Beri has a pen and paper ready as he begins to read about Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man. Before the main character has his aforementioned moniker he didn’t seem that remarkable by his native world standard. He was a ninja who fought crime but there seemed to be a decent amount of ninjas in his world, true not all of them fought crime but organized crime did seem to be a problem.
So much so that he was ambushed by criminals weilding a bunch of strange range weapons while he was riding around in a wheel vehicle that seemed to be almost like a metal version of Dock.
After that he underwent the strange magical procedure that turned him into Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man.
Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man met up with a character named Lazerhawk and a band of barbarians in strange raiment to fight against Dr. Henrichzimmerschneit a villain who has been terrorizing the populace with his robot body and servants.
The rest of the stories seem to detail Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man’s run in with Dr. Henrichzimmerschneit and his robotic servants.
As Tink and Garret continue to explore town they notice a commotion at the riverfront. Large crowds are gathering to look at something floating down the river. Upon approaching the pair can see it’s a large cobbled together looking boat that is absolutely swarming with Kobolds. There must be over a hundred of the things, all crowded onto it like drowning rats clinging to a piece of driftwood. There is no sail, just a jumble of poles and tree branches to push it off anything it catches on.
Currently however none of the Kobolds are manning the poles. They’re all staring up at the crowds that are staring at them. Sense Motive 20 Highlight to display spoiler: { they’re absolutely terrified, at the huge crowd of giants (to them) looking down at them.}
One of them climbs up the the highest point of the ship. A thick cloak covers it, but it throws back the hood revealing itself to all. Golden scales glimmer in the sunlight and it waves it’s staff energetically, almost making it fall off it’s precarious perch.
”WE HAVE COME FOR THE DRAGON!” it yells in a high, screechy voice.
”The Dragon!!” several of the Kobolds chant after their leader.
”THE PROPHESIED ONE!!”
”The prophecy!” they yell
”THE SAVIOR OF THE WOLD! THE DELIVERER!”
”THE SAVIOR!” the other Kobolds scream, caught up in the energy of the speech.
The effect is ruined slightly by the fact that they’re floating past as she speaks. Most of the crowd only hear half of it as they float by, and several children run along the waterside laughing so they can hear the whole thing. The Kobolds continue screaming and chanting about their prophesied one regardless. One burley one, not bothering to join the chanting, struggles to pole the boat towards the edge of the river so they can stop.
Perception 50 Highlight to display spoiler: {it’s hard to tell because they’re a ways off and it’s not like you know kobold physiology well but they seem… underfed. There’s a dull cast to their scales, they seem too thin, and many of them are just lying on the deck crocking out the chants as best they can while otherwise remaining still.}

(Carl wants to play along, and Restlin is out and about, so I'm gonna act like Restlin can notice this kerfuffle. If that's not jake, just let me know and I'll edit.)
Restlin hears mutters of Dragons and Saviors of the Wold, so figures they're probably talking about him and his friends. He stops Bosk with a hand to his chest as his ears pick up more. "Dude, we should go check that out." There's a light in his eyes that hasn't been there recently. He has overland flight active as always, but will cast a fly spell on Bosk if the taur needs it (and wants to join).
He flies up quickly (fly skill is autopass for just about anything in normal conditions) to spot the...kobolds? What the heck are kobolds doing here? He resists the urge to fireball the whole boat long enough to listen.
"The Dragon? There's a bunch of us. Who's *the* dragon?"
Over their shared link...
"Dudes and dudettes, we've got kobolds at the docks. They don't look threatening, but..."
He's so entranced by the sight, that he doesn't notice what dire straights they're in (nat 1 - 38 perception).

When Garret hears them mention wanting "The Dragon," he starts to raise his hand. But when they continue about the savior of the wold he pauses. He says to Tink, "Oh, this does NOT look good. Clearly they've heard something about us, and they think we can provide them something." He watches them float past and wonders where they will end up. With a sigh he says, "But we can't just let them flounder about now, can we?"
He says over the rings, "Folks, kobolds on a boat, floating along without any real control. I think we might need a flying ship down here to help them out before they float out to sea and get lost."

Sister at least matches you in beauty and she is a part of your power but if she is not available then so be it.”
The ship is pulled up to the docks and the gawking crowd backs up as the Kobold leader runs across the boat to be the first one off of it. She looks up at the Dragons and tries to look tall and imposing. She fails miserably.
”WE ARE THE CHOSEN PEOPLE!” she bellows at the top of her lungs. ”the chosen!” the others repeat.
”SERVANTS TO THE GREAT GOLDEN ONE!” (The Gold One!)
”SHE HAS SENT US A VISION TELLING US TO SEEK OUT THE BRONZE ONE (the Bronze One!), THE SAVIOR (the savior!), THE MORTAL DRAGON (the dragon!). WE SHALL NOT LEAVE UNTIL WE SEE HIM AND LEARN OUR MISTRESSES’ PLAN FOR US! (We shall not!)”
While she’s doing all this yelling the burley one is working on the more practical problem of getting everyone off the boat. Over the rings again, "Restlin, you have the mansion available to be cast? or not today? It'd provide food, and get them out of sight. Taking care of two problems at once. DM Mitch Wednesday August 29th, 2018 7:17:45 AM Garret asks Zane over the rings if he was trying to attract an army of weak kobolds and if there was a prophecy about it.
Wyaar is curious to see what is going to happen but realizes this is Zane’s moment so he takes a step backward to watch.
Restlin is not used to being ignored but he takes a seat and watches what happens next.
Beri notices the kobolds are determined little sailors envisioning the rough water they must have dealt with on their way to Hook city.
Zane asks Wyaar to determine how evil the kobolds are and then lets the kobolds know that most of their injuries have been addressed and food and shelter can be arranged. Then he asks the kobolds for more info before asking Restlin if he has another castle to cast as he’d like to get the kobolds out of sight and also asks for someone to intercept Auslander to avoid a potential worse situation.
Bosk tells Restlin something about juggling geese.
The little kobold seems highly insulted at Zane’s offhand assumption that they must be some sort of evil. ”Our tribe has served the Golden one for centuries! We are the chosen few saved from the depravity of our ancestors and we have done nothing to earn your mistrust. How dare you accuse us of being evil the moment you meet us!” Most of the other kobolds looked shocked that she would speak so to their chosen one, cringing and cowering as they bow their heads to the ground.
The burley one, having set down his current burden, walks over. He speaks to the rest of the party in Draconic, ”So you’re friends of the chosen one or something? Look, I don’t really care but could you please stop gawking and get off your asses to help me get everyone off the boat before it sinks? Geez I thought the noble races were supposed to be smart.” He glares equally at the party and at the small crowd of overawed kobolds that should probably be helping but aren’t.
If anyone looks then they can tell that the boat is indeed taking on water. It’s a very slow leak but there are still several dozen kobolds still on the boat, either too weak or to in awe of their chosen one to get off the boat, way to many for the lone kobold to get off before the boat sinks.

Pulling Shiny out of its scabbard, Restlin slices through the air & creates the doorway to his mansion. Zane lets out a high volume whistle (whoooooo-EEEEEE!) and a few Beeps and boops like Dock uses to get his attention, he hopes that the ship will hear him and show up. He also sees the "stone" appear under the Kobold's so called boat. As it does, he walks out on to it and stats picking up remaining kobolds along one arm. When the arm gets full (5 or 6 kobolds most likely) he picks one more up in the other hand. "Even with the healing already given, it looks like these are too weak, probably from lack of food and water as well as drain and damage to their general constitutions from the red Sargrass. I can see the effects on some and they sure aren't as resilient as most of us. I may need to go to the catacombs again for a few dozen restoration potions..... Oh, and thanks Restlin." Zane says as he nudges open the doorway in mid-air fully open and takes his armload into the sitting room. To the rest of the Kobolds, [b]"The rest of you, follow me in here, you can stay the rest of the day here, that will give us time to make further arrangements. And I'm still waiting for an explanation about needing to see me?"

Beri addressed Bosk over the ring. Would that be Wardd and Kerracles... as much as I want to call you a liar, that honestly sounds like something Wardd would do. Beri looks at the ship and find a suitable empty container. He then pulls out his sustaining spoon and proceeds to fill it with a nourishing, if somewhat bland, gruel. I'm afraid I don't have enough for everyone, but hopefully this will help those most in need feeling a little better.
ooc: The spoon can produce enough food to feed four humans a day. x3 meals, and with kobolds being about 40 pounds it should feed a good number of them

DM Mitch Thursday August 30th, 2018 8:36:43 AM Tink nods to Zane and then goes off to find Auslander to make sure noone rushes the kobolds.
Restlin asks Bosk to show him the geese juggling after they take care of the Kevintar situation and then uses shiny to create a doorway to his mansion and creates a stone column to support the Kobold’s vessel and keep it from sinking.
Sesha says goodbye to her coven and goes to join the others. She whirls on Restlin when she gets there accusing him of collecting kobolds.
Wyaar detects evil on the crowd and reports back to Zane over the rings.
Garret joins Tink in looking for Auslander since the halfling figures Auslander will have some paperwork related to a kobold landing to attend to.
Zane grabs some of the weakest kobolds and heads into Restlin’s mansion encouraging the rest to follow him there as well.
Beri whips out his sustaining spoon and starts creating gruel to help the weakest kobolds have something at least to eat.
The burley kobold manages to avoid falling over and glares at Restlin. The leader bows deeply. ”Many thanks friend of the Bronze one. Come my people, let us take shelter in this strange portal.”
Between the party and a bunch of the Kobolds actually helping out now they get everyone inside. As the troop in Wyarr gets a good look at all of them with his detect evil. None of them register. That’s to be expected with most of them, as they’re too weak to show any kind of aura, but it’s safe to say that the leader and maybe the burley one should be strong enough to register something if they were evil. They do not.
The Kobolds seemed awe by the castle in a floating hole in the air. As they enter many of them stop and stand around gawking until the burly one yells at them to get out of the way for the rest of the group. Once the entire group is settled and eating (this place comes with food doesn’t it?), the weakest mostly eating the gruel from the spoon, the main two go off to the side to talk with the party some more.
Introductions finally happen. The leader introduces herself as Saasraa and the burly male is Kip. Saasraa is calm and collected, seemingly unsurprised by the extra-dimensional space. Kip tries to look unimpressed, but his eyes bug out a little and he keeps glancing around at the huge space in either suspicion or wonder.
”You must have many questions about who we are and how we came here. I will explain as best I can.”

Then, he gets to cleaning. He prestidigitizes each and every kobold, freshening them up as best he's able. He doesn't know what a kobold is supposed to smell like, so he's not sure if he's doing a good job, but he tries!

As everyone enters the magical mansion you hear someone in the distance shout, “What’s all this then?!?” before the portal closes. Sounds like Auslander was late to the party. You’ll prolly be able to fill him in as to the situation afterwards.
Sesha stealthily sniffs the air having never met a kobold before and having heard they smelled. She can’t tell if it is the kobolds or Garret she is smelling.
Garret walks by with some meat on a stick as Sesha checks out the Kobolds.
Zane grabs an ale, introduces himself and asks for an explanation.
Wyaar informs that the kobolds don’t detect as evil over the rings.
Beri settles in with some food and a comfy chair to listen to the story.
Restlin starts up a car- no kobold wash. He mostly succeeds in cleaning them, though he also frightens many of them who are not use to magical invisible forces cleaning them without warning. A few see it coming and try to run or sneak past him.
Bosk listens in over the rings while getting his WLA training.
Tink keep a close eye on the Kobolds.
Saasraa pauses and considers for several moments. ”I suppose the best place to start is with a short history lesson. Long ago our tribe was like many Kobold tribes. Craven, envious creatures that hated the other races for their prosperity while lacking the courage or determination to truly advance their lot in life.”
Kip jumps in, commenting ”Other tribes don’t like us, I wonder why?”
Ignoring him, Saasraa continues, ”Then one day a great golden dragon appeared before us. She saw in us the potential to be more than we were and sought to lead us to greatness.”
”Or she took pity on us. Or she was bored.” that comment earned a glare from Saasraa.
”We were chosen.” she insists. ”She grew to love us as her own as we loved her as our goddess! She stayed with us for generations and even upon leaving us she chose many of us to be her priests and continue to guide us!” She gets more animated as she speaks, making grandiose gestures and falling back into her preachy speech pattern from back on the boat.
Kip makes a conciliatory gesture. ”Sure. Whatever you say. We’re getting off topic though, you were explaining why we left remember?”
”Right.” She has to think a minute to remember what she was talking about. ”Anyways, so we grew and we prospered for hundreds of years. Then several months ago everything fell apart. The first warnings were wild animal attacks. Creatures fleeing in panic into our caves, many maddened by some strange disease..”
”You don’t usually get stampedes underground.” Kip adds wryly.
”The scouts we sent above the surface didn’t return. No one was sure what to do. Then a strange red grass started sweeping down the caves, somehow growing into the very stone. Any who touched it or were bitten by the animals became infected with the same disease and became dangerous, lashing out at anyone uninfected and spreading it further. It was utter chaos.”
For once Kip doesn’t have a sarcastic aside. ”It was horrible. Friends, family, even pets, all dead or driven mad. A red tide that blocked all the exits.”
Both stop speaking for several moments, overcome by the memories. Saasraa continues.
”I sent all of the power granted to me by the goddess at the grass, but nothing worked. I became infected myself and lost all track of time.”
Kip picks up the story. ”Now I ain’t all that religious, but I owned a boat I fished the underground rivers in and when the preisthood failed people turned the docks for refuge. Fishing’s never been a big pastime of our people so all of our tiny fishing boats were swamped with survivors and a couple of them drag along the High Priestess here all tied up and ranting and raving about who knows what. I take her in and we buckle down praying for something to come along and save us before the animals or the grass finished the job.”
”At some point in my delirium I was granted a vision by our Goddess. A great city on the water. A battle against a bloodred god. A figure stood out, one with bronze wings that became a dragon as he fought. A voice spoke: Find the Bronze One. He will save you.”
Kip looks uncomfortable. ”I don’t know about that. All I knew is that we were all going to die there unless we did something. I was already thinking about heading downriver and hoping the grass wasn’t waiting for us above ground. When her minders told me she had started screaming about salvation waiting for us downriver It convinced enough of the others to help me cannibalize everything wooden we had to make that monster we sailed in on.”
He shakes his head sadly. ”Even with all the wood on the docks, including taking apart the docks, the ship only fit about half of us. Some volunteered to stay. Others were too ill or injured. Many panicked and fought to get aboard when we left. Those we didn’t cut down with our own hands were left to die.”
May the Golden one shelter their souls.” Saasraa says quietly, head bowed.
More died on the trip. With so many we could barely feed ourselves. We had everyone who knew how to fish dangling lines day and night, but there was over a hundred of us. At least a dozen starved. Once we got back above ground my other fear proved true. The grass surrounded the river on both sides. Maddened animals attacked the boat. The only meat available was infected. Already starving, we were desperate enough to eat it. It seemed hopeless.”
Saasraa picks up the tale again. ”I was to lost in the disease to know all this was happening of course. The next thing I knew I woke up and felt fine. I ached in every bone and I was incredibly weak, but the pain and the madness had fled. The disease was gone. I looked to my side and saw others, scared and weak, but also cured. It was a miracle. The Golden One had granted us deliverance.”
Kip snorts, but looks thoughtful. ”Well something did. The red grass was gone. The animals stopped attacking. Few of us were strong enough to do much. I gathered those that were and we nursed the rest back to health as best we could. Our boat had run aground while we were all delirious, but we managed to repair it. We had no idea where we were or how to get back home, if there was even a home left to go back to.”
”Kip’s efforts were invaluable.” Saasraa says, smiling at him. ”Were it not for him we would have died even though we were healed of the disease. I shared my vision with the others and we continued downstream trusting to our goddess to have guided us correctly. And thus we came here. We are bereft of everything Zane Stormfront. We place ourselves at your mercy. Are you the deliverance my vision showed me? Will you take us in, the lost children of the Golden One?”

Zane listens to the story and the side story from both Saasraa and Kip. He leans back a little and considers options.... Kicking them to the curb is out, what kind of hero would he be if he did that. Domi would be severely disappointed in him to boot. Heck his old instructors at the monastery would travel to Hook City just beat him around the ears for behavior like that. They obviously are in desperate need or they'd still be back in their cavern subsisting and living the life they had. He takes a semi-deep breath and then starts to speak. "I will of course render what aid I can, I'm fairly sure the other Iron Dragons will as well. After surviving all of that what else could I do but the help. This magical castle will last for a few hours to start. It also sounds like you'd prefer to be underground for a home, I also have an idea about that, but I"ll need to speak with the rest of the Iron Dragons about that Idea. I'll also see that your ship will repaired and safe and moored as well where you can get to it. Why don't you all get settled in here for the rest of the day, enjoy the food provided. It'll help bolster the tribe with health, at least for today."
Over the rings, Remember when we designed the Tower, I insisted in the underground Stables as well as the warehouse storage for whatever else we needed. We can easily convert the stable area to a "Den" or whatever they want. We just supply some lumber or whatever they need and they can move in. We can then find them permanent place or maybe some of them can work the group, we do need a full time crew keeping the tower looking proper for visitors coming to see the Iron Dragons. Heck, Kip might even prove useful running Starblazer helping out around the City an for any errands we might need. Starblazer might be smart, but not like Dock, he still needs directions to get anywhere. Zane has a few other ideas, but too much at once will overwhelm people....

Zane considers what Kip and Saasraa have to say before telling the assembled Kobolds they can stay in the magical mansion temporarily but he needs to consult with the other dragons as to a more permanent solution. He then talks to the other Dragons over the rings about converting parts of their underground area into a den or something for the Kobolds.
Wyaar is glad their reputation has spread far and wide and then chimes in over the rings that if the Kobolds are trustworthy he is not opposed to that.

Zane opines over the rings that he sees no reason to deny the Kobolds request. He points out they aren’t evil but that he is bothered by the whole “prophecy of the bronze one bit.” He asks the others about keeping them in the basement. Lastly he decides to pick up a barrel of something strong to have on hand should similar situations arise in the future.
Beri agrees with Zane pointing out they had people sneak in through the basement in the past so having extra eyes shouldn’t hurt.
Wyaar is curious to see how the city will react to the new citizens and what paperwork may be involved.
Restlin points out that Auslander is probably not going to be happy but he doesn’t think the request to let the kobolds stay will be outright denied. It should be interesting to watch at least
Sesha tries to figure out what type of foodstuffs and what quantities they’ll need to keep on hand to feed the kobolds. She also wonders if Garret will enjoy kobold food.
Garret explains to the others how many kobolds he counted and raises concerns about their stables not having enough room.
Zane points out they gained space when they adjusted their tower upon becoming dragons.
Beri brings up the fact they have the ability to further adjust the tower as needed.
Wyaar is leery about adjusting the tower and insists you’ll find the space.
The kobolds are eager to bed down for the night for some much needed rest in a fairly safe place so the dragons can exit the mansion and talk with Auslander.
When the dragons finally meet up with Auslander outside the interdimensional mansion portal you see some work crews pulling the kobolds “vessel” out to the harbor and a mage lowering the stone wall back into the sea. Auslander calls out, “I say what is all this then?!?”
“Unlicensed use of stone walls to create a boat dock and a ship docked in a zone not designated for docking. The stone will have to be moved back into position and the ship scuttled as it isn’t worth the work it would take to salvage it. Plus what do I hear about an army of kobolds disappearing with you the Iron Dragons into the thin air? I’m not quite sure what the Hook City charter has to say about creation of a standing army of ignoble creatures but then again you are members of the dragon consortium and thusly knights at large so you are probably entitled to special dispensation. I might have to talk to the city magistrate to sort this one out or perhaps the high court but that could take a long time. Unless of course a Justiciar like Katinka might be able to help me sort this out in some sort of way that makes sense under existing interpretation of the law. I do have one question though, and it is oi mates you got a license for them disappearing kobolds?”

If the stone hadn't been created, the so called boat would have sunk. there by killing all of the Kobolds and that would have polluted the river. We just prevented another disaster. Ushering them into the Magical Mansion was a way to prevent a disturbance and cause a commotion which would surely lead to civil disobedience, thus we prevented yet another problem for the City while clean up is still going on. By the way, how is our new friend, Dock doing in assisting the City in recovering? Now, as to the kobolds, they are refugees from the same Problems that Hook City just endured. They may be small but they are not like other Dragon-kin of their type, they worship a Gold Dragon and have some sort of Hero Worship about The Bronze One. Unfortunately for me, they assume that means Myself. We plan on moving them into the Iron Dragon Tower, and trying to put them to work for us. So I expect we will need to get them registered as new citizens of Hook City. You don't have a Scribe with you so we can fill out around 170 registration forms do you? It'd be good to get started sooner than later on all of that paper work. Oh, and don't scuttle that boat, I'll see about getting it fixed, sentimental reasons for one of the Kobolds, I assure you. I'll cover the mooring fees of course."

Well met Auslander. It just so happens that these kobolds have asked to serve a member of the Iron Dragons, and we absolutely have our paperwork in order as a registered organization, as an official adventuring group, and as permanent residents of this city. We also have secondary, transferable documentation allowing passage into the city from before we became residents.
Oh, we also are officially recognized as the representatives for those living outside the city walls who are needed to come in and work within the city since the Chit machine got sick, a need that's grown exponentially since the last attack.

A funny story about the problem of disappearing kobolds (DM Hugh) Wednesday September 5th, 2018 10:48:25 PM
Bosk tells the others he will be there soon over the rings.
Zane explains the urgency of the situation with the Kobolds, asks for their boat to be preserved and for a scribe to be sent for so they can start processing paperwork.
Restlin also points out the fact the kobolds were in danger and their oath demanded they act.
Garret asks if a form for licensing disappearing kobolds really exists.
Restlin speculates about a Teucri artifact that produces any type of form that may be needed for whatever situation may come up.
Sesha opines that she’s fine with another artificat as long as she doesn’t have to merge minds and kill it too.
Beri produces just about every relevant document they have to the situation at hand explaining how each one fits in with what just happened.
Wyaar wonders how many acolytes spend their days healing papercuts for the bureaucrats.
When you’ve all had your say Auslander laughs and says, “A teucri artifact that could print any legal document one could ever want? Do tell us if you come across something like that in your travels it would be extremely useful.” Auslander then sorts through Beri’s presented paperwork hemming, hawing and nodding to himself before he finally answers Garret’s question,” Well it’s a funny and old story you see back in the day post one of the ascensions Hook City, the city of magic had a number of magic acts involving disappearing kobolds. Apparently making the little buggers disappear was all the rage among some circles, but I digress. We also started having burglaries where witnesses described seeing disappearing kobolds fleeing crime scenes with other people’s personally property before vanishing into thin air. One needed not be a grand magus to see a potential correlation between the kobold vanishing magic acts and the increase in crime so the city council came together and passed ordnance 13458 dash b stroke c on the licensing of kobolds which have the capabilities to disappear. As I said an old law but a law nonetheless, then again is the vanishing an artifact of one of your spells or some innate power all their own, it seems like the law was a little vague when it came to kobolds that couldn’t vanish under their own power. Seeing as you have all these other documents detailing your status and the fact that these kobolds would appear to become ancillary members of your own organization it would appear that these kobolds would be accepted under sub paragraph g clause d of amendment x passed by the honorable Fenwick Copplebottom regarding non magic using liveried kobold servants of high level wizards. The only exclusion would be if any of said kobolds is able to make itself disappear or invoke any other troubling high level magicks then it would need its own license just on the off chance we have any burglaries involving a disappearing kobold or some such nonsense. Does that seem fair? Oh by the way that Dock creature is it is working out fine in assisting in the rebuilding efforts.”

Garret falls asleep listening to the inspector.
Beri remarks that the disappearing kobold scheme was clever until they tried to do it in Hook City. He assures Auslander that they’ll make sure if any of the Kobolds are of the disappearing variety they will be properly registered.
Tink says she’ll look them over to check for any unusual abilities.
Auslander says, “I’ll stop by the tower tomorrow to see how the kobolds are settling in and meet their elders. Since everything seems to be in order I will see you tomorrow.” He then takes his leave.

Garret asks Auslander for a permit in order to sleep on the docks.
Bosk adds accommodations to the tower for the kobolds.
Wyaar heads back to the tower to do some reading.
Zane asks if Dock has the power to craft ships out of the pieces of an older ship and specifies he doesn’t want a flying ship. He also asks if the construct is being taxed too much.
Restlin tells Sesha he is to train in dance and asks her to do so with him.
Beri informs the kobolds of their conversation with the Inspector and that any disappearing kobolds will have to fill out additional paperwork.
Tink asks the Kobolds if they know how to do anything that might help the people of Hook city.
Dock informs Zane through a series of chirps that it can potentially do as Zane requests but the construct is no shipwright so it might not turn out exactly right. It also informs him it could easily move parts and tools for an actual shipwright if that might make more sense.
Auslander gives Garret a slip of paper and says, “Don’t think anyone would bother you for sleeping on the docks considering who you are, but it is nice of you to ask for the permit to do so.”
The day ends with the dragons going about their various businesses and then returning to their tower. The next morning they are visited by Auslander who is most impressed with the newly constructed digs for the Kobolds.
It isn’t long after Auslander leaves that Agatha knocks on the door Sprocket in toe, “I have made a breakthrough!” she exclaims...

“Based on the readings Sprocket and I are getting from our instruments the other side of portal gives off readings like nowhere in the Wold.”
“The good news is we at least know it is similar to the Wold in that it is relatively temperature in both clime and breathable air and it doesn’t appear the place the portal leads to does something like constantly fill you with any elemental, positive or negative energy. If the books came from the same place that that construct/undead hybrid came from then it may be worth it to travel there even if the way back isn’t guaranteed. We could always figure that out later after we’ve secured the needed aid.”

So, a whole new world. One with sentient constructs...that sounds pretty neat, but would his magic even work there? Would *any* magic work there? What if these were based on mechanical engineering rather than arcane? So many unknowns, but it was their best lead.
So many questions. Unstable portals were never ok, so far as he was concerned. There were nearly infinite possible locations a portal could shunt you, especially when dealing with inter-dimensional travel. He decides to start there.
"What do you mean, unstable? Does it not stay open reliably? Does the egress point move around?"

Beri scratches his head and thinks over the findings. Well, given our choices I'm inclined to agree that the portal is the best option. We have to get to that construct, and as of right now this is the only option we have. At least we know it's safe to breathe.
You said that the other side of portal gives off readings like nowhere in the Wold. Can you tell us what specifically is different in your readings? Are you saying that we may not be going to another version of the World like the other portals took us to, but to another realm entirely? If so, anything yo can tell us about how magic may be affected would help, especially if you can tell us what types of magic may be affected.
Oh, and nothing indicating magic threads will be following us right?

DM Mitch Tuesday September 11th, 2018 7:22:08 AM Tink worries about the gate being two way.
Garret waits for Restlin’s input.
Restlin asks for more details about how unstable it is and what that means.
Zane wonders what the Kobolds can do to help and remembers he needed to talk to Dock.
Wyarr smiles and nods along.
Sesha is concerned about if her magic would work in another world.
Beri thinks that the portal is probably their best option.
Bosk suggests they stock up on scrolls that might be able to get them home.
Agatha tries to allay Tink and Restlin’s concerns. “The portal is currently closed, so nothing can come through it but when we open it again we don’t think things can come through it. As far as the portal being unstable, it won’t stay reliably open long. We can probably keep it open enough to get to the other side but after that we have to find another way back.”
When Zane brings up Dock Agatha says, “It would be best if you could bring him, we think we could possibly use him to establish a second portal back from the other side.”
Agatha says to Sesha, “Half my magic comes from Woldsblood and I have difficulty with certain schools because I am a seer so I am leery about going too. However maybe we can find something on the other side to replace some of our magic with.”
Agatha says to Beri, “Where we are going is not the lost elven city, there will be no sentient magical threads. I’m not sure if there is magic as we know it in this new world, honestly. When I said this place gives off odd readings I mean it doesn’t give off any school of magic, nor traces of arcane, divine or Woldsblood. The Wold is a very magical place so even places that are fairly mundane have a certain amount of background magic, but this new place emits nothing.”

The druid frowns as Agatha relays her findings. The new land might be safe, but it is far from ideal for him. No magic, that puts me in a bit of a bind. Add to that the strong likelihood of no transformation and no summons, and it's not a scenario I'm particularly fond of. Wyaar asks if they’ll have no magic themselves in the world that has no magic and points out that arrows should still fly at least. He suggests they start preparing.
Beri frowns when hearing about Agatha’s report. He wonders if the lack of magic translates into no summoning or wildshaping and agrees with Wyaar that they need to be prepared.
Zane asks if the casters won’t be able to cast and if Dock is made out of full magic wouldn’t that mean that taking him along would be a death sentence.
Agatha says, “Well one of two things will happen when we go through the portal either we lose magic entirely or we are the only beings in that world with magic. We think that since we can establish the portal which is itself magic that it isn’t that the world we are venturing into is a giant antimagic field or anything it just doesn’t have much naturally occuring magic. They say in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king well if everyone on the other side is “blind” to magic then we become one eyed men and kings. Presumably we should be able to carry our some magic items with us that the residents of the destination could not possibly have nor be able to counter. I suppose as an experiment we could try to make a pact with an outsider and have it verify that it can actually travel to the other side of the portal and back without being banished to is own plane. If the outsider can enter the portal and remain on the other side for any period of time that would imply that the world on the other side of the portal isn’t outright anti-magical.”
She then says,”As to how we should begin, you should all gather at our lab with whatever you want to bring with you as well as any of the books you borrowed. Sprocket and I will calibrate the portal machine and once we have the portal as stable as we can make it we can decide if we just want to take the plunge or bargain with an outsider to test theories concerning this new world. Does that sound like a plan?”

Tink suggests using a number of divination spells to see what might be coming round the bend. (OOC: What spells do you want to cast?)
Sesha says that she wouldn’t know what to ask Serenbeth. She points out they are planning to go to a neutral place so they don’t know if anything is waiting for them on the other side. She says she can plan for most of her magic to not do much good and make sure to have some potions for the team.
Garret is ready to go as soon as Restlin is. He thinks about how he is close to becoming an outsider and wonders if other dimensions have meat on a stick.
Restlin checks out when the others mention divination and asks Garret to help him pack.
Garret goes with Restlin to help him pick his allowed items for the luck quest, though disappointed in the lack of food he reaches out with a greasy palm and selects items for Restlin.
Beri shakes Agatha’s hand and thanks her for her work before returning to help get the kobold settled in.
Zane goes to ask Dock if it would like to join them fully explaining everything the dragons know and the danger’s that Dock might face.
Bosk starts making a list of things they might need
Dock chimes to Zane in a way that seems to indicate consent but it also seems to have some concern for its bulky form especially if it is supposed to take part in some sort of ritual. It says something about Restlin maybe being able to give it a temporary bipedal form.
Agatha says to Beri, “Well to give us the best chance of success don’t forget to bring all the books you borrowed and Dock.” She then leaves with Sprocket in tow, presumably to make last minute preparations of her own.

Metamagic rod, quicken Metamagic rod, maximize Amulet of natural armor +5 Ring of evasion and lastly his detectivin' cap.
"Good choices, dude. Very good."
He gathers the items Garret chose, leaving most of the rest behind. He grabs his spellbook, his ring of protection (his arcane bond), and Shiny (legacy item - does not count against luck quest items per Cayzle's description).
He places a scroll of greater teleport and the heal potion Sesha made him months (if not years) ago on a table in his room.

Bosk finishes making his purchases in the Catacombs when a familiar voice calls out behind him. Heading out already?
Turning around Bosk notices Sanj, one of his first friends in Mudtown and former Iron Adventurer. Last he had seen the young rogue she was working with Hemust and Jillian, former (repentant) Noodle gang members, who ran the groups old shop and now work at Five Mile House. Things are going well for us, and we want to make sure the peace is maintained in both Hook City and Three Mile while you are gone. We figure no one will mess with us if we have your backing, and we can help keep an eye on things for you and pass along any information we here. I've gathered together a network of those loyal to you... her hand drifts to her dagger as she adds, just remember, we are your crew, not some lackeys or gaga fan club. Let it go to your head and I will pluck that idea right out.
Bosk smiles as he looks the group over. Sanji did a good job in finding those he could trust. Behind her are to Brodery Family the Iron Adventurer's sponsored to Hook City after their daughter was killed by assasins. They run “Brodery Apothecary” in Iron Tower Square. Jimbim, now the eldest is, an expert herbalist and supplier of Bosk's poisons. Clarissa, the eldest sister an expert alchemist. Katherine and Billy Boy (Youngsters), and the ever moody Gat. This was formerly Heather Brorderys' family (she was a cleric of The Edge before she died, the first spirit Bosk advanced as an Avenger, one of her eyes was removed and is now the eye in the center of Bosk's forehead).
To their left stands Temujin, a doppleganger with memory loss (now restored) that had an ilithad larva put in his brain that he himself cut out causing the brain damage. He (unknowingly) took on the persona of a druid he was in contact with and helped hut down the illithid occultists responsible for killing previously mentioned druid... and next to him stands a young un-named witch the IA saved from the Manfri and their own tribe in the Sargrass after it was discovered she was a witch. She now trains under Magister Alistair with former party member Maikill. Next to her stand Toby and Rachel, young kids in Hook City that snuck among the group and cut off some of Zeoll's fur to create a fishing lure in order to attempt catching a giant goldfish.
On the other side of the group is Barnacle Jane, a tall and beautiful woman with flowing red hair and captain of Calypso's Cry, known for the unusually high number of women sailors it employed...well not so much the number of women as the captain's willingness and ability to take in young women with little or no skill and make them some of the finest sailors on Rum. Beside her stands Ceri, a large golden haired taur with ivory white horns. Quite large, at over eight feet (including the horns), Ceri is an impressive figure. Two bastard swords long as a man cross her back, the hilts carved into sets of silver minotaur horns and you have little doubt that the Captain is more than capable of dual wielding the massive blades. (Former Captain of the WLA in Run that I believe was later replaced. Both these are NPCs I created for that game.)
Interspaced between them are several others BOsk has next on his many journies. The first is young half-elf appearing to be no more than thirteen, only her eyes reveal the many years she has wandered the Wold with no more than her crossbow to protect her Alley Cat (The Wild Side Tap),. The other is a gnomish witch, his uniform clearly marking him as a student at Maplehurst Academy. His stained hands easily identify him as an alchemist in trainingRoonwinkle (Maplehurst Academy Tap. Next he spots a shirtless dwarf whose gray beard is singed Boomy (Retired from The Forged). Richard Goodspeed of Wardd's Temple (former runner of the Woldian Lotto). Towards the back he can just make out a well dressed halfling with light brown hair and light skin steps out. His face is scarred on the right side, as are both of his hands. Napalm (Hellmarr Tap).

Once more into the breach... (DM Hugh) Monday September 17th, 2018 11:09:51 PM Restlin asks Dock what it had in mind. Dock chimes something about worrying that if it isn’t in a construct form wouldn’t it negatively affect the ritual? It also says something about worrying the giant construct things from the other dimension are too big and asks if it could be made some sort of medium humanoid-shaped construct so as better to travel with the party. The mage-priest then changes into his detective cap and simple adventuring outfit.
Garret has to make a pit stop before they go.

Zane shows up with a mace and asks who wants to hold it. Garret wonders if they got a weapon no one can use, but Bosk claims it.
Tink thinks martial training might be useful in a place with different magic but it might be too late to learn how to use it.
Bosk finds himself approached by a group of old allies seeking his blessing to guard the city in the Dragon’s name while they’re gone.
Garret asks if a weapon was purchased that no one can use and then suggests giving it to Bosk.
Zane talks about how his fists are more appropriate than the mace and how he fights as a dragon more often than not.
Sesha thinks that Bosk having it is appropriate.
Beri opines he’s not a manufactured weapon melee fighter.

He slowly looks up from his device to see you standing there and does a double take before saying, "“I have to hand it to you, that is the best entrance I’ve ever seen. So how’d you do your trick? Also neat Iron Dragons costumes and that is high praise coming from me considering I invented the characters. Well except for the golem and the star mage but when you have a large group of friends not everyone can cosplay as the heroes. I take it you all want an autograph?” he asks.

Beri thinks back to when Bosk talked of such a game and starts to piece together what might be happening. Is it possible that this universe and created the Wold, while Bosk in kind created this universe? Or did this author write himself into the Wold the way one would expect any Marvel-ous creator to have a role in the world they created? In any case, if this man created the Wold then his autograph could well be a thing of Power when the return to the magic of the Wold he created. The druid finds himself addressing the man in a manner similar to how he's addressed many of the Powers of the Wold that's he's been privileged enough to meet... barring the time Gargul smacked him around.
To ask the divine creator to autograph a dusty tome makes sense for one who's days are spent indoors among books, but alas I am an adventurer and am seldom in granted such reprieve. If I have found favor in you that such words of divine power should to be gifted to me, I humbly ask that they be inscribed upon my cloak of resistance so that as I venture across the Wold all will know that the great Chuck Vonnegut has got my back.

Restlin tries to cast a spell and a few things happen at the same time; a whirring noise starts emanating from Agatha's backpack; any spells or abilities triggered previously immediately take effect, all the messages sent over the rings come over the rings at the same time and Zane's quiver opens.
Agatha says, "The magic field projector works! the only problem is I don't know how long it will last so I might have to turn it off again unless you guys need some spells. Sprocket came up with this gem in case we really didn't have magic and needed to open a portal. Beri's pack has one too."

Wyaar is glad they didn’t have to tie Chuck up and asks Agatha is she has a way of testing dimensional signals with her.

Over the link Beri responds to Zane. I would assume it is enough of a link. With the books we were trying to open a portal with something already removed and relocated to our dimension. Here we have a live, direct link that we can verify is correctly tuned. The real question is whether we can copy the frequency, but it looks like Agatha is a few steps ahead of us on that already.
Beri listens to the repeating message, the voice seems convincing enough.
Well, whether it's an indy radio station really is from another dimension, it sounds like they could use some help. Restlin makes little air quotes, even though he's communicating over the ring.
Anyway, this guy should probably get out of their way for a bit. "Thank you for your hospitality, Chuck. We're gonna put you to sleep now and try to save our world. When you wake up, you should really have that gold Bosk gave you checked out (sense motive autopass), then write his story. He's earned a good solo novel."
Restlin casts sleep on Chuck. It's been a long time since that spell's been useful! Save VS DC 28 or he goes nighty night.

Well, hopefully we'll see that magic still works. Otherwise, we'll just have to fight the odds and help our Robo Ninja. Either way, we're not about to turn our backs on a call for help. Keep an ear on that Radio thing of yours, assuming they accept our help this is sure to be an interesting broadcast.

If the man is our to sleep Bosk asks the others, Did Starblazer have the ability to go to other planes? Could he help us?
DM Mitch Wednesday September 26th, 2018 7:58:42 AM
Tink asks if they should take Chuck with them.
Restlin opines they have plenty of guidebooks and that some of the group has read the books he then puts Chuck to sleep.
Garret is incredulous about needing another portal to another place and wonders if they will be sliding indefinitely.
Zane suggests Chuck might make a good anchor.
Beri is worried the rings aren’t working. He suggests the sleeping Chuck keep an eye on the radio.
Wyaar says more story ideas should be available.
Bosk wonders if Starblazer could help.
Agatha fires a ray from her backpack at the device Chuck was fiddling with and a portal starts to open. She says, “I don’t think we’ll have too long with this one being open so you’d better hurry and if we are taking him,” nodding to the sleeping Chuck, “someone better grab him.”
She takes the backpack off and it is kind of leaning on a stand like setup and grabs the grapple from the pack as she starts approaching the portal. “I’m going to try to pull it from the other side, but if that doesn’t work, I’ll need the spare pack.”

Tink hurriedly tries to grab a book or two on the Robo guy. It's possible they may have some inside info that may come in handy. She would like to have read the IA books but time doesn't look to be with them.
Once she has a couple of the books she too jumps into the portal.

Restlin must be missing something about the value of taking Chuck. He lets the man sleep and hops through the portal.

Sesha looks wearily at this machine Agatha built, hoping her trust wasn't misplaced. In the Wold she was Matron-In-Waiting of an entire house. Obviously she'd end up ruling whatever world they ended up in, but she'd rather not start at the beginning again.
She heads through the portal.

Knowing that they may never return here, Beri makes one quick glance around the shop to make sure there is nothing important the need to bring. He then head through the portal with the others, ready for any dangers that may be waiting for him on the other side,.

The Iron Dragons enter yet another portal picking up some books and Chuck along the way. Beri grabs both the black mirror device Chuck was pressing buttons on and the pronged cord plugged into the wall before entering the portal.
Wherever you were before shifts and the party finds itself in a blasted wasteland sparsely dotted with some sort of metal wreckage or sickly trees in a few places. Agatha manages to pull the backpack through the portal before it shuts completely.
“I’m glad that worked, I wonder if we are in Mega Cyber Robo Ninja Man’s world or somewhere else?” Agatha says.

Restlin pops off a quick detect magic, wondering if his spells worked here.
"Guess hoping we'd get a friendly welcoming committee was a bit too much to ask for. Dock, can you still fly here? It'd probably help to look around from up there. I'm not sure how safe that is to do away from Agatha's device, though."
Zane (JCC) AC 31, CMB 22, CMD 38, HP 268/268, Blindsense 60' Character Thursday September 27th, 2018 12:59:40 PM "Not sure about Dock, but considering I hardly ever hide my wings any more, want me to scout a bit? Beri examines the mirror device, then puts it safely in his bag of holding so it won't break. Hmm, before the portal took us exactly where we had zoned in on. I wonder if that means that whoever was sending that message asking for help is very close.
The druid looks over the landscape, making sure that whatever blasted this area before isn't about to strike again. He also looks for the source of the radio broadcast, and the Robo Ninja... and anything else noteworthy in this waste land.
