Who is kept in Hearthold Keep - Breakfast Monday January 7th, 2019 6:28:38 PM Tsak is awakened by the chaos. He find other guards attempting to free the man within the web. “How could you do that?” Eldridge says but the knife-wielding guard said nothing. “Take him to the dungeon. We will have a trial and I will notify the elders.” He swallows hard and instructs a few others to help clean up the mess. Eldridge volunteers to pay for every meal. “What can I do,” Eldridge says sadly. “We were boys, together… I should of known. Luther liked to cause messes and I should of known he would of got involved in an affair with the councilwoman. This is going to be so bad…” Falco cures the woman and she blinks awake. She is alive but in a lot of pain. Others thank Falco and rush to her aid. “She wouldn’t listen to me!” the man shouts as the guards begin to take him away. “She wouldn’t listen!” Eldridge offers a bed for the night and breakfast in the morning. “I do hope you are able to find your friend. Have these?” Eldridge hands you a bag of potions. Within the bag are 3 vials of Bear’s Endurance.
(OOC: Bear’s Endurance: The affected creature gains greater vitality and stamina. The spell grants the subject a +4 enhancement bonus to Constitution, which adds the usual benefits to hit points)
Rolth Niheow (BatMark) (36/36) HP | AC: 14; Status: none d20+9=24 ; Monday January 7th, 2019 8:42:07 PM
Rolth thanks Eldridge for his hospitality and generosity, and praises Falco for his quick thinking in aiding the Councilwoman. If it seems as if Eldridge does not know more about our missing friend or his demonic pursuer, Rolth will spend the evening and breakfast working the crowd and seeing what they might know about the twain and their likely whereabouts. (Diplomacy = 24 to gather information)
In the morning, Rolth assumes that we catch the tide that Kiwina predicted?

Mumbeling to himself "So an affair that ends in a kniff... ruining your own life... waste."
HE looks about for the rat-folk that had been there earlier. If he finds them he will ask if he is truly as hungry as he looked before. Being that hungry in a restaurant like this seems out of place. Maybe he is in need. . ____________________________________

Elyas shakes his head as the guards haul the man away to the dungeons. You would think after hundreds of years of affairs causing at least half of the world's problems people would learn to stop having them... I guess we're just slow learners.
Elyas sleeps quite well that night, happy to have been part of sorting out the unfortunate incident. Although he was hesitant about Falco's recent changes it did not escape his notice how quickly the two of them were quickly able to work together to handle the situation using their compeltely different magical abilities. Elyas to capture the culprit and Falco to heal the victim.
Finnian (Zeke) (HP:21/27; AC: 16; Touch: 13; Flat: 13; CMD: 17) Status: None; CLW 19/50 Tuesday January 8th, 2019 3:11:07 PM
After feeling overwhelmingly sick for the past few days Finnian awakes feeling refreshed and ready for the days to come. He spends the morning speaking with the others and getting clued in on what he missed.
The Tide is up Tuesday January 8th, 2019 7:04:55 PM
With the kerfuffle resolved. Falco searches for the little rat man. With some effort he finds the little man rustling through the trash near the keep. Falco’s approach startles him and he scurries off, disappearing between a pair of centaur that barely notice him.
Morning reveals a new day and the restaurant is back to normal. The furniture had been replaced and any stains are completely cleaned up. Eldridge, is a bit depressed but bids the Adventurers and good trip. The beach is filled with vacation-goers. Everyone eager to enjoy the pleasant weather. The news of the tragedy in the Keep already making the rounds. The tide, as predicted, is perfect. Ramsey and the other Brambles are cleaning up the ship. Rolth notices there is much more to do as thorns and vines lay upon the deck of the ship. “No worries,” Ramsey says. “We got this. I wanted to let you know I trained Circi here on maintenance for your propeller drive. Circi is a large centaur Bramble mare. He has that “always angry” look, Ramsey says. “Our other Bramble is Dalilah,” he says with a wink. “I think she likes me, but…” he stops mid-sentence. “She’s our first mate. Pretty good one, I think.” Dalilah is a Minotaur Bramble, smaller than Ramsey but with a tough nature. “Noticed, a lot of folks staring at the ship after that black behemoth left. Do you know that was full of outsiders.. On a ship? Said it was captained by some angel. How’d it go at the Keep, get the answers you wanted? You guys heading to Minotaur Island to find Captain Cecil? It will take maybe a day, if that. That propeller on the end of the ship is quite ingenious.”

Elyas greets and watches each of the new crew members. He is happy to have the extra hands of experienced sailors on the ship, knowing what kind of messes we tend to get ourselves involved in.
He spend some time examining the work on the propeller device and writes down a bunch of notes in one of the many notebooks in his backpack.

The Rose and it's Propellor Wednesday January 9th, 2019 5:06:13 PM Rolth Rolth addresses the crew, "Nice to have you all on board! Hey, where did all these vines come from?" Then he'll get to work helping Captain Kiwina sail us to Minotaur Isle. (Profession Sailor = 28) Ramsey blushed a bit. “It was nothing. Looks like we shed some of these Bramble vines. It’s a new thing with this Bramble talent, every day.” He smiled. Dalilia approached and elbowed the Bramble minotaur in the side. “Did you tell them you lost to a girl.” Ramsey put up a hand then sighed. “I did not lose to a girl. You cheated.” Dalilia laughed heartily then added, “This genius set up a tug of war when you gentlemen were gone. Bramble vs. Bramble. Ramsey here was doing fine till he went against me.” She laughed. “Can we just forget about that. We have work to do.” Dalilia left and continued to laugh.
Kiwina "As I recall, Castle Violet is around on the other side of Minotaur Island. Show us what the propeller can do." Kiwina says to Ramsey. “Ay, Captain.” Ramsey instructed Cerci to start up the propellor. Cerci grabbed another Bramble sailor and they disappear below deck. Within a half hour the propellor began to spin, catching the wind. The sails were turned inward to redirect the air to the propellor.
Tsak and Gothruk are looking forward to the sea air. Gothruk imagines a race between the Herald and the Rose.
Falco offers a gift to the small rat-like man. From a safe place the little man watches and returns once Falco leaves. He pockets the coins and returns to sorting through the trash. Finnian does a few exercises and then tours the boat. He stops to pray at the very top of the rigging. Elyas inspects and records, as the propellor begins to spin. The ship lurches ahead and sets sail for Minotaur island. The belt driven contraption sits above the rear of the boat with a large leather belt sinking below the deck and back up.

Substitute DM Post (BatMark cut and pasting for Matt) Thursday January 10th, 2019 7:10:11 PM Rolth checks on the magic tapestry but it's fairly vanilla. Same ole tapestry. The Rose speeds across the water with a nice wind catching the sails. The Bramble swab the deck and maintain the sails. The day wanes and dusk approaches. The ship has made good progress and you should arrive in the morning. Ramsey and Circi pull out a large table and slam it upon the deck. (It's heavy). A stranger appears from below deck. A plump human man with a food covered white apron and a cigarette in his mouth. “Foods done,” the man says. Ramsey immediately apologizes. “So sorry guys, I added a new crew member. This is Happy. He was a cook on the Herald. Hope it's ok.” The cigarette in his mouth rises as he smiles. He offers a hand. “So happy to meet you all. I've heard good things. We got a Hell hound soup, my specialty… no worries. No Hell Hounds harmed in the making of the soup. The soup is just a little warm.”. The cook gives the group a friendly wink. Ramsey and the Bramble set the table and chairs and offer the group a seat.

oh? We don't think I saw you when we were on the Herald. Had you not joined when we were enjoying it's severities or was there a hole free section below deck that you worked in? [b/] Gothruk is unsure how to feel, it's good that Ramsay is showing initiative but it also dosn't seem much like him to invite someone aboard the ship without first consulting at least one of us. Elyas is surprised to see an unannounced member of the crew and shares the others' concerns about there being more additions that they were not told about. He takes a quick look around the ship, watching for stowaways or secret crew members. he also uses Detect Magic to make sure there are no other hidden surprises for them.
He realizes as he starts combing the ship that he really should have been doing this before. He writes a note to himself to schedule a regular walk-around the ship with detect magic in order to keep an eye out for trouble. You can never be too careful when sailing to confront a demon he mutters under his breath.

The Rose and it's Propellor 2 Friday January 11th, 2019 7:39:44 PM
“I’m so sorry,” Ramsey says. “None of us aboard know how to cook. Happy was recommended and I made a quick decision.”
Gothruk studies Ramsey and his actions were unintentionally rash but well intentioned. There is some concern that he made a fateful mistake. He followed up with any assistance needed to convey no other additions were made. There is no magic detected and no other surprises.
Kiwina makes a mental note that the Petals should set up the magical disc and compass they have so that they can always find the Rose. Happy smiled, “Yeah, sorry. Hellhounds are a little over my skill level. I tell you what.. Slay me a hell hound and I will boil one up for you.” Happy laughed about the comment on the hole free section of the Herald. “Ai, that piece of pieces of ship had a fully functional kitchen. I was rarely out in public, it kept me busy.” “Ah, home… my home is on a ship any ship.”
The night begins and the Rose’s Bramble crew prepares for a drop in wind speed. They close the sails, as they are not needed. They tie them up to secure them. An hour later Cerci appears. “Guys, we have a problem. The belt has a tear, it needs to be replaced or repaired before it busts. We need to shut down the propellor. We may want to set anchor. The wind has halted completely and we don’t want to drift off course. I may be able to rig up some of the Sargrass to repair the belt but it’s going to take me a couple hours.”

Tsak has no ability or spell which will help him mend the propeller belt, he wonders whether Falco has something in his repertoire - since his recent change he's been full of surprises at every turn.
The half-orc isn't too fussed about Ramsey's decision to bring the cook aboard. It seems a little peevish to leave him in charge of the boat but then question his intentions when he does what he thinks is right to keep it running.

Leave this to me. He says to the crew. I can fix this with a bit of magic, but I need a bit of time to look up the spell and refresh my memory to be sure i get it right
Elyas spends some time reading through his spellbook then (assuming nothing attacks us or something before i get to redo my spells) he returns to the propeller assembly. he casts Mending on the belt, repeating the process several times if needed.

Darkness Falls d100=21 ; d4=2 ; d10=4 ; Monday January 14th, 2019 6:23:38 PM Rolth suggests extra watches and Tsak sets up a perch in the crows nest. Finnian volunteers to watch from above but will have to wait his turn till Tsak climbs down. Kiwina looks to the sky but clouds cover any hints of the moons. Darkness blankets the Rose. Moments roll past where the clouds part and a dim light shines allowing some vision but its only moments. (OOC: Please note your location on the boat and ability to navigate in the darkness)
Falco takes up watch somewhere on deck. His perception picks up little information. The boat rocks upon the water and small waves rap against the wooden hull. The sails flap, ever so slightly at a sudden gust of wind but then become silent. A bird flies overhead.
Elyas inspects the damage with a careful eye, looking for any evidence that it has been intentionally tampered with but the darkness makes that impossible from the deck. Cerci suggests Elyas and anyone else that wants to help join him below deck. Below deck there are permanent sconces with candlelight that help with the inspection. Elyas and Circi find that the belt had separated completely. Cerci volunteers to hold the pieces together as Elyas attempts to mend the 3 -in leather belt. Falco congratulates Elyas for the quick thinking but at the same time, for the first time, really notices the loss of some of his intellect when he became a beastman. He does not think over on it but wonders if he would have thought of the same when he was a halfling. Dismissing the thoughts he again takes watch in the proper rotation.

Elyas finishes repairing the belt, and comments to Circi We will need to keep an eye on this in the future. if it frayed and broke due to normal use it will happen again. it would be easier to fix it before it completely breaks again. if someone did it intentionally they may try again, and we need to be watching. thank you for your assistance, an extra set of hands made the job much quicker
Elyas is happy to have helped, but doesn't feel comfortable with all of the Petals commenting on it. he sees it as simply part of his job as the crew's wizard
The Midnight Hour Tuesday January 15th, 2019 6:03:51 PM
b]Tsak Rezar goes for a rest waiting for his watch to come round Finnian tries to keep an eye out when he’s on watch, but the darkness makes it very difficult. Elyas is a bit awkward with everyone thanking him, but moves on all the same. Rolth Niheow keeps a stern guard, and during his watch keeps an eye out as well. Kiwina rests, though when he’s not resting stays up on deck. Gothruk sleeps soundly. Falco Ambersier contemplates his change, and decides to get some rest.
It is late at night, the smell and taste of the sea air floats into the nostrils of those who are on watch at midnight. The thin sliver of the waning moon his high up in the sky, giving very little light, especially with the cloud cover dispersing the tiny amount of moonlight that is even trying to reach the ocean.
All sounds calm, other than the waves lapping softly against the side of the boat, and the soft whistling of a cool wind coming across the deck.
Anyone on watch at Midnight ((OoC: Sorry I’m not entirely familiar with which order you take your watches and who would be on watch at Midnight)) please make a DC 25 Perception Check
Anyone who passes and is on watch (i.e. awake and above deck): - Highlight to display spoiler: { There appears to be a boat coming up on the port stern, similar in size to your own ship, and heading straight for you! There are no lights on the ship itself, which can only mean one thing. Pirates. }

Rolth, having taken first watch, turns in after waking the next group. He is sleeping soundly when the bells ring for midnight...
(OOC: We don't have a set watch pattern. It would make sense for the folks with darkvision (Tsak and Gothruk, I believe) to take the middle watch (including midnight), when things are generally darkest. That would put the folks with normal or low light vision on watch at dusk and dawn, when there might be a little more light to see by.)

Tsak wakes somewhat rested and, climbing the rigging, takes his turn from Finnian. Even though the half-elf can't see much in the dark he seems reluctant to get down from the crows nest. Tsak convinces him that all will be well and settles himself comfortably to see what the night brings.
A whiles later Tsak notices a smudge on the horizon to the stern of the Rose. The smudge slowly reveals itself to be ship shaped and moving toward the Petals vessel. The lack of lights on the ship can only mean one thing, a situation that Tsak is intimately acquainted with. In the absence of a bell, drum or bugle Tsak resorts to lung power and starts yelling Pirates astern! Pirates astern!
Knowing that they won't have time to fire up the steam engine for the fan he then makes his way down the rigging to prepare for a fight.

He quickly gathers his crossbow and shakes off his sleepiness. Sure am glad I dind't have to use much magic yesterday, still have plenty of spells prepared...
By the time he gets above deck, the others are likely preparing for boarding. Elyas tries his best to spot the ship, but with no darkvision it may be difficult. (perception = 8)
Hope these pirates like fire! Elyas comments, looking for a pirate ship to light up

The Midnight Hour part 2 Wednesday January 16th, 2019 6:37:46 PM
((OoC: I’m going to assume that those with Nightvision of some description are on watch in the middle of the night))
Tsak Rezar spots something and calls out to everyone on the ship. Finnian grumbles about not getting enough sleep. Elyas looks carefully for a target to begin fling fire at, but fails to see anything. Rolth Niheow is resting, sleeping below deck. Kiwina is also sleeping Gothruk has managed to fall asleep on his watch. Falco Ambersier awakens at Tsak calling out, and begins to move.
There is a sudden buzz of activity as the Deck hands and others immediately jump up at the yell of “Pirates!” and start running around trying to wake up everyone to repel borders, and indeed you can hear the Captain shout “PREPARE TO REPEL BORDERS!!”
Everyone begins rushing around, a few of the deckhands are at either side of the ship, looking desperately for the other ship. At first you can see nothing, there are several moments, possibly even minutes that go past in dead silence, you swear you can’t even hear the water lapping against the boat.
A deckhand points and calls out “There!”, and the ship explodes into action, men running around to that side of the ship, drawing swords, daggers, the calling out at the pirate ship trying to warn them off and showing off their steel in an attempt to intimdate the Pirates to leaving you alone.
Knowing the chance of a completely silent boarding is out, suddenly several lights begin to illuminate the other ship. You can see several figures pressed against the sides while others move around quickly behind.
The boat has gotten fairly close, and before you have a chance to react, a few grappling hooks fly over onto your ship and dig into the deck and the sides, when the ropes suddenly go taut, pulling the Pirate ship closer. The enemy ship is 40 feet away, and closing in. You cannot see individual targets, but you can comfortably hit one of the enemies with ranged weapons/spells.
(Those of you below decks, please make a Reflex Saving throw. If you get higher than 18 you can come up on deck next round, less than 18, the round after)
Rolth wakes up at all the commotion, but trips over the sleeping Gothruk, which slows his progress a bit. He will disentangle himself from the minotaur's horn and more carefully make his way up on deck (the round after next.)

The Midnight Hour part 2 Thursday January 17th, 2019 6:33:08 PM Tsak Rezar takes a potshot at the other ship, he hears a satisfying squelch of his bolt finding purchase in some enemy. Finnian reacts quickly, but gets halfway out on deck, before realising he needs his weapon and returns to get it. Elyas gets prepped seeing that his fight is about to become a melee Rolth Niheow stumbles and begins to get himself together. Kiwina awakening suddenly realises he needs a weapon and goes to fetch his. Gothruk suddenly awakens at all the commotion, and tries to rouse himself. Falco Ambersier while being all bleary eyed begins to get his stuff together to prepare for a fight
The bolt hitting the enemy seems not to do much to the figure, though you cannot see exactly who it hit, there does not appear to be anybody calling out or firing back. The hooks digging into the deck are being pulled on bringing the Pirate’s ship ever closer, they deck hands are furiously trying to cut through the ropes to get rid of them, however the Pirates continue to throw more over onto the ship.
Even with all the commotion and moving it seems oddly still, everyone seems to be going about their work without calling anything out, and there are no shouts or orders coming from the Pirate ship, just silence coming across the still water.
The Pirate ship is now only 10 feet away and you can see long planks being used to grab onto the siding and allow the Pirates across to the ship. As the Pirates begin to move across carefully, the deckhands prepare to attack as soon as they come into range.
However, after only a few moments you can see the colour drain from the deckhand’s faces, and one manages to sputter out a terrified yell of
“ZOMBIES!!”
You can see the beginnings of a panic start to set into the deckhands on your ship.
((Those of you that failed the Reflex roll may act this round as you come up on deck using your move action))

Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut haft, cobalt blue steel head, and a head splitter. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?"
The Petals and crew find that unusually inspiring, even if they have no idea what he is talking about. (OOC: inspire courage for +1 to hit and damage, plus some other benefits)
With that, he will take his place at the end of a plank, and take any opportunity to swipe at a zombie coming over. (AoO = 22, damage = 10)

Falco scrambles onto deck just in time to hear someone say that they are being attacked by zombies. Raising his voice he yells to the Petals.
"Look for their leader, someone must be directing this."
Standing in the middle of the boat, and having darkvision, Falco looks for anyone that could be pulling the strings of these zombies. {Perception: 11 - Great time to roll a 2!}

The Midnight Hour part 2 d20+6=12 ; d20-1=7 ; d20-1=10 ; Friday January 18th, 2019 7:36:40 PM Tsak Rezar takes aim and fires another shot, but instead of the nice pleasant squelching thunk, there is the sound of dry wood being struck. Finnian launches an attack against one of the zombies, hitting one squarely in the chest before trying to find something that looks it might be a leader. Elyas also tries to look across to the other ship and see if he can spot a leader, however all he sees are Goblins scuttering about behind the zombies. Rolth Niheow talks about something that makes very little sense to those present, but his performance is enough to cause some of the Deckhands to stand and fight, before he hits one of the Zombies with his glaive. Kiwina preapres to repel boarders, standing at the end of a plank. Gothruk Falco Ambersier scans the other ship to look for any leaders, but the zombies pressing across and at the sides are blocking his view.
As some more zombies begin to cross over, shuffling slowly across the plans some of the deckhands take swipes at them, but seem to fail to inflict any real damage.
The Petals keep searching for some sort of leader for the zombies, but nothing seems to be a leader that you can see, but there is a large number of zombies in the way.
Both Kiwina and Rolth swing at the first zombies that manage to lurch across, as each one is guarding the ends on one of the planks, Rolth manages to strike one but Kiwina misses his attack.
The zombie both make it to the side of the Petals and strike at those that lock their path, they lurch forward as if trying to take a bite out of either Rolth or Kiwina and they both miss their irksome dinner.
Can I have a DC 18 Perception check from everyone please!
If you pass :- Highlight to display spoiler: { You notice some of the goblin pirates are climbing down under the planks and swinging across to crawl onto the ship without having to cross into the swords and various weapons.}
Rolth adds to Kiwina's warning, "The little goblin sneaks are coming across under the planks or swinging over. He continues his inspiring oration, riffing off of the old tale about the Army of Darkness, "In this age of darkness, at this time of evil...When the world needed heroes, what it got was the Eight Petaled Rose."
With that, he drops his glaive behind himself on the ship, pulls out his morningstar, and continues to bash away of the zombie in front of him, swinging wildly in his enthusiasm.

Kiwina spots the goblins trying to sneak aboard the ship and strikes out at a zombie with everything he has. Gothruk makes his way topside, reinforcing his friends. The Midnight Hour part 7 Tuesday January 22nd, 2019 5:44:50 PM Tsak Rezar opens fire trying to help Rolth, seeing his friend heavily injured. Finnian fires at a couple of the goblins as the swarm over the sides. Elyas fires a Crossbow bolt that finishes off the last of the zombies currently on planks Rolth Niheow makes a tactical retreat to avoid possibly being killed. Kiwina manages to toss one of the planks into the water Gothruk rushes into protect his friend Rolth, failing to land any blows of significance Falco Ambersier heals his ally Rolth for a decent amount.
While you seem to be minimising the enemies coming across to attack you, the goblins have got a good number onto your ship, they begin hopping over the sides and onto the deck, some of them scurrying below while some of them stick around to cause problems for deckhands.
With all the zombies currently attacking the ship dead, you can see even more zombies on the Pirate ship, all trying to press across onto the planks, and a few more grappling hooks have been flung across, glancing up you can even see a few coming down from the rigging.
The goblins don’t seem to be paying much attention to you, though the one that gets hit by Finnian growls back at him, only being stuck by a single one of the bolts.
What do you do next?

Rolth Niheow drinks a potion and keeps trying to inspire his fellows, and spots on the other boat, now webbed up a goblin pirate with what appears to be some sort of wand or rod in his hand. Kiwina swings at the second goblin, but only his final blow makes contact Gothruk dumps the second plank into the ocean, then hacks a rope free from a grappling hook. ((Please make a Perception Check)) Finnian sees an opening and takes a first shot, missing, but his second shot hits home on the Pirate wielding the Rod, while the hit is solid, the captain growls back at the Petals. Elyas fires a shot into the water, unsure of the melee that is going on. Rolth Niheow furiously attacks the fourth Goblin, making it squeal in pain as it seems to crumple a bit, while still conscious and fighting back, it is looking much worse for wear. Kiwina manages to strikle the Goblin next to him with his shortspear, but unfortunately, in his fury, he misses his later strikes. Gothruk kicks out twice, not striking anything. Falco Ambersier opens fire as well to support Gothruk, and like Finnian he strikes true and does some damage, but not as much as he was hoping.
The Battle is still in full swing, and while the goblins are being injured they don’t show any signs of slowing down. All three of the goblins still in melee strike out with their short spears, and two more boards slam down, this time with hooks sticking them into the deck, making it harder to just throw them overboard.
The goblins manage to miss mot of their attacks, only the fourth Goblin who has been heavily injured manages to strike back at his attack, dealing 15 damage to Gothruk.
You can see some more zombies beginning to shuffle across the boards.

Rolth Niheow cleverly suggests using grease of some sort on the planks, before attacking, both his paw attacks connecting with the second Goblin. Kiwina lets fly with a flurry of blows but unfortunately does no damage. The donkey also attacks, with no effect. Gothruk strikes and kills the second goblin, though his attack is not as potent as he had hoped. He then moves over to defend the plank but doesn’t quite to the plank. Falco Ambersier aims to help heal his friend.
The battle continues, with the zombies moving further across onto your ship, the final goblin on deck attacks Kiwina, dealing 11 damage. The battle rings out, as you look around and realise that there are plenty of ropes still attached to your ship, several coming from the rigging of the Pirate ship,
Looking up at the rigging, you see several goblin pirates all about to slide down the ropes onto your ship, and one of them is already on his way. He slides down, and lands on a deckhand who he immediately spears through the throat.
The deckhand cries out in pain, but the scream quickly becomes a wheezy rasp, and finally becomes a soft gurgling just as the goblin withdraws his spear. He looks out at the other deckhands and the Petals, holding up his spear which you can see is red on the tip and slick with blood, before he cackles and gives you an evil smile.
Below decks, the goblin that Tsak is attacking tries to move away, and Tsak instinctively lashes out and injures it again, however it manages to scurry away and tries to hide in the hold, scurrying between the boxes and other things, because of his small size he apparently finds it easy to find hidden places to sneak into.
((Perception Check from Tsak please to find the Goblin again, if you fail you cannot attack it this round, DC 25))

The Deckhands suddenly seem to find their spines, having seen the Petals get attacked and heavily injured defending the ship and surge forward attacking the zombies to help aid the Heroes. They attack the various enemies still on deck, and do a small amount of damage to them.

Elyas fires a crossbow bolt that goes very wide, missing everyone and embedding itself into the pirate’s boat. Rolth Niheow continues to try and put the fear of Domi into the Goblin leader, and it would appear that the goblin is cowed, and he begins stuttering a response. The other deckhands seem unsure of continuing the fight, while there boots seem to be in pools of their friends and compatriots’ blood. The deck is slick with blood and tar the various melees going, and the smell of salt and copper floats across the air as there is a slight lull in the fighting.

Ready for trouble, Elyas jumps as he hears the sound of a bolt sinking into wood. when he realizes it was only one bolt and not a new attack he inspects the bolt and finds a piece of paper wrapped around it.
Look here, they left us a note. maybe they want to be pen-pals...
Elyas opens the note and reads it if he is able.
Finnian (Zeke) (HP:21/27; AC: 16; Touch: 13; Flat: 13; CMD: 17) Status: None; CLW 19/50 d20+8=15 ; Monday February 4th, 2019 10:34:34 AM
Finnian continues the help the dying deck hands and when he feels like he can't do anymore will rejoin the group. [heal=15, if there is anything else I can do]
Gothruk Gore (Logan) AC 16 (T13/F13) 13/31HP |Guisarme +7 2D6+6 | Status: None Monday February 4th, 2019 4:25:37 PM
Gothruk helps remove the bodies of Zombies and Goblins. He's careful to stab each once from a distance before using thick gloves to move the bodies. He encourages others to do so as well. There are many ways to get sick from chores such as these.
Rolth Niheow (BatMark) (22/36 HP) Fatigued Monday February 4th, 2019 7:45:57 PM
Rolth will make sure that the enemy corpses are searched before they are tossed overboard...
Darkness Falls Monday February 4th, 2019 9:03:33 PM
(OOC: Good job with the fight.) Tsak climbs the mast and unties the paper from the bolt. He brings it back down before attempting to read it. Rolth attempts to find some magically trab but the spell reveals nothing. Tsak and Elyas only- (unless you share the note)Highlight to display spoiler: {The note says, Dear adventures, Captain Cecil’s problems are his problems. They are none of your concern. The best advice I can leave you is turn around and adventure elsewhere. Signed Aaroth. } Ramsey grills Cerci about the extra crew members. “What on earth made you think you could bring them aboard.” Cerci replied, “Captain, they were in the hull. I’m telling you. I found them in the hull behind a door. They say they have been here the whole time.” “Ridiculous,” Ramsey shouts. “Captain, they gave their lives for the crew…” Falco and Finnian heal the crew members as others mill around. Some begin to mop the deck and others help to toss the zombies. Work on the repairs begins with Falco’s help. Gothruk recommends stabbing the zombies a few extra times, which was an excellent decision as a few rise and attempt to attack.
(Ooc: With a good know. roll you will definitely remember the ship.)
A search of the pirate and the zombie minion find, Spells: Detect undead, Potion of healing, potion of invisibility 1 Scimtar and a +1 Spear. Three goblin sized chain shirts. Upon a few of the zombies you find a Breastplate, 4 chainmail shirts and a tower shield. The remaining pockets and bags of coins contain 1000 gp gold.
Tsak Rezar (Damien) AC15 (T13/F12) 36/36 HP| Falchion +4 2D4+3|Crossbow +1 1D8+1|Status: None Monday February 4th, 2019 9:17:35 PM
Tsak quickly scans the note before reading it aloud for everyone's benefit. He will also intervene on Cerci's behalf to dismiiss any squabbles regarding the deck hands. Tsak knows the Petals and is quite sure the note will only fuel their desire to assist Cpt Cecil. If the undead pirates have taught us anything it is the requirements to work as a team if we are to overcome this demon.
Rolth Niheow (BatMark) (22/36 HP) Monday February 4th, 2019 10:41:21 PM
Rolth snorts in derision at the note, "Hah, if a demon tells you something, the opposite is probably true. He must be afraid to have the Eight Petaled Rose on his scent! I am doubly determined. How interesting that the demon seems to be in league with the pirates. I wonder if he is behind the whole thing?"
With respect to the continually appearing additional crew, Rolth suggests to Captain Kiwina that we muster the entire crew on deck, then conduct a complete search of the ship. He will support said endeavor with a keen eye and a continuation of his detect magic spell, including on the mustered crew.
Kiwina (Steve M) (1/51 HP | AC:15; Touch:11; Flat:13; CMD:18) | HeP: 2 | Status: None Tuesday February 5th, 2019 12:26:33 AM
Kiwina agrees with Rolth's suggestion about mustering the crew, "And we should tend any that are injured."
As far as the note goes, Kiwina assumes it means that heading to Castle Violet has the Petals on the right path to help Cecil.
He further suggests that the Petals develop a standard watch rotation, but that can wait a bit.
Falco Ambersier (Ryan M) Status: +2 Dex | AC 19 (20) (T14(15)/F16) 31/31 HP | +1 Longbow: +8(+9) 1d6+1 / x3 | Cold Iron Spear +5 1d6+1 | Oil Cure Mod 1/1 | Oil Cure Ser 1/1 | Channel 4/5 Tuesday February 5th, 2019 7:43:44 AM
Falco does not even consider not going back after the ship, despite the note.
"I think the injured are ok though I am low on healing at this point. We need to go after that ship, after a rest. Next time we can be prepared, maybe some ranged from the rigging on more preparations for the boarders."
Looking over what is found he shakes his head finding that always any small items are cheap goblin garbage.
{ooc: Any XP for that one. I ask because I always forget when GMing.}
Elyas (Ben A.) (38/38 HP | AC: 18; Touch:13; Flat: 15; CMD:15) | Light Crossbow +5( 1D8, 19-20) | Status: Shield Tuesday February 5th, 2019 10:36:49 AM So the demon we are looking for sends a ship full of goblins and zombies to try to get us to leave him alone... seems like we're on the right path then! it will only get tougher from here if we continue to chase after the Captain. we struggled against zombies, we need to be sure we are prepared for fighting demons and other minions the closer we get to our goal.
Finnian (Zeke) (HP:21/27; AC: 16; Touch: 13; Flat: 13; CMD: 17) Status: None; CLW 19/50 Tuesday February 5th, 2019 11:13:04 AM "I'd be glad to get into the rigging, also those tar buckets were pretty effective, we might want to gather a few more of those and be ready." Finnian says. you're right Elyas, seems like we are, he adds referring to following the correct ship.
Gothruk Gore (Logan) AC 16 (T13/F13) 29/31HP |Guisarme +7 2D6+6 | Status: None Tuesday February 5th, 2019 4:17:16 PM
Gothruk takes a look at the note once he has a chance. Was the demon or one of his minions also on the ship? I'm not sure Goblins are powerful and smart enough to create and control undead like that. Or even to write a not such as this. We will need to be weary in the future that other adversaries are not being guided by this Devil.
