Meeting with Calliembria d4=2 ; Thursday April 27th, 2017 4:59:27 PM Take 2000 exp for scene 1 rp
Tinker gets quite the story out of the various patrons of the tavern. The mines are just to the west of town, about an hour on horseback. Most of the people associated with the mine stay in a camp there for their daily work, but they come into town usually at the end of the week, and someone is expected tomorrow. Business has been poor lately from the miners, though, because of some issue with the mines, an nothing frivolous is purchased.
One old man in the corner nurses his ale and calls out when he sees Tinker heading out into the darkness. You be careful out there, sonny! There's a dragon that lives in these woods, and it's calling all sorts of dark things from the woodworks. It doesn't bode well for our little town here, I tell you!
The horses seem good to go, as the pace for the day was not too grueling. They set off again into the darkness. Pru and Michael confidently set out into the woods, but both get turned around almost immediately. Luckily, Nikolai's familiarity with the terrain allows him to pick out a trail fairly quickly, and they are well on their way.
They hear a few things in the woods. Growls, howls, chitters and skitters, but nothing appears to assault them. In about an hour, they see some lights flickering through the trees and a camp emerges from the darkness.

Tinker waits until the wagon is within easy shouting distance of the camp before parking and cupping his hands beside his mouth. "HELLO THE CAMP!", he calls so they don't see the twighlight advance as a hostile force. "I am Daemar Torvalsson. I and my seven friends are a-coming in!"
Pending an answer, the dwarf clucks to the horses and begins moving the last few dozen feet to the camp.

OOC: I actually forgot to use my Tracking skill roll. LOL.
IC: Nikolai picks up the tracks easy enough and as it starts getting dark he pulls out is Everburning Stick. It makes a bright glow to attract night boogies but he's determined to stay on the path. He trusts that dragons don't usually do business at night. When the lights of the mining camp come into view, he lets Tinker take over, keeping his eyes and ears sharp. Just because they are close to camp doesn't mean everything is safe.

"You guys don't think the dragon menacing the camp is same one we fought? If it is maybe he's going after the people we care about instead of us in order to get revenge for us embarrassing him." Anna suggests.
After they get to the Camp Anna turns her dark vision in different directions looking for potential critters or dragons (Perception: 18)
Meeting with Calliembria Friday April 28th, 2017 4:11:37 PM
Anna and Nikolai see no sign of dragon tracks in the woods on the way to the camp. No news is good news, right?
Pru and Sigvar dismount upon reaching the firelight, both respectful and ready for any danger.
Trayvin sees no sign of guards around. The miners must feel safe out here. Or at least more safe than mine that seems to be troubling them.
When Tinker announces himself to the camp, Calliembra’s comes running from near the fire and jumps up to hug him about the neck, though she quickly releases her hold and punches him on the shoulder.
"It's about time you made it, little brother! You were always so polite and prompt to come when called as a tyke. What happened!"
Back by the fire, a voice chimes in from a stout gnome woman. "Is that little Daemarr? And who are his friends? Come, sit, eat!"
Trayvin AC 22/13 touch Hp 70/70(BrianZ) Friday April 28th, 2017 10:10:44 PM
Trayvin is pleased that everything seems to be well at the moment. And the food sounds good after the fare at the roadside Inn. "I hope you have some good ale, the last we had was a bit watered down."
Trayvin will let Tinker make the introductions.

Tinker wraps his hefty arms about his sister and gives a measured hug, not wanting to squeeze any ribs! "Callie!", he shouts, ignoring the good-natured teasing that he expects as much as breathing from his family. He was never as quick on the social games and compensated by ignoring the by-play as much as possible.
"Mother Posie?", he calls, and Tinker is soon surrounded by his family, slaps on the back and hugs and grins. "Papa Jasper, Mother Posie, sibs, let me introduce my battle brothers and sisters..." and the dwarf makes introductions of all the Mailed Fist, Nikolai and Prudence; Michael, Trayvin and Anna; Sigvar and Pompous.
And then the return of his foster family; Papa Jasper, Mother Posie, the older sisters Goldi and Callie, the brothers Agate, Obsidian, and Nickel.
Nikolai (JonathanT) AC 22 Tch 21 Ffted 19 HP 60/60 CMD 28/30(Grapple) Saturday April 29th, 2017 12:08:53 AM
Nikolai disagrees with Anna. "It may be the same dragon but that it would know Tinker's family and where they live would be highly unlikely. Besides, the problems are reported to come from deep inside the mines. If the dragon was after revenge, their mining camp would be no more."
Nikolai greets Tinker's family when his turn comes around but says little. He has no experience with Gnomes and knows very little of gnomish customs so plays it safe by saying little. The offer of food sounds really good though.
"It is an honor to meet Tinker's family. I'm Nikolai and the Thumb of this Fist. Although the Leader, we all hold the same rank. Thank you for the offer of food," he grins.
Prudence Gundle Saturday April 29th, 2017 1:24:38 PM

Anna also helps with the horses asking them if there is anything special she can get them and thanking them for pressing on into the night.

Tinker is in about as good a mood as anyone has ever seen the dwarf in; smiles and laughter with the much more jovial gnome family. He responds to Michael, "Those ARE there nicknames. Their full names are Jaspertink, Posiepocket, Goldilocks, Calliembria, Agatorison, Obsidianness, and Nickelbak (who thinks himself the bit of the bard)."
Meeting with Calliembria Monday May 1st, 2017 6:27:09 PM
The horses are simple creatures, and appreciate a good good curry brush, a few carrots, and rest more than anything. Goldi shows Anna and Sigvar where they can hitch the horses up for the evening and assists in getting them settled.
Posie overhears the talk of Dragons. "Stuff and Nonsense! There's no dragon in these woods. Never has, nothing here for them! I bet that old coot in the inn was just spouting nonsense for attention again."
Pru, Trayvin, Nikolai, and Michael soon find themselves laden with plates and mugs, as do the others when they finish with the horses.
Tinker sits with Callie as she explains the situation. She loses a bit of her joking nature as she explains the seriousness of the situation.
The mine has been working for some time now, extracting mostly ore and the occasional gem. Last week, we opened a new cavern off of the lowest tunnels. It seemed like it would be an especially rich area, but something happened. The group that opened up the cavern never came back. A search party was sent after them, and they never came back. It can’t be just a cave-in, or the search party would have reported in. Now everyone is afraid to head down to the lowest levels, and a few are even considering leaving because whatever is down there might come up. For now, we've locked the lift at the top of the shaft, but some of the crew is too scared to go in at all."
Trayvin AC 22/13 touch Hp 70/70(BrianZ) Monday May 1st, 2017 8:48:05 PM
Trayvin enjoys the food and the company, but the matter of the missing miners has him very concerned.
"Sounds like a rescue operation is in order. How long have they been gone? Would the food supply have lasted them this long?" Trayvin suggests the group wastes no time with this effort and set in at first light.
As for the dragons...."I'm not sure what troubles me more, that it could be the same dragon, or that it could be two different ones."

Prudence Gundle Monday May 1st, 2017 10:35:56 PM
Pru is entirely out of her depth. She started out a farm girl, then became a sorcerer and a soldier. Mines are entirely outside her experience. "Um, well," she says. "Well, if they're in trouble, we'll do what we can to help." She hopes she sounds like she knows what she's doing, but she isn't hopeful.

But he turns serious as talk about the mine takes over the topic of conversation. "Doesn't sound good. Best hope is that they are slaves now. I hope we have not arrived too late. We'll need some rations for a couple of days down there. We'll start in the morning so we can get our rest and get our spells in order."
Even though they are in a gnome camp, Nikolai still has his Fist set up watches, although only one at a time is necessary so the watches are shorter. He takes a middle watch.

When she hears that Nickelbak fancies himself a bard she says to Tinker, "Let me guess every song written by him ends up sounding the same."
When people talk of what could be in the cave she says, "Could it be orcs, goblins or something more exotic like a creature of flame and shadow?"
She volunteers to take an early watch so her darkvision will still be in effect.

He looks at Nikolai, but thinks he already knows what his friends are going to say. "I think we can take a look. Little Brother (he points to himself) learned a few things from Old Unrak about dwarf subterranean skills."
"Before going, we'll want to set up a means of communication so we can tell you what's going on."
He starts tucking into the food as he sees Mother Posieglaring at his full plate...
Meeting with Calliembria Tuesday May 2nd, 2017 3:05:32 PM
It's a good thing it's late in the night and much of the food had already been consumed. Else the Agents would have found their plates overflowing long into the night.
The gnomes and miners take the chance to get a good night's rest, possibly the best they've had since this whole fiasco started. The watch sees nothing, and the sun rises quietly on a new day.
Tinker's parents and sister are much relieved that the Agents will be offering their help, but they have no idea of what could be causing the problems.

Sigavr listens to the tale, but is quietly worried. Unlike the others he doesn't immediately write off the miners, though there is a good chance they are dead or enslaved. Tinker's kin have enough to worry about without that being thrown at them. He gets to sleep early and on his watch, walks the camp. He does this to meet any of the miners that are still awake and to look over the defenses that the camp has in place. Should they need to run from the mine with pursuit, this could be an important bit of info. Profession Soldier 7

Anna, If I gave you some gold could you pull a couple of slow poisons or something from your pack? I've a feeling we might need some.
Michael finds that he loves Gnomish food! the odd folk know how to put together an interesting meal. Mushroom chili with pickled onions spiced with cardamon, who would have thought it?! but it works and works well. He sees if he can cage a care pack off Mama Posie before they set off. Nikolai (JonathanT) AC 22 Tch 21 Ffted 19 HP 60/60 CMD 28/30(Grapple) Tuesday May 2nd, 2017 10:16:34 PM
Nikolai awakens earlier than most others and spends some in meditation. His father, although a Cavalryman first, had been blessed by Domi and granted some clerical powers. It seems he also inherited some of that blessing but from Alemi. Tinker had mentioned some form of communication to the upper world so he prays for 'Animal Messenger' as well as his 'Magic Fang'.
"First chance we get to capture a bat, let's try it, so we don't have to hunt some animal down on the spur of the moment," he says with a grin.
"Never hurt to have too much rope," he tells Trayvin. "I've got 50' of silk rope, but feel free to bring along any extra you wish to carry."
After eating some breakfast he helps gather up their extra gear and asks Calliembria if the way through the mines is straightforward or should he draw a quick map. After ascertaining that the way is simple or given a sketch map, he loads up and points at Tinker.
"You're the Lead Man today, Lead!" and grins.

Meeting with Calliembria Wednesday May 3rd, 2017 6:15:01 PM
Pompous is excited to do what his people do best. Sigvar has some worries, but keeps them to himself so as not to disturb the other miners and Tinker's family unduly.
Pru and Trayvin ready their magic for anything they think they may encounter in the mines, and ask for any assistance the miners can provide. The lift will take you straight to the new cavern. We can lower you down and back up when you're ready, so you shouldn't need any additional rope. There's no light down there though, so you'll need to take it with you. We have a few miner's lanterns that you're welcome to use.
Nikolai and Anna see to their communication with the miner's camp, and Michael sees to the protection of their stomachs by lavishing praise on Mama Posie. She blushes a bit, calls Michael a scamp, and gladly packs up some less perishable rations that are much better than any normal trail food.
There is one last thing though. The lift can only hold two of you at a time. Whoever goes down first will be down there alone for 20-30 minutes as we get the lift back up, reloaded, and sent down again.

He looks at Nikolai who only grins back, and Tinker shrugs. "Okay. First lift is me and Trayvin. Sigvar is second. Then Prudence and Anna. Then Michael and Pompous. And then Nikolai."
"If everyone grabs a lantern but we only use two at a time, we can stay longer. Let's go"
Grabbing a miners lantern, Tinker goes to the lift.

"Pru, we might need that Feather Fall later on, so keep them. Anna, having a Animal Messenger scroll will be helpful, especially if we get split up. Looks like we got plenty of light sources, I even still have my Everburning Torch. I think we're as ready as we'll get."
Nikolai remembers a prize he won at the Giggling Ghost one Christmas party. It was a helmet that had a small spike on the forehead where you skewered a candle so you had your hands free. He left it at home, though.
At the mine shaft he helps lower and raise the lift if needed while he waits his turn.

I can activate my darkvision SLA, wear the ring and feather fall down after Trayvin and Tinker. Nikolai can ride down with Pru and we can be ready to go 20 to 30 minutes earlier. Talk of sending a ring up in the lift is the final straw for Pru. She flings up her hands. "Guys, I'm a sorcerer. I can cast lots of spells every day. I'm not going to run out because I cast one Feather Fall. And with one cast, I can get all of us." Glancing at Sigvar, she amends it. "Well, most of us."
Meeting with Calliembria Thursday May 4th, 2017 2:16:07 PM
Much discussion goes around about how best to get down the mineshaft, until Pru throws up her hands in frustration. She casts the spell on the group, excepting those with rings so she can hit Sigvar, and jumps down the shaft, telling them to follow before the spell expires.
The fall is relatively quick and quiet, and much sooner than expected, the entire group has assembled at the bottom. It is quiet. Very quiet. As the Agents land one by one, they are forced to move a small ways down the tunnel to make room for those behind, unless they want to end up in a heap.
The passage is only 5 feet tall and 5 feet wide, so everyone but Michael is cramped, and Sigvar has to bend almost double to make it in.
Please let me know of any preparatory actions, where lights are, marching orders, etc. The tunnel is single file and bendy, so you cannot see more than 10 feet or so.

Down at the bottom, Tinker moves to the front, squeezing by people. He looks carefully at the tunnel and see if the stonecutting has anything unusual. "I'm in front, Michael behind me. Let's see what we can find." Tinker moves forward, using his dwarf instinct and darkvision to see what is about.

He anxiously awaits his turn to jump and wastes no time in doing so. On the way down he pulls out his Everburning Torch. Once at the bottom he assumes he'll remain in the back and Tinker continues to lead. Sigvar inspects the lift, but it seems that it was constructed by more skilled engineers than he, and sees no way to improve it, short of installing a more permanent structure and guide rails to prevent it from swinging into the rock walls of the chute. The travel time is for the safety of the occupants.
Tinker inspects the walls as he descends, but sees nothing unusual about the stone or how it was cut. He makes sure that Callie send down the lift after them for the quick evacuation of any survivors.

Pru, Nikolai, and Anna have plenty of light, but see nothing out of the ordinary either.
Pompous sings an old mining song, and the others would shush him, if the clanking of armor and Sigvar squeezing through the tunnel didn't provide enough noise to cover it.

'A good old torch would come in handy right now,' Nikolai muses. With his Everburning Torch he didn't want the extra burden of regular torches so he has none. However, with one of the trolls down, Pru won't have such a hard time hitting it. The other one should fall quick enough also.
"If anyone has a regular torch, have Pru light it and help finish off the downed trolls, and beware of that lake," he calls out. No stories he ever heard had anything good coming out of an underground lake. So with Trayvin, he continues to keep watch for other hostile denizens, or even any that might just be watching.

The trolls are quite beaten into a pulp by the ministrations of the Agents, but quickly the wounds seem to be healing. Except notably where Pompous, and then Pru, start apply fire to the goopy piles of former troll. Anna easily entangles the downed trolls, getting her vines covered in troll mucous for her trouble.
Michael, Tinker, and Sigvar easily keep the other troll down until the fire can be brought to them as well. Soon enough, there are only two piles of smoldering ash and the cavern is quiet for the moment.
Trayvin and Nikolai cast their gazes over the lake, highly suspicious that something may come crawling out to menace them, but for now, they see nothing. The do, however, catch a glimpse of some bones and helmets towards the end of the cavern.

Tinker looks about, not quite believing they are no longer under attack. And then, "the trolls must have thrown the rocks, then attacked", he concludes. There must be a nest nearby, he thinks, and then notices the bones and helmets. Miners helmets for sure, but to be certain, the dwarf picks his way over to the bone-and-helmet pile to carefully sift through for confirmation.
He belatedly remembers he is supposed to be in charge this time and looks up to see Trayvin keeping watch on the water. Good. What else needs to be done? Hmmmm... "The passage we took must have been the miner's work, so the trolls need another way to go and hunt. Someone find a path." There, he thinks satisfactorily, as he turns back to his inspection.

Pru sits down in the aftermath of the battle to figure out how she feels. Other than some residual heat and the smell of smoke, she is none the worse for wear.
Tinker turns his attentions to the scattered detritus that looked to be the trolls' sleeping area. He amasses a surprising amount of objects, many of which many be quite valuable, in addition to a small pile of coins and gems.
A carved ivory scroll case with some type of strange lettering on it, perhaps elvish. A glowing green rock. A small golden box with sides that look like they move. A marble idol in the shape of a flying dragon. A very dusty painting of a woman who can only be a queen. A shiny metal mask that looks like a skeleton face with holes for eyes and no other holes. A box with a set of silver dice, one each of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 20 sides. A silver chalice with a emblem of a red shield with crossed silver swords on the side. Two silver hand mirrors with carved winding snakes around the edges. A silver holy symbol of Gargul. A small silver status of a dragon standing, with its wings folded, on a pile of coins. A tiny round golden gong with a ringer that is about 3 inches long. A sword that looks quite sharp but is completely green, the color of grass. A small, full glass vial in the shape of a sword. A foot-long thin glass tube filled with liquid. A leather-wrapped old paper. A silver wand with black tar tips on the ends with two coins inscribed on the sides: one heads, one tails. A fat, bulky, hammered metal wand with multiple flat edges and smash marks. In the middle of the wand, a shield has been crudely drawn.
The others finish surveying the cavern, but other than some minor shaping of the small passage they came in, it looks natural, and they find no other egress.
All signs seem to say that these were the only two trolls in the cavern. Tinker wonders about hunting, but it seems that there are enough fish in the lake and small bones scattered about that these two could have fed reasonably well without leaving.
There is still no sign of other activity in the cavern.

Ever trying to improve herself, Pru asks Anna for some pointers about switching forms while scanning her eyes over the auras of the pile.
She is able to identify (in order) the +1 green longsword, an oil of align weapon, and a scroll of remove curse, but is stymied for the moment by the gong (DC 26), one potion (DC 18), a scroll (DC 16), and 2 wands (DC 16 and DC 18). you can roll two additional times for the wands still
Nikolai skips out on the surface of the the water and is able to see the wall on the far side of the lake, but there are no openings that way either.
Pompous keeps watch while Trayvin mends some of the wounds that Sigvar drew from the trolls.
Michael assesses the mundane items for their value. A piece of Coral and a Pearl seem to draw his eye, but they probably would seem much less shiny to someone else. The scroll case is quite well made (60gp), as is the marble dragon (300gp). The platinum mask is valuable for both its metal and craftsmanship (900gp), as is the silver cup (100gp) and the silver dragon (25gp).
He has no idea of the value of the green rock, puzzle box, painting, dice, or mirror, but recognizes the holy symbol as representing Gargul.
Anna dives down into the lake and sees nothing but fish for a while. Towards the bottom though there is a pile of tumbled rocks marring the otherwise smooth surface. Perhaps the trolls entered from some hole here, but if there was any access here before, it no longer remains. It seems that no danger is likely to approach from here anytime soon.

Pru identifies the wand with the shield as holding Mage Armor and the wand with the coins as holding Augury. She reads the scroll as finds it contains a casting of Remove Curse. Quite impressive deciphering for a dunce, I should say!
Sigvar wishes for the knowledge of his mother, feeling an uncleanness here. Perhaps a blessing from Trayvin would help to remove it, or a prayer to Lord Gargul focusing on the holy symbol found here.

Somebody said he came from the plains sargrass Where he got in a fight over an Elven lass And a crashin' blow from a huge right hand Sent a Rattledam fellow to the promised land, big John (Big John, big John) Big bad John (big John) Then came the day at the bottom of the mine When a timber cracked and men started cryin' Miners were prayin' and hearts beat fast And everybody thought that they'd breathed their last, 'cept John Through the dust and the smoke of this man-made hell Walked a giant of a man that the miners knew well Grabbed a saggin' timber, gave out with a groan And like a giant oak tree he just stood there alone, big John (Big John, big John) Big bad John (big John) And with all of his strength he gave a mighty shove Then a miner yelled out "there's a light up above!" And twenty men scrambled from a would-be grave Now there's only one left down there to save, big John
With jacks and timbers they started back down Then came that rumble way down in the ground And then smoke and gas belched out of that mine Everybody knew it was the end of the line for big John (Big John, big John) Big bad John (big John) Now, they never reopened that worthless pit They just placed a marble stand in front of it These few words are written on that stand At the bottom of this mine lies a big, big man Big John (Big John, big John) Big bad John (big John) (Big John) big bad John
As happens most times when he sings, it' lifts his spirits a bit, so he pulls out some of Tinkers mom's leftovers and has a little snack as they rise. he offers some to the rest of the group.

Tinker nods at Sigvar and the other Agents. "I think most miners give special attention to Domi, who rewards hard work, or maybe Ffloy to get rich. But I think any of the Woldian Gods would be appropriate; especially Gargul at the end of it all."
He nods and agrees with the idea of setting aside some of the treasure for the families who lost loved ones in the mine.
The dwarf gets his irritated scowl as Pompous starts singing but doesn't say nuthin'. The archer is entitled to his opinions and humor, even if Tinker doesn't like it. He gets thoughtful and nods along with Michael's catchy tune. "Mine to your heart's content in the Lands of Rest, good men and women of the earth." It was simple, but sincere.
Helmets and treasure in hand, he waits for Trayvin's blessing and then heads to the elevators and then the surface to tell of the miners' fate to his foster family and their companions.

Sigvar nods at Travin's words. He did not wish for the miners to see the end that their kin had come to, but could not condone leaving the bones for whatever vermin might crawl in here. He pulls out his shovel and starts to dig a grave, as near to the center of the dry part of the cavern as he can. They have no way to identify which bones belonged to which miner, since all are broken, chewed and sucked clean. He chants slowly and rhythmicly the rites he had heard his mother use when she prepared one of the Fist for the journey to Gargul's throne, He places the bones into the grave with a gentle hand, they had been men and women good at their trade, taken by surprise while doing their job. When Michael pulls out the leftovers he asks for a plate, and lays it in the grave with the remains. He then fills the hole and takes one of the massive troll femurs and drives it in as a marker. From it he hangs the symbol of Gargul.
He steps back and addresses the words Thumb Nickolai had said.
"Few other than priests openly worship Lord Gargul, but many seek his blessings. Many a wife consults the grey robed Eyes when they wish to conceive a child, then shun them as soon as the blessing is given and the seed planted. Lord Gargul giveth, and Lord Gargul taketh away. He stands in observance of both our entry into the Wold and our exit from it. Very few does he grant the chance to return from his halls once they have lost their lives. Those few are truly heroes that Lord Gargul must feel still have a destiny to deliver to the Wold. These miners died under his watchful eye, for this talisman of his faith was here for him to see them as they died for each other, alone and far from the oes they loved."
" Lord Gargul, I implore you to welcome these miners into your halls. Grant then rich veins to work if that is their wish, or the chance to be with their families if that was denied them here in the Wold. I did not know a one of them, yet having met their kin I am sure that they were taken before they intended to leave this life. Honor then, and , in time when they tire of the rest you give, send their spark back to inhabit the Wold again."
Sigvar steps away, but stands ready should Trayvin need any help in consecrating the burial mound.
Pompous's song at first raises the hackles on Sigvar's neck. The Taur is about to round on the archer and remind him that people died here. Then a calming breeze touches his brow, almost like when his mother would blow on his forehead when he became angry without cause. In a flash he realizes it is a work song, one a miner or any other that toils would sing to pass the day, and in that way is fitting. He again reminds the group that they need not summon scrolls while he has the monocle that is of no use to him since he cannot detect or identify magic items, but should greatly enhance their ability to do so, even a 'dunce' like Prudence claims to be. This thought makes him chuckle, and the anger is gone as fast as it came. He will take the last spot on the trek to the surface. If anything comes up behind them, he will be ready to hold it while the others ready themselves.

She then pulls out her masterwood darkwood guitar and plays some "elevator music" while they ascend the shaft.
Meeting with Calliembria Thursday May 18th, 2017 4:54:48 PM
With the help of Anna's scroll, the last two magical items are found to be a potion of Owl's Wisdom and a chime of opening.
Michael and Pompous each have their own brand of traveling music. Hopefully it doesn't clash too much with the sick guitar riffs.
Sigvar is momentarily angry at the music, but then calms himself, and realizes that each person deals with death in their own way. He can't really dig a grave in the stone of the cavern, but he says some words honoring the dead and wishing them well into Gargul's realm. He is able and willing to assist in their burial outside though.
Nikolai assesses the treasure and realizes he has no way of knowing how much belonged to the miners and how much the trolls brought with them. He counts up the coins as well and finds a goodly sum. Much more than the miners would have been paid for many months of work. (319 pp, 2459 gp, 208 sp, 1179 cp)
Pru calmly rides the lift, eager to see fresh air again.
Trayvin says he can prepare a spell to consecrate the area, should it be found appropriate.
Tinker rides up and relays the findings to Callie, who is much relieved that the area seems safe, but weeps a bit for lost friends. She rides back down the lift to go over the cavern and bring back the bones to bury. She is able to find no more exits than the Agents found in their perusal, and she thanks Trayvin for his offer of a blessing. "It would be most welcome. Even though we don't particularly worship Gargul, knowing that he's keeping the spirits of our friends safe is a happy thought."
The Agents finish their snacks just in time to make it back to camp for dinner! The meal is a little less festive than the one when they arrived, but closure is good for everyone, and they will certainly be more careful when opening up new caverns in the future.

Even though the evening fire is somber for the slain, relief is there for the closure, and Tinker looks about at his battle buddies. "We did good work there.", he states matter of factly. "Having us channeled in that one small tunnel could have been bad if all three of us didn't keep moving, trusting each other to do the right thing." He smiles at Sigvar and Michael. "Hard to do that when you are hurting and can't see, Michael. Or inviting attack by unknown strength of enemies like you did Sigvar."
"And then there was knowing what they were and their vulnerability to fire, and then creating enough fire to do the job. Each of us played a part so the team worked well."

Are we heading out tomorrow or do we have further business here? Weren't there other places we wanted to visit while on leave?"

As good soldiers, the Agents are quick to assess their battle and plan for how to be more successful in the future.
A few personal effects are collected from the pile - mostly broken mining gear and a few coins. Barely a dent in the glittering pile that was recovered. Not that they would object to a little bit extra to cover the losses they took in personnel and equipment.
Callie takes Trayvin back the next day to spread Gargul's blessing through the cave. The miners feel more safe immediately, though the dead trolls may be better for that than any blessing.
It seems that they're mission at the mines wrapped up in plenty of time for them to still make it to the wedding on time. I hope they all brought their presents!

Callie looks like she feels uncomfortable asking for money, seeing as the Agents just pulled them out of a bind. Then she notices the slightly glowing piece of rock and her eyes widen.
"Where would the trolls have found this? If there's more down in the mines, I can only imagine at the wealth we'll find! This is a genuine rock from the heavens! This alone would see us well into retirement. It must be worth upwards of 6000 gold pieces!"
Despite the recent hardships, the miner in her cannot help but be excited at the prospect of getting back into the mine.

Nikolai marvels at the size of Pru's family. He has a couple of siblings but certainly not that many. He's the oldest and therefor was expected to join the Mailed Fist. Father told him it was his choice, no one was forcing him to, but he felt that it would not only get him out of the house, but that he would be able to see the Wold like his father and grandfather and great grandfather and ... so forth, had.
Sigvar Ironhorn (David F) AC 28 (T 13, FF 23) CMD 28 HP 86/89 Character Sheet Thursday May 25th, 2017 12:34:42 AM
SIgvar thinks of his family. He only ever met his mother. No other relatives ever visited her, but she spoke of them. All were soldiers, first in the Fist, then after retiring back at home. Maybe he would see that home one day. By her account it was nothing special. A barren windswept island with a dangerous reef full of shipwrecks, and undead sailors washing up all the time. Odd he thought, Prudences parents had so many children they would cast out one that was different. His mother had loved him and protected him her whole life, even when she conceived him it was calculated to protect him. When she died he felt a profound loss, but he had so many in the Fist that were his foster fathers that it was not devastating. Then duty took over and he had to uphold the family name. Life was strange. None of her family had better try to hurt Prudence. That would not be a pleasant scene. He wouldn't hurt them, she wouldn't like that, but he made one hell of an obstacle when he wanted to.
Anna Morphling (Hugh C) -- AC 27/14/24- HP 66/66 -- CMD 17 Thursday May 25th, 2017 7:40:09 AM
Anna wonders what it must be like to actually know one's parents let alone have all those siblings. She was a foundling given to the citadel with little more than a scrap of paper scribbled, "Anna Morphe."
Technically Anna thinks she became a child of Queen Ma'ab when she was accepted as a Morphling and her lady gave her the new surname Morphling. She thinks back to the half-elf Druidess who raised her, Kara Greeneleaf and wonders what her mentor is up to these days. Anna would like to catch up with Kara at some point and let the half-elf know about how she had changed. She would also like to learn more about the Morphes maybe she did have some kin out there?

Shane P Michael Wittman AC22, T18, FF16 (ucdodge) HP766/70 Me+12(8)10 for TW, R+12, CMB+11, CMD+22 Thursday May 25th, 2017 6:17:58 PM F E S T I V I T I E S....I think.... Michale says absently. Pru does have a large family. Michael never really had a family. Bennie the Knife was the leader of the cell, and he was always concentrating so hard on keeping them alive that there was little time for a young halfling. Vera, the closest thing he ever had to a mother, was not cut out to be a mother, a cutpurse and thief sure, but not a mom. he had brothers of a sort. older rogues that participated in the failed attempt. Loric, he always smiled and often had treats for Micheal. but he died on their 5th move, delaying the secret police so the group could get away. Dalron, dour, frowning, but he taught Michael how to use a blade and where to cut someone to make them bleed. He died with the rest of his cell after their 20th move. Michael hasn't thought of them for years. Suddenly Memories flood him. all the precious and rare good times. the laughter, the jokes. the rare moments of love when they weren't working....as they travel Michael realizes that these memories can't be pushed to the back as he focuses on watching for trouble. He lets someone else take the lead and hangs back near the middle...digging up bones...
