The Wold Shakes

Brave new Wold
Tuesday January 2nd, 2018 9:48:14 PM

The party looks on as the rats swim into the distance. People start emerging and a few clerics come rushing onto the scene, drawn on by the town guard. What hurts there are, are quickly treated. The party mills about trying to lend aid, but soon find themselves drawn into the middle of things.

Happy, from the Giggling Ghost comes over. "Ah Silver Shields in the thick of things." He smiles at them and then leans in. "Say do you know what's going on? What's up with humming?"

Sergeant Lestrade sidles up. "Hello Shields. I hear there was some sort of rat commotion here-abouts. Guess we can chalk this up to the Trash level causing disturbances again."

Otto Mann the furniture dealer wanders over. "I think the Float's in trouble, do you think the humming is being caused by the great pumps on the Trash level? But I thought they only had to work once a year, when we clean the Trash out."

Grokk Greatbelly forces his way into the assembly (which for a Minotaur trying to be gentle with his neighbors is something of a feat) "Say I hear the gates are all humming and vibrating and causing problems. Maybe they are trying to gate something big in?"

They all turn to you and almost in unison say, "What are you going to do about it?"

Suddenly there is a loud crackling of energy from far to the Northwest. There is a rush from the docks (which as a reminder on in the southern part of the city) to find access along the waterfronts of that area. The party finds itself together a bit off Rogues Alley. Rodrigo is by the fence holding a spy glass to his eye. He hands it to whomever of the Shields get to him first. Off in the distance, along the shore line, there is a crackling of lighting above the Crying Woods.

"This, this I think is not good." Rodrigo says

Bartomus took the spy glass from Rodrigo and focused it on the Crying Woods.

He saw the flash in the glass, but couldn't make out anything else. He handed it off to the next Shield with a sigh. "I don't understand what is going on here, but I agree none of this feels right."

Stohp is all ready to correct the businessmen's assumptions but the sudden crackling prevents any conversation. After Bart gets a good look she takes the next turn with the spyglass (Perception 31).

"Whatever's going on you can bet that's related to it. Either the cause is out there or it's just another side effect. I get the feeling that we're building up to something big and the noise and the rat swarm are just incidental to the real 'the end is nigh' problem."

She passes the spyglass on to the next person.

"You guys ever get the feeling that maybe living on a gigantic, tiered floating city that nobody really understands is a bad idea?"

He walks over to Grokk and introduces himself. "Don't think we've met...Stock's my name."

Watching the lightning, Stock walks over to Rodrigo.

"What do you know, Rod? Why does that bother you so much?"

OOC: (I'm going to make an assumption that the vibrations of the Float are not anything like the normal vibrations most of us have routinely felt growing up on the Float?)

Letting others take care of trying to identify the problem, Zander turns to address the concerned people coming to them for answers. "Noble Peoples of the Fence. I don't have the answers to what is going on right now. But I can promise you we will be investigating fully to figure it out and help keep everyone safe. However we need your help. We need you to go back to your homes and businesses and try to keep the streets clear. We and the guards needs space to do our jobs, we will post updates around the city if we find anything relevant. Everyone stay calm and thank you for your cooperation." Hoping his own fears don't stand out in his voice Zander hopes his words help stop any panic.

DM Robert - Rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby
Wednesday January 3rd, 2018 9:03:06 PM

(OOC please note, you are still several miles from the northwest shore, I think the scale of the map is to have made the lake rather like Lake Superior)
map 1

Bartomous gazes through the spy glass and see's the pretty lighting show somewhat closer. Upon consideration though he deems it not pretty, maybe a little ominous being as how it is taking place over the Crying Woods, dancing along tree tops and arcing into the air...but there are no storm clouds.

Dorbin looks through the spy glass and see's pretty much what Bartomous sees, but much clearer, is that lighting different colored? Can There be green and blue in the lighting?

Micah questions Grokk. "Well I'm not sure exactly. I only assume it's the gates, I mean what could be causing the humming and increased vibrations...surely not the magical mechanisms that keep The Float, well floating right? Even as he speaks you can see his eyes widen, as if the possibility that what he has said may be true. (Sense Motive 10) Highlight to display spoiler: {He is suddenly deeply scared.}

Stohp...continues to look shore-ward...and fortuitously no one after here takes the spy glass...wait for it.

Stock introduces himself to Grokk. Grokk nods to Stock, but he seems distracted and really doesn't say anything in reply.

Stock then questions Rodrigo. Rodrigo shrugs. "Just a feeling I get, like the end is near, everything is going to change. I don't like change. It's like when you're a rat. You know they train rats with cheese, make them run mazes and stuff. And well when the cheese is moved the rat has to make adjustments. I don't like when people, gods, or whatever, move my cheese.

Zanderallen addresses the people. Many nod and head off to their homes. You hear comments of "Them shields will find out what's up, and fix it." "Yeah, they're great." "Daddy I want to be a Silver Shield when I grow up."
Never-the-less about 1/2 of the people remain near the balcony/fence overlooking the water lapping at the edge of the street.

Stohp continues her mission of looking to the northwest she see's suddenly miles of shore line rip itself upward (because light travels faster than sound). A huge section of land rips itself free and juts upward (not that you can tell from here buuuttt 50-100 feet you're not sure). There is now a large escarpment to the northwest. Then she see's a wave build as tons and tons of water are displaced by the brutal act of geology. Oh and the lighting stops. map 2

There is a sudden loud noise as if an avalanche of rocks were cascading down a mountainside (because sound travels slower than light...but faster than what's coming) the noise is deafening...even at this distance, but quickly over.

DM prerogative, I'm putting words in Stohp's mouth, she is rewarded for having the highest perception by becoming the temporary harbinger of DOOM Stohp shouts, "GUYS THERE'S A TIDAL WAVE COMING, BRACE FOR IMPACT"

You have 1 round to act.

"GET AWAY FROM THE WATER!!", Stock bellows and looks left and right for anybody who might need help bracing for the impending water.

If he sees somebody that will need help

Stock runs for the person, grabs them, and does his best to anchor both of them in place with whatever he has nearby to hang on to.

If he does not see anybody

Stock turns directly away from the water and runs at top speed for something....anything...that looks stable that he can hold on to.

Again...I would have taken off my armor if I knew I was in for a swim.

Dorbin's mouth opens and closes like a fish at the news from Stohp. He freezes until he hears Stock yelling to brace for impact. He looks around and quickly decides that there might be a way to help others. He faces away from the oncoming wave and looks for an area to place an anchor. The casts web across an area that looks like it might catch people who are caught up in waves that crash over the docks, hoping that it can help save at least one who might not be prepared for the waves.

He gets ready to cast enlarge person on any Silver Shield who might avoid being washed away by being larger.

Time seeming to slow as his mind wraps around what is happening, Zander jumps into action as the adrenaline surges through him. Working on instinct he looks around for anyone in danger and his eyes immediately snap to Dorbin, nonchalantly standing in the middle of the street casting a spell. Moving towards the young wizard his warning turns into a gasp of amazement as the safety net webbing is formed. Colliding with Dorbin as he finishes his spell, Zander carries Dorbin to the edge of the street bracing both of them into the nearest doorway.

Stohp doesn't waste time trying to find something to brace herself against; anything on the docks will get swept away. Instead she runs as fast as she can back towards the buildings, hoping to duck into an ally behind a building so that the water will break on and around the building and, hopefully, not even touch her.

The only problem is that she was right on the edge of the water. Can she cover enough distance? Hard to say.

DM Robert - Rock the boat, don't tip the boat over
Thursday January 4th, 2018 9:02:50 PM

The crowd panics. Shouts of "We're gonna die!" "I can't swim" "Run!" "Out of my way!" and other more colorful quips ring out.

Grokk, knowing that a Minotaur can't move fast, grabs hold of the railing.

Rodrigo scoops up a crying child and kicks in the nearest doorway.

Bartomous looks around, but there are no handy fire escapes. He shouts at the people to run and tries to shoo them in front of him.

The humming of The Float increases and seems to jump an octave.

Stock shouts and sees a woman crying about her missing baby. He grabs her and wraps one arm around the railing, bracing his legs to withstand the oncoming deluge.

Now everyone can see the wave as it undulates toward The Float.

Dorbin stands frozen but quickly decides to try to cast a web spell to protect the innocent, and maybe a few Silver Shields.

Micah calls for rope and Sid drops him a line. Seconds seem to stretch, Micah decides to tie the end of the rope to the fence railing. People start to grab it.

The wave comes closer it must be traveling at an incredible speed to have covered the distance so quickly. But how high is it?

Sid runs for all he's worth, and begins to scale a building but does not get very far. (page 90+91, climb speed is 1/4 I'm saying the wooden buildings are going to be similar to a brick building which puts you at a target 25, you're trying to hang onto one of the rope which is going to probably add 5 but I'll say you put it between your teeth, you can't make the rushing option because that would make the target 30).

The humming increases and now there are vibrations. You feel them in the soles of your feet, anything you grip that is connected to the float enables you to feel the vibrations in your hands and up your arms (like the railing, a building, etc.)

Zanderallen grabs Dorbin and pushes him in front of him and then tries to brace his arms and legs into the doorway, shielding Dorbin.

Stoph runs.

The humming of the Float hits another octave, dogs begin to howl. Being near The Howling Wold Reservation (68) fence level map you also hear the racket of various wild animals in the zoo. The vibrations increase and your can now feel them all the way to your teeth!

The wave is almost upon you.

And The Float raises itself from the water! IT goes up, and up!

The wave passes harmlessly under The Float, and continues onward, toward the south-southeast. As the water settles, The Float gently lowers itself back into the water. The vibrations die to nothing, there is an eerie silence, and you realize the humming that had been so persistent for the last few days has stopped.

Collective sighs of relief can be heard everywhere.

You will have 2 days of down time (game time not real life time). I suggest some healing and recuperation as it appears some of you may still have an injury or be sickened. The Float is safe, it seems the ancient magic that keeps the place going can also keep is safe from a tidal wave.

DID YOU SEE THAT?" Bartomus' voice was loud as it mixed the excitement and disbelief together. "The float - it well floated above that wave. That is incredible, it raised itself up. It was incredible.'

Bartomus laughed and it was a laugh of survival. When he paused and looked about, he realized that there were some of the Shields how were injured. "Alright, who needs some healing. Come to Bart and he can make it all feel better, or well some of it for some, maybe."

"Uhh...there you go ma'am. Hope I wasn't too rough on ya. Did you say that you were missing somebody?"

He looks down and sees a narrow gray stone with streaks of brown, half the length of his hand that is smooth nearly all over but broken on one end. He leans down, picks it up and tucks it in his belt pouch.

Eventually the noises of excited relief makes her realize that nothing is going to happen. Very confused she emerges and looks around at the extremely dry, not-at-all damaged docks. "Great, now I"m hallucinating tidal waves. Everyone probably thinks I'm an idiot."

Sheepishly she rejoins the group, hanging in the back and trying not to become the center of attention, at least until she either overhears or is told what actually happened.

A wave of relief washes over him as he realizes everyone is ok. Not quite sure how to react and with the adrenaline rush over he loses it when he sees Dorbin plop down and pull out his notebook. Laughing uproariously in shear relief he eventually regains his composure.

DM Robert - DID YOU SEE THAT?
Saturday January 6th, 2018 9:41:28 AM

Peace at last...or at least normalcy. The Shields take the opportunity to rest up, heal, and do some training. The people of The Float return to their normal routine. The turtle boats return to the docks. The rats do not.

Two days pass. Well actually the rest of this day and then one whole day of uninterrupted rest.

At the morning of the third day Jella knocks at your door. "Greetings Silver Shields. I am preparing to go to Cutter to see how they fared. That tidal wave was headed their direction." She bites her lip and fidgets slightly. "I'm afraid I really don't have any money or treasure to reward you for this job though."

Bartomus(Rod) HP: 34/34 AC: 13 (11+2); Perc+7;Heal+8
Saturday January 6th, 2018 11:03:08 PM

After the excitement of survival ended, Bartomus headed up to the tattoo parlor on the Trash level and smiled when he walked back through the doorway. "Ok, it's time to get that oakleaf band with Eberyon's face, he's protected this Taur more than enough that I need to proudly show all my devotion."

He made the arrangements to come back a little later to have the work done. It would take some time, but he felt it was long overdue. He indicated the want for a band that would cover a good portion of his right bicep. While that was being drawn up, he made two other stops. One to the WLA to pay his dues as a "Guardian" of the guild. He tensed a bit when he heard the amount, but he had the gold now and it just was easier to spend that while he had it on something useful.

His second stop was at an Taur armorer. He need some armor. He talked with the proprietor and listed off what he wanted: a reinforced kilt, belt, braces, greaves, and a cuirass. It needed to be reinforced and the option of a studded, colored leather caught his fancy. He paid for the items and promised to pick them up the next day when a few additional patterns were added and a place on the cuirass to wear his WLA and Shields insignia were worked into the piece.

He also made another stop at the clothier and placed an order for three of the thicker woven silk blue and green patterned shirts that he had found earlier. The jingle in his purse was less at this point, but he was pleased with what he had spent the gold on. He looked about the shop and saw a thick quilted and padded gambeson that would fall below his waist covered by the kilt and held in by the wide belt that covered most of his abdomen. It was a dark blue and it would play well with the dark green dyed leather of the pieces he had purchased earlier.

He was told to have a good meal before coming back to the tattoo salon and so he found a Taur owned shop and ate heartily. Then he wandered back in and endured a grimace filled few hours as the sharp needles worked the intricate pattern of ink into his thick skin.

His purse much lighter, his head swimming and his biceps aching, Bartomus returned late to the headquarters with the healing salve and directions in hand. He crashed and slept a much needed sleep that evening.

He spent the next day picking up his purchases and was exceptionally happy with the additional studding the armorer had done on the kilt's front panels. Each had a pattern that looked like a stylized tree. The rest of the day he spent walking the market looking for some additional large bones to use for carved panels. He had had a few more inspired ideas to try his craft out on. He dined with the Shields that were about when dinner time came and enjoyed the company of his comrades.

He was only partially awake when he heard the knocking. He sighed and rolled out of bed pulling on his kilt and tunic as he made his way across the room, down the stairs and towards the door. By the time he got there, Jella had already been let in and he caught her request. A 'free' trip to Cutter, he thought, [i]what could possibly go wrong?[/]

"I take it you are expecting problems, so you need some help or at least guards? I guess the new armor needs to be tried out." He said with a bit of hesitation.

After a day of training, Stock returns to HQ looking utterly destroyed. After everything that's been going on, being put through his paces at the WLA guild house sorely taxed the dwarf. Still though, this is the weariness of hard work so at least that part makes him happy. The more observant of the Shields also recognize him wearing a new belt and while his armor looks the same, there is something different about it.

He goes to bed early and wakes up even earlier so when Jella arrives, he has already been putzing around the HQ for a few hours. He lets the others greet her and just listens. Without a word, he goes to begin packing.

I knew we wouldn't be sitting around long. Too much going on the in the Wold these days for that

At the WLA Stohp gets a crash course on how to use that flail she found. After several hours she's tripping and disarming mock opponents left and right.

Upon hearing about the wave possibly hitting Cutter she immediately volunteers her service. "We're here to help. Pay is nice, but not the point. Have you checked at any of the temples to see if they'll bring aid? There might be wounded and/or supplies."

Micah heads to the WLA with several of the other Shields to brush up on some training. He notices while he is there that he gets a lot more attention now than he used to when he would be training - even going so far as to get the odd autograph request from some of the younger guild members.

When Jella comes to talk of an expedition to Cutter, he says, "Where is the boat and what time do we leave?"

After two full days of reading in armour, eating in armour, sleeping in armour, swimming in armour, running around in armour, Sid finally takes it off. "Ye gods mighty and small, I'm not doing that again if I can help it. I'm going to take a bath." And then Jemma walks in needing help. Sid sighs, "Alright, at least let me rinse off. Ffloyd awl, "He says looking at his tunic, "at least this wasn't my favorite shirt." Thirty minutes later he is ready to go, "If we're going to go out there we should bring extra supplies food, water, things to heal with, because I don't think that wave will have done nothing."

Jella smiles, at Bartomus. "I'm not sure what to expect. But I've heard that tidal waves can devastate a shore line. And a few strong and able hands could help clear any obstructions."

She nods to Stock, "Supplies would be prudent.
OOC as a reminder, do you have the vials of scent masking from the halfing. Who by the way is still holed up in your warehouse headquarters.

Turning to Stohp she replies, "Well I figure between myself and Micah we should be able to heal any hurts. At least I hope so. If it's something more than that I'm not sure there's a cleric on the Float that would be willing to go."

She responds to Micah. "As to leaving, as you remember Cutter is on the extreme opposite end of the Lake from here. We can take a turtle boat now and arrive in the evening, or we can wait and take a boat this evening and arrive in the morning. It depends on if you want to walk through the woods in the near dark or in the light of day."

He looks at Bartomus, "If we want to get there in the morning, though, we won't be sleeping in our beds. It will be like last time and we'll have to sleep on board the boat. Still though, I think it is the better option."

"As much as they might need us, I think it's best to arrive in the morning. Most of us are going to be very limited in night time assistance. However let's not waste the time we have today. I'm going to go talk to the people of the Fence and see if we can get together a shipment of supplies we can take with us. Food, first aid, and whatever else we can gather up. That way when we get there we'll be fully equipped."

As good as his word Zander immediately starts making the rounds of the Fence. Going to old friends and new asking for supplies to be gathered at the Silver Shield HQ for a relief trip to the Cutter. He asks for food, first aid, blankets, and able bodies, asking that everything be ready to go by that evening when the turtle boat departs. Even Zander's smooth tongue trips a little as he feels awkward asking for things, but his message is still clear.

Stohp agrees with those who want to leave in the morning. "Rushing off to help when we don't have the supplies to actually do anything helps no one. Worst case scenario is that they don't need the supplies and we just bring them back; the other way around it'll take a second round trip and possibly several days to render aide."

"Then it's agreed, I'll meet you down at dock 2 at 7pm." Jella nods her head and heads out the door.

Zanderallen and Sid go out to see what emergency supplies they can beg for. Zanderallen's eloquence is still better than the average person's cynicism and by 6pm they have managed to gather a fair bit of supplies:
14 blankets,
5 pounds of cheese
30 loaves of bread
10 smoked sausages (1 lb each)
supplies for 2 healers kits
2, 50 foot lengths of hemp rope
30 filled water flasks
1 tent in old condition.
Fortunately you manage to stuff everything in several bags and a couple of old backpacks, still you can assume everyone is going to have at least 1 hand busy carrying the goods to camp.

Stohp goes up to check on Briadoc. The little halfing is still busy with his pots. He is watering them right now, nothing is growing yet, after all it's only been a few days.

At 7pm you gather at the dock and Jella greets you. "My you've been busy." She helps by taking up some of the supplies. You board a turtle.

"Name's Pete you're on the best turtle there is. Right Snappy?" He grins and uses his pole to get the turtle moving. "It's gonna be cold on the lake tonight. Clear sky and autumn weather makes for a cold lake trip."

(OOC, if there's anything else you want to grab and take please list it...or buy...you really shouldn't grab it if you're on the Float, that would be stealing. Do you set a watch, try to sleep, talk to Jella or Pete?)

With that, Stock boards the turtle boat, rests his weapon on the ground, props his head on his pack, and falls quickly asleep.

Bartomus pitched in and helped move supplies down to the docks as they were brought and bagged up. On one of his trips through the Float, he picked up two more doses of the pretty potent curing potion and added them to his emergency flask. With the way things could go for the Shields, and not knowing what the village might be like when they arrived, having the ability to offer a potion or two to cure the wounded just made sense. He also picked up all of the items that he purchased and looked over the When the evening came, the Taur was tired and threw himself on his bunk at the headquarters.

He walk even earlier than he expected. The excitement and concern of the trip being a motivation to seek the calm mediation time he had become accustomed to and he found a place among the trees. In the course of his mediation, his mind bounced between water and lights, fire and healing and then he found himself replaying the lighting strike he saw. That was new, but he saw the lighting and the pulling it down to the earth. When he finished, he wandered back to the headquarters, grabbed a hot breakfast roll, and got himself ready with his new armor, kilt and shirt. He headed down to the dock with the others.

He helped load the supplies onto the turtle and thanked Pete for the ride. "So, how long have you and Snappy cruised these waters?"

Happy and thankful to the Fence for the people's generosity Zanderallen sees that all the supplies are properly packaged and stowed aboard the turtle boat. He eyes the Float nervously as they pull away from the dock, a little worried about whether it would stay put after the evasion of the tidal wave. He eventually forces himself to look away and focus on the task at hand. Zanderallen takes first watch when his limited perception is the least likely to be needed. He attempts to chat with Jella, asking how she's been doing since the orcs and general small talk. If she wants he keeps talking hoping to distract her from the worry of what they might find at the Cutters.

DM Robert - Morning is better.

Pete laughs at Bartomous's question. "Cruise the waters, that's a good one. Well I been pilot of Snappy here for nigh on to 15 years. Served as a porter before that."

He goes about his business, which is largely just standing near the turtle's head, leaning on a very long staff capped with brass ends. At Sid's query he says, "Well I'm not real sure. He may, not that he talks back much. Sometimes he seems to steer with a word, sometimes I have to get his attention with this here." He raises the staff slightly.

The rest of the night passes uneventfully.

In the morning you near shore. Before you lies a vast stretch of land that clearly seems to have been hit with something. You not debris from the turtle's back as well as a foul smell wafting from the shore. Pete seems to have some trouble getting the turtle to land. When Snappy does make it to shore he seems to want to turn and head for the water immediately. Pete calls out "Better hurry and unload, Snappy seems a might agitated."

You quickly unload and stand at the shore. You note many of the nearby tree's seem to have been shorn of limbs, which lie haphazardly on the ground. The tree's look bare, like naked sticks stuck in the ground. The beach is strewn with sea weed and dead fish, also what appear to be old logs like driftwood. (knowledge nature 15) Highlight to display spoiler: {These are logs that have probably been lost over time during transport to the Float, or other natural disasters. Having been preserved in the deep regions of the lake they are preserved by natural tannin's in the lake. They are prized for woodworking because of this.}

The dead fish and seaweed are also presumable from the lake, most likely swept up by the tidal wave. However having now been out of the water for 3 days they are quite stinky. There are a multitude of birds flocking around picking at the dead fish. The birds scatter whenever you come close and give you a rousing cawing of their opinion of you disturbing their free meal. Jella studies them for awhile. "I wonder where they came from, there are few animals in the Crying Wood and even birds seem to avoid it."

Jella stands at the edge of the woods peering at the path, that is now covered with broken tree limbs. She turns to you as you approach. "Looks like we will need to clear a path. But strangely I don't feel any sort of presence."

"This place got hit hard, and it stirred up a lot from down deep too," Bartomus said as he grimaced at the smell of dead fish and decaying plants. As they unloaded the the relief goods and slipped the packs on, he looked about and realized that the logs weren't just broken trees.

"Hey, there is some pretty good timber, old logged timbers from down in the bottom of the Lake. Worth a good price in the Float." Bartomus looked at a few of the logs and whistled aloud, "there's some free gold in this stuff."

When they worked about to the edge of the woods, the path seemed to be lost in the course weave of limbs and down trees that had seaweed and an occasional fish added into the chaotic pattern. 'Maybe we stack the packs here and start clearing a path? It would be easier that way, hard to do a lot of lifting with a lot of stuff on our backs."

When Bart mentions the debris from the depths, Dorbin has an idea. He casts detect magic and scans around the area to see if there might be anything else that's been driven up from the depths of the lake that might have been lost and be magical...

As Jella watches the birds and mentions the lack of presence Stohp walks up. "The woods have gone silent. I heard about it on the float and we intended to get out here and investigate it eventually." Thinking back she tries to remember how long it's been. "I want to say it's been a week since we heard the news? I'm really not sure, everything is happening at once and it's hard to keep everything strait. Regardless it's more than long enough for birds all around the lake to discover and exploit the sudden silence. Plenty of easy meals off half-plant animals that haven't had normal birds pursue them for their entire lives."

Stohp gives the timber a calculating look (Craft: Carpentry 24). "It's a nice find but before everyone starts making plans to use it up we need to check on the town. If the tidal wave destroyed houses this is the perfect source of wood for repair. Need before greed."

After he moves it out of the way, he adds "Sid and Dorbin, keep an eye out, or two, while we work. When one of us needs a break, you can spell us." With a wink to Dorbin, he clarifies, "I mean take a turn while one of us rests."

Bartomus helped Zander to clear a spot to where they could put the supplies with Sid and Dorbin. When they had an adequate space cleared, he started moving things to either side of where he thought he could find a path. He tried to get a sense of how far the lake had smashed into the shore. After a while, huffing from the exertion, he paused and looked up as to where he was in relationship to the supply depot.

DM Robert - Morning is better.

The of clearing a path begins. Bartomous and Stock agree that the formerly submerged logs would make beautiful items. Unfortunately they are also extremely heavy having absorbed much water and minerals. In fact they will no longer float.

Stock questions the need to put on the lotion, the woods seem normal to him.

Jella replies, "No I don't think we need that anymore."

As you work you notice this time the woods feel different, there is no longer that sense of being watched the sense of impending dread, the unseen force pushing down on your sinuses. By mid-day you've cleared a path and walk purposefully to Cutter. It is evident the wave did not reach them. In the distance you can hear the whack of an axe in a tree and good natured calls and jests among the loggers. You exit the forest and approach upon the camp.

Suddenly it seems like the Wold has become agitated. All the birds in the forest take wing en-mass and head northward. Dogs in the camp began barking madly. There are a few mules in camp and they start bucking and snorting. Elly joins in the fracas and begins hissing and spitting at nothing, circling under Dorbin's feet and scratching at the air.

In one of the pauses, Bartomus walked over to Jella. He wasn't sure what to say, but felt that something should be said to her. The change meant that her ties to the Wood that was her father weren't there. Not knowing his parents, he didn't have a reference in this situation. "It's different, sometimes harder. Thanks for coming back here with us and sorry it's all different."

He continued with the efforts to make the path easier and when they reached the village, it had been spared. Good, he thought, good. He tried waiving at a few of the villagers, but then things went wild literally. Birds took to flight, animals started acting like something was coming to harm them. He stopped and looked about trying to get a sense of the direction that the animals were trying to shy away from.

And I'm sure he'd be very proud of you right now." Giving her shoulder an encouraging squeeze he goes back to helping clear a path.

As the camp comes into view and seems to be out of the devastation of the wave Zander let's out the breath he'd been holding since seeing the shore line. However as the animal life goes crazy he freaks out. Having had no experience with large groups of animals other than dog packs the flock of birds above him terrifies him slightly. Saturday January 13th, 2018 10:18:24 AM

Stock and Sid step forward to help with the animals as Dorbin kneels down to try to communicate with Elly.

In the wake of all the animal activity suddenly things get eerily quiet, so quiet in fact that you could hear a pin drop if you were so inclined. It doesn’t last long. All of a sudden there comes a horrendous crash and things sound as if the Wold is tearing itself apart. The sound is so loud that you can’t quite pinpoint where it is coming from and if you were hard pressed to guess you would have to say everywhere but you aren’t quite sure how that is possible but suffice it to say it is that LOUD.

PCs (and animals) will be required to make a Fort save vs DC20. If failed they are deafened for 3 posting days.

The sound seems to come from everywhere and nowhere. Zanderallen on the alert scans with knowing perception. Highlight to display spoiler: {Meteors can be seen streaking across the sky, with brilliant sparkling colors trailed by fiery tails. Some may continue to pass overhead, some may land nearby. The meteors are traveling south-south east, to north-north west...roughly}

Eventually the racket subsides and you hope for a second that maybe whatever that was signified the end of all the troubles happening of late. If only things were so fortunate because not even a full moment after the thundering noise ceases does the ground start trembling again...could it be an earthquake?

This activity feels different as if it is in reaction to something major and not the main event itself. Is the Wold really being split apart? Have the Woldians done something to anger the Gods? Who knows?

Reflex check 20 to stay on your feet.

The ground you are standing on rocks back and forth like a ship tossed about in a tempestuous sea. Bits of dust and tree leaves start to fall from the forest, maybe a branch or two. One of the lumber's homes collapes. Fissures open up in the ground along the trails. An unattended cart in your proximity tumbles down one of the chasms that have opened up and after a short amount of time you hear the impact of wood on rock and you think luckily there wasn’t a horse attached to it.

And then just as quickly as the concussive sound appeared and the tremors started, the Wold shaking terminates.

By some grace Zanderallen manages to react just in time to save but his ears and footing. Covering his ears and bracing he suffers no I'll effects. "I can hear you. I think the sky is falling." Zander calls out as he puts out the meteors shooting across his view. He accompies his yell with a hand gesture as he realizes several of his companions can't hear. Looking around to make sure they're alright he also starts jogging towards the village. Being careful to stay away from all the fissures. He keeps glancing up at the meteors, wondering how long before the rest of the sky followed it down. This is what he imagined it would look like if the Float ever fell apart.

Zanderallen may have a concussion because his spelling is terrible.

There seems to be a mass of confusion, you can see the residents of Cutter (you are outside the forest proper on the trail/road) shaking their heads and shouting at each other.

Zanderallen points upward and you see...hundreds of meteors streak across the sky - all coming from the south. They look to be made of brilliant colors that sparkle in the sunlight and are trailed by fiery tails. Their sizes vary from the size of a cart to the size of a mighty galleon. Many fly through the upper atmosphere on long trajectories towards other distant locations. Suffice to say they will strike throughout the Wold.

Knowl Geography
DC20: Highlight to display spoiler: { There are a number of volcanoes in the Wold: Bonetown is based alongside one, and the Volcanoes in the Scab are famous for their ferocity. But this phenomenon comes from a completely different direction to those. To the best of your knowledge there are no volcanoes anywhere in the Wold that could erupt so tremendously}

Knowl Nature Wow really, the druid puts only 1 rank into knowledge nature? Last time the DM adjusts some required rolls...
DC5: Highlight to display spoiler: {The sky is falling! The sky is falling!}
DC15: Highlight to display spoiler: {These meteors are unlike any you have ever seen or heard of. They don't even look like ordinary rocks - they sparkle and twinkle as they pass overhead. There is no discernible heat from them that would indicate they originated from a recent volcanic eruption}

Knowl History
DC20: Highlight to display spoiler: {Never in recorded history has the Wold experienced such an event. This is something completely new.}

The meteors soar overhead and continue out of sight but you can hear some of them land in the distance with a soft *whoompf* sound. Some sound close, some faint. The Wold is being peppered with these things.

As you watch the sky you notice that one is particularly low. So low in fact that for a moment you fear it may even hit the Tree itself! It passes very low overhead. You can feel the gust of wind that follows it and the subsequent change in air pressue that you feel in your chest. It impacts not too far away. Much much closer than the others *WHOOMPF* The ground shakes again but far less violently than before. A red glow quickly and ominously fills the sky in the direction of what you assume was the impact, before fading away.

Knowl Geography/Local/Survival
DC10: Highlight to display spoiler: {Based on it's trajectory you put it landing somewhere northeast of Cutter, somewhere in the former Crying Wood. It was flying so low that best guess is that it would be less than a day's travel from Cutter.}

Bartomus gets a distinct sense of dread, and it's not just from what they have seen. You can't put your finger on it but something deep within you tells you that something terrible is about (or has?) to happen. The feeling is so strong. It's like... a feeling that you're about to die?

OOC: This explosion is so huge that it is being felt/played in every game in the Wold!

Micah exclaims in wonder, "The paladin's right. The sky is falling." He should be frightened, but, given the magnitude of events there is nothing he knows to do that could preserve himself, so he chooses not to be.

After admiring the wondrous atmospheric display he keeps an eye on area where the meteorite struck.

He backed away from the fissure when the heavens lit up with the streaking lights of meteors. He had seen shooting stars and stars that fell from heaven in hills and prairies of the Great Plains. When they found the hot molten fallen stars, the smiths made something from the metal for the Chiefs. But here, in the silence of the day, this was different so very, very different.

"IS THERE HIGHER GROUND? We need to find something solid, rock solid away water and the lake. " Bartomus was shouting even louder than he could bellow. He looked about the village and the villages. He could see them talking, but he couldn't hear anything. "That is going to strike not far from here. We need to find some place safe..."

"WARDD PROTECT HER AND FFLOYD GUIDE HER," he says as he awaits the impacts.

DM Robert - The paladin's right. The sky is falling.
Tuesday January 16th, 2018 8:29:13 PM

Micah scans the location where the meteor hit, the glow fades. Thankfully it does not look like fire. Also there does not seem to be any more meteors. It seems they passed in a wave, how bizarre, almost as if they were all from the same source.

Bartomus shouts about needing to find higher ground. What could be higher than some of the trees of the Crying Wood you just passed through. However, many of the townspeople of Cutter seem to be walking around in a daze. His shouts are enough to deafen those that are not already deafened.

Stohp thinks she knows where that low flying meteor hit. It's relatively nearby, well as the crow flies, between here and the lake, but somewhere in the woods and not near the path you just came up on. No you can't auto fail on a knowledge check

Stock also is pretty sure he knows where the meteor hit. He just can't hear anything still. Wait, now there is a ringing in his ears, however each ear is ringing at a different pitch. (Welcome to my world, I really do have tinnitus in both ears and they ring at a different pitch, for me there is no such things as silence. Stock hopes the effect ends soon.

Dorbin in a state of near shock tries to clear his ears, he is desperate to hear something...anything...wait was that Bartomous whispering something?

Zanderallen waves his arms and seems to attract the attention of several residents.

Jella turns to Zanderall. "Follow us? Where are we going to take them?" She looks up. "The meteors seem to have passed."

Sid cries out his will, hoping someone could hear him. He realizes that there has never been a meteor show like this before. It was not like any other, instead of heated rocks they appeared to be diamonds or glass, or maybe some form of quartz. And as they passed over there were sparkles of color, as if pieces were being chipped off by the savage passage through the atmosphere. Truly something to be recorded for posterity, if there is any posterity.

Those that can hear, now realize that several of the party seem to be shouting loudly. Of course there are many (well most) residents of Cutter shouting and gesturing at each other too.

"Clear of anything that might fall," replies Micah in response to Jella. "Beyond that anywhere is just as likely to be safe or unsafe."

Especially after their rodent experience on the Float, Micah is concerned about what creatures might stir as a result of all the upheavals. Having deduced that both Bartomus and Dorbin are deaf, he gets each of their attention and gathers them together. He then points to their ears, then draws the Rod of Silent Spells from his belt, extending it out in a welcoming gesture. If either reaches for it, he hands it to them with a smile. If not, he returns it to his belt and with a flourish indicates that they are encouraged to grab it should they see a need.

Stohp's hearing is finally starting to get slightly better. She's still basically deaf, but to her relief it doesn't seem likely to be permanent. Looking towards the meteor's crash site she motions towards it, trying to indicate that they should go investigate. She really, really doesn't want to go to the ominously glowing rock, but that's the kind of thing she signed up for in the adventuring business. She wasn't about to get cold hooves and flee.

"Sorry about that Jella. I just couldn't help it. There probably isn't a good place to take them. Let's get the town gathered up so we can make sure no one is missing. Then we'll leave the supplies here and go check out the meteor that landed just over there unless someone has a better idea." He wanders off to check on the townspeople, muttering to himself, "I wonder what a piece of the sky looks like? Is it magic like the Float? At least I think the Float is magic. Suddenly everyone realizes that people are shouting. Some people's ears are ringing somewhat but your hearing is definitely back!

Bartomus and Zanderallen take the lead in rounding up the citizens of Cutter. While seemingly a daunting task it takes only a little time. Sid pitches in immediately, his mind breifly siezes as he tries to calculate the trajectories of so many meteors. He concludes that everyplace on the Wold must have taken a hit or near hit.

The citizens of Cutter are thankful for the supplies you have brought now. Before they may not have needed them, but there are many minor injuries, scraps, cuts, and the like. And of course many near the animals took some hurt trying to control them. They are stunned, in shock, and definitely afraid. Nothing like this has happened in their lifetimes. Many look to you expectantly.

Dorbin takes the wand knowing instantly what it is. Micah nods and girds himself for what may lay ahead.

Stock and Stohp stare into the woods. The red glow has faded. But what landed, what new devastation has befallen forest.

It is a little after noon.

Everyone receives 1 hero point for attempting to help the people of Cutter. Remember you got a hero point when you leveled up as well. You can only 'hold' as many hero points as you have levels.

"Well, we're burning daylight here. Off to the falling rock then?"

His inclination is aligned with the others who have spoken. He takes a moment to survey the townspeople and realizes they are frightened and in need of some direction. "Good people of Cutter," he begins gently but loudly, "None of us know what to expect, but we do know that working together makes us stronger. Continue to watch out for each other while we, the Silver Shields, make sure there is no threat from what fell to the earth. We hope to be back by nightfall, but it may be farther away than we think, so do not be concerned if we are not."

Stohp is more than a little relieved to be able to hear again, though her head still hurts and her hearing isn't 100%. "I don't think rocks usually glow bright red. That just stinks of magic. Jella separates herself from you and turns to speak. "I think I'll stay here in Cutter, in case anything comes from another direction....or if something gets past you. Besides, I might still be able to warn The Float...should you not return."

The woods look...like woods. There are mighty trees here and the leaves crinkle beneath your feet as you start walking into the forest. Not all the leaves have fallen from the tree's yet, so there are still instances of shade but you can also tell the direction and height of the sun.

Again the last time you were in the woods you felt like you were constantly being watched, there is no sense of that.

All groaning, cawing, and chittering in a terrible unnatural way and frothing at the mouth as they do so.

As you watch you can see the animals suffer even further. Their fur and feathers fall from their bodies as it is washed away from the blood that covers them, like dirt washed from hands. The blood is seeping out of their skin and eyes. The beetle's shell seems to crack and the exoskeleton on the legs seems to slough off sightly, you realize their is blood seeming from the joints and crevasses on the beetle. There is something deeply wrong here.

It is obvious the putrid smell attracted some crows that have landed on the animals that are not moving, pecking and tearing away pieces of flesh. A scraggly wolf is tearing at the writhing deer not being content to wait for it to die.

Stohp starts towards the front of the formation and a little to the side. Just behind Zander and Micah. However the anticipation of what is to come starts to get to her.

Previously in the woods the sense that it hated them was unsettling, but it was a known danger they had prepared for. Now that feeling was gone, chased off by the recent events, and they were traveling towards something she knew in her gut was going to be really, really bad, but had no way of preparing for beforehand. As they walk through the woods the "What if's" consume her, making her more and more tense, causing her to lag further and further behind until she's way in the back, behind everyone else.

When the party finally reaches the crater it's actually a relief. Finally she can see the danger and have something for her mind to chew on and try to figure out. She hurries to catch up and see what the others are already staring at.

It's worse than anything she imagined on the way there. She'd imagined horrible monsters and animals twisted into mutant monstrosities, terrible things but things they could kill with sword and bow. How do you fight corrupted plants that infect everything they touch?

"Burn it. she says aloud as the answer comes to her. "All of it. The whole woods if we have to. This can't be allowed to spread and fiery death looks like it'd be a mercy to these poor creatures."

As the party hike through the woods, a small part of Stock notes the sight of the deer running free. He waves his hand off in that direction to show the others but otherwise keeps moving, head looking back and forth on a swivel.

He makes it to the crater and firmly presses his lips together. He scans the carnage and spots an unfamiliar plant along the edge of the crater. Pointing it out to Bartomus he says, "You ever seen anything like that before? With them leaves and those vines? Weird."

"I don't know guys, I think we gotta check out what's inside that crater. It could have been the meteor impact that...did this."

Stock takes his rope off his pack, ties it around his waste and hands the other end to Zanderallen.

"Pull me out if I go down."

Stohp waves at the red plants and infected wildlife. "Burn the red stuff first. Once it's clear we can trudge through the ashes and destroy the source. No point in risking any of us by walking on it."

Suiting actions to words she starts looking for flammable material (Perception 18 to find, Carpentry 18 to know what burns best). It's going to take a lot to start a fire big enough to burn the whole area. "Does anyone have any spells to help burn things? We need to move fast or it'll expand past our ability to torch it."

Okay first some clarification because some of you seem to have misinterpreted things.
1 - there is no fire.
2 - there is a RED GLOW, its from inside the crater, you can't quite make it out from where you are.
3 - there was no ash, that was just the dust and debris that spewed up from the meteor hit...and some of the burnt up meteors that passed overhead...NO FIRE, NO ASH.
4 - You ain't that close to the meteor yet...

The party stops a ways back from the meteor and observes things. You note that you are now near the shore of the lake. map

Suddenly the deer that was bleeding out and being gnawed on by the wolf staggers to its feet. Its ears twitch. The wolf trembles and coughs violently, you see bits of blood and meat come out of its mouth. One of the Giant Beetles staggers to it's feet. The other beetle's shell seems to collapse in upon itself.

You are not in rounds yet, no creature/person has attacked any other creature/person.

The Giant Beetle continues forward. (oops I didn't make it large, fixed that).

Secondly Stohp's position...Okay yes I forgot Stohp is large, corrected that. On position however...Stohp never declared a specific location,
Monday the map was put up and characters were placed. Monday "Stohp advances a little closer towards the red stuff ",
Tuesday "ending up somewhere close behind where Micah is now (single move)." You could not get to where Micah was in a single move. He ran forward to get where he was a double move would have gotten you about where you wanted to be. I will adjust you and consider that you took a DOUBLE move to get there.

Sid cannot move to E6 and take a full attack action. You can move and shoot once or you can 5 foot step and shoot rapid shot. Since you said you move first, that is your primary.
Sid moves to E6. His shot is a miss.

Stohp charges pell mell at the beetle. Her swing connects!

Dorbin moves to S27 (you can't make s25 in 1 move). He casts a spell and a green bolt shoots from his hand to hit the wolf. The eagles manage to kill the crow.

Eagle 3 (e3) coughs.

Micah hurries forward but Stohp has charged ahead and is slightly closer in order to reach the beetle. Micah finds himself next to the tree and beside Stohp.

Stock moves lateral and flings his javelin, grimacing as Stoph crosses in front of him. He sees the javelin hit and feels some satisfaction.

Zanderallen swings his sword to no effect (missed it by thaat much).

The beasties react.

Poor thing...these things are supposed to be pretty docile I think. Guess we just need to put it out of its misery.

Thrown off by his compassion for the beetle, Stock makes a hash of his attack and instead pounds his flail into the ground.

Micah snakes his way around and then swings at the bloody beetle. The sight of blood oozing from the beetle's joints must have unnerved him for his swing is a miss.

Bartomus moves toward the lake (that is only a single move to AE30, you would still have an action). However, being the only person not active in combat, Perception 5 Highlight to display spoiler: {Yes it did the grass and vines spread again, ap13, ar5, at4.}

Dorbin watches as the acid burns the wolf a little more, not that you could really tell much difference with the mangy fur and oozing sores.
He then directs eagle 1 to attack the deer with it does successfully (Fortitude save 15).
He then directs eagle 2 to attack the wolf, but to no effect.
He then directs eagle 3 to attack the wolf, even sicked eagle 3 seems to rally and manages to scratch up the wolf some (another fortitude save 15 please, yes I know he's already sickened...)

Stock maneuvers around the beetle (still not in flanking position) and swings to try to end the beetles misery. He seems unsettled by the pain he imagines the beetle to be in.

Sid shifts slightly and eyes the beetle. Unfortunately it has cover from where he stands the beetle has cover. Sid opts to shoot the wolf and lets fly with 2 arrows. Both hit! Blood seems to gyser out of the wounds as the wolf twitches and flops to the ground. It howls and twitches twice spreading its blood around more then lies still and dies.

Zanderallen swings into the wolf only to find the wolf has flopped under his blade spraying blood from the arrow wounds. He continues his swing around into the deer and hits it across the neck. The flesh parts and blood spurts out from the severed artery. The deer collapse unceremoniously.

Stohp steps back, winds up, and clobbers the tree.

The beetle shifts its attack to Micah, could can see blood dripping from the mandibles. He bites...
To hit d20+6=25. Micah feels the pinchers press on his armor he hears it creek and bend but it does not break. Domi seems to be on his side today since he choose to fight defensively.

Baromus scurries forward.

Micah thanks Domi and swigs mightly at the beetle and hears a loud crack as the beetle's shell fractures. Blood oozes out of the minute fissures. The beetle chomps its pinchers at Micah. Clearly its not dead yet.

Sid advances slowly studying the situation. I'm not sure what you're getting at here. As I see it the beasts are one problem the meteor is one problem and the spreading grass/vines/leaves are another problem. The beasts you need to deal with in combat rounds, the other 2 not necessarily.

Stohp withdraws from the combat and winds up close to where she dropped the sticks. She can't use this round to pick them up though, withdraw is a full-round action.

Stock shifts around the beetle and swings his flail. There is resounding crack as the flail powers through the beetle's shell and black bloody inards spray the area. The beetle collapse into a pile of vile smelling bugness. The legs twitch one then splay out from the body.Stock you are enlarged, please list that as a spell effect that affects you along with the remaining duration.

Dorbin directs his eagles toward the beetle, but see's that will not be necessarily. He scans around carefully, but from where he stands can see no other dangers.

Zanderallen prods the dead deer and moves closer to the red grass. He can see it's actually a strange kind of grass, not leaves or vines. It was just the impresion he got from the distance and seeing the grass moving against and without wind. The grass is about 8 inches high and sometimes it twines together giving the impression of a vine. He thought it was a leaf because of the broadness of the grass. He's not seen anything like this. Maybe some knowledge checks are in order. You did not specify where you moved to. So I moved you 1 move due west to AM16. Assuming you are currently 'off the carpet' and since you didn't really specify a perception check other than looking at the grass...that's all you get.

The battle with the diseased animals is over. The Shields maneuver around.

Zanderallen and Stock get right to the edge of the strange red grass almost bumping into each other. They brave their reaction time should the grass encroach where they are standing. Fortunately the grass seems to be staying put. They both detect a sickly sweet smell coming from the grass, similar to what you would smell from a festering wound.

The heat from the flaming Sphere (big red S on the map, apparently if you type a big F it thinks you want to put in a formula) causes wave of heat to billow skyward. Stock can see that the magical fire seems to have no effect on the grass, the ground beneath the sphere begins to darken with heat, but the grass remains as every swaying in the none wind. It almost seems as if they were more small tentacles coming from the ground rather than grass, the way they twist and move with no wind.

Stock is pretty sure he's never ever seen grass like this in the Wold. He tries to peer into the crater and his elevation gives him a slight advantage. There is a large meteor there. It appears to be more like a chunk of quartz or misshapen blob of glass. It glows red, whether from heat, magic, or something else he has no idea.

Zanderallen studies the grass, nothing religious comes to mind, but there must be something magical going on here. He's pretty sure of that, he's just not sure what. But as his childhood friend Dante used to say "Fire Good". He throws a flask of oil to join with the flaming sphere. The fire licks at the oil that coats the grass. The grass should act as a wick and the conflagration should be fine to watch. Alas it appears more to have the blue flame of oil burning, the grass seems to resist this attempt at fire quite easily.

Sid seems please with himself and stands firm, cocking another arrow.

Dorbin is uneasy and continues to scan around seeing nothing moving.

Stock grabs the sticks she had gathered and hurries back to Micah.

Micah does a little cleaning and sorting stuff out.

Micah casts detect magic and glances around. He notes that the crater and the red grass seem to have a magical aura. The dead beetle, dead wolf, dead deer, and dead crows, do not. Inspecting the body of the beetle reveals that it was indeed diseased somehow...and it appears rapidly. He cannot not identify what the disease is. However, it seems to also have mutated the beetle somewhat. Despite oozing blood it seemed to be somewhat quicker and much more aggressive than before.

Stohp drops her large load of kindling and declares what everyone is certainly feeling. Maybe its beyond anyone's ability to handle, what did the witches say about what was coming?

Bartomus decides to move the flame along. The red grass seems to not even notice its passing. The sandy shore glazes a little in the heat. * He rolls it down into the crater and looses site of it. Don't know if you were aiming for that patch because it was an off color, sorry that was not supposed to be, it was just me being lazy, it's just 'normal' red grass.
* Perception check 15 Highlight to display spoiler: {You do notice that the crater does not have any signs of heat glazing, since it is mostly sand. It's just a bunch of sand and dirt that has had a big rock or something land there.}

Hearing Sid's question, Stock straightens and moves around closer to the meteor impact and the shoreline.

"Let me see, Sid..."

Stock cranes his neck over the shoreline, trying to determine if the red grass is in the water...and even if it is interacting with the water in any way.

"What do you think, Z? Think we can walk on the stuff? I definitely don't trust it."

Realizing how deep the crater is as he tries to scan into Zanderallen moves where he can see into the crater. Continuing his focus of detect evil until he can be certain the meteor itself isn't radiating any, regardless of the grass. "I'd be careful if I was you Stock. Although your hardy dwarf constitution will probably help in keeping you safe there is some disease at work here and I'd rather none of us caught it. Speaking of which, if anyone starts experiencing any symptoms tell me immediately. I can focus Domi's mercy to remove disease as well as wounds."

Micah trots up to join the others. As he does so he calls out, "Whatever this disease is, it seems to have a short incubation period and it seems to be altering the creature it infects. Both the crater and the red grass radiate magic. Since fire does not affect it, let us try something different. Normal rules may not apply. Once I get closer I will hit it with some water. "

He looks to see what is happened at the edge of the lake.

Bartomus studies the ground from where he is. He indicates that the crater made by the meteor does not appear to have any heat signature.

Sid asks about the grass and the water line.

Stock looks to check out about Sid's question. Yes he can definitely see that AW6 is actually partial under water, and AW9 is under water. The grass seems to be acting the same under water as above the water.

Zanderallen moves around Stock to try to pear into the crater. Fortunately nothing appears to be evil. Then Zanderallen realizes that godly powers, and certainly many of the non-godly greater powers of the Wold have not concept of good and evil as normal humans understand the concepts.

Dorbin moves up...You did not specify a location so I double moved you to AB20

Micah looks up from where he stands and is almost blinded by the power of the aura of magic coming from the grass and crater. I assume it's still up the duration indicates it should be and you didn't specify that you were dropping it. He ponders the arcane powers involved, and decides that running and pondering don't seem to work well together because he can't figure it out.

Stohp hurries after Micah.

Curiously the red grass does not seem to have spread in recent rounds. Maybe it has stopped and your fears are for not. The forest seems quiet, unnaturally so for a forest, but then most of you are city bred and have not really ventured out of the security of the Float much in your life. Do you really know what forest sounds like most of the time?

Bartomus moved closer towards the red lined hole. He couldn't understand what had caused the weird colors to seep into the ground and withstand his sphere's flame. He couldn't shake the feeling of unease that seemed to hang over them and the forest. He looked about the forest to see what the rest of the forest was doing in reaction to the thing in front of him.

Zanderallen stops focusing his inner eye. "It's not evil in the traditional sense of the word. But like the presence that used to inhabit these woods it may be something outside that. Stohp moves suspiciously to the edge of the grass, eyeing it distastefully. She kicks at the edge with her hoof trying to remove a divot to see what happens, then jumps back quickly.

DM Robert - "Normal rules may not apply."  d100=57 ;
Saturday February 3rd, 2018 9:51:07 AM

The "S" is Bartomus's Flaming Sphere.

Bartomus moves closer. He can see the top flames licking up from his flaming sphere. He thinks the center of the crater may be 4 to 6 feet deep. It would be hard to judge accurately still from where he stands. He imagines it would take some knowledge nature to know the shoreline consistency of sand and mud and then possibly some engineering to determine trajectory, height, speed, and angle of impact, and possibly more fancy pants talk to determine how much force would be required to make such a crater.

Sid creeps closer and asks some questions. He's told the fire doesn't seem to affect the grass. Also the grass is growing partly submerged, but possibly not as far under the water as first thought. It seems only as far as the tops of the grass slightly poke out of the water. Kind of like water weeds maybe.

Stock looks around. Everyone seems to be at least nearby. Micah has not healed anyone but then Stock doesn't recall anyone shouting out that they were hit and needing healing.

Micah moves around. He thinks he might be able to look into the crater to judge its depth if he gets a little closer, or somehow can elevate himself slightly. He does see part of what might be some crystal shard or shaft sticking upward from the crater. The whole area is radiating strong magic. He has yet to take some time to try and determine what school(s) it may be.

Stohp moves up next to Stock. She kicks at the edge of the red grass and jumps back. A small divet goes flying forward. It passes through the grass a few inches and falls. The grass did not seem to react to it.

There's a sound to the west, like a plooping pop sort of noise. Many will recognize it as a sound from the water, perhaps it was the sound of a fish briefly surfacing, or maybe a large insect landing at the water and a sea bass making a grab at lunch. Those that turn their heads to look back to the lake will note three large ripples in the water (see the discolored area in the now expanding lake area of the map). Unfortunately the water may still be churned up somewhat from the meteor hit, you can't really see well into it.

Sid goes up to the crater as there seems to seems to be no further threats and joins the talk about the crater. Excitedly he starts to use his still knew understanding of Engineering, only to find that out of the three times he does one calculation, he somehow gets four wrong answers. Maybe it is the nerves from trying to stay well enough from the grass, maybe it is appalling lack of the geologic sciences, or maybe he just needs to study more, either way, he got nothing, and doesn't even notice the three worrying plops in the water.
