DM Mark - What now? d20=12 ; Monday February 5th, 2018 1:43:16 AM
As they are healed of their diseases by Emrys, the members of the wagon caravan are very grateful to the heroes. They have little to offer, but they do insist the party take a small box containing twelve potions. ”These are healing potions. They...they can’t cure sickness, but will heal wounds. Please accept these as payment for your help.” (These are twelve Cure Serious Wounds potions, and will heal 3d8+5 points each.)
Alarmed by the loud sound from back where they fought the beasts, the party prepares to return to the crater area. Velarin says he can teleport some of you the 800 feet back. He casts an extended Haste on the party, and suggests they cast any preparatory spells.
Barratore tries to stop him from casting the Haste, suggesting instead that you all find out what is at the crater first. (Please let me know if Velarin did not cast Haste yet, otherwise I will assume he did.)
Brom drinks a potion of his own, and starts jogging the 800 feet back towards the crater.
Everyone take a hero point for your quick action to save the people at the caravan!
------------------------ (ooc: Teleport will affect the caster and 4 others, or 3 others if you include a large creature like a minotaur.)

Tishe' seems content by Barratorre's silence while keeping watch. The concussive effect from this far away make the sorceress wince, glad the team wasn't standing right next to the blast when it occured!
She shakes her head negatively when Velarin asks for instant transport. "I cast many Lenna's Greater Mending spells at the village right after the earthquake, and then doubled up on spells against the Red Bulls. I can't weave more than Yellow spells like dispel magic or lighting bolt until tomorrow. But I can Fly to get there myself, and with Brom running, you can take Emrys. That will account for me and all the KeeperPack."
With that, Tishe' launches into the air and streaks back to where they came from. Concentrating all on flying, she speeds along at 10' above the ground. Even then, it takes her a bit to get back to their starting point.

Tishe says she will Fly back. (If this is with the Fly spell, the spell only lets you move at double speed, not quadruple speed. At 120’ per round, it will take her about 7 rounds to get back. Please let me know if I missed something.)
Brom is running too. (It’s 800 feet and I believe he moves at 40x5=200’ per round.)
Velarin does not cast Haste, and teleports himself, Emrys, Edson and Barratore back near the crater.
Things look as they did, but there is a reddish dust in the air. Not so much that it obscures vision, but its there. You can taste it in the air - tastes like dirt. There are occasional flashes of light coming from the crater, flashes of different colors. Tall, red weeds and grasses grow in the crater and even in the surrounding area - perhaps a bit more than before. There is a loud humming coming from the crater making it hard to hear much. The red vegetation seems to sway to the humming.
The dead Aurouchs are here as well. The red vegetation seems to sway around some of the bodies here and there, neither covering nor grasping them, and some can be seen wiggling beneath the carcass. Others dead Aurouchs simply lay there.
Some of you are here, and others will be rounds in coming.

Tishe and Brom are en route. Tishe does some quick math in her head as she goes. Brom does not. Tishe sees the barbarian zoom ahead of her - man, that guy’s fast!
Barratore has a bad feeling about the unnatural vegetation. He pulls out his bow.
Velarin flies up 30’ to get a better view. From there, he can see there is something multihued, glittering and luminescent is in the center - some sort of crystal or rock maybe 5 feet or more across. It’s hard to see as it’s mostly covered by the red vegetation. Velarin tries to think of what this could be, but cannot recall anything like it. He does believe these plants are not normal, not of the Wold in any way he knows. He discerns the vegetation does not seem to show any sign of intelligence or intent - so far anyway.
Edson is worried that the dust in the air is making everything sick.
Indeed, there is a red dust in the air here. The humming from the center of the crater continues, though not quite as loud as it was a moment ago. Both inside the crater and out the red weed seem to sway, even though there is no wind here. The recently moved dirt and the dust in the air suggest a recently made crater, but the red vegetation should not have been able to grow this fast.
In a few more rounds Brom joins the group. Tishe is still 3 rounds out.

Tishe and Velarin advance, flying just above the swaying red weeds and draw near the crystal. This close, you can tell the humming coming from the crystal is more of a tonal music, constantly changing as the varying hues from the crystal change. It’s beautiful and chaotic.

Tishe is overcome by the sound, and floats to the ground, stunned. The swaying weeds almost seem to welcome her, gently swaying against her as sinks down among them. The deafened and stunned effects only lasted one round, but the sound continues and Tishe must again make a make a DC 34 Fort Save or gain the Deafened AND Stunned Conditions.
Velarin is likewise affected by the sound. His situation is more complicated with a giant worm trying to bite him in half. The worm swallows him inflicting 22 damage! He is no longer deafened and stunned, but right now he has bigger problems. Also, being inside the creature, Velarin must again make another DC 31 Fort save.
Barratore does his best to move forward, even though the footing is treacherous in the crater (difficult terrain - Sorry for any confusion by using the term “encumbered” terrain - not sure where I got that. Please let me know if I misunderstood your move.) As he wades into the swaying, red weeds they almost seem to caress the minotaur’s legs. The dissonant sound from the crystal is louder has he moves closer, and Barratore must make a DC 29 Fort Save or gain the Deafened AND Stunned Conditions.
The worm lashes out with his tail stinger at Barratore. It hits, but does not confirm the crit. Barratore takes 18 damage and may be poisoned (DC 29 Fort save. Freq 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d4 Strength; cure 3 consecutive saves.) Additionally, Barratore must make a separate DC 31 Fort save.
Brom also moves forward through the difficult terrain of the crater. Emrys moves forward.

Within the great worm, Velarin seems to accept his fate.
Barratore moves up and whales on the beast, striking it once for 51 points, and heroically striked again for another 59.
Brom moves up as Edson hits the creature with another arrow.
Emrys moves up and wastes no time. He summons a quickened Spectral Hand, following with Bestow Curse to sicken the creature. He manages to hit the creature, but it somehow manages to ignore being sick. (Wow - it actually failed that Fort save, but... it does not get sick. Extra credit for a creative curse tho.)
The dissonant sound from the crystal continues. Barratore must make a DC 24 Fortitude save or be deafened for 1 round.
The worm succumbs to the effects of the sound emanating from the crystal and is stunned! While Velarin is still within the stunned worm, he does not suffer crushing damage this round but he does take 8 points of acid damage from the digestive juices within the creature’s belly. On the plus side, Velarin is shielded from the sound and is no longer deaf or stunned.

Barratore lays into the worm, hitting it three times. (Also, I misunderstood your crit in the last post, so I added the 52 damage too.) With his third blow, the great worm falls dead. It’s pretty gross - thick purplish skin, foaming mouth, blood seeping through their nose, eyes, mouth, and pores and dripping from it’s skin.
For Velarin:Highlight to display spoiler: {Velarin feels the great creature he is in lay still. The beast’s muscles no longer contract, but the acid continues, and he takes 8 more acid damage. And it really stinks in here. Velarin digs a scroll out and casts Teleport, appearing 400’ away. (For future reference, a swallowed creature is still subject to the grappled condition, but not now that it is dead.)}
Though the worm now appears prone and still, Edson still sinks an arrow into the creature. The rogue worries a bit that he may hit Velarin in the process.
Brom moves up to the now still worm.

Barratore drinks a Fly potion, and offers to retrieve the immobilzed Tishe, suggesting Brom cut Velarin from the dead worm. Brom grumbles as he moves to the worm cacas with a blade and starts cutting. He doesn’t find Velarin right away - but he does pull out a longbow from the beast. He keeps cutting, looking for the mage.
Velarin sees this scene from high up above. He drops down a bit and shouts to his friends. (I think Velarin has 73 damage.)
Emrys uses Living Voodoo Doll to deafen himself, along with Barratore, Brom and Tishe. This seems to stop the disabling sound from the crystal.
Suddenly, Tishe is deafened and released from her cacophonous coma.
And so it is that only Edson and Velarin hear the two great worms burst forth from the ground and attack, though certainly everyone can see it. Dirt, rock and red weeds fly into the air as the two purplish worms appear, streaked in blood and foaming at the mouth.
One attacks Barratore but fails to pierce his furry hide.

From his high place above the crater, Velarin sees the two worms burst from the ground. He foregoes healing hmself and pulls forth arcane energy. Chain Lightning arcs between the two beasts. Electricity crackles across the bleeding skin of the beasts as they take the full brunt of the spell.
Barratore feels sickened (forgot to mention that last time as a result of that failed Fort save.) Even so, he lashes out against the worm that holds Brom, hitting it twice, once critically.
Emrys casts a quickened spell that give him some measure of control over the worm that holds Brom. Then he casts Suffocation. Though the beast does not suffocate, it does seem to gasp for breath.
Brom is held aloft, trapped in the beasts jaws. But not for long. Even in its slowed and staggered state it gulps the dwarf down, inflicting 36 damage as Brom disappears from view. (Brom has the grappled condition.)
The other worm seems to regard Barratore for a moment, and then inexplicably burrows away from him, bursting out of the ground near Edson and Emrys. (Uses Burrow to bypass the Difficult Terrain, and Withdraw to avoid provoking an AOO from Barratore.)

Brom is in the belly of the beast. Or gizzard. Or craw. Anyway, it’s bad and it stinks. He lashes out at the creature from the inside inflicting 11 points of damage. (He is still considered grappled, so makes full round of single handed attacks with light weapon at -2. Here are the rules for being Swallowed Whole. Internal AC is 17, 25 damage to escape) (Oh and sorry for calling Brom a dwarf, though this is considered a compliment in most places.)
Velarin sees Brom disappear, and casts an empowered Fireball on the beast. It roars in pain as the fire sears its flesh. Of course, Tishe, Barratore, Brom and Emrys do not hear this roar - but I suppose Brom would feel it.
Perception 10 for anyone Highlight to display spoiler: { The fire seems to have no effect on the red weeds, but you can see that it scorched the earth below them.}.
Tishe stands and unleashes a lightning bolt at the nearest worm. Once again the beast roars as lightning dances and burns its hide. And with a great *THUD* it lays on the ground unmoving. Well, unmoving except for a Brom shaped lump that is still thrashing around inside. Tishe can see that the light emanating from the crystal, though still in rainbow hues, is now tinged with red.
Edson sees a giant worm spring out of the ground near him and he tumbles away, yelling for Emrys to do so as well! Even though the brave rogue tries to avoid the creature, still it gets an attack as he flees (Edson’s roll did not exceed the creatures CMD). It bites the rogue for 43 damage, lifting him into the air as he is caught in the creatures jaws! (Looks like Edson already had 6 damage, so I added that in below.)
Emrys casts Antilife Shell, hoping to hedge out the worm. And then as a back up, he makes sure he’s covered in spikes. (Please remind me how does this as a free action?)
Though the worm containing Brom is still, the barbarian still takes 8 points of acid damage.
The worm that holds Edson swallows the rogue with a gulp, inflicting 28 more damage in the process! Edson disappears from view. The worm’s tail stinger flashes at Emrys, but is blocked by an invisible barrier.

Who can survive, other than Brom, the belly of this beast. Daemon slithers onto the ground and sways with the dark forces seemingly focused on him. Then suddenly, Emrys collapses lifelessly to the ground ... and Daemon's eyes open anew! The viper stares down the great worm and lets loose a wicked hiss!

Tishe hovers up and a little away from the crystal. As she does so, she can feel the sound vibrations from the crystal as she moves, and they seem to subside as she rises into the air. She shouts that the crystal is trying to protect itself, and launches a Lightning Bolt into the thing. The crystal seems to swallow it like it wasn’t there, and the light coming from it still has a slightly reddish cast to the rainbow hues emanating from it.
Barratore moves over towards last remaining worm. With the difficult terrain in the crater his movement is a bit hampered so he only moves half speed. Still, this puts him in striking distance of the worm. Even with the worm's greater strike range the worm does not make an attack of opportunity against Barratore. Odd.
Brom cuts himself free from the dead worm, and gasps at the fresh air as he emerges covered in gore. He actually looks pretty terrifying right now.
Velarin debates his options. He descends a bit and casts a Disintegrate spell on the crystal. It seems to have no effect. None. Very odd.
Edson does what he can to attack the beast from inside. He draws his kukri and slashes, and then heroically slashed again! He hits twice (AC from the inside is only 17) for 2 and 3 damage.
Emrys casts Magic Jar, and with the help of his animal companion, he is able to target the worm. In doing so, Emrys body collapses on the ground. Even in this new creature, Emrys cannot act again this round, though he strives to not crush the rogue inside him.
As a result, Edson takes 8 more acid damage, but not the crushing damage he would otherwise suffer.
For Emrys:Highlight to display spoiler: { Once inside the creature, Emrys mind reels as his senses are assaulted by a form of madness! He surveys the scene before him, towering over his former friends, seeing everything in shades of red. All he wants to do is kill, kill anything, kill everything! They must die! But not Barratore. No. He is like you - a kindred spirit of destruction, a fellow stranger in a strange land! Who then? Ahhhh, that viper and the body by it, they should die. But they are protected in some sort of shield. There is that mage in the air. Maybe he will come closer. Come closer. The others - are they kindred spirits as well? It’s hard to tell yet. We’ll handle this like a confusion spell for this round. I’ll let you roll the effect:
01–25% - Act normally and vomit out Edson. 26–50% - Do nothing but froth at the mouth and thrash about, dealing only 8 points of acid damage to Edson. 51–75% - Bite to deal 4d8 + 14 points of damage to self, tearing a hole large enough for Edson to fall out. 76–100% - Deal the usual 2d8+12 crushing damage plus 8 acid damage to Edson. Then as an attack, slam both a bite attack and tail attack against the Antilife Shield (to no effect of course.)
I know it is Emrys’ soul in the creature, but the brain he is using is infected by a madness new to Emrys. Next round he will get a will save to try to gain more control.}
As Barratore approaches the worm it pays him no mind as it twitches and shudders..

Tishe and Velarin look at the crystal. They know crystals can have strange powers, and sometime act as receptacles for power or souls. Perhaps this one is powered by magic. Perhaps it absorbs or stores magic. Perhaps it is a gateway and the magic is passing through it.
They decide against throwing more spells at the crystal, and instead focus on the worm. Tishe casts a magic missile at the great worm for 9 damage. Velarin drops a bit closer to the ground and unleashes an empowered lightning bolt, though the worms seems to twist a bit and avoid some of the damage, suffering 32 points of damage.

Barratore moves to Edson, calling forth a potion of healing from his Haversack as he does so. He would simply have to hope the worm continued being more caught up in whatever it is that it is caught up in so he could get the potion into the rogue.

Tishe can feel the sickness afflicting her. She unleashes a Magic Missle at the worm, and she can see it writhe in response to the attack.
Velarin also casts a Magic Missle at the worm. Again, it shudders in response.
Brom decides that magic may not affect the crystal, but his sword certainly will. He flies over to the crystal and lands. Even deaf as he is, when he lands he can feel the discordant sound from the crystal resume.
For Emrys - Highlight to display spoiler: { Emrys manages to gain some measure of self control, but he knows his control is tenuous. Again, pain fills his mind when the sister Tishe sends missiles into his flesh, as does that horrible Velarin. Why Tishe? The brother Barratore finally seems to understand, and moves to the creature he just released. Yes, Barratore will kill the thing. Kill. I must kill. And yet...why, why are we laying down, why? Why submit. This is wrong. THIS IS WRONG. I MUST KILL.
Emrys lays his great worm body down, hoping Barratore will end this creature he is trapped within. He must again make a DC 32 Will Save to act normally, though acting normally means Emrys will be unable to use any Charisma or Intelligence-based skills or any ability that requires patience or concentration. He cannot cast spells, nor end spells - he cannot even concentrate enough to return to Daemon.
If Emrys fails the save, he is confused, and must roll a d100: 01–25% - Act normally as above. 26–50% - Do nothing but froth at the mouth and thrash about. 51–75% - Bite to deal 4d8 + 14 points of damage to self. 76–100% - Tries to attack Emrys body and his serpent, slamming both a bite attack and tail attack against the Antilife Shield (to no effect of course.)}
The worm lays down, in some weird act of submission. It also shudders, a shudder that ripples along its great body. It remains still, if only for a moment.
Barratore move alongside the worm as it lays itself at his feet. He moves to Edson’s prone body, cradling the little limp form in his huge hands as he prepares to administer a potion to the poor rogue. But Barratore can tell that his potion would likely do little good now.
Edson - yeah, sorry dude. Looks like you’re dead. For now.

Emrys, trapped within the worm’s body and gripped in it’s madness, roars in fury. The worm rears back and then slams its mouth down on the prone Emrys and his serpent. A couple of teeth break off as it smashes against the Antilife Shell. Again, it attack with its tail, and again it is blocked.
Tishe sees Brom heading for the crystal, and tries to warn him away. But her cries fall on deaf ears. She casts a silenced Magic Missile at the worm. Blood spouts where the force missiles bite into its flesh.
Brom can feel the vibrations from the crystal. Brom strikes a mighty blow on the crystal. As shards fly from the thing, he is violently thrown back 20’ by some unseen force, sustaining 16 points of sonic damage. Brom lies prone in the weeds wondering what hit him.
Velarin flies in the air above Brom. He can feel the shock wave from effect that hit Brom. He decides to pull out a healing potion and drink it. (Not a big issue right now, but in the future hovering while flying requires a successful Fly check.)
Barratore, infuriated by the seeming death of Edson, plunges his sword into the worm. The blow nearly tears the worm in half, and Barratore is sprayed with gore from the thing. The worm shudders for a moment, and the lands with a mighty *WHUMP* as it falls to the ground.
Almost instantly, Emrys finds himself back in his Daemon. His mind reels as he is jarringly released from the madness that gripped the worm.

Feeling the effects of some illness, Tishe lands at the edge of the red weeds. She too waves Brom over.
Emrys’ mind reels as he adjusts back to being in his body while he laments the death of Edson. He dismisses the deafness effect, ends the Antilife Shell, and removes the disease that was affecting Barratore.

Now that all of you can hear, you notice that the crystal still gives off a hum of discordant music and a rainbow of colors, though each hue seems to have a slight reddish tinge to it.
Velarin worries that the break in fighting is temporary. He casts a Dispel Magic at the crystal. It seems to have no effect. He tells the others he is worried that if any more infected animals show up, the party may not have the firepower to defeat them. He asks Emrys if he learned anything from the creature while he was in it.
For Emrys Highlight to display spoiler: { Emrys recalls rage and anger. He recalls that none of the enraged worms attacked each other, and the worm he was in felt a kinship with Tishe and Barratore. He never felt a sense of kinship or protection or anything else regarding the crystal or the red weeds.}
For anyone - Spellcraft DC 25: Highlight to display spoiler: { The way this things seems to absorb or ignore magic seems to be reminds you of stories you’ve heard about very powerful items or perhaps artifacts.}
Tishe, still feeling not quite right, suggests attacking the thing at a distance. Emrys hollers for her to come near him to cure her illness. Assuming she does, he removes her sickness as well.
Brom says, “What now?”
Barratore is grateful for Emrys’ ministrations. He looks at the red weeds and grasses, interested in their swaying pattern, even though they sway without any wind.
Edson looks around him. His body, the others, the land and the plants - they’re growing misty and insubstantial. At the same time, he can see reddish threads running here and there, pulsing with power, tempting him to relax, to follow the lines. He feels really tired.
The red weeds and grasses around the crystal seem to swirl and stretch toward it, and the hum of music from the crystal increases in tempo and volume as this happens. As the plants push against it, the marvel of colors in the crystal are polluted into glowing shades of blood red, and the light from the crystal begins to pulsate. It’s almost as if the crystal finally succumbs to the grasses. The crystal starts to ever so slowly fade to black before instantly returning to a bright, bloody red sending waves of light outwards. You can all feel a mild push of energy with each pulse.
And then… silence. Everything is quiet and still. The red light glows but does not pulse. Even the red weeds no longer move. It’s as if time has stopped for everything except the party. Next to the crystal a vortex of magical and wondrous colors - colors that reflect the hues that emanated from the crystal only moments ago. Other than the party it is the only thing that is still moving. Everything else looks to be under some sort of time stop.
The party hears a soft, echoey voice come from the colorful vortex “Good-d-d. The Keepers-s-s of the Val-l-le. I’ve found-d-d you-u-u. Quickly-y-y. Ther-r-re isn’t-t-t much tim-m-me. Step-p-p into-o-o the portal-l-l”.

Before the time stops, Emrys explains what it was like inhabiting the worm while experience the full extent of the disease. Once making the transition, he immediately was filled with anger and rage ... he saw everything in a shade of red! The Worm felt a kinship with Barratore and Tishe, since they too were infected. He didn't wish to attack them. However he felt no kinship or sense of protection with the crystal or the red grass.
Upon observing the Crystal, (Spellcraft check: 44), he says, "Very possibly this crystal is some sort of Artifact ... an object of power far greater than normal wondrous items of magic. Maybe I can recall if I have ever heard of such an artifact."
Once time has stopped and the echoey voice from beyond had invited them to enter the portal ... Emrys respectfully answers back, "Who is it that beckons us?"

Conserving what is left of his magic, Emrys also casts a few Cure spells. His more powerful ones have already been exhausted.

Brom takes the potion from Barratore and downs it. "Ya, okay." He says to his large friend. "Thanks." I'm assuming CSW potion. It heals Brom for 22 points.
The portal opens and Brom says "Looks like we got more action." Brom will follow the others lead regarding the portal.

Tishe’ steps around Barratorre so Emrys can heal her, and breathes a sigh of relief as the madness effects the BloodWitch describes no longer possesses her.
Tishe’ notices the colors. “It’s like the rainbow colors and blood color are fighting, and the rainbow is losing. The rainbow is also the color of the portal. I think we should go through.”
She looks and worried about the elven rogue. “But what about Edson? Emrys, can’t you Breath of Life him or something?”

Responding to Tishe's request to use his Bloodwitch Life Touch ability, Emrys says, "For that to work, the Life Touch would have needed to applied mere moments after death (1 round). By the time I had returned to my body, Edson had been dead for too long. I failed him a multitude of ways, I'm sad to say."

"Yes Emrys! An artifact. It would have to be very powerful to do what it did, and it defended itself as well. How many of these things fell from the sky? Hundreds? And what happens following such occurrences as things falling from the sky and other such calamities? The Wold's Heroes go to check on the issue and make sure all is well."
As V finishes his thoughts the portal opens. "Interesting. I would surmise that something....maybe something good,...maybe something bad. is about to occur. What if all the other powerful groups in the Wold are now seeing the same thing that we are? They then have the choice to walk through, or stand pat. Either something is trying to get help, or something is trying to get rid of all the Wolds defenders in a single fell move."
V calls forth a potion of CSW from his haversack and hands it to Brom. "Since we likely can't not go through. Drink this. I'm low on spells, so if anyone is going to have an impact in what may come, it will likely not be me, and I will join Edson. Whether it be a trap or a call for aid, the Wold needs us to respond."
V takes a few seconds to let Brom drink the potion, then cast stoneskin upon Barratore(DR 10 until 130 damage absorbed ends spell), and barring objections, steps through the portal.

Seeing both Velarin and Barratore disappear into the portal, he looks back at Edson's lifeless and lonely body. "Let's not forget Edson. Brom, could you pick him up? I lack the spell power to reanimate his remains."
Emrys sighs and then goes through the portal.

Edson watches the others head into the portal. He sees Emrys call for his body to be brought through. He doubts it'll matter, but ge heads through the portal too, when his body does.
DM Mark - "What now?" Thursday March 1st, 2018 1:10:09 AM
Emrys casts a couple of curative spells on Brom. He also shares what he learned from inhabiting the worm, and what he suspects about the crystal. Velarin agrees with Emrys suspicions, and adds his thoughts about what’s going on. On hearing Emrys describe the probable effects of the disease, Tishe is thankful that Emrys cured her. She suggests going through the portal.
Brom drinks the proffered potion, and thanks Emrys for the healing.
Velarin hands Brom yet another potion and casts Stoneskin on Barratore. (I didn’t see any granite and diamond dust on his character sheet - maybe you just used the last of it with this spell.)
Braving the unknown, Velarin steps through the portal, followed by the others. Brom scoops up Edson’s body just before stepping through himself. As Edson’s spirit is dragged along, it also feels like this is where he was headed to anyway. Or at least nearby. For rest.
As each of you step into the rainbow hued vortex, you all see a final swirl of distorted colors of red, blue, purple, yellow and greens, everything goes black.
And then for everyone, the black gives way to grey, and then a blue sky. No wait, it’s more of a lavender sky. Nope, now it’s more of an aqua color. As you look around, you are all a bit startled to find that you are flying. If you try to control the flying, you find that you are inexorably drawn forward as a group. Brom keeps a tight grip on the dead rogue’s body.
You fly as if you were in a dream. Below you is an ever changing landscape. You see misty dim hills, and valleys between them that sparkle with light. You move past a beautiful ancient city, with amazing towers impossibly delicate and high, and the people that look like ants. In another vale there are herds of giant, thundering lizards as big as houses. In another, you see fields of poppies and a green city in the distance. At one point, a group of fairies flies up to you and laughs before they flit away. There is an area that looks like a compact, tiny ocean with large rough waves and surrounded by a rocky shore line. Then you see a valley where lightning ricochets across here and there - no wait, those seem to be electrical creatures moving at lightning speed. It’s hard for our mind to grasp this chaotic landscape as you move quickly past.
You’re definitely in the Cinnamon Valley anymore.
Finally, you begin to slow and descend into a wide valley with a flat floor, covered in tall grasses. Near the center of the valley you see a lodge, like a half cylinder on its side, woven of grasses over massive rib-bones of ancient monsters long dead. Grass mats cover the top of the lodge, except where holes allow cookfire smoke to escape. The magic sets you down outside this lodge.
Inside, you can make out a small figure, smaller even than a gnome, with dark skin and white hair and odd, rough clothing. He is sitting cross legged before a firepit. “Ahh. These heroes have come. Welcome, come in, come in. We have important matters to discuss. Very important matters.” As he says this, he gestures in some kind of sign language. Then he holds his hand out, palm up as if making a stop sign, “I am Mahyawu. Don’t just stand there. Come in.”
Tishe' (SteveK). AC 22 / T22/ F20 CMD19. HP 114/114. Thursday March 1st, 2018 7:00:41 AM
Tishe’ is fearful of entering the portal when the heroes are so depleted; few spells left and one of the Keepers are dead, and Brom and Barratorre seem... cheerful?.... in just stepping into the unknown. Even the two elves aren’t as cautious as most members of their race! But what Velarin says strikes a chord. Even if all the heroes of the Wold are pulled away in a trap, they have proven that they can’t defend the Wold against this menace alone. And here is a momentary opportunity to find allies.
Once through and landing, Tishe’ is feeling more at home. “That structure reminds me of the homes I have seen of...”. She gasps, and looks at the small humanoid in wonder and awe. “Manfri,” she breathes and unconsciously responds in the same stop motion before obeying and walking into the shelter.
...... (No spells active; assuming that they didn’t stay up going to another plane)

V finds himself magically pulled along, and goes with the flow. answers likely wait at the end, one way or another. V takes the opportunity to drink two more CMW potions in case things are unpleasant upon the other end of this journey(healed 27). "Interesting....Some of the features of this place do seem quite lovely. I'm not saying I would want to build a summer home here..."
Upon arrival at the home of the odd little man, V finds himself a bit speechless, and follows Tishe' into the home, and waits for the beginning of the important matters to be discussed.

The ride isn't what he had expected. Some things looked familiar, others didn't. He felt an odd sense of peace along the way. This was the first moment he wasn't fighting for his life since he woke up this day. He suddenly begins to feel the weight of all that motion and spellcasting at once. He is relieved that Tishe knows this Manfri gentleman ... maybe finally a moment of peace to catch his breath ... for he has been rattled down to his very soul ... literally. The invitation is accepted graciously as he enters the odd-looking man's wicker-woven home.
"Thank you, you found us just in time."
He can't wait to finally sit down. His limbs feel that much heavier as soon as they landed.

"I'd say two." He says back to Barratore.
Picking up Edson, he say "Don't worry, little buddy, you won't be gone fer long."
As they pass through the gate and arrive high above the ground, Brom can't help but shout out to Barratore "Ya think we're gonna find a somethin' worthy of our skills?"
On the ground, Brom follows the lead of the others.
