Dorbin says, "Of course we'll help. How many are there?"
Nightshade answers, "Alot, I'd say an entire community is on the move toward us."
Zanderallen agrees to the Lizard Folk's land claim. He resoundingly offers to stand with the Lizard Folk.
Dirk also agrees to help.
Stock is still somewhat stunned by the craftsmanship he saw this morning. He probably mentions the skill level of the artisan to the rest of the shields. He is clearly over-joyed at the thought of facing a horde of hobgoblins. Stock asks "Are they a constant problem? Do they often come threaten you with a horde?"
Slythyl responds, "No, we have never encountered such before. Though in the last few months many things have been coming down from the mountains. I was optimistic that it was just the influx of wildlife and such into the forest."
Micah is a chagrined about his misunderstanding about Slaguah, but pleased to have obtained what he was truly after: a better understanding of Slagauh's power. Micah is proud to hear the Silver Shields step and shield another group of innocents. Micah questions Nightshade. "In addition to their number, how quickly are they traveling?" Nightshade responds, "Again I can't be sure of the number, well over 100. They will be here within the hour."
"Do they appear to have a baggage train?" Nightshade responds, "I could not tell. Maybe further back in the horde."
"Do they have outriders?" Nightshade responds, "Some."
"What about siege equipment?" Nightshade responds, "None that I could see. And I doubt they could get it through the forest. And further, not at the speed they were moving (normal unencumbered speed)."
"How are they armed?" Nightshade responds, "Well armed, much metal."
"Is there any sign of a command post or officers?" Nightshade responds, "I assume there are commanders, there is not post, they are on the move."
"Do they seem to be heading this way?" Nightshade responds, "Yes."
"If so, they appear to know of this village?" Nightshade responds, "I'm not sure, it may be we are just on their route. But it is more likely they are moving with intent."
"Do they have any beasts or other creatures with them: dogs, wolves, horses, or something else?" Nightshade responds, "Yes, I've not see the like. Several are riding a four-legged animal with a long-horned, bovine head looks like a cross between a horse and a long-haired yak."
Micah addresses the council. "What is your standard response to such a threat? How would you have us help?" responds, " Elderberry responds, [b]"We have no standard way to respond to this, it has never happened before. But I would recommend a division of forces to guard all the gates. I and the warriors can take the north gate. Slythyl can defend the eastern gate, which will probably face the bulk of the enemy." Slagauh quickly cuts in. "I can cover the western gate, where they will undoubtedly try to sneak around and come in." Elderberry gives Slagauh a look and turns to you,"I have heard much of your prowess in attacking the Trolls and the Hags. Can you protect the southern gateway?"
Stohp sits and watches.

As a whole the council is much impressed with the Silver Shields, with the possible exception of Slagauh. In essence you will have 45 minutes to prepare before you need to be in your position. You will have 5 rounds after that.
Please state what coordinates you wish to start at character wise. I recommend you think of this as tower defense. There may be waves, there may be an all out attack. You will be dealing with flankers, so they will be coming from the south (bottom) of the map. The main battle will be away from you. You might hear things.

Bartomus didn't learn much, but did get a sense of the place. The folk had found a place that met their needs and that happened to be Druidic. He liked it, and the folk reminded him of those that had adopted him years ago.
When he wandared back to the others, and heard of the coming attack, he watched as Micah became the general on the field asking for information so that the response would be most effective.
"Any concerns about a little fire or lightening even? Maybe see if we can lure them into a trap if the numbers aren't too many?" He offered from the back. He continued to listen and nodded that he was in on the defense of the South Gate. "Do the folk have anything that we can splash about quickly outside the gate some distance? Use it to light a fire and such as a welcome light to our soon to be guests?"
He followed along to the wall and gate taking a position near the gate itself (s9).

Hearing the hobgoblins are less than an hour away Zanderallen hurries back to their lodgings, and with assistance from a party member suits up in his plate mail. Sticking around he helps Micah into his plate before heading to the southern gate. He takes up a position just in front of the gate. "Call down the powers of the heavens by all means Bart. The goblinoid races always seem to bring trouble with them, and they are threatening our new friends." ---------------------- Standing guard at W14

Stock forces himself to calm down a bit and listen about the coming !fun!. When the riders are mentioned he scratches his chin and tries to think if he's heard of beasts like that before. He retreats to the party's chambers with the other armored warriors and puts on his breastplate. He also examines the scratch marks from the hags and is happy to see that they appear completely healed.
He then joins Zanderallen at the gate. He calls to Dirk and says, "Hey, new guy! You might want to be closer to the gate."
Looking out straight ahead he says to Zanderallen, "You know my people hate hobgoblins, right? I don't take pleasure in killing, usually but somethings...they are just in your blood." He looks at Zanderallen and then says earnestly, "I hope you don't look at me differently after this fight."

Dorbin looks around with Stock and examines the bush wall. How tall are the bushes? Are they really thick, or could someone walk through them? Is there a way to stand behind them and see the enemy, like a castle wall?
Sid admires their work and they talk shop. Sid has not claimed or been given the title of Master in his craft, and acts with proper deference to his betters as a Journeyman. Noticing the need he goes, "You know, I've seen the lack of game in the woods and I think we could help you barter for some good glues on the float. My ladylove deals with our suppliers and I'm sure she could help find what you need."
Sid makes his way to the council meeting and nods in agreement, "Of course we'll stay, we're too pigheaded not to."

As everyone tropes outside the gate and readies for combat Stohp looks on confused. "Um, isn't the idea behind having a gate so that you can stand on one side and shoot people so they can't shoot back?
She inspects the hedges and tries to figure out if she can shoot over them or if the gate has spaces to shoot through. If not she'll grumble about poor defense planning and join the rest outside; otherwise she stays on the opposite side of the gate and gets out her tanglefoot bags so she can mess up anyone who tries to force it.

Micah is not happy about Slaguah being on his own, but is ready to render aid as requested.
After arming, he tells Zanderallen, "I need some time to pray for additional spells: about 15 minutes. Please explain to the others should it make them uneasy."
To Stock, he says with a smile, "Plan on being large again my friend. Once they come into sight, I will cast it on you."
To Sid, he asks, "How do you feel about a little scouting? It would be useful to get a better idea of how they are arrayed for battle. On the other hand, we need you here and don't want you to get caught. Suggestions?"
He then asks the Shields for their signal whistles. He offers one to Slythyl, Elderberry, and Slaguah as he requests, "If you need reinforcements, blow three short blasts to let the rest of us know. Depending on what is occurring, we may be able to render aid.
[OOC: How far from each other are the gates? Is there a way to keep an eye on Slagauh? Is there a way to ensure that Slythyl is safe--especially from "friendly" fire?]

Bartomus readies for battle. He asks about fire. Slythyl gentle tells Bartomus that unless one controls and monitors fire through attention or magic, lighting fires in a forest is not always a great idea. Plus they don't have anything like that. Let me restate, since it was stated in an earlier post... It is a thick hedge, you cannot see through it, and the thorns appear 1 inch long, and in some places longer. It looks like the hedge is 15 feet high. Unless you are smaller than size small, you are not crawling through the hedge, and if you are smaller you will still take damage from the thorns.
Zanderallen readies for battle.
Stock readies himself for battle. He can barely contain his glee. He thinks the creatures might be a Yzobu. They are pretty stinky. They can gore you, trample you, and stampede.
Dorbin looks at the hedge wall. There's not going to be an easy way through it. And there's no way to stand on top of it...maybe levitate.
Sid offers to get some supplies for the bow makers. Sid positions himself. Row 10 and 11 are inside the hedge. No going there.
Stohp questions why the hedge is made to not really be defendable on the inside.
Micah prays for a short bit and then see's to providing whistles to the other groups. It is a fairly large hedge, after all it is surrounding an entire village, friendly fire will not be an issue, unless someone leaves their post.
The weather has not improved. It is still heavily overcast but rain has not yet arrived. Knowledge Nature 15 Highlight to display spoiler: { It could rain any minute. Probably will be a light thunderstorm.}
Slythyl sees you to the south gate. "This is what you must defend. Oh, the women and children will stay inside and lock the gate. Yes I know that the hedge is not really designed for defense. But you must remember the hedge was originally designed not for defense, but for concealment. Concealment from the forest itself. But since the forest is no longer sentient the magic seems to have faded. I wonder how the two were entwined?" He pauses briefly. "But enough of this we must make ready to defend the grove."
He then wildshapes into a Huge Treant. He looks to you and says "May you always have springtime." He swiftly strides away to the east. I'll just give this to you, you've just seen a level 13 Druid, with the plant domain instead of an animal companion just get ready to leave to lay down a whooping.
Please place yourselves, OUTSIDE, the hedge.
Dorbin you have not declared where you want to be. Bartomus you need to move outside the fence. Micah you need to let me know where you want to be located.
You have 5 rounds of pre-casting spells if you wish. Ranges: You will see them coming. How far do you want them to be out from the hedge, NOT you, but from the HEDGE (it's easier that way) before you start anything?

Bartomus walked to the gate, looked at it, and then walked through taking up a spot on the other side of the gate and its thorny hedge and opposite of Stohp. He looked up at the clouds forming and snickered. "Well now, we may just get a bit of added help from the coming storm. Let's not assume that it will be all bad, Dirk."
Took out three bullets from his pouch and began a simple set of sing song words. He focused his thoughts on the bullets striking targets as he looked out into the woods. When he was done, he looked out. "Stohp, I think I am going to go a bit farther out. Just in case I need some help with a bolt or two, it might be safer."
He walked out to the large tree in front of him.

He notices a piece of...skin? brain?...stuck to his glaive and picks it off, looks at it and flicks it away. He walks over to Bartomus and sees him cast a spell (magic stone). "I guess those rocks are magical now? Neat." He then walks back to his spot next to Z.

Zander has to stop himself from gaping as Slythyl transforms in front of them and walks to his post. He already had a deep respect for the village elder, but he makes a mental note to add physical might and druidic power to the list of reasons to continue in that respect. "Stock I think we can be most useful holding in front of the gate. We are likely to be fighting heavily outnumbered and I prefer to keep our backs to the wall. Everyone else, we will do our best to hold a safe pocket in front of the gate. If you wish to flank watch that you are not overrrun. We are likely to be hard pressed. " Getting the warning that the hobgoblins are nearing Zanderallen intones a couple deep chants. The first over Stock, "There now Domi's protection will make up for your lack of plate.", he says grinning. Protection From Evil on Stock. Dorbin is also amazed at the transformation of the druid. Then he notices that everyone else has already stepped out of the gate. He quickly scampers out the gate, trying not to trip on his robes (to U12). He calls out, "I have a couple of larger area spells that can slow down groups of attackers. I can slow them with tentacles and I can send a storm of ice and snow into an area."

Micah had been concerned that the leader they had developed a positive rapport with might not survive the battle. When Micah sees the demonstration of Slythyl's power, he releases a sigh of relief and focuses on their immediate responsibility.
Despite the turmoil brought by the news of the impending attack, Micah withdraws momentarily to one of the trees near the gate they are to guard. After only a few moments, he is able to achieve the peaceful, meditative state that brings him in close communion with Domi. When he ends his prayer time, the only indication to him of the passing of time is the preparations that have occurred while he was preoccupied.
In response to Stock, he says, "We should start in a forward position. Our primary focus should be do disrupt their command structure. To do that, we must have some maneuvering room.
"Now," he says focusing on spells, "Let us attend to some preparations."
He then casts the following:.
Before the enemy is near. Magic Vestment on himself; duration 7 hours.
When the enemy is near in the following order: Freedom of Movement on Stock; duration 70 minutes. Dorbin slips into the battle area, and warns everybody that he has some area affect spells that can possibly be of help. I'd hit them with the area affect spells at your max distance.
Stohp tries to move directly in front of the door but finds little Dorbin there as well.
Micah casts several spells. For simplicity sack, any spell lasting longer than 5 minutes we won't have to track duration on, if the battle goes that long something has gone horribly wrong. "Thanks," is all he says. He's used to this treatment by now but it's still a lot to process at once. He looks up once the others start to talk about the oncoming horde but can't make anything out yet. He switches his flail to his left hand and grabs a javelin, readying a throw.
"Alright Shields, let's show our new neighbors how we do this!"

Micah explains to Stohp, "We heard a report of beasts being with them. I wanted to know if they were mounted, alone, or accompanied by something else."
He then returns to peering into the rain, consciously reminding himself to relax his grip on the wand he pulled out of his belt.

Copying and pasting Micah's spells as a reminder...have you updated your headers to reflect AC changes? Micah casts several spells. The first group of hobgoblins try to advance stealthily. You must make a perception check to see them. If you have already seen them you must make a perception check of 11. If you have not seen them yet, even if they were pointed out, you must make a perception check of 15 to see them...it's raining and the light is bad. The H hobgoblins are in leather armor and carrying large shields. They may be armed with longswords but do not appear to have them drawn. With each group is a 'ha' a hobgoblin. These goblins are in chain shirts and have wooden shields.
There is another group of hobgoblins further back. This is a new group, Perception 17 to see them Because I'm rolling sucky on their sneak, yes I know I rolled a 12, but I'm adding a 5 modifier for the rain and dim lighting. This second group appears to have three of the variant hobgoblins in chain shirts, however, their shields are slung and they have bows out. With them is another new type of hobgoblin. He is armored in what appears to be hide of some kind, and also has a bow out.
There is a third group of hobgobins trying to sneak in on the far right (east) flank. These are mounted on the Horse/Yaks. Again you need a 18 Perception to see them. They appear to have chain armor, no lance though, but they do have short bows out.
There appears to be another hobgoblin moving around out there. Perception 21. If you see her, you note that she appears to have no armor on.

Dorbin reaches into one of the pockets of his robe and comes out with a small tentacle. He says a few words and throws it through the air. A large pile of squirming and twisting tentacles appear on the battlefield.
OOC: Hobgoblin group #1 perception: 17, success New hobgoblin group perception: 18, success Third group perception: 10, failure Random, unarmored hobgoblin perception: 19, failure I see six groups on the map, so I'm not completely sure which ones Dorbin doesn't see. I'm working on the assumption that the first group is actually all the hobgoblins across the map at row 44, the new group is the ha-s in the middle. So Dorbin spots the big group and the middle group, but not the far east or the solo.
Casting black tentacles at about P44. The tentacles appear in a 20' radius spread so could reach all the hobs from N44 to R44 and up to P42 to P46. The CMB check for this round is a 26 (d20+12). If that beats the CMD of the hobgoblins in the area, they are grappled and suffer 8 (d6+4) damage this round. If they are caught, to escape they need to beat a CMD of 22 (and cannot move until they escape).

Bartomus watchs the hobgoblins and lets loose with a lighting bolt. FYI, targets saves is based on your stats as the caster, not the target. It's 10 + the spell level + your wisdom modifier. Call lighting is a 3rd level spell, your wisdom modifier is +2, so for you, until your wisdom changes, all saves for 3rd level spells YOU cast at someone will be 15. Whether the save applies to reflex, fortitude, or wisdom depends on the spell. The Hobgoblin target fails his save and drops dead from the lighting strike!

The goblins advanced. Bartomus peaked about and saw that another group had advanced at the quick. He realized that the distance was too far for a sling attack, so he looked across the bushes focused on the nearest goblin of the center advance and with his right hand's two fingers made a downward jester pointing at the nearest shield bearing goblin advancing at the singing Dirk.
He then stepped away from the tree towards Dirk as five to one bard did not sound like great odds.

Dorbin looks around the battlefield as he watches the black tentacles twisting and turning. He sees the hobgoblin riders and thinks that they might need to be slowed down a little. He pulls out some dust from a pocket, spits into it in his hand, and waves that in the air. As soon as he does, a massive, blinding sleet storm appears to the side of the battlefield. He calls out, “That’s all I can slow, Silver Shields, brace for impact!”
OOC: Tentacles grapple attempt against hobgoblins currently grappled: 21 (d20+17). If that succeeds, each receives 9 (d6+4) more damage. To escape they need to beat a CMD of 22.
Casting sleet storm. Area is a cylinder with a 40’ radius, 20’ high. Centered on AT19 to catch all the mounted hc things and should go from the edge of the hedge to AT27 (and AL19 to BB19). Driving sleet blocks all sight (even darkvision) within it and causes the ground in the area to be icy. A creature can walk within or through the area of sleet at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Stock likes the spells being cast. Stock can't see much in the sleet storm but he see's some hobgoblin movement and let's fly at last at H6, hitting him It looks like you included the penalties for the ranges, Thumbs UP! The Hobgoblin is impaled and dies!
Dorbin's black tentacle spell kills 3 more hobgoblins. He then casts forth a wintery blast of annoyance for the dm ;)
Micah waits still with the wand in his hand.
Sid launches arrows missing with the first and hitting with the second. The poor Hobgoblin dies.

Group 1 all that is left is the single HA. He breaks free of the grapple and immediately moves. He is now out of the tentacles and behind a tree.

Bartomus felt two of the arrows bite. They were holding their own, but there still foes advancing. He swirled the sling about and let loose the bullet at the nearest hobgoblin. He then took his finger and pulled down a third bolt of lightening at the one at the back of the line that had ordered the bow attack he withstood.
HA4 melee attack 18; damage 8 inclusive of Dorbin's adds. 15 dmg on lightening bolt, relfex save against 15 reduces it by half.

Dorbin surveys the battlefield. He doesn’t like all those arrows coming, but he’s not completely sure if he can shut them down. He flicks his wrist and waves a crystal rod towards the archers. Then a rainbow blob appears in the air around them.

Stock throws another javelin but misses.
Zanderallen is not about to let others have all the fun.
Sid looks for a target. Hd has cover. I'm going to say that if HC can't see out of the sleet storm, you can't see in. He finanlly settles on the hobgoblin he already hit, H8. He hits with one arrow.

The H's, all draw their swords, the blind just sort of stand there, but the ones not blind begin chopping at the hedge where the fire continues to burn for this round. They are making headway...
Ha2 is blind but draws his sword in and tries to protect itself behind it's shield. Ha3 draws his sword and moves to AG13.
The horse/yak riding hobgoblins "hc1 +2" maneuver, they all the yaks made their saves and exit the sleetstorm, the riders appear to have drawn their bastard swords and seem very irked. Their mounts seem rather ill tempered as well. AK17/AL16 and AL15/AM16.
Hc3, which maneuvered around the storm double moves to a new position. AE21/AF22. He too has drawn his sword. He eyes, Dirk, and then he eyes Zanderallen.
The rearward hobgoblins ha4 and ha5 stare into the swirling mass before them.
The hide bound hobgoblin hb1 moves forward and shoots once at Bartomus. To hit 18 which hits Bartomus in his stunned condition -2 to AC and no dex damage 8... I believe Bartomus goes down, this is visible to Sid, Dorbin, and Stock. Bartomus may make a stabilization role.
Ha1 comes out from behind his tree, moving forward and fires one arrow at Dirk. To hit 24, damage 4.
Ha6 moves up and decides to shoot at Micah. To hit 16 misses.
hd moves forward, a single move you're dealing with a hasted monk here. She attempts to sunder Sid's bow. This provokes an AOO, but Sid is armed with a bow and does not have a weapon, unless he has improved unarmed strike attempting to hit hd will provoke. To hit 19, damage 10, p 175, bows have hardness 5 and hp5, not being magical no bonus hardness or hp, the bow is past broken hd then shouts in common, "Where is the challenge in this! Seeing Zanderallen and Stock moving to engage those attacking the hedge, Micah chooses to counter the taunting goblin. As he moves that way draws his mace. Seeing Stohp score with the tanglefoot bag, he bumps it in the air in salute.

Stohp moves You did not specify to where you moved so you end up where I put you and throws a tanglefoot bag, just hitting the target. Stohp if you have reach, and a weapon that in turn will not provoke an AOO, you may take an AOO against hd as she moves. Which you will understand once you read down to her action and see I made her reflex save, I've added this in after the fact.

As the Hobgoblin runs past Stohp she reaches out to sieze the creature. Unfortunately all she gets is a handful of tanglefoot goop (using hero point for +8... nat 1). Undeterred she tries again. If she can pin the thing then she'll have eliminated one of the biggest threats (17 to grapple, might be enough since it's taglefooted).

Dorbin continues to survey the battlefield. He wants to help out the others, but he thinks he needs to help deal with the closest danger first. He snuffs out a small candle and a large, tall, hound archon appears directly behind the mouthy hobgoblin monk. It attacks with a massive greatsword and a bite. Dorbin notes that he has been spotted and pointed out. He decides to move around with the hope that with all the combat going on, they will quickly lose sight of his slight figure. He slides over behind the massive Sid, then runs directly south, ending at least partially hidden by the fallen Bart’s big body.
OOC: Hound Archon (appears at X16) attacking hd hits AC 29 (d20+13, forgot +2 for flanking) for 11 damage (2d6+7); hits AC 12 for bleh; bite hits AC 25 (d20+9) for 11 damage (d8+6).

Realizing the potential breach is their weak point, he summons forth the spider swarm near the group at the hedge. The chittering, writhing spiders quickly advance onto the nearest hobgoblins attacking the wall.
The bard momentarily ceases strumming his lute to pull out a small piece of bone. With resonate words of power he calls out trying to frighten the yaks.
He then resumes his song of encouragement.

Stohp attempts to grapple with the passing hobgoblin, to no avail. Actually as I stated that would have been your AOO from last round, thus you really didn't take an action this round.
Dorbin summons an Archon to do his bidding. Technically the hobgoblin is not large, thus you can only get the flank bonus if directly opposite someone. The archon hits. The magic circle does not apply here except for your +2 to AC and +2 to saves, she is native to this plane, the archon is the outsider. She can attack. Dorbin moeves...[/i]you can't move that far, you cast a spell a standard action, leaving a move action which means 6 squares only...I may be wrong but I don't think you can use stealth if you've already used a standard action in combat... you wind up at S15.[/i]
Dirk starts whipping up some spells. Hordes of tiny spiders appear and attack the hobgoblins. H12 dies. h9 fails his save. He then Scares the yaks...both failed, they are 2HD creatures

Dorbin scrambles around in his robes and comes out with a vial as he sees the approaching hobgoblin. He calls out to the Archon, “help!” The Archon turns and runs towards Dorbin as Dorbin pours the potion into the unconscious Bart’s mouth.
OOC: Acting as if Dorbin reached Bart last round with a double-move. Not sure exactly where hb ends up with Dorbin getting to Q22. Archon will abandon hd since it’s surrounded and will take the AOO if it will allow the Archon to charge attack hb. If there’s no way to get a charge on hb, Archon will just disengage and move as close to Dorbin and hb as possible.
Dorbin uses potion of cure light wounds on Bart: healed 8 points (d8+1).
If charge attack can happen: Hound Archon charge on hb hits AC 16 (d20+15). Never mind, natural one. Darn it!

For a moment, Stock raises his flail and just looks at it, accusingly. Then he feels the pain of a well-aimed blow to his right side and focuses his rage that way. He swings once that way and then with a follow up strike in front of him. He then senses more than sees creepy crawling things around him...even in his rage it sends a shiver down his spine.

Micah focuses on the foe at hand, determined to drop her so that he can assist the others. He silently agrees with Stohp's rebuttal to the taunt. To him battle is about defending what matters, nothing more.
His first swing strikes true, landing solidly on monk's right side at the base of her rib cage. Empowered by his faith, he draws back and is able to land a blow again, almost in the same place. Concentrating solely on defeating his foe, he takes no joy in the feel of his foe's ribs giving way to his blows.

The swarm of spiders continues to plague those attacking the hedge. It moves toward new targets covering squares AJ10 to AK11, doing 6 points of damage to h10 and h11. Dirk was so focused on casting spells and playing, that he failed to react to the threatening hobgoblin. Not being much of a melee fighter, he withdraws, but ready to take a stand at the gate.

Dorbin...missunderstanding on my part, Dorbin starts next to Bartomus, however, that would have altered hb1's course and he would be standing over you, but still unable to attack as he double moved... Dorbin draws out a potion and dumps it down Bartomus's throat, allowing some healing. The Archon charges hb1, no AOO the monk is grappled, the Archon swings...and misses.
Stock swings at the lone mounted hobgoblin, connecting. The lone unmounted hobgoblin faces the mighty swing of Stock valiantly.
Bartomus begins moving toward the light, then he chokes and sputters as something is poured down his throat. He regains consciousness to see Dorbin kneeling over him, an angry hobgoblin wielding two short swords standing over Dorbin and a large hound like humanoid standing behind the hobgoblin.
Sid drives his sword under Stock's arm into the belly of the hobgoblin. Clearly Sid has some anger issues. ;0

He comes too coughing as he seemed to have swallowed something. The battle is still raging about the wall, but there are a lot more dead goblins than he remembered. Dorbin was standing over him and as Bartomus gathered his senses he watched a goblin slash at Dorbin striking a deep blow. From his position o the ground, Bartomus threw his head towards the legs of the attack hobgoblin hoping to catch the creature off balance but missed and tried to roll out of the way in order to gain his footing.

Dorbin grunts as the blades slice into him. He hopes he’s done enough to keep Bart alive for a time, but he’s got to get out of there and quickly. He steps back from the attacker, pulls out a tiny feather and bites into it. Nothing happens. When nothing happens, he quickly scrambles in his robe for another item. Meanwhile the Archon swings its massive sword and bites at the beast.
The black tentacles fade from existence at the same time the swirling colors disappear.

Crying out Sid lashes out, but whiffs, nearly cutting into the stunned taur. He curses as he tries regain his balance. "Sorry Stohp!" Sid's sword twirls and he jams it into the goblin again.
The spiders swarm over h9 and h10. It's a ghastly sight as the tiny arachnids scurry over the two hobgoblins on the hedge, crawling into any openings in their armor and clothing, biting any exposed flesh they encounter.
Trying to help out his friends that are taking on the monk lady, he casts sound burst such that it affects her and no one else.
He continues to play his lute, serenading his allies with mighty riffs of encouragement.

Micah, since the monk is dead, diverts his attacks to the hobgoblin ha6. Both attacks hit.
Stohp shakes off the attempted stun and bears her burden to the ground. Then she realizes that the monk is dead.
H8, not realizing that all the comrades behind him are dead, and blocked from viewing the battlefield by a giant dwarf and a large yak, continues to attack the Stock. To hit 14, miss.

Stock is reveling in this. Sure he keeps getting hit but he is somewhat resigned to that as part of his job. It is no surprise then that he focuses on the ugly hobgoblin in front of him. Blood flies with a solid blow. He then continues swinging through his red haze.
"Where did those pigs go that were hacking at the wall?" In his rage it comes out more as a bark than as a clear coherent statement.

In fact you think it is within 100 feet of you, but somewhere above you. This section of the forest is not overly dense, you can see occasional patches of sky, but it is cloudy and raining. Bartomus downs a potion.
Stock in a frenzy attacks everything around him. Poor H8 is now no more than a blood spot. I mean really, the poor sod only had 11 hp when the battle began. The yak fairs little better but being large there is enough carcass to provide one healthy feast for the village.
Dorbin drinks a potion. The Archan shreds the hobgoblin. Again this guy only had 3 hp left, so we're talking blood flying everywhere.
Dirk continues to play. The spiders have nothing to attack.
Micah filled with righteous vigor slays the hobgoblin before him! He tries to get Stock's attention but really that is not necessary right now.
Zanderallen is getting quite annoyed by this hobgoblin and lands 2 solid blows. However, he's not dead yet.
Stohp thinks at first one of the other gates needs help.
Sid fires at hc1, hitting two times. Now Hc1 is dead. He falls over.

Ha1 fires another arrow at the archon. to hit 25, damage 6 [i]However, I don't think that gets through the Archon's DR, because while the hobgoblin is evil his weapon is not. Ha1 then decides retreat might be in order.
Ha4 looks around. He knows retreat is in order and runs after one of the yaks to try and mount it.
Ha5 likes the way ha4 is thinking and runs with him.
Suddenly a Large Treant emerges from AL24-AM25. Spellcraft 21 Highlight to display spoiler: {Transport via Plants.} You recognize it as the treant that the lizard folk druid changed into. He doesn't look too good, many arrows are sticking out the bark, as well as one great axe. There also appears to be scorch marks on some the bark. Slythyl speaks. "I heard your whistle...but it doesn't look like you need much help."
Yes you are still in combat. Do you allow the fleeing hobgoblins to escape? ------

Stohp is instantly suspicious and her mind runs straight to the worst case scenarios. "We didn't call you, it must be some trick to get you away from the other gate. Things are mostly clear here; we should immediately check on the village and the other gate. We can't leave this gate undefended though; at least two of us should stay here and someone should take out whatever it is making the false alert."
She looks about trying to figure out what is making the sound and she points it out to the others if she can identify it (perception 26).

After he guzzled the potion, he felt the energy course through and focused on that as it flowed back into him. He watched as the Shield shredded through hobgoblins and yaks, only to hear a whistle. He tried to look about see where it might be coming from, but as he did so, a tree was moving out of the corner of his eye. He turned and looked at one of the Treents.
As he did so, and heard the response Stohp gave, he saw one of the hobgoblins take off running. He tried flicking a bullet at the fleeing foe, but it went wide. "Oh no you aren't," Bartomus bellowed at the fleeing hobgoblin and took off running after it.
"Though I am reluctant to split up, I agree with Stohp. Something appears to be up. We should not delay, but a few of us are fairly badly wounded." He watches as Bart takes off, shaking his head as that was who he wanted to heal. I think some lightning bolts are in those hobgoblins' near future, he muses aloud to no one in particular.
He moves to get within range of Zanderallen and Stock, then calls upon his healing power.
Slythl, come closer and I will heal you. he says to the seemingly heavily injured druid.

Seeing the hobgoblins are way too far away for any chance of catching them himself, Zanderallen offers a hand to Stock as the Dwarf calms down. Seeing his breath coming heavy Zanderallen concentrates and places his hand firmly against Stock's chest. With a warm tingle Stock's breathe comes easier. "Normally I would let nature run it's course, but the fight may not be over and I can't be distracted by you huffing and puffing next to me." Looking around Zanderallen can barely even make out the whistle much less tell where it is, "How did they know we had those signalling whistles? It suggests they have a spy among the village. Sid shoots, ?Hobgoblin HA1? You didn't declare so that's what I'm going with. He hits with two arrows. The hobgoblin stumbles but does not go down.
Stohp looks around, still thinking the signal was from another gate.
Bartomus flings a sling bullet, missing. He goes after hobgoblin HA1. You can't run, you took an attack action, you can move 6, not sure where you wanted to be as your text does not make sense, putting you at P28-Q29.
Micah moves to ?again no indication of where you wanted to move to, I put you at AB15 and then channels to heal party members.
Dirk stops playing, and is ready to go to the lizard folk's aid.
Stock seems to deflate slightly as the rage leaves him.
Dorbin flings an acid dart at HA1, hitting him. The hobgoblin is still up. Dorbin moves to the wall, You can't run, I believe the acid dart is a standard action. You can move 6, however, you did not indicate your co-ordinates.

Suddenly the air is split with an ear shattering KABOOM! A lighting bolt comes down from above and strikes Slythyl (in his Treant form). Looking up at AM18 you see a floating/flying Lizard Folk about 100 feet above the ground. You recognize him as Skagauh!
Slythyl fails his save, and takes the full blast. He staggers and drops to his knees! He takes the full 32 points of damage.
Above Skagauh says, in common,"Now, now is my time fool. This is the chance for a saurian empire to rise again. We no longer need to fear the forest, so you're no longer important. And this attack was just too perfect. Everyone will have heard your human visitors blow the whistle for help. And of course you arrived, but unfortunately you too were not able to best the 'hobgoblin wizard'." Stohp looks up at the Lizardfolk somewhat incredulously. 1vs9? That was his plan? She internally debates if he's that arrogant or just that stupid. Then again, he did wait until the Hobgoblins weakened them all. So probably the former. But wait, he was just fighting to defend the other gate. Both then.
She doesn't have anything that she can really attack him with from here. She does note the other lizardfolk and wonders if he's in on the plot. Figuring there's nothing she can do about the wizard while he's in the air she goes to check out this other guy, weapon out just in case. She calls as she approaches so that if he's innocent he won't attack her out of startlement.
Stohp can get most of the way there with a double move. I want to k13 is 60 feet? Around there.

Bartomus changes shape, into a small air elemental. Curious it says you take the form but according to the elemental body spell you only get a move of 60 not the move of 100 for the air elemental. the change is a standard action, so then you only get the one 60 foot move. I'll put you at AE27, but still at ground level for now. However, you will still be able to cast spells, with verbal components, but not
Stohp moves toward the approaching Lizard Man, to see there is actually 2 of them. The lead one was also carrying a hobgoblin over its shoulder. She calls out in a friendly manner.
Sid tries to taunt Skagauh, while lamenting the loss of his bow. Dimly he recalls how Micah was able to fix the broken practice dummy back at their warehouse.

He points at the new arrivals and the hound archon takes off at a dead run towards them.

Approaching the lizardfolk on the ground she attempt to trip the first one. As she does so she says, almost conversationally, "You realize this whole scheme is doomed right? Even if Skagauh somehow manages to defeat all of us and your powerful druidic leader he's floating way up in the air and screaming at the top of his lungs where any villager that pops their head out can see him."

Dirk moves, You really can't move that far in 1 move action, you are at AA16 and casts a spell. Dirk needs to provide the DM with 1-intended target, 2-what the spell does so the DM does not have to loose time looking up what it does, and 3-Dirk needs to state what the target save is for the said spell and 4- damage for the spell. I'm going to assume a 22 makes the target save. He's not stunned, he does take 1 point sonic damage.
Bartomus flys under Skagauh and becomes a small whirlwind... The acid fades and disappears on the flying monsters at the same time the hound archon winks out of existence. At the same time, two eagles appear above and behind Skagauh, diving to attack! They flap and fly, biting and clawing at the flying lizard. Dorbin fires a small green dart through the air, but he slips when he fires it, so it flies straight down at the ground in front of him. He looks around, hoping no one saw that shot.

Dirk shrugs off his mostly ineffective spell and now sees that Bartomus is yet again looking quite hurt and worse for the wear. Stock I'm going with option 2, it will make sense in a minute. Enraged Stock charges and brings his flail down soundly into the poor lizard man trying to grapple Stohp's feet. Blood splatters and you hear the snapping of some broken bones.
Dorbin's spell goes off and 2 eagles materialize and start attacking Skaguah. I'm sure being eagles they think he's just a big lizard meal. His other spell is a dramatic failure, fortunately unseen by anyone.
Micah sums up And earns a hero point for paraphrasing a line from one of my favorite movies in a most appropriate way. He then casts some more healing at Slythyl.
Dirk somehow makes out that the swirling whirlwind under Skagauh is Bartomus and goes over sticking his hands into the whirlwind to heal Bartomus. Please make a Reflex 12 save to avoid getting caught in the whirlwind.
Zanderallen barely shakes off the spell that Skagauh cast. Then he again sites on the lizard man and does some arrow smiting Which ignores DR, yes I corrected your previous hit as well.
Sid calls for Stohp to move and makes ready to attack the nearby lizard man. But holds off that final blow. Just wait for it.
Stohp uses her flail and trips the other lizardman while ignoring the bloody mess at her feet. She calls on them to surrender. She also gains one Hero Point, for reasons explained below, if she makes the sense motive check, even if she doesn't she get the hero point.

Skagauh screams as there are now 3 arrows sticking in him. "Whelp!" He moves slightly out of the whirlwind so he does not have to make a spell check. He drops another Fireball at AG16, This will hit Zanderallen, Dirk, and Bartomus? - maybe not Bartomus, what is your elevation, Skagauh is at 40 feet but your whirlwind could be at ground level and effect him. But if you're too close I can use touch spells on your. I await your elevation claim, and then call on you to declare high or low for a roll - go ahead and roll saves in case Fireball damage 42, Reflex save 17 for half or 21 damage.

Stock breathes out as his flail ends a lizardman. He then senses Stohp trying to talk to him. It's almost like he's in a bubble...the words are there but he can't really hear them. Then Sid is there, practically climbing into his free arm...Throw? Yes I can throw the elf.
He gathers Sid into his arm and begins hightailing it back toward the flying lizardman. Through his red haze he manages to tell Sid in the language of the dwarves, "Must get closer. Then you will fly."
========= I'm not sure how much movement Stock should have. Probably just one action if he has to pick up Sid. That puts me at L15-M16. DM - I think when I throw next round, Sid will be considered an improvised weapon so -4 to hit. I just need your ruling on the range increment.

Dorbin sees what Sylthyl is doing (Spellcraft: 23), but he also sees that Skagauh isn’t letting up. He lets the eagles continue to attack and he launches another blob of acid at the flying lizard.

The doorway in the hedge swings violently open, Elderberry, Cactusflower and 6 other lizard folk come swarming through weapons at the ready.
Stohp tries to redirect Stock. Meanwhile the lizardman at her feet groans and the other one still has his hands raised in the air.
Sid slaps Stock, which is funny because Sid has to jump up to slap Stock in the face.
Bartomus is clear of the Fireball and attempts to whirlwind the sorcerer again. He avoids the slam attack but gets a little spun around in the vortex Though technically since you are size small right now, he's size medium and really your vortex doesn't trap him.
Dirk avoids the whirlwind. However, you failed to pay attention and notice you also had to make a save for the fireball cast in your area. I just rolled a 14 for you which does not save, take 42 points damage.
Micah sees Slythyl casting something complex. He casts a hold person on Skagauh. Skagauh avoids the spell handily, (will save 27, d20+10).
Stock grabs Sid and works his way closer to be able to fling him in the air. Throwing a person, I'd say the range increment is 5 feet.
Dorbin's eagles attack, and his acid arrow hits as well.
Zanderallen takes the fireball to the face and then shoots a shot seldom to be seen. It impales Skagauh soundly.

Skagauh flutters to the ground, dead.
Sylthy transforms back to his Lizard folk shape. He sees the others coming through the gates, "Skagauh, attempted to kill me by trickery. If these travelers had not been around I would surely be dead."
Cactusflower, shakes her head briefly and then looks up. "Free at last. Several weeks ago he cast a spell upon me dominating my mind."
The other lizard folk look around at the carnage of hobgoblins.
Elderberry directs his men toward the hobgoblins in the distance. "Kill them."

When the wizard died and floated down to the ground, he spun in pure enjoyment and lowered himself to the ground. He shifted from the whirlwind to the air elemental and back to himself. "Now, that was a lot of fun, flying, twirling, it was such a rush."
He wasn't speaking to anyone particularly. When the druid explained the attempt on his life by the now lifeless wizard, Bartomus simply listed and watched the lizardmen joining them. "The question is whether there are others that will be attacking, or did we beat the attackers back?"

Dropping his arms from their raised position Zanderallen shakes his head at the body of the lizard sorcerer. Such a waste of life, and all for power. He had hoped that Skaguah would be brought around eventually but he felt no regret over his death. Sometimes you had to put the rabid dog down. Then seeing Stock what Stock is preparing to do he steps in front of the equally big dwarf. "Stock, it's over set Sid down. Deep breathes, calm. The fight is won." Once Stock is no longer ready to turn elf javelins he motions everyone to gather up and heads closer to Slythyl. "Slythyl, we are honored to be of assistance. Have the hobgoblins been repulsed from the other gates? Is the rest of the village secure?" Micah watches Zanderallen fire the fatal arrow. Time seems to slow as the missile reaches and ends the evil Slagauh. Then, just as suddenly as it slowed down, time returns to normal. He looks in concern at the survivors and takes a moment to comprehend what has happened.
He nods as Zanderallen engages Slythyl. About to speak himself, he hears Stohp call and trots in her direction. When close enough to aid those the minotaur is concerned about, he channels energy.
