(OOC: I can't just cast see invisible on Kezzem because it has range personal. Pressi uses her last hero point in this turn.)

Pressi grumps as only Murphy seems to change tactics based on her suggestions. "Don't everyone rush on this. Clearly, I meant to waste oxygen."

Understanding that the group won't worry about the next wave until this wave is under control, Pressi switches tactics, trying to change the battlefield.

Dropping her wand, she pulls a sack of flour from her haversack (move action) and, before Kezzem can cast his detect evil, she throws it over the horse at the devil lady's face (standard action). (attack roll vs AC 5 to hit the square, -4 for firing into melee, attack roll 11+1 hits and reveals her).

With heroic effort to stretch (hero point for standard action), Pressi casts deep slumber on the armored bulette facing miss Piggy (after she acts). (10 HD creatures - if AB is higher than that, she instead targets the regular Bulette facing Bliss). (Will Save, DC 20).

If Bliss's Bulette falls asleep, he takes a full round action to perform a coup de gras on it! There is no attack roll needed and no miss chance. His critical bite damage is 24+29 = 53 nonlethal. Also, the monster must make a Fort save vs DC64 or die or maybe become unconscious, as the Kindly DM rules.

If the Bulette is not put to sleep, then Bliss attacks per usual as posted above.

In a stunning display of bad luck, Hobie misses every shot on the bulette.

Bliss savagely slashes the bulette in front of him. The blood loss is too much, and it collapses. It's gigantic chest still moves up and down with its breath.

Succotash claims Pressi's death ward and heals himself. He skillfully attacks the larger bulette attacking him (both attacks hit). Miss Piggy only manages a single shot.

Kezzem detects evil and figures out the location of the devil and moves to attack. He tries to smite the creature, but without being able to see her, can't. Good thing Pressi thought to bring flour. With the devil visible, Kezzem smites her and strikes a painful blow.

OOC: Rules specifically state a paladin can smite a creature "within sight." Paizo rule boards all tend to agree that a paladin has to see an enemy to smite it.

Murphy is intent on making these stone giants take forever to reach the fight. They howl in frustration and look around for anything to throw at that blasted elemental making their lives so hard. The grassland is free of boulders, so they just head forward best they're able. One of the giants gets entangled in the growth right away, but the other is quicker on his feet (giant 1 is entangled). He looks back towards where the incorporeal creatures were, but sees nothing.

Pressi wishes people would listen better. She pulls out a bag of flour and hurls it at the devil before Kezzem can arrive (good thing you specified). The devil is still invisible, but there's a devil-shaped dusting of flour where the devil should be. She tries putting the bulette Miss Piggy is facing to sleep, but it's resisted (Will save 24).

The faceless devil wheels around to face this new threat, seeing how he's much more dangerous to her than a horse. Today's just not her day, though. None of her attacks manages to connect once again.

AB1 tries desperately to take out this surprisingly powerful pig. It just can't, though. Obviously someone has jinxed these monsters.

AB2 squares off vs. Succotash, slashing him once for 17 damage.

A faceless devil is a terrifying creature, but Kezzem is a freakin' paladin. He stabs the devil over and over until she shudders and falls down dead. Kezzem heals himself as he wipes some flour off his armor.

Hobie and the Hobies fly closer to the bulettes and opens fire. Maybe he should get closer, because only his last hit lands home. It's a great stroke of luck that one arrow was all that he needed. The bulette falls, wondering how he managed to get beaten so badly by a pig.

Succotash heals Bliss. Miss Piggy finds her prey already dead.
OOC: Miss Piggy cannot move to AB2 and attack w/o an AoO, so I'm not ruling she tries.

Bliss is thrilled to receive attention, just like a true cat. He slashes once at the bulette.

Murphy stops paying attention and starts bringing in more help.

Pressi heals Rumpus against her better judgement. Harper growls slightly behind her. Her spiders, her panther, and herself all head up towards where the bad guys are grouping.

The last bulette finds himself all alone, but it's determined not to die alone. It chomps down on Succotash, hitting for 24 damage.

The second stone giant rips his legs free from the vines entangling him with sheer strength. Both move ever closer to the party. The grumble back and forth about what they're going to do to these stupid halfings when they get their hands on them. The first giant exits the AoE of the entangle spell. The second giant gets entangled again.

Then, the incorporeal creature makes its apperance. Rather, the incorporeal creatures make their appearance. From directly underneath Murphy, two medium, ghostlike creatures charge at the shape-changed druid. Both pass through Murphy, coating him in a disgusting, grey slime.

The creatures trample Murphy. Murphy can attempt to stop casting and make an AoO at a -4 to hit. Regardless, he takes 2 CON damage. He is also coated in slime and must make two DC 16 reflex saves or be nauseated for one round (total - no stacking). If he makes both saves, he is still staggered for one round. If he is nauseated, he cannot make any standard actions and loses his summoning spell. If he is only staggered, he must still make a DC 22 concentration check or lose his spell.

The creatures end their movement 5' directly above Murphy.

Bliss thinks again about pausing to buff and heal, but there is still a bulette to put down. BUT THEN Sir Kezzem stops by for some more healing! This is great! He purrs a diretigrish purr at his friend.

He attacks.

Bite at +15 fighting defensively ... hits AC28 for 21 nonlethal

[OOC: Sorry, confused by the map. Is AB2 down or AB1? If AB2 is the lone bulette standing, then Bliss has to pounce on it. Same result, but -2 AC and +2 to hit. If BOTH bulettes are down, it looks to me like Bliss can reach Stone Giant 2 with a pounce, maybe?]

The spider swarm crawls towards the stone giant SG2.

Pressi runs towards the rest of the group just in time to see Murphy get covered in slime. Hoping that Murphy can withstand the onslaught, she can think only to help him complete his spell, using guidance to bolster his concentration (+2 to the roll).

Murphy makes both reflex saves (20, 29), and the concentration check at 39 (added on +2 from Pressi's guide). He completes the casting, and summons a medium earth elemental, in such a manner that only its head is above ground.

"Make the ground beneath the stone giants unstable, so they may not stand." he commands the summoned creature in the terran tongue.

It sees the stone giant, makes a simple 5' movement, submerging its head in an earthglide, then digs beneath the giant's left foot, a patch long enough to extend along the whole large foot, and find the ground beneath give way unexpectedly to a depth of ~5 feet. [A bit of creative license? DM Carl, I'll leave it to you as to whether this attempt is successful or not in helping to trip the giant, or a least to rattle it a bit.]

"Hello, ghosts. Thanks for the slime. Let me likewise share something of mine with you." Another bolt from call lightning commences about 15 feet above G2, and runs through it, continuing downward another 15 feet from where it first intersected the top of whatever might be considered its head (damage 20, Ref save for 1/2, DC 25).

Kezzem thanks Pressi for her healing, then moves to heal Bliss (and himself). Rumpus moves forward, but assumes a defensive posture.

Hobie can't hit the ghosts, so he tries to get the giant's attention. He fires a single arrow into the giant.

Succotash and Miss Piggy flank the last bulette. Succotash hits twice, but Piggy's luck has run out and she can't connect.

Pressi sends good wishes Murphy's way. The spiders start heading towards the giants.

Bliss pounces on the remaining bulette, sinking his fangs into it.

Murphy is able to avoid the worst of the slime, but is still staggered. He's able to save his spell & sends an earth elemental to trip the incoming giant. The giant avoids the trip attempt (21 vs CMD 30), and slams his foot down on the sneaky elemental for 15 damage (AoO from trip attempt). Murphy sends a lightning bolt through one of the spirits, who takes the full brunt of the blast (Reflex save 13 - fail).

The last bulette knows he's not getting out alive, but wants to take this pig with him. He fails, of course, because that's just how this combat has been going.

The second giant is finally, finally in a position to start hurting these blasted adventurers. It charges full speed towards Miss Piggy, swinging a massive stone greatclub that comes crushing down on her (Hit AC 30 for 22 damage).

Murphy's earth elemental gets an AoO on the charging giant.

The other giant once again rips its legs free from Murphy's entanglement spell and plods forward some before getting stuck again.

Both spirits try attacking Murphy, but the druid is too quick for both of them. (Hit touch AC 15 and 18. You don't have your touch AC listed in your header, but I'm guessing it's not 13 points lower than your base AC.)

Bliss charges Stone Giant 2, using acrobatics to pounce and tumble into range without provoking AoOs from the long-armed opponent.

Acrobatics to leap over any dead bodies (not sure this check is needed, but if so, here you go) (and at +12 for move 60): 44

Acrobatics to tumble into melee range: 44

Bite nips at +21 (same) hits AC29 for 29 nonlethal damage.

Summoned medium earth elemental
The earth elemental makes an AoO vs the moving stone giant #2. An attack vs AC15 likely misses. The elemental earthglides beneath the ground, and, when a few feet below the giant's rear foot, excavates the earth in an area. The earth creature does so in a manner that the head and body of the digger are not exposed (which is what I was presupposing in his earlier attack, thus I was surprised that the giant was able to find his head to strike at). Atk vs AC27 - or lose footing.

Murphy says, "Time for a spin," and forms a 50' tall whirlwind which goes bouncing about. It strikes both F1 and F2, as the druid has the top of the whirlwind at 58', and the bottom at 8' above the ground. The top has a diameter of 25', the bottom of 5'. As they are incorporeal, the wind may not have any particular effect upon them. In case it does, F1 must make a Reflex save DC 23 or suffer the equivalent of slam damage of 14hp. [Note that via powerful shape from Murphy's cloak, "treat your size as one category larger for the purpose of calculating CMB, CMD, carrying capacity, and any size-based special attacks you use or that are used against you." Thus treat Murphy as huge (thus 50' whirlwind, and attendant Reflex save of 23) for this attack.]

The stone giant is also struck by the whirlwind, and must make a Reflex save vs DC23, or take 19 hp damage. If he fails his save, he needs to make a second, identical save or be caught up in the vortex.

Should they be caught up in the whirlwind, they may be subject, for F1, to AC 28 with 14hp damage, F2 (rolled 1) is a miss. The stone giant as well needs a Reflex save DC23, else be caught up in the vortex, and take 19 hp damage.

If the giant is caught up, then Murphy heads upward into the sky to a height of 105'. If the giants is not captured, then he heads over to SG1, with the bottom at 10', and attempts to batter / capture the entangled giant. If he fails his DC23 Reflex save, he takes 16 hp damage. If he fails his second save, he is caught up. Any entangling vines at 10' height or higher will be macerated and join the whirling winds, adding a bit of greenery to the conical volume of air.

If SG1 is caught up, then Murphy ascends to a height of 50'.

No AoO are possible against Murphy in whirlwind form.

Hobie doesn't like being ignored, evidently. He fires four arrows at the closest stone giant to prove it, killing the thing outright. He saves his last shot for the other giant.

Bliss ducks, rolls, and leaps so incredibly gracefully through the battlefield that it's a real shame his target is dead when he arrives.

Kezzem heals everyone in range and sends Rumpus to (poorly) attack the remaining bulette.

Succotash and Miss Piggy absolutely slaughter the remaining bulette, then move only to find their next target already dead as well.

Pressi's minions join the dogpile on the already dead giant. Her knowledge lore reveals the incorporeal things to be festering spirits.

Murphy's earth elemental finds the giant he's trying to trip up already dead.

(I understand what you were trying to do, but earth glide/burrowing can't make dirt just vanish. If the elemental wants to create an excavation, it has to excavate that dirt to the surface. Doing so reveals both its intent and location.)

The druid forms a whirlwind, which the spirits don't seem too bothered by. With SG2 dead, he heads directly to SG1 which is hit by the whirlwind, but remains rooted to the ground thanks to the entanglement spell (I have the giant +5 to his reflex save due to being entangled & having a strong anchor. Reflex save w/ that bonus was 27).

The remaining stone giant swings its club ineffectively at Murphy (Hit AC 28 and 15 - miss).

The festering spirits zero in on Hobie rather than mess with that whirlwind. Both of their attacks hit Hobie's figments, bringing the total down to 3.

Bliss looks around. He does not think his claws will work against the incorporeal creatures. He does not want to enter the entangled area to fight the giant -- he might get stuck himself.

Bliss decides to end his rage -- which he thinks of as a sort of combat focus, of course. He takes a move action to get over to Succotash and the unconscious bullette AB2 -- moved on the map. He looks at the paladin and meows piteously -- well, as piteously as a size large dire tiger can.

DireBliss sure looks tired (fatigued after rage).

But then he bends his great head down to the unconscious bulette and snuffs a huge inhalation as a standard action spell-like ability. The stuff of the monster's dwindling life force seeps into the bloodwitch. Maybe.

[OOC: Using Bloodwitch Life & Death ability to cast Death Knell on the fallen foe. If the bulette fails a DC15 Will save, it dies and Bliss gets some sweet bennies, depending on the bulette's hit dice. Also note that the use of the spell-like ability requires no components, somatic nor verbal, so Bliss can do this as a tiger, and it has no alignment ramifications, per the witch class.]

If the giant is not caught up in the vortex, Murphy rises to a height just a bit out of reach of the monster (35' for bottom of funnel, 85' for top), and takes a look around to see if anything else is on its way.

Pressi and Harper advance, keeping sure Harper remains safe. She casts ghost touch on Hobie's arrows.

With said ghost touch arrows, Hobie vanquishes both of the festering spirits.

Bliss calms himself down and makes his way over to the knocked-out bulette. He tries to draw forth the life remaining in the bulette, but the landshark resists! (Fort save 17 - success).

Succotash heals up Bliss and freshens him up a bit.

Kezzem gets ready to help Hobie, but both spirits are cut down already. Rumpus heads over to join Murphy's elemental.

Murphy tries sucking up the lone enemy combatant, but the giant's prepared this time (reflex 25). He rises up to get a good look at the battlefield. Through the storm he created, he sees the Power in the center of the battlefield rise up. Despite the sounds of wind and battle, the Power's voice booms outward.

"YOU WILL NOT HURT MY LAND, AND I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED SO EASILY!"

Murphy sees another group of creatures pour out, shrinking it even further. Luckily for Humble's Sword, only one creature seems headed your direction. Unfortunately, it is quite large and flying towards you very quickly. It will arrive next round.

In its madness and frustration, the remaining giant hurls its club at Murphy. It misses the shifting winds of our fair druid, causing the giant to absolutely howl in rage.

"Hey big guy!" says Kezzem. "It sounds like the you love your land, and from the looks of that giant vine hug, the lands feels pretty much the same way. It's hugging you so tight, you might even say it has a...crush...on you."

Rumpus stays put and keeps alert for trouble (total defense).

The elemental then finds vines begin to wrap around it (Ref d20=4).

"Spread out - flier coming - possible breath weapon!" Murphy warns his party members in a powerful, windy voice.

"This is not your day, bigun," he says to the raging giant as a 30' tall, 5' diameter electrical discharge short circuits him for 13hp.

Kezzem mocks the giant. Not very friendly considering it's just diseased and not evil, but paladins are lawful good, not lawful nice.

Hobie tries to get a few shots off at the incoming thingy, but all go wide. A few of them go way off.

Succotash detects evil and confirms it is indeed quite evil.

Pressi's not sure what to do. She offers to trade places with Bliss, but Bliss isn't in agreement. So, she casts surrender blood.

Murphy finally finishes off the lone giant, leaving the battlefield temporarily quiet. He casts a bear's endurance spell on himself and looks towards the approaching shape. He announces the beast appears to be black, but he doesn't have much time to give warning.

Flying in hot is a sleek, dark dragon. Its scales are black...no, they're a very dark violet. Its eyes glow red and blood drips from both them and every other orifice on its head. It is clearly in some sort of distress as it shakes its head about and scratches at the scales along its arms. Both of the aformentioned arms have deep gouges in them from where scales have been ripped off. It lands...poorly. It hits the ground and rolls, crushing Rumpus, Miss Piggy, and Kezzem before coming to a stop on top of the paladin.

Rumpus, Kezzem, and Miss Piggy take 24 buldgeoning damage. Kezzem must make a DC 24 reflex save or be pinned.

The thing roars in frustration and thrashes about, trying to get back to its feet. Even in its current state, it is still an awesome sight. Everyone must make a DC24 will save or be shaken for 18 rounds. This is a fear effect.

Know, Arcana DC 18, Highlight to display spoiler: {This is an umbral dragon. Not an old one, but it's no spring chicken either.}

Though on the one hand, Murphy feels some compassion toward the dragon - in distress and obviously injured - yet he also considers it just injured several of his friends. He also nearly is overcome by awe at its fearsome power - but calls again on heroic measure to battle back the fear (22+2 from hero point=will save 24). Murphy casts a 40-foot high, 10-foot radius flame strike (centered at AM-AN/51-52) for 34 hp fire damage (Reflex DC24 for 1/2) versus the sleek, dark violet dragon. He feels he should know in the back of his mind what it is, but cannot pluck out the precise knowledge at the moment (Knowledge Arcana 16/18).

Thinking on it, he surmises, and calls out, "SPREAD OUT - BREATH!" he shouts in halfling. "I think that the power we battle just threw that dragon at us - as it threw the hell hound at me, earlier. It was coming faster than dragons can fly, to the best of my reckoning."

Meanwhile, the medium earth elemental is dealing with the unaccustomed experience of being well caught up by vines. How did they snag him under the armpits? [Reflex save 1]. At least the stone giant has fallen down. He believes he has done a tremendous job in tripping the giants so far. He tries to earthglide downward, but cannot.

Lastly, Murphy glances toward the center quickly, and scans the horizon for what may be happening with other heroes surrounding the power. Perception: 39 - pretty good glance.

Murphy weighs the pros and cons of attacking the distressed dragon, coming down on whichever side involves summoning a pillar of flame to attack it. The dragon never sees it coming and is hit by the full blast (save nat 1). Lucky from the dragon, the spell fails to affect him at all (rolled spell penetration for you, including the +2 for your feat, and rolled a 24 - that fails). He warns of incoming breath attacks.

Succotash ain't afraid of no dragon, but Miss Piggy is. She holds it together though. They tag team the thing. Both manage to score a hit, but know deep down it was only because the dragon is prone. Miss Piggy's attack doesn't seem to do much, but Succotash's? Whoo boy that upset him.

Kezzem tries to break free, but fails. He manages to smite the dragon, though. Rumpus exercies caution.

Hobie successfully identifies this as an umbral dragon. He flies up and fires, but his shot just bounces off.

Pressi sucessfully penetrates the dragon's natural defenses and hits him with an ill omen. She draws a grease wand. Harper gnaws ineffectually on the dragon's scales.

Bliss pounces and snakes a claw underneath the dragon's scales.

The dragon shakes its head, sending a spray of blood into the air. It stands, pushing poor Kezzem's head back into the ground (no damage, just flavor text). It turns to face Succotash, still smarting from the halfling's smite. It sighs. "Going mad from the disease of a blood god, and still I manage to find a paladin looking to prove himself. Very well, little one. Prove yourself." The dragon snaps its head forward lightning quick and chomps down on Succotash. With the paladin caught in his jaws, the raises his head up with Succotash in tow.

Hit AC 39* for 17 damage. The dragon grapples per its own snatch feat, getting a 36* on its CMB check vs Succotash's 26 CMD. Succotash is grappled & stuck in the dragon's maw.

Kezzem is no longer pinned, but starts the round prone.

*Yes, I rolled the D20s twice per ill omen.

Pressi swivels, hitting Succotash with the grease wand. She moves 20 feet closer.

Kezzem scurries out from underneath the dragon (move action) and stands-up (move action). He lays hand on himself (swift action).

"Hey Press, you're supposed to grease the pig when playing Catch the Pig, but nevermind, this is no time for fun and games. We've got a dragon here!"

Healing: 5d6 = 19.

"Hey dragon, you know what's worst for a dragon that being smiteded (sic) by one paladin?"

He stabs one of his daggers at the dragon's flank (extra standard action for a hero point; bonuses from heroes' feast and smite included; did not include a flanking bonus from Succotash separate since I wasn't sure if he could flank while being grappled or not--I assume not, and it doesn't look like Kezzem needed it anyway).

Attack: 1d20 + 22 = 40. Hit!
Damage: 1d3 + 22 = 25.

"Two paladins," Kezzem answers.

Rumpus stays back, figuring his hooves wouldn't do much-if-any damage even if he could hit the dragon's AC (total defense).

OOC: Btw, Rumpus is a pony, not a horse. I see he was labeled as a horse on the map.

Murphy, in halfling, says, "Succo, get ready for me to touch you." He moves to where Succotash resides nicely grappled. He casts freedom of movement and touches (AC 28) Succotash (Touch AC11, due to -4 dex with grappled condition) on some part of his body. Bumps into the nose of the dragon if he has to, but focuses the touch on the paladin. [Flyby attack feat - and no AoO when in whirlwind form]

Ends up about AL59, still in whirlwind form. "All right, buddy - prove yourself to this fellow."

[Raging but not charging means that Bliss's AC remains 24. With blink for one more round.]

Bliss turns off his Tear. He'll be biting for real. (Blech!)

Supplemental

Murphy drops the whirlwind and prepares to fly by to deliver a freedom of movement spell for his fairly new friend, Succotash. He knows that, whereas as a whirlwind he can fly by with little risk of an extra attack from an opponent, that risk rises in his simple air elemental form. Therefore, the druid casts defensively (DC 15+(2*Spell Level of 4)=DC 23), risking possible loss of the spell, but obviating the opportunity for this magnificent fearsome dragon easily to take advantage of his passing by. Concentration check (d20+caster level + ability score modifer used to determine bonus spells of the same type) of d20+10+6 (owl's wisdom bonus included), roll of 31 to cast defensively, avoiding attacks of opportunity, and the spell is not disrupted, and, in theory (subject to DM ratification), the paladin can be loosy goosy in the jaws of the dragon.

[When I saw your email, DM Carl, I was at work, and had only about a 90-second window in which to reply - needed to look up the rules after work before he actually flew the mission. Looked up defensive casting before I saw your post. Let me know if this works. I don't know if any other effects on him would help with concentration - prot. fr evil +2; heroes' feast +1]

But Pressi does have a recommendation for Hobie. If he flies down to her, it won’t take two rounds to bless his weapon. Alternatively he can give her his hero points so she can try boosting her SR rolls.

*Copying previous post, then deleting a bunch to keep the board neat.

Pressi hits Succotash with some grease as Harper wonders how she's expected to hurt this dragon.

Kezzem stands and heals himself. He flanks the dragon and shows him that his troubles are twice as bad as he thought.

Murphy flies in, drops his whirlwind, and defensively casts freedom of movement on Succotash. As he retreats, the dragon rears back and slashes, barely striking him.

Hit AC 33 for 23 damage.

Bliss turns himself up to 11 and dives in, sinking his teeth and claws into the dragon. Instead of ichor, warm blood flows into his mouth. Seems the dragon's not undead after all.

Hobie manages to get one of his arrows to stick in the beast's scales. The flames from the arrow char it a bit.

Succotash slips easily from the dragon's maw, then falls (noted last round the dragon raised its head up). Luckily, it's not too far a drop. He and Miss Piggy press their attack, with Succotash scoring another solid blow.

The dragon realizes it's in a bad place. It spreads its wings and takes to the skies, incurring an AoO from Kezzem, Succotash, Bliss, Harper, and Miss Piggy. He hovers a mere 20' from the ground, raising a cloud of dust and debris.

*If a creature of size Large or larger with this feat hovers within 20 feet of the ground in an area with lots of loose debris, the draft from its wings creates a hemispherical cloud with a radius of 60 feet. The winds generated can snuff torches, small campfires, exposed lanterns, and other small, open flames of non-magical origin. Clear vision within the cloud is limited to 10 feet. Creatures have concealment at 15 to 20 feet (20% miss chance). At 25 feet or more, creatures have total concealment (50% miss chance, and opponents cannot use sight to locate the creature).

Those who are able to see witness the dragon breath in deeply, then breath out pure blackness. Everyone except Hobie, Pressi, and Rumpus are caught in the attack.

Fort save DC 24 or be blinded for 4 rounds and take 7 STR damage. Successful saves reduce the STR damage to 3 and negate the blindness. This is not a negative energy attack and is not thwarted by death ward.

[USE MAP's ROUND 17]

As Murphy had turned to face toward the dragon at the end of his turn, he observes him lifting off and beginning to beat its wings. The air elemental's lower parts are at about 20', and his head at about 36'. As the kicking up of dust and debris constitutes a stormy condition, he sends down a lightning bolt pretty much straight in front of him at about AK44 (I figured about 60' ahead of him, rolling d4=3 to add 15' more, so 75' away), for 5d10=16 hp lightning damage, starting at a height of 40', and descending to a height of 10', with a 5' diameter. Reflex save DC 25 for 1/2 (other half is divine damage, no save). [Please roll SR, if applicable - have to post now]

He then shoots high up in the air, out of the swirling dust, to figure out what to do next.

""Pressi, I'm blinded, high in the air. How are you faring?" he asks telepathically.

Perception: 41 (hearing should be relatively fine. Failed Fort save with a 21, thus blinded for 4 rounds, loss of 7 STR, visual shot, but ears work)

First, Bliss has an AoO to make as the dragon ascends. At this point, he is still blinking, so let's roll a miss chance ... nope! Okay, let's roll a to hit ... hits AC34, a hit, for 17 damage.

Then the dust cloud; that does not affect Bliss too much.

Then the breath weapons! Wowsy! But Bliss is still blinking, and per the Blink Spell, "While blinking, you take only half damage from area attacks."

Sounds like it is time for a reflex save! Bliss's is at +7 usually, but the bloodwitch ward boosts that to +8, right? A hero point used before the roll boosts that by +8 to +16. The roll is a ... 27! That's no blindness and only 3 Str damage, but I'm hoping the Blink reduces that to a mere 1 point of Str damage ... or none?

Bliss still has all his usual actions left for the round.

Bliss's turn starts, and he is NO LONGER BLINKING! I'm assuming Bliss is -1 Str.

Perception check ... 41 ... Bliss senses/scents the dragon 20 ft up and over there. Since it is a living thing, not undead, he activates his tear.

As a Raging Leaper (barbarian power), Bliss does not need a running start to jump. And with move 60, he has a movement-based +12 to jump checks. And his Acrobatics starts at +30, so that's a net +44 on jump checks with no need for a running start.

Bliss pounces OVER and UP! He rolls a 46 on his check, so he gets 46 ft over and 10 ft up on the leap, that's 10 ft of open air between the ground and his hindpaws. He is large size, so he is 10 ft long. And he has a five ft reach. Hopefully that's enough to let him attack at the end of his pounce!

Bliss is weak (by 1 pt) and he keeps his power attack off. He also gets a +2 flanking, so far as I can tell from the map. BAB+7, +8 str, -1 size, +1 enhancement, +1 hero feast, +2 charge, +2 divine favor = +20 to hit for bonus dam +8 str, +1 enhancement +2 divine favor for +11 damage.

Bliss swipes with his claws and BITES ... and hits ACs21, 27, and 37 -- ONLY the bite hits. Bliss bites for 21 nonlethal damage!

Now that his attack is over, Bliss is 10 ft up in midair! Uh-oh! He twists and turns to (hopefully) land on his feet and avoid falling damage. His Acrobatics check to do that is an auto success vs the required DC15.

HOWEVER, seems very likely that Bliss provoked AoOs as he leaped up (and fell down) through threatened squares. And charging, with no Blink, Bliss's puny AC22 means he may be paying a price for his heroism!

(Ignore the d20=1, don't know how that even happened.)

"Doing pretty good," Pressi messages back to Murphy. "I'm not someone who got next to a dragon," she quips.

Coughing, she drops the grease wand in her bag, surveys who needs heals and considers her options. Only one person is blinded, Murphy, but he's up there and she can't pull a remove blindness scroll out of her bag and move the hand in time. "Can you try to come near me?" she shouts and telepaths. She can cast a single lesser restore from her last high level spell slot, but that would leave her with no great tricks left. A scroll of slow would do well right now, but will never beat that SR.

Kezzem shrugs off the worst of the shadow breath and restores that lost strength.

Hobie casts true strike, because by golly he's gonna put an arrow in that dragon.

Murphy is blinded and weakened. He summons a lightning bolt where he thinks the dragon should be, and somehow manages to hit the thing full on. An impressive feat.

(Spell resistance check 33 - pass. Reflex save 14 - fail. 50% miss chance due to blindness 47 - pass. d10 because of the dust storm is dubious, but you'd probably get higher than 16 if you rolled again anyway.)

Succotash and his trusty pig both save vs the shadow breath was well. Succotash heals some of the STR damage and taunts the dragon.

Bliss...Bliss is feeling dangerous. His blink saves him from some of the damage (1 STR damage, confirmed. It was a fort save, not reflex, but since your fort is higher than your reflex, no big deal. I'll leave it up to you whether you would have used a HP for a fort save). He takes a flying leap at the dragon and tears a gash in its haunch. The dragon's tail whips out and slams into Bliss on his way back down, hitting AC 39 for 21 damage.

Pressi sends the weakened, blinded, and injured Harper away someplace safe. She tries to deliver a touch attack, but the dragon's SR blocks it.

The dragon's taken some damage; it certainly looks rougher than it did when it landed. That said, if it's feeling weak, it's not showing it.

Not bad, little ones. You might have had me had I stayed down there." The dragon flies up and to the east a bit, lining up a better shot."Unfortunately for you," the dragon pauses to take a deep breath, "I didn't."

The dragon roars, shooting forth a cone of inky, yucky negative energy. The cone hits everyone except Rumpus, Harper, Murphy and Pressi.

(You said Harper moved last round, but she's still in the same place on the map. I'm assuming that's just an oversight.)

Everyone else takes 71 negative energy damage. Reflex save DC 24 for half.

The dragon is now 30' in the air, and the dust storm settles down.

"How you like them daggers, dragon!" shouts Kezzem, literally blinded to the fact that his daggers either missed completely or bounced off the dragon's scales.

Kezzem will then use a hero point for a bonus action to channel positive energy. It should hit Bliss, Hobbie, Piggy, and Succo.

Channel Positive Energy: 5d6 = 2 + 4 + 5 + 3 + 4 = 18.

OOC: Really burning through those hero points this fight, but I figure might was use them up against a dragon!

Pressi messages Murphy, trying to get a plan going.

First, she sees if he is coming to her so she can scroll heal him. (Mechanics, it takes a move action to get the scroll, a touch standard action to remove blindness, and a second move action to move her spectral hand.)

Second, she sees if he has another whirlwind in him. The dragon has broken wings and doesn't seem to be flying very well (he's not shooting 60 feet up in the air) so she might be able to outfly him in wind. (She has one L4 spell left, so she can polymorph, broom, or hold on to it/use it for one more non-attack trick.)

The alternative is that she can realize her casting is almost up and start buffing for melee (divine favor, shifting to young) or spamming mislead.

Murphy casts cure moderate wounds on himself, regaining 20 hp - back to full.

"Yes, I'll come down right now," Murphy communicates telepathically with Murphy. "Since you can see, and I cannot, guide me. To you, or to your spectral hand?" he asks. Whichever she recommends, that is where she goes. "Or if you want me to delay slightly, tell me that." He follows her instructions, and heads towards her - or towards where the spectral hand is, or will soon be - or delays, by coming only within about 90 feet of where she wants him to go. "And, yes, I can whirlwind again."

It is so comforting to have Pressi's voice to help him out.

But, she has a job to do.

With all her ability, she guides Murphy towards the spectral hand as she removes a scroll from her sack.

With the scroll, she casts remove blindness. (UMD roll 25)

Hobie tries his best to get out of the way of the dragon's negative energy blast, but he takes the full effect, and he is REALLY hurting.

The two Paladins both posted first, so I was not able to get in range of their Channels, because Hobie is 60 feet in the air right now.

If it's not too late with the order of posting, I'd like for Hobie's move action to be to fly down to the ground to be in range of healing. If it's too late for that, Hobie will instead fly upwards and away from the dragon at a 45 degree angle, trying to distance himself from it.

Either way, Hobie will use his standard action to cast Bear's Endurance on himself via his bonded object, boosting his HP temporarily.

Kezzem avoids the worst of the affects, but they still hurt. He channels energy to heal and throws some daggers in the dragon's direction.

Succotash throws an axe with the same result, as well as channeling energy himself.

Bliss accepts the healing gratefully and repostions himself.

Pressi bites her tongue regarding her opinion of this dragon, then tries to get a plan going. Once Murphy's in range, she has her spectral hand remove his blindness.

Murphy also heals himself back up to full.

Hobie ducks in, trying to get in on the paladin's healing, then ups his endurance.

(Since we don't roll initiative, I do allow some intra-turn retconning. Outcomes shouldn't be soley dependent on when you can post. Also, since you didn't say exactly where you were moving to, I just moved you in a straight line to within range of them.)

The dragon notes that Succotash just brushed off his breath weapon. "Well, little one. Looks like you'll be around to watch your friends die." It's voice is pretty matter of fact. If he's gloating, it's not obvious. He breathes deep, then spews negative energy again*. Murphy gets caught up in the blast this time, but Bliss, Pressi, and all the companion animals do not. 53 negative energy damage, reflex DC 24 for half.

*Forgot to roll a d4 to see how soon he could breathe again, so I rolled it this round and got a 1.

"Thank you, Pressi," Murphy says mentally - not wanting to give the dragon her name. So focused was he on having his eyes opened, that he failed a Reflex save (should be 2+14=16), and takes the full negative energy damage.

He shoots up into the air, off to his right, and lets loose another 5d6 lightning bolt (Ref save DC 25 for 1/2, other half is divine with no save, other than MR)., striking at AM47 for 16 hp damage.

"I'm sorry that the great power just threw you in our direction, O Great Dragon, causing you pain, and tearing off some of your scales in the process. But, now that you are infected with the blood, we cannot let you be - unless you decide to return toward the center," Murphy tells him. "I'd understand if you choose not to do so, though."

He hopes to draw the dragon's attention away from the others, who may be sorely injured by the blast of draining energy, to see whether the dragon may have an interest in this air elemental. "What is your name?" he asks.

Meanwhile, the earth elemental has been entangled the past several rounds, and still cannot break free. He just wants to go back down and swim through the soil.

ooc: The thing I love/hate about play by post is that moments like this, where we are running out of spells, and being destroyed by a dragon. I am genuinely concerned that Hobie is not going to live through this fight, and this is the reason I play Pathfinder. This wonderful tension where you have a challenge that you really might not come out of. In a normal, in-person session, this tension would last 45 minutes or so, and then I would know if my character lived or died. With play by post, I have to spend days, sometimes WEEKS at work, or riding the bus, wondering, "Is Hobie going to make it out of this? What can I do differently to keep him from dying." I love this game.

Pressi considers curing Hobie, but he appears to be out of range. Nonetheless, she mentally prepares to breath of life him next round. Pressi's bless weapon flickers out besides her.

To succotash, "I'm sorry but I only have two forms of flight. My broom is self only, and polymorph will lose you too much damage. The latter really would only help..."

You can see the light bulb appear over Pressi's head.

"I think we have to accept what the dragon is hinting at," she mutters as she swings her spectral hand towards Succotash's mount. "The only way this team can beat him... is when pigs fly."

Pressi casts Polymorph on Miss Piggy, transforming her into a Large Eagle.

------------

As a healer, it's a slightly different sensation at least for this mission. (Boy did the tension ratchet up when something grabbed Hobie and teleported.) My biggest tensions are: 1) What happens when I run out of spells, and 2) How long before the dragon finally realizes I keep screwing him over and am quite grabbable?

I'm glad you guys are enjoying this. Between this combat and the nightmare that is Hook City's big fight, I'm kinda combated out and was worrying it was going to bleed over here. If it makes you feel any better, you're on the home stretch. Hang in there. You'll have a good chunk of downtime to catch up on RP back in town and such.

Murphy sends a lightning bolt down on the dragon again (you don't need to beat SR with every bolt, the spell already passed its check), but the dragon is ready this time and avoids most of it. He attempts to converse with it.

"I am Xusintass, Son of Korrine. Rightful heir to the throne atop the world which was stolen from her by adventurers just like yourselves."

The last point is punctuated by two daggers from Kezzem. With that, the dragon loses his chill.

"THAT TEARS IT! the beast bellows. "If I'm going to die or lose myself to disease I'm taking as many of you with me as I can." He eyes Hobie flying away, but there are four of him and that's going to be annoying. Better to wait and finish him off in a few moments with his breath weapon. He turn back to Murphy and makes his decision.

Meanwhile, Succotash asks for help flying and Bliss loads a bullet into his newly magical sling.

Pressi can't make Succotash fly, but she can turn Miss Piggy into an eagle.

The dragon closes in on Murphy easily, getting right in his face* before lashing out with it's claws and draining some life from Murphy - Vampiric touch - Hit touch AC 37 for 24 damage.

"If pigs are flying and I'm missing it, Mr. Dragon-man, I'm going to be really cross at you. I might have to taunt you a second time. Let see, um...you mother was a handbag, and your father smelt of elderberries."

Hearing the dragon moving further away, Kezzem stows his daggers (move action) and draws his bow (Quick Draw) instead. He makes a single shot at the dragon, glad that dragon's constant boasting allows him to guestimate his position.

Succotash seeing his closest friend in the form of a Giant Eagle wastes no time and quickly mounts her (move action) shouting over his shoulder to Pressi, "Your the best Pressi, thanks for the lift!" "Where is the top of the world, anyway, where this throne is, Prince Xusintass?" Murphy asks. "My geographical studies fell somewhat short on that point."

Murphy's attack of opportunity is not potent enough (at 26AC).

"Oof!" he says as the dragon sucks something out of him. His spellcraft (11) is not strong enough to recognize the spell as Vampiric Touch - but he intends to find out that the dragon did to him with that spell - well, he has a fairly good idea on the results, but not the name of the spell.

"Well if you do so, maybe I can hear more of your story on the other side. That is, if our landing places are not too far off from each other."

He could drop a lightning bolt on him again - still a few left. Instead, though he decides to attack, as they are immediately adjacent.

He does manage to slam the dragon along one cheek for 11 hp damage, but fails to penetrate the prince's natural armor for a second slam.

Knowing that the dragon hurt him badly, and he may have no further opportunity to help out his friends, Murphy expends a hero point for an additional standard action, and drops another lightning bolt (24 hp) (via earlier cast call lightning storm) on him, casting defensively - At DC25, he fails, losing the spell, but not subject to an AoO.

His perception, however, as he is still not quite yet dead, is acute - 44.

"Do you play chess?" he asks the death bringer, still striving to have the dragon focus his fury upon him.

As he has a move left, Murphy will seek to fly out of the way, upward, if he sees a claw or tail coming after him, or jaws opening to breathe. Might that have an effect on his AC? If so, how much?

DM edit: It won't. Making an AoO doesn't affect AC.

"Pressi, I am in dire need of healing," she hears.

Every sense gets sharper as she surveys the entire battle field. Every object is slower, further away. She watches Murphy remaining in the fight, even as the dragon strikes him with a vampiric touch. (Get out of there, she messages him, he's using you to heal himself!) She watches as Kezzem remains blinded, as Murphy struggles to keep upright, as Succotash rides through the air on her last critical cure, as the other witch with breath of life decides to huck a bullet.

As every spell that failed gets re-examined. As every casting and heroic action she made gets re-examined.

"Pressi, I am in dire need of healing," she hears.

How long has it been? Seconds? Years? She tries to put her thoughts out of her mind, tries to focus on what needs to be done, tries not to think that she asked for power. That she thought playing god was easy. Tries not to think about the day she met Kezzem, the day she and Murphy first kissed, the day she had to race to save Hobie... Was the last one really yesterday?

"Pressi, I am in dire need of healing," she hears from behind her. "Do you have any spells left that could help me out?"

"Yes, yes I do," she replied to Hobie. "I'm sorry."

With a flick of her hand, she swung the spectral hand towards Kezzem. Her cat cried nearby, still helpless.

Pressi scroll casts remove blindness on Kezzem (the scroll is still in her hand; its the last object she used).

She braces to watch Murphy fall out of the sky, even as she holds on to her Breath of Life.

Kezzem tries taunting the dragon, but it doesn't seem interested, nor does it notice the bolt that whizzes by.

Succotash cheers on Miss Piggy, now an eagle, as she tears into the dragon.

Bliss fires a sling bullet that bounces off the dragon's scales.

Murphy clocks the dragon square in the mouth, then calls another bolt of lightning down. The dragon avoids the worst of it, but is still looking really rough. He tries engaging the dragon while beating him up.

Invoking a bolt from call lightning isn't the same as casting a spell. You don't need to do it defensively.

Time moves slowly as Pressi watches Murphy tangle with the dragon. She heals Hobie, then prepares to do what she can for everyone else.

Xusintass is not insane yet, and is no fool. The writing's on the wall for him: escape and lose himself to disease, or die to these admitedly capable adventurers. "Enough talk, little one. Time's up for us. Better to fall to you than become...something else. You have my admiration, but pride insists I not die alone." Xusintass bites down hard, crushing Murphy's elemental form until the spark leaves him and he returns to his natural form. The dragon continues to bite, breaking bones and rupturing organs.

Hit AC 39 for 28 damage - with 13 HP left and 12 CON, that will outright kill Murphy.

The dragon does not release Murphy as he turns to face this blasted eagle...of all the things to face at the end of his life. A paladin's pig transformed into an eagle. It is too insulting to go unpunished. He spins to face Miss Piggy, slaming his tail into her as he turns - hit AC 36 for 18 damage. His claws rake across her new form - Hit AC 34 and 35 for 19 and 18 damage, respectively. His wings beat and buffet the poor pig turned eagle - hit AC 42 and 37 for 14 and 14 damage. The combined assault is too much. No longer a living creature, Pressi's spell on Miss Piggy ends and she falls 60' to the ground below.

Xusintass stops beating his wings and falls, landing with an immense, earth-moving thud. Blood is pouring from him, and his breathing is ragged. He simply stares into Succotash's eyes and spits out Murphy's corpse. "Looks like you failed to protect your friends, paladin." He looks expectantly at Succotash and waits.

Murphy ONLY, Highlight to display spoiler: { The pain is shocking, but brief, and is soon replaced by darkness and peace. You're awoken...sometime later. Something dull pokes at your legs. "Hey boss," someone shouts in a high-pitched voice. "I think one of those Humble's Swords got himself killed." Your eyes work. They open to see a small imp leaning against a translucent Miss Piggy. Towering over him and the rest of the battlefield is Gargul, god of life and death. He stares intently at the mass combat before him, ignoring his companion.

"Eh, he's busy, don't mind him. Here, lemme help you up." He offers a hand to help Murphy rise. "Big guy was worried you folks wouldn't be able to handle that thing, but choices had to be made. It was hard enough keeping the Sarr's avatar from running amok." The imp looks back to the center, taking a small, rolled cigar from a pouch on his belt. He offers it to Murphy. "Almost made it, kid. You did good back there. Sarr's almost reigned in, then we can end this mess. Don't go too far. I gotta go check on the others." With that, he flies off to the northwest.

The battle continues around you, though you can't assist your friends. It feels like days have passed, but the battle has barely progressed since you were killed.

The time for the earth elemental to return to its normal habitation has arrived, and its time for wrestling with tough vegetation has come to an end. It disappears.

Murphy's body lies bloodied and broken on the field where Xusintass spit him out.

Pressi lovingly tries to bring him back, to restore his breath. Heir-apparent Xusintass the umbral dragon, however, was much too thorough in his munching and crunching of Murphy's body (3 points past the constitution limit... or 1 point past the limit after the +4 for bear's endurance, and the -2 from the slime from the festering spirits).

Behind the veil Like, the rest of you all can't see this going on
Murphy looks at his new surroundings. Ah, the imp. He takes the hand, and rises, feeling his sides, checking the integrity of his bones. "Master Gimp, thank you. Thought there was a chance I might run into you and His Lordship today."

Murphy looks to see if he can see the battlefield, and, if so, tries to figure out where his companions stand upon the field, and where the other groups are arrayed.

"Miss Piggy!" he says, seeing the translucent animal. "Ah, so sorry, good sow."

When offered the cigar, Murphy takes it with a nod of acknowledgement. He has smoked a few times before, though does not make it a common practice. His uncle Orbi has taught him a fair bit about tobacco horticulture, and taught him to recognize various tobacco strains by sense of smell. Not as knowledgeable as his uncle, certainly, but he has a fair chance to know roughly the kind of tobacco (knowledge, nature: 24). "Thank you - yes, yes, go take care of things, of course."

He breathes in the tobacco scent one more time, then begins to compose a prayer in his mind. He approaches Miss Piggy, and lays a hand upon her, and continues the composition.

...and breathe - DM Carl
Monday June 25th, 2018 11:31:14 AM

Xusintass closes his eyes and dreams. He dreams of shadow-walking away from these halflings, tending his wounds, and finding their home. In his mind, he imagines terrorizing their village for centuries. He dreams of blighting their crops, of eating their children. He dreams of demanding sacrifices, of spending several halfling lifetimes patiently preying on them. It's a fine dream, one his mother would be proud of, and but not for this disease, one he would be able to carry out.

His mouth turns up into a fang-filled smile as Kezzem's arrow pierces his tailbone, shattering the base of his spine. He starts to go limp as Succoatsh cleaves twice with his holy greatsword, removing the dragon's head. His last thoughts are happy ones as the blood drains away from his diseased brain and he finally finds peace.

Pressi and Bliss descend upon the recently fallen, knowing their magic has a very narrow window. Pressi's magic starts working, uncrushing the most vital organs and stopping the blood still pooling around him. Murphy's still not pretty, but it's a start.

*Breath of life compares CON scores after healing is applied, not before. Cayzle and I have had this conversation before.

Murphy ONLY, Highlight to display spoiler: {The tobacco could easily be from Orbi's farm. Perhaps Gimp is more thoughful than he readily lets on and planned some comforts for fallen heroes. You watch as Kezzem and Succotash dispatch the dragon, then watch the dragon's spirit stand from its carcass. He sighs, then looks you over dispassionately before he flies downwards through the physical terrain. Straining, you can still see him as he orientates himself to a stream of woldsblood and flies off.

You feel a tug as Pressi's spell takes hold, and immediately the eyes of Gargul are upon you. He breathes in, eyebrows furrowing. He does not look happy. It's the last thing you see before your spirit is shoved forcefully back into your body. Your world explodes in pain; you are still very injured.
}

Bliss is able to do the same for Miss Piggy, who squeals in confusion and pain as she's brought back as well. She looks nervous and confused, unable to process what just happened.

(Hope you don't mind, Cayzle. I couldn't picture Bliss just letting her die after Pressi was able to bring Murphy back by herself.)

The battlefield around you is silent. All around, other groups are finishing up their battles as well, though the Iron Dragons seem to have their hands full still. The Sarr is just a small fraction of its former self.

He then puts a hand on Succotash's shoulder. "Hey man, glad your pig didn't die. I was starting to like her."

PIGGY!!!! Succotash screams in elation, as he runs over to embrace his revived friend, then in a more subdued tone asks Pressi if Murphy is going to make it. If he is breathing, he will use a lay of hands on Murphy, healing 23 hp, then he will use his last hero point, and his last lay of hands to heal Miss Piggy 16hp.

Seeing Pressi bring Murphy back to life, Hobie flies over to him and taps him with a wand of CLW. Hobie frantically waves the wand at Murphy's bleeding injured body, but is unable to get the wand to discharge.

Pressi is he going to be alright? It seems you've brought him back to life, are my eyes fooling me? Or will he be okay?

Hobie also looks over to where the Iron Dragons still seem to have their hands full. He looks around to his friends who are still able to stand
Should we help them? It might get us killed, but is there anything we can do to help the Iron Dragons? They would do, and have done, the same for us in times of need.

Hobie rolls perception to see what is going on with the Iron Dragons at this moment. Perception 23.

Pressi fires her remote viewing ability towards the Saar and the Iron Dragons.

From the comfort of afterlife, back to the pain of the present, Murphy's recently escaped soul returns to his body. The wash of pain stuns him into semi-consciousness. He feels increased pain as he hears Kezzem speak to him, and realizes the paladin is welcoming him back. Normally a hug would be welcomed, but it feels as though his nerves short circuit with the squeeze. He lets out a feeble, "Th-thank you, K-k-zem" - grateful for the sentiments, if not quite so much for the added pressure at the moment.

Succotash then heals him further, for which he says, "Blessings," and Hobie works to render assistance, too. The momentary hugging pain is washed away, and he feels, not wonderful, but better. "Here, Hobie, let me try," and, borrowing the wand for a moment, manages to receive 7 more hp of healing. He returns the wand to his friend. He rises to his feet, rests his hands on his knees a moment, then lifts his head to see what is going on about him.

"Hello, my ruby goddess," he smiles wanly at Pressi. He looks down at his torn clothing, but refrains from mentioning his shirt is almost a ruby color.

He steps a few feet away from the others, then invokes a few showers of water directly over his head, to begin to clean off some of the blood and gore. The druid looks at the body of the slain dragon. "I watched him dive into the Woldsblood on the other side. Well done, friends."

“How are the Iron Dragons doing Pressi”, Succotash asks, “I never met any of them, but if they need help I’m on my way”. Succotash mounts Miss Piggy, believing he needs her speed, saying, “Piggy, I know you’re hurting, but if those guys need me I need you to get me there ASAP!” “Hey Murphy”, he calls from the saddle, “If you could drop your spells, it would make traveling far less painful”.

OCC: If Pressi says they look like they have things under control, Succotash will dismount, otherwise, he and Miss Piggy will travel at 160ft per round (Miss Piggy’s sprint speed) towards the Iron Dragons.

rethought the first post, Murphy will still get the 23hp, but Succotash will cast heal mount on Miss Piggy, which at level 10 heals 100hp topping her up completely, and he will save his last lay of hands, just in case.

With Humble's Sword back at its full roster, everyone who's able pitches in some healing to get Murphy back on his feet. Lucky for Miss Piggy, her master has a very potent spell to heal her; she's feeling better and squealing happily in no time.

Pressi sends her vision across the battlefield to see what the Iron Dragons are up to. The heroes there face liches, crystalline archers, and what looks like a flying castle made of crystal as well. Panning her vision, Pressi sees a terror unlike anything she's ever seen. It's a horrible amalgamation of dragon, bat, and purple worm. It grows red with the same power that the Sarr does, and a massive crown of adamantium sits on its head. Pressi must make a DC30 will save or be shaken.

Shaken or not, Pressi hopefully realizes it makes the dragon Humble's Sword just defeated look like a mewling kitten.

The Iron Dragons themselves are all still alive and kicking. She sees Garret doing his best against enemies who are all flying way above his head. Humble's Sword can probably relate. Tink is no where to be seen.

Any thoughts about trying to help the Dragons are cut short as a loud tearing sound erupts from the center of the mass combat...

"Huh, that can't be good," says Kezzem in response to the loud tearing sound.

He takes out his wand of cure light wounds and uses a charge on Hobbie.

Healing: 1d8 + 1 = 5 + 1 = 6.

"Hey Hobbie, you look Murph, and he just died. Have a little healing before something comes and starts killing us again. Sorry it's not that much."

Hobie gratefully accepts the healing. He takes his wand back from Murphy and tries to heal himslef some more but the wand makes a strange noise instead of healing him (UMD Nat 1).

"Dang it! I can turn invisible, or make 6 of me, but I can't get ever seem to get this stupid wand to work myself! I'm glad I have you guys around."

Upon hearing the loud tearing sound, Hobie is filled with a concern and fear for the Iron Dragons, one of which in particular. He says to Pressi

"What was that noise?! How are they doing? How is Tink? Did you see Tink? Is she okay?"

Pressi manages with all her might to shake off the fear effect, and has some iron will to spare (I'm assuming its a fear effect. But even without, her will saves are pretty strongly buffed for the moment and she rolled an 18.) She's feeling a little less godlike at the moment, however, even if she does have some power over Gargul himself.

Pressi shakes it off. "Uh, well from what I could see of Tink, I'm sure she's doing fine. Not really in much need of... any help that we could give them. Anyway, that tearing noise... isn't really an issue for them...."

With everyone more or less stable, she uses her standard action to shift into youth mode, and prepares her chain. Whatever is coming, she's going to have to engage it in melee (and remember that she has no reach weapons yet). She yells at Murphy that now might be a good time to get back, seeing as how he's already done his near Thursday's death.

Harper continues to whimper in the back, not knowing what is going on, but at least she is no longer shaken (fear effects are disabled when the object you fear is no longer a threat) or blind (I think it's been 4 rounds, but haven't really tracked).
