Sable (Don) ( HP 20| AC: 15/17; Touch: 11; Flat: 13/15; CMD: 19) | Status: Upgraded  d20+6=18 ;
Thursday December 7th, 2017 3:10:33 AM

Sable really wishes he had a bow, but otherwise looks around to try and see if there is an easy way to get up onto the cliff and if that would be hard for the Floodslain. ”Finnian, do you want a boost up onto the cliff side so you can keep shooting while we are in melee? We can at least use the cliff side to keep down the numbers that can attack us.”

Sable also says, ”I don’t know if you guys can see this, but each group of five has a stronger flood-slain — in the second group’s case one with a ranged weapon. Maybe those are ‘leaders’ “

(perception vs spoiler = 23, climb = 21, perception for anchor spot for rope = 19)

Tsak decides to climb the cliff face to see if the floodslain will mill at the bottom or slowly climb, presenting themselves as easy targets. He shimmies up and looks for somewhere to anchor a rope to assist his companions. Finding an appropriate stump he ties it off and flings it back down for the other petals.

Finnian you'll be able to see much better from up here. Maybe you should aim for the 'leader' with the ranged weapon.

Elyas (Ben A.) (21/21 HP | AC: 13; Touch:13; Flat: 10; CMD:15) | Light Crossbow +4( 1D8, 19-20) | Status:N
Thursday December 7th, 2017 6:10:29 AM

Elyas will get behind the melee fighters and prepare his crossbow. He loads a bolt and casts magic weapon on his bow.

"Two groups, your right" He says taking a nother horrible shot. "okay im coming" Finnian uses the rope to quickly climb up the cliff.

(OOC ignore the d100 roll, it was part of my attempt to fix the page.)

Rolth lines up with the other melee characters, making sure to position so that the shooters can get clean shots once we are in melee. He'll make sure to leave a gap wide enough for the folks in the back to cast or shoot through, but not for a taur to slip through. He will take an AoO with his glaive if a closing floodslain provokes, with preference for the beefy warrior if he must choose. (AoO = 19 to hit, 14 hp of damage)

Kiwina (Steve M) (16/28 HP | AC:14; Touch:11; Flat:12; CMD:16) | Status: None  d20-1=3 ;
Thursday December 7th, 2017 11:01:21 PM

Although he might manage an attack from the cliff-top with his longspear, Kiwina prefers to stay on surer ground. He ineffectively rolls a boulder at the nearest group of floodslain as they climb to meet the Petals, when they are about 50' away (to hit = 3), then picks up his longspear to await their closer approach.

Sable offers help to Finnian to climb the face. He notices the stronger floodslain and points them out to everyone.

Tsak easily scales the wall, and finds a spot to anchor a rope to drop down to his teammates.

[b]Elyas
prepares his crossbow, he loads it and casts magic weapon on it.

Falco gets behind a bigger member, and casts mage armor on himself.

Finnian fires a horrible shot and then scales up the cliff face using the rope.

Rolth readies his glaive and positions himself so that the ranged combatants have a shot, as do the spell casters.

Kiwina rolls a boulder at the group of floodslain, and then picks up his long spear.

The left group meanders on the beach until the large liontaur gutterally yells something. the group turns on a dime and starts heading right to the party. About 25' feet away the liontaur yells again and all the floodslain stop. The noise stops the other group and they move closer, but stop 50' away.

He readies to take a swing on any floodslain that enter his reach, with a preference for a Lionataur Warrior.

Rolth requests Gothruk to move to 8K to shore up that flank, then, remembering the haunting eyes of the floodslain, quaffs some liquid courage (Lesser Anything Potion = Remove Fear). He will enter a rage if/when the floodslain begin to advance again.

He looks about for the leader of group two, who seems to have disappeared. (Perception = 17)

OOC: Do we have higher ground (+1 melee)? If so, might that also give us a circumstance bonus again their wave attack, which would lose energy moving uphill?

Staring at the no longer advancing undead Falco is less certain of his desire to be a hero. A sweat breaks out on his brow but he knows the others are preparing for battle.

A little panicked his finger tightens on the trigger of his crossbow as he looses an arrow that comes nowhere near the floodslain.

Sable readies his attack waiting on the taur undead to move.

Rolth downs a remove fear potion and looks for the leader of group 2. (Ooc: readded him. Also the ones on the cliff get the +1, no one on the beach does).

Falco gets nervous and lets loose with a bolt that embeds itself in the sand.

Finnian lets loose with a bolt that thunks into the undead liontaur. (Ooc: Dm apologizes. Missed the part in my codms post about the distance. )

Kiwina gets healed and readies an attack.

Tsak also readies his weapons.. preparing for a charge.

The liontaur with the crossbow lets loose with his bolt and thunks into Tsak for 3 dmg.

The other liontaur waves his hand at the group and beckons for them to come to the undead.

" Come" it whispers.. with a mouth that sounds like it was under water.

Finnian takes aim at the Liontaur with the crossbow and lets loose a shot but again his shot flies wide. "The next will be through your skull if you don't lay down your weapons," He calls out trying to play off his obvious ineptitude as an intentional warning shot. "I've really got to get my aim under control or I could be in big trouble" Finnian worries to himself as he pulls out another arrow.

(OOC:Bah... lost the whole post and have to rewrite it. )

Tsak is able to attack the undead beast, even with his lungs full of water. His limbs feel heavier, and his strength and quickness feel dulled. (Has Fatigued effect)

Falco Moves towards the cave mouth while reloading. He notices the second group moving closer to Sable at a methodical pace.

Finnian has his confidence come back, and proceeds to fire a bolt into the the undead crossbowmen.

Rolth drops his weapon and pulls out his morning star and begins to charge, (ooc: cannot pull a weapon and charge without having quick draw feet. Let me know if I missed it..)

Elyas lets another bolt off, and connect with the wounded undead.

Kiwina sees that other then the wounds Tsak just recieved, the isn't dearly wounded and just appears tired.

Gothruk helps his friend and dispatches the undead creature that wounded him.

-------------------------

The group moves up and is striking range of Sable. (He gets his aoo on the the first one.) All three miss. The other one moves towards Kiwina (giving an aoo) . The undead floodslain misses Kiwina. The crossbowmen fires again and a thunking shot embeds itself into Rolth. 9 dmg.

The undead to the side is still coughing and water continues to pour out of its throat. The odd thing is the water looks as if it is filling an invisible jar. The water level raises, even though there is nothing to secure it. The water contiues to grow and appears as if it is doubling in front of everyone. Finally huge watery arms come pouring from the water... and it grows to a height of 36 feet. A sound of waves crashing on the shore is heard as undead and living are both dragged into the giant water elemental. Upon closer look... the waters in the elemental appear black.. as if tainted.

OOC: Reposting the contents of my earlier email asking for rules clarification/retcon--Rules re drawing a weapon on a charge:

Movement During a Charge: You must move before your attack, not after. You must move at least 10 feet (2 squares) and may move up to double your speed directly toward the designated opponent. If you move a distance equal to your speed or less, you can also draw a weapon during a charge attack if your base attack bonus is at least +1.

Rolth has a +1 BAB, and so I think he can draw his morningstar during the charge, which was shorter than his move speed (but was the 10 feet required to charge.). Do you agree? If so, most if not all of his attacks would hit. If you disagree, then I’d like to retcon his drawing of the morningstar, and just use his natural attacks on a charge, because his priority was protecting Tsak.

His dark auburn hair falls just past his shoulders, and while a careful observer may notice a stray leaf or twig is often left in it the hair itself is surprisingly well kept. Beneath the green and brown of his vestments you make out an athletic build of one who spends many hours outdoors, and the bulk of his armor beneath. A wooden staff is in his hand, though it is almost unscratched from combat.

The second is Of average height with an athletic build, but not the most imposing of figures, but he moves with a simple fluid grace that speaks to an agility near the top of the human limit. Light brown hair is kept nearly cropped close to his head and his chin and cheeks are covered by a trimmed beard the same color, though sporting some blond highlights around the mouth. He has dark brown eyes and an easy smile that's almost always present. The man in the surcoat of Queen Maab regards the elemental for a moment and glances over towards his companion before turning his gaze over the rest of the beach. He holds a bow at his side and reflexively places an arrow to it as he surveys the scene and then nods towards the oncoming elemental. "At least I know what THAT is. Think you can talk to it, see what its so angry about?" he asks of his companion as how bow starts to glow with faint blue light.

A mysterious man in worn druid vestments and dark hair down past his shoulders looks around. His eyes are dark and bloodshot, as if he hasn't slept well in a night or two, and the scruff on his face confirms he's had a long day. Those that looks close also notice that on his finger he has a ring marking him as a member of the Dragon Consortium.

He turns to his companion.
I never took the time to learn the Aquan language. It's a tricky language, as more often than not the times you would use it you would also drown if you open your mouth.

The druid starts to channel one of his elemental swarm spells to call forth a storm giant to aid in their fight.

Tsak rolls Rolth over onto his side, and begins looking over his friend. The last thing Rolth will see, will not be this beach.
Sable also helps out with Rolth, even going into his bag and grabbing a potion and helping him drink it.
Gorthuk lets everyone else in on the two men up the beach. As for the elemental, Gorthuk feels they could outrun it. The elemental is coming in the general direction of the party. On the beach, he sees hundreds of flood slain... the mabelhornes are fighting them and holding their own.
Kiwina stands by with the group watching as the two men talk among themselves and point to the elemental.
Finnian shares how powerful druids could control elementals. He then brings Rolth back to the living by healing him.
Rolth wakes up and thanks his friends for helping him before gathering his gear and receiving his potion back from sable.
Elyas reloads his crossbow and warns everyone to be on their toes as the battle doesn't appear to have ended.
Falco asks if this elemental is similar to the one that propelled the ship, but this elemental is way to big.
------------------------------------------
Wyarr activates his divine bond on his bow and asks his friend if he can reach out and find out why this thing is upset.
Beriothian answers his friend before channeling one of his spells and summoning an ally in the form of a storm giant. The storm giant appears before the druid.
The elemental is 70 feet away from the duo and 125 feet from the party. The party is 145 feet from the duo. Picture it like a triangle

Rolth suggests that the rest of the party follow Kiwina in a looping run around the elemental. ”We need to draw it away from the cave mouth!”. He will offer to carry Falco, if he likes. To the two strangers, he will say, ”There are village folk hiding out in that cave over there where the treants used to worship. We need to keep this thing away from them. We, by the way, are the Eight Petaled Rose, champions of the recent Taurnament, but perhaps overmatched in this battle. We welcome the arrival of the Dragon Consortium and Fey Queen’s representative in these troubled times.”

Wyarr encourages the group to help the villagers before turning his attention to the water elemental. All his arrows strike true and the elemental looks odd with the arrows floating inside its body. It continues on heading directly for the duo.
Beriothian starts summoning a second storm giant as soon as the first appears. The first storm giant begins summoning of his own, this time a lightning storm.

Majority of the party head for the cave to make sure rhe villagers are okay. They are fine... just filled with amazement at the sight of two storm giants.

A few stay on the beach to watch the battle while Kiwina asks for his question to be answered correctly to which he is told its not just here, its all over the wold.

Wyarr unleashes another barrage of arrows, while Beriothian Drops a bolt ontop of the elemental. The two storm giants start slashing the creature too.. finally one connects a huge watery gash that splashes the duo of DRagons with the remains of the elemental. The creature turns to a crashing wave that soaks the beach and those in the area.

==========

Many of the living souls on the beach fall.. but all the floodslain are vanquished. The water elemntal is sent back to its plain... and finally the sun comes out. The tide brings in and out, hundreds of bodies. Some rhw floodslain.. some the defenders . The water has a red hue from all the blood.

Thanks to the Dragon Consortium PCs who showed up to save the day! It was pretty cool to see what characters at that level can do. And thanks to the Co-DMs for an excellent battle, and for the XP and loot tally. Can one of you clarify what is meant by 2500gp killed? I folks are willing, we can work out loot division via email and have that all divvied up by the time things restart. The party loot spreadsheet will help with that if someone wants to start filling that out.
