition that this is all a bad idea. He's not so worried for himself, but he tells Mookie to stay here and stay hid near the exit. Under a dead ogre, say, both him and Silvie.

Bliss cancels his Alter Self. He does not want to be a medium orc. He wants to be his tiny usual self.

Bliss likes the idea of spiking the door and heading out, killing some giants on the way out.

Kezzem tries bluffing his way in but the door doesnt open.

Shel doesnt have the appropriate spells but does ponder about a possible back door.

Sky agrees it might a battering ram is a bad idea and thinks the door will be locked in the future as well.

Murphy turns into an earth elemental and asks for Alleah to enlarge him, to which she informs him she cant. The whispering was indecepheral and was just audible. The doors do swing inward.

Alleah uses her wand to cast bulls strength on Murphy.

Pressi tries the lock but fails. She gets her tanglefoot bags ready.

Bliss tells Silvie and Mookie to stay back. He gets rid of his image and takes his normal appearence. More then four minutes has gone by.

Kezzem tries to pip the latch again, and the first time is the same but the second time he catches it a little flusher and an audible clang echoes in the next chamber as the latch falls away.....

Bliss grins and whispers a thanks to the mage. He prepares himself to be attacked (standard action: total defense for +6 AC). Then he moves a hasted 60 feet into the room. He has darkvision and see invisibility. His hasted AC is now 33, or 37 vs AoOs provoked by his movement.

As Bliss walks in, he is not hiding, and in fact he calls out loudly in his high-pitched voice, "Hey stupid cowardly giants! Come out and fight! You are afraid of halflings! You are chickens! Buck buck buck!"

He makes note of the places in the complex where he COULD use his Hide In Plain Sight, if he had to! IF there are any! What light sources are there in here?

The room is illuminated by the giant fire in the kitchen Kezzem comes around the corner to see a a female giant standing behind the counter (50% conceal). The wicked smile is followed with a rock that goes skidding by the halfling rogue.

Murphy comes up an see the scene before him. The roof is high enough for a stone giant to walk without stooping down. The ceiling is uneven.

Bliss asks for a haste ad then peeks around the corner. Other then the giant she sees nothing.

Sky and Meko paw into the room, seeing the giant. He feels like it is a trap.

Pressi doesn't see any other traps other then the giant. She spikes the note and throws it down the hallway.

Shel casts haste while Alleah casts light to help illuminate the room some more.

A sudden sound comes from the room to the right as an ogre comes charging out with four wolves. One second it was absolute silence, and the next the group charges at meko and sky. The ogre swings a rolling pin at him but misses. The four wolves start snapping at the new animal, but all of them miss.

Pressi's initial charge stopped as Murphy began, once again, to move away from the group. "You know, if you want to get yourself killed, I can't stop you. As Murphy rounded the corner, Pressi began to dream of ex-boyfriends.

She shook her head. "Ok, we need to get some space going to keep these guys from moving. Sky, Bliss, see if you can keep the ogre there for now. Shel, Alleah, any spells that can be used to help keep these guys from flanking anyone would be appreciated. Kezzem, I'm on my way."

Pressi tossed the armed tanglefoot bag at the ogre (4 increments=8 penalty. No other penalty because of Ogre size and distance, DC 15 reflex). (Pressi hits a natural one).

Cursing, Pressi makes her way to flank the stone giant. "So, does this mean the kitchen is still open?"

Both Bliss' shots hit the stone giant. Both plunging into her side.

Murphy heads around the corner and comes face to face with anothe door. 10' in from the corner. He begins casting a summon spell.

Pressi yells to him about getting killed by exploring.. she throws the tanglefoot but misses terribly. In the back of Kezzems head he thinks of a joke about how girls throw.

Alleah moves in and also is annoyed with Murphy splitting off. She casts her spell catching all the combatants. The wolves are effected but the ogre and stone giant seem to take no effects.

Shel waits for Sky to move before blasting the ogres and wolves with glutterdust. She catches all but two of the wolves.

Kezzem stabs the giant knicking a wound.

Sky and Meko move back and unleash on a wolf ending its life.

The three wolves scatter back to were they came from.. terrified from Alleahs spell.

The ogre steps forward and again swings and again misses Meko.

The stone giant smiles at Kezzem. " i bet you're delicious.. " she says as she misses him twice with a frying pan that is larger then he is.

About midway through the round, Murphy completes his summon nature's ally 3 spell. In a moment, two small air elementals in the air immediately behind the head of the ogre. "Hyökkäys Ogre joka kiiltää! Antaa hänelle mene sokea silmissä!" Murphy instructs them in a rough and bold voice, speaking Auran. The instructions translate as: 'Attack the glittering ogre! Make him go blind in the eyes!'

The first of the two elementals who appeared slams into the back of the ogre's head, AC25, for 5 hp damage. The second is getting oriented... (did not roll for 2nd, due to mid-round arrival).

Kezzem, now using the flanking from Pressi carves into the flank of the stone giant. Twice the comedic cutter carves into the kidney.

Murphy's pair of air elementals roar to life, and the one attacks the ogre right away.

Bliss, who wounded the ogre last round, attacks again striking home twice. The second one takes her life from her.

Shel sends a magic missle into the stone giant who is looking bad.

Pressi slashes twice, and with the added presence of Kezzem, it is too much for the stone giant who colapases forward slamming on top of the counter. her body lands where her entire body is off the ground supported on the counter.

The wolves continue into the pen area.

Still hasted, she makes her way towards the room ahead, expecting Sky to follow her. She moves to barely in the hallway and looks around carefully (Perception 31, darkvision). If she can, she picks up the spike and note.

"If there's anyone in here," she calls out, "don't let pride get in the way. We just want to talk. And I think you know what we want to talk about."

Shel whispers to the others. "The Haste spell doesn't have too much time left. We need to find Hairshirt ASAP.". She was buzzing around with almost kinetic energy, ready to finish off the giant and get out of there before the other Giants found them.

"Since no one has said, 'No,' I will take a quick visit to the next room," Murphy whispers via the message spell, for Bliss to relay on. "Once last chance to change my mind. Plan to up a ways, and inward, perhaps look down from ceiling area on the room beyond - then likely come back to you - or open the door from within, then duck down. General plan. Suggest alternatives if you'd like."

He goes to AJ18 - last time he'll be in earshot for a few moments. He plans to earthglide upwards above the ceiling at AI18, then off to one side, come in off to one side for a peek - but that move will await the next post or so. Right now, at AJ18.

Bliss asks wether they should kill the wolves or not.

Murphy tells the air elementals to scan around looking for invisible creatures but none are found. Bliss also didnt see any. ( Holding to only the first post since some havent posted yet).

Pressi moves up and retrieves her note. She moves closer to the door and calls out.. an orkish voice calls back in Goblin .... " Who be there?"

Kezzem jokes about the wolves, and Shel tells everyone they need to move asap. The haste spell is about to wear off.

The wolves seeme to have been coralled in the little nook area.. they start barking and growling and even seem as if they are starting to tear into each other.

Ooc: My apologies. Assumed pressi went for the door that was mentioned and not where the dogs were headed. Tbe dogs only ran back to their area and there is no door there. The only door is at the bottom. But also.. I didnt need you at randomize the map and make it more confusing in some passive aggresive knock. Remember a map isn't required. I prefer not to use one because then i get questions like: how high is the roof, what grade is the slope. I.e questions that aren't relevant to the issue at hand. Perhaps more confusing is when people are posting multiple rounds worth of actions instead of keeping it in the allotted ammount.

Bliss moves up to the door and sees it is in fact not locked. He hears a few orcish voices whispering inaudbly. He also hears chains clanking.

Sky and Meko move towards the door behind Pressi. "Show yourself" he yells.. " we cant" a brutish voice calls back in common.

Pressi then adds to it.. and the orcs call back. " We're chained up. "

Shel follows behind the duo.

Alleah casts speak with animals but it doesn't work. She takes out her frustration on a pebble.

Kezzem offers to grease the wolves.

If Murphy earthglides into the room he sees a group of orcs and goblins chained to walls. The room is 15 by 15 square( no map).

Seeing the room is a prison, and those inside are chained, Murphy says in goblin, then in common, "I will open door. I know you cannot see me. Don't be afraid." He earthglides the rest of the way inside, stepping down and over a goblin, and opens the door. "It's me," his growly voice says in common.

"Why are you all chained?" asks the disembodied voice of those inside, as he walks to wall opposite the door to allow his friends also to enter.

How many orcs? How many goblins? He looks at the chains, considering their thickness, and whether he might be able to break them, or pull them from the wall.

He also looks next to the wall next to him, seeing if he can discern a secret door.

[Sorry, Shawn - I could tell that the group really was not on the same page at all - and, with no clarification, I punted. I really thought there might be another door in the wolves room, just did not know where. Please, let's keep the map - and everyone can refer to it, DM and players alike. In tactical situations, it makes a huge difference, and, in theory, minimizes confusion and ambiguities. The height of the cave was requested for purposes of earthgliding.

I think our styles of communication may be frustrating to one another - but I don't think either of us intends the frustration. I paint details, you paint with broad strokes. My apologies to all for perhaps going overboard representing the clear confusion on the map positioning options.]

"Ok, we get it," Pressi called back to Kezzem. "You cannot wait to just release that grease all over. I get that self control isn't your forte, but at least think of baseball for a while."

Pressi turned to Skye. "Our disguises and attempts to foment rebellion may have made things much worse for those already at the bottom rungs of society. If they really are chained up orcs, then I shoulder some of the blame.... I'm going in. Cover me."

Pressi made her way forward, checking carefully for traps and to make sure that the group is who they say they are. With the corner of her eye, she makes sure that the wolves stay off to the side. (Perception 30, 31 for traps, with darkvision). "Listen carefully," she starts saying in orcish. "I am going to free you but you need to decide where your loyalties lie. If you intend to help us or flee, or are willing to answer questions, we appreciate your support. If you are lying about who you are, or make any opposition to us, that's the kind of thing that can wait until later.

"Also, I will only free you if you can tell me where everyone else is. Why does it seem like only chained up orcs seem to be here? Where is Hairshirt?" (Diplomacy 12).

If she sees chained up orcs, she will try to free them (Disable 26). If not, she does the total defense action again.

Sky doesn't like the look of things, he relays his thoughts to Meko, who also growls in distrust at the "orcs". He pulls back on his knocked arrows, ready to unleash a volley at anyone making a threatening move.

even if they are real orcs, I'm not sure letting them loose right away is a good thing. Were still out numbered by giants and orcs for that matter. Let's thin the heard a bit first I say..

Sky is unsure, and Meko adds his growl to accentuate the point.

Bliss asks Murphy to open the door for him.

Murphy sees three of each. The chains are about 3 inches, more built for giants then orcs. While staring at the wall he sees an outline of a large door.

Pressi asks about Hairshirt and one of the orcs points to the hidden door murphy saw. As for the chains, they will need to be broken to get off.

Bliss sees no invisible creatures but he does notice a door across from Murphy.

Shel readies some firepower, literally.

Alleah is having a hard time with her spell. Maybe it is good the wolves cant understand her.

Kezzem cracks another joke.

" The stone giant last went in there" the orc says pointing at the wall. " We just want to leave."

Murphy calls for the air elementals, and says, "Kun ovi avataan, hyökkäät suurin jättiläinen." [When the door is opened, attack the biggest giant.] (Note: I put the two air elementals at AK17, but they're up in the air, so someone can be under them in the same square.)

In halfling he says, "Get Alleah here. I am going to take a peek inside."

Not taking more time to talk nor to translate for Bliss, he jumps upward into the wall. He is hasted (earthglide 40', therefore), but moves with stealth of 43 (so, 20' max total move). He likely will not travel the whole 20' - his plan - get through the leftwards wall enough to poke his head through for a quick glance (perception: 43 - & he has dark vision 60') to get the lay of the room beyond. If he encounters an obstacle, he will try to navigate up and to the left in a room-centered arc - the plan being, when he does find open room, his eyes sweep right (the other side of the door) to left around the room, then he pulls back into the wall, to lower the chances that, IF someone spots him (unlikely with his invisibility and decent stealth roll), his face won't be sticking out if they decide to huck a boulder in his direction.

If enough movement remains for him to poke his head back into the prison room, he will do so. If not enough movement remains, he will be in the wall for the moment, and cast know direction to help preclude getting lost.

Shel gives a voice of confidence and tries to rally the troops vs the giants.

Alleah is annoyed that now her spells work. Well atleast she thinks they did as nothing magical is detected.

Kezzem checks for traps, but nothing is sticking out. Atleast to the best of his knowledge.

Murphy again decides to scout ahead and earth glide through the walls. He gets about five feet into the wall is stopped. The next room has metal lining the walls. (Ooc: Not that it matters now, but how is Murphy moving any more then 5' with earthglide. Unless I am reading it wrong on the spell and earth elemental pages)

Sky and Meko follow behind Kezzem. Ready at a moments notice.

Bliss tries to peak under the door, but the floor and door are so close. Almost as if sculpted out of the wall itself. He does hear moving around but very feignt.

Pressi realizes she cant break the chains.. the orc shrugs his shoulders and looks down. She sees a tear fall.

The door is still shut and Murphy isn't able.to push through.

Answering your question, Shawn: The earth glide spell does allow for 5' movement. The earth elemental uses earth glide for its burrowing, which is at a speed of 20'. Haste would allow for double that speed. This from the earth elemental description: "Earth Glide (Ex) A burrowing earth elemental can pass through stone, dirt, or almost any other sort of earth except metal as easily as a fish swims through water. If protected against fire damage, it can even glide through lava. Its burrowing leaves behind no tunnel or hole, nor does it create any ripple or other sign of its presence." So - its burrowing is using earth glide, typically moving along at 20'.
Murphy, last round, hit the metal (which may have produced a 'thump'), went up higher, to see if the shielding also covered the ceiling, or just the walls. If just the walls, and not the ceiling, he should have gotten a decent look. If the ceiling also is shielded, then this round he pokes his head out back into the room with prisoners, and carefully steps back into the room. He does not want to squish anyone.

"Metal clad room inside," he says quietly in common. He goes to the door - stone surface, right? He moves his rocky hand as far as it will penetrate to whatever metal is underneath, and feesl about, until he understands through touch what that might reveal about the mechanism [Perception check 40]. If it's easy to open that way, he announces to the group to ready themselves, and opens it, then steps in and quickly to the left or right (whichever side is most easily available). If not easy to open, Murphy communicates that to Kezzem, who likely has the best chance of overcoming any lock (aid another +2).

In the mean time, Alleah starts casting Reduce Person on the orcs, making them small enough to slip free from their bonds.

"There are wolves in the next room" she warns them in case they didn't know "Once you are back to your normal size, casually walk out the entrance. Gather what you need and then quickly leave this camp. The giants here are not your allies"

She turns to look at the door, and then back to the orcs "You didn't happen to see some sort of switch or lever or something in here that would open that door, did you?"

Forgot to mention - if he succeeds in opening the door, when Murphy moves into the room he does so with stealth (32), and goes far enough in to make it easy for others to access (again, off to one side or another) - no need to have a massive earth elemental blocking a bunch of halflings, bumping in to him since he's invisible. His movement is 30 due to longstrider, so he will move up to 15' (1/2 speed for stealth).

Bliss comments to the orks, no funny business. He looks for another door, but none are revealed. He adds another cat's grace.

Murphy feels around, and even tries scaling the roof but the room is encased by the metal.

Shel offers the back door plan again. If a door and a wall stumped them, perhaps a back door.

Alleah shrinks the orcs and goblins down enough for them to get out of the chains. "thank you" the crying ork says, as a tear continues to stream down his face. The orks heads the advice and head out, making sure not to capture the attention of the wolves.

Pressi waits for Aleah and Murphy to figure something out.

Sky watches as the others work, and also keeps an eye on the orcs. They pose no problem though.
Kezzem searches alongside the door, and finally he sees a little gap. With the right amount of pressure from one of his picks, he hears a sudden suction of air. The doors slides back an inch, before fully releasing and sliding back the full distance. Once back enough the entire door slides to the left inside the room.

Across from the door about twenty feet is another wall... it appears the door opened in the middle of a hallway but the group can't tell until they enter.

Bliss waits for the haste, and then moves through the door and looks right and left. He reports back as to what he sees.

Mookie and Silvie remain at the entrance, hiding on guard.

As Kezzem finessed the door open, Murphy watched carefully how it moved, and how the tools were used. In a gravelly whisper in halfling, he thanks the rogue, answers Shel, "maybe hold on the haste, sister," and says to Kezzem, "Comin' through, movin' to the right." He steps in with stealth (using 32 rolled above during movement), looking left to right, up and down, then moves to the right. "Ilma elementaalit, tule tänne. One fly to the left, one fly to the right, and tell me what you see down the hallway.] He looks to see if metal is visible along walls, floor, and ceiling, and, if so, whether there may be gaps. He also tries to sense if there is any breeze, or any particular smell - or sound. If a large missile appears to be coming their direction, he calls 'Beware!' and tries to avoid.

"A little too tricksy," Pressi agreed. One can see the flash of paranoia in her eyes.

"... On the off chance that this door is primed to slam shut and lock behind us...."

Pressi attempts to use her Hammer of Force to hammer a climbing spike in the door frame so that the door can never close again. (Can hammer a spike in any hard surface with a DC 15 strength check. Strength check roll is 7). Cursing, she leaves the spike in the path, hoping it will at least act as a doorstop.

Unless someone else wants to try it?

(I really need to get some abilities that have a better than a coin flip's chance of succeeding.)

"Oh! Me! Me!" says the diminutive Bliss, still waiting for the Haste. He casts a Guidance (Ley check 46 = A-OK) and swings Pressi's hammer at the spike.

Str check: 15! Exactly what he needs!

"Easy peasy!" says Bliss, grinning. "There you go!" He hands the hammer back up to Pressi.

Shel congratulates Kezzem and offers to haste the group which Murphy tells her to hold off on.

Pressi tries to spike the wall to prevent the door from slamming shut. She isn't up to the task but Bliss helps her out.

Murphy steps in and sends his air elementals off in opposite directions. the hallway ends towards the left only a short distance to the left of the group.. to the right the hallway continues, but no one cans see past a very dark area. The ceiling is 20' up, and the walls and roof are covered in the plates but not the floor.

sky and Meko hang back to wait for a report.

Kezzem takes the thanks accordingly.

The air elemental that went the other way comes back quick at Murphy.... and attacks. Luckily the small elemental doesn't connect.

Shel delays to hear what the front liners report back. Once they give a report, she will move forward and attempt to catch the entire group in her Haste effect.

[Note: I squished the size of the columns, as they represent 5' squares, to be closer to visually square. Hope that is okay, Shawn. Oh, also changed sheet name we are in this round to R1, and added sheet R2 for your next round updates.]

As Murphy had explicitly earlier moved 10' to the right (from his perspective) coming out of the door, he likely should be at L5, but let's compromise at M5 (he had moved to get out of others' way to come out the door themselves). If that's okay, then air elemental 2 (ae2) could be at L5 (where I nudged him), or right above Earthy-Murphy sharing M5.

Assuming the black on the map is magical darkness... Murphy has darkvision to 60'. So he can see (in black & white) all the way to A5 (if the open space goes that far). A few points of the arc of his vision extend to A6, A7, B10, C14, and as far as H17 (and to J18 after his 5' step before he casts a spell) (I put a temporary 'x' at each point on his visual arc so you can see his visual range - feel free to delete the x's on the R2 map), if obstacles do not block his view.

He says, in halfling, "Spellcaster ahead. Shel, haste! Alleah, light!" He will add in halfling a superfast description of what and whom he sees ahead (sorry, Bliss, he does not have time to translate for you).

He steps forward to L6 (so long as that spot is not occupied by someone or something else), so should still be in range of Shel's haste spell, and within 30' of everyone except for Alleah (who looks to be outside Shel's haste area of effect). Disloyal small air elemental may get an attack of opportunity vs Murphy, and then, both air elementals blink back to their elemental plane (end of summoning duration at close of this round).

If someone is invisible ahead, even hiding in shadows or hiding in plain sight - he may still be able to spot them (Perception 50). If an invisible one looks either large as a giant, or small as a goblin named Caster (the fellow in Dolp's cave), he casts faerie fire on that person.

If he discerns none who are invisible, (especially if there are multiple targets, and one or more giants) he will instead cast ice storm (however, I need a description / map update before I can specify where it is centered, to keep up with what he actually sees - and will roll damage at that time).

Pressi shrugs at Murphy's command to caste haste. "I'm not sure. Even if we are in combat now, it doesn't feel like such combat will be quick. We may need to keep some stuff for later."

Pressi moves forward, trying to peer in the darkness. (Perception Nat 1). Even with her darkvision, she doesn't really have much chance in stopping whatever comes. She considers going after the air elemental but Murphy gets in the way.

Bliss takes a five ft step back to 5N. He shoots twice at the air elemental.

He hits AC33 and AC35. The hit in AC35 is a nat 19, a crit threat, and Bliss follows up to confirm vs AC18.

He inflicts 9+10 = 19 hp damage, plus 8 more if it is AC18 or less.

Without knowing exactly what was ahead, except for a spellcaster, Shel fells like she has no choice but to cast her magics now. She goes ahead with the Haste spell, moving to get all of them in range, if possible.

Shel awaits for a heads up so she can cast her haste spell.

Alleah also waits for the all clear sign.

Murphy moves up and looks into the room. He sees a huge stone giant standing at the end of the table. He has a wicked smile on his face.. " Welcome halflings. Come.. come... We were expecting you." Murphy casts ice storm.

Kezzem comes into the room and looks for the air elemental, but Murphy already dismissed it.

Pressi thinks about attacking the elemental, but Murphy has already dismissed it.

Bliss saves the shots as the air elementals are displaced.

Shel does decided to cast her haste spell.

"Come to me halflings. There are enough places to sit at my table... and a few on top..." the giant says with a laugh.
