Recognizing what they are facing Emrys calls out a warning about the toxic cloud they can produce. In response Barratore and Brom each hold their breath as they approach the Viper Vines. Brom charges red landing a mighty blow just as a series of Velarin’s magic missiles slam into the creature. Not to be out done Barratore moves to the opposite side and lands a devastating blow on the blue creature. Excited to use his new bow Edson sends three arrows racing off into the swamp. Sir Royston moves closer to Broms target and hits it with a bold of black energy sapping its strength. Tishe flys up into the air in hopes of avoiding the toxic cloud.

{ooc: I am going to say the toxic cloud does not extend up very high.}

The blue vine attempts to bite and grab Barratore with its vines. {Hit: 26 / 29 / 40 Dam: 10 Grab: 28)

The red vine attacks Brom in the same way. {Hit: 28/32/39 Dam: 9/6 Grab: 44}

Along with these attacks the blue and red Viper Vines release a toxic cloud surrounding the closest attackers. {ooc: Green on map} They are holding their breath so there is a reduced chance of being effected. Roll d100 fifty-one up you are fine forty-nine down DC24 Will save. Failure Highlight to display spoiler: { All creatures in the cloud must succeed on a DC 24 Will saving throw each round or become captivated. Once a creature becomes captivated, it takes no actions save to approach the viper vine via the most direct route possible. If this path leads it into a dangerous area, such as through fire or off a cliff, that creature receives a second saving throw to end the effect before moving into peril. A victim that is attacked by the viper vine gets a new saving throw as a free action during each of the vine's attacks to overcome the effect. This is a mind-affecting effect. The save DC is Constitution-based. }

The yellow viper vine holds its position while the green moves down ten feet towards Deamon.

NOTE:
Even though this will be a will save I am using the rule on holding breath vs poision.  Highlight to display spoiler: { creature holding its breath receives a 50% chance of not having to make a Fortitude save each round. See the rules for holding your breath and suffocation. If a creature is holding its breath and fails the constitution check to continue doing so, rather than suffocating it begins to breathe normally again (and is subject to the effects of the inhaled poison if still in the area). }

Holding his Breath does not end up helping Barratore, but his desire for self preservation servers him well.

The damage from the vine was superficial and Barratore's shield foils the plants attempt to gain a hold of him.

Daemon gets a little nervous .. he senses that he is being targeted for dinner.

"Emrysss, do you mind?" he says as he slithers to the other side of his master.

Emrys turns to the green viper vine. After a magical flourish he commands, "That will be enough of that! You will keep to yourself and bother no one!"

Brom manages to not breath in the toxic gas (must be from standing down wind from Barratore all the time).

He now launches his own attacks against the plant. He would normally shout some statement to the thing, but for now he can only think instead...and it sounds really cool in his head.

Sir Royston chuckles. "What luck! Seems I stopped just in the nick of time!" He makes a series of intricate hand gestures, mumbles an incantation, and points again at the viper vine. "Ag kod!" (scorching ray, standard action). He then takes a short step back, which seems prudent given the poisonous cloud is mere inches from his nose (5-foot-step)..

ooc: a little confuse...Brom has been grabbed by the plant, yes? It says you can attack with a -2 penalty, but you cannot do anything that uses two hands. Does that mean you can only attack with a one handed weapon? I'll change my post if needed.

{Brom: Yes you can only use one hand weapons. For the interest of game flow and because I am just reading this now I will let it pass this round. Next time we will keep it in mind.}

Edson launches off several arrows and two of them find there mark in the yellow plant burning into its body. Getting space Velarin flies up into the air out of harms way.

With a chuckle about his luck at stopping where he did Sir Royston launches multiple rays of fire at the red viper vine. All of them hit and several patches blister and darken as small bits fall off the badly damaged plant.

Tishe’ focuses her attention on the green plant and summons forth a sphere of energy to hold it in place. Unfortunately the plant is too fast for her and is not captured. Emrys, doing what only spell casters who don’t have to choose spells ahead of time can, calls forth the perfect spell at the perfect time and commands the green viper vine to not attack. {Will: 21} The plant freezes in place effectively removed form combat.

Barratore’s attempt to hold his breath fails but his mind is strong and not effected by the gas cloud. He swings over and over landing two hits on the vine and causing green sap to flow form several wounds.

Despite being grappled Brom manages to get both hands free and swings, learning you can crit plants in the process. Combined with Sir Royston’s spells it is enough damage to kill the red plant. The cloud of poison remains.

Finally the sound of food is to much and the yellow plant starts moving down towards the main group.

The blue plant continues its battle with Barratore despite getting the worst of things and lashes out with its bite and all of its tentacles {Hit: 36/35/30/24/22} but none of its attacks land.

Toshe’s Spell didn’t work, but Emrys took the issue well enough. Looking around, the Spellweaver finds that no one is in dire staights, and so continues to hover and watch the battle.

"That's a good vine," he tells the submissive plant for following his orders. He steps forward 30ft to get a better look at the yellow viper vine in the distance. Daemon follows closely behind him. He considers his next move. He notices that Tishe is content to let the gardeners do their pruning. Emrys is too. He gives the area a good looking over for other dangers.

Daemon says, "Thank yous, death by ssalad jusst ssoundss humiliating."

Sir Royston takes a deep breath as he presses his palms together in front of him, then lets the air from his lungs in a single vigorous exhalation at the same time as he flings his arms outward. A heartbeat later, wings erupt from his back -- leathery dragon wings with golden scales. He takes the air, climbing for height.

{ooc: Having a dice roller problem on this page so I made my rolls in the DM Board. Not sure what is going on}

Finding himself without an opponent Brom strides off though the marsh to meet the oncoming yellow Viper Vine head on. Edson does his part by burring two more arrows in the yellow vine before Brom gets there.

Seeing her spell fail but Emrys take care of her target Tishe’ hovers in place and watches the battle. Edson sooths the vine he has commanded and moves forward to get a better look at the yellow vine. Sweat drips in his eyes so he does not see much however he can see the water near where the yellow vine had been stirring a bit.

Sir Royston takes a moment to transform, growing wings, and moving into the air. Being the most proactive caster at the moment Velarin ascends to forty feet and lets lose with lighting bolt at Barratores target. The plant is numble {Ref: 26} and only takes partial damage. This is, however, enough to put the creature down.

Velarin killing [/b] Barratores [/b] target is probably a very good thing because the Minotaur accidently inhalls and becomes captivated.

Where some of you had previously seen movement the water stirs again and two more viper vines emerge from the water moving towards the party. The yellow vine also moves forward releasing its own toxic cloud around Brom. {ooc: assuming you are still holding your breath same things apply}

The yellow vine, moving into reach of Brom attempts to bite the barbarian. {Hit: 38 | Dam: 14+11 acid} Its maw digs into the Broms flesh.

Barratore shakes his head, clearing his mind from the effects of the recently deceased plant. With more than a bit of irritation at being effected by the plants cloud, he decides to take the matter up with the nearby pink plant. He hasted moves to the pink plant, and takes a swing. He takes a deep breath on the way, with the intention of having to hold it for a bit.

Looking upon the vines that need pruning, he decides to give Brom a little help since he is outnumbered. Emrys invokes the power of the root, reaching out and touching the yellow viper vine from 60ft away. A cold, black aura of necromancy swirls about the plant.

Another plant creature appears before Brom and he starts to get excited...then he takes a breath...and becomes captivated by the toxins. Calling on his maddening rage, Brom manages to clear his head just as the toxins begin to take affect (using Clear Mind rage power to reroll a failed Will save. DC 29)

Taking upon the opportunity, Brom steps into the Green plant and attacks.

“More creatures!”, Tishe’ calls as two more very agile vines erupt from the water. “This Many flesh-eating creatures so close to that village makes me worried about any people around.”

Brom is about to be beset by three creatures at once, so the Sorceress springs into action! Flying forward and nearly flanking Royston, She Quickens a Scorching Ray, targeting the Yellow Vine, then centers a Freezing Sphere between Yellow and Pink Vines, causing cold damage and freezing the swamp water Solid!

Clearing his head and irritated at being effected Barratore steps up and takes a hard swing at the pink plant. Probably for the best he also holds his breath.

Velarin summons a ball of fire that engulfs the yellow and blue plant. The blue plant is trickier of the two and manages do duck partially under water to avoid the full damage. {Ref 29/16} Moving forward Emrys decides to give Brom a little help and attempts to bestow a curse on the yellow vine. He just manages to connect but the vine is of hearty stock. {Fort: 30} {ooc: dose save negate or reduce?}

Brom is excited by the arrival of another plant creature, so much so he takes a breath. The chemicals in the air start to take effect but he eventually manages to shake them off and attacks the lt. blue plant. {ooc: Assuming that is the target you wanted.} Sir Royston flaps forward and again unleashes three rays of scorching heat. All three rays slam into the yellow viper vine.

Tishe calls out as more vines erupt from the water. Seeing Brom beset she springs into action flying forward and firing off scorcing rays at the yellow and then casting freezing sphere between the two vines. The yellow vine sizzles from the heat and the cold drops it dead as it takes the full brunt of the attack. The pink vine manages to avoid some of the damage but is still trapped in the ice.

Not surprisingly Barratore again finds himself in a cloud of spore filled air. He knows the scent too well and attempts to hold his breath as the plant attacks with all it has. You could think it was upset about the deaths of the other viper vines but that is just anthropomorphizing as it bites and whips. Its bite and four vines all miss their target. {Hit: 25/23/35/23/36}

Brom is safe from the vines as the creature cannot break out of the ice. He is however still in a spore cloud.

(Is Tishe's hit points really only 51 points? I don't recall her taking damage in this combat.)

IF Tishe is actually wounded then he will invoke ancient, eldritch powers that warp the fabric of space. If done incorrectly, he could unravel reality and destroy all existence. Thankfully it was one of his other aspects that fumbled with their thread of fate. He didn't care for him that much anyway.

(Casting Cure Critical Wounds on Tishe, empowered by Spiritual Healing and Reach Spell Feat. Range: 65 ft. Cures 4d12+16: 8+12+10+12+16 = 58 healing to Tishe ... I mistakenly rolled d10's instead of d12's, so I added +2 to each roll.)

IF Tishe isn't wounded ... he will continue to look and listen for other dangers in the area. (Perception: 36)

Tishe’ sees Brom strike down his plant and Royston(hopefully) damaged the pink one. With Barratorre bearing down on the last combative plant, Tishe’ , nary a scratch on her, hovers and waits for the Minotaur to finish it off.

Just in case, she delays, weaving Magic Missles if Pinky is still somehow standing on its roots.

{ooc: Sorry guys. Totally forgot it was Friday today, I had the day off. Please kill this last plant}

Emrys is momentarily surprised by the hardiness of the viper vine. Looking around he is concerned about Tishe’s health and readies to cast a spell if she is really hurt. He also looks for other dangers but finds none. His eye does catch on the very close village where he still sees light in at least two windows.

Brom continues making salad chopping and chopping and eventually bringing down the plant creature in front of him.

Seeing Broms opponent fall Sir Royston fires off more scorching rays at the remaining viper vine. His three blasts all hit the plant causing blisters and burns on its body. Barratore follows Roystons lead and lands one mighty blow on the plant that does not bring it down.

Edson fires off three arrows but none of them manage to hit their target. Tishe’ sees that the plant did not fall under the assault of Barratore and launches a series of magic missiles at the remaining plant. The missiles strike true and much to everyone dismay, particularly the GM, the plant is still up right.

The remaining plant attempts to bite Barratore but, once again, his armor is just to thick and it accomplishes nothing.

Tishe’ readies a spell but does not cast waiting to see if her beefy companions have things in hand. Like Tishe’ Sir Royston conserves his magics and waits to see what happens. Velarin choses not to participate.

Somewhere the fates laugh as Brom inhales and is captivated by the sent of the plants. He moves with deliberate strides towards the remaining vine. Barratore, possibly worred that Brom will finish his kill unleashes multiple blows slicing the creature in half. Over the next eighteen seconds the toxic cloud dissipates.

The remaining plant is compelled to not act and stands, alone, in the swamp.

Seeing the Vipee Vine down Edson calls out "Everyone okay?" while Emrys add’s [b] “"Ah, I see the flickers of light in some of the windows. Let try not to trample their garden too much, shall we?"

"Oh goodness ... we lost Brom to the pollen!"


The area is still and a search shows up nothing of value or interest on the fallen viper vines. Any past prey has been digested gear and all it would seem, that or they lived on mosquitos. Wouldn’t it be a shame if all the Keepers just did was remove the towns protection from air born insects?

It is dark as you move forward to the outskirts of the small village. The houses are dilapidated and leaning though still habitable in a pinch. The four of the five buildings are one story and the fifth is two. As you approach you again see lights in the two story building in one of the windows and a silhouette can be seen briefly. It appears that your battle was not heard but that is not a surprise, there was some distance between you.

The sounds of the swamp has returned to the normal chirp of crickets and croak of frogs. The group is just outside of town.

Barratore snorts to clear his lungs and nostrils of the pollen and sheathes his sword and then stows his shield. Just outside the village he chuckles at V's comment, "Absolutely, nothing says not scary like us in the dark. How about I give a big bellowing Hallo?" Before they move forward, he goes over to the viper vine he commanded and tells him, "Hey there my viney fellow. Be glad I have a fondness for vipers. You may eat all the little bugs, rodents, birds and squirmy, creeping things to your heart's desire. I don't wish for you to go hungry over the next few weeks .. and you no longer need to share with the others."

Sir Royston asks about the remaining viper vine prompting Emrys to give it some simple commands. He reports back to the others that it is his to command for the next few weeks and it may serve a function for the village.

Brom stares off at… who knows.

" Snorting to celar his lungs and nostrils Barratore stows his sword and shield before suggesting that a friendly face, specifically Tishe’, go say hello. Edson seems to like the idea of someone else doing the talking, fearing they will find him annoying.

Barratore looks over at Tishe, "Ta Da!" he sings Barratore sighs, he could think of one other reason the lights went out, bad guys up to no good. So draw steel and possibly really make the villagers need to change their pants, or don't and possibly let bad guys get the drop.

Unbeknownst to Tishe’, she is thinking the same thing as Barratorre; the lights going out could be cautious villagers or cautious slavers. Which makes it important to be cautious adventurers! She nods at Velarin’s plan, accepting a Darkvision spell from the wand.

The sorceress still has her Fly spell working, and so gets close to the wall and rises into the air so she can’t see into the window, but can touch the window. And looks in...

Barratore, assuming the worst, draws his steel and waits. His impulse to go in sword ready is tempered by the desire to wait for his teammates. Edson also made nervous by the disappearance of the light steps to the side and blends into the shadows.

Showing more patients then his fellow sword weilder Brom sugges that they bed down for the night and make introductions. Sir Royston would like to check if the other houses are occupied thinking to squat in one of them rather then sleeping in the open.

Velarin informs the others “Fine. I will take a peek.” and ask Tishe’ to join him which she does. He uses a wand to grant them both darkvision and flies to take a look in the window, approaching form the side not straightforward. Tishe’ rises into the air to where she cannot quite see but can touch the window.

Those that flew up see nothing and the swamp is still very quiet. Very quiet

Not QUIET as the wail of an woman is heard as three figures move into view. These similar looking ghostly elven women glide through the air, long hair flowing around their faces which are twisted with rage. One, glowing red, moved though the walls and trees of the house you are in front of and reaches to touch Barratore with a clumsy hand that still manages to connect as negative energy rips though the body of the minotaur. {Hit Touc: 28 | Dam: 50 | DC23 Will – Failure you cower in fear for 1d3 rounds. Mind effecting effect}

The red banshee moved directly towards Sir Royston arms outstretched and connects with a devastating strike. {Hit Touch: 46 | Crit Confirm: 31 | Damage: 63 | Crit Damage: 42 | DC23 Will – Failure you cower in fear for 1d3 rounds. Mind effecting effect}

Low wailing now fills the air and what you thought would be a nice nights rest is now a horror show.

Tishe’ isn’t far from Barratorre, only hovering in the air, and makes it more difficult to be surprised through a wall by taking the expediency of hovering over the big Minotaur. She’s not well-versed in undead lore, but will call out any knowledge she remembers to the group.

She is a master of her own magic, however, and that means she knows force weapons are not impaired by incorpoability! Targeting Barratorre’s opponent (or Brom or Emrys in that order if previous already dead), she casts Magic Misssle, and Quickened Magic Missle again!

Velarin flies to D20, 10' off the ground, and uses his rod of quickening to throw a very fast haste spell, centered on Barratore, which should make everyone hasted. Barratore lands a single attack as the banshees move in but it does not seem to do its full damage to the incorporeal creature. His blow connects but does not stop the banshee from connecting. He shakes off the creatures magic and activates a ghost touch ability before striking hard at his attacker. Brom steps in and finishes the banshee as, of course, his weapon can hit them with ease.

Sir Royston opts for discretion and moves away from the attacking banshess. {ooc: I just moved you straight north a bunch. If you have an exact spot in mind let me know.}

First Velarin moves to the east staying 10ft off the ground and casts haste on the party. Velarin then fires off a bolt of lighting hitting both of the remaining targets though only the first seems to do full damage as the red creature slid a bit to the side. {Ref: 24/30} As the bolts his he thinks about what he knows about banshees. Some information pops to mind, beyond them being undead and incorporeal. They are excellent flyers, can sense where the living are by their heartbeat and can let out a terrible wail. The wail can make it harder to to resist fear. {ooc: You didn’t beat it by much so I only give you some stuff}

Having a large number of spells at his disposal and no need to prepare ahead of time Emrys, again, has the perfect spell for the situation making him the envy of every wizard. Sadly for him this creature has a stronger will then the previous plant and shakes off the mental attack. {Will: 34}

On the ground Edson steps to his left and fires connecting with two flaming arrows that do some damage to the red banshee. {ooc: half damage is correct}

Tishe’ fires off two sets of magic missiles at the remaining, uncontrolled, banshee while remembering what she can about these creatures. Tishe’ can recall little other then they are banshees and undead.

The red banshees watches Sir Royston fly off furry contorting what were probably beautiful features in life. As she glares she sinks down INTO the ground and is lost form sight. Please note red is not dead, just below ground level

The blue banshees face contorts into even greater rage as she fights off Emrys attack. Her mouth opens and an unearthly wail fills the area around her. The sound buffets all within 40ft to the banshee making their stomachs queasy. Velarin, Edson, Emrs and Daemon are all shaken to their core by the noise. {ooc: See below} {ooc: Anyone who enters that area must also make the save}

Emrys becomes sickened by the banshee's wail ... just barely able to avoid the full brunt of its effects. Daemon isn't so lucky ... he begins to convulse and contort before collapsing the ground motionless.

Tishe’ is worried about the Bann Sidhe that slipped beneath the earth; it didn’t look hurt nor scared enough to quit the fight just yet, so she hovers barely above Barratorre and reaches her hands into her Pants O Plenty, removing them with her finger cymbals attached.

Humming a staccato counterpoint, she begins snapping her fingers into a dischord of tinny sound, hopefully interfering with the sound-based attack of the incorporeal enemy!

Emrys barely manages to shake off the effects of the banshees ungodly wail but his familiar is not so lucky. Daimen convulses and collapses motionless and unbreathing under the assault. Driven by grief and survival instinct Emrys casts a spell to heal himself and brings Daemon back to life! As the snake stirs both banshess howl with rage, you can even hear the one below ground somehow, as their vengeance on the living is taken form them.

Fighting though the sonic attack Barratore moves in and deliver a might blow to the creature with his magic weapon weapons that can also touch incorporeal beigns. Sir Royston moves another sixty feet away and launches more magic missiles at the creature that is still above ground.

Edson begins to wretch but manages to overcome the damage form the banshees attack and buries an arrow into the creatures ghostly fourm. Velarin also manages to overcome the effects of the wail though it was a close call. He flies up and sends his own barrage of magic missiles striking the wounded but still present banshee.

Tishe’, worried about the banshee under the ground, hovers above Barratores head and begins playing her cymbals and humming a staccato counterpoint hoping to interfere with future sound base attacks.

The wounded blue banshee quickly withdraws also moving below the ground and away from attacks.

The red banshee, clearly furious slips above ground behind Emrys who has just taken its victory and attempts to touch him yet again. {Hit: 41 | Dan: 49 | DC23 Will – Failure you cower in fear for 1d3 rounds. Mind effecting effect} A hint of a smile crosses the banshees enraged face as her hands makes contact and a ghostly voice can be heard. “Denyer! Betrayer! I will have my revenge on you witch thing.”

Emrys isn't fearful from the banshee's cold touch, but it's damage causes him to lose consciousness. As he falls to the ground, before his mind falls into darkness, he gives the banshee an inappropriate hand gesture.

Daemon, still a bit groggy from his return to the land of the living, covers Emrys using his body as a shield. He hisses and shows the banshee his fangs. He strikes at the banshee, with a healthy dose of venom ... which is useless against the undead.

V calls down to the others "I think we need a bit of a plan on this one. Edson, If you can see to Emrys with some potions, it will allow Tishe' to keep playing. Brom and Barratore, if you split yourselves on opposite sides of the group, one of you should be able to get a shot in when it reappears, and Royston and I can send it some magic missiles to greet it as well. If it doesn't appear in the near future, I will summon an earth elemental to go look for it."

Barratore and Brom quickly move in and finish off the red banshee, each landing blows. The halts a groggy Daemon’s[ /]b move to attack.

Noding Edson moves towards Emrys and pulls him away form where the last banshee appeared.

All is quiet for a moment, save the beating of Sir Royston hovering in place and waiting.

A few moments later, lets say six seconds, you hear the sound of the banshees’ slow wail {lower case wail not Wail} from behind the building to the north between the main group and the flying Sir Royston. From where you stand it cannot be seen, at present, by anyone other than the dragonkin.

{ooc: Knowledge Checks – Despite the high rolls there is really nothing that you could determine from the comment beyond the basic facts of a banshee. The knowledge that they are creature through betrayal or the act of betraying would be the only context. It would be a fair bet the Emrys was attacked because he revived something the banshee just killed.}

V moves to Emrys, and pours a potion of CMW down his throat for 13 hp.

"Could one of you with healing be so kind as to quickly fix Emrys? The banshee has moved off for the moment. Maybe it will return and maybe it won't. Either way, we need to find it. I doubt it flees, for it has no fear of death, so perhaps there is something we need to see at the place it goes. They are not here by accident, and obviously are nothing to be taken lightly. Something very powerful is at work here, and we need to learn what is going on, and who is behind it. Let us hunt it down, put it to rest, and learn what has happened here. once i have had a chance to rememorize spells, I shall take a moment to send a message to Dulcet, informing her of what we have found, and perhaps she or her people can look into the possible cause or meaning of it all. Either way, they will be warned that something powerful goes bump in the night. Unless one of you has the ability to do that now?"

Velarin, delivers a potion and continues to take charge giving some instructions and delivering some ideas. Brom readies his weapon for attack in case the banshee comes back that way.

Barratore steps forward and pours a position down Emrys throat. Emrys sputters awake and questions his current situation, on the ground under the snake after he further heals himself.

Tishe’ keeps her eyes open and a spell at the ready as she see Siry Royston retreat to the west.

A moment after Sir Royston moves, because he is the only one that could see the banshee, there is a flash of ghostly white as the banshee charges after the flying dragonkin. Arms wide it rushes even as Tishe’ magic missiles slam into it, damaging it but not killing it, it reaches to touch the flying Sir Royston. {Hit vs Touch: 31+2 | Damage: 48 Negative Energy Note: I did not add charge when I rolled.} Despite being tattered and near a final rest it manages to land to again connect for what will likely be its last act.

As Royston let’s fly his Magic Missles and the banshee dissipates into the Lands of Unrest, Tishe’ ceases her syncopated rhythm; the chiming cymbals fall silent.

Continuing to hover, the Sorceress looks about using Velarin’s wand’s Darkvision. “Be careful,” she says in her usual gift of obviousness, “attacking plants and undead means there may be more opponents about the village.”

Several of the Keepers unleash attacks but Edson is quickest and his arrow does the job, the others add insult to the injury tearing the phantasam apart. {ooc: No spells were cast as the arrows did the job.}

Tishe’, seeing the banshee fall issues a word of, probably unneeded, warning while Brom mentally chastises the poor strategy of allowing yourself to be isolated.

As Daemon slithers off Edson slowly gets up speaking to his familiar "I thought I lost you there, I know the ritual to summon you back is rather unpleasant" after the snake responds he addresses the others "I hope those banshee weren't originally the townsfolk! They could possibly return if their souls are shackled to this place."

Emrys prepares to heal Sir Royston and heals him the moment he returns back to the group.

The night is quiet, the appropriate quiet for a night like this not creepy quiet, and now quite dark. From the map you have there should be other towns, not all that far in fact, half a mile maybe. Small like this, just a few buildings each.

With the banshees destroyed, Brom takes the moment to chastise Royston. "Don't do that again." He says to Royston. "I ain't going in front of Gargul again, less it's fer me. Then I guess I ain't got no one ta complain at."

"Of course, Emrys! Of course. Who am I to deny such noble charity?" Sir Royston lands and allows the half-elf to heal him. He uses his own lay on hands to heal any remaining wounds. "A thousand thanks on you and your ancestors." He turns to Brom. "Believe me, Mr. Brom, I had no intention of dying or engaging in reckless heroics. That banshee almost seemed to have a grudge against me. I suggest we continue with caution. Who knows what other nasty surprises await us in this sleepy hamlet?"

He considers for a moment. "Perhaps it is time to draw out any villagers who are still alive? With all of these dangerous beasties, there is little point in allowing them to sleep their way to doom. What is the loudest sound we can make to rouse them? Seems the best way to get to the bottom of this."

Tishe was correct as well and Barratore was not going to sit by where there could be villagers alive in this little nightmare. "Tishe is right and I think we should sweep the hamlet. Brom continues to chastise Sir Royston talking of how he does not want to go before Gargul again any time soon. Sir Royston accepts the healing thanking Emrys and responds to Brom that he had no intention of dying and is surprised by the vehemence with which he was attacked.

Tishe’ questions the lights being turned out upstairs and floats up only to find an empty room. Seeing no potential light source with her darkvison she is left with a minor mystery unless it was simply the movement of a banshees seen though a window.

Several members of the Keepers explore the building that first attracted them and peek into those that did not have movement. If the small hamlet is not empty at this point any occupants are doing an superlative job of hiding. Also everything is old and rotten from weather and age, most likely this area has been abandoned for some time.

As you move into the mansion for your nights sleep some of you will think back to the description of the area you received from Dulcet. Rumors of ancient powers in the hills. Many small villages surrounding an abandoned mine that use to make up the city of Ahmet.

In the morning the abandoned villages looks like nothing more threatening then some rotting buildings. While there are no obvious paths leading into our out of the village you know from your map that the other villages and the abandoned mine should be not far to the north.

Tishe’ is morose, not finding any living villagers, but the morning always some fears. “There haven’t been Noble races here for years. We need to find out what’s been going on to make this area such a dangerous place.”

She shakes her head at
the Dragon Disciple’s offer. “While geared for it, Royston, I recently found out how fragile I am to be a scout away from group support. I will stay close by the others.”

She keeps her senses peeled and is ready to travel.

(Sorry for not continuing my post last night, the couch claimed me and I lost consciousness.)

Early that morning, Emrys activates his cauldron, meditates and reaches into the Shadow Realm for a drop of Woldsblood to replenish his spells. He also performs a basic and intermediate rituals with the help of Daemon and Angus from the cauldron. Using his witchery abilities of Guidance, he completes the Warding and Spiritual Healing rituals.

Tishe’ is morose the next day finding the town in the state it is in. Commenting that there have been no noble races present for some time she wants to find out what has made this area so dangerous. Emrys and Daemon comment on how the town almost transforms in the light of day after doing his morning preparation in the mansion.

Brom and Tishe’ notice, before leaving the town that there may have been a sort of track heading north, something to do with the mine maybe? For mining carts? Velarin cautions the others not to get to spread out as Sir Royston takes to the air to get a better vantage point.

The travel is uneventful, no man eating plants of ectoplasmic specters bother you and after half a mile or so Sir Royston is the first to see up ahead are two small villages about a quarter mile apart. If you were to walk straight you would probably go right between them. Both are small, you would image not the home to more then forty people each. There is movement in both and from the look of it humans and possibly other races make these meager settlements their home. You do not however see any people moving between them as you approach.

From the air Sir Royston can also see that these are not the only small settlements. All fairly close together but seemingly isolate.

Tishe’ is worried about the people, and agrees with Brom. “It won’t take much time and could be invaluable if there is someone in trouble”, says the brown-haired middle-aged woman.

She looks carefully for differences in the terrain compared to the village a day south. Could these smaller hamlets be on higher ground or somehow be a safer vantage than the swampy village?

Barratore agrees and also lends his opinion the the entire group visit each hamlet together. "Wonder if it is at all like the cave people from within Glitterox we met. Very close, but now some cultural thing has caused them to split apart"

The immediate suggestion form Brom is to visit both, at least to see that they are doing ok. Worried about the people Tishe’ agrees saying it wont be much time and could be valuable if there is someone in trouble. Her study also reveals that they are on slightly higher ground, out of the marsh at the very least. Brom again notices traces of once might have been connecting paths.

Barratore wonders if it is at all like the cave people from within Glitterox they had met. Close but something has caused them to split. Edson is sure there will be more screaming elven women but is ok with checking both.

Sir Royston suggest the flip a coin to decide where to go first but checks if anyone uses powers that manipulate luck. Velarin agrees to visit both and dese not deal in luck.

A few more people seem to be moving about from the more western village and the party moves in that direction. As they approach the details of the village become more outlined. Buildings in the style of the area you battled the banshees but in substantially better condition though still badly weathered. There are roughly ten structures though none in this are rise to the grand two stories of the other area. From the distance you see several humans and what you are sure are two half-orcs, three or people visible at anyone time. Clearly they are not use to being approached from the direction you are coming though every now and then one will glance to the east or west where the other small settlements are.

So unexpected is the arrival of well armed people from the marshy south you get quite close and have not been seen. Two males, one half-orc one human, both in workmen’s clothing with facial hair and the look of those that work outside are discussing something quietly in the middle of town.

Barratore has learned through many encounters that being first onto the seen and first to speak is not the in best interest of peaceful beginnings and so he hangs back a good 10' and tries not to be to minotaur like, as V once said. He reminds himself several times that his arms folded across his chest does say, warm and inviting to most of the noble races.
"Go make a bit nice guys. Roy an me will hang back just a bit." He puts an easy hand on Royston's shoulder.

Tishe’ looks Barratorre over appraisingly, but the brown-eyed woman looks puzzled. “Sieur Barratorre is nice enough Royston, but I think the ladies wouldn’t swoon”, she says seriously.

It also takes her a moment to understand why the often exuberant warriors of the group are hanging back, but once the candlestick lights up, Tishe’ moves to take the lead. The middle-aged and average-looking woman gets to a point where she isn’t shouting to be heard and raises a hand to show no weapon.

“Many Shadows, good men”, Tishe’ calls while tucking a stray lock of wavy brown hair behind one ear, “we are travelers from Cinnamon Valley and would like to speak with your village leaders.”

Emrys does wish to intimidate the local folk with his smoldering intensity, so he tries, though difficult, to dial down a notch. He mentally tells Daemon, "Stay close to me and be on your best behavior ... no hissing or talking until they start throwing things at us. One can only imagine how they'd react to a talking viper."

As they approach the village Barratore suggest that the others go make nice while he hangs back. First crossing his arms then reconsidering as he tries to be less himself. Agreeing that they do not want their brute masculinity and smouldering good looks detract form the diplomacy Sir Royston teases his companion before Brom chuckles about his foul smell. Weapons are away as they approach.

Taking what the others mean Tishe’ makes the most of her average appearance and take point. Velarin follows attempting to contain his ‘smolder’. Wisely Emrys cautions the most unusual member of the party, the giant talking viper, to stay close and behave.

Tishe’ approaches “Many Shadows, good men we are travelers from Cinnamon Valley and would like to speak with your village leaders.”

The men, who had stopped and watched the women approach give her a not all together welcoming look. The half-orc speaks while the other simply snorts and walks away muttering “Shadows? Of course there are many shadows the sun is up. Foolishness. Doesn't even give her name.”

“Adventures? Not sure what you want in our small village.” he looks around in the direction of the other settlements “Couple probably sack the town and gather a few gold. One of them others point you this way to be rid of you?”

As he talks he apathy is momentarily disturbed by the sight of Deamon but all he really does is shrug a little.

Brom wasn't surprised by the reactions of the villagers. Tishe's greeting was nice enough but too formal for them. Brom steps forward. "I am Brom of the Keepers of the Vale. We are heading," he points on the direction they are traveling, "We came on your villages and thought we'd see how you faired with all that's happened."

Brom stands and waits for their response.

Tishe’ is startled by the reply: she had been expecting wonder, fright, or joy. Instead, this ... apathy ... it makes her more worried about what horrors the village has been through to not have any emotion at all!

With a worried look on her face, the Spellweaver twists a stray lock of brown hair in her hand. She idly goes through a catalog of magic to see if this could be magically induced. The thought makes her cast a Silent and Still Detect Magic (spell-like ability) to see if there are active magic auras about.

Meanwhile, she keeps waiting and hoping that Brom has a better reaction.

Barratore continues to hang back just and considers whether or not he should start popping his pecks. Brom had his Badge and was a Hero of the WLA at this point, something Barratore would get to next chance that was presented. Barratore suddenly finds a chuckle pop from his mouth as he thought about the reaction to Tishe. So he was not the only one that found her way of speaking odd. The minotaur takes a deep breath and lets it run out through his snout.

Sir Royston furrows his brow in consternation. These villagers were certainly not reacting in the way that he expected. Nonetheless, he knew that he was not the one to speak up if they were to maintain good relations. He crosses his arms and remains silent.

Surprised by the apathy of the respons Tishe’ silently casts detect magic looking for active magic auras but finds none. That removed from the equation she lets Brom talk hoping for a better reaction.

For his part Edson makes sure his hand is near his bow, not liking how Tishe’ was spoken too.

Not wanting to chuckle Barratore deep breath and slowly exhaling thorough his snout thinking he is happy to hear he is not the only one who finds he way of speaking odd.

Sir Royston furrows his brow in consternation as the villagers are not acting in the way he expected. Nonetheless he remains quiet, arms crossed.

Still waiting on further responses Velarin wonders if being a hero of the WLA might mean something out here. Something does not feel right and he looks for anything our of place. Sadly, he comes up empty other than the natural oddness of the location and circumstance.

Less surprised by the reaction of the villager to Tishe’s formal greeting Brom steps forward and tries to restart the conversation. "I am Brom of the Keepers of the Vale. We are heading," he points on the direction they are traveling, "We came on your villages and thought we'd see how you faired with all that's happened."

The half-orc looks Brom up and down and even glances in the direction he is pointing. “So you just walk up to random towns and ask how they are doing, sure, that makes sense.” he scratches his head for a moment “The name is Fiy, Fiy Waim, if it matters to you. I see your badge but you folks feel like trouble. As too all that’s happened? Things happen all the time and we get by as long as those others” he again glances in the directions of the other village “don’t get to close to what is ours. That satisfy you?” he pauses "You looking for someone or something? I don't believe you are just here to 'check on us'."

The person he had been talking too has going into one of the buildings, but you still see a person or two going about their business, what little of it there is. None of them seem like they are going to roll out the proverbial red carpet for the Keepers.

Barratore listens to what the man says and his jaw clenches a bit, but he feels the need to answer. "Dragons and the undead. Dulcet and her coven seem to think a great evil is stirring this way. We're the cure to that Saving your life and those of the rest is the preference, but I'm good to come back and liberate your souls as well."

Barratore gives the man a look over himself, "well met then Fiy. I am Barratore Steelwind of the Starlight clan and we wish you well."

Barratore steps to follow Brom, though he knows some of the others are going to make the exit more weird.

Sir Royston shrugs at the obstinate villagers. "If we are not welcome, we are not welcome. That fellow appears to have a case of the green-eyed monster. It would be best to check your coin-pouch if we meet him again."

Just before leaving, he bends down and intones a quick spell. A small rune flashes into existence in weird blue light, then fades into nothing. "Just an arcane mark. These villagers all look alike." He follows after Brom.

Why the villager is acting the way he is acting flies right over Tishe’s head. THAT he is acting the way he is acting makes her worry if there is something nefarious behind the apathy. Yet, since she can’t figure it out, and the more insightful members of the DefenderPack recommend to go to another village, she goes along.

Noting the dragon disciple’s Arcane Mark, Tishe’ nods. “Very good idea, Sieur Royston, just in case.”

She moves with the others to the adjacent village and tries again to make contact like last time.

With a simple Fine. Maybe yer neighbors’ll be moer friendly” Brom marches off to get to the next village telling the Keepers that they are wasting their time. Velarin agrees "Agreed. If they don't wish to talk, then so be it. Maybe next door will be a little more open to visitors." adding after a short bit "There definitely seems to be a bit of distrust, possibly even animosity or jealousy directed toward their neighbors."

Motivation for Fiy’s actions flies over Tishe’s head but it worries here they may be nefarious motives behind the apathy. She agrees with Sir Roystons adding of the mark.

Surprised that Brom and Barratore didn’t start smashing things Edson nods and follows off commenting on how different the welcome they get in the Valley is. Not caring for the rudeness Emrys does not get any underlying meaning and stop caring about the exchange happy to head out.

Listening to the man Barratore is a little more specific in his questions siting dragons, undead and a great evil stirring. He also offers hs name and clan and wishes the man well. As he leaves the man shrugs mumbeling to himself “They probably sent you over here anyways.”

Moving to the new village the Keepers find a similar sight to what they had witnessed at the last village. It is again a small, weather worn, grouping f buildings, probably enough to hold thirty to fifty people. You see a crude fence has been erected between them and the area you just left. About three feet tall it is simple sticks lashed together, someone even took the time to sharpen one or two of them.

This area has a little bit more of a common area as a very old stone well stands in the center of town. Beside the well a human woman and a half-orc youth, about 10, are filling a bucket and talking quietly. ON the other end of town, behind a building you can hear someone hammering a piece of metal. Occasionally you also see the forum of a cat darting between buildings, clearly hunting vermin.

Finally, as you left one area for another you can see a path leading from each that looks to converge eventually.

The paths that join up and lead away is where the fighter thinks they will eventually end up, but for now. they would see what could be seen here

She has a quiet conversation with Velarin and the other Defenders who may listen in... “The situation doesn’t look immediately dangerous to the villagers, but they may have clues to what may be weaving further up the trail. I don’t like being all shuttlecocked without a reason.”

Walking over Brom considers the situationbetween the two villages thinking it odd. Where they clans that had a falling out? Once they get into the next small village he looks about. Velarin also spots the path and comments "Well, if they are just as friendly as the last town, it looks like we have our path to follow."

Barratore opts not to hang back this time and takes the bull by the horns, so to speak. “"Hallo good woman! We are the Keepers of the Vale. I'm Barratore Steelwind. How are you on this fine day?" As he talks he considers that the paths leading away are where they will eventually end up.

As Barratore makes the introduction Sir Royston whispers "You know, perhaps we should hire a bard. Some gregarious, good-looking fellow to trot a few minutes ahead of us to let people know we are approaching. It might help soften the blow..."

The woman had seen them coming and stopped but the youth was busy filling his pail. When Barratore speaks the half-orc youth drops his bucket and steps behind the woman whispering with a bit of awe “Monster?” The woman started with a bit of a fearful expression but when the boy speaks she softens and answers him quietly. “I don’t think so Jacot and if it was there is nothing we could do.” Lending her voice Tishe’ adds “Please, we would like to speak with your village leaders. Can you help introduce us?”

She looks back to Barratore and then to each of the Keepers in turn clearly at a loss for what to do. After a moment she speaks, keeping the youth behind her. “I am like any other day today, alive and doing my part. You don’t seem to want to cause trouble but you came from the west, did they send you here?” she is clearly not done speaking but quickly says something to the boy, a name you don’t quiet catch, and the boy quickly runs off yelling “Lender, mom wants you!”

“He is getting Lender, our spokesmen for when the towns meet.” she sounds uncomfortable talking to the group “If one of the others didn’t send you to make trouble why are you here? There is little about.”

After a moment and older human male comes around the corner of his building. He wears a leather apron with a butchers knife stuck into a pocket in the front. You would guess, from looking at him, that he was in the process of cleaning a chicken when you arrived. He is in his late 60’s and a little stooped with thin strong arms and a deep voice.

“So what’s this now? You have Jacot all worked up. Speak plain, we have the work of living to do around here. Your not here from one of the others, wouldn’t be so direct I thinik. What brings you to Ahmet?”

Barratore looks at Tishe and then to Lender and then back to Tishe. The fighter does not step forward, there was no need, he could reach the man from where he was standing.

Barratore extends a hand, though he is pretty sure this man, Lender will not take it, but that is not the point. We originally stopped at the small hamlet just over there," he points, "But found little in the way of anything and so now we are here. Something troubles these parts besides Banshees and man eating trees. We are here to help with whatever that might be. No Dragon or giant is too big and no demon or undead too foul. So speak out and be plain about it."

Reminding herself to speak plainly Tishe and in a way more in keeping with the location. “Our pack can help your village if you tell us where you need help. Watching the others speak Edson keeps his trap shut but does respond ot Sir Royston about his idea being good. Velarin opens his mouth to say something but Tishe and Barratore say all that is needed and he closes his mouth. Remaining silent Sir Royston gives a respectful nod of his head while considering ways to advertise that they kill bad things as they find them.

Lender looks at the large hand of the minitour for a moment, considering. Looking like he half expects to lose his had he does extend and meet Barratores grip. “Cinnamon Valley, well we have never had all that much contact, we keep to ourselves. Still we may have been quitter then normal.” he looks over his shoulder a bit an prepares to say more “Banshess, there the ghost things out a bit in the swamp? Been there some time we stay clear, keep to ourselves, and they mostly stay put. If you got rid of them then I guess that earns you some trust and trust is hard to come by out here.”

He pauses for a moment thinking. “There is the mine up to the north that we get some trade with. Dwarves in there are not to be trusted but their work is good. There is a rumor something came out and killed some folks but I don’t know much. The villages, we don’t talk much with any of them, mostly none can be trusted outside our village. We have a meeting spot when the towns need to talk, if you got rid of the banshees maybe its time for a meeting. It takes some work but maybe by tomorrow if the others agree. They may no more about what came out of the mine, unless one of them did it of course.”

Sense Motive DC25 Highlight to display spoiler: { Although more willing to speak, possibly because he was given more information, there is still a feeling of mistrust. This feeling is strongest when Barratore mentions the other villages and when he talks about a gathering spot for the villages. }

The boy, Jacot, is back watching what is going on with interest but when the other villages are mentioned his face grows a little dark. He mutters something under his breath.

Barratore shakes the man hand a couple times and straightens. "Barratore nods as the man speaks, "Yeah, dwarves, the hairy little dirt diggers. If you aint covered in gold, it can be a dangerous and hard conversation with 'em."

The minotaur grins at his own little joke, obviously everyone will realize he's not serious he thinks.

"Something out of the mines huh? Sounds right up our ally. Dulcet did say a darkness. Doesn't get much darker than a mine." Barratore looks over to Tishe, V and Emrys to wrap things up and plot out the actual next move. He felt pretty good about his contribution to the issues.
Seemed so odd to him that such a closely located group of hamlets could have so much distrust among them. Simple safety sake would foster more cooperation one would think. Bad blood probably went back a a bit. Wonder who did what?

Many voices are whispering and buzzing about his mind. It's kept him quiet all this time. For a moment, he even forgot why they were here in the first place.

He can sense the man's mistrust, especially after he mentioned the neighboring towns. He can understand why ... Emrys doesn't trust any of these people! There is something not right here. Maybe a Vision Quest is in order to get some real answers. See it with my own eyes, he thinks.

Daemon looks up at Emrys, able to hear his thoughts. He shakes his head and worries about how this will affect him.

Velarin nods as he listens to show his understanding. "Lender, I must ask about how there is so much distrust among what geographically is a very close set of communities. What was the falling out and despite what Barratore thinks, I
have not found the dwarven people to be of a generally dishonest people. What makes you say such things about them. You must have evidence or facts." Velarin runs a hand through his hair and continues,
"I agree Tishe and with you Lender that a general meeting is in order with the various representatives. We can keep the peace at such a meeting as well as assure everyones safety." Velarin had some other thoughts on teh matter, but does not wish to
speak them aloud in front of Lender. Velarins mind wanders even as he continues to engage Lender in conversation. "Your suggestion good Lender is excellent and as we have taken up some of your valuable time our company is all willing to work or pay for the inconvenience
to you." Perhaps a Telepathic bond made pernament would be just the thing. I shall have to look into it. A Mansion this night will certainly be in order. I shall not rest otherwise and judging from the look on Emrys' face, either would he.
"So good Lender, what price is your time that we might reimburse you by labor or coin?"

Edson doesnt catch any of the innuendo or quiet talk. To him it was just villagers of rival villages not talking. The mine sounded promising.. Barratore was right. Nothing darker than a mine. Finally somewhere he could blend in a lot easier.. but the hu dred tons of stone above didnt sound fun.

Not catching any of the innuendo or quiet talk Edson is encouraged by a dark mine where he can blend in.

Having been distracted by many voices in his head Emrys rejoins what is going on. Not trusting any of these people he understands the mistrust for each other if not the reason. He considers a vision quest to get some answers.

Shaking the mans had a few times Barratore [/]b nods [b] "Yeah, dwarves, the hairy little dirt diggers. If you aint covered in gold, it can be a dangerous and hard conversation with 'em." Grinning at his own joke he contunes more ot his companions "Something out of the mines huh? Sounds right up our ally. Dulcet did say a darkness. Doesn't get much darker than a mine."

Tishe’ looks up at Barratore and then at Velarin for confimraiton before speaking. “I think a Council is a good idea and we can tell if slaying the three banshee and numerous killer vines.”

Also having questions Sir Royston adds "Something came out of the mines, you say? Killed some people? Are the dwarves still there? Are they still working? Communicating with the villages?"

Lender listens to the Keepers nodding and frowning form time to time. At no point would you say his face was warm but he at least is not as overtly hostile as the last town. “I will set up the meeting. As to the mine, well of course its dark its underground but I am sure it is lit in some way.” clearly he missed the subtleties of that part of the conversation “I.. we have only been told something came out of the mine, no idea what. The blasted… sorry the half-orcs that live near the entrance never tell us anything but they will come to the obelisk I think.” He grunts at Velarins offer of coin “No coin. We have an economy that works nothing to buy with a coin really. All you have taken is a few breaths I will set up the meeting as best I can for the morning. Now, unless there are more questions, I will get back to butchering that chicken.”

He doesn’t move to leave quiet yet waiting for any other follow up. If none comes he simply walks away without another comment and clearly no advice on where to stay or if there is even a place, which seems unlikely.

" The blasted?" Edson asks, finally seeing something he can open his mouth for. " is their some animosity with them by the mines?"

Brom just listens to the conversation. Most times too many questions are thrown at the people they talk to. It can be overwhelming for someone not use to that style. Mostly he glances around the village picking up on whatever his eyes can discern.

Brom notes the suspicion from the man. He was not surprised. After he leaves, Brom tells the others "These people trust no one but their own. Doubt we'll get them to open up about much other than the sky is blue and the grass is green. We want them to talk they'll need to accept us."

Unless the group decides to head out right away, Brom is going to go try and find some work to do.

Tishe’ agreed with the barbarian, “And the best way to get them to accept us is to do something they all benefit from; like killing a big monster or opening a common trade route to JarlWolf.”

She has no further questions, and assumes they they will have to camp themselves tonight.

Before they wind down for the evening in Velarin's mystical mansion, Emrys decides he is going to try and divine an answer to all this mysterious secret keeping among the people here. If a darkness has befallen this place, and the fact that banshees and other otherwoldly things roam the night, then something should make itself known.

"By the way," he says to his friends after they're alone, "A mine in a swamp? Certainly if I were to dig a hole, a foot or more deep, it would most certainly fill with water. Are these miners of the aquatic variety?"

Emrys lets the Keepers in on his plans for a divination. He requests at least a few of them to sit in and watch over him while he puts himself in a vulnerable, trance-like state.

Once he and Daemon locate a secluded spot, he takes out his necessary items: cauldron, incense and pieces of ivory with runes of divinity etched into them. He begins to cast a simple, witchy spell (Surrender Blood) that imbues him with extra magical potency at the cost of his own life force. A necromantic hack may put him more in tune with the area ... or draw its attention. He turns rather pale as a result.

(Casting Surrender Blood on Emrys. Boosts Caster Level by +3, causes 20 points of damage.)

He then casts his divination by chanting eldritch words, unknown to most except the truly devoted. He then asks, "What darkness plagues this land?"

(Casting Vision, enhanced by Surrender Blood. Works like Legend Lore, but quicker. Caster Level Check: 31)

Barratore is with Brom, and decides as coin is no good here, he too, would look for something to lend his skills to. Barratore takes his leave and follows Lender, "I can lend a hand with you Lender. If you'll

Velarin nods in responce to Lender and adds with a smile, "Yes of course, mines are dark. Thank you. I am hopeful that the meeting with the half orcs and others will prove helpful to all."
The wizard also has nothing further and creates the Mansion before everyone disperses. Velarin retires to his sanctum.

Sir Royston rubs his chin in thought. "Hmm... good question, Sir Emrys. The water table would certainly flood any mine... but these are not any regular miners. Even just one earth cleric, casting mud to stone, could create a pillar of rock going down to the bedrock. Cast and mine, cast and mine, until you are under the swamp. Perhaps they do not even use miners! They could use stone shape to turn the stone into ingots, then crack them open at the surface! They are an industrious and inventive people. It is no wonder Ffloy favors them."
