Barratore roars right along side of Broms's warrior yell. If Brom has taken out the salamander, Barratore steps forward a few feet and attacks the raging living fire in front of him.

Velarin the mage looks across the battlefield from his high perch. He can see a large, smoldering, smokey area where flames exist without fuel. By contrast, the nearby bakery and a residence provide fuel for an actual fire. He also sees where the fiery creatures pose the most threat to his friends and unleashes a Chain Lightning spell there. Electricity arcs from his outstretched finger to one creature, and instantly arcs to those nearby.

Lanliss sees the electrical arcs whizzing by him and maintains his defensive stance.

Emrys clarifies that the missing salamander Velarin asked about was sent to hell. Which, it turns out, is not so bad for a salamander. Emrys takes a step back from the huge elemental that whacked him and again channels eldritch energy, sending it away.

Brom shrugs off the heat and attacks the salamander in front of him, killing the creature.

Barratore steps forward with a roar and swings three times, connecting once.

Edson strikes out at the salamder in front of him, hitting twice.

Baslim draws on the power of his god and releases 21 points of healing energy to his allies nearby. Then Baslim is attacked (AC 12 without your armor?), and hit once for 10, and burnt for 3 more.

Edson is hit for 12 damage, and burnt for 3 more damage. Lanliss is hit once for 9 damage, and burnt for 6 more by a salamander. Another steps up to the Lanliss and attacks, missing three times. Then the elemental smacks him for 21 points of fire damage!

One salamander move to the flour mill, attempting to light it on fire. Alas, it is a stone building, and he only manages to burn the door. Then he directs one of the elementals to attack Emrys, and it does. It moves up 45’ and misses the Bloodwitch.

Finally, at the goading of three salamanders, the elemental moves forward to Barratore and strikes the minotaur for 22 and 27 points of damage.

Anyone within 50’ of the fire/smoke area takes 1 point of non-lethal damage per round from the heat.

The attacks of the elemental sting and cause his skin to redden and elicit a grunt with each one. Barratore brings his shield about and slashes right to left and back again. Then with a heroic cry, he drives his blade into the creature.

"Emrys! I'm running out of spells that aren't fire based! I'll work on the two between us, do you have something to help out Edson and Lanliss? They appear to be in a bit of a spot!"

V then flies 10' to V19, and looses an empowered lightning bolt through salamander 6 and elemental 2.(damage 57, 28 on a reflex save of 24)

"V! Get me over there." He shouts out hearing the conversation between the two. He also shouts out for the rogues to hear. "Lanliss, Edson draw them closer this way if ya can!"

Meanwhile, he steps into the space next to Barratore and unloads on the fire elemental.

Emrys gives Velarin a nod ... he too was very worried for his friends that are cornered by the large group of salamanders. However, he is currently being attacked by another fiery giant. Emrys looks for options, he's too far away for all of his crowd spells. Then an idea materializes and he winces at the possible implications. He begins to speak to himself, but he calls them out by name, "Alemi ... Gargul ... I know they're special to you ... you created them to help you in a time of great need. So don't take my next act as an insult ... more like I following by your example!"

IF Velarin kills Elemental 2 with his Lightning Bolt ...

Emrys begins to speak ancient draconic words of power. His body convulses as he begins to change form. His eyes become silvery ... claws appear where his hands and feet once were ... wings sprout from his back ... and suddenly Emrys becomes what appears to be a Silver Dragon! (scales and all)

He flaps his wings and takes to the air ... and he holds a position 60-ft above the ground (AB-3). He looks at the group of salamanders and then he sees Lanliss. "Lanliss ... I advise that you MOVE!!"

(Casting Greater Polymorph. Using Form of Dragon I option. Changing into Medium Silver Dragon.)

IF Velarin does NOT kill Elemental 2 with his Lightning Bolt ...

Emrys takes a 5-ft step, back and up the side of the roof, to T-8. He then casts the same spell and changes into a medium silver dragon. He starts to flap his wings as he prepares to take off.

Baslim runs up beind Edson, intones a quick prayer, and touches him on the shoulder to protect him from the elements.

Edson swings three times but only connects once. The sweat in his face makes him squint and miss.

Barratore strikes the Elemental before him, killing the creature in a single stroke and then moves up. Brom seizes the advantage and runs forward. He can see that the salamander in the fire is the most injured of the three. Brom don’t care about no fire, and so he hits the creature with a killing blow. He yells for Velarin to get him to the Lanliss and Edson, and then yells to the rogues to draw the creatures toward him.

Velarin moves a bit, and then unleashes a [b]Lightning Bolt[/i] on the elemental threatening Emrys. It saves, but is badly hurt. Emrys steps back and changes into the form of a Silver Dragon! (Velarin is on the roof, and the lightning bolt emanates from his finger, so he was unable to hit both the salamander and the elemental.)

Lanliss continues in his defensive stance.

Edson feels the heat so near this fire. He fights on against the salamander in front of him, striking for 10 damage.

Baslim can see Edson is in trouble and heedless of the salamander in front of him, he rushes up and casts Protection from Energy (Fire) on Edson. The salamander seizes the opportunity and strikes the brave Baslim for 12 damage.

The salamanders near Brom lash out, but more out of fear than malice. One hits for 12 damage. They glance at each other and run for the safety of the flames and smoke. (Both Brom and Barratore get attacks of opportunity on these two as they leave. Visibility in the smoke and flames is limited to 5’.)

The salamander nearest Velarin sees this third discharge of lightning and has had enough. He also retreats to the flames, but remains visible at the edge. The Elemental is not as smart, and moves to attack Velarin. In a low voice like the roar of a furnace it says in Ignan, Highlight to display spoiler: {”Die lightning man!”} It hits for 29 damage. (He must make a DC 20 reflex save or catch fire and take an additional 6 damage.)

Two salamander strike at Edson - both miss! He can see the fear in their fiery eyes as they retreat toward the flames (provoking attacks of opportunity.)

Likewise, two salamander strike at Lanliss, but one hits dropping the rogue unconscious. Then they also retreat toward the flames.

Anyone within 50’ of the fire/smoke area takes 1 point of non-lethal damage per round from the heat.

He rushes over to Lanliss and begins dragging him away from the heat.

Velarin reels in pain as the elemental reaches up and hits him while he is 30' in the air. V again feels agony as the blow also ignites his clothing, catching him on fire(reflex 18. stupid die roller).

"Sorry Brom, I'm a little busy at the moment trying not to get killed. It looks like they are pulling back into the flames. I'm gonna leave big ugly here for you and Barratore to finish off."

V then casts a Dim Door defensively(concentration check 40) and appears at AL2 next to Shepherd, where the wizard starts trying to put out the fire engulfing him.

Silvery Emrys takes to the air and flies over near his friends (AF-4, 20-ft above ground). He realizes he doesn't have the movement to position himself where he'd like ... but he can do something else until then.

"What's this gentlemen?," he says to their fiery visitors, "Where are you going? This PARTY is only getting STARTED!" He says with a slightly wicked chuckle. He then mutters a few words and a gestures with his clawed hand. Bramble erupts from ground in and around the group of salamanders and elemental. He knows the wall will begin to burn immediately, but it will take far too long before it burns away ... especially after what he has planned.

(Dragons and people in dragon form can cast spells with only Verbal and/or Somatic components ... i looked it up :)

(Casting Wall of Thorns in the area of the Salamanders and Elemental. Effect: Fourteen 10-ft Cubes. Normal fire does NOT harm the barrier ... only magical fire works, takes 10-minutes to burn away. Each salamander and elemental, takes 25 damage minus their AC (Dex bonus to AC doesn't count). Duration: 140 minutes.)

(While in Dragon form, Emrys has an AC 20 and 29/71 hitpoints.)

As the two salamanders retreat, Barratore's blade flashes out at them and catches them both in lightning succession

V is in good hands and even though Emrys is looking impressive, Barratore heads out that direction to get to Lanliss and Edson. He moves right past the Salamander in the flames and simply gives him a wink. "Don't go now where, Brom will be right with you"
Rounding the fire he spies 2 more salamanders, "Don't run off now like your pals! I ain't through with all of you yet!"

Baslim joins Edson, grabbing one of Lanliss' arms to help drag him away. "I have a word of recall spell prepared, just in case. I can teleport to the manor house if there is anything there that can help us." He looks at the raging conflagration and shakes his head. "There is little my spells can do against these creatures."

Edson lashes out at the salamander as it runs away, and then turns his attention to the fallen Lanliss. Lanliss is dying.

On fire, Velarin reels from the elemental’s attack and Dimension Doors over to Baslim. He takes 8 burning damage as he starts putting out the fire on his clothing. Baslim moves away from the burning Velarin to take an arm of the dying Lanliss as he laments that he has no spells that are effective in this situation.

Emrys moves and creates thorns within the fire. (In the future, kindly let me know where these are. Sorry about that 12 damage. It’s properly reassigned to Baslim. Also, I placed Emrys at 60’ from his former position.)

As the salamanders before Brom and Barratore move away, Brom hits one and Barratore hits both. One dies, and the other screams as it disappears into the flames. Then Brom moves and slams into the fire elemental, killing the great creature. The smouldering remains lay in a heap before him.

Barratore move toward his teammates, stopping to stand by a terrified salamander. A sad, terrified salamander trapped in brambles.

The salamanders are having a very bad day. And it was going so well. They attempt to move through the thorns and get torn up on the process.

"Sheperd! Lanliss needs some healing in a bad way"

If Sheperd tends to Lanliss' injuries, V will continue to put out the fires engulfing himself. If Sheperd doesn't, V will call forth a potion of cure moderate from his haversack and Move to Lanliss' side.

Lanliss collapses to the floor,
His skin smells a little bit funny, as if he was a chargrilled meat.
His vision is blurry and dark he hears voices.
He tries to stand up but alas his body won't budge.

Emrys lands at a more tactical position near the salamanders (AH-5). Frosty breath gently wafts from his toothy maw as he grins menacingly at the salamanders. He gives Barratore a wink. He then turns his attention to the burning residence from where he just came. He he twiddles the fingers of his claw in that direction ... and suddenly a great rush of water splashes down over the burning wall of the residence.

(Casting Create Water ... targeting the edge of the residence's burning roof and wall below. Range: 60-ft. Effect: 28 gallons of water.)

He then looks to poor Lanliss. Why hasn't Baslim healed him ... talking about taking him to the manor house? Baslim is a vastly superior healer when compared to himself ... he's a font of positive energy ... health and vitality streams from his every pore ... something must be wrong!

"Dear Baslim, do you need any assistance? I can stabilize poor Lanliss with a touch."

Barratore is all business as Emrys lands. "If you can help with the fires, I'll finish this off." He then yells past the creatures he is about to kill and further into the fire and Brambles where others have fled. There's no hiding! No Hope for you and no reprieve from my blade!"

Barratore cuts into the first one before him. PA Hit AC 39 Dmg 28

He then cuts down the other within his reach PA Hit AC 30 Dmg 28 (clicked too fast. 2nd swing at -5 thus the roll of 35 becomes AC 30)

He is not overly fond of going into the fire and Brambles, but it's not likely they will come to him. Barratore prepares himself for his payment of pain

Velarin shouts to Baslim to attend to the dying Lanliss, and then he finishes putting out his flaming clothing.

In his dragon from, Emrys calls forth water to dampen the fire nearby. He’s worried about Lanliss, and offers to heal him if Baslim cannot.

Barratore tells Emrys he can handle these creatures if Emrys can put out the fires. They he makes good on this, killing the salamander next to him and further wounding the next one.

Edson drags Lanliss away fromt the flames, frantic to save the rogue. (Emrys and Lanliss are actually a couple squares off the board, beyond the burn of the flames, but still within 30 feet of Baslim.)

Brom charges the nearest salamander and cleaves the thing in two!

Baslim draws in the power of his god, and releases it in a wave of healing energy healing Baslim, Velarin, Emrys, Edson, and Lanliss for 31 points (and removing all non-lethal damage.) He also heals salamanders S3, S4, and S5 for the same amount in the process. (Baslim can only exclude two opponents - S2 and E3.)

Lanliss wakes up.

The salamanders and the elemental remain, seemingly trapped. The thorns begin to burn, but verrrry slowly. The fire has diminished in the residence thanks to Emrys. The bakery is on fire, and the wooden floor inside the stone mill has also caught fire.

The salamanders utter some things in Ignan (I don’t think anyone here can speak Ignan.)

A couple guards peek around the corner and ask if it’s safe for the townsfolk to form a bucket brigade to put out the fire. Brother Daevon and Lord Hmitri have also arrived on scene.

Anyone within 50’ of the fire/smoke area takes 1 point of non-lethal damage per round from the heat.

Emrys considers his next action not that carefully ... he doesn't care what happens to these fiery fiends, if any of them were stupid enough to willfully attempt to resist Velarin's charity and remain in this realm, then they deserve what happens next.

The silver dragon moves close to the mound of bramble (AM-6), takes a deep breath and sends forth a frosty cone of cold into the heart of the great fire. If there are any salamanders still in the way ... so be it.

(Breath Weapon: 30-ft Cone of Cold. Shot directly south of square (AM-6). Damage: 24 Cold Damage. x2 against creatures with vulnerability to Cold. It's also an attempt to put out the fire. Two birds with one snowball.)

Barratore calls out that the flour mill and house are safe to form a bucket brigade at. He is unsure of bakery still. Quite a few of the fire creatures were hiding in there. Baked at the ready, he will wait to see what comes of V's spell and Emrys' breath weapon.
Mostly surrendered does not work for Barratore and of they came through a gate, shouldn't it still be there for them to go back through?

Velarin can hear the salamanders talking, which is mostly squabbling and blaming each other for a bad decision in coming here. He decides to Banish those he can, and two disappear (one saved).

Dragon Emrys moves and breathes frost into the flame, damaging the rest (not sure what the reflex save would be.) This also diminishes the flames somewhat.

Baslim moves up and heals those near him. Edson stays near his friend Lanliss to make sure he’s alright. Who says there no honor among thieves, er, I mean rogues?

Barratore tells the guards that it’s safe to form a bucket brigade. Brom tries to rally the effort.

With a dragon that can breathe frost, and fire creatures that are mostly immobilized by the thorns, you will dispatch the remaining fire creatures. This also continues to diminish the flames and heat.

There are still buildings burning. The bakery would be hard to save. The residence is burning, as is the flour mill. You will learn that the master of the residence was a man named Gurson Halinane. He is quite dead, killed by one of the salamanders.

Barratore quickly heads for the water and grabs a bucket. He then enlarges himself through the power of his clan torc. With a much larger bucket and able to stand in the river, the 18' tall minotaur dunks and heaves water across the roof and backside of the building. His goal is to not extinguish the fire, but to heavily soak the sections that are not on fire so as to make them less likely to catch.

With that being said, Dragon Emrys flaps his wings and takes to the air once again. He flies straight for the flour mill (AC-11). Once in range, he casts the same watery spell he had before. A swirling mass of water splashes on, over and around the burning doorway of the flour mill.

Assuming the door to the flour mill is near Brom, he will head into the building. Moving to the area on fire, Brom will begin moving whatever is not on fire away from the area. Calling for assistance from some of the townsfolk he will be handing whatever he carries to them at the door.

Velarin informs the others of the importance of the Flour Mill to the town. He flies around, telling the villagers to save the Flour Mill.

The dragon Emrys casts Create Water to help with the flames at the flour mill. Fortunately, only the floor of the Flour Mill was burning and his efforts help. He is aware that his frost breath would be very effective in extinguishing fire.

Barratore acts quickly, makes himself huge, and starts moving some serious water with that bucket he made big in the process.

Edson pitches in as well. Brom, heedless of the fire, charges into the flames and begins removing items from the Flour Mill.

Baslim suggests collapsing the building to put out the fire, and helps where he can can.

In the end, the party is able to successfully able to extinguish the fires. There is some repairable damage to the Flour Mill, and the residence is going to take some work. The damage to the bakery is pretty bad, but the ovens were made if stone and in spite of the damage to the bakery the ovens there are still pretty usable.

Lord Hmitri asks what happened. The only person that died was Gurson Halinane. Miraculously, there were no other casualties. Well, other than the salamanders of course.

As the excitement of the fires dies with the flames, the sense of doom and despair again returns to the town of Magpie Crossing. Everyone’s tired. It’s about 3 AM by the time you’re done.

"Keepers, I suggest we return to the manor to discuss what is happening. I think I may have some idea now. Lord Hmitri, would you like to accompany us for the briefing and discussion?"

If everyone returns to the manor, V waits until everyone gets a drink and some food, and then begins.

"What I believe is occurring here, is that gates are randomly, or intentionally being opened between different planes and ours. At the scene of the first incident with the fog, mushrooms were found growing. These were confirmed to be not of this plane, and to be of a fairy nature. Emrys and I then went to visit Witchspawn, a very confused satyr names Abraxus was found wandering the streets. He speaks sylvan and claims to be a servant of Maab and has never heard of Witchspawn or the Cinnamon Valley. After learning as much as possible, we believe he somehow unwittingly came here from a realm where a fairy queen named Maab rules."

"At this incident, I was able to understand some of what the Salamanders were saying, and they talked of stumbling across an open gate between their world, the elemental plane of fire, and our world. They decided it was a good time to wander in for a quick burnt snack of Woldian."

"In a reported incident elsewhere, Undead just appeared in Merrydale. The guards there put them down, but it was very disturbing."

V tries to delve into his memory and readings to try and remember if something like this has ever occurred before, or if there is a possible planar cause(know history 38, planes 40). If so he will share the information

Brom plans to stay and help. As long as he still has the magical fire protection on, he plans to make the best use of it. Besides, he wouldn't have much to contribute to the cerebral conversation that would take place when they returned. He brute strength would be better served cleaning up debris.

Brom also conscripts Barratore as well. His engineering knowledge would be invaluable as they removed parts of the burnt buildings. His focus is on the bakery at first. The ovens were large and very heavy. There could be considerable damage around them and Brom and Barratore's strength would be needed to reset the ovens.

Enlisting Barratore is generally an easy enough task and made all the more simple when it removes him from having a deep thinking conversation with folks vastly smarter than himself/

The spell that maintains his dragon form soon fades and Emrys finds himself back to normal, except with his house robes in tattered ruins. He is not happy, this was his favorite set. He returns to his room first and quickly cleans himself and changes into something more appropriate before rejoining the group downstairs. He doesn't keep them waiting long.

He listens to Velarin's discussion and possible theories. He offers his own (Knowledge [Planes]: 34). "The space between ... the stuff that keeps the various planes separated and in alignment has possibly been disturbed. Like the ripples on the water after a stone has been cast into it. These ripples are cascading around us ... the thin vale is being breached, creating a momentary union between the realms. The question is ... what is this stone and who cast it ... I fear it maybe be something of the gods or the powers that be."

Baslim rubs a chin in thought. "I would prefer to pursue a proactive approach. Waiting for a breach to another dimension will endanger the town. Perhaps something similar to a dimensional lock spell? It is a rather powerful spell, but if we could someone produce a similar effect -- one big enough to shelter the townsfolk -- they could be protected rather than trying to protect the entire town."

The fire out and the sullen population is at least safe, for now. A sense of doom and gloom hangs over the town and for once the presence of the Keepers does not buoy the spirits as it normally would. The smell, which somehow lends a gravity to the situation, will be with the town for a long time to come.

Velarin returns to the manor house as does Edson, Emrys, and Shepherd . Velarin discusses his theory about the portals which Emrys fears may be of the gods or the powers that be. Shepherd desires a more proactive approach. As they talk Velarian and Emrys rack their brains for instances from the past and their knowledge of the planes.

Since Brom has the Ring of Sustenance, which allows him to gain the benefits of eight hours of sleep in only two hours, he is tired from the fight but not tired from lack of sleep. So for now, Brom will push through until morning or until he can make sure that the fire is completely out and that the buildings are in no danger of collapse.

Brom wonders if the group shouldn't split up to make their presence available for the different areas of the valley until research indicates a clear path to put an end to what's been happening.

Going forward, Brom's SOP will be to sleep a few hours in the morning and take naps, as needed, so he can be rested for his night time patrols.

Barratore has already swapped his sleep schedule. He goes to bed around 5 and gets up around 1pm.

"Brom I agree being elsewhere across the valley would be a good thing, but i don't know of a good way to do it. Had we been generally spit up in pairs, I don't think any two of us save you and I would have fared well against this breech. And if we split up, you and I shouldn't be in the same group. The little ones would get slaughtered. Still, we should tell the others the idea. One of the magic boys might have a slick way to get that done."

Whatever is going on is big in scale and scope. I's not a bad guy, deity or otherwise causing it. Barratore is personally convinced that there is no magic and power that can do what they what they have seen and heard on such a scale and create such a foreboding feeling of dread everywhere. No one can say why or point to anything but a feeling. Perhaps the crazy man in the tinfoil hat is on to something. A rising darkness, akin to a great awakening of all things evil, or perhaps something so ancient as to have been shut out before the first age has found its way back.

Shepherd Baslim also has a ring of sustenance and has already slept enough (handy things, aren't they?). "Agreed, Friend Barratore. I will go and ask of Alemi. Perhaps in his wisdom he will share with us knowledge concerning these things."

Baslim retires to the temple of Alemi and spends the day in fasting and prayer. He has not prepared any divinatory spells, but will see if his deity will impart any knowledge through faith.

Brom and Shepherd [/b] do not need much sleep thanks to some nifty rings but Velarin and Barratore eventually sack out for the night. There is discussion about splitting up the group but no plan for that is made.

The mood in the town is subdued and pessimistic despite the bright day. The smell of the recent fires cannot be helping and it is likely people will not be sleeping well for some time.

Shepherd heeds Barratore’s recommendation and looks for guidance from Alemi. He does not feel the connection as strong as he is accustomed to. The connection is there but more distant feeling somehow.

As the Keepers get the late start to the day there is activity but not what would be expected. There are enough people about that when a noise that can only be described as a wet tearing shakes the ground they can see panic on peoples faces.

Over the area of the graveyard dark clouds have suddenly appeared creating an severely overcast area on an otherwise beautiful day. There is a moment of silence before shouting can be heard as people move away from the graveyard.

Shepherd your prayers are disrupted by a towns member barging in and saying that the dead are in the cemetery.

As the town reacts other large noises can be heard from the cemetery, a shriek of a non human nature, a groan and other sounds of things that go bump in the night.

Velarin moves about the manor the following day, racking his mind to come up with a solution to a problem that currently had no solution. He eagerly awaited Baslim's chat with Alemi, which would hopefully provide some direction. Until shaking, screaming, and terror once again ivited itself into their lives.

"Oh for the love of scrolls and staffs! what now."

He quickly grabs his gear and then word arrives that the dead have arisen in the cemetery. "Sounds like your speciality Shepherd. Looks like we got work to do boys. "

V calls forth his extend wand from his haversack and uses it to cast haste upon the Keepers and says "a few seconds behind you"

Velarian casts haste on the party allowing them to get to the source of the sounds much faster where they are confronted with an otherworldly sight. {ooc: 3 rounds of travel}

Arriving at the cemetery the area is unnaturally dark on this bright day, almost as though it is a reflection of dark from another place. A tattered shadowy film floats in the air thickening on the far side of the cemetery where two huge creatures tower over the area.

One is a night black giant with demonic features whose arms end in massive blades. The other is a massive skeleton with the bones and skulls of countless smaller creatures seeming to dribble form its joints and rib cage as it moves.

In front of these creatures are four man sized horrors dressed in tattered rags with long sharp teeth and pallid flesh stretched over starved frames. Floating behind them are three grinning spectors with mad eyes and blood-red hands that twitch and jerk like puppeteers.

Scattered you can see the bodies of several dead guards and villagers lie on the ground among the closer invaders. Behind them, before you can yell to stop, three brave guards race for the blade handed monster and are immediately slain with one massive swipe.

Well. this looks unpleasant. Allow me to attempt to clear part of the field Since you have already been hasted.

V casts an empowered fireball at G24, hopefully hitting three of the lesser undead. Damage 60, reflex save 24 for 30. PLAY AS YOU READ

The undead have registered your presence as you have seen them. Gastly moans, the clattering of bones and a bellow roar form the largest of the beasts assail your ears. The tattered fog shifts and swirls as the undead stir to face what they can only see as more victims.

Images flicker in the mist you you see flashes of hordes of skeletons that disappear as quick as they came. In the air there is a brief image of something bigger, something maddening, but it is gone as quick as it came. The mind reels but some part of you comprehends that the walls of reality are not so thin and these images are not threats, only shadows of another place - Koshe Marr!

The beast with the bladed arms raises his right blade and commands the others forward.

Shepherd take cover behind a tombstone and attempts to work out what these creatures are. {ooc: Labeled on page 2 of map for simplicity} The large skeleton flummoxes him but the others he can identify as 4 Gasts, 3 Dybbuk [b] and a [b] Nightwalker Nightshade . All are clearly undead.

The Gasts are not that powerful though they are resistant to channeled energies and can cause fever and paralysis. The Dybbuk are incoperal creatures but you know little else. The Nightwalker Nightshade is a creature of immense power that is hard to damage though vulnerable to Silver.

[v] Velarin [/b] summons forth two consecutive powerful ball of fire large enough to encompass three of the attacking creatures.

The leading two creatures, Gasts, take the full brunt of the damage and are slain by the second fireball. The Dybbuk manage to avoid the full force both times, probably because it was near the edge of the explosion.

Brom flexes his might and rushes into the graveyard hoping this is his battle of destiny.

Emrys grants Barratore’s weapon some extra sting.

Barratore weapon empowered rushes forward as well. Coming to Broms side.

Edson as soon as the ball of fire dissipates rushes forward as well. His arrows fly true striking the blade armed giant Nightwalker.

{ooc: Unsure what you were aiming at, having you hit the big guys because the closest thing is incorporeal and you did not know if it survived the fireball. Feel free to have me correct that}

The two remaining Gasts advance on what is now the back line of the party.

The Pink Dybbuk flys forward towards Brom and attempts to reach out and touch him. His touch connects and pain courses though Broms body. {19 Damage unless immune to pain}

The Red Dybbuk tries the same trick on Edson and also lands his touch for painful damage {26 Damage}

The Green Dybbuk tries the same trick on Barratore and also lands his touch for painful damage {25 Damage}

The skeletal monster lumbers forward looking towards the back lines.

The Nightwalker crushes tombstones as it bears down on Barratore swinging one of its might blades but the blade glances off of the armor.

On the far side of the cemetary the party also sees additional figures approaching. From the distance it is hard to tell but they are of normal size and appear fully living. Yes!!! You are now sure of this, two additional adventures have come to the towns aid.

A small figure appears on the far side. He yawns as he looks around, but then opens his eyes quickly and takes up a fighting stance. He says to the other halfling beside him, "Tink, should we go right and swarm that big guy, or let the others take care of him and head left? I'm thinking the way that guy is swinging his arms around that those attacking may not realize what they're getting into."

An average size halfling, Garret is noticed mostly by the fact he's unnoticeable. He does not stand out in appearance at all, and in a crowd disappears more than normal due to his small size. His voice is quiet, steady, and even. His black hair is nearly always up in a topknot, sticking up about 4 inches, with the sides of his head shaved. On the sides of his head, and leading across to his eyes, there are various dark but colorful tattoos. He travels light, so is seldom seen with much gear. He is usually seen with tan leather pants that end just above his ankles and no shirt, showing his furry body. Around his waist is a rope belt with a couple small pouches hanging off of them, one heavy with small rocks, another nearly always with some snacks. On his back is a small backpack, clearly far from full. He usually smells a bit...off.

Emrys begins to cast the same spell again, however he has the benefit of delivering his touch spells from a distance. His spectral hand speeds forward and touches Brom's sword.

(Casting Disrupting Weapon on BROM'S WEAPON. If weapon strikes undead 14HD or less, it must make Will Save DC 24 or be destroyed. Spell Resist does not work against it.)

He wishes he could cast the same spell on Edson's bow, but the Disrupting spell only works on melee weapons. By the look of the undead that attacked him (Knowledge [Religion]: 36 to identify traits of Dybbuk), he hopes this spell might help. With the use of his Rod of the Quickening he casts a very quick spell.

"Your call, Garret. Those people certainly look quite capable of defending themselves. Those are undead things though so we probably should do something. Bosk would have our heads if we did nothing"

The female halfling slowly surveys the area with eyes that glow a pale blue. She has long ebony hair tied back in a pony tail, and though unarmored she does wear a black leather outfit. If you were closer you'd notice by her right shoulder-blade she has a small tattoo of a set of scales (representing 'justice'), and a holy symbol of Pantheon hangs around her neck. On her right arm she wears a small mithral buckler. She currently hovers a foot off the ground (Overland Flight)

"WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?" she calls out to those people who apparently like to wander around graveyards.

She doesn't really await a response though. "You know, one of these days I'm going to get to cast that Reverse Gravity spell again" she quietly laments to Garret.

On the far side of the field two halflings have appeared, one male and one female. They discuss strategy as the as the female halflings begins to cast a spell as she askes how best she can help.

Brom, taking the from the Pink Dybbuk lashes out with his sword missing three times but finally connecting with a fourth swing thanks to being under haste.

Barratore’s sword flashes at the Green Dybbuk and he lands a solid hit as it moves in but it survives the strike. He swings twice more, connecting twice. While the magic on the blade is strong it is not so great that it can slay the creatures outright.

Leaving the relative safety of the tombstone Shepherd dashes to the south where he might be more useful.
Advancing further into the cemetery Emrys advances further into the cemetery while enhancing both Brom’s and Edson’s weapons.

After calling out a greeting to the new arrivals Velaring launches a bolt of lighting at the red Gast. The Gast pivots to avoid some of the damage but still starts to smoke form the damage it took.

Edson now with enchanted arros fires three more times at the giant monstrosity. All three of the arrows fail to connect.

The large skeleton continues its advance on its targets heading more south this time as it moves much faster than before. {doubel move}

The Blue Gast closes on Emrys and bites him with its rotted jaws. {Hit: 21 / Damage: 11 / DC15 Con save. Fail: 1d3 Con Damage + 1d3 Dex Damage}

Still facing Brom the Pink Dybbuk reaches out with its painful touch. {Hit: 36 vs Touch / 25 Damage}

The Green Dybbuk reaches out at Barratore again to cause intense pain. {Hit 40 vs Touch / 23 Damage}

Emrys becomes quite angered by the unholy ghast's bite ... Emrys begins a transformation. His limps, neck and hands become slightly elongated. His skin becomes rough and wooden ... fingers sharpen into curving thorns. A bramble of thorns form and wrap around his body giving him the presence of being deadly to the touch.

Barratore grunts and winces as pain wracks his body and he feels his muscles begin to seize. Where was Shepard or even Emrys at this point. Barraoter cvan't leave Brom to face them all and can't disengage anyway where they wouldn't simply pursue and so he will stay and fight and figure out how to get out alive later.

The halfling coming in out of nowhere is a welcome sight and Barratore instantly decides he needs to take out the ghost. Warrd has other ideas, worthless cowardly god

"That taur looks to be in trouble" Tink relays to Garret over the telepathic link.

Her summoning spell complete, Tink brings an Astral Diva into the fight. "Heal him" she orders it and points to Baratore. The winged angel swiftly moves towards the injured taur and gently touches his back.

Tink then tries to buy Barratore a little more time. She casts a Telekinesis spell and tries to grapple the Nightshade. She won't be able to hold it for long, but every second may count here. Tink uses her only Moment of Prescience spell to increase her chances.

PLAY AS YOU READ (new)

As combat continues the swirling tatters of mist continue to ebb and flow but seem to be thickening in the north western part of the cemetery. A new phenomenon starts to take place as well the gloom that has overtaken the cemetery seems to flash, not with light but with dark as though whatever is the opposite of lightning is taking place.

As the darkness flashes again there are more shapes, most of them dim. A shadow of hundreds of zombies at one point seem to surround and then vanish again, a meer flicker. Where the mist seems thickest, a flash with more definition… much more defined another of the Nightshades strobes in and out of existence.

Brom the rage fully upon him swings again, again, again and again at the Dybbuk. His blade misses as often as it hits the Pink Dybbuk! {Middle two attacks hit}

After being bit Emrys alters his body, taking on the visage of a wood and lashes out at the offending gesture. Hitting two out of three attacks damaging the undead opponent.

Velarian follows up Emrys attack

Edson curses his luck and fires two more arrows into the Dybbuk in front of him.

Shepherd moves behind the Edson healing him and causing further damage to the Dybbuk. {Will Save: 30}

Behind the Nightwalker the blur of a shirtless halfling with a tattooed face can be seen racing forward. At the last minute it leaps and strikes the creature so hard that it rocks forward on its feet! Barret Goodbarrel has clearly made an impression on the behemoth as somehow his blow cuts through the creatures defenses!

The other halfling, lets call her Tink, finishes her spell summonint and Astral Diva to heal Barratore healing him to full health and granting Brom and Barratore a aura making them more difficult to hit. {+4 to AC and Saves for Brom and Barratore} Further Tink mentally grapples the Nighshade that was attacking Barratore. {OOC: DANG!}
The Giant Skeletong justs it head forwards and unleashes a stream of tiny bones from tis body as a breath weapon. The bones pour forth battering and bufferetting Brom, Barratore and the Astral Diva ! {Damge: 45 / DC24 to half / GM roll: 1}

V watches the rolling interdimensional slideshow with both curiosity and apprehension. "This could end up being real bad." He thinks to himself. He quickly returns his attention to the matter at hand and finds himself annoyed by the bad guys resilience, V targets the bad guy at L22 and sends another lightning bolt in his direction. All Kos Marr breaks loose and Brom is assaulted from all direction. With his mind focused on his opponent, he fails to avoid the spray of bones (if the bones are physical damage does Brom's DR apply?) The undead creature he is engaging unleashes a mental assault, and the barbarian shrugs off the mental onslaught through sheer stubbornness.

He continues to sing his battle hymn (Perform DC 19) while engaging with the undead. Maybe his song or the presence of the angelic being, Brom's sword strikes true.

The power of healing flows into Barratore and a glint comes to his eye. Angelic assistance from parties unknown was a new one, but despite Warrd's best efforts and interest in him, Imod had seen him through, Whomever the halfling was who had engaged the NightWalker, Barratore come not help but be impressed. He was a blur with motion and struck with obvious power.

The area flickered and flashed, almost as if the other dark world was invading, or trying to. Barratore curses himself for his distracted nature as the shards of bone rip into his hide from behind him.

Still feeling the ghost thing to be the more immediate danger, Barratore continues his attack upon it

"You are completely mindless aren't you?"

He says this to the ghast but the statement could also apply to himself. He let his temper get the best of his better judgement. He could have ended this ghast with a single spell, but no he engages it in hand-to-hand combat instead.

He takes in the size and presence of the giant bone creature and suddenly loses all interest in the ghast ... who looks to be on it's last legs anyway.

Brom and Barratore look to be in good shape with the angel hovering over them ..."WHA?!" ... He gives the angel and quick double take ... "HUH!?" No, back to the huge skeletal giant!

Emrys takes a five-foot step away from the ghast (N-18), and quickly casts a quickened nature spell with his Rod of the Quickening. His skin takes on an even more hardened, wood-like appearance, as if he were carved out of hickory itself.

(Casting Barkskin on Emrys. +5 to natural armor. Duration: 140 minutes.)

He begins to chant holy words of healing. However, these divine energies that he invokes is being turned into a power weapon. This spell is usually delivered by touch, but these forces are being altered by witchcraft hackery ... because the spell is too powerful for his spectra hand to deliver.

(Casting Heal spell on the Skeletal Giant (treated as a Harm Spell against undead) ... Spell altered by the Reach Spell metamagic feat. Its Range changes from Touch to Close Range (25ft/+5ft per 2 caster levels), Range: 60-ft. Level Increase: +1. Will Save for half damage, DC: 26 for 140 points of damage. If Spell Resistance is required, Spell Penetration check: 26.)

Emrys keeps his Bramble Armor up ... that should allow the ghast to finish itself off.

Tishe’ hears sounds of screams, shrieks, and the unmistakable clang of metal and soft ‘whoosh!’ of fireballs detonating. The locals in this town seem to be in a panic, but the short woman can at least pick out the local heroes went to battle undead in the cemetery.

Casting a Fly spell on herself, it has taken a handful of breaths of concentrated flying to get there. The sight of two giant undead and a swarm of lesser ones makes her blink and pause. “And I thought it would be an waxed job of ghouls in the graveyard!”, she calls out to the embattled heroes so they wouldn’t mistake her for another opponent. “I’m here to help, Cinnamon Pack!”

"This has to be the busiest graveyard I've ever seen" Tink notes to Garret over the link.

The Astral Diva misses most of the blast of bones but seems angry to have been hurt at all. Raising it's warhammer in the air and calling on the power of the Gods it drives the head of it down onto the ground sending a shockwave out around her.

Tink is quite surprised that she is still holding onto the grapple. With no moment of prescience to draw on it will take sheer will power to maintain the grapple now.

For a moment the sky is calm then a virtual blackout for ¼ second in which only the summoned angel can be seen. The mist drifts but, for the moment at least, nothing else seems to be near breaking though.

Velarin again launches another massive bolt of lightning straight at the Red Dabbuk. The creature dodges some of the damage but still flickers and sparks as the bolt hits him.

Brom having been sprayed by bones and mentally assaulted redoubles his efforts and slays the Pink Dabbuk!

Garret, little more than a whirling dervish of hands and feet assaults the giant Nightstade. Five of his blows land and strike so hard they can be heard across the cemetery. {OOC: WOW} The creature is still up but there are cracks in its black armored body.

After being showered in bons Barratore continues his assult on the apparition in front of him. Connection with two of his swings the Green Dybbuk shrikes in pain.

Emrys clears his head and moves to the type of fighting his is more accustomed too. Summoing a massive amount of energy a bolt of pure holliness lashes into the giant skeleton. {Will: 34} The creatures mind is tough so the it is not quite as damaged as Emrys had hoped. {Emrys, thank you for the GM messages explaining, it helps a lot!}

Tink’s Astral Diva lashes out with a wave of holy power striking the Giant Skeleton {Will: 20} the Nightshade {Will: 27} and the Dybbuk {Will: 33} with a wave of power. She then redoubles her mental effort and keeps the Nightshade grappled.

Edson unleashes three more arrows, two of which fly true causing further damage.

Finally yet another combatant appears on the southern edge of the battlefield. Flying low Tishe’ a female Sorcerer surveys the battlefield.

The Blue Gast makes one last attempt to bite Emrys but kills itself in the process. {Dam: 10}

Having eaten a lightning bolt from the caster the Red Dybbuk moves and reaches out to Velarin’s mind attempting to prevent further spells from being flung.

Tishe’ sees that the Giant Bone-Dripping Skeloton has one of the local heroes in trouble: his life is more important than any other consideration. “Let’s see if I can weave a situation where his reeds aren’t cut”

Not knowing how dexterous or willful the Giant thing is, Tishe’ tries a little of both!

Hovering in the air, she weaves a Quickened Grease spell under the legs of the Skeleton Giant. She then casts another spell to attack its mind; Glitterdust!

Hopefully, that will give that elf a chance to withdraw...

Garret isn't quite sure why the monster isn't fighting back, but he's sure that it's not good for it to be here. He continues spinning and kicking, trying to completely destroy the unnatural monster.

The skeletal giant convulses from the sudden blast of positive energy; bones rain down like blood. It was very satisfying to watch until the bony giant recovers from the wound and answers with his own attack. Emrys does his best to roll with the punch, but it connected nonetheless. The blow nearly staggers him ... he knows he can't take another one of those. At least the mindless ghast killed itself on his bramble armor.

In the moment where he considers his next action, something happens he wasn't expecting. A swirl of glittery dust explodes around the skull of the skeletal behemoth. He thinks, 'I remember that spell!' Then a slickery mass of grease pools below it feet ... 'I know that spell too ... I can't cast them anymore ... but I knew them in another time and place!' Then he spots a figure in the sky ... a woman ... a sorceress! She is allow him to escape and stay in the battle ... he doesn't hesitate to take advantage.

Emrys gives the sorceress a smile and a nod and makes a tactical retreat. He backs away from the giant beast and then turns north and then west, keeping a distance outside the giant's reach. He makes it near the fountain at the cemetery's center (Z-14).

(Emrys performs a Withdraw Action: Full Round Action. With Haste active, Emrys' Movement is 60'. During a Withdraw, you can move twice your movement = 120'ft. That should be enough movement to make it to Z-14 and avoid the giant's reach.)

Tink is as surprised as anyone that the grapple has held this long. If Restlin were here he'd probably say Wardd had something to do with it. A Justicar makes her own luck however. She tries to keep the grapple going just a little longer.

The Diva holds its ground to continue providing its aura to Brom and Barratore, as it slams the warhammer to the ground once more.

"Stay together! Fight together! Don't let them pick you off one by one!" Tink calls out. Too many times has she seen someone (or something) venture away from a pack only to be easily picked off.

Emrys hopes the giant slips in the grease, but if that doest happen, he wants to pull the boneheaded idiot back toward the center of the cemetery and away from the other casters. Maybe when Barratore and Brom finish off their giant, they can easily transition to this one. Just a very foolhardy thought!

The mighty Brom satisfied with one kill attempts to add another advances on the large foe and mightly swings his might sword into the dirt, failing to connect.

The flying new arrival to the scene Tishe’ and attempts to bail out the battered Emrys the mind affecting glitter is shrugged off with a shake of the head. The same shake of the head proves unfortunate as the giant bone monster slips on a patch of grease and tumbles to the ground! {ooc: Nice entrance Tishe’}

Tink continues the grapple while the Diva maintains its assault on the Nightshade doing more damage.

The assault on the blade-handed Nightshade contines buy first Garret who lands several blows staggering the fiend towards Barratore who times one of his swings perfectly slicing deep. The creatures first falls to one knee and then pitches over onto its side at the feet of its vanquishers!

Seeing Emrys plight the good Shepherd steps up and channels the power of the divine into the attacking creatures. The creatures both seem to resist some of it but the Dybbuk was already on its last leg and fades out of existence.

As the Nightshade falls Edson pivots on the spot and launches his arrows at the skeleton as it begins to slip. One shaft strikes true but to oversize effect. The arrow strikes at the joins holding its massive head in place with a great enough impact that the head separated from the rest of the body as the creature hits the ground!

There is a moment of silence as the mist and fog quickly recedes and you are reminded that it is a bright and sunny day.

Tishe’ looks around, the lifted fog, the lack of moving undead, and the lowering of the battle stance of the others convinces her that the fight is over. She decides to glide over to where Velarin stands, assuming the others will gather there at the entrance as well.

She lands; A short, plain human woman in light airy clothing; all in sage and khaki. A closer look at her face doesn’t show anything special; mouse brown hair in a ponytail, brown eyes, and a tanned face. She carries a unremarkable quarterstaff and an air of distraction juxtaposed with an intense focus. “Many Shadows”, she says in formal greeting, “I am Tishe’ Weaver.”

Brom sees combat ends and again is a little disappointed. Yes, he was starting to have fun, but it always ends to soon. Seeing Garret grandstanding, Brom slings his sword and says "Thanks fer the help." before turning and heading back home. As he approaches the entrance he takes mental note that all survived and that none looks in any dire situation. Confirming that visually, he continues out. As he walks by Tishe on his way out of the cemetery, he says causally "Welcome ta end of days."

He pauses only briefly by the others to say. "Let's head back if it's all clear. It's time ta figure out how ta go on the attack. Maybe the newcomers have some missin' pieces. Anyway, here is not the place fer any of that." Also, looks back at Garret "Ya comin'?"

Leaving the cemetery, Brom looks about for signs of the mood of the town. Magpie Crossing was already freaked out enough as it was, but it only seems to be getting worse. No amount of ale and food was going to settle spirits after this.

Tink rolls her eyes at Garret's performance. He did love to enjoy the feeling of a fight. She patiently waits for the body to move under his weight. If not, she gives it a little nudge. Just enough to knock the king from his castle. Tink grins and gives a wink to Garret to show it is all in jest.

She flies on over to where the group are gathering "Katinka Hushfoot, Justicar of Pantheon, member of the Iron Dragons and Dragon Consortium. A pleasure" she gives a formal bow to the party before lightening the tone "But please, call me Tink. Only my father calls me Katinka these days"

"The gentleman standing on the head of that dead Nightshade is Garret" She gives a nod of her head towards him

"With you permission" she asks Shepherd indicating the angel. If agreed, Tink directs her angel to perform some healing. She wouldn't want to step on the toes of a cleric trying to perform his duties.

She has a number of questions but waits for the right opportunity.

Emrys is greatly relieved that the battle is over ... but he would have enjoyed one last strike on the giant undead beast that hit him. His elongated wooden hands retract to normal looking ones ... as to his bramble and bark armor. His skin now only has the slight appearance of a wood grain in the shadows, but now in the full light of day, he appears perfectly normal.

He approaches Tishe and gives her a short bow. "Dear madam, your reputation proceeds you. My name is Emrys Myrridanmyl. I must thank you for your intervention with that unholy giant. I fear it came close to adding my bones to its collection if you hadn't come along. I believe the Heal spell I cast upon him made him quite feisty. It is a privilege to finally meet you all. My father speaks highly of you all."

Barratore plants his blade into the Nightshade as the halfling assumes a pose on top of it. That caught him as familiar and Barratore pulls at a horn trying in vain to recall where. "Well timed assistance, thanks." Barratore yanks his blade free, wipes it off and sheathes it. The Angel heals a great deal of the wounds he received at the hands of the incorporeal thing-a-ma-whats-it and he is nodding with Brom. Here was not the best place to stand about and chat. "Let's get back to Magpie, a fire, some ale and talk then."

Barratore's eyes widen at Tink's introduction. That's where he'd seen him. Garret of the Iron Dragons. He had met him very briefly in the Giggling Ghost. Two of the Iron Dragons in the Vale did not give him the warm and fuzzies. Big things were indeed afoot at the Circle K. The minotaur gives a bow like nod, "An honor Garret. I am Barratore Steelwind of the Starlight clan. We are the Keepers of the Vale and you have arrived in some dark times. Please follow me to our quarters."

Barratore heads out with Brom to get to the Manor and be able to sit down and speak with the mighty Garret and the other Iron Dragon.

Tishe’ smiles with the replies of Brom, Edson, and Barratorre, and agrees with Velarin’s suggestion to retire to food and talk, for she is travel-stained from many days on the road. Her eyes widen as she recognizes the Iron Dragons. “Madame Katinka And Seuir Garrett, boom companions of Bosk and the rest of the Iron Dragons, I am honored!”

Emrys, however, gets her undivided if confused attention. And then understanding blooms like a Light spell. “Oh! You think that... I mean that we... that is that I’m with them?! A member of the Dragon Consortium?!” She laughs good-naturedly. “I’m just a traveler that happens to be in the right place at the right time, though in my experience that happens a lot in Cinnamon Valley...”

She shakes her head, putting a stray curl of brown hair behind one ear. “I’ll accept the invitation to dine and we can sort this all out.”

When Tink nudges the body, Garret tumbles down the side of the massive creature, laughing as he goes. He tries to lighten the mood when he reaches the ground and continues to tumble across the ground for a moment or two. When Barratore introduces himself, Garret runs over to give him a high five. "Good to meet you! Nice work with that sword there."

Now that the fight is over, Garret is much less serious and moves around, exploring and looking at things around the area like a kid. Those who get close to him realize that well, he smells like he's been in a battle. He waves when Tishe recognizes him and smiles at her.

As the blade handed beast falls Garret leaps onto the chest hand raised adding to Brom’s disappointment. Muttering a thanks and a “Welcome ta end of days.” he suggest the group head back and work out what is going on.

Shepherd lowers his hands blessing the light and asking if anyone needs healing as Tishe’ glides over to the casters and introduces himself. Tink offers healing as well clearly tryng to be a help in what is a trying time.

Overall there is a feeling of relief that that the battle is over. Invitations are made for the others to head back with them to regroup and discuss what is going on.

Iron Dragons...Brom doesn't know who or what they are (Knowledge DC4). In any event, Barratore and the others think their important, which works for him.

Back at the manor, Brom handles the first order of business, getting the cask of ale. He grabs a bunch of mugs and sets them down by the cask. Pouring himself a large frothy one, he sits in his chair.

"What's yer story?" He says getting right to the point.

"Yes, please introduce yourself... Tishe', was it?" You see a well-groomed man with short brown hair. He has a neatly trimmed mustache and beard, with light patches of gray. His eyes are a deep brown, with small flecks of silver near the iris. His skin is taut and weathered from long days of travel. He has small freckles on his nose, high cheek bones, and a strong jaw. His deep set eyes are framed by a heavy brow. He is dressed in a patched and travel-worn red tunic and pants, covered by a brown woolen cloak. He wears simple leather sandals on his feet. He carries only a shepherd's crook and bears no other weapons. He is tall, with a wiry frame and straight posture.

Baslim is happy to allow the angel to do some healing.

Velarin nods as their powerful new allies introduce themselves. "Your presence would be most welcome. We are not exactly sure what is going on, but believe that somehow, the planes themselves are conjoining in spots. Opening random gates between themselves, and allowing travel between them. We believe gates have opened between here and a fey world, ruled by Queen Maab. We also dealt with some salamanders and elementals that wandered in from the plane of fire, looking for a snack. These undead were just the latest. In my memory, things like this only happen in times of great change and upheaval."

Garret is more at ease as the group heads back to the manor. When Brom sets up the mugs, Garret jumps up on a stool and takes a seat. He looks around for a bowl of pretzels. When he doesn't see one, he leans over the counter to see if there might be one hidden under the counter.

He smiles and waves again when Tishe mentions Hook City. He lets Tink take over for more introductions because she does that a lot better than he does.

The battle over everyone heads back to the manor house where they find a waiting, nervous Lord Hmitri. When he sees everyone arrive, with newcomers none the less, he relaxes a little and give a greeting.

As Brom sets up some drinks and asks the first brusk question the halflings seem happy with the welcome. Garret finds a stool and looks around hopefully for pretzels or a snack of some sort.

Velarin gives a recap of some past events and talks of the potential of great upheaval. Shepherd aquises to the angel continuing the healing of the group and requests introductions. Edson questions the newcomers commenting that he thought the Dragon Consortium had forgotten about them. He ends asking if they liked what they saw of the Keepers in action.

Tink considers her words carefully as she responds to Edson "No matter the group or the fight there is always room for improvement"

She seems very interested in what Velarin has to say "Interesting. We have also seen examples of planes and realities coliding. We have seen two such instances in the past few days. One was where the Dragon Consortium and heroes of the Wold did not exist. An unusual but seemingly peaceful place. The other was darker. A reality where Marteus had conquered the Gods of the Wold" She pauses in considerations "How oddly familiar it was to the plane we all just saw"

Tink returns to Edson's question about the Dragon Consortium "It is a curious thing. The Consortium themselves requested that we visit certain locations in the Wold. Sesha, perhaps the wisest of us, suspects that we are being sent to check that prominent locations are being closely guarded

Whatever is happening is happening across the entire Wold. None of our contacts know what it is and that in itself is cause for concern"

Barratore fills his Tauric Mug, gifted to him last Yuletide season and plops down in his chair. He is a bit shagrinned that Garret wants pretzels as he knows there are non to be found in the house, nor does he know what a pretzel is. V speaks of boundaries and planes and Barratore tries to look like he knows what the man is talking about. Mostly Barratore takes small drinks and stares at Garret. The legend of the Iron Dragons. Right here in front of him. and he got to fight alongside of him.

Edson nods and listens to Tink before adding. " You're right. Always room for improvement. You guys work good together.. one thing we are good for is no one here orders us. We work to the best of our abilities and stick to what we know.. we just trust the others to be in the right spot and know what they are gonna do. We formed from two seperate groups.. but we gelled and seemily formed a cohesive death machine for our enemies be it dragon, not your kind, demon or worse. As I said.. the wold sets them up and we knock them down. One day.. a strike might land and end it for me... but till I see that day.. woe be to any that bring harm to my friends, cinnamon valley and the wold.

That being said... is there anywhere else we can be used? Is there any areas that haven't faired as well as us?"

Tink's words spark a memory within Brom, probably because he was fighting at the time. He says "Just before all this started, we fought some shadow lord guy and his minions. Before the throw down there was this guy.." Brom attempts to give him as close as description of the hideously scarred visage of a human man in his late middle years. The man's face and hands are marked from some affliction,and he is mostly bald with only strands of long gray hair scattered about his head.

"Don't know if that means anythin' ta you guys."

Garret notices Barratore watching him. When he cannot find the pretzels, he asks, "Heya? Do you guys have any snacks around here? If not, I've got some..." He reaches into his belt pouch and pulls out some jerky and squished bits of bread. He holds some out to Barratore.

She gives a sideways glance to Garret. It was always one of his favourite stories and had earned him a drink on more than one occasion.

Barratore snaps up, "Snacks we have. a lack of food is something Brom and I actively avoid." The minotaur heads into the pantry and emerges with a large platter a short time later. Cheeses, breads, and a variety of jerkied meats. While he was there, Barratore also grabbed another small cask of ale.

He sits back down and nods in agreement with Brom's description. "The man behind the curtain and we were wondering if he could be part of all of this about us." Barratore catches Tishe's reaction, "You know a being that matches that?"

When Tink suggests a lighter conversation and telling stories, Barratore snorts, far louder than what would be considered polite disagreement. "People are dying in the Vale and if V's right, we have rifts between planes filled with things that want to and can destroy most of the people in the entire valley. You have seen what happened and what was about to wander through here. And you want to talk about lighter things. Holding hands and singing by the fire needs to wait. We need answers and action."

"Anyone know who Taserface might be, or what these rifts are, or how to stop 'em? Or are we just sitting about and waiting to shake Gargul's hand?"

Garret's eyes get big when he sees the tray of snacks. He tries not to eat them all at once, but he does shove a handful in his face.

Tink mentions the halfling on a dragon and Barratore snorts. Garret nods at him and says, "yes, yes, that is all quite important...but can you picture me riding a dragon? Because I have you know. And I'm small enough that you might not be able to see me, but I conquered that dragon and rode it!"

Tink doesn't remove the grin from her face despite Barratore's action. The taur was no doubt as scared as everyone else was of what might be coming. How do you prepare for a fight when you don't know what you're fighting?

She turns the question back at him "What answers and action do you propose? The Gods of the Wold have already been petitioned however no answer was found. You nearly had a chance to ask Gargul himself in that last battle."

Tink reaches out for a snack - preferably one that Garret's fingers have not already touched.

"Answers will come and actions be taken. But what is it all for if we cannot take comfort in one another? If we cannot take a moment to enjoy life?"

"Impressive, ridin' a dragon." he says thinking if any of his own exploits are as impressive. "A dragon with a rocket on its back, or maybe a raccoon. That'd be a sight ta see, definitely. Almost as impressive as a halfling, fer sure."

Brom isn't fond of Tink's answer. "What's it for?" He says putting his mug of ale down. "It's for the people of this land. It's for the children to grow and have children in a land free of fear. It's for the baker and his family who will never bake another loaf of bread. It's easy to ride in ta town from somewhere else and say relax, enjoy life. You'll leave when yur done and never see these people again. I, we'll have ta see these people every day. Have to look inta the eyes of loss cause we couldn't save their loved ones. They look to us, when the Wold's going to Koshe Marr. Enjoy life when so much can be done? That's not why we took the oath or wear these badges." He says pointing to his WLA badge. "I was hoping you had some piece that would fit in our puzzle. You don't, an' I'm not thirsty anymore. I'm goin' fer a walk."

Brom grabs his sword and heads out.

Tishe’ watches, concerned, as the tapestry unfolds between Katinka and Brom. It had taken her a little while to recover, and by that time, they have both said their piece and Brom was walking out.

“I think I can weave a thread of the tapestry for you”, she says loud enough for Barratorre to hear before he is gone. “Seiur Brom described what looks to me as Skalipy, a white-faced beater of the Sunrise Song adventuring group when we were together near Witchspawn.”

Then she joins the conversation with the Dragon Consortium. “Madame Katinka, I have only recently Walked here, but I understand Barratorre’s sentiment. I adventure and put myself in danger so peace-loving people who are the night’s soil don’t face these nightmares. And from what I have seen and heard since this morning is that mission has failed. The citizens of Magpie Crossing are scared and some hurt and killed by these events. I think the pattern is clear for Barratorre, and he was hoping you were a thread that could make the pattern clear.”

She puzzles go a breath. “I don’t believe his unvoiced accusation that you and Seiur Garrett don’t care. You are Dragons and that concern is a part of your oaths.” Her voice changes as if she is thinking hard. “So why do you suggest relaxation? It could be you are waiting on information from another source? Or maybe this is a test to see what is in the hearts of the Keepers of the Vale?” It is obvious that Tishe’ doesn’t know, only brainstorming different possible answers.

Tink just shakes her head. Mintoaurs. So focused on their own little piece of the Wold they do not see the bigger picture.

Tink sighs. "Not everything is a test. But if it were, consider how a guest would feel with how they have been treated after simply asking if you wanted to hear some stories?"

She finishes her snack and stands "When you are ready Garret we shall leave"

Tishe’ looks at Katinka, but is not certain she’s hearing right. She holds her peace, allowing the Iron Dragons to leave if they wish. But she really doesn’t understand the rebuke. It feels like as if a town guard, having seen many robberies, stopped an attempted robbery, and just informed householders that there are robberies all over the place was disappointed that the householders were more worried about robberies than serving tea. She doesn’t see the pattern, but is certain time will bring more threads in focus.

Garret watches the big fellow go. He grabs another fistful of food and shoves it in his mouth as he ponders a moment. Before he has quite finished chewing, he starts speaking.

"I don't think anyone here is saying these things to be selfish. I think we are all hurt and confused. We all know something really, really big is happening in the Wold and despite all our power, we are completely powerless to stop whatever is happening. That's not like us. We dragons, you adventurers, we are used to being able to stand up and stop the bad things from hurting innocents. But this time, well, this time we can't. We don't know how just yet. And that's frustrating to everyone. We all want to take action to stop whatever is happening, but that's not just going to happen this time. We might just have to wait and react to whatever it is that happens next ... and none of us like to do that."

He pauses a moment in the silence, then continues, "So I feel I am a better halfling to have met your group and to have had the honor to fight beside you to at least put down one evil in this world. I hope that one day I shall have that honor again. But for now, I guess it is up to us to rejoin the other Iron Dragons to attempt to defend our portion of the Wold from whatever is coming, and I wish you the best of luck in fighting whatever may come your way as well. Should we be able, we will return to assist in any way possible."

Garrett’s words do a lot to soothe Tishe’s worry. That must be it; the need to DO and the helplessness of failing is making tempers short on all sides. As the Dragon Halflings get ready to leave, Tishe’ stands politely. “I’m a guest of this house as much as you, but please accept my thanks for the timely intervention with the nightmares of Koshe Marr. While things are bad here, it would have been much worse without you.”

Tishe' takes out of a pocket of her khaki pants a curious tool that looks like a rod of wood with a disc near one end, and a ball of raw wool. Deftly spinning the rod-tool with one hand, she pulls and twirls skeins of wool with the other and then lets the rod go. It continues to spin and is held up by the wool, but pulls downward while spinning. As Tishe' continues feeding precise amounts of wool to the descending tool, it stretches out a beautiful wool thread. When the rod-disc nears the ground, the sorceress grabs it up, winds the thread around the rod, and again sends it into a calculated spin and drop.

Without paying much attention to what her skilled hands are doing, soon Tishe' has a good skein of woolen thread where a puff-ball of wool used to be.

Barratore is always amazed at how many times he and Brom get confused for each other by others. Sure, Brom was quite big for a human, but really. Brom was out the door, the Iron Dragons were gone and there was no answers or real help for any direction. The gods had been petitioned and no answers were forthcoming. Brimstone and fire. That as precisely what he had been asking about the entire time. Halflings. They were so confusing to him. Sometimes he swears the bad guys could defeat them all with a shiny mirror and some string.

Barratore pours another nearly overfilling mug of ale for himself and grabs a second large piece of white cheese. "You spell casters should get some sleep. Remember we got an entire valley to be at all at once, so have some travelling magic at the ready"
