Too Quiet... - [DM Hugh]

Tink says she suspects a trap and suggests someone tougher take the lead.

Sesha agrees with Tink and flies in slow circles around the party's resident minotaurs to indicate who she thinks should take point.

Wyaar looks at Sesha and says that even though Restlin got a melee kill that doesn't mean he should go first, casts protection from energy [acid] on himself and prepares to move out towards the front.

Garret moves with Wyaar favoring moving over the pools that Tink walled off.

Restlin lets loose a pun about how he rocked it pretty hard and then prepares to take a position in the middle of the pack flying high.

Zane takes the lead going in a semi-bee line towards the sphincter door trying to dodge flying directly over a pool.

Beri dodges out of the way of the sputtering acid and suggests getting out of the room.

Bosk makes sure his protection from energy is still active and activates his blink ring before flying above were he thinks the acid might splash.

The group flies out in the following order Zane, Wyaar, Garret, Restlin, Sesha, Tink, Beri and Bosk. Between using Tink's force walls and flying above what the range of the splashing pool seems to be based on Beri's experience the group is able to make it over to the Sphincter door at the far side of the room and get it open.

The sphincter-door opens and leads to another intestine-tunnel. It winds back and forth for about 250 feet with its own gnashing mouths. The group is able to continue flying down the winding intestine tunnels avoiding the mouths using the tactics they've developed for avoidance. It ends at yet another new sphincter door. What could lay beyond this organic portal?

"You did well, Restlin," Wyaar says at the elbowing with a straight face, "no one will ever say we take your efforts for granite."

And then on down the intestines they go! As usual now he moves towards the door and detects evil through it to get an idea of what might be beyond.

Not sure how much time has passed but he will refresh his fly spell from his boots if need be too.

"So, we went through the throat, the stomach, then some intestine...so there should be a colon through that sphincter, right? I hope not. There's not enough lavender in the world to come back from that."

He waits for his friends to detect whatever it is they feel they need to detect, but he's ready to move on.

I'm not sure how accurate this thing is to any creature we are familiar with... but I would assume we are getting close to the head. Anyone know how long we've been in here, I want to make sure I'm keeping an eye on my active spells.

Beri maintains his spot in the marching order, and following Zane's lead prepares to dodge is needed.

Bosk stops the group from moving forward and prevents Zane from opening he door. Before we move forward we need to carefully consider where we are and what lays on the other side. Assuming this thing progresses like your average humanoid there are several sphincters. The upper and lower esophageal sphincters. The cardia (lower esophageal sphincter), or cardiac sphincter, at the upper portion of the stomach. This sphincter prevents the acidic contents of the stomach from moving upward into the esophagus. The pyloric sphincter, at the lower end of the stomach. The ileocecal sphincter at the junction of the small intestine (ileum) and the large intestine, which functions to limit the reflux of colonic contents back into the ileum. And the anus where there are two sphincters which control the exit of feces from the body (see internal anal sphincter and external anal sphincter). The inner sphincter is involuntary and the outer is voluntary.

From what I can tell we entered through the lower and are making our way towards the esophogaus. The gore children would then be in either the rectum or the large intestine. Next is the small intestine, which I think we just passed through to get to the room with the acid, which I think was a stomach. If we were not careful we might have been digested. If I am correct then we are about to enter the esophagus and will be soon exiting the mouth. We might want to discuss what lies ahead of us. A tongue that can taste us? A nose that can smell us? Massive teeth? Can we communicate with this thing? will exiting through here cause it to gag and try to swallow us or wash us down with water? We might not want to just charge forth. What if we exit only to find it under the mosterologer's control? I do not want to fight this thing.

Restlin, any chance you can try occupying this thing and tell us what it is and what lays outside of it? Beri,
do you have any druid tricks for communicating with city sized monsters?

(OOC: As far as timing goes it has been roughly 48 and a half minutes since you entered the station originally. 10 minutes before 1st chamber 18.5 dealing with first chamber, 20 minutes since 1st chamber)

Wyaar continues the rock pun and tells the mage priest no one will take him for granite. Wyaar turns his evil detecting powers on the new sphincter door and like the last chamber he does not detect any auras.

Garret tries to listen for any sound on the other side of the door but once again everything is silent.

Restlin responds positively to Wyaar's pun and then tries to place themselves in Soma's anatomy relatively speaking. He cracks a joke about there not being enough Lavender in the world if the colon is on the other side of the door.

Zane suggests they started the opposite side that Restlin suggested and prepares to cycle the door.

Beri points out that this thing may be different than any other creature's anatomy, asks how long the group has been in Soma and maintains his spot in the order.

Tink stays to the side of the door.

Bosk stops Zane from cycling the door and being the student of anatomy that he is gives a detailed description of anatomy placing what they've been moving through in context of standard anatomy. He suggests they could be moving towards an esophagus or a mouth and states he does not want to fight the base. He asks Restlin if he can attempt to figure out what lays outside and Beri if he has a way to druidically communicate with the base.

You are stopped outside of a shut sphincter door due to Bosk's concerns. From your own evil detecting and listening efforts it would appear there is nothing evil and nothing you can hear on the other side of the door. It is quite possible the next chamber is as empty as the last, however it is also possible there is a stealthy undetectable alignment ambush lying in wait. It is a schrodinger's cat situation in that until you actually open the door or devise a way to perceive what is in the next chamber you won't truly know for sure what is inside.

Restlin blinks a bit. Bosk was asking him to magic jar this whole place. That's pretty huge. Impossible since he didn't have the spell prepared anymore, but a good idea nonetheless.

He shakes his head. "Sorry, buddy. I had to use two of those spells because somebody evidently can't hit a giant space whale with a little crystal. Think we're just gonna have to push through and hope we're not all slaughtered mercilessly."

Sesha stops again, and holds up a hand as if considering stopping everyone, then shakes her head. The changes to her powers were swimming in her head. She wasn't sure if it was Jericho space, Serenbeth, or some other effect, but NOW she was different for sure.

"Well, here goes nothing."

Grabbing her belt dagger, Sesha runs a jagged cut across her palm. She squeezes the blood in her fist, then traces a small rune along the inside of her arm before casting her next spell, Protection from Spells.

Surrender blood: Raise Sesha's caster level by 4. (Normally a spell, turned into an SLA thanks to minor spell expertise, from the WLA.)

Protection from Spells: Cast at CL 23.

I don't think there is much I can do at this point, I don't know the creature's language. It' possible I could get some empathy from it, but it's unlikely it would help... It can't exactly choose not to perform biological functions like digest.

Beri makes sure the four huge elementals and the greater elemental that spawned from his swarm are ready as well, let's them know to fly above the teeth, and is ready.

Zane prepares to let someone else open the door so he can be prepared for what is next.

Restlin explains to Bosk that he can't magic jar the whole place because he doesn't have the spell prepared anymore because someone couldn't hit a giant space whale with a tiny crystal.

Garret elbows Zane when Restlin mentions somebody and tells the minotaur that he thinks Restlin was talking about him.

Sesha feels the change to her powers catching up with her again and holds up a hand while she draws a dagger and draws some blood to draw a rune to boost her caster level with the surrender self spell like ability. She then casts protection from spells at CL 23.

Bosk quaffs a potion of cat's grace.

Wyaar knocks an arrow waiting for the door to open.

Beri explains to Bosk that he doesn't know what he could do with the station. He could probably get some empathy from it but he probably couldn't convince it not to perform biological functions like digestion. (OOC: when did you cast a new swarm? All the elementals got sent home fighting the gore children)

Tink counts down from 3 and opens the sphincter door to reveal an organ-chamber that appears to continue to curve like the tunnel. A wall some thirty feet away blocks most of the chamber, but another section continues around the curve.

The floor and walls are covered in small purple polyps. They vary in size, but are generally about six inches tall.

You currently see no enemies like the previous chamber before it.

Sesha takes a quick glance around the room. She reaches up and adjusts her eyepatch, then as an afterthought removes it. It wasn't needed anymore.

"No Sesha, not all Pirates have eye patches.... but those that don't usually have either a peg leg or a hook hand. Of course I've seen some pirates that were quite handy with that hook.... and their false leg was usually for more than just walking on too.... Hidden weapons, hidden compartments, and not necessarily made from wood either."
With the important conversation done, Zane follows after Tink, about 20' back... "Tink, left me know how far you've gone so I can back you up...."

Well Bosk I think some sell body parts they have spares of. I don't know what an eye goes for, but I hear most ships you can get a buck-an-ear.
Beri's psychic link is suddenly filled with one or two giggle and a lot of groans.

Anyway, this room is interesting. What organ do you suppose this is?
Beri takes out his gem of true seeing and gives a quick glance around to see if there is anything more to the room then meets the eye(second chunk of 5 minutes) . He then tries to think whether he's seen organs like this in another animal, and how similar polyps would tend to respond to various stimuli.

(OOC: Posting this again: As far as timing goes it has been roughly 48 and a half minutes since you entered the station originally. 10 minutes before 1st chamber 18.5 dealing with first chamber, 25 minutes since 1st chamber; battle 1 occurred in the first chamber and the first 10 minutes were the boat thing and the last 8.5 includes the battle; I tacked on 5 minutes since my first post as Beri wants to take 5 minutes to use his gem)

Sesha takes a look around the room, she goes to adjust her eyepatch but just ends up removing it before casting detect poison on one of the polyps and it does indeed radiate as poison
Sesha - Wisdom DC 20 or Craft[alchemy] 20 : Highlight to display spoiler: { inhalation - Fort Save 25 or suffer from the effects of confusion spell for 1 round. Spores hover in air for 1 round after being released }

Tink takes a look around and carefully avoids the polyps. She rounds the corner and sees that the room continues in wide curves back and forth but it is still empty save for another sphincter door all the way in the back.

Garret questions as to whether Sesha had a good eye under her eye patch the whole time and if it was just for looks.

Sesha responds that it was necessary as all pirates have eye patches.

Zane contributes to the exchange between Sesha and Garret with what the Taur has learned of pirates in his travels and the utility of their hooks, peg legs and eye patches. He then follows 20 feet behind Tink.

Wyaar fights the urge to shoot a polyp while he remains by the door.

Restlin asks about why pirates have missing limbs and if piracy is worth losing a foot over.

Beri adds that he thinks pirates sell their extra organs and he doesn't know how much an eye goes for but most ships the going rate is a buck an ear. He then examines the room and tries to figure out what this organ could be and how the polyps might react to stimuli.

Bosk waits and watches asking the others how long it has been since they fought the Gorechildren.

Beri: Highlight to display spoiler: { The druid can't place what this organ could be but it is quite possible it could just be a vestigial organ expanded to create a room. As for the polyps he thinks any strenuous activity in the vicinity of the polyps could cause them to react. }

Once again the Iron Dragons have found themselves in an empty room, this time it contains polyps to contend with. Where could everyone be? That first chamber had a number of critters in it why would the next two be empty? Curiouser and Curiouser...

"Maybe that earthquake was really a bowel quake. Maybe all the bad guys are floating away in Jericho space."

His fly spell expired, Restlin walks along the horrible, horrible squishy ground. He's glad his snazy outfit resists getting dirty, but still.

He starts towards the door on the other end. Unlike most of the Dragons, he's on foot. He tries to stay as far away from the polyps as possible.

"Careful. There's poison on these polyps. It's an inhaled kind too, it will make you all sorts of confused. They remind me of the mushrooms we had in the underground caverns of It'lal. Sometimes just one erupting would erupt the others around it."

She thinks a moment.

"Look, there's not been any resistance since Beri's earthquake. I'm starting to think the whole place knows we are here and is waiting for us with it's resources pooled together. It might be prudent to set these things off now, on purpose in a controlled fashion, in case we have to fall back here."

She waits for the others to give an opinion.

In the meantime, she starts fussing with peoples armor. The magic in her brain was all different, and for some reason, she realized now that she could probably help some people out.

Magic Vestment spells start flying all willy nilly.

Bosk: On shield - 17 hour duration, replaces +2 enhancement with +5 enhancement. (Net +3 AC)

Beri: On armor - 17 hour duration, replaces +1 enhancement with +5 enhancement. (Net +4 AC)

Tink: On maybe armor or shield? No sheet access. 17 hour duration, replaces a lower enhancement with +5 enhancement. (Net +? AC) (Sesha wont bother if your armor and shields are already +4 or higher)

Sesha: On Celestial armor. - 17 hour duration, replaces +3 enhancement with +5 enhancement. (Net +2 AC)

Hmm, I can't quite place this thing... I don't think it's actually a functional part of the digestive trace. It's almost like an appendix would be, a vestigial organ that they manipulated for use as another chamber. As for the polyps, they don't look particularly stable. I'd avoid strenuous activity near the polyps, otherwise they could react and I don't want to find out what's inside those things.

Then the druid notices Restlin on the ground walking... the ground that is continually plagued by random teeth.

That won't do, come here farther away from those polyps and I'll cast air walk on you... unless someone happens to have another fly spell.
Making sure they are both far enough away from the polyps that nothing will set them off, Beri casts air walk on Restlin (170 minute duration).

Bosk thanks Sesha for her help as he considers the problem. I can run across and see what happens. My resistance is probably one of the higher ones in the group. Otherwise we can try teleporting to the other side... ... ...Wait, if is is inhalation based how about just holding our breath as we cross?

Garret eyes the blobs and then carefully flies around and between following after Tink.

Restlin suggests maybe the earth quake was a bowel quake and all the inhabitants of the station are floating in Jericho Space. He too follows after Tink but on foot as his fly spell expired.

Zane continues to fly giving Tink room to do her stuff.

Sesha warns the others to be careful of the inhaled poison of the polyps and that she is reminded of the mushrooms from It'lal. She also suggests setting off the polyps on the off chance that the enemy knows they are there and are pooling resources in case the Iron Dragons need to fall back to this room. She then begins using her changed magic to help the party as she waits for the opinions of others.

Beri tells the others what he knows of the new organ and warns the others against strenuous activity near the polyps. He notices Restlin hoofing it and hits the mage priest with an air walk spell so he doesn't have to walk on the ground.

Bosk thanks Sesha for her help and then offers to run across to trigger the polyps or maybe they should teleport. He also suggests maybe just holding their breath.

The Iron Dragons are still in the bizarre polyped organ. Tink, Zane and Garret are near the exit area while everyone else is towards the entrance. The team is currently debating how best to handle the polyps in the chamber and proceed towards exploring Soma further. The next move belongs to the Iron Dragons. The only things they have to contend with are the polyps and the far sphincter door.

Get impatient with talking and charge forward without a plan, the usual tactic I see. The horned cleric takes a deep breath and holds it before and possibly can get to him and telepathically exciting the others to do the same. He then flies cats air walk and floors over to join the others.
