Of homecomings, regroupings, introductions and prophecy
Home Sweet Hook City - [DM Hugh] Tuesday September 26th, 2017 12:24:07 AM Tink finds a place to sit cross legged on Starblazer and then plays around with her materials as she talks to herself.
Wyaar enjoys the scenery of the Wold below.
Restlin comes out from below deck wearing a wide brim hat and a pair of short pants. He summons a comfy chair, pulls out a pulp adventure book and starts reading.
Sesha sits quietly and muses on her companions. She then makes a deathwatch potion and cooks breakfast for everyone during the journey.
Garret pulls out some balls and attempts to juggle but ends up doing some sweet dodging of the balls with his acrobatics ability as sleight of hand is a skill you can only used trained.
Zane divides his time between the prow and in the rigging.
Beri takes up a deck chair near Restlin and he raises the possibility of Teucri involvement given Starblazer and Soma.
Bosk Talks about there being many ways the artifacts could have been acquired he then finishes some crafting items and makes a list for the catacombs.
For the most part the trip passes uneventfully there is a really fun moment where you pass over the Hump of the disk shaped Wold to get to the Southern Continent and the ship essentially changes direction 3 times in short succession to maintain position relative to the surface of the water.
A few hours after that that you can see home or rather, the dot that is home. After another half-hour, you are sailing above the city skyline of Hook City. A peek over the railing reveals citizenry who are equal parts mystified and terrified. After all, a Death Dragon Cult attack happened only a few days ago, and they have never seen the Starblazer!
Your ship approaches the castle in a wide arc, halts, and lowers to the cobblestone streets at a slow pace. It juuuuuust barely fits in the courtyard in front of your home, but traffic is obviously blocked. Perhaps building some sort of skydock on your roof should be on the to-do list?
A party of guardsmen led by the Constable stand warily at your front door. The Constable gives you a wary wave of his hand and his face has that unmistakable please-explain-what-is-going-on look.
RobC - Katinka Hushfoot -- AC 33/23/25 -- CMD 26 -- HP 185+32 -- Spells -- Active Effects Tuesday September 26th, 2017 6:42:12 AM "Would you believe it used to belong to an old lady who rode it to temple once a week?" Tink jokes to the Constable, as she jumps down from the deck.
She then mentions over the link "If this bothers them then perhaps we should ease them in to the souvenirs we collected" referring to the gorechildren body parts and such.
"In all seriousness, constable, we commandeered this fine vessel - the Starblazer - from some very, very evil people. It is of no danger to anyone"
Sesha [AC 39 /16 To/38 Fl] | HP 178/178 | CMD 32] Tuesday September 26th, 2017 10:09:25 AM
Sesha hops down from the ship, landing lightly on her small feet. She stretches her back, arching like a cat, then twists at the waist a couple of times.
She wants to blurt out questions about whether the church of Gargul here is doing anything.. weird, but she knows that's the wrong process for Hook City.
Instead, she asks another fairly blunt question, her voice a sultry purr. She grabs the young mage by the hand and drags him with her, then rests his hand on her hip.
"Do you have any immediate need of us? Restlin and I have desperate need of a room with some privacy, alone and away from peeping eyes."
She doesn't hint at anything more than that, in case someone was listening that shouldn't be. That pig needed tossed in the vault.
Restlin (Carl) -- AC +21/+7/+18 CMD: +20 HP: 192/192 (Spells) Luck Points: 6/22 SR: 20 Tuesday September 26th, 2017 10:17:21 AM
Ugh, Restlin wasn't dealing with any constables today. Tink can handle that nonsense; Restlin had the Iron Square folks to greet.
"Hi everyone!" he shouts from the ship, still dressed in shorts and a big straw hat. He has a killer tan. "You would not believe what we've had to deal with, but it's really great to be home." He waves happily, but really wants to get inside, get dressed, and go to Gargul and find out what the heck's going on. His wish is seemingly granted when Sesha quickly escorts him inside. He wonders if she's doing that thing she does where she uses their relationship as a cover to exit a situation...

Garret hops down from the ship as well and quickly makes his way to where he knows the nearest meat on a stick stand can be found. He greets the sellers of the meat (since this is certainly a regular stop of his) and gets a meat-on-a-stick for each hand. He smiles and tells them that they have been on quite a journey and isn't this a nice flying ship that they found? He also asks what's new in town (diplomacy for gather information: 4. Apparently he burps a lot while asking the question).
Zane (JCC) AC 39(33), CMB 21, CMD 36, HP 240/240, Blindsense 60' Character Tuesday September 26th, 2017 1:20:15 PM
Zane goes to the prow of the ship, "Starblazer, you can hover without too much trouble, correct?" He letys the rest exit the ship, then if Starblazer answered in the affirmative, Zane will have the ship lift to the level of his rooms, He already has a stern walk (balcony) at that level, adding a general door near the stairs and extending the walk to a full circle around the tower should be easy enough, plus its about half way up or down depending on your point of view. Until the new construction is finished, his rooms will just become a pass through, he don't have must that's private anyways. After the ship is "moored" at his room level, he'll drop back down and answer any question the people in charge need that aren't already answered.

Beriothian -- AC:34+4/18+4/32+4 HP: 306/290 CMD = 23 Tuesday September 26th, 2017 9:33:29 PM
Beri walks slowly towards the front door, the robotic arm trailing behind him. Once down the stairs he leans against the wall, angling the arm so that the menacing blade catches on a hook over the fire place. He lets the rest of the arm trail along the wall over the couch, finding another hook to secure the other end in place. Once pleased with it's placement he turns around and addresses the constable. He tries to give the Constable a proper greeting but keeps getting interrupted by the noisy crowd outside.
Ah, good to see you Constable. I was just hanging up one of our trophies, we left the other 80 behind in Jericho Space. Would you like to come in for a cup of tea? I can put the kettle on if you like. What? Yeah, Jericho Space. Mind the blades on that thing Constable, they can cut a trolls arm clean off. Do come inside, I can't wait to hear what's been going on since we left. Oh, the ship? Don't worry, we'll have a skydock that's up to code by days end. Nothing but the best for our friend Starblazer, he's a great guy... of course, I'm talking about him like he's a person. He talks about himself that way, it would be rude of me not to do the same. Do come join us for a spot of tea, it will be ready any minute.

Home Sweet Hook City - [DM Hugh] Wednesday September 27th, 2017 12:14:10 AM Tink cracks a joke, suggests slowly accommodating the authorities to their trophies and then explains where Starblazer came from.
Sesha hops down, stretches and then says her and Restlin need some alone time, planning to toss the rubber piggy into the vault.
Restlin greets the people in the square from Starblazer and then is quickly escorted inside by Sesha.
Garret also hopes down and gets some meat on a stick from his favorite vendor.
Zane asks starblazer if it can hover and plans to let the others disembark to park the ship near his balcony.
Bosk reminds the others of the roof-top access they have so they could park the ship on top of the tower.
Beri takes one of the metallic arms from the ship and places it inside, explaining more about starblazer and inviting the constable in for tea.
The party splits up. Those who enter the castle find nothing has changed. Well, other than a light layer of dust.
Sesha and Restlin go down to the vault to take care finding a permanent home for Restlin's rubber piggy.
Garret goes to his favorite meat vender.
Starblazer says to Zane, "I can hover, Good Masters." and then allows itself to be maneuvered to the balcony.
Zane, Beri, Bosk, Wyaar and Tink meet with the constable and his men inside the tower's kitchen area. The Constable listens to your explanation with wide eyes. The veteran law enforcement officer has probably seen many things in his time, but this is obviously new. "Uh, well, that is... good of you to park the vessel in a way so that it is no longer blocking traffic, Iron Dragons
Not much has changed elsewhere in Hook City in the Iron Dragons absence except the status of the prisoner taken from the Death Dragon Cult's initial assault. When asked about the half-dragon minotaur, the Constable grimaces, shaking his head and scratching at his head. "I am ashamed to say we lost him. No, no, he didn't escape. I would eat my own hat if that ever happened. No, he took his own life. He hanged himself. He tore strips of his clothing and twisted them into a cord. Darn shame. We could never get any more information out of him. He did scratch a message into the wall with a nail before he died, though. Said he was going to get his reward." One of the guardsmen spits on the ground to ward off evil. "Was there anything else you needed, Iron Dragons? Things have been a bit slow since you left."
It is quickly approaching sundown.
RobC - Katinka Hushfoot -- AC 33/23/25 -- CMD 26 -- HP 185+32 -- Spells -- Active Effects Wednesday September 27th, 2017 7:22:41 AM
Tink purses her lips while stroking her chin. "So the half taur killed himself". She isn't worried about him or his soul. She's just bothered that he escaped justice. Choosing to kill himself meant he did not get to face Pantheon's wisom. "He better not get any sort of reward of I'm coming up there to sort things out!" she mentally notes to Gargul and Pantheon.
Tink turns her attention back to the guards
"Slow is good. The people here deserve peace and quiet."
She listens to anything the guards have to say, and offers advice where she can. As the sun sets she looks forward to a hot meal and a comfy bed.
Garret Goodbarrel [AC:38/34/31; +4 vs AOO HP: 167/167 Ki:12/20 CMD: 38 SR: 27] Wednesday September 27th, 2017 11:47:53 AM
Garret enjoys his meat on a stick and buys a few extra for people around. He doesn't go in the tower yet and instead hangs around with the regular people outside, listening to stories, telling some stories, and eating plenty of meat on a stick.
Zane (JCC) AC 39(33), CMB 21, CMD 36, HP 240/240, Blindsense 60' Character Wednesday September 27th, 2017 1:30:43 PM
With a wry smile, Zane makes a comment. "As you probably already know, it's never quiet for very long when we're around, so please don't say that very loud as it will bring more excitement than you may want." To the group over the link, We really shouldn't keep Gargul waiting, he may not be in a super rush, but I expect we'll be asked what took so long to respond to his invitation. He gathers up some fresh food for a day or two's worth of eating while staying within ear shot of the City Guards.
Restlin (Carl) -- AC +21/+7/+18 CMD: +20 HP: 192/192 (Spells) Luck Points: 6/22 SR: 20 Wednesday September 27th, 2017 6:15:41 PM
Restlin looks at his rubber pig, then at the vault. He looks at his pig, then at the vault. "Nuh uh. This is just a rubber piggy now. I've named it. It's not going in the vault."
Carl subbing for Wyarr Wednesday September 27th, 2017 6:17:55 PM
Wyarr waves to the people of Hook City as he goes to find his room. He was sure the rest of the Iron Dragons were as eager to get to talk to Gargul as he was.
Bosk AC: 33/16/29 CMD: 34 172 hp /172 (27+18 are temp) Spells Wednesday September 27th, 2017 9:30:05 PM
Bosk wonders if there are lesser jails in Hook City. The one he was thrown into had no place to hang ones self from and had no nails...however he does no bring this up. The fact that he was one of the first people throw into the cells in the living memory of most people is not something he is proud of.
Yes, we should see Gargul as soon as possible. I have a feeling that time is of the essence.
Sesha [AC 39 /16 To/38 Fl] | HP 178/178 | CMD 32] Wednesday September 27th, 2017 11:06:17 PM
Sesha frowns.
"I strongly recommend it goes in the vault, Mage Priest."
She will leave him to make the right decision, besides, she had a coven to check in on while she could.
---------------------------------------------
Sesha was rather pleased with the new situation regarding her coven. After getting a report from Yzargo, she found that the Woldian shifts that affected Blood Witches changed her coven drastically. The membership plummeted, but at the same time the number of actual adepts and coven witches grew.
This suited her, as it was now a matter of training sisters rather than hundreds of people who might not have understood her teachings. Things were easier for her, she imagined, than other Blood Witches growing a coven, because Serenbeth, bless her, was still a dead god.
There would be no internal struggles of faith in her coven, just the teaching of Serenbeth's tenets while she prayed fervently for a sign that her goddess could grace others than just herself. If the others chose to also venerate Serenbeth in hopes of hearing something echo back from the ether, that suited her too.
A quick activation of her teleport boots brought Sesha quickly to the modest sized sanctuary she had erected some time before. It was a quiet place, it accepted all without question, and fed and bathed those who needed it.
If needed, it had shelter rooms that could sleep several people on cots, and individual rooms where lessons were taught to children for free. People here were taught the basics of building a strong community, and protecting oneself and those they cared about.
Serenbeth had often been considered the goddess one prayed to when trying to fulfill a dream or desire, and thus that service too was provided, help in pushing one the right direction to learn to achieve their goals rather than simply wishing that it would be so.
Thus, Seshas coven, The Circle of Dreams, was born.
The sanctuary had enough permanent rooms to house her Adepts, and though there was technically space for Y'zargo, she didn't trust the lecherous warlock to share a space with her younger and more innocent female adepts, so he often slept in whatever womans sleeping quarters he could talk himself into.
---------------------------------
Sesha had several ideas about her coven, but sadly, no time to implement them. She steps through the kitchens and finds Y'zargo there, eating fruit out of a clay bowl.
"Yzargo, have the coven ready tomorrow morning. It will be our first coven circle, and we will all be together for the first time. I'll need to draw on everyone's strength, I imagine. The world outside of the Circle is in some turmoil, and I'll be expected to help calm it."
The handsome drow cohort nods, then adds. "Thank you my beautiful mistresses. The honor of carrying your request to the Circle fills my heart with pfftbtbt...." His sentence is cut off, as Sesha puts a slender ebony finger over his lips.
"No flattery Y'zargo. Just your help please. Sadly, I've been to absent to best know all the folk in my own circle thus far. It wouldn't be appropriate for my first message to them to be a demand. Please just make sure they are all here. I would like to spend time in the Sanctuary for a little while, meeting those that come in, and then we can talk about how the change affected you and I, blood-kin."
Y'zargo raises an eyebrow.
"Blood-kin? If I understand the barbaric roots of your dialect well enough, I would have thought that term was limited to your drow family."
Sesha smiles wearily.
"It's a long story, but I'll be a matron soon enough, and plan to adopt you into the family afterwards. May your penchant for procreation do the House well merit in the future."
---------------------------
Sesha takes a moment to say goodbyes, then teleports back to Hook City.

Home Sweet Hook City - [DM Hugh] Thursday September 28th, 2017 12:44:10 AM Tink is bothered by the fact the taur killed itself she mentally thinks it better not have gotten a reward. She says slow is good for the people of Hook City and looks forward to a hot meal and a comfy bed.
Garret remains outside by the meat vendor treating other people to meat on the stick. He doesn't go to the tower just yet and spends some time socializing with the denizens of Hook City.
Zane interjects that it is never really quiet and suggests to the group over the link they shouldn't keep Gargul waiting as he gathers up provisions.
Restlin looks at his piggy then at the vault then at the piggy. He tells Sesha that he is not putting the piggy in the vault as he named it so he is keeping it.
Wyaar waves to the people of Hook City as he goes to find his room eager to contact Gargul.
Bosk wonders about the existence of lesser jails in Hook City as the one they original placed the taur in had no nails but he does not bring this up. Bosk concurs about going to see Gargul as soon as possible.
Sesha suggests Restlin put the Piggy in the Vault and then goes to check on her Coven. She reflects on how her Coven changed with her magic and then teleports to her sanctuary the Circle of Dreams using her boots. She finds Y'zargo eating fruit from a bowl in the kitchen and asks him to gather the coven tomorrow and drops a hint about her status of Matron and says it is a long story before bidding him good bye and returning to Hook City.
Beri silently sips his tea in the kitchen.
It would appear there is some division among the Dragons on the topic of when they should contact Gargul about a meeting. Some want to get it over with post haste while others are looking forward to a decent night's rest and Garret is still outside of the tower eating Meat on a Stick and spending some time among the people. Gargul DID want to meet with ALL the Iron Dragons so if you are going to reach out to him probably best to have everyone assembled than be missing your small monk. (OOC: Please decide whether you want to attempt to contact Gargul that evening or wait until the next morning)

There are so many things Tink wants to do. Have a bath, get some sleep, check in with Inspector Auslander, check in with Mara, finally finish the book she started, finish her crafting, spend some time with the citizens all come straight to mind. Unfortunately Zane truly has the right of it. Personal desires will have to be put on temporary hold.
"Uh, Garrett, you may want to return to the tower so that we can all go see Gargul together. With something blocking his vision he will no doubt be unhappy. Keeping him waiting would be somewhat unwise I would think" Tink sends the message telepathically to Garrett.
These dragon rings sure are handy.
Zane (JCC) AC 39(33), CMB 21, CMD 36, HP 240/240, Blindsense 60' Character Thursday September 28th, 2017 7:12:38 AM "Keeping meerly mortal powerful people waiting is usually a bad idea, I really don't want to irritate a GOD, just because someone was eating Meat on a Stick. Of course we can blame the delay on Garret and let him take the brunt of the irritation. We can just say even though he's small, he's very elusive when trying to catch him....." Zane comments over their link. Having packed, he's ready to go. He'll just run up to Starblazer to ask a question.... "Starblazer, do you follow anyone's order who is on your deck, or was command somehow transferred to our group? If transferred, no problem, if anyone can command him. [b]"I may have to park Starblazer a bit higher than here."[b] Zane says over the link to the group.
Sesha [AC 39 /16 To/38 Fl] | HP 178/178 | CMD 32] Thursday September 28th, 2017 10:19:10 AM
Sesha is willing to procrastinate, but that's only because of all the hullabaloo with Garguls priests. She even briefly considers not going, but immediately dispels the thought as cowardice. Besides, she'd rather hear the information right from the source.
"I'm ready."
Garret Goodbarrel [AC:38/34/31; +4 vs AOO HP: 167/167 Ki:12/20 CMD: 38 SR: 27] Thursday September 28th, 2017 11:36:20 AM

He grabs a spare meat on a stick and shoves it in his belt pouch, says goodbye to everyone outside, grabs one more meat on a stick to go, and starts chomping on it as he heads inside the tower. He says, through mouthfuls of meat, "So how, exactly, do we go to meet? We don't have to kill ourselves or anything, right?"
Carl subbing for Wyarr Thursday September 28th, 2017 12:41:10 PM
Wyarr puts his hand on Garret's shoulder. "No, Garret. It would be wrong to kill ourselves. I'm sure Bosk here has the big guy's ear enough to make this meeting happen."
Wyarr is ready to go immediately as well.

Restlin shrugs and puts Waddles back into his pouch. He frowns as his suspicions are confirmed & Sesha walks away to take care of her stuff.
OOC: I've discussed the pig w/ the DMs ahead of time. This isn't a trap I'm walking us into. :D
"Well, Waddles, guess we get to go talk to the god of death now." No longer on a luck quest, Restlin makes sure his gear is all in order. The quest went as well as can be expected, but it feels good to have all his stuff again."
Restlin is ready to go immediately.

Beriothian finishes his tea while waiting for garret, along with a few finger sandwiches. Typically some meat on a stick would be much more satisfying, but after all that travel there is something about having soft bread, fresh produce, and delicate cheese that satisfies his stomach in a way that travel rations had been neglecting.
Bosk AC: 33/16/29 CMD: 34 172 hp /172 (27+18 are temp) Spells Thursday September 28th, 2017 10:28:19 PM Garrett, you better hurry back so we can leave. These enemies are crazy. Did you notice that in their entire place there was no kitchen or meat on a stick? We cannot let them take over.
The cleric tells everyone to make any last minute trips to the Catacombs and stock up on supplies. Once everyone is back the cleric begins praying to Gargul and lets them know they are back and ready. He has learned that it is always best to start by contacting Gargul and ask to be transported over, but if the god once again cannot be reached he will peer into the realm of shadows and then dark walk the group into the Shadowlands if it is safe.
The best laid plans... - [DM Hugh] Friday September 29th, 2017 12:09:00 AM Tink resolves to put her personal errands on hold so the united Dragons can reach out to Gargul. She then advises that Garret return to the tower lest he make Gargul angry over her Dragon ring.
Zane agrees about not wanting to keep Gargul waiting because someone was eating meat on a stick. He also points out they can just tell the Lord of Death Garret is small and elusive as the reason for why they were late. He asks Starblazer if anyone on its deck can order it around and Starblazer replies, "You became my Good Masters when you defeated my old masters in combat. As long as no one defeats you in combat or you specifically tell me you are abandoning me I remain in your service or the service of anyone else you verify."
Sesha considers procrastinating or not going but decides that shirking the meeting would be cowardice.
Garret receives the messages and grumbles over the link that he is coming. He gets a spare meat on a stick and shoves it in his belt. He then asks if they have to kill themselves to meet with Gargul.
Wyaar informs Garret that it would be wrong to kill themselves and reasons that Bosk has the Big Guy's ear.
Restlin shrugs, puts Waddles away and then reclaims the rest of his gear as the luck quest is over.
Beri is also ready and fortifies himself for the journey with some tea and finger sandwiches.
Bosk points out to Garret that there were no meat on a stick vendors on Soma so if the Death Dragon Cult took over things would be bad as further motivation for the halfling.
The group heads for the teleportation circle room and Bosk begins his prayer to Gargul. It doesn't take long before they hear a familiar BAMF! and see a familiar puff of black smoke.
When the smoke clears hovering before the Iron Dragons once again is Gimp the Imp, "I have arrived in answer to your prayers. Awesome right?" and he winks.
He continues a sheepish look on his face "So, um you guys know what they say about the Will of the Gods not being for mortal minds to question and all that jazz? Well it turns out the Bossman actually needs more time to analyze the situation. He still has a job with your names on it but things might be more complex than He originally thought. Looking on the bright side, your layover in Plateau City didn't keep the Big Guy waiting after all and you probably have time to gorge yourselves on scores of sticks laden with loads of meat if you so desired. Gluttony can be fun, amirite? The imp turns his gaze to Garret with the last couple of comments.
Imp then gets a far off look on his face and says to the ether, "Uh huh, okay. right, sure sure." and he nods his head in agreement.
He then turns his gaze back to the Dragons, "Well this is a surprise but the Boss has told me to apologize for inconveniencing little old you with his delay. He must really like you guys. Anyhoo before I leave he wants me to try to answer any questions you may have so hit me with your best shot and fire away" and the Imp once again makes finger guns this time going so far as to say, "pew pew"

Beri thinks about what he could ask Gargul that could be of help. We've been dealing with a massive cult. Have they been wiped out at this point, or does Gargul believe this was just one branch of the cult? And does he believe they will be looking for us, or will we have to hunt them down? I really hope we can have a few days to breathe and enjoy our meat on a stick, but I don't want to let my guard down too much if a few hundred minions will be knocking on our door in the middle of the night.

The fact that Gargu is delayed due to the complexity of the issue worries Bosk. Such situations have never worked out in the clerics favor in the past. Gimp, please tell us all you know about the situation. every little bit will help us to better prepare so we can be ready to serve Gargul the moment he is ready.
The best laid plans... - [DM Hugh] Sunday October 1st, 2017 7:17:18 PM Tink says that Gargul needn't apologize and then asks how long he expects the Iron Dragons to wait, wondering if it might be time enough to become more presentable.
Sesha asks if Gargul's will is to purge blood witches.
Garret offers Gimp some meat on the stick as he is unsure how to act.
Beri thinks about what to ask that could be of some help. He settles on trying to ask how big the cult is in its entirety and if they will be coming for them or will they have to go after the cult some more.
Restlin looks sideways at Sesha and then back at Imp curious to know the answer to her question.
Zane asks if the other gods are aware of what is going on or if they are suffering anything similar themselves.
Bosk is worried that Gargul is delayed and then ask Gimp all he knows of the situation.
Gimp says to Tink, "I'd say days is the time frame you can expect considering what the Big Guy is up to currently. He has to actually take a short trip himself to follow up on a hunch. So you do have time to buy yourselves something pretty and get yourselves dolled up before the meeting."
Gimp says to Sesha, "You know how high ranking clerics sometimes get when a God is busy with something blocking his perception that turns out to be a blasphemous cult? Or maybe you don't until now...anyway the Boss is currently dealing with this situation we find ourselves in and he doesn't necessarily have time for the more approval-seeking prone in the church hierarchy with their trivialities. So they interpreted His silence as something it wasn't and they wrongly thought hey maybe we can honor Gargul with a large scale blood sacrifice. Eorcenbald will straighten them out though. Bossman has nothing against those of the blood witch discipline well save for the individuals who abuse their powers and reincarnate someone or something or make it rain wold's blood or something like that. Gargul isn't the only God who no longer forms pacts with Bloodwitches none of the others do from either pantheon anymore including Ffloy and don't get me started on how that guy loves his deals. The immortal powers though are more than happy to take up the slack as you got new ones jumping out of the wood work all the time it seems"
Gimp says to Garret in a monotone voice, "You're offering is accepted." and then proceeds to eat meat from the stick the halfling monk offered while continuing to answer questions with his mouth full.
Gimp says to Beri "Mmphph...Meat on a stick...Mmphm is enjoyable..Mmphmp...isn't it? Now about that cult...from what we've determined...Mmpmhp...the cell that attacked you jumped the gun...mpmmph...while they were obviously part of a larger....mmphm...group that you also went after the leadership of ...mpmmh...and took out...kudos to you again...they don't seem in any hurry to lash out further against ...mpmmh...your group from what we can tell, but considering you rekt everyone else in the cult you dealt with can you blame them?" Still though can't hurt to be vigilant just in case." and the imp lets out a belch having finished the treat.
To Zane Gimp says, "None of the other God's appear to be up against a cult of heretical blasphemers at the moment, no. As for them knowing about the Big Guy's problems well I would wager that Alemi knows and Marteaus at least suspects. As the only member of both pantheons Gargul is in a tenuous position sometimes. It is hard to keep anything from Alemi and well Marteaus and Gargul do have a unique connection so it would be strange for him to not know something was up."
To Bosk says, "The Boss really appreciates your devotion. As the Wold's only Grim Avenger you really have your eye on the prize and have been a faithful servant. I've pretty much told you all I can right now. Gargul has to delay your meeting because he needs to take a trip. I can't tell you where he's going but suffice it to say it is important to figuring out what is going on."
Gimp then flies over to Garret and tussles the monk's hair before saying to all of you, "Look it's been a real slice or maybe a stick but I gotta get back. Don't call us, we'll call you." and with a BAMF! Gimp is gone again.
(OOC: Gimp has bestowed upon Garret a minor blessing and instead of the stench of unwashed halfling, Garret will smell of blood when he doesn't take care of personal hygiene for the next week)

When he gets to his room, he looks out the doors and says, "Starblazer, if you need anything, or someone tries to steal you, feel free to disturb me." With that said, he climbs up on the two short posts in the corner of the room and with a flinch of discomfort he settles into what looks like a very uncomfortable position, closes his eyes and sees to become oblivious to most things, when in truth his attention is more focused that ever, letting his body go on auto pilot and rotating through his other senses clearing each one and then meshing them all together after each one had been centered.
Sesha [AC 39 /16 To/38 Fl] | HP 178/178 | CMD 32] Monday October 2nd, 2017 3:14:28 PM
Sesha makes her way down into her cavern styled room, and slips off her boots.
Smiling at the cool rock under her feet, she kneels and finds herself in prayer. It always helped, trying to just commune with Little Spirit. As usual, her relationship with Serenbeth was as much dialogue as worship.
"Hello again. Your emissary is once more full of doubt, and it clouds her judgement. Little Spirit, is there anything I should be doing in your name right now? I know Gimp told me to let Eorcenbald handle it, but you are where my fealty lies."
She thinks a moment, then carries on.
"Sanctuary seems to be doing well under the management of the adepts and Y'zargo. Hopefully people will learn of your tenets and even if they can't reach out to you like I can, it will help strengthen their lives and give a little hope."
She blows out the incense candle she had lit, and sits quietly in the dark, deep in her thoughts.

Hook City Nightlife - [DM Hugh] Tuesday October 3rd, 2017 1:28:06 AM Beri goes to thank Gimp, but the Imp is gone by the time he gets a word in edgeways. He opines there is little the Dragons can be certain of and asks if anyone has suggestions on purchases that could improve their longevity.
Tink is really concerned about Gargul getting personally involved and then bids everyone good night.
Wyaar also turns in starting a draft of a Catacombs shopping list.
Restlin puts his arm around Sesha and remarks that all religions have their misguided priests. He ponders his own relationship with Wardd and then starts reading his Tome of Clear Thought.
Garret's draw drops open at Tink's pronouncement and then he makes the pronouncement he is going to find a bar with free peanuts when she abruptly turns in.
Zane also heads to his room and then tells Starblazer to let him know if it needs anything or if anyone tries to steal it. He then positions himself in an uncomfortable position in order to center himself.
Sesha makes her way to her cavern-styled chamber and then slips off her boots. She lights an incense candle and then expresses her concerns about the situation with Gargul before opening hope for her sanctuary before blowing out her candle and going deep in thought.
Beri asks Garret to wait up and then suggests the Dwarven Bar known as the Truthful Lyre because of its fresh pretzels and growlers.
Bosk makes a trip to the catacombs and then joins Beri and Garret at the Truthful Lyre.
The bar is everything that Beri described it as. There are fresh pretzels a variety of brews at varying temperature levels appropriate to the ideal conditions for drinking each as apparently the kegs in this place are themselves Teucri artifacts. The 3 dragons are well received and their first drinks are on the house.
Zane becomes centered.
Sesha gets the feeling from Serenbeth that she has already done everything she can on the matter of Gargul she also has a reciprocal feeling of hope from her patron regarding the sanctuary.
3 of the dragons are at the Truthful Lyre, the rest of the company are in their rooms.

Restlin was incredibly skilled, he always had been, but only recently had he changed his focus in combat to -doing- amazing things rather than -summoning- things that were amazing. The difference was subtle, but impressive.
"Mistress?"
Sesha jumped with a start as her own voice caught her off guard. She had forgotten about her Simulacra. It was strange, looking up seeing her own face studying her intently.
"Yes, Sister? And don't call me that, call me the same as I call you. Sister is just fine." Then Simulacra nodded, but appeared troubled. "Technically, we aren't related. And you did create me. And I do follow your.."
Sesha waved her hand dismissively, they had hashed this out before, or so she thought. How much of her own stubbornness was in this thing?
"What do you want, Sister?"
With a sigh, the magical replica motioned towards Seshas alchemical laboratory. "I imagine that everyone will be sleeping soon. I'm going to return to the lab to oversee your clone for the evening. Have you any other requests?"
With a shake of her head, Sesha answered her construct, given life by magic but made of both illusion and ice.
"No thanks. If you want, you can borrow a book or something to help pass the time?"
Sister shook her head and smiled. "No thank you, it is not necessary. I am not mortal, and the passing of time for me is something I choose to notice, or not. When my psyche is not actively engaged, time literally has no meaning."
With that, the simulacrum nods goodnight, and heads off to her work.

Restlin complains about his book being dull and feels himself getting smarter but doesn't know if it is ultimately worth it.
Wyaar decided to go to the pub after all when it turns out they have amazing pretzels.
Sesha reflects on how Restlin has changed from someone who summoned amazing things to somone who did amazing things. She then is interrupted from her thought by her Simulacra. They have a brief conversation regarding what the Simulcra should call her and the Simulcra asks if Sesha needs anything to which she replies in the negative and Sister goes off to tend to the clone.
Garret gorges himself on pretzels, he drinks some but mainly just focuses on the pretzels. He ultimately challenges Wyaar to an eating contest.

Restlin eats some cheese and grapes as he reads his tome. The book was not his idea of a good time and he watches Tink go downstairs.
Sesha looks up from the breakfast table with Sister.. She finishes her pear, instructs her Simulcra not to go anywhere and turns to watch the visitor.

It would be very valuable to me as a researcher to learn everything you observed. It would be even more valuable to me to have exclusive access to this information until after I publish my first treatise. Academia can be rather cutthroat."

Sesha tosses her pear core, and considers Agatha.
Right or wrong, she felt a kinship with the woman. Not only was she a bloodwitch, but she also held pact with a dead god, and she felt like she both understood and respected people who could be self serving in a world with so many powerful forces trying to bring people into line and servitude, whether willing or not.
The dark elf stands, crosses over, and stops a few feet away.
"Sesha, strict follower of the path of the bloodwitch. Bonded to Serenbeth, dead sister of Jantierri, Jancaissis, and Mittiri."
She thinks a moment, just a quick pause, then adds.
"What really prompts your request for knowledge, Agatha? Is it simply gaining an edge on your peers or something more serious? If it's valuable to you, then I imagine you have a buying price in mind for the information. If you seek the knowledge for something other than it's value, then there's a deeper goal that drives you."
Sesha shrugs.
"We prefer simple honesty. I won't judge you it you simply seek accolade and profit among your peers, its a honest pursuit in life to seek glory in any form. But be prepared to pay a pretty sum for exclusive access to this valuable information."
Sesha ponders the words spoken for a moment.
"Are you the only Star Mage aware of our travels? My guess is no, because you have requested we share with you exclusively. That sounds like others might show up and want access to the same."

Restlin's eyes roll back so hard he nearly falls over. Star Mages. Restlin did not like Star Mages. They were everything he hated about the arcane arts. Stuffy, secretive, overly intellectual, stuffy...the list goes on. He was not happy this woman was in their tower. He walks downstairs.

He turns to their guest. "Look, Agatha," he begins. His tone is super casual; he wants this woman to know how not-impressed he is. "We don't have any kind of centralized leadership here, so I'm not gonna unilaterally say we're not going to help you. I will say I'm not inclined to. Never much liked the way you ivory tower folks handled knowledge, and I'm not sure why you'd think we'd immediately give you some sort of 'exclusive access' (Restlin makes little air quotes with his fingers) just because you're the first person to ask. There's a whole bunch of unknown, shadowy folks out there doing stuff we're not even sure about yet. Heck, we just know you wrote a book and have stepped on enough people to rise up the ranks of the Star Mages."
He finds a comfortable spot to sit & light a pipe. He didn't smoke much, but this seemed like a good time. "Maybe you'll have better luck with Sesha. She likes other witches a lot more than I like other wizards."

Wyarr's not sure what to make of the woman. He senses no evil on her, but that doesn't make her a good person. Restlin doesn't seem to like her very much, and that guy's pretty on top of things most of the time. He takes a seat and waits to see what happens.

Zane being a natural magician, in simp0lier words he innately knows how magic works, has little use for books on magic and has absolutely no clue who the woman is. "Personally, I don't have much use for very many books, but spreading the knowledge we have learned is a good thing I believe. If we only tell you, it might be years before that knowledge gets to those who need it." He crosses his arms and looks at the woman.

Beri talks to the group privately over their rings.
I think it goes without saying that we talk to Gargul and the DC before we make any promises. And do you remember what happened the last time someone came to us asking us to take a side? We had all of Hook City, and the refugees of Mudtown, all coming to us. Also, I agree with Zane, Gargul may have reason for us to hide certain details for the safety of the Wold, but academically no good can come of hiding data, it just makes it easier for someone to manipulate a narrative to match their thesis.
Beri takes a sip of his coffee, then addresses their guest Let's start with the obvious questions of who else would be asking for this information and what exactly your academic interest is in it? I'm only seeing one real crossover between this and your last book, and it's pretty terrifying... but also something that piques my interest as a druid.
On a side note, do you happen to have an unusual summons or a transformation you could teach me?

Busy nods in agreement. We should check with Gargul first. After all, all knowledge can be used for good or evil, and we saw some of the evil side the other day. Also, any fee would have to be substantial, otherwise I say we open it up to several prominent scholars, which I would want magically tested to verify their honesty and truthfulness. That way, if there is any danger, hopefully at least one will warm up.

DM Post incoming, sorry I fell asleep
Good Morning, Good Morning - [DM Hugh] Friday October 6th, 2017 4:09:28 AM Tink points out the woman's grey robe of the arch-magi over the link and how Agatha pretty much wears her alignment on the good and evil axis on her sleeve. She says they haven't shared anything yet but would only do so if it is safe to do so and invites her for tea.
Sesha feels a kinship with Agatha and asks her what is really driving her and if Agatha is the only Starmage who aware of the Iron Dragons' recent travels.
Restlin does not like Star Mages as they represent everything about other wizards that he doesn't like. He tells Beri and Tink about her book about summoning things and then bluntly states he isn't inclined to help Agatha but he isn't going to unilaterally say no. He then smokes his pipe and points out she might have better luck with Sesha.
Wyaar doesn't know what to make of the woman as he senses no evil on her but she is disliked by Restlin. He takes a seat and watches how things play out.
Garret continues sleeping letting out loud snores while he dreams of sawing future logs.
Zane's use of magic is instinctual not intellectual so he doesn't really know who Agatha is. He states he is for spreading knowledge but is concerned that if they gave her an exclusive it might be years before the word gets out to those that need it.
Beri suggests they talk to Gargul and the DC before they make any promises reminding the group of how the last time they were ask to take a side they had Hook City, Mudtown and all sorts of refugees showing up at their doorstep. Beri then asks Agatha what her interest is and that there is only one terrifying crossover between the knowledge they possess and the last book and to Beri it is terrifying but also of interest to Beri as a druid. He also asks her if she has any unusual summons or transformations she could teach him.
Bosk opines they should check with Gargul first as knowledge can be used for good or ill. He also says that unless the fee is substantial they should open it up to several scholars that they test thoroughly.
Tink: Highlight to display spoiler: {Agatha's copper headband with large yellow gem on it radiates strong transmutation. Agatha's amulet that resembles a metal leaf, hanging on her neck near the star mage pendent, radiates faint transmutation. Agatha's circlet with a deep red gem set in it radiates moderate enchantment, Agatha's belt which has a giant on it radiates strong transmutation and her robe radiates strong conjuration and abjuration. }
Agatha says to Tink, "Thank you, tea would be lovely. No we wouldn't want knowledge that could destroy the Wold getting into the wrong hands, that is part of why the star mages guild is generally selective in who they treat with and does not condone evil acts or magic"
Agatha says to Sesha, "I believe all knowledge is worth having. As I said I noticed your vessel and it piqued my interest. I then delved into where your most recent journey took you with my divination magic and then saw the vast dead thing and I was further intrigued. I never saw anything like it and was curious as to how it came into being. As far as academia goes well I have to remain in good standing with the star mages guild and they expect us to research, publish and teach. I would like to be elevated to archmage ultimately as I believe from that prestigious position I may be in a better spot to help Jantierri come back. If death is not necessarily the end for adventurers and heroes might it not be an end for the Gods as well? Surely sister you must have thought of the potential ramifications for spreading the worship of Serenbeth as a Matron?"
Agatha says to Restlin, "Fair enough, one cannot be too cautious."
Agatha says to Zane, "While I may compile a second book and whatever it is you encounter may be a part of that my current interest is to write a much shorter monograph with a short time to publish. Whatever it is I saw is definitely something I want to write about. Bringing it to the attention of the guild should get me recognized further and hopefully put me in the running for an archmage position whenever one opens up."
Agatha says to Beri, "I honestly am not sure who else specifically might be interested in the information you possess. There is a large academic community. I'm not sure who else is even aware of whatever it is you encountered out there but I would imagine once I published my monograph and presented it at lecture you might others show up also interested. I have no interest in sitting on this information, I intend to share it with other star mages and hopefully make a large splash when I do. As far as a summon or transformation perhaps I can but whether doing so is part of the transaction that yields the information I seek or a separate transaction is yet to be seen. Who knows where negotiations may take us?"
Agatha says to the group, " in exchange for access to the information I seek I offer a dire omen I received from Janiterri. A vision. A vision concerning the Iron Dragons, and a threat to the entire Wold."
She spreads her hands. "What say you? I will not object to you casting any truth-telling magics you wish to verify my words."

Tink isn't convinced. She's in the same camp as Restlin. The Star Mages guild were a very secretive bunch.
Her justicar senses are tingling.
"If you have had a vision in terms of a threat to the entire Wold, why wouldn't you share it freely? How can we trust that the information we provide will be shared freely, when something that threatens the entire Wold isn't? If you have anything to share with us, please do. We'd be happy to hear it over tea and a biscuit." Tink turns to Zane to whisper "I saw Garret in the pantry earlier. We may need to get more biscuits"
"Having exclusive access to information doesn't sit well with me. It turns knowledge into a commodity. IF it is agreed to share with you what we have learned, I would also be looking to share it at the same time with the Sages Guild. The Sages Guild have long been known for the proper recording, storing and sharing of information. The Star Mages guild has somewhat of a secretive reputation"
Wyarr - Carl Subbing Friday October 6th, 2017 11:44:14 AM "How fast can you write?" asks Wyarr. "We're all flying dark here, a little prophecy from a goddess of prophecy may not be a bad thing. How much 'exclusive access' time do you need? If we're talking a few weeks before we share it with the rest of the Wold, it might be worth it."

Ugh, this woman was pushing all of Restlin's buttons. If there's one thing he disliked more than Star Mages, it was divination. In his opinion, prophecies and divination existed only to let the diviner smile smugly and say "I told you so" after their cryptic comments about flying cows and backwards clocks weren't deciphered properly.
Still, it was a prophecy from a goddess Sesha honored at least tangentially. That counted for something.
"How useful is this omen? Is it something we can use, or something that will make sense to us after we're already doomed? I absolutely refuse to allow my last thoughts to be about a Star Mage giving me a 'told you so' look."

"Tink, while I have no doubts that this woman will give us the information we need if the world is truly at risk, her outlook on life is different than ours. While we might feel like that's information that needs to be shared at all costs without delay, she likely realizes we are in no position to turn her down, so she may as well benefit from the exchange of information.
Besides, I know this woman is hanging a carrot in front of me, and she might be playing me like a card, but I literally cannot refuse her. Please forgive me."
She smiles at Agatha.
"Restoring Serenbeth as a proper power or goddess is one of a few things I feel like I mush accomplish in this life. You've got my attention. Also, there's apparently a risk to the Wold, which is my first duty, after Serenbeth. At the very least, you have my cooperation, on the condition you share any information about the resurrection of the fallen gods with me without condition and without further cost. You'll have to convince the other Dragons though. I probably can't react to the vision alone, and seven dragons is better than one."

Beri shakes his head making no effort do hide his disgust. Nope, I'm out. You do NOT come into our house and try to extort us. When there is a threat to the entire Wold, a good person does NOT demand a bribe and hold it's safety hostage.
I dare say you are right though, bringing this to the attention of the guild should get you recognized, and I'd be shocked if your actions didn't influence your standing for an archmage position.
Beri takes a sip of his coffee and his demeanor softens a bit.
Perhaps you didn't quite intend that the way it sounded. Such information would indeed be useful, and I don't think anyone here would disagree you deserved to be rewarded for any aid you could provide in protecting the Wold. And I've been told I tend to take people a little too literally before I've had my coffee.

Tink isn't surprised at all by Sesha jumping on board at the mention of her goddess. "She is just so impulsive" Tink decides "The aggression towards the council in Plateau City, and now jumping in with both feet at the mention of her goddess. At least she recognises that she is likely being played like a card"
"Sorry Sesha, but I'm holding my ground on this one. I refuse to see information bartered or kept from others. If we give her this information I cannot accept it to be exclusive - regardless of how many times she mentions Sereneth"
With Beri's reaction, Tink decides it's probably best to calm things down a little. Not only was there the entire Wold to think about, but what about the reputation of the Iron Dragons?
The party look to be going in different directions, so Tink puts forward a proposal that hopefully meets everyone's agendas.
"Look" Tink says as she raises her head skywards and exhales "We've had a really long few weeks. Assassins jumping us, fighting a deranged monstrologer and his pets, finding the killer of Bosk's parents - even discovering their bones - venturing into Jericho Space and back, not to mention the large fleshy thing, and a meeting with Gargul himself. Last night was the first night in a long time that we even got to sleep in our own beds."
Tink sighs and looks to Agatha
"I'm sorry if we have come off as a bit gruff. It's simply when someone comes to us with news of a dire event, we expect them to share it with us freely.
Since you wish to instead make deals, this is what I would propose. We will find out what information we are free to share. You then share what you have divined and if it truly important and worthwhile we pass on what we are allowed to. At the same time I will also share it with the Sages Guild. I have no doubt that a person in your good standing would have some influence with them, so you may convince them to sit on the information for a while, or at least until you have had a head start with your book. At least in this regards we have seen the information go to where it is needed, and eases our concerns that it might be kept a secret forever.
That would be my deal. If you choose not to accept it, that is absolutely your decision and I would hold no ill feeling. I would keep in mind that being a part of the Dragon Consortium we have access to many great seers and allies who would likely have had the same premonitions. That or we ask Gargul directly when we next see him. For coming to us first, we would in turn do you this favor to have access to our information directly and to ask us questions as we do."
She *thinks* this addresses all the concerns and points raised by the others.
Tink feels very strongly that information should be shared freely. She cannot in good conscience agree to a deal that could see it hidden away.

Bosk scratches his head. Seems to me thata place as law laiden as Hook City would have laws about withholding information that could lead to the city's destruction. In fact, I think we may have been advised of that when we saved the city without notifying enough people first. Body cannot believe anyone would hold the world hostage as a bargaining chip, and even more strongly believe anyone who can do so can not be trusted.
The Art of the Deal - [DM Hugh] Sunday October 8th, 2017 4:15:42 PM Tink points out how it is suspect that someone with information of a potential threat to the Wold could withhold that information as a bargaining chit and then be trusted to share other information later. She also gives her opinion on how commodifying knowledge through exclusive access does not sit well with her and if they did deem to share what they learned with Agatha they would also want to share it with the Sage's guild as they have a reputation for recording, storing and sharing information while the star mages tend to be more secretive.
Wyaar asks Agatha how fast she can write, how much time she needs and if it is only a few weeks maybe that delay would be worth it in exchange for some knowledge courtesy of the Goddess of Prophesy.
Restlin is having all his buttons pushed by Agatha. He does not like divination as in his opinion the school exists to let a diviner smugly say I told you so. He asks how useful the omen is, is it straight forward or more cryptic. He isn't keen on his last thought being a star mage giving him an I told you so look.
Zane has had his fill of prophesy having survived one already so he stands there and let the others deal with their guest.
Garret finally wakes up possibly because of all the discussion going on over the link. He considers leaving the ring off at night in the future before being interrupted by the call of nature.
Sesha can see that Tink is being defensive but is of the opinion that the Iron Dragons don't have much choice. She tries to allay Tink's concern over the link while pointing out that Agatha's philosophy is likely different that that of the Iron Dragons and she acknowledges that the woman is dangling a carrot and may be playing her like a card but she cannot refuse her. She then says out loud that Agatha has her attention as seeing Serenbeth restored is one of her life goals. She also says that preserving the Wold is her second duty after Serenbeth so Agatha has Sesha's cooperation at least on the condition that Agatha share unconditionally and without further cost any information she comes across regarding the restoration of fallen Gods but Sesha can only speak for herself so Agatha will have to convince the other dragons.
Beri states that he is out and that one does not simply walk into to the Iron Dragons' tower and try to extort them. He moralizes saying when the Wold is in trouble a good person does not ask for a bribe and it's safety hostage. He also says she is probably right about bringing the information to the Star Mage's guild should influence her standing and he would be shocked if it didn't effect her standing for an arch mage position. Beri takes a sip of his coffee and says perhaps you didn't mean things to come out the way they sounded as he has been known to take things too literally before he's had his coffee as the information she possesses could be useful and noone would deny Agatha would deserve a reward for bringing it to their attention.
Restlin is surprised that Beri may be getting angry and nudges Wyaar with an elbow as he wants to get a good seat if Beri is going to give the star mage what for.
Tink chalks up Sesha's positioning to her being impulsive especially when anyone mentions Serenbeth but at least Sesha recognizes she's likely being played like a card. Tink says over the link that she is holding her ground on this one and that she cannot agree to that the information be given exclusively. With Beri's outburst she feels it is important to try to calm things down. Tink apologizes for coming across a bit gruff and explains that last night was the first time they had some down time giving a short rehash of their recent adventures and when someone comes with news of a dire event they expect it to be shared freely but instead since Agatha seeks to make a deal Tink proposes one. The deal proposed is The Iron Dragons will figure out what information they are free to share then Agatha will share her divination and if the Iron Dragons judge it important they will share what they can both with her and a representative from the Sage's guild. Agatha would be free to make a separate agreement with the sage's for them to delay the release of the information. She says in this case the information will go where it is needed and eases concerns that the information be kept secret forever. Tink lastly points out that that would be her deal and if Agatha turned it down Tink would hold no ill will. She also points out that the Iron Dragons themselves have power allies of their own with seers among them or they could ask Gargul directly the next time they see him. For Coming to the Iron Dragons first Agatha would be given the favor of having direct access to the information and asking them questions.
Bosk wonders if holding information that could lead to Hook City hostage is against the law and thinks the Dragons themselves may have been admonished when they saved the city in the past without letting enough people know. He can't believe anyone would hold the wold hostage as a bargaining chip and finds anyone who does so suspect.
Agatha says to the group, "Let me share with you all a little bit of my personal journey. I began my career as a conjurer eschewing enchantment and illusion to improve my ability to summon things and I payed the 25 gold to gain access to the Star Mages guild library as a novice. After gaining a bit of experience as a wizard I was unsatisfied with restrictions placed on what I could summon and decided to expand my knowledge of summoned creatures by making a pact and joining the ranks of the bloodwitches."
"I can't quite say if I found a whisper of Janiterri or if it found me but I think our meeting was driven by my drive for knowledge. I was granted the knowledge domain from this whisper and with the flexibility allowed of blood witches I was able to summon a wider range of creatures in my wizardry discipline. I further sought a way to expand my studying of both traditions of magic and reached the height of what was possible as a mystic theurge but I still wasn't satisfied."
"The whisper came to my aid once again and I had to lose some proficiency with Abjuration, Evocation and Necromancy in addition to the penalties imposed by my previous opposition schools but I made due with mostly conjuration, transmutation, divination and universal spells with the odd additional effort of casting from opposed schools as I took additional council from both my whisper and others I was not aware of existing. During this time I worked my way up the rungs in the star mages guild advancing as far as I could shy of a leadership position as an archmage. Given the politics in the guild my status as someone who isn't a wizard alone caused some controversy and rankled some feathers but I did all I could to adhere to the guild's traditions. I had to be better than my detractors and work twice as hard because I knew they would attack me for any little thing."
"The ethos of the guild is spellcasting services to the public should not be preformed for free therefore to live by the ethos of the guild I had to extract a deal with you before I shared what I knew. You see my prophetic vision came about in part due to spells I had been casting. In order to live up to this ethos I need the guarantee of something at least from you in exchange for my information. I am not necessarily opposed to giving you my divination up front but I need better than you have to consider what I share useful as useful is a very subjective term."
"Additionally the nature of the art of prophesy itself is that it is sometimes vague or after the fact the actions of the people hearing it can be effected by it making it self-fulfilling. I can't say for certain how useful the prophesy I have may be to you but perhaps you have encountered something in your travels that would make it relevant to you and you would know of the references in it; perhaps not? Regardless in order to live up to the ethos of the guild I need some guarantee that I will be paid for my services and what I seek is a few weeks head start on the Sage's guild when it comes to what you can share of what you found in Jericho Space so I can write and present my monograph."
"I do not object to the information becoming available to the general public per se in fact it may be better for the Star Mages guild if it did because my monograph and lecture could establish the Star Mages as an authority on the subject. I also do not necessarily object to the Sages Guild being present when you share what you know with me as I am confident I can broker a deal with them to delay sharing what they know to the public until I have presented."
"It is important to me that I repay the whisper back for all it has done for me over the years and I would have a better chance of discovering some sort of knowledge that could restore the whisper to the Goddess she once was as a thought leader within the Star Mages guild."
She turns toward Sesha, "I know you are driven by a similar goal and I sympathize and am not personally against providing the aid you requested as part of our agreement."
She turns back to the group, "I sense we are very close to coming to some sort of arrangement that we can all live with, for this final negotiation would anyone object to a casting of Mage's private sanctum? I am not opposed to having one of you cast the spell but I would not want prying eyes or ears potentially hearing what I have to say next and Mage's Private Sanctum would ensure that this is the case. Alternatively I could cast it myself as I am not opposed to delving into my opposition schools as necessary and since the concern is my own my casting of the spell would not be charged to you. I simply ask your permission as this is your home as you pointed out and it would be rude to start casting spells without permission. As I said I am not necessarily opposed to the conditions you have all brought up and with the Mage's Private Sanctum in place we can all speak freely without having to worry about prying ears or eyes."

She isn't quite sure what Tink meant by, "holding her ground", and whether or not she was de-facto forbidding Sesha from working with the newly met witch or not. If so, there would be some words, later. Sesha was the most resistant about joining the Dragon Consortium, only because she didn't want to be on the string dancing for other people all the time. She valued her independence, and this was the first time that it seemed like her independence might have been restricted. Or she misinterpreted Tink, and her feathers were ruffling for no reason. Either way, when there was a good time, she would sort out where she and the halfling stood, and whether or not boundaries needed established.

This woman...she made some valid points. She did little to improve his opinion of Star Mages; the Iron Dragons did more for this city than the Star Mages did, and asked nothing. They bought this tower with their own coin. Sure it was cheap, but still...being totally unwilling to help for good's sake is no way to go through life.
...but Restlin was now curious, and a curious Restlin is hard to ignore. He says nothing as Tink lays into her. He almost feels bad for the woman, Star Mage or no. We're the good guys, right?

If you are an adventuring member, you may cast spells upon your followers and party associates, as it increases your chances of survival... if anything, this is the closest scenario. No spell is being cast, but telling us increases her chance of survival. And all this talk of self fulfilling prophesy makes me feel like this is a trap. If anything, the whisper is the one working against Gargul... we should not talk any further with this woman until after we've consulted with Gargul and the DC.

Bosk listens to the discussion and adds his two cents in over the ring. I say we hear her out. I do not necessarily trust her, but it sounds like she has more t tell us. We can always hold off on giving our answer until after we speak wit Gargul and the DC. However she might have some vital piece of information we need to relay to him. Also, since this research is based on our travels and information, I think we should be made honorary Star Mages for making and sharing the discovery with them, as well as receiving a royalty every time they profit off of the information. Possibly even veto power on any controversial research that might come out of it. I do not want anyone using what we learned to create a device to banish the gods from the Wold.

The Art of the Deal - [DM Hugh] Monday October 9th, 2017 10:29:13 PM Tink sends out over the link that there is something on Agatha's mind and they'd best play along. She then puts on a show of being combative.
Sesha can empathize with Agatha's predicament. She thinks back to how she was hesitant to join the Dragon Consortium in the first place because of how she valued her independence. She resolves to have a talk with Tink about boundaries later and was almost on the verge of inviting Agatha down to her quarters when Tink relents.
Restlin admits that Agatha made some valid points but that being unwilling to help for good's sake is no way to go about life. He also is now curious so he resolves to hear what she has to say before passing judgement.
Wyaar munches on some left over pretzel as he watches things play out.
Zane is somewhat lost in the talk of high magic but he is a member of the Dragons and understands an odd word here or there so he continues to listen.
Beri recites the ethos of the mage's guild over the link and points out he thinks she is using her magic to increase her chance of survival. He also points out that with the talk of self fulfilling prophesy this could be a trap and her whisper could be what is coming after Gargul. He recommends not talking with her further until after they've consulted the Dragon Consortium and Gargul.
Bosk points out over the link that they should hear her out. He says he doesn't necessarily trust Agatha. He also says that they could always wait until after they speak with Gargul and the DC to give her an answer. He raises the possibility of the group being made honorary Star Mages, royalties and veto power over potential future experiments.
Restlin suggests to Bosk they should give the Star Mages guild ample rope to hang themselves with so they can disband them in the long term.
(OOC: Other players might want to join the Star Mages at some point in time, is it really fair to them to try to dismantle this organization)
Agatha casts Mage's Private Sanctum and Tink drops her act and apologizes and the rest of the Dragons wait with open ears save for Garret who stumbles into the foggy area of the spell and asks if there is no breakfast.
Agatha is appreciative for Tink's ruse, "Thank you, Katinka if anyone was eavesdropping and they thought negotiations were breaking down when the spell ended their ability to listen in so much the better."
To the rest of the group she says, "Now as I was saying I am bound by the Ethos of the Star Mages Guild and another part of the ethos is to never share knowledge of any spell with anyone other than fellow Star Mages. For example, some might say that teaching Beriothian knowledge of a new form or summon creature would be sharing knowledge of a spell with someone who isn't a star mage but this is technically a grey area. It wouldn't be sharing knowledge of a spell because Beriothian already knows some summon spells and tranformational abilities so all I would be doing is suggesting a theoretical new use for them. Now if Beriothian didn't have any knowledge of a summon spell and I shared with him the spell in its entirety then I would be violating the ethos."
"When it comes to knowledge of how to bring back a fallen God, it would really depend on the form of that knowledge. If there is a spell or ritual that could help accomplish the task then Sesha you would have to be a member of the Sage's Guild. I would just say pay the 25 gold fee become a novice and worst caste scenario I refund it and you leave after the fact. The problem is you are already a member of the Woldian League of Adventurers so it is kind of hard to also be a member of the Star Mages Guild.
"My rank as a fifth tier Star Mage does empower me with the ability to act as a representative of Star Mages Guild but I've never pushed the boundaries of what I can do in this capacity. I could theoretically make you an honorary member and share spell knowledge with you in this way, but I don't have anything to share in this capacity at this time. There are those in the guild who probably wouldn't appreciate my little thought experiments and I suppose I could extend this honorary title to all of you and share my prophetic vision but again I need something from you or for anyone who dug into our dealings to at least think I did extract payment from you, a bit of subterfuge could be used to our advantage. The thing is I would need payment or the appearance of payment to maintain my good standing. As I said I have my detractors in the guild so having the Sanctum up keeps prying ears from learning of my thought experiements."
"These are troubling times indeed as you have some of the Eyes considering launching a crusade against those like Sesha and myself, assassination attempts in broad daylight against a Dragon group, a monstrologer with a deadly menagerie having something to do with the assassins and whatever the dead mass floating in Jericho space you encountered was."
Agatha takes a deep breathe and then says "While it would certainly be less impressive than the mystery of said dead mass, publications and lectures on the topic of Monstrology usually do well with an audience as Monstrologers are so rare; so how about this, I share with you my prophesy and if you find it compelling enough then you share what you can when you can of the dead mass in Jericho space and I will not object to your condition of having the Sage's guild representative present. If you don't find it compelling enough then you will at least give me the information you can on the Monstrologer you encountered and the creatures he or she created. In this way I will at least have something I can publish and present in either event. In addition I will share with Sesha anything I find relating to bringing back a fallen God, shy of knowledge of a spell. If in the course of my research should I stumble upon a spell that can help with our shared goal I will make Sesha an honorary Star Mage and then share the spell. As an added incentive I will throw in a bit of magic theory Beriothian could use with his wild shaping or ability to summon allies from nature but he only gets one new additional form or ally option. What say you? We all get something from this arrangement. You all get my prophesy, Sesha gets the help of a professional researcher in her quest, Beriothoran gets a new animal option to summon or change into and I get something I can publish and present that can help bolster my standing within the Star Mages Guild."
(OOC: that last part for Beri is subject to approval from Cayzle and Jerry; please allow me some time to craft a suitable Woldian animal and get them to sign off on it; alternatively it can be cosmetic but I get the feeling you want a new practical option and what I have in mind would be a unique new Woldian animal with a CR of 17 and a set of abilities not yet combined as an option for a wild shape / beast shape but if you want a summon option instead it will be a lower level CR appropriate to the level of summon ally spell you request with unique abilities on par with other summon options at that level)

He catches some of what she is saying, but partway through he realizes that he is hungry and the other dragons seem to have this issue well in hand. Before she finishes, he wanders back out of the room and towards the kitchen where he is sure he can find some food. As he leaves the magical space, he tries to call back over telepathic link, "Hey, does this link still work while I'm outside that foggy magic place?"
OOC: I would think it does, but Garret doesn't really know. Also, I hope no one is offended by Garret's actions, I'm just picturing him as a more typical halfing, more interested in food and wandering about than in the political machinations of a big city. So it's not that the player isn't interested here, just the character. He doesn't really have a strong opinion about Star Mages or research, so he's sort of wandering around, knowing that the other dragons who do have strong opinions will make the right choice here.

"Was there anyone in particular that you fear may have been trying to eavesdrop on us? Do you believe yourself to danger from them?" Her thoughts change from trying to secure a deal to genuine concern for Agatha's wellbeing
Tink's trade concerns looks to have been addressed. Information from Agatha is to be shared, and what knowledge the party have (and are able to) will be shared with her and the Sage's Guild.

Prophesy - [DM Hugh] Wednesday October 11th, 2017 3:18:53 AM Bosk is concerned with dead Gods coming back and shares his concerns over the link.
Wyaarr is incredulous at Agatha's concern with her standing in the Star Mage's Guild while there is a serious threat to the Wold. He counteroffers with his Queen's blessing in return for the prophesy if the other Dragons fail to come to an agreement with her.
Zane points out to Wyaar that Agatha's concerns are part and parcel in Dirt City politics.
Restlin checks out in the middle of Agatha's explanation, content to let the other Dragons deal with this mess.
Garret enters the foggy area in the midst of Agatha's long speech understanding some of what is being said but ultimately realizing he is hungry. He starts making breakfast also confident in the other dragons' ability to sort out this mess.
Tink finally has the full picture of Agatha's motive and behavior and she switches from trying to secure a deal to genuine concern for Agatha's well being asking if there is anyone particular Agatha is concerned about. She is in agreement with sharing information with Agatha and the Sages Guild and she tries to secure an autographed copy of Agatha's book.
Beri points out that Agatha is more cooperative with the spell up and they probably would have shared the information anyway with Gargul's blessing had she just asked. He asks for Garret to retrieve the coffee pot and then offers Agatha some refreshment.
Sesha nods still a tad aggravated, pointing out there has been enough posturing. She asks what has the whisper told her.
Agatha says to Beri's offer, "How about some more tea? Also do you have little cakes to go with the tea?"
Agatha says to Tink, "It isn't necessarily anyone in particular I'm concerned about as like I said I've ruffled feathers here or there. The only thing that is in danger from them is my reputation, they don't need to harm me physically when they can come at me using the mechanisms of the guild itself. Also I would be happy to give you an autograph copy of my book."
Agatha nods in satisfaction. "Your decision benefits both of us. As promised, I will give you my piece first. The vision came as a voice from the darkness while I slept after I casted a number of divinations the night before. It said,"
Long has the Sleeper laid dormant. Long has the seed awaited spring. The Sleeper will Awake with fire. The Sleeper will Awake with fear. The bones of the Wold will it break. The flesh of the Wold will it feast. 'Til all is made as the Sleeper. 'Til its children inherit all.

Prophesy - [DM Hugh] Thursday October 12th, 2017 1:05:18 AM Wyaar asks what is meant by a dragon made of swords.
Garret wanders back in with 2 plates of cakes and rolls and a coffee pot. He sets one down with the coffee and takes the other with him.
Zane theorizes that the prophecy is referring to what came before the God's they know now.
Bosk says prophecies are gibberish until everything is done.
Restlin says the only sleeper he knows of is Agatha's Goddess and asks if there is any reason she would be mad at creation.
Sesha says she can't recall any lore about any of the Serenbeth sisters having children. She asks if anyone's heard of a nature God that might fit the bill before thinking of the sentient volcano but then she questions why the volcano would want others to be dormant.
Beri says there are cakes to go with the tea and then points out how Garret found them. He also points out that the dragon made of swords was an Iron Dragon reference. He suggests making one for the courtyard as a mascot and then asks Sesha over the link for any info on the Serenbeth sisters.
Agatha thanks Garret and Beriothian for the cakes, she then says, "The dragon made of swords wasn't like a golem or a construct, it was like a sculpture. Have you ever seen a chair made of swords? It was kind of like that only it was a dragon instead of a chair."
She then says, "It wasn't Janiterri. This sleeper was different, it felt primal like I don't know how to describe it except maybe over grown?"

Wyaar asks about what the bones and flesh of the Wold are as he finishes off his pocket pretzel.
Restlin theorizes that the prophecy could be literal, the the flesh of the Wold could be the noble races and something is going to rise up from the ground and then start killing noble races. He then turns his thoughts to his expansive arcane and historical knowledge and draws a blank.
Garret asks if they were already eaten by the thing in Jericho space even if they went in the back entrance.
Zane reiterates that something must have come before them and reasons the worship of it could make that something a threat and that the prophesy probably refers to what they are going to do next. He then thanks Agatha for the prophesy.
Sesha shrugs and suggests relating the prophecy to Gargul and Gimp.
Beri is in agreement with Sesha about taking the prophecy to Gargul as he is the one who would know if something is dead or not. (OOC: Anyone ever ask Gargul about Schrodinger's cat?) Beri then asks Agatha if the fire was literal or a metaphor. Beri then tries to think about the reference to the bones and blood in the context of the wold and all he can think of is Wold's blood but he doesn't recall anything known as Wold's bone.
Bosk wishes he knew more but for know just agrees over the ring that they take the vision to Gargul.

Otherwise, they'd send us a messages to go on vacation and enjoy our last days. Prophesy - [DM Hugh] Sunday October 15th, 2017 10:45:18 PM Restlin states that he has nothing which is a rarety. He then asks Agatha if she wants to pick their brains now.
Garret asks Restlin if he wants a biscuit seeing as he has nothing. To which Restlin asks, "Has it been in your pocket?"
Sesha wonders as to the circumstances of Agatha being shown the prophecy and whether it was acccidental or done on purpose.
Tink didn't want to rule out the voice Agatha heard was the sleeper itself trying to manipulate the party and she is happy to let Restlin share knowledge of the Monstrologer.
Beri points out that if there is a prophecy something has to know that the Iron Dragons are the ones with a fighting chance to save the world otherwise it would have told them to go on vacation as he sips his coffee.
Bosk points out how vacation is a novel concept and then asks if they tried it would they get attacked by ferrets bent on Wold Domination. He then advocates for taking the evening to give a response.
Zane says even when he was on his absence trouble still found him and he gives an example as to how everything could shake out. He asks over the rings, "Off to see Gargul?"
Wyaar agrees with Zane over the ring about going to see Gargul.
Agatha says, "Well if you don't mind I wouldn't mind getting some information about the Monstrologer." as she pulls a journal, a pen and an inkwell from her robes.
It is a rapid fire series of questions with some of the high lights being:
What was the Monstrologer's name? What was his breed specialty? What magical tradition did he follow before becoming a monstrologer? Could you describe for me in detail or show me with an illusion spell some of his creations? Did he leave any notes regarding his research? Was he using any artifacts or special equipment as part of his experiements?
Agatha is very thorough and you spend the afternoon and into evening entertaining her as she takes her notes. She finally nods and says, "I think I have all that I need for now. Please do let me know if you can share anything regarding the mass of dead tissue after all. I wish you all the best in handling whatever the prophesy portends. Do reach out should you need anything further."
She pulls out a scrap of paper from the journal and hands it to you before she goes, "I wrote down the prophecy for your convenience."
It is now evening on your first full day in Hook City back from your travels. Do you want to do anything this evening or take advantage of some downtime at home while you can?

Restlin loves telling stories. This woman doesn't want stories, this woman wants unembellished information. That was considerably less fun.
Still, Restlin was a conjuror & had a strong desire to have the monstrolloger's tale, including his madness & likely abuse, told accurately. So, he puts his personal feelings about Star Mages aside and answers this woman's questions as accurately as possible.

Garret puts the biscuit back in his pocket and grabs a fresh one from the plate to hand to Restlin, saying, "This one hasn't." He smiles and sits back down as their guest starts asking questions. He looks at her as she asks them and thinks, "Why would we ask the monster guy his name? We asked him to stop killing us, he didn't, so we killed him. Sometimes life is pretty simple." Then he thinks of Gargul and realizes that sometimes it just isn't.
Partway through the discussions with the woman, Garret gets bored and wanders off. He heads back outside before dinner time and looks for some kids in the area where he can do some acrobatics and try to teach them how to do some flips and cartwheels. He attempts to enjoy the "down time" when his life isn't in direct danger and laughs with the children when they fall all over one another.

I looked through his impressive laboratory, there were lots of curious objects but big picture it all seemed pretty standard for a monstrologer. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary or valuable.
Guys, remind me to put the druid notes from the desk in our vault after she leaves. Nothing specific in there that I'm concerned about, but all this academic curiosity makes me think they need a little extra protection
This evening Beri will review the notes in more detail trying to find any additional clues about what they future may have in store for them, any additional connections to the events they saw after they initially read them, and any possible connection to the vague prophesy they received. Sesha heads back to her sanctuary and starts working on a potion of heal apologizing profusely to her coven about not coming down that morning.

The Horned Cleric hears the whump, like their enchanted mango tree that pelts intruders with its fruit, but many times louder. Restlin casts overland flight and takes the roof exit.
Sesha offers to recall the team to a sanctuary she set in Mudtown having been up for a while working with her coven on a ritual.
Garret claims he isn't the source of the Whumps and then joins the others outside asking if it is just a firework celebration.
Zane draws his bow and takes to the sky as well asking for Restlin to let him know when he sees something.
Beri turns into an air elemental and speeds with the others to investigate the sounds, asking the group if they should use starblazer and not getting much of a response.
Bosk asks if people returned to mudtown and realizes it may be impossible to keep people from returning. He determines the Whumps are coming from all over with the last one being significantly close so he quaffs some elixirs and reads a scroll.
You manage to quickly traverse to Mudtown through a combination of various magicks.
From the air you notice the streets of Mudtown are not quite as neat and tidy as the rest of the city. The broad avenues are not paved, and the hard-beaten earth under people's feet turns to mud every year during the rainy season. Hence the name. It is not difficult to find the commotion, all you have to do is move in the opposite direction people are fleeing to...and follow the screaming.
Beyond the corner of a shop you find the source of the noise. A pair of guardsmen are in the middle of the street. One is kneeling, consoling a keening woman and a dumb-stricken child.
NO! NOOOO! NO! George! George, no! What happened!? What happened!? GEORGE!!!”
The other guardsman is pacing back and forth in the street, looking for something. He is careful not to get too close. As you get closer you see a crater in the road two paces across and a pace deep. Blood, limbs, and viscera are spread on the ground in a fan-shape away from the crater. The investigating guardsman looks lost, as though he is trying to force his mind to understand what happened when he has no clues.
The consoling guardsman is trying his best to keep the woman from scrabbling toward… what you can only guess used to be George.
”Let me go! LET ME GO! I have to help him! I have to help him! George! GEORGE! What happened to you!?”
A small child, perhaps five or six years of age, sits nearby and stares dumbly at the scene.

Restlin lets Tink handle the child and Garret handle the guard while he flies straight up trying to figure out if there is anything there.
Zane tries to figure out which direction the attack came from based on the splatter and then moves in the opposite direction.
Sesha also takes to the sky on a magic broom taking offense to the location of the attack.
Beri looks around for what caused the crater but does not see anything that could have caused it so he does not summon his elemental swarm.

There is nothing Tink can do for the child right now. He looks physically unhurt. The guardsman nearby should be able to keep an eye on him until his parents arrive. ”You hang in there”
She looks to the crater. If this was magic she’s hoping there is still some sort of lingering aura. She suspects this to be some sort of evocation, but that’s more a gut feel.
If she’s able to get a read on the aura, she then takes to the air to head in the direction of the lastest whump. Tink keeps her eyes to the ground as she scans for any similar aura. These things could be scattered all through the city. There’s no telling how many there may be.
”We may need to think about some sort of alarm for the city. Something we can trigger to alert everyone to immediately seek refuge indoors. Something like that”

Bosk asks Restlin to make some sort of magic signal in the sky warning about picking up the trapped objects.
Garret is confused by what is happening he asks if there is nothing coming from the air are the coins just exploding.
Restlin writes a warning in big black letters in the sky using Silent Image warning not to pick up the trapped tempting items on the ground.
Wyaar activates his boots of flying and moves upward to try to get a peak at the source of the latest WHUMP.
Zane sends a message over the link hypothesizing that the WHUMP is the sound of teleportation.
(OOC: The kid is child of the splattered man and the hysteric woman) Tink realizes there is nothing to be done for the child right now and then turns her attention towards the crater hoping to catch some sort of lingering aura but alas there is nothing not even a dim aura. She sends over the link of creating some sort of alarm for the city.
Beri postulates they are not seeing something as he doesn't think teleportation would leave the fan shape splatter of carnage. He takes his gem of true seeing out on their way to the latest Whump.
The dragons make their way to the next site of carnage. This time there is another crater and to go with the humanoid turned splatter there is the back haunches of half a horse. The front half must have got caught in the blast with the humanoid. The back half has the remains of a pack saddle so the humanoid must have been leading the horse when it got caught in the blast.
Tink Highlight to display spoiler: {You catch a very brief dim aura of evocation near the remains of the horse and humanoid.}

None of the dragons spot any coins in their immediate vicinity. Nor does Restlin see a pattern in the destruction. The archons seem to be doing a good job of warning folks at least in the areas near you but you still hear a single WHUMP off in the distance. You move on to the next nearest site and there is the remains of priest in front of a shrine of Domi with various coins scattered everywhere but none of the scattered coins have any magical auras attached to them. They're also being put in places where people might find them, like this priest just being in the wrong place collecting from the poor box. I don't know about the rest of you, but I haven't noticed a common link between the victims. Maybe we don't have all the information yet, but it seems quite random."
"Where else might someone try and take advantedge or people? Where could one of these coins be placed for maximum damage?"

Assuming his spell is finished, Beri regroups with the others. Does it look like we are closing in on them at all, or does this feel like it was set up last night? I can't imagine the poor box gets cleared out multiple times each day, and the initial attack seemed to be pretty quick and occurred from many different locations. Also, this last one wasn't placed for maximum damage, this was an intentional target. Would the followers of Domi or Domi himself have any connections to the death dragon cult? Any reason they might be a target?
We should spread the word again that there are trapped coins, maybe offer a reward for someone that finds one so that the unfortunate souls hear will alert us instead of risking their lives over a coin.

I prepared explosive runes today - [DM Hugh] Tuesday October 24th, 2017 1:06:10 AM
(OOC: Sorry it's late; I fell asleep)
Tink states that they can't keep following the explosions and she assumes over the link that the coins aren't just being dropped and they are being placed where people might find them. She points out there does not seem to be a link between the victims and ask her friends where else might coins be placed.
Wyaar suggests one of the open air markets.
Zane asks if they are still charging to get into to the city.
Beri regroups with his friends and questions the setup of the attack and if Domi or his followers would have anything to do with the Death Dragon Cult. He also suggests potentially using some kind of reward to discourage other people from interacting with the coins and letting the Iron Dragons know about them.
Garret places the coins in a small stack on the temple steps.
Sesha suggests using a miracle to get the Iron Dragons back to before the explosions occurred so they could intercept and spread out pointing out the best way to deal with this might be to prevent it from happening.
Bosk asks Sesha if she really can do that and then postulates that the city might reimburse them.
This conversation happens while moving as there were a few other sites in the vicinity that were affected the first has the remains of three small distinct forms savaged by whatever magicks someone placed in the coins. Whether they were the children of the larger races or fully grown members of the smaller races is hard to determine based on the splatter but there is a toy ball on the ground near the remains.
Finally they come across someone who was just severely beaten up by the blast and not killed outright. Blood is streaming faintly from the man's ears and he has several other lacerations from the blast but he isn't just a smear like the others. The man is human with salt and pepper hair and a short beard to match. He says, "I got out of the adventuring life so I wouldn't have to deal with traps anymore and what happens? I bent down to pick up a silver piece and I nearly got blown up. Good thing I rolled away from the blast a little and I thought that arrow I took to the knee was bad, sheesh. A little help, Iron Dragons? Strangest thing was I thought I read in small lettering on the coin I prepared explosive runes today before it went off."

She does feel for the injured man. Her magic may be strong but she can't heal wounds of any kind. Tink instead looks to the others in the party to help him.
She can't question the man until he stops, you know, dying.

"Roger."
Miracles, and the prayers to cast them, took a surprisingly short amount of time. She makes sure everyone knows what they are doing.
"Everyone who can cast spells, you're on your own. Pick a spot where you can easily intercept the enemy. The church is simple enough, so is here, and the first victim, since we know the spot on the street. Garret will come with me, because I'm the least likely to hold my own in a fight and he has no magical talents. As soon as we go back, get your dispel magics or detect magics in order.
We are looking for someone dropping coins. We know they places they are dropped, so that's a bonus. We -don't- know if people are finding them in the order they are dropped or not. For example, the priest at the temple could have been the first, since we don't know when he checks the poor box."
She takes a look around.
"This means we need to spread out. I'm going to try and take us back to an hour before the first explosion, though we may not get that lucky. Garret and I will take this location. The most child victims were here. Broadcast everything through your rings, and repeat and confirm the plan once the miracle finishes. I don't know how time works really. We are either rewinding, going back and traveling parallel to, or outright changing what's happened."
With that, she starts her prayer for the miracle spell, right next to the bodies of the fallen children.
"Little Spirit! Serenbeth! Hear me please! Children are dying! Someone has started indiscriminately killing, claiming victims from the elderly, the innocent, right down to the young! I pray for your aid, here in the fallen ash and bone of three children whose dreams will never be realized."
Sesha sets several empty potion vials filled with diamond dust on the ground before her. She then sets out several more. She has the base 25,000 in diamond dust ready, as well an additional 25,000. Her entire supply is now on the line.
"The cost doesn't matter. As your friend, emissary, and partner, help me change this terrible turn of events. Send the Iron Dragons back, however possible, to an hour before the first explosion with memories intact, so we can get in front of the loathsome soul responsible!"

You can't always get what you want... - [DM Hugh] d100=90 ; Wednesday October 25th, 2017 12:00:16 AM Tink collects the toy ball and clutches it tightly before placing it in her haversack. She feels for the wounded adventurer but her magic can't help him.
Garret asks why anyone would cast explosive runes on coins and drop them in an area. He remarks how awful it is.
Wyaar channels energy and heals the wounded adventurer with it.
Restlin suggests that Sesha do the miracle thing.
Bosk suggests they not act to hasty and whoever is doing this may have their lackeys doing the work for them. He suggests that the coin droppers may not know what they had done and to keep violence to a minimum.
Beri raises the possibility the coins were meant to lure the Iron Dragons out of the tower and prepares to move out beside Bosk.
Sesha prepares to cast a miracle and puts her potion bottles full of diamond dust in front of her. She instructs her friends what to do and then starts casting the spell reaching out to Serenbeth. Sesha feels a response from Serenbeth, a regretful one for Sesha is asking something that is beyond Serenbeth's power to do. However there is something Serenbeth can do to help prevent future tragedies. Serenbeth provides Sesha with a Discern Location spell and The Iron Dragons are treated to a view of a warehouse near the docks. The spell has been modified by Serenbeth to allow you to see inside the warehouse. There are a number of footpads in this warehouse and it looks to be some sort of hangout for them. On one of the tables in the warehouse sits a bag overflowing with silver coins and there must be dozens of coins in the bag. The diamond dust starts to evaporate from one of the bottles and a small cauldron appears. Silver coins start flowing into the cauldron. It fills up with about 80 or so of them before a lid appears over the Cauldron. While Serenbeth couldn't facilitate time travel it would appear that she has moved all the undetonated coins scattered in the streets to the safety of the lidded cauldron where no one can read and revealed perhaps the source of the coins with the divination spell within the spell.
Although the spell didn't work as intended you at least manage to clear the streets of the remaining dropped coins and you even have a potential lead as to their source. What now?

"Thank you, little spirit."
Sesha touches the pot of coins, teleports back to the Tower using her ring and deposits it in her room, then teleports back to the others using her boots.
"That cauldron contained the remainder of the trapped coins. Serenbeth isn't a full goddess, she could only do so much, but given her limitations, I don't think I could have hoped for more. That vision was where the rogues were distributing the coins from. And we have the location. I didn't recognize any of the offenders, but we have every reason to go on the attack."
She adds.
"They have to have an idea we are coming. All their coins just vanished. Take a moment or two to cast your spells and prepare, then we go in hard with another teleport if Tink has one available? My boots can only carry myself and one other. If not, we will have to fly there."
She looks at Tink.
"They killed children Tink. I have no intention of giving them a chance to surrender. If a couple survive, that's their fortune."
Sesha herself takes 3 rounds, casting Barkskin, Shield of Faith, and Immortal Summons II.
While Sesha called for the ghostly sisters she had gotten to know so well, she is shocked to see something else entirely.
Bathed in sickly green flames, this insubstantial specter of a beautiful young woman floats just off the ground. Her face, constantly shifting, shows the drow features of all the girls she had summoned over the past years. She knew it had something to do with the changes to blood magic, but she wasn't quite prepared to see her little girls all grown up.
"Heya Matron! It's been awhile! Serenbeth granted us a new form, since the other wasn't working much. A lot of our cleric power has passed, but we have some new powers too."
With a snort, Sesha realizes that though the vessel has changed, the mind inside has not. While the others prepare, she gets a handle on her friends new powers. One of them in particular, catches her attention.
"Heads up. Anyone that the Witchflame attacks has a chance to light up in some green flames. They take super extra fire damage if that happens. We might want to make sure she's included in the hastes."

Tink stretches her neck in anticipation of a fight. She looks to Sesha "Don't worry. If Serenbeth's vision to us is correct - and I have no reason to doubt it - then these men have committed the most egregious of crimes. In any lawful land the penalty for these crimes is death. I have no issue seeing this justice delivered"
In Tink's mind, the difference between vengeance and justice can often be determined by the way it is delivered. To draw out the pain and suffering of these men, to see them choke on that ball, that would be vengeance. To deliver death swiftly and without emotion - that would be justice.
Justice is good and fair. Vengeance is not.
"Any chance we can see those coins returned to their owners? Someone throws the cauldron in the middle of them, spilling the lid and coins. We then try and set off a chain reaction. Perhaps a fireball into the coins? Or a Dispel magic that intentionally fails?" Tink has seen the damage 1 coin can do. The damage of 80 would be something to behold.
Sesha [AC 39 /16 To/38 Fl] | HP 178/178 | CMD 32] Wednesday October 25th, 2017 8:44:37 PM
Sesha shakes her head.
"I already took them back, sorry for not getting counsel, but I considered it briefly. Each dispel magic would affect one coin at a time, and damage doesn't trigger the effect. We could have maybe sent in an army of minions and instructed them to read the coins together, but it might be too late for that now considering I stashed the cauldron in my room."
She considers Tink again.
"Do you have a teleport spell that can get us all there?"

Beriothian briefly considers telling the guards what's going on and having them join in, but decides there is a 50/50 chance the guards will randomly hold them prisoner due to a misundersanding. How can people be this monstrous? Let's show them what happens when they mess with a dragon's home. A brief flash of a dragon made of swords crosses Beri's mind. Hmm, let's keep an eye out for anything relating to that prophesy while we're there, just in case.

Bosk joins the others, but holds off on caring any additional spells for the time being. To indiscriminately target townsfolk... Women and children... The Grim Avenger once again appears into the grey, that land between death and undeath searching for the souls of the departed. He can count on one hand the number of times he has declared an enemy the target of his sacred vergence, that soul rending revenge so terrible he invokes the help of Jancassis herself, but this is the first time he has sought out a spirit in hopes it will want his aid in obtaining it's revenge.
For a Minotaur "might make right" and you have a natural sorry to protect children and those smaller than yourself. To kill a child is the lowest if the low. He and his people would not think twice about swearing a blood oath against such a culprit.
However, as Paladin of the Dead he knows his motives should be to help those only he can aid... But it is nice when the to go hang in hand. Silently he pays he can spot one if the sorts of the recently decreased.
Lock and Load - [DM Hugh] Thursday October 26th, 2017 2:03:57 AM Garret waits around for something to happen. Finally the vision of the warehouse and the cauldron appears and he remarks he doesn't feel an hour younger.
Wyaar prepares to cast detect evil when he thinks that they are going to be sent back an hour but that never happens. He looks to Sesha for an explanation.
Restlin reacts to the vision hopeful that they know where the sons of biscuits are. He buffs a little and asks if they can kick in the door instead of sneaking around only to be detected. He also tells Garret to hop on as the halfling monk would be one of the first things he'd throw at them.
Sesha realizes that Serenbeth isn't strong enough to do what they asked but her Patron did the best She could given the circumstances. She puts her remaining potion bottle away then teleports back to her room to stash the coins for safe keeping. She suggests taking some time to buff then have Tink teleport them in. She also remarks that she has no intention of showing those at the destination any mercy as they slew children. Lastly she too buffs and then activates her immortal summon to bring forth her girls in their new form that of a Witchflame.
Zane says if they can teleport he'll haste before they do so otherwise if they are flying he'll do it before they drop in.
Tink says it would be justice to deliver the men death based on their crimes if what Serenbeth shown was true. She asks if there is anyway to return the coins back to their owners.
Sesha points out that she already stashed the coins and a single dispel magic wouldn't do the trick.
Tink says an area of effect Greater Dispel might of worked and it would be quick to fetch them but she does have a teleport ready.
Bosk joins the others and peers into the land of the dead looking for one of the souls of the recently departed to hopefully have its blessing in declaring targets of sacred vengeance. He spots the soul of the priest of Domi. The priest of Domi looks at the Horned Cleric and says, "Though we worship different Gods, I see you as a brother cleric have you come to see my spirit safely to the lands of rest?"
(OOC: I know you guys want to teleport and start cracking skulls but it seems we have 2 outstanding questions; What does Bosk say to the Priest's spirit and do you try to take the cauldron with you? Also you guys misunderstand, the coins on the street are in the cauldron, the coins in the bag never went in there so there are still coins at the warehouse and the thieves don't know anything is amiss; therefore if you teleported into the warehouse I rule you have surprise meaning you get a surprise round which is 1 standard or move action plus the actions you can take in the first round so if you figure out the 2 answers feel free to post both the surprise round move or standard action and a full round's worth of action in your next post )

She tries to recall how the coins were spread around. They could be trapped, or, they could be waiting to be trapped. She imagines that the trapped ones would have been placed in a pile separate from the non-trapped ones. These murderers likely don't want to confuse them. "Of course that's assuming they have half a brain"
"Ok... I'm ready to teleport us in. Before anyone splits from the group I'm going to look at the coins, and if I see any magical aura, I'm going to try and detonate them. After that, we need to see Pantheon's justice done"

Gimp The Imp will be the one to guide your soul to Gargul for judgement.
The cleric pauses a second before continuing. There has also been some...troubles...between local powers and the Gods. Although I do not expect any troubles with your crossing over from that stand point, Gargul has his Eyes on the situation.
That said, is there anything I might be able to do for you to help with your crossing over or any messages I can pass on to loved ones you left behind?

Tink thinks back to what she saw in the vision of the warehouse and she realizes that all the coins were in a single bag on a table.
Beri sees his air elementals show up at least the large and the huge ones but the greater elemental is still a little bit off. (OOC: 21 minutes)
Bosk greets his fellow cleric and explains some things to the soul of the departed cleric and asks if there is anything he can do or any message he could deliver.
The cleric tells Bosk that he would like Bosk to tell the other clerics at the shrine of Domi that his warhammer is to be delivered to his nephew.
Tink teleports the group to the warehouse. It is a 120 foot square building with a high ceiling and there looks to be at 28 humans in the 2 story warehouse. You teleport into the center of the warehouse. There are perhaps 10 of the footpads in the kitchen / dining area towards the rear of the warehouse, 3 spread out on the catwalk, 6 in an area that looks to be converted into a sleeping area on the left side of the warehouse, 4 spread out on the right side of the warehouse and 5 spread out toward the front. The coins sit alone in a bag on a table 15 feet from the sleeping area.
As soon as the group teleports in Sesha casts confusion on the group in the kitchen and the group in the sleeping area. All of the footpads Sesha targets are confused. Her witchfire shoots a bolt of green flame at one of the guys on the catwalk. He manages to not break out in green fire. The witchfire turns invisible.
(OOC: This is going to get awkward as Sesha is the only one who gave actions so everyone else still has actions left...Sesha can either post some sort of thinking post next round and everyone will be on same page or she can take an action and she'll go after the footpads, because I really want all the iron dragons to do something before the footpads do anything)

As the group prepares Tink to teleport everyone The Horned Cleric prepares for battle. Hs enormous hand hand grips his sword tightly as he prepares for it to taste blood once again. Suddenly he appears but the sight is not what he expects. Footpads? Over the ring Bosk speaks, Guys, this does not seem right. Either this is a setup, these guys are stronger than they look, or whoever is in charge is not in the room.
We are The Iron Adventurers, and you are all about to meet Gargul up close and personal if you do not speak FAST! Why did you put exploding coins throughout OUR CITY, and WHO put you up to it? Whoever speaks first lives. If no one speaks I will follow you into the Shadowlands and destroy your souls once we have killed you.
Bosk does not attack this round, giving them one chance to repent.
Restlin appears midair and sees that there are more entrances than 2 so he throws down black tentacles on the 4 jokers on the right however none of them are entangled by the tentacles.
Zane casts enlarge person on himself.
Tink uses reverse gravity since the coins are not close enough to effect any of the occupants of the warehouse. She then uses telekinesis to grapple one of the footpads to the right
Sesha gets the feeling that they are wasting a lot of fire power on small fry and advises holding off the big guns for now.
Beri Sends his elementals to the front to interdict some of the thieves and all 5 get sucked up in the whirl winds.
Wyaar uses his time to detect evil. The footpads in the kitchen don't radiate evil.
Bosk thinks that something is not right and then sends that out over the link before warning the thieves who they are and asking who put them up to the coin trick and why they did it.

The catwalk footpads all toss down their weapons in surrender as do the ones on the right and the left. It would appear that the mere mention of the Iron Dragons was enough to take the fight out of them. The confused footpads though could be a danger to themselves and others.
The funny thing is you seem to have this situation in hand but you hear Inspector's Auslander's amplified voice emanating from outside the warehouse, "This is the Hook City Constabulary! We have the place surrounded! Come out with your hands up!"
You have confused and surrendered footpads inside and the constabulary on the outside probably unaware of your presence while you seem to have the situation in hand the potential exists for misunderstandings to happen.

DM Post incoming...
It's the Fuzz - [DM Hugh] Monday October 30th, 2017 11:48:21 PM Zane volunteers to ask as a go-between with Inspector Auslander who isn't currently using his magic belt to appear female. Zane tells them not to shoot as he opens the door and explains the situation to Auslander and his men.
Garret pauses mid-strike when Auslander shows up and states that he isn't going to mess with him. He warily eyes the nearest footpads in case they make a move.
Tink asks Restlin if he has a silence spell handy in order to prevent any of the thieves from blowing up the evidence.
Bosk does as Tink asked and then calls out for the Inspector to not let his men read the coins as dispelling or erasing is needed to diffuse them.
Beri states that it doesn't bode well that they just beat the Inspector here and keeps his eyes peeled for a surprise attack.
Restlin says that Silence isn't his style and then shakes his head at the developing situation as he eyes the footpads.
Auslander ends up coming inside the warehouse at Zane's side. Beri never finds the other shoe he was expecting to drop, it likely does not exist. Restlin notices that the footpads are legitimately intimidated by the Iron Dragons' presence, it looks like the ne'er-do-wells did not expect for the Dragons to show up.
Between your spell power and summoned creatures the footpads are either effectively incapacitated or surrendered and the coins are rendered temporarily safe from being read through the use of a silence spell.
With the help of Auslander and his men you are able to effectively disarm all the footpads and see all 28 of them in irons. You have enough time to interview the footpads before they are rounded up in several paddy wagons and driven to gaol by the constabulary.
When everything is said and done you have another 200 explosive runed silver coins to add to the 80 in the lidded cauldron that Serebeth created for you.
Auslander waits behind while his men move the prisoners, it looks like he wants to talk with you. . "We didn't expect to run into you guys here, by the looks of things you very well could have saved the lives of my men. Thanks once again Iron Dragons."
(OOC: In the interest of moving things along feel free to post anything you have to say to the footpads and Auslander, we are sort of being forced to move forward after this so there won't be much time for followup questions I'm sorry to say)

Sesha isn't sure it's even worth asking the question, but in the end, she decides to throw the line out there. Spell energy crackling in one hand, she grabs one of the men by the chin with her other, and forces him to look at her.
"Why? Children died. Public servants died. So tell us your stupid, pointless reason. Politics? Religion? Money? I'm not even asking who enabled you, I don't care. Why did you, the man in front of me, do this? At least give an answer to that, so we can teach others the darker side of obsession and flawed reasoning."
She brings her other hand closer.
"Insanity awaits you if you I don't get an answer. An entire lifetime of slobbering, dull minded pointlessness, grasping at shadows and talking to air while your fears dance in the front of your mind. And if the good people of Hook City free you from my spell, I'll find you and cast it again."
She comes a little closer, and emphasizes each word to get her point across.
"As. Many. Times. As. It. Takes."
She releases the man, and plucks a stand of his hair.
"Until you die alone and afraid, in a dark hole somewhere, having wasted what's left of your natural life."

Beri transforms back into his human form. Constable, I'm impressed you found this place so fast. I'm afraid we don't have much idea regarding their motives, stopping them was our primary focus.
