In the wake of all the animal activity suddenly things get eerily quiet, so quiet in fact that you could hear a pin drop if you were so inclined. It doesn’t last long. All of a sudden there comes a horrendous crash and things sound as if the Wold is tearing itself apart. The sound is so loud that you can’t quite pinpoint where it is coming from and if you were hard pressed to guess you would have to say everywhere but you aren’t quite sure how that is possible but suffice it to say it is that LOUD.
Eventually the racket subsides and you hope for a second that maybe whatever that was signified the end of all the troubles happening of late. If only things were so fortunate because not even a full moment after the thundering noise ceases does the ground start trembling again...could it be an earthquake?
This activity feels different as if it is in reaction to something major and not the main event itself. Is the Wold really being split apart? Have the Woldians done something to anger the Gods? Who knows?
The ground you are standing on rocks back and forth like a ship tossed about in a tempestuous sea. Bits of rock, dust and other debris start to fall from the nearby dunes and rock outcroppings and fissures open up in the ground along the paths and thoroughfares. An old, abandonned boat in your proximity tumbles down one of the chasms that have opened up and after a short amount of time you hear the impact of wood on rock and you think luckily there wasn’t a taur in it.
And then just as quickly as the concussive sound appeared and the tremors started, the Wold shaking terminates.

This is by far the loudest sound anyone has ever heard.
Then Meteors can be seen streaking across the sky, with brilliant sparkling colors trailed by fiery tails. Their trajectory puts them heading nearby. Priests, witches and those with any predictive abilities feel a sense of dread.
One of these meteors comes crashing somewhere less than a day’s walk from the party. Further up the beach around a bend in the coastline.
Villagers can be seen running from the town towards theparty.

(Fort Save = 7 FAIL) Tsak flounders, the shaking has stopped, but he's not sure about the noise. His whole head is ringing. He thinks he can't hear anything, but his ears hurt. Putting a hand up to check for blood, he's relieved to find none. His surroundings now seem surreal, without sound everything lacks context. The waves move, but there's no crash. There is movement everywhere but an eerie silence too. Then the meteors flash across the sky and appear to explode into the earth - no sound. Villagers are coming, but how will anyone communicate if none can hear?
It's all a bit much and the half-orc plonks down on the sand to take a minute to collect himself. Maybe this really is the end of the wold...

Gothruk, rolth, kiwina, Sable meanwhile are fine, their hearing staying intact.
While Rolth warns the villagers to stay back, Sable examines the others to see if the deafness is permanent. He doesn't seem to be able to tell.

The group calls out a marching order and plans to head to the area where the meteor landed. The group moves out and it takes thebetter part of the day to gead there.
The air is dusty, the sky hazy with the sun glowing behind. You can taste the dust in your mouth. Though it irritates your eyes, but you can still see fine.
You make out more meteors whistling across the sky and landing in not too distant locations. Each lands with a solid *whumpf*
The party arrives at an area where the beach and grassland meet. You can see a small amount of red grass surrounding the crater.
You also observe animals that seem to be in pain, twisting and writhing on the ground. As you watch you see the animals mutate before your very eyes. Hair/fur/feathers fall off, blood covering the animals skin, frothing at the mouth, unnatural/distorted sounds from them, etc. This happens very quickly.

The mutant crab is suddenly incensed by the presence of the Petals. The scent of the adventures sets off all sorts of unconscionable alarms. The crab moves ahead which frightens the swarm of crabs to your right. One hundred small crabs race ahead. (To avoid tripping and a distraction - (d20+Dex mod) beat a DC 14. A roll lower than 6 is prone and takes 1 dmg from the small crabs pinchers.) The mutant crab steps forward 20 feet toward Kiwina, leaving 10 feet in front. He ignores any pleas, the condition of the crab becomes clear as it gets closer. The pained creature is insane and sick. (d20+Int mod) vs DC: 3 Highlight to display spoiler: { The creature is stricken with Bloodgrass sickness. This unfortunately turns the poor creature into an Aberration + it’s hostile, making the Wild Empathy null } The smaller crabs swarm the larger crab causing it to become slightly distracted. It's all just a bit much for Rolth, who rolls his eyes around looking for something that makes sense...but nothing does, not with this aberrant thing looming. (INT check for spoiler = 5, success) He starts to get frustrated, and it's just like those old monks on Bridge Island said, "Crabs lead to itching and itching leads to frustration. Frustration leads to raaaaagggge!" Well maybe that's not exactly what they said, but close enough, maybe I should have listened to the senior monks more carefully. Rolth isn't quite up to a full, frothy rage, but he's working towards it while trying to move around to flank this beast. Distracted by his anger, he slips on some seaweed and falls prone right into a patch of smaller crabs, who nibble him quite annoyingly...man is he going to be mad next round! (DEX check = 3, fail)
