"I can sneak, when i want. Most times, I don't wanna." - DM Mark d100=27 d100=82 Tuesday July 18th, 2017 12:25:13 AM
The elders mention sneaking, and Edson’s ears perk up. He tells Brom and Barratore they’ll need to be like him.
Brom says he can sneak, and is ready to go.
Velarin suggests that everyone get healed up, and he asks those that can heal to do so.
In response Evaris casts Lesser Restoration, and then uses a Wand of Lesser Restoration to restore 4 points of Emrys’ Dexterity. He hesitates using it further until he sees what others will do.
The elders regard you seriously. Sense Motive DC 15:Highlight to display spoiler: {The elders are rather nervous, but try not to appear so.}
“We are thankful that the Serenbeth has sent you in this our hour of need.” “Yes, our faith was not misplaced.” “But should go, but that one is right. You should restore yourselves first.”

Barratore sheathes his sword and looks to the others, "I'm ready to move as soon as any of you, but folks are going to hear me coming, unless one of you can apply some magic"

"I'm ready to go." - DM Mark d20+25=35 ; d20+25=42 ; Thursday July 20th, 2017 12:42:11 AM
Edson says he is ready to go, as he shifts from foot to foot. Evaris puts his wand away, announcing he is also ready to go. One of the elders says, “You know, if you two have to go that badly there is a privy hole over there.” He gestures to an alcove.
Velarin summons two potions from his haversack and drinks them. His wounds vanish.
Emrys reaches for a Ley Line, but the magic eludes him. He speaks of vegetables as he rummages through his bag. He finds a wand and cures himself, though he is still a bit clumsy.
The large minotaur looks around, and then drinks a Darkvision potion. Brom follows suit and also drinks a Darkvision potion. Things look the same for now though, thanks to Baslim’s bright light gleaming from his staff.
Lanliss holds the glowing Heart and says, “Come on,let's go!”
“Since you are ready, you should go now. We will stay and try to delay any attacks here. That may divert attention from you.” “You must go, but go with care.” “Thank you for helping us.” “Yes, we are in your debt.” “The heart must be placed on the altar in Glitterox. Zemos here will take you and explain.” “Go with the Sister’s blessing.” “Yes, with the Sister’s blessing.” “The Sisters’ blessing on you.” “The Sisters’ blessing on us! We’re the ones staying here as decoys.” “Quit complaining Booges. You’re always complaining.” “You know, you say that a lot Jaerkal, but I would just like to point out that now you’re the one complaining.” “Shut up Booges.” “Hurry back Zemos.”
The one they referred to as Zemos moves to an unremarkable part of the wall, and moves a stone, opening a secret door. The tunnel before you is narrow and dark as he enters, but the light from Baslim’s staff shines in. Poor Barratore will need to squeeze as he goes, but this is not a problem - just annoying.
You proceed down this tunnel for about 15 minutes to a dead end. Zemos asks Baslim to get rid of that light, as it will give you all away. Zemos waits. How does Baslim douse the light on his staff? (Baslim is curiously quiet.)
Once Baslim gets rid of the bright light, Zemos waits for your eyes to adjust, and then he reaches out and moves a stone, and a boulder slides aside to reveal an opening to an outcropping where the landscape of many tunnels and caverns come and go from an absolutely huge cavern! All here is lit by dim illumination. The heroes can see a ceiling, but it is nearly a mile overhead. Likewise, they can vaguely see walls somewhere in the distance, but only because they rise above the horizon; the cavern must be 20-50 miles across! And about 10 miles away is a squat volcano-shaped mountain that is very familiar to the heroes; it is an exact twin of Glitterox!
Shadows flit about the great cavern, though it looks like the tail-end of a great army is going into dozens of other corridors and tunnels.
Zemos looks shocked. He says in a low voice. “Oh no. This is worse than we thought. The shadow creatures are moving through the tunnels towards the Zherr and Ghittt. I must return to the elders so we can do what we may to protect our people. You will need to go to the Glitterox.” He gestures to the volcano-shaped mountain. “Find an entrance at the base - there are several. In there you will find an altar, in the center, and it is there you must place the Krystal Heart. When you get there, see what is happening. You are people of action, but do not be too hasty. Use thought and care. Watch for tricks and traps.”
“Sarenbeth be with you.”
Unless you have questions, he leaves and the boulder he moved rolls back into place. All you hear are whispers in the shadowy light, far away from you. A gravel path winds before you out into this shadowy realm of rocks and boulders. Shadows flit overhead.

As the elder leaves, Edson makes to head out. Before he goes, Velarin uses his Wand of Darkvision to make Edson and anyone else can see in the dark. Velarin considered casting Invisibility on himself.
Brom positions Lanliss and the Krystal Heart in the middle of the group. Lanliss is a bit apparent, even in the middle, holding the glowing crystal. Barratore allows others to move out, taking a read guard position.
Baslim laments his inability to sneak.
Evaris thinks it will be difficult to actually sneak over 10 miles.
Velarin asks if anyone can easily move the group over 10 miles, since he can only Teleport 5 of you. Evaris offers to cast Wind Walk on 5 of the group to help with this, though it will not be as fast as Teleport.
Emrys casts Sculpt Sound on everyone, silencing their armor.
(Your DM is confused about what you are doing. Some are heading out? One may be Invisible? Who is Teleporting, who is Wind Walking, and where? Bear in mind that with Wind Walk, it takes 5 rounds to shift into or out of a vaporous state. I find that planning can be done via email, and then the proposed actions posted in the game.)
As you look across this huge cavern, you see a flash and the sounds of battle here and there echo from the edges of the cavern, though none of these battles are near this replica of Glitterox. It’s likely that Zherr and Ghitt are dying, and perhaps some of the shadows here as well.

Lanliss decides to hide the Krystal Heart in a Handy Haversack. Now all he needs is a Handy Haversack. Evaris offers his Haversack for this purpose.
Brom is ready to move out on foot.
Evaris advocates for much faster movement via magic. Velarin agrees.
Emrys suggests a shadowy path. He hides the Krystal Heart with a Misdirection spell, and then casts Detect Scrying. Emrys does not detect any scrying at this time.
Standing in the dim light, the party sees a dim flash here, and a green ray there as things happen elsewhere. The shadowy light here almost seems alive, but not in a good way. This cavern has a dry, metallic smell to it.

After a bit of hemming & hawing, a strong suggestion from Brom prompts general agreement that haste, for the moment, is more important than safety. Or, rather, haste on your part is probably best for everyone else's safety.
Rather than splitting the party between Velarin'sTeleport and Evaris'Wind Walk, you elect to stay together, and Emrys casts Shadow Walk, drawing all of you to the fringes of that realm.
Understanding that time and distance work differently here, you figure it should take less than 10 minutes for you to walk to Glitterox. The features of the Krystal Palace pocket dimension swirl past; twice you think you see a shadow creature take notice of you and turn to follow your group, only to be left behind before it can chase you along the edge of the Shadow Lands.

Although brief, your second jaunt through the Shadow Lands in as many days seems yet to stretch on.
In the distance, you see faint flashes from spells and other magical effects, barely discernable from the swirl of Shadow and fog. The fact you can even see the battle from the edge of the Shadow Lands means things are still picking up.
V focuses on the interminable tick of his own mental clock, indicating to Emrys when he calculates the correct amount of time has passed. With a motion, Evaris edges the group on another twenty feet, before Emrys himself judges the spot correct, and leads the group back through to the Krystal Palace.
You are very much on-mark, and the beautiful and forebodingly Shadowed mirror of Glitterox looms above you. You realize with a look around that you walked a bit past the volcanic mountain, so that it sits between you and the heaviest of the fighting now.
The terrain is a blend of carved and naturally sculpted stone, and the ever-present orange gems cast dim illumination. The whole area around you feels wrong. Not malignant, entirely, but lurking with the promise of dark and unpleasant trials.
The base of the mountain is about 200 feet in front of you. You're almost directly in line with a pitch-black tunnel leading into Glitterox.
Lanliss stays focused on keeping the Crystal hidden, but you are clearly interlopers here, and even as you start, unbothered, toward the mountain, you can feel the shadows begin to take notice of you.
In the distance you hear the sounds of heavy battle, echoing now around the chamber.
Knowledge (dungeoneering/engineering) DC 15: Highlight to display spoiler: {The battle has moved into the far tunnels... there is still fighting going on in the cavern at the edge of the tunnels, but the Zerr & Ghitt are losing ground.}
All around shadows flit through the air, along the walls and across the cavern floor. They are fewer you can see now, spread out, and mostly heading toward the engaged battle, but the closest shadows appear to shift and deepen, and off to your left you see clear movement of one, then two, three..? Shadow Animals, turning and heading your way, a good 350ft or so away maybe.

The unknown speaker continues, "Hah! yes, just make sure you can handle them, Ger-""Shadow Lord! I am the Shadow Lord! I embraced the shadows you sent, passed your test" he hisses, "And they are mine now! I will wrench the Heart Crystal from the lifeless hands of the Council, and when these 'heroes' of yours are cold at my feet, you will address me properly before a single shadow steps foot in the Valley in your name! Or... hm. Perhaps I will take the soft, lush lands for myself, and..." "Deal with the Keepers of the Vale, and we will speak more of your reward. For now, this little realm is yours - put it to good use, and you may be granted more."

But here was not the place. Flow with the battle, but not recklessly. That was Brom's job, but the barbarian could survive a mistake or two. His friend may not be as lucky.

(We are currently experiencing technical difficulties - please stand by.)
Heart of the Matter (DM Damarr) Friday August 4th, 2017 6:59:47 PM
Making final preparations, you creep into the Shadow Lord's stolen throne room.
The chamber before you is on a smaller scale than the cavern housing this replica of Glitterox, but it is massive, still. In the center, on a raised dais, sits a stone altar. Moulded in spiralling curvature from the raised steps below, the many gems inlaid throughout the altar are emphasized with the most delicate carvings you've ever seen. As you draw closer, you can see a raised structure designed to hold the precious crystal Lanliss carries in a Handy Haversack.
Floating in the air next to the altar is the Shadow Lord. He appears as the other Zerr or Ghitt, but his skin is pitch black, and he is draped in the finest attire either culture has to offer. The shadows appear to flow around him, nearly as an extension of his movements.
Behind the Shadow Lord you see a small, shadowy portal. Before your approach is noticed, and the portal winks out of existence, you get a glimpse of the hideously scarred visage of a human man in his late middle years. The man's face and hands are marked from some affliction, and he is mostly bald with only strands of long gray hair scattered about his head. Behind the man, the head of a huge red dragon can be seen, eyes like glowing coals and smoke rising from its mouth.
"Ah yes, finally. Come to join me in the shadows, have you?" The Shadow Lord calls, spinning in the air to face you.
Coalescing from shadowy places around the amphitheater, 6 Shadowed Heroes and 4 Shadowed Mystics coalesce and move towards the Altar in defense of the Shadow Lord.
Two tattoos on each of the Shadowed Heroes glow as they take position around the platform.
Spellcraft DC 19: Highlight to display spoiler: {They each activated a spell-like ability for Heroism & Protection from Good, apparently powered by the tattoos.}
And the Glitterox Map, with much thanks to DM Mark for setting it up.
The green swath on the first tab shows the path of your entrance to Glitterox. Note the 10ft squares on that map.
The next tab is 5ft squares, showing the Mystics & Heroes as you close on the altar. Feel free to adjust your position before taking your first round of actions, but please bring it up via email if there's any serious contention with the party's overall direction of approach.
I just wanted to move us along a bit after delaying the game. All enemies have concealment in the prevailing darkness. Darkvision does not overcome this (it's based on the presence of light/shadows, not your ability to see through darkness).
Please move yourselves on the map. Let me know if there's any questions.

Evaris casts Dayllight on his hammer and moves forward cautiously.
With no such trepidation, Brom & Barratore rush to confront the shadow warriors facing the heroes, Hastened by Velarin's spell.
Though each unerringly lands a staggering blow on Shadow Zerrighitt Hero 6, the creature remains standing.
Lanliss closes carefully behind the Bash Bros, still carrying the Crystal Heart, while Edson posts up and misses Hero 4 with a few arrows. (low rolls; you can hit it on an average run)
After a few quick directives from the Battle Mage known as V, Emrys casts a familiar Quickened Slow on the enemy, affecting H4, (H's: 23, 22, 17, Fort saves; M's: 21, 22; SL: 27) and drops a Glitterdust spell on H5, H6, & M3 (it's 20ft diameter, H4 is at least 25ft from M3 & H6), and The Shephard Baslim erects a 5ft wall across the battlefield.
Good move from the princely bard, though, as M2 casts a spell on H3, and the Hero disappears, although most of you probably can't see that anyway, thanks to the wall, but the same tactic doesn't work on this side after the explosion of sparkles. Spellcraft DC 25 + line of sight to M2: Highlight to display spoiler: {Greater Invisibility}.
The Shadow Heroes on your side of the wall step forward to engage Brom & Barratore (H5, Glitterdusted, provokes an AoO from Barratore as he moves through the fighter's reach). And you see the Shadow Lord rise through the air over the wall (he's about 20ft up now).
SL casts a spell Spellcraft DC 20: Highlight to display spoiler: {Mind Fog}, and a thin, purplish cloud of shadows settles over the front line of the Keepers (purple outlined area on the map). Barratore, Brom & Lanliss Will save 21 or take -10 on future Will saves & Wisdom checks. Anyone entering the cloud needs to make the same save.
Following that, the 2 Mystics on your side of the wall each cast the same spell on Barratore and Brom. Spellcraft 19: Highlight to display spoiler: {Hold Monster.}. Bash Bros make a Will save DC 20 or be paralyzed (penalty from Mind Fog applies if you failed that save).
"One way or another, you will join the Shadows!" Laughs the Shadow Lord, as his guardians continue their attack.
H6 makes a full attack on Brom, dual-wielding shaped stone longswords. He hits twice (27 & 24), for 12 & 8 damage.
H4 & H5 miss Barratore with all but one attack, (nat 20 vs AC 34), which doesn't confirm but does 7 damage.
H1 moves a smidge closer and draws a Shortbow, which he uses to send an arrow toward Edson (miss vs AC 22).
H2 charges Edson and makes a full attack against the rogue (yes, they can do that). He misses with all but the last swing, wihich is a crit (nat 20 vs AC 36) confirmed vs AC 32 for 23 damage.
M2, after casting his spell on the still not-visible H3, moves to put the party within his line of sight.
M1 begins casting a spell. Spellcraft DC 19: Highlight to display spoiler: {Summon Monster IV}.

Heart of the Matter (DM Damarr) Sunday August 13th, 2017 2:55:04 PM
Great job folks. You're an excellent group of players & I wish I had the chops/RL management skills to hang a little tighter with you. DM post is in-progress, currently recapping last round - I apologize for slowing our game so significantly. Life changes have swamped me beyond my normal means to deal (some things planned, others unexpected, opportunities & setbacks in overwhelming abundance). After I finish this post I'm reaching out to the PTB & our lead DM Mark to keep us moving through this final combat and set some plans so we stay on track.

Suffering the penalties of the Shadow Lord's Mind Fog, Lanliss steps out of the spell's area and attempt to blend into the shadows (you take -10 on Will Saves & Wis Checks for 8 more rounds unless the effect is removed with magic).
Brom heroically shakes off the Mind Fog & Hold Monster spells cast on him, and steps between H5 & H6, trusting in his battlefield awareness to deny them benefits of flanking. He lands two solid blows on H4 (that enemy is 15ft from Brom; do you have reach? Did you mean to say H5? I just put the damage on the one you said, since you also rolled vs Concealment & H4 is the only one by you that's not Glitterdusted).
V spots the Greater Invisibility going off and calls out a warning to the others, before stepping up and hitting M3, M4, H4, H5, H6, & SL with a Chain Lightning.
You notice all but the Shadow Lord dodge the brunt of the bolts (Should be DC 20 for all but initial target M3, correct? Heroes Ref: 24, 21, 25. Mystics: 22, 32. SL: 19). Although the boss is the most singed, he still appears to resist some of the damage, and the others are minimally affected.
Barratore hits H5 with a mighty blow (AoO from last round), makes his saves against the mind-affecting spells, and lays into the enemy with a fearsome below. Both H5 & H6 fall beneath the minotaur's blade.
((OOC: Your attack/damage numbers aren't very clear, noting that all of those numbers are around 30 average. I can't tell what's a crit confirmation roll & what's an extra damage roll if the crit confirmed, or even how many attacks were made from the post itself... not sure what the last string of numbers is so I didn't put the last attack toward H4, although all your % rolls are good. Is that a 96 dmg crit confirmed vs AC 28 at the end?))
Evaris carries the Daylight spell forward on his hammer, and hits M3 & M4 with the Holy Word of Pantheon. (re-centered your spell to catch M4 since H5 & H6 are dead now, and H4 is Slowed & wounded). M3 fails his save with a Nat 1 and is blinded and deafened. M4 makes the save with a Nat 20 and is Blinded.
The bright light negates the concealment of M4, M3, H4, & H3 (who only Emrys can see).
Emrys resists the effects of the Mind Fog, which he quickly Dispels, and casts True Seeing on himself to spot the invisible H3, who is now marked on the map in a lighter shade of red.
Baslim creates another Stone Wall, perpendicular to the first, further splitting the enemy forces.
Edson takes a gamble and throws his bow at H2, overcoming the creature's DC 27 with the clever feint. All of the rogue's attacks hit the Hero's Flat-Footed AC of 21, but the Shadow Blend ability fouls your first swing. (rolled your 6d6 SA, for 27, 38, & 20 damage; rolled your miss chance % for 15 (miss), 93, & 59%).
Round 3 Enemy Actions:
H4, last visible Hero standing on your side of the wall, takes a 5ft step and hits Brom vs AC 34 for 11 damage with his single Slowed action (maybe fibbed this one a little like Brom did his last attack... balanced partiality is fair?).
H2 takes a 5ft step to Edson's side, as H3 (still invisible) charges him from behind. Both make a full-attack on the rogue (no flanking bonus). H2 hits Edson once vs AC 34 for 10 damage. H3 hits twice vs AC 37 & 35, confirming the latter critical threat vs AC 31 for 29 more damage. (forgot +2 invis bonus in attack rolls).
M4, Blind, casts Greater Invisibility on himself, and Emrys can see the Mystic move to Baslim's wall and closer to the battle.
M3, Blind and Deaf, overcomes his difficulty with the verbal components (72%) and casts a spell, causing the stone floor to rise up in front him, creating a, 5ft wide, 15ft tall wall stretching far to the left and right. It envelopes Baslim's wall, standing as a larger obstacle between you and the enemy.
At two points on the wall, swirling shadow portals form, revealing not the other side of the wall, but the clawing limbs of some otherworldly monsters (portals noted by blue squares in the wall). Spellcraft DC 20: Highlight to display spoiler: {The spell he cast was Mirage Arcana}.
M1, finishing his spell, summons 3 Dretch Demons, who appear on top of Baslim's 5ft wall, and immediately fill your side of the wall with three Stinking Clouds, each 40ft across. I started laying templates, but that's a pain. Centered on the Green SC squares, you all have to make DC 13 Fort save or be nauseated. Enemy makes their saves.
After last round's spell goes off, M1 uses his full 40ft movement to reach H1, who becomes invisible after the former casts a spell. Emrys can see H1 (now a lighter red; invisible) clamber over the wall and move closer. Save made vs nausea.
M2 climbs atop Baslim's wall and begins a Bardic Performance.
The Shadow Lord floats closer to the action, still hovering 20ft from the ground, and casts Dominate Person on Lanliss, knowing the rogue failed his save vs the Mind Fog. Lanliss must now make a DC 21 Will save (with the -10 penalty), or fall under the Shadow Lord's mental control.
(Shadow Lord & all Shadowed Zerrighitt are listed as N Medium Outsiders, so Prot v Evil doesn't effect them. I probably should've been clearer about that earlier. Mark made mention of it to me before combat, but I didn't think to bring it up before it came up. Haven't been around enough. If there is serious contention about it say so & I'll rework it.)
Shadow Lord: 34 damage. 20% Concealment Miss Chance. Flying 20ft.
Evaris (Kathy) [HP 92/93] [AC 20; Touch 13; FF 18] d20+11=12 ; d20+8=9 ; d20+8=12 ; Sunday August 13th, 2017 7:38:55 PM Evaris attempts to bring the Daylight closer to the Shadow Lord, which takes him through one of the Stinking Clouds. But the choking cloud is to much for him, and he begins to gasp and retch.
[Needed to roll a 5 on that save. Rolled a 1. Used a Hero Point to re-roll, and rolled a 4.]
[OOC: I'm pretty sure Protection from Evil prevents mental control, even against non-evil sources.]
[OOC: Damarr: "The barrier [Prot v Evil] moves with the subject and has three major effects....
...Second. . . While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target....
....This second effect only functions against spells and effects created by evil creatures or objects, subject to GM discretion." I think that "subject to DM discretion is a "Evil deities are powerful enough to possess a level 1 Cleric protected by Prot v Evil." clause, not really related to this instance, where the caster is not evil (but your DM may have lead you to believe he's evil in a lack of forethought).]

(I placed the Stinking Clouds on the board. The radius is only 20’, so I relocated them accordingly. Also, bear in mind that a Stinking Cloud obscures vision like a Fog Cloud, meaning creatures within 5’ have concealment and a 20% miss chance, creatures more than 5’ have total concealment and a 50% miss chance. I know that may change some spells, but let’s just move forward from here.)
Evaris makes a heroic move, charging into the stinking cloud to bring Daylight near the Shadow Lord. In doing so, the cleric succumbs to the cloud and is nauseated, unable to do much more than move.
Shepherd Baslim calls forth a Holy Smite. One of the shadow fighters saves, the other is blinded.
Barratore Steelwind lives up to his name and lashes out at the shadowed warrior near him. Bathed in the light from Evaris’ hammer, his blows land true and the creature falls.
Lanliss withdraws from combat.
Brom moves, and activates Invisibility Purge.
Evaris casts Glitterdust on H1 and Charm Person on H3. Both save. (For future casting of spells, he may need to move out of the Stinking Cloud to see his target.)
Velarin pulls a scroll from his Haversack (move action) and calls down an empowered Fireball on those on the wall. The three Dretchs get all crispy and fall from the wall dead. The Shadow Lord saves, and takes 27 damage (your math was off a bit.)
Then the Shadow Lord then sinks behind that 15’ wall.
H1 moves forward through the mist to attack Brom. He sees through the concealing mist, and hits the Barbarian for 15 damage.
H2 moves 5’ and attacks Brom as well, hitting him 3 times for 11, 11 and 13 damage.
H3 is blinded, but also lashes out at Brom, missing him all 4 times.
M1 takes an action you cannot see.
M2 casts Crushing Despair from atop the wall. Barratore and Evaris must make a DC 19 Will save or take a -2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, ability checks, skill checks and weapon damage rolls.
M3 continues his bardic chant, unseen.
M4 takes an action you cannot see. ____________________________ Shadow Lord: 61 damage. 20% Concealment Miss Chance. Flying 20ft.

Evaris is not affected by the Stinking Cloud or the Crushing Despair. He casts a Searing Light at the Shadow Lord.
[Hit Touch AC 20; 78 on the miss chance; for 25 damage.]

The Shepherd continues his assault, calling upon the Light to smite the servants of shadow.
ooc: Cast holy smite again. Target AM23 since I can see it. 20' radius should catch H2 and H3. 35 damage and blind 1 round. Will DC 22 for half damage and no blindness.

(M2 was glitterdusted last round, along with H1. Did M2 save vs. blindness. If blind M2 couldnt target Crushing Dispair.)
(Fort Save: 20 vs. Stinking Cloud)
Emrys moves out of the stinking cloud and up to the wall (AR-15). Along the way, he had begun to chant words of great power. By the time he completes his casting, his body becomes giant-sized and a swirling torrent of wind!! He stares down at the helpless mages, along the wall, with almost a bit of pity.
(Leyline: 34. Casting Greater Polymorph on himself. Like the spell Elemental Body III, he changes into a Large Air Elemental. Duration: 12 minutes)
Emrys hopes the winds generated by his new form is enough to disperse the Stinking Clouds.

Surrounded, Brom fights a bit more defensively and beats the snot out of the blind guy.
Edson manages to resist the effects of the Stinking Cloud I rolled for you). He again attacks, hitting H2 for another 20 damage (”A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment” - this fog grants concealment. I did include Edson’s 16 damage last round, but my humble apologies for not mentioning this in the post. Sorry Shawn.)
Lanliss is away from combat. He hides, and continues to move away from the party.
Velarin casts Fly and rises into the air. He looks for the Shadow Lord. Initially, he does not see him, but then notices: Highlight to display spoiler: {he is hiding in that long illusory wall at AJ13 atop the stone wall. A false image of the Shadow Lord is there too that will rise to the top of that illusory wall!} (Sorry for the confusion on the fireball damage - I saw the 36. As far as damage goes, that’s +5 to the total and a save would be half that, so ½ of 59 was 29 - fixed.)
Barratore moves and hits the shadow mage atop the wall.
Evaris wishes he could attack the Shadow Lord, but he can see nothing within the Stinking Cloud.
Baslim again invokes a Holy Smite, catching H1 and H2 (H3 is dead.)
Emrys casts Greater Polymporh on himself, and moves out of the Stinking Cloud. (Glitterdust is a 10’ radius and could not hit both H1 and M2. Also, an Air Elemental can assume the form of a Whirlwind, but that is a Supernatural ability and takes a standard action to do, so that would be next round.)
One of the shadowy warriors H2 attacks Brom, hitting twice for 11 and 16 damage. The blind H3 lies dead (happend last round.) Finally, H1 attacks Brom four times, but blinded it misses all four times.
Velarin can suddenly see a Wooly Rhino behind the stone wall appear from out of nowhere, though it does not move. Velarin - Perception 22: Highlight to display spoiler: {Lanliss moves stealthily away from the party.} Two of the shadowy spell casters (M3 and M4) step into the illusory wall and focus their attention on Velarin as he rises above the battlefield, and Velarin must make two DC 17 Fort saves or be blinded (Blindness/Deafness, CL 14.)
Mystic2 then steps 5’ back from the scary minotaur, and casts Blindness/Deafness on him - DC 17 Fort save for Barratore or be blinded.
Mystic1 casts Displacement on himself.
You hear a muted barking, yiping, cawing in the distance. This is reminiscent of the shadow creatures you fought before and passed while travelling on the Shadow Plane. Some must’ve followed you into this place, but they are not yet even in the range of True Seeing.
Finally, the Shadow Lord rises into the air above the 15’ tall wall. He laughs. “You still have time to join me you know - my reinforcements are on their way - can you hear them? He he he. We can rules together - separate but equal, you in that Spicy Valley of yours, and I here. Join me. You know you want to. And you cannot win, for I will have the Krystal Heart soon enough!”
Then the Shadow Lord casts Greater Dispel Magic on Emrys. Starting with the highest level spell on Emrys, he will potentially dispel 4 spells and succeeds against Caster Level 24, 6, 24 and 23 (likely dispelling 3 spells operating on him.) ____________________________ Shadow Lord: 63 damage. 20% Concealment Miss Chance. Mystics: M1: Concealment and Displacement 50% miss chance. M2: 35 damage. 20% Concealment Miss Chance. M3: 12 damage. Blind(5). Deaf(1). Glitterdusted. Not happy. M4: Invisible. 12 damage. Blind(2).

V calls out to the others "The Shadow Lord is hiding in the illusory wall at the Southwest corner of the main two walls. He has an illusion double of himself as a ruse. They also have a summoned rhino back there."
V shakes off the first of the mystic spells, but succumbs to the second(even after wasting a hero point on a reroll), and is now blinded and deafened.

Barratore eyes the Mystic as it casts his spell and then everything goes black. I am safe ! Lanliss Shouts, hoping he calmed down Brom. He moves a little bit closer near the group but still far from the cloudy thing that made him uneasy. Moments before he tries to make himself less visible he thinks about fighting but alas, Saying or shouting more staff will only make him a visible target and he needs to keep the crystal safe.

(Emrys wasn't doing a whirlwind. Just being a giant air elemental in an enclosed space should generate enough winds to dissipate the stinking cloud. 21+mph wind is all that's required ... not a tornado. But a whirlwind was coming the very next round.)
(Greater Dispel Magic on Emrys. Top spells, sorted by level and then by most recently cast: Greater Polymorph 6th, True Seeing 5th, Detect Scrying 5th, Haste & Good Hope 3rd. SL's caster level checks: 24, 6, 24 and 23. Polymorph, Detect Scrying and Haste are dispelled.)
Emrys is only a windy giant for just a moment. He shrinks back down and materializes back to flesh and bone. He eyes the man with a stoic expression, not giving him the satisfaction of being frustrated. He advances on the Shadow Lord (AM-14) and then throws a spell in his direction.
(Leyline: 78. Casting Baleful Polymorph on the Shadow Lord. Fort save: 22 vs. polymorph. Will Save: 22 vs remembering who he is. Range: 55ft.)
"Fiend, you deprived me of my form ... now I deprive you of yours!" If the spell takes affect, the Shadow Lord polymorphs into a pear-shaped, bobwhite quail.
While still being able to still fly, these tiny, clumsy birds can only stay aloft for a very short time ... especially with no wind!

Evaris moves out of the Stinking Cloud, still unaffected by its stench. Now that he can see, he casts a Searing Light at any opponent he can see. [OOC: I've totally lost track of who's visible and who isn't.]
[I would like to use yesterday's rolls: Hit Touch AC 20 for 25 damage, with a 78 on the miss chance. If it matters, Evaris has the Precise Shot feat.]
