The heroes struggle to help Wil perform the ceremony, each in their own way.

Some are worried about the AM Field (10 ft radius from the edge of the gem) and the delay poison ... but the poison is magical too! So that's OK!
The cumulative efforts of the team (11+23+21+19+22+22 = 118) has a significant effect on the bloodweed -- maybe you are a sixth or a tenth of the way there.
The bloodgrass leaves whip and cut at you Everybody please take 4 hp of bleed damage. You will take that damage again every round until you are magically cured (or make the right heal skill check). Of course, magical curing does not work in the AM Field ...
In addition, some kind of negative energy courses through the AM Field and hurts you all for 16 hp negative energy damage.
Do you keep on performing the ceremony or do you step back for healing? Or something else?

Dušan stagers to a knee as he feels his life force drain from his body. He has no choice but to retreat. Another assault like that and he would be no help. He does what he can for Toston without magic and then drags himself 10 feet away from the anti-magic field. At least if he can stand he can still heal others.

Angry at herself and that stupid crystal, she slides in and grabs at the crystal, attempting to get a grip on it's smooth, pulsating surface. She grits her teeth and waits for the pain that is sure to come. (Con 14)

Ethani nods her approval at Gaffer's actions, knowing that it takes many hands to keep the party whole and healthy.
[OOC: Friends, we are going round by found here. Using the Heal skill to stop bleeding is a standard action that requires a DC15. Helping with the ceremony is a full round action.
Remember that there is an Antimagic Field surrounding the crystal. People performing the ceremony are in the field. You can take a five ft step out of the field if you want to cast, a spell or use an item, etc, but the magic will not affect anyone still in the field. To magically cure a friend, you and the friend both have to step back out of the field. You can use the heal skill in the AM Field.]

This round, instead of attacking all of you collectively, the grasses bind together, forming knots and twists! The negative energy from the crystal infuses the plant creature, animating it. The knots and strands rise into a vaguely humanoid shape with a large size column for legs and body, and two vines that reach out and smack ... once at Lornak, once at Wil.
Vs Wil ... hits AC27 for 12 damage! If your DM is up to date, that drops Wil, putting him at death's door with -4 hit points! That's -8 with this round's BLEED damage! The bloodgrass plant lets him drop.
Vs Lornak ... hits AC22, a hit, the DM believes, for 13 damage, and it tries to grab / grapple Lornak! It's roll of 28 beats Lornak's CMD, so Lornak is grappled!
Uh-oh! Both performers are out! Keep in mind that unless SOMEONE performs, all other efforts are ignored!

Within the cone of silence Lornak only hears his own voice as he intones the incantations from the Manfri book. He is unaware of the approaching bloodweed man and is taken completely off guard as he is hit from behind. His body lurches forward against the dias and his chest and abdomen impact hard against the stone. The artifact falls from his open hands and lands upon open Manfri book. He grips the stone and braces himself. To his right Wil falls.
Before he can do anything he feels tentacled arms wrap around his torso and arms pinning them at the elbow. On instinct he lifts his legs up into his chest, plants his feet upon the stone in front of him and uses his leg strength to push his assailant back and away from the dias hoping to get free of its grip. (Standard Action CMB to break a grapple d20=23 or Escape Artist d20=18, I don't know which one applies)

Note that with another five ft step, next round Hmerrin can step out of the AM Field if he wants his magic to function.
Dušan casts CLW on himself, ending the bleeding -- PLEASE NOTE THAT CLW curing is capped at 1d8+5. Please recalculate. Then Dušan draws a potion and takes a five ft step toward Wil.
Gaffer pulls Wil out of the AM Field.
Ethani follows out of the AM Field and channels 14 hp positive energy. That stops the bleeding for Gaffer and Wil! And brings Wil back to consciousness.

Lornak's legs extend against the dais pushing himself out of the bloodweed man's grasp. The effort squeezes more of his lifesblood out of the gashes in his legs. (-4 bleed dmg) Sweat and blood spatter the grasses underneath him as he lands on his back and rolls onto his feet.
He is alarmed by the speed of the bloodweed man as it lashes out at Hmerrin and Toston.
Without any time lost he moves back in to continue the ceremony fore he sees no sight of Wil. (Move action, 5-foot step)
Desperately, he cradles the artifact in his shaking hands and continues at the next phrase in the Manfri book. He is confident Hmerrin and Toston will trash the bloodweed man.

She feels like she's losing her resolve, mind torn between helping with the grass or holding onto the crystal. Gaffer casts a spell and cures Wil for 25. He thinks that magic to diminish plant growth might well have SOME effect on the bloodgrass creature.

Dušan casts Cure Serious Wounds for 28 hp.
Wilford summons a spiritual weapon that attacks the plant monster and misses. That's his standard action for the round. Can't also ready an attack, sorry.

Lornak does not hear what is going on behind him so much as feel a scuffle taking place while he is inside the silence spell Ethani put on the crystal. He hopes she remembers to maintain it or the whole endeavor may be lost. He does his best to assess what is happening around him but the ritual is taking too much of his concentration. He feels the stickiness from the smear of blood on his legs. Doing his best to ignore it he hopes against hope that he does not pass out before the ritual is finished. (-4 bleed dmg)

Gaffer casts Diminish Plants, which immediately shrinks the bloodgrass in the area and the plant monster, reducing it to half its former size.
Wil does what he can in combat, but is unlucky this round.
Ethani cures Wil and then returns tot he AM Field, getting ready to help with the ceremony next round, perhaps?

Positioning herself nearby Lornak so that she can drag him out to heal him if needed, Ethani continues her mental assault on the weed monster thingy. (Will =24). She wishes that Lornak can hear her...and then considers that they are indeed inside an Anti Magic field, so perhaps he can!
Ethani tests her voice out. "Lornak, my love, it is time for someone else to perform the ritual. Allow me to heal you. Come with me and let me tend to your wounds so you can fight more efficiently." If for some reason, the silence spell is still in effect, Ethani mims her intent to Lornak, being ever so effective with body language.
OOC: To those that are outside of the Anti Magic field, you should still be under the Bull's Strength spell that Ethani cast just prior to entering being sucked back into this plane. It's duration is 7 minutes, so should have 6 minutes once they entered this plane. That +4 to strength would probably come in handy right about now. ;) I believe I cast it on all the fighters. Cough...cough...Asteria...Cough. :P

The combined efforts work at last! The crystal breaks into shards. The effect on the bloodweed and the monster is immediate. Starting where the crystals fell, the tall red grasses curl back on themselves before the blacken and crumble into dust. The effect radiates outward quickly, and soon the entire area is back to normal.
All is quiet.

Ethani blinks in disbelief as the monster dies and grass begins to die off. Grabbing Lornak up in a hug she kisses him passionately. "We've done it!" she says...or at least she *would* say that if she wasn't inside the sphere of her own silence spell.
Dragging Lornak out of the area, she smiles. "I can't believe we did it!" Then she winces as she sees the condition of the party. Truly it had been a steep cost for everyone!
Taking another careful look around, Ethani examines the party's wounds and begins using her Cure Light Wounds wand bring the party back to full health. As she does so, she makes a mental note that she needs to craft a more potent wand once they get back to the house.
After everyone is brought back to stable condition, Ethani turns her attention to Asteria's poisoned condition. "Let's see what we can do about that poison..." Unfurling a bag of herbs, Ethani gives the matter serious consideration and then pulls out several items and hands them to the barbarian. "Chew on these. Hopefully this will neutralize the poison. If not, we can take care of it once we get home." (Heal -35 vs the ant poison.)

Hmerrin looks around for a stunned second, then looks at the sky at lets out a primal scream of triumph.
"YEAH, BABY!!! THAT is how you do it!" The lad trots over and gives a crystal shard a swift kick. Watching it fly trough the air he calls out, "put that in your pipe, and smoke it."
And then a thought occurs, and Hmerrin inspects himself for telltale signs of that infectious rash he's been carrying these last few days.

Lonak is blindsided by Ethani's enthusiastic hug and kiss. After she energetically lets go his legs give out beneath him and he stumbles and falls onto his backside. He winces as dust blows up into his face and eyes. He does not hear or see her words.
Before he can move he feels her hands slip under his arms and he gets dragged backwards. His legs shift and flail as he tries to help push himself away from the shattered dais. His ears register sounds as through molasses and eventually clears and when he hears her clearly. "We did?" He responds sluggishly. "Grand..." Lornak slowly closes his eyes.
Leaning back Lornak allows Ethani to tend his wounds. He basks in the familiar warmth and silence.

Asteria lets out a victorious cry as she feels the crystal crumble in her palms. Falling back into a seated position, she scoots out of the silent zone and goes about completely ruining the peaceful silence with loud cheering and hollering. "TAKE THAT YOU ROCK!!!"
Asteria allows herself to be fussed over by the others, but she makes sure to tease Ethani with a grimace at the herbs. She sticks her tongue out. "Who are you, mom?"

As you rejoice, discovering that all traces of the bloodgrass contamination are gone, you do see something off.
Three shards from the shattered gem are glowing! Odd translucent figures, as visions, are floating above each shard.
The first figure is an aged half-elf dressed in leather, wearing a wreath of oak leaves. "Hail champions!" she declares. "You have destroyed a great evil."

The second figure comes into focus as a human male dressed in the white robes such as desert dwellers wear. He stands tall on a pair of wooden stilts.
Knowledge, Geography 15, Highlight to display spoiler: {He's most likely a grasswalker, a resident of the Sargrass.}
"Indeed, you have fought bravely to save your homelands." He pauses to glare sideways at the half-elf. "Now hopefully you can help save mine as well."
The third figure forms into the mutated remains of one of the noble races. It was once likely human, but it's hard to tell. He has red skin and dragonfly wings. "Nonsense!" he roars. "Do you interlopers realize what you've done?"
The three speak more softly. "We are of the Plains," says the half-elf. "We seek to regain the Sargrass Plains, as they were." says the guy on stilts. "As they were long ago," says the half-elf. "As they were just before they were destroyed," says Stilts, angrily. "Nothing can be as it was -- everything gets old, everything changes. We just want them back," says the mutant.
Gaffer stumbles over his words as the three figures appear. The words of the mutated one turning their jubilant celebrations tense in almost an instant. He looks uncertainly to his companions, tugging nervously at his armor.
"Wh, errr, what have we done?"

Lornak's eyes flash open with shock as the shouts of triumph surround him. He quickly leans up on his elbows to see what is the matter. He finds himself grinning. It does feel great to have won the day.
When the healing administered to him is finished he leans up on to his elbow, reaches up with a hand behind her neck and answers Ethani's kiss with one of his own. He gets to his feet. He heartily shakes hands. He takes in the consequences of the ritual in the surrounding plain.
To Hmerrin; "Be gentle with those Kid, they might be worth something on this plane." He says with a twinkle in his eye. A spark that dims as soon as three of the crystals start to glow. "...Oh, now what...?"
He clearly sees and hears the three people that manifest before him but is completely dumbfounded as to who they are.
"You want the Sargrass? Lornak says looking at the rips and tears throughout his clothing. "You can have it..."

Asteria is startled by the sudden appearance of the figures, and lets out a low growl in their direction. Baring her teeth at the last two, she makes sure to put off a hostile persona. The tired barbarian is NOT looking for another scuffle, especially with how these last ones have been going. She does, however, try to give a not scary smile towards the first apparition, the only one out of the bunch that she truly likes. She enjoys the praise.
"Okay but honestly if you wanted to come out and scold us, you should have done it BEFORE we did whatever you're so pissed about. So if we're thinking about it, which isn't exactly my strong suit, you guys are actually to blame." She sticks her tongue out in a childish manner.

She nods at Toston. "Yes, definitely a druid..."
Looking at the three crystals, Ethani is just as confused as the others. "We would love to help, but as my companions have stated, We need to know if you wish us to restore the Saragrass Plains here or in the other plane? What would we need to do to assist you? And if we are able to help restore the Plains, would that impact another place on the Wold? We want to help, but not at the cost of another people."

Gaffer asks the mutant to explain what the party has done. Wil also asks for clarification. "Done?!" says the mutant, "Done? You've ended a great agent for evolution and improvement, that's all. Yes, the bloodgrass was virulent, but that virulence was fading. In a short while, it would have simply been a helper to grant every creature in the Wold super powers! All lost now!" He seems bitterly disappointed. Is that a tear on his cheek?
Lornak's flip remark shows no love of the Sargrass Plains. All three figures frown at him.
Dušan asks what the party can do about the remnants of the Plains that are in the Vales of Twilight. The half-elf nods. "Yes, you can complete the ceremony and bring the Plains back to the Wold, as they were in the past."
Those who performed the ceremony, especially Lornak, see what she is talking about. Yes, the ceremony in the Manfri book has one part still left undone. That last part could do ... something?
Hmerrin gets right to it. "What do you want?" he growls. The guy on stilts answers. We three represent the Sargrass Plains. We disagree on much, but we all love our land and we want it back in the Wold. Will you help us bring it back?"
The half-elf says, "But if you favor my faction, it may come back better than ever, RESTORED to its meadows and forests of ages long ago." The mutant says, "Or favor me and it will EVOLVE into something newer and better!" The stilts guy says, "Or favor me and PRESERVE it as the arid, grassy beauty that made it unique in the Wold."
All three speak together: "At least help us bring it back!"
Asteria accuses all three of being the problem, and is a little more than somewhat rude. The half-elf druid sighs. "Maybe there is an element of truth in that, child, but we could not manifest while the crystal was intact."
Toston has questions for each figure. The half-elf says, "In ages past, the Sargrass was a magical place of trees and meadows and life. My faction seeks to restore it to that state. We are Restorationists." The mutant says, "We did not create the bloodgrass, but we saw that it could itself have been adapted as a force of good and change. We are Evolutionists." The stilts guy says, "Yes, before the Sargrass was recently destroyed, it was a place of harsh beauty that was found no where else in the Wold. We want to preserve that, so we are Preservationists."
Ethani, ever thinking of others, asks if the reborn Sargrass would spread to other parts of the Wold. All three reassure her that no, now that the crystal here and all other crystals scattered here and there, are destroyed, that threat is over. "To bring the Sargrass back now would be an act of mercy," says the druid half-elf. "Not a threat."
The figures have now asked you two things.
For the whole party: Will you finish the ceremony to restore the Sargrass to the Wold?
For each individually: Will you personally support one faction over the other two?

He looks to group. "However. An opportunity to evolve and change might be apt." He looks at Ethani. "Even Dirt City will never be the same after the events of the last week." He thinks its been roughly a week but is not sure with the lost time in spent in the planes.
"I will perform the rest of the ritual regardless." His eyes rest upon the apparitions. "Does the motivation have to be an consensus among us for it to be sucessfull?"

Toston says, "I think we should at least finish the ritual as for supporting a faction I honestly do not know. Things do change and the trees were supplanted by grass and now there is a new type of grass. Who are we to say which is correct? Yes the red grass did threaten all like a plague but we are in the process of stopping it. If those who would follow the way of the red grass are willing to coexist with others not as a dominating force but just as another being who are we to judge those who would take that path? Could the trees, old Sargrass and new red grass all exist in different regions of what was once the Sargrass plain? Wouldn't that be the best outcome? Letting all Woldian's decide for themselves which faction to align with or none as long as the three factions can agree to not kill each other and those who seek to avoid their conflict."

Do we have the knowledge we should?" Given the impact this will have on so many, he finds it hard to be comfortable with what is happening.
"All living in harmony sounds idyllic but that is often not the natural way. Discord occurs and factions divide, and who will be responsible for what happens then?" He gazes distrustfully at the mutated visitor, "I have seen what the grass did to the animals around it, what you call evolution, I call manipulation. Can you control these changes? or will they be forced upon those nearby? and what would you plan for those who have evolved? I do not trust where that kind of thinking leads."

"Bringing back your land is fine, but I'm going for the side with trees," he announces, with all the righteous conviction a seventeen year old can muster.

Wil says, "Let's do this," which your DM counts as a YES vote in favor of doing the ceremony. However, Wil just starts dancing! He's not consulting the instructions. It's not any dance that the manfri instructions suggest. It's just dancing! Very nice dancing. It does not accomplish anything, though, aside from the joy of creating beauty. Toston votes YES for the ceremony but does not pick a faction, although he ponders it much.
Gaffer hesitates. He has misgivings. He has not voted.
Hmerrin votes YES to the ceremony and backs the RESTORATIONISTS!
Asteria and Ethani have yet to weigh in.

Feeling the pressure Hmerrin feels Lornak bends down and picks up the Manfri book. "We never have the time do we?" He asks The Kid rhetorically. "I will back the Preservationists..." Artifact and book in hand he turns.
"...I am a Ranger, but I would be a dreadful one if I did not allow the Sargrass its rightful place in nature, potential for aggression or not." He walks over to Wil.
"Would that also not satiate Mab?" He asks Dusan. "Let those beyond the Wold balance her wiles if not..." He says eyeing the apparitions. "We can only shepherd the Wold..." He holds up the open book in one hand and gives the artifact to Wil in the other.
"Follow your hearts." He says tot he group regarding faction. He then begins the passage of the Manfri ritual, prompting Wil to finish the final incantation and any that want to join him. (Perform to aid another. d20=23)

"As long as we don't tick off any Fey Monarchy, we might as well finish what we started. Although if we change to much we may risk more. I would like to see plains in their former glory, but I think the prudent thing to do would be to return them as they are. I side with the Preservationists."

Gaffer lets out a long sigh, before saying, "I don't think this is for us to decide, but if our group decision is to go ahead with it, let me know how I can help." He looks at the half-elf, wavering on placing his trust before finishing, "If we are to do it, we should do it properly. Return the land to how it should be, I'd back the restorationists."

The sea elf thinks long and hard about the decision ahead and finally puts her words to voice. "I cannot in good faith condone the return of the red grass."
Running her fingers through her red head, Ethani continues her musing. "I support the return of the Daragrass, but am not sure in what state. I have a friend from a dream that is from the grasses, but I can see that of there was a forest there originally, maybe that's the state it should be returned to.

Asteria stays silent for the longest time, mulling over her options. Eventually, she looks up, excitement evident on her face. "I know I'm in the minority here, but hear me out. Okay, we don't know what it is. And normally it's not good to listen to random ghost people- No offence, Wil. But, like, that's kinda how we got here, and even if it's been sucky, it's been so cool!!! It sounds like the grass can be helpful, and I think we should give it a chance! I'm with dragonfly guy, I wanna see how it evolves. The Wold can't go back to how it was before, it's always changing! I wanna see this thing be so much cooler than it is right now. So, I'm with the Evolutionists."

With most of the group in favor, the ceremony is nigh. But before that, the heroes declare in favor of one faction or another. Well, except for Wil and Toston.
Lornak and Dusan back the Preservationists. The guy on stilts waves a hand, and two Ioun Stones rise from the crystal shards and begin to circle their heads. These are Alertness Ioun Stones worth 10,000 gp each. They grant the Alertness feat.
Gaffer, Ethani, and Hmerrin back the Restorationists. The druid half-elf smiles and waves a hand. From the crystal shards floats three gems of brightness, worth 13,000 gp, with many powers, all clearly understood by their new owners.
Asteria favors the Evolutionists! The figure with the dragonfly wings motions, and a gem floats over to Asteria out of the crystal shards. It is a Periapt of Wound Closure, worth 15,000 gp. It stops bleeding, as from being below 0 hp or from a bleeding wound.
Then the ceremony takes place. Wil's guidance is superb. Soon you feel the effect of the ritual taking hold. You feel weightless as the dimensions shift!

Toston says to Wil, "I don't care if everyone else got shiny new toys for backing one of these new factions I feel that there potentially can be room for all once the Sargrass returns. As far as I'm concerned this isn't our fight so lets bring the plains back and let the factions sort themselves out."

Marvelous!" Dušan congratulates as the Ceremony is finished, "Truly, Well done."
Dušan subtly and not so subtly tries to pose with the Ioun Stone doing it's graceful orbits. He alternates between sagely, heroic and every now and then tries majestic. He's pretty sure the fact that he keeps looking at the Stone ruins any effect the poses would have.

Lornak did not expect any kind of boon for aligning with any of the faction apparitions. His blue eyes twinkle that much more as the dark blue rhomboid floats above his head. He reaches up and grasps the crystal.
Expecting it to heal the sickness within him, Lornak waits for some change in his body that never comes. Just as he goes to ask the ghosts why it has not cured him, the ground beneath his weightless feet shifts with unbelievable speed as he is again whisked from the Wold plane. "Why...?"

Hmerrin inspects the gem briefly, "Shiny. Thanks!" and then pockets it.
The dimensions shift, and he feels it coming.
"And here we go," he mutters.

Ethani smiles gratefully at the gift from the half elf. "Thank you sir! I'm sure it will come in very handy on our quest." Carefully placing the gem in her side pouch, Ethani excuses herself.
Her fist balling up in a fist, the cleric strides toward Asteria and punches her in the shoulder (AC 15), but manages only to bruise her knuckles on the warriors armor. "What is WRONG with you?! We almost lost our lives fighting that stuff and you want to let it loose on the Wold?? You must have been hit one to many times!"
Ethani considers throwing another punch but feels the familiar tug of impending magical travel.

Asteria's eyes light up as she sees the gem, and she delightedly accepts the gift with a grin on her face. Like a child on Yuletide, she immediately places it against her neck and shows off to the others in a teasing manner. "Ha, you guys got a torch and some alert rocks! Clearly, my dragonfly ghost is the best!"
Taking the punch with a chuckle, Asteria ruffles her sister's hair, not disturbed by her assault in the slightest. "Okay, okay. But, we wouldn't be 'letting it loose'! I'm sure we could control it, and it can't be that bad if they want it so badly! Think about how it could help! This can be anything! I wanna take the risk and see what it can become! You guys are just choosing the boring path, I'm taking the high life! Besides, if it's evil, we can just kill it again! Easy peasy."
Before she can defend her actions any further, Asteria feels the pull of the dimension-shifting once again. She curses silently, swearing that she is getting dimension-sick from all of this travel.
