Monday September 4th, 2017 11:59:14 PM

Bosk places the remaining items in his Bag of Holding. I would like to hold onto the Holy Symbols. The only other part of the treasure the really interests me are the manuals. I have been looking into getting ones to make me stronger or more dexterous. The cleric then quickly gathers us some of the remains from the arious enemies and places each in a reliquary (holy symbol).

(Noth that these remains coul in theory be used for n Avenger's spell or Tote bag, but I don't think these particular remains are likely to be used that way.)

Attack on Chitin - [DM Hugh]
Tuesday September 5th, 2017 12:23:00 AM

(OOC: Please take 220k xp from the last battle)

Tink looks over the enormous haul they took in from their defeated enemies, thinking that it would make most dragons envious. She says the group should just grab everything and move on, questioning if the group has room for everything.

Garret pushes some of the larger items into a pile and sits on them saying, "I'm a dragon!"

Zane says he has room for some of the items and that he could upgrade his cloak and ring.

Sesha grins at Garret and tells him he is an Iron Dragon. The Bloodwitch then picks through the treasures finding 1 or 2 that interest her. She looks longingly at one of the tomes of clear thought.

Wyaar picks his arrows from the body of the falling leaving the loot for later. He steps up to the door and does the detect evil bit.

Restlin's eyes light up as he sees the ring of evasion. He says he had his eye on one of them for a while and claims it at least temporarily as a luck quest treasure. He starts shoveling loot into the bags of holding.

Beri feels bad for Soma. He then tries to place where the next door could lead. He wonders if it leads to skin or maybe an exoskeleton.

Tink asks if anyone wants to claim the Gorechildren statues as potential Gargoyles for their castle.

Bosk places the remaining items in his Bag of Holding. He says he is interested in both the holy symbols and the manuals either the dexterity or strength one. He also puts some of the remains of the enemies into reliquaries.

Wyaar does not detect any evil beyond the door and you have gathered up all the loot so without further ado you manage to get the door open. It leads to yet another length of intestine-tunnel. This one is especially rubbery and tough. After a time, the tunnel starts to sport chitinous shell and is not longer flexible. At the end of the tunnel, there is no visible flesh, and the walls are made entirely of chitinous shell. Even the portal before you is made of overlapping plates of armor. Another Door? What could be behind this one?

I believe this is it's exoskeleton. These sphincters into it are interesting, I wonder if it's an adaptation to allow it to adjust pressure or if it acts as a protective shield against the vacuum of space.

Beri looks around, sincerely hoping this is the only time in his life he'll have an up close view like this of the transition into a chitinous shell.

Well, I can't think of much else to do here. I'll ready a wall of stone to block the door in case this sphincter leads into a vaccume or a trap if we are ready.

Attack on Chitin - [DM Hugh]
Wednesday September 6th, 2017 12:33:03 AM

Tink asks what part of the creature they are in now and questions if some of the structures are teeth. She suggests the same strategy they tried earlier of her opening the door and everyone else planning to clobber whatever is on the other side.

Sesha agrees that Tink's idea sounds like a plan. She then heals everyone up.

Garret touches the wall as they move along the passageway, expecting the gnashing teeth to show up. He asks if anyone remembers where they parked the ship.

Wyaar wanders along the passage way with an arrow knocked. As they get to the door he ponders if they are at the creatures head and if the next passage way potentially opens into space.

Zane too questions whether or not the chitinous door leads into space and if they can survive. He suggests everyone find something to hold onto just in case and they be ready to close the door quickly if need be.

Sesha casts Planar Adaptation on everyone indicating they are all good should the door open into space.

Bosk says he has a spell that can get them back to the ship and that it is the same spell that the baddies used to escape the astral plane. He then points out that Soma could be a bug or shellfish type creature and he isn't sure if that helps any.

Restlin says that he too can teleport everyone back to the ship, well some of everyone and he suggest they start sucking up to him now. He assures Sesha that she is on the list before suggesting they are possibly in Soma's skull.

Beri suggests that they are near the creature's exoskeleton and wonders if the sphincters exist to equalize pressure. He then reassures everyone that should the sphincter lead to vacuum he can use wall of stone to block the door.

The door opens albeit with thunk instead of the pop you have come to expect and...On the other side is an enormous chamber. The floor, walls, and ceiling are made entirely of organic armor, still studded with bioluminescent dots. It is shaped roughly like an egg, and the opposite wall is nearly 300 feet away. The ceiling is a soaring 500 feet above you.The floor slopes down. In the center of the organ-chamber is a pillar of bone that rises about 250 feet, halfway to the ceiling.

(Perception DC 27 or alternatively if you climb or fly to the top of the pillar you can read the spoiler:)Highlight to display spoiler: {At the apex of the pillar is a stone ring. It crackles with energy, and small bolts of electricity arc outward from its surface.

In the center of the spinning ring is a ball of energy. A white, miniature sun. It flares with blinding brilliance, and you find yourself squinting involuntarily when you look.

Tink says "I don't know what it is but it's safe to say don't touch it." She then flies upward 40 feet.

Sesha ponders the core and asks if that is what keeps this place running.

Int check 20 Highlight to display spoiler: { What is meant by "Running?" The harvester room with the trolls was what was keeping Soma "fed" and the nerve cluster was what was keeping it in control of its bodily functions. This is most likely doing something else }

Restlin says it is cool and all but then asks what is it. He asks Sesha to help him get up there in order to investigate.

Wyaar spots the mini-sun-like structure and then fires an arrow a little way across the floor wary of potential mouths in order to see if anything happens. Nothing does.

Garett pulls his hand back and looks at Tink saying he wasn't going to touch it.

Zane flies up and points out that both they and the structure are out of this world. He mentions a feature of how a top works and questions whether it is responsible for the gravity in Soma with the spinning.

Bosk examines the contraption and determines that it is indeed spherical. (OOC: think like that generator thing in the spider man movie with Dock Ock) He then questions what would happen if they tried to pass through the center.

Beri turns to Garrett and says that is a good question. He says he has no idea about gravity but if it is what he thinks it is it is one of the few things powerful enough to block Gargul's perception if properly harnessed and it looks properly harnessed. He then asks if there is a safe way to shut it down.

Sesha says to the mage priest that they can go and take a look.

Once in a better position Restlin casts detect magic and examines the sphere and ring closer.

For a moment, just a moment, Tink wonders if the power of this object could be used for good. But if it annoys Gargul it's fairly safe to say it's not a good thing.

"To state the obvious, it is doing something" Tink says, bestowing her wisdom upon the party "If we passed the stomach, and the last one was the nerves, could this be the brain?"

"Anyway, from what I can tell, it is harnessing all sorts of magic to hide someone somewhere in the Wold and beyond. Even in the Lands of Rest. Hmm.. imagine if someone could travel freely between them, wow, that's pretty powerful stuff."

Tink briefly wonders if the device might be used for good but then abandons that thought because whatever it is, it annoys Gargul.

She speculates they might be in Soma's brain and then gives her opinion that the device is being used to hide someone even in the lands of rest. She then briefly reflects what it would be like to be able to travel between them and how powerful the item is. Lastly she asks who wants to destroy it.

Restlin presses his luck regaining dispel magic and then attempts to dispel the object but his spell is overwhelmed by it's power and ends up doing nothing.

Garret realizes he doesn't know much about magic so he heads to the other side of the chamber looking for a door window or off switch. He doesn't find anything except more chitinous wall.

Wyaar shoots an arrow at the object. The arrow solidly strikes it but bounces off the stone ring, not seeming to have enough behind it to really harm the object.

Zane says that either himself or Garret would be most likely to survive messing with the object and proceeds to volunteer, requesting some healing first.

Sesha tells Zane that the wounds are psychosomatic as she just healed him ten minutes ago.

Beri suggests dispelling the item and being ready to run in case the station comes crashing down when they figure out a way to stop it.

Bosk looks at the contraption in amazement. He doesn't know if it is a doomsday device or meant to create privacy. He asks if anyone can see it with true seeing. Bosk volunteers being the one to try to destroy it as he has darkwalking, a blink ring and the ability to return to this plane should the worst occur. He then looks for invisible enemies and tries to figure out a way to shut the object down or overload it.

Bosk does not see any invisible traps or enemies.

Tink says maybe they don't need to smash it, postulating that if they stop it from moving it will implode on itself. She then says she is just guessing so feel free to smash it into pieces.

Restlin is fine to leave the smashing to his beefier companions taking advantage of the relative quiet while he floats with Sesha on her broom complimenting her dragon shifting.

Bosk says before they do anything he's going to collect some of the material from the wall for crafting with. He then pulls out his tools and begins carving away.

Garret pauses then looks at the objects and asks if it can hear him.

Sesha notices Bosk seemingly favoring a wound or two. She reminds both him and Bosk that she healed everyone. Sesha slumps back into Restlin and points out how everyone had their moment that day and that they are really coming together as a team. She then moves her broom just a little far away while the others mess with the device.

Bosk mumbles something about Muscle Memory and Neuromuscular reeducation in response to Sesha.

Beri thinks what Bosk is doing is a good idea and whips out his gem of true seeing asking for a moment to look around before the next attack.

Wyaar hmms as his arrow doesn't explode them into space then says it is beyond him whatever needs to be done.

Zane studies the spinning device trying to find a way to shut it off. He waits for the others to finish sampling before he points out what he has discovered.

Garret doesn't get any response from the contraption. It does not appear to be either sentient or alive.

Wyaar waits patiently for the others. The stone is still spinning, the orb is still glowing, revolving and sending out arcs of electricity.

Bosk says I suggest you stand back then waits for everyone to give him room. He then uses his ring of blinking, downs an elixir of tumbling while shadow walking. He takes a swing hoping he doesn't cause a cataclysm.

Sesha prepares her self to teleport her and Restlin if needed.

Restlin does likewise

Tink says let's focus on a single point and adds some acid to the mix.

Wyaar says "Bosk Smash."

Garret backs up, a little resentful he was told not to touch while he mumbles about it.

Zane fires off some magic missiles at the point that Bosk and Tink focused on.

Beri explains what he saw with the gem and then starts summoning a lightning storm to help with dealing with the device.

The attacks by Zane, Bosk and Tink all hit at the same time but fail to make a dent. It would appear you need more damage then the output of your current combined might. Perhaps Beri's lightning storm will help?

(OOC: sorry I fell asleep)

Tink senses Garret's disappointment and says it might not be safe to touch with hands or feet and if he can damage it without using those it might help. She then sends more acid at it.

Restlin says looks like that isn't cutting it and fires a disintegration ray at it.

Garret turns away from the light thinking there will be an explosion since Restlin said he was going to try something.

Zane fires of another magic missile.

Beri's storm summoning ends as Restlin decides to do something. He adds his lightning bolt into the mix.

Bosk continues his assault.

Sesha finally has an opportunity to use her hand crossbow.

The sword, hand crossbow bolt, ray, lightning bolt, magic missile, and acid all impact the object at the same time. The combined assault knocks a chunk of rock from the spinning ring. Unbalanced, the ring quickly begins to wobble and destabilize. The destabilization becomes more pronounced and… the miniature star winks out. The stone ring begins to slow. Slower and slower losing speed, until it comes to a gradual stop. It continues to hover in the air, but no longer moves and does not emit any energy.

BAMF!

The air vibrates nearby. Gimp the Imp has appeared. He surveys the scene and whistles low. ”Criminently! So that’s what was blocking Gargul.” He raises his head and listens to an unseen voice. ”All right. The Boss is putting out his feelers. Hold on. Hooooold on.” Gimp’s eyes open wide. ”Oh. Ohhhhhh. Crap.”

He turns to you. He looks scared. ”Um, Gargul wants to talk with you. This is… big.” He wipes his mouth with a hand. ”Like, real big. The Boss is still sorting through everything, but it looks like you were right. The Death Dragon Cult is not getting their power from Gargul. But they sure think they are…”

Tink is relieved that the device simply stopped working rather than tearing a whole in time and space.

Gimp's sudden appearance is a surprise though. Her first thought is on casting Prestidigitation on each member of the party to clean up before seeing Gargul. Then she considers what Gimp just said.

If the cult is not getting their power from Gargul but think they are, does that mean they are getting their power from another deity? One with the knowledge on how to block Gargul's vision? That's a bit of a scary thought.

Sesha twirls her hand crossbow, then kisses the cross frame before holstering it at thigh level.

"That's gettin' stuff done."

When Gimp appears and professes they are required in Garguls presence, her demeanor crumbles, just a little. She had recently, twice, literally dumped Woldsblood on her enemies as a weapon. Maybe he hadn't noticed with all the blockage going on?

She steels herself for his judgement, hoping that maybe helping him out here might have earned some brownie points.

"Well, I'm ready."

Oh. Ohhhhhh. Crap. The horned cleric might not know the imp as well as he would like, but experience has taught him anything short of hopping up down and brimming with mischievous energy is a bad sign and phrases like "Oh. Ohhhhhh. Crap." were typically reserved for when he pushed Gargul too far. What ever is coming is bad...

it looks like you were right. The Death Dragon Cult is not getting their power from Gargul. But they sure think they are… The cleric's first thought is of Marteaus looking for revenge, but he pushes the thought aside. Gargul and Marteaus had their quarrels, but he mustn't jump to conclusions of vengeance and revenge without reason.

Of course. What can we do to help? Our ship is outside the cave. Would it be possible to sent it back to our tower and return to Hook City after our meeting? Or should we leave it here and plan on returning to this location afterwards?

One last opportunity for tourism on Soma - [DM Hugh]
Thursday September 14th, 2017 12:14:52 AM

Tink is relieved the device stopped working rather than tearing a hole in space time. Her first impulse is to make everyone presentable for Gargul but then she ponders the implications of what Gimp said.

Sesha twirls her crossbow, kisses it, then holsters it. She freezes when she sees the Imp hoping the blockage might have worked to her advantage and Gargul didn't see her use of Woldsblood or is understanding in how she helped. She then indicates her readiness.

Restlin squeezes Sesha's shoulder denoting she showed the artifact who's the boss. He then stows his Robe and checks himself and his suit. He reiterates that the Death Dragon Cult were idiots and then asks how the meeting is to proceed.

Garret looks up at the ball surprised it didn't explode. He asks where is the kaboom and then farts when he notices Gimp saying he had to let that out before going to meet the big guy.

Zane breathes easier when the machine stops spinning. He then speculates on who the Death Dragon's patron could be before asking on the travel arrangements.

Wyaar does a slow motion hair flip.

Beri says he was worried the sun would explode or something. He returns to human form to say hello to Gimp and that it is reassuring to be alive when he goes to meet Gargul at least for the time being.

Bosk waits for a portal to open or something while the device slows. When Gimp appears he exchanges pleasantries and then becomes concerned based on Gimp's word usage. The Horned Cleric then speculates about what could be coming before contributing his own questions about travel arrangements.

Gimp says to those who questioned him, "Hold your horses, the ultimate arrangement for the meet is up to The Big Guy. I'm not sure how easy it will be for him to reach you out here especially with the residual effect of that artifact. Given the gravity of the situation, though, he did send me out here directly."

Gimp raises his head and listens again. ”Mmhmm. Yep. Okay.” He turns to you. ”Wrap up here, lick your wounds, and send a prayer from the Wold itself when you are back home and ready. Bossman wants to talk with you.” The Imp shoots you with finger-guns. ”He’s got a job for you.”

With another BAMF! the Imp is gone.

Seeing as how Bosk reminded everyone how close the ship is to where you currently are when you finish up whatever else you want to do on Soma there is an easy way to return to the Wold.

Lucky Find: While on a Luck Quest, items tend to just fall into the character's hands. The character gains a bonus to search rolls equal to her mendicant level (this does not stack with the Jack O'Trades bonus). Even if the DM has not planned for an item to be found, there is a chance of finding something anyway. The DM secretly rolls a d12, unmodified by luck points. On a 1, nothing is found. On a 2-5, something non-magical and not obviously useful is found. On a 6-9, something non-magical and useful is found. On a 10 or 11, something magical but not obviously useful is found. On a 12, something useful and magical is found. The DM chooses what is found, and may be inspired by the table on page 113 of the 3.0 DMG, or on page 66 of the 3.5 DMG. It should be pretty safe to clean things up right now. I'll use the last of my gem of true seeing to try to fnd any hidden doors that could be hiding goodies we missed. Also, think we can grab one of those robotic arms from the feeding room on the way out, that's a pretty cool trophy for our parlor.

Tink, Restlin, Garret "Macho Man" Goodbarrel, Zane, and Sesha are basking in the glow of their recent victory and are ready to head home immediately.

Bosk has some moderate interest in collecting trophies on the way out.

ooc: Bosk -- ears I can understand, but if you want to collect a toot you will need a glass bottle or something.

You search and scan thoroughly on your way out. Your egress is much swifter than your ingress, due to the fact that Soma has lost pretty much all integrity. The organ-chambers sag, the intestine-tunnels are limp, and the sphincter-doors lay wide open. It is likely due to the fact that Soma has been lobotomized. You find no secret areas, and no additional loot beyond what you already scavenged.

Bosk grabs the severed heads of a gore-child and gore-mother. As unique creatures, their mounted heads should look very impressive on the walls of your castle. You also grab one of the robotic feeding arms.

At the entrance of Soma, you are greeted with gusto by your dragon-ship. "Greetings, good masters! I am overjoyed to see you are still alive! How was the adventure?"

After filling in the Starblazer and setting a course for home, you lift off the asteroid. You once again see Soma in its entirety. You observe that sections of the great bulk are beginning to discolor, turning from red-green to gray. Those of you trained in the natural sciences realize that, with the death of its caretakers, the ravages of Jericho Space are no longer abated. Soma will slowly freeze. The corpses inside will be preserved for eternity in their perfect, silent graveyard.

Soma continues to decrease in size, until it is no longer distinguishable from the asteroid on which it sits.

"Good masters, do you wish to return home immediately? I am at your disposal." Your dragon-ship is eager for adventure. It occurs to you that you could return home to Hook City, stop in Plateau City to debrief with the Lord Mayor, or go literally anywhere you want. The entire Wold is hanging suspended in space in front of you!

Garret bounces along through the "caverns" of the Soma. He slows down as they near the exit and starts getting contemplative. He says aloud, "But if this was alive, is it a ship? And if it was alive, did we kill it? Did we need to kill it, or should we just have killed those who inhabited it? Or did it need to be killed? Or was it alive? It didn't talk to me, but what then, is life?"

He is interrupted by the ship greeting the group. He continues his contemplation speaking to the ship, "You are overjoyed? But how can that be? Are you alive? Or are you programmed to follow instructions that give you the appearance of life? Can we know what is truly alive and what is not?" He sits near a railing, looking out into space, and thinks a lot on the ride home.

Beri looks over at Garret and shrugs.
That thing could only stay alive be continuous torture of scores of trolls, probably for many years to get that size. From that view alone we did the right thing. It was alive, but it wasn't sentient since it lacked a proper brain... biologically speaking I'm not sure what it would be, but I would guess it's sentience was closer to that of a carrot than a worm. At least I hope that's the case, picture the constant pain you'd be in if a mad scientist every inch of your insides with gnashing teeth an poisonous boils.[b]

Beri then addresses Starblazer
[b]What are you going to do after all this? I don't know if you have a family or friends out their waiting for you, but you've been a great friend to us and we'd be honored to have you stay with us.

When Zane reaches the ship, he heads for the controls. He felt at home on board ship, any ship would do, but Starblazer felt better than most.
"Flying to Plateau City would be showing off, since we can just teleport there from our Castle. Those that need or want can go and tell the Lord Governor or Mayor or whatever his actual title is. The rest of us can prepare for our trip to See Lord Gargul. I doubt we'll get a chance to prepare after we see him. I expect him to be very irritated that someone is trying to usurp his rightful power. I expect him to be expecting us sooner rather than later, so we don't have a whole lot of time to waste.
So one group getting ready and the other reporting in to give the results to the Person who requested our assistance. Actually, we aren't finished yet, so we really don't owe a report yet, but I know Restlin wants to go, so I'm just giving an alternate way of getting everything done."

Zane makes sure the ship id headed back towards the Wold, we still have a bit of time before setting a final destination... The North or the South.....

Restlin shakes his head at Zane's comments. "Come on, man. Did our last visit to Plateau City teach us nothing? We're Dragons now. Us showing up some where is a big deal. The Lord Mayor had to throw that entire shindig together at the last minute because we couldn't be bothered to follow diplomatic protocols. When we joined the Consortium, we didn't just sign up for cool decoder rings free meals wherever we went. They threw us a giant party, assisted us in getting to where we needed to go, and we're just going to go home now & have those who left stuff behind teleport over to pick it up? That dude did us a solid, and he deserves to have us all come back and let his people know what we averted with his help."

He turns towards the ship's dragon head. "Plateau City, Mr. Dragon Ship. Make it so." He turns back to his friends, annoyed look on his face. "Seriously, am I the only one who grew up around polite company?"

...then a lightbulb goes off and he realizes he might actually be the only one who grew up around polite company. He pinches the bridge of his nose. "Just trust me on this one. It's the right thing to do. We message ahead, show up, say some words, hint that we can't keep Gargul waiting, and go home. In and out, 2 hour adventure."

"Onward to Plateau City, good masters! Our journey will take several hours. Please make yourselves comfortable."

She briefly - very briefly - considers preparing and casting a Greater Teleportation spell and beating the StarBlazer to Plateau. It's enough to try and pull Restlin's leg a little

"Why send a message? If it's just to debrief, let's all teleport in and then teleport out? I can Greater Teleport us from here. No need to sail the ship, and no need for any fanfare." Tink suggests with a wink to Sesha.

"Plus, there's a servant there I owe a favor to. Best to clear it up now."

Restlin isn't sure how to fly a giant artifact dragon ship into a major city discreetly, so he's not sure they should bother. It makes sense to fly the thing right to the Lord Mayor's...castle? Was it a castle? He can't remember.

Sesha teleports to front grounds of Lord Sturtavent's manor (built like a castle, but the size of a manor house). It takes a few minutes of escalating messages between servants, but eventually she is met by the chief steward who escorts her to the same private rooms as before. He informs her the Lord Mayor will see the Iron Dragons when they have all arrived, as he needs time to summon his advisers to hear their report.

The Starblazer arrives over Plateau City. By the time you touch down in front of the manor house, a small crowd has formed. It is not the throng as the last time you visited, and it appears the Lord Mayor has tried to keep your impending visit as quiet as possible. It is difficult to hide a flying caravel, however, and word quickly sweeps through the nearby neighborhoods. By the time you reach the front doors, several hundred people are gathered around the courtyard and are being prevented from approaching the ship by a ring of guardsmen.

The chief steward stands ready to meet you, and escorts you to the same chambers where Sesha is staying. Servants are now aware of your arrival, and it is nothing but curtsies and bows between the foyer and the private rooms. You rejoin Sesha, and are quickly followed by a line of servants carrying charcuterie trays, bowls of water for washing, and a fussy little man with a clipboard who inquires if anyone would like a hot bath before their audience tonight.

It is currently 2:00PM, and your audience with the Lord Mayor will be after dinner at 8:00PM. You are informed of the Lord Mayor's great regret that he cannot meet you for dinner, but he does not wish for certain nobility to have contact with you prior to the audience. You are, however, promised a sumptuous feast in your private rooms.

Do you have anything to accomplish prior to dinner and your audience?

A hot bath would be perfect. If you have any lavender, no...sandalwood oil, even better!" The others could sell stuff at the catacombs. This was important.

After the bath, he seeks out his given room at the manor to retrieve his stuff. He also hunts down that nice follower of Wardd who agreed to watch his stuff. "Here, take this fan. I found it in..." he stops himself. He can't very well go telling this woman what happened before he tells the Lord Mayor. "Well, I found it someplace it shouldn't have been. Had no use for it myself, but it was found on a luck quest, so it's gonna be useful to someone at some point. Hopefully that person's you!" He teaches her the command word to activate it, then leaves her with a bow & heads back to meet up in time for dinner. He is refreshed, happy, and ready to eat.

Sesha had previously mentioned interest in the Tome of Clear thought, and was still interested in it. Otherwise, there wasn't much that had grabbed her attention.

Having bathed before the others arrived, Sesha was happy and in general good spirits. Ready for dinner, Sesha adds her own small bit of cooking to the group, spending the time to cast and prepare an extended Heroes Feast. She was aware it might be a little unexpected, a guest aiding in the meal preparation, but she would insist without giving an inch if someone tried to shoo her away.

Usually this was an end of the day sort of spell, but who knew what the next 24 hours would bring?

She makes sure to keep the extra portions she is capable of making set aside, for any dignitary or noble of high rank. (Sesha can make 20 servings, and the party consumes 7.)

(You bring forth a great feast, including a magnificent table, chairs, service, and food and drink. The feast takes 1 hour to consume, and the beneficial effects do not set in until this hour is over. Every creature partaking of the feast is cured of all sickness and nausea, receives the benefits of both neutralize poison and remove disease, and gains 16 temporary HP after imbibing the nectar-like beverage that is part of the feast. The ambrosial food grants each creature that partakes a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and Will saves and a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against poison and fear effects for 24 hours..)

You all receive hot baths made to order, with a generous selection of oils, aromatics, and light music played while you soak your bodies. The stink of gore is washed away, though some of you have to rinse several times and require a servant or two with stiff brushes.

Bosk examines the holy symbols. There is nothing special about them.

Tink vanishes to the Catacombs once everyone agrees on how to split the treasure (hand-wave, we can assume you finished shopping and returned).

The chief steward arrives at your room at 7:50PM and escorts you to a small antechamber. After a minute or two of waiting and whispered messages through a small window in the door, the thick-framed door is swung open and you find yourself in a well-appointed chamber. Lord Mayor Sturtavent sits in an impressive chair at the head of the room. He is flanked by several noblemen, though they appear much more physically fit and martial than the typical nobleman. Also present is Father Eorcenbald, you gives you a twinkling grandpa smile.

"Welcome, Iron Dragons. Welcome!" The Lord Mayor beckons you forward. A semi-circle of comfortable chairs stand opposite the gathering of nobility. "Please, sit down and tell us everything." He nods to a servant, who stands ready with quill and parchment to record the meeting.

Well, Restlin wasn't going to make a big deal of things, but if his friends insist...

The Mendicant, still wearing the impeccable suit provided by the Lord Mayor on the last visit stands. "I wouldn't call it nothing. The capable sailors and vessel you provided delivered us safely to our destination. We fought our way through elves, dragonkin, even a flesh golem or two...I've legitimately forgotten how many there were, if we're being honest. We defeated a menagerie of monsters crafted by an abused, insane monstrolloger. Then, we defeated Vivian herself, though her phylactery was no where to be found.

"What we did find was an intelligent, flying ship capable of navigating Jericho Space. The look of panic on Vivian's eyes as it told us it could return to its previous destination was all the proof we needed to pursue it. So, we did.

"We flew into Jericho Space on our ship, when Gimp contacted us & let us know it sensed something nearby. That something turned out to be..." he pauses to cast a silent image spell of the flaming oma. "An oma. A giant, flaming, space whale."

Restlin pulls a chunk of rose quartz from his pouch. "After an initial mishap, I was able to posses the body of the thing and allow a number of my fellow Dragons to enter and find what Gimp had warned us about. As expected, they discovered, and destroyed, Vivian's phylactery. The lich will bother these lands no more. The oma...rewarded us appropriately for ridding her of the thing. How she did so is not a topic for polite company." He wonders if any sea-faring folk around here will be able to guess about the ambergris.

"That done, we continued on to find...Soma." He changes the silent image to one of the living asteroid. "A giant, sentient asteroid crafted by the death dragon cult. We dragons fought through long stretches of intestine and Wardd knows what else. We fought nearly a hundred trolls. We defeated dozens of fleshcrafted monstrosities and finally took down the priests of the cult."

Then, Restlin freezes. He had completely forgotten about the rubber piggie in his pouch until that moment. It should have turned back into a nerve cluster hours ago. He pulls the piggie out, eyes it warily, then shrugs. Guess its staying a pig after all.

He raises the thing high. "This is the polymorphed remains of Soma's brain." He lowers it down & strokes its head. "I've named it Waddles." He returns it to his pouch.

"As far as we know, the Death Dragon cult is no more. We were able to remove the block preventing Gargul from detecting the cult's true source of power, but have yet to discuss Gargul's findings with him.

"Please accept our gratitude for your continued hospitality, Lord Mayor. As well as the transport to Farpoint Island. Also to you as well, Father Eorcenbald, though I'm afraid your assistance will be once again needed in the very near future." They still had to have their audience with Gargul. The high priest here seems like a great way to arrange that quickly.

Diplomacy: 32 - In case I've said something gauche that Restlin would know better.

Garret avoids the bath unless someone forces him into one. Instead, he walks about, exploring the rooms and place they are contained in. He looks for some windows so he can wave to people outside. He eats Sesha's feast until he is absolutely stuffed and has to adjust the robe holding up his pants. He smiles, burps, and thanks Sesha for the grub.

When they arrive in the room with the nobles, he looks around and bumps Restlin and says, "There's no food here. Is that normal? Are we in trouble?"

Then he sits back and lets Restlin tell the story of their adventures, still keeping an eye out for some extra food or servants who look like they might want to bring him a snack.

After a hot bath and a shave with sandalwood soap Beriothian is feeling much better. There is nothing quite like a good shave to make you feel refreshed. On the way to the small antechamber Beri grabs a charcuterie tray from his room knowing someone will want a snack at some point. While Restlin is in the middle of regaling their benevolent host with the party's voyage through space, the druid notices Garret looking around for food, and passes him the tray... after taking one last sausage.

Bosk has a prestidigitation spell cast on himself to remove the bigger chunk before climbing into the tub of hot water. "No sense in soaking in gore soup." The blond taur eases himself into the hot water with Frankincense and Ylag Ylang.

After drying off Bosk smiles as he puts on the tailored upgrades his outfit to fit over is armor so that it is functional and elegant while still presenting the dangerous nature of a Grim Avenger. After a little cleaning the Chimera jacket looks once again elegant with the matching dragon scale boots and belt with adornments for the most formal of occasions. the custom scabbards and sheath for his 5 1/2 ft bastard sword are highlighted across his back. On his chest is his WLA pin while his Iron Dragon clasp holds his cloak closed.

He then joins the others at the banquet, and recognizes Sesa's contribution. He thanks everyone for the meal and the service and adds what detail he can the the retelling of their adventures.

As the others speak Bosk reflects that he looks forward to seeing Gargul again, but is worried about what revelation lies before them.

An Audience with the Lord High Mayor - [DM Hugh]
Thursday September 21st, 2017 1:14:04 AM

Tink says, "It was nothing, really. We traveled, found something big, killed it from the inside. That's the abridged version. If you have the time - and the parchment - I suspect you're about to get the detailed version"

Wyaar says to Restlin, "Tell them about how you killed something with your sword. That tale should be spread far and wide." and settles on down to let someone more familiar with what they were up to explain the tale." as he nudges the mage-priest in the ribs before having a seat in one of the comfortable chairs.

Restlin gives the Lord High Mayor the long version of events while in his fancy suit. During the retelling he whips out his new Soma brain turned rubber piggy named Waddles and asks for further assistance from Father Eorcenbald.

Garret says "There's no food here. Is that normal? Are we in trouble?" when they reach the room where the Lord High Mayor has set for the meeting. He keeps his eye out for food while Restlin does his thing.

Zane lets Restlin speak and then stands near the back being ready to go whenever the audience concludes.

Sesha is barely present in the meeting as she is distracted by the prospect of the group's impending meeting with Gargul.

Beri reflects on how good being shaven feels and had the forsight to grab a tray of food prior to the meeting. He passes the try to Garret when he notices the halfling's hunger.

Bosk sees his upgraded outfit came together nicely and had thanked Sesha for the meal before they reached the chamber. He too thinks the upcoming meeting with Gargul but he is looking forward to it while Sesha is dreading it.

After Tink and Restlin give news of your recent adventurers to the Lord High Mayor and his assembled advisors they talk amongst themselves in conference. It is hard to make out what is being said but it does look like they seem concerned by the revelations of Soma and the Gargul blocking artifact. After a few minutes of talking amongst themselves, Father Eorcenbald bows to the Lord High Mayor then to the Iron Dragons and quickly leaves the room.

After Father Eorcenbald departs, the Lord High Mayor addresses the chamber, "Father Eorcenbald extends his deepest regrets that he cannot fulfill your current request. We were lucky enough to catch him before he left for the enclave of the upper echelons of the clergy of Gargul. It would be rude to detain him further considering the potential implications that could stem from the nature of their topic of discussion. In the wake of changes among the blood witch practitioners and how the great Gods of the Wolds no longer treat with them a retreat was called to debate the matter and determine if an official response is warranted. Some of the more extreme members of the clergy are calling for a crusade against the blood witches. As you know Father Eorcenbald is a moderating voice and if cooler heads are to prevail on the blood witch question he will be needed there. The enclave itself is being held in an undisclosed location and not even Dragon groups are allowed to disturb it. Given that one of your number could be considered the most prominent blood witch in existence right now it would probably be best not to disturb it. With that being said if there is any other way we could potentially assist you please do not hesitate to ask. However, before we do that some of my other advisors have questions and concerns they would like you to address."

The Lord High Mayor takes a seat while his militant noblemen advisors ask a variety of questions seeking to understand the potential threat posed by the Death Dragon Cult, their capabilities and useful tactics for combating them in the future.

You answer to the best of your ability and the advisors seem satisfied with your answers, the Lord High Mayor stands once again and says, "Before we conclude this meeting, please let us know if there is any further assistance we can provide you outside of the services of Lord Eorcenbald. Otherwise you are free to go, but we would still like to be kept appraised of the situation with the Death Dragon Cult as it develops.

Sesha tenses, and locks her eyes in a seething glare.

"Call a crusade against Blood Witches? We aren't some solid wall or faction. It would be a crusade against the mist! That major deities forbid to treat with a Witch is proof they were never worth our time in the first place."

She jabs her thumb into her chest.

"I'd make it a busy week for Lord Gargul and expensive for his clerics! Those true diamonds for resurrections aren't cheap."

Tink sighs as Sesha let's the attendees know what she really thinks. She speaks over the telepathic link

"Nice one Sesha. You just lost your cool with the ones who are acting as the moderators and voice of reason to the extremists. If anything you have hurt your cause and given more ammunition to those that would oppose bloodwitches. You may have even given them cause to pursue other bloodwitches in the area"

Tink tries to repair the damage and basically help the group get out of here.

"You'll have to excuse my friend. It has been a long and difficult journey, and we have been far from our home for some time. By your leave we will return to Hook City"

Tink gives a slight bow as she turns for the exit, shaking her head as she does so.

Either way this little Mendicant's eager to get out of here.

Zane's worry shows on his face, "Lord Mayor, this is disturbing news. Sesha here is as temperamental as I can be often, and this involves herself, so please pardon her reaction. But I think we are going to become included in this meeting whether or not we want to. With so many High Clergy in one location, what better way than to decapitate the Gods, which is what I think this whole thing has been about all along.

An Audience with the Lord High Mayor - [DM Hugh]
Friday September 22nd, 2017 3:33:07 AM

Sesha tenses and locks eyes in a seething glare,
"Call a crusade against Blood Witches? We aren't some solid wall or faction. It would be a crusade against the mist! That major deities forbid to treat with a Witch is proof they were never worth our time in the first place."

She jabs her thumb into her chest.

"I'd make it a busy week for Lord Gargul and expensive for his clerics! Those true diamonds for resurrections aren't cheap."

Tink points out over the telepathic link that Sesha's outburst may have hurt the cause. She then tries to repair any potential damage through diplomacy.

Restlin grumbles a bit then stands with Sesha silently in solidarity as his own policy prevents him from white knighting.

Garret silently walks over to stand by Sesha and Restlin sensing the tension in the room. He offers the tray to the nearest non dragon in his own effort to lower tensions.

Zane sends the hypothesis over the link that crusade talk might be part of the Death Dragon Cult's plans. To the assembly he says, "Lord Mayor, this is disturbing news. Sesha here is as temperamental as I can be often, and this involves herself, so please pardon her reaction. But I think we are going to become included in this meeting whether or not we want to. With so many High Clergy in one location, what better way than to decapitate the Gods, which is what I think this whole thing has been about all along.
We must leave, and leave now, it's more important than ever we get home and get on with our mission....."

Wyaar states the need to move on.

Beri notes that much has happened in Wold since they left and that they should probably head out in the morning. He also questions if anything else is happening the Iron Dragons should be aware of.

Bosk waits to hear what others have to say but resolves to not form any opinions until after they speak with Gargul.

The Lord High Mayor says to Tink, "No apologies necessary. We can certainly empathize with Sesha's reaction given the circumstances."

To Sesha he says, "Lady Matron in Waiting please note that both the office of the Lord High Mayor and Father Eorcenbald himself are on your side, that is the side of not bothering the witches over some change to how magic works in the Wold. In fact part of reason we went out of our way to get Father Eorcenbald to this meeting was so that he could share the latest updates of your encounter with the Death Dragon Cult with the rest of the clergy. Whoever is masquerading as Gargul is a much greater threat than a smattering of witches who are not hurting anything. Furthermore, it could be argued the blood witches are actually helping considering how you contributed greatly to the success of the recent mission on Soma, Lady Matron in Waiting and have earned the title of Iron Dragon in your own right. Additionally a war between the followers of Gargul and the blood witches is not in the interest of the continued stability of Plateau City and New Elanna as a whole as a crusade could devolve into an interracial incident and a greater war between the surface drow and the other races given your standing as a Matron in Waiting. It is Father Eorcenbald's hope that the resolution of the Clergy will be that the Eyes of Gargul will be neutral with respect to blood witches as a whole but that individual witches who use forbidden spells might face the consequence of being labeled anathema and barred from the entrance to any Church of Gargul or contact with any of His clerics and that Blood witches who use the Reincarnation spell will have to answer to Gargul himself eventually. In this way collective punishment can be avoided and the misdeeds of a few bad actors can be dealt with accordingly in a just manner."

To the assembled Dragons as a whole he says, "You may stay the night in the quarters you previously occupied, thus allowing you to rest before your journey home or set out now for Hook City with a letter of safe passage I'm ordering drawn up. I'm not sure who would bother a Dragon Consortium group in a flying dragon ship but it is the least I could do. The choice is one you will have to figure out yourselves because it seems like you don't currently have a consensus. The office of the Lord High Mayor and Plateau City itself thanks you for the knowledge you have provided and for dealing with the threat posed by the cells of the Death Dragon Cult you have encountered. We humbly remind you to update us on any new information that comes to light on who is masquerading as Gargul and of any additional cells in operation. Meeting adjourned!"

The Lord High Mayor bows and then exits the chamber, Militant nobleman in tow. A short time after that a page runs up to you delivering the Mayor's proclamation of safe passage and some servants show up a little after that asking if you would like to return to your rooms or if your possessions in the rooms should be loaded on the dragon ship. The choice is yours.

Sesha bows, and only then does her anger cool enough to consider what she just said, right in front of Bosk, who was as deep in Garguls service as one could get.

"Yea, uh. About that."

She rests her look on Bosk, searching his face for emotion. He was always so stoic though.

"Never you, Bosk. I don't -think- you'd follow an order from your church to purge me, and I'd never put a spell on you without it being an issue of self defense."

There were a whole lot more minutia and qualifiers in her mind, but she was so frustrated it didn't seem like a good time to try and spell it out, detail by agonizing detail.

"Not sorry Tink. Before I was born, my people were systemically declared traitor and evil by the other elves, because we were different. When I was a girl, my family was captured and sold by another tribe, because we were different - and valuable. Now as a woman, other witches like me are threatened , even in passing, by a religious group because they are different. I wasn't old enough, or cognizant, to defend my people in either capacity the first time.

This time... "

She lets the thought end there before her blood boiled again. Eorcenbald had to come through, and part of doing her job was making sure she trusted other people to do theirs.

Typically it is murder and abuse on a large scale that draws the attention of the gods...still...with someone impersonating the gods we will want to keep our attention on this. Tink sighs and then indicates she wants to return to the tower.

Garret flexes his muscles at the nearby guard and agrees over the link about leaving.

Zane thanks The Lord High Mayor for his hospitality but explains that the ship has sleeping accommodations and can get them home quick.

Beri talks about how he is interested in hearing what Gargul himself has to say.

Restlin is ready to head for home he gathers his belonging and turns in for the journey home finding a hammock below deck he can crash in.

Wyaar is silent going along with the rest of the group.
